Beck's in'n Snoor in Bremen

We were there with eight people over the Christmas period. We were looking forward to dining there with our family. The food wasn't even mediocre. The service was terrible. I have never been greeted and served so rudely in any restaurant. Never again!

My daughter and I went out for dinner on Friday at 8:30 PM. Right from the start, we were pressured to order. And then, when we asked for dessert, I was told: "The cook has already left, and we're closing too." I asked: "But you only close at 10 PM?" He said yes, but that they were already finishing their shift. But this was at 9:12 PM. In short, I was disappointed.

Anyone who leaves a bad review here probably behaved badly themselves. Guests can be rude sometimes, and the staff doesn't have to put up with everything. We've been there three times now. The food is always first-class, and the atmosphere is fun and cozy. Kale with Pinkel sausage – you absolutely have to try it! The food is sooooo delicious, and it's a quaint restaurant in the Schnorr district. Reservations are recommended, but two people can usually still find a spot if you ask nicely at the entrance. It's worth it! You reap what you sow... Another highlight today, and so cozy.

Went here for new year's eve dinner. The staff was super friendly and the waiter honestly superb. Friendly, fun and a good salesman who made our dinner truly enjoyable. The location is great in one of the best neighborhood in town and with a typical look. Food was also good and fairly priced. Highly recommended!

It's a lovely place to eat or just have a drink. Even on my own, I found a nice spot and enjoyed some delicious kale.

The restaurant isn't suitable for a relaxing stay; it's loud, crowded, and stuffy. However, the food was consistently good, and the waiters were friendly—unusual considering how busy it was.

The food, a Bremen platter, was average (3 stars). Labskaus and Knipp were decent, but nothing special... suitable for tourists. The atmosphere was a bit cramped, bustling, and loud on a Friday during Advent, but still pleasant inside. The problem, however, was the service. We were greeted with: "You know your reservation ends in 1 1/2 hours?" Yes, we know what we're reserving!!! Drinks were taken and brought once. Food was taken and brought once. A large portion of fried potatoes was even read out again while being written down... the portion was then the same size as all three dishes. The ordered steak was well-done, unlike what we ordered. A shame for the expensive beef. Furthermore: No "Everything alright?" No "Would you like another coffee or dessert?"

The bartender here was the most rude and discourteous person I have ever seen in my life. I would never recommend him. We were almost beaten up.

The food here is mainly Maggi & Knorr products. My Jägerschnitzel was of fast-food quality.

The restaurant is beautifully situated in one of the narrow streets of the Snoor quarter. Its rustic, old-fashioned German decor makes it very cozy. The staff are charming with their North German humor and are very attentive. The food was absolutely delicious and very reasonably priced. I highly recommend the kale with Pinkel sausage. We always love coming back! 🚢❤️

There were four of us eating here. We really enjoyed our meal. They serve good, honest German cuisine. The atmosphere is rustic and very authentic. We'll definitely be back!

Beware of this rip-off! With one exception (who luckily had our table), the staff were very unfriendly and pushy! The food is entirely from cans, jars, and packets. For example, the "hunter's sauce" with the schnitzel was simply ready-made cream sauce with mushroom caps from a jar. The potatoes were Popp convenience food! For the prices, it's outrageous.

Delicious Bremen cuisine, especially worth a visit at this time of year for kale, Knipp and other local specialties. Quaint historical atmosphere in one of Bremen's most beautiful districts.

A really lovely restaurant with delicious beers, very attentive staff, and a menu featuring seasonal products. I had a dish of kale with really tasty Pinkel sausage, a slice of Kasseler (smoked pork loin), and super crispy fried potatoes. Everything was served in a pan. Highly recommended! :)

We were there as a group today, and first the positives. The ambiance is very nice and rustic. The welcome was friendly, and we were shown to our reserved table. My colleagues' food was apparently very good, but unfortunately mine wasn't. I had the grill plate; the beef was cooked all the way through and therefore tough. The pork was shoe-like, so I couldn't eat it. It went back. The bacon was okay, but the turkey was very good. When the waiter asked if everything was okay and I told him that I was, there was no reaction; he probably didn't care. Then he asked if anyone wanted dessert and brought the menu. I said I couldn't eat any of that. Unfortunately, he didn't ask why that was the case. I'm lactose intolerant; there's apparently nothing without it. I don't think he cared either. Well, I ended up eating something at home because I wasn't full, and that was for a meal that cost over €26. Really annoying.

The first bar I've ever been to, anywhere in the world, where I couldn't get a drink sitting at the bar. Plenty of bar stools available but the rude, elderly man behind the man seemed really angry when people sat down and wanted a beer. After being ignored for 10 minutes I got up and left. Not sure if the staff were xenophobic or just rude, either way if you're not local then this place is to be avoided.

The old, historic Schnoor district, with its narrow streets and old houses, is the highlight of Bremen for me. Dining in one of these well-kept, good restaurants is a real treat. You can enjoy yourself downstairs or one floor up. The selection of food and drinks is fantastic. The service was super friendly and perfect. I spent a wonderful time here.

I had planned to relax a bit this weekend and drove to Bremen for that purpose. During the day, in nice weather, I went on a bike ride along the Weser River. Up until then, the relaxation had been going well. In the evening, I wanted to eat at Schnoor and unfortunately chose this restaurant. Since I couldn't lock my bike on the "Hauptstrasse," i.e., in front of the restaurant, I went to the backyard, where there was plenty of space. There's also an entrance to the restaurant. While I was parking my bike, a man approached me in broken German. He asked me what it was, and I replied that it was my bike, which I was locking up. He then said, in essence, that it was a restaurant, and I replied that that was precisely why I was there. The man seemed extremely aggressive, and I asked him what the problem was. He then asked if I spoke English. I explained to him that I could express myself more clearly in German. This seemed advisable to me, so I wouldn't accidentally say something in English that he might misunderstand, as he was already very aggressive. I then entered the restaurant. The man ran after me and shouted at me to sit down and eat and drink. I asked if this was the normal tone of voice in the restaurant. A waiter who was sitting at the counter and overheard this told me not to look at him like that, since he hadn't said anything. I then said that I didn't like his tone and left the restaurant. I don't know what function this person had, but I found it absolutely unacceptable that the waiter didn't attempt to resolve the situation. I suspect that my case is an isolated incident, as the other reviews are mostly positive, but in my opinion, there shouldn't be such an isolated incident. I'm 65 years old and come to Bremen regularly; something like this has never happened to me before. I then cycled into the city center and had a good dinner there.

Shockingly tasteless for a "brewery," it was shockingly lacking in style. We went in to wait out the rain and have a drink. The staff seemed suspicious of this request, so they seated us at the bar with very limited friendliness. The drinks were the best the place had to offer, the ambiance was cozy, and the staff were extremely unpleasant. In Cologne in the morning, unfriendliness has style; here at Beck's, it's just what it is: lousy.

Unfortunately, we did not try any food, but the place is very nice to sit at for a glass of local beer. A very nice atmosphere.

The turkey schnitzel is the best. The staff is super friendly. Dongya is really good. The japchae is really good. They even recommend beers and are really friendly.

It was very nice there. Even though I arrived 30 minutes before regular opening hours, I was served. Since our entire group was there, the service was very quick. The food also came out the same for everyone, even though we only ordered one dish twice. I'd be happy to go back next time I'm in Bremen. Prices are moderate.

Very delicious food, great service, and lovely traditional charm. We came here spontaneously, but were very late for lunch (3:00 p.m.). A beautiful half-timbered house serving German cuisine, with waiters dressed and behaved in classic style, complete the ambiance. The prices are very reasonable for Bremen city center, and the portions are quite large. We'd love to come back; there's still plenty on the menu waiting to be eaten 😋

We had reserved a nice table with the waiter at lunchtime so that we could spend a lovely evening together. We arrived punctually 10 minutes early and were shown a plain table in the next room. The manager at the beer bar, annoyed in his overcrowded restaurant, just said that the waiter had behaved improperly, that no tables could be reserved and... take it or leave it. He's not interested in reviews. We opted for the leave option. In short, unprofessional behavior, just mass processing. In retrospect, we're grateful because we had a wonderful evening a few meters away at the Katzen Restaurant, where every euro was worth its money without the hectic crowds. Make up your mind.

Beck's is truly terrible, and even the local Haake Beck can't save the situation. This isn't the restaurant's fault, of course, but rather the AB Brew group. 👉 I 100% recommend this restaurant.

If I gave it four or five stars, I would visit the restaurant again. We were there two evenings in a row and had a good meal. It's a cozy restaurant where people can also stand at the bar and drink beer. The food is well-crafted and offers good value for money, which is significantly better than other restaurants in Bremen (for example, on the market square). The fried potatoes, which came as a side dish with all of our dishes, were very good. Now it's Matti's time, and we made full use of it. Matti's platter with four different herrings and fried potatoes is highly recommended. The Captain's Platter ranges from crab grave, salmon, herring fillet (very tender and lightly salted. It had a wonderful fishy flavor) to scrambled eggs with fried potatoes. A bit of everything, a real protein punch. The beer is well-tapped and fresh, and even goes well with fish. You have to overlook the fact that one of the servers was a bit gruff. We arrived and said it was 4:00 in the afternoon that we wanted a drink first, but would like to sit down. He said that's not possible; drinks are only available at the bar; sitting at a table is only for food. Maybe he has They also misunderstood us, because I had explicitly stated that we wanted to eat a little later. Well, there was a lack of understanding and polite manners. Therefore, a total of four points. But we would come back because the food is of good quality for a restaurant. Smiley leaves after dictation.

We managed to get a table here quite spontaneously. The service was very friendly, attentive, and prompt. The atmosphere is rustic, with older wooden furnishings, which gives the restaurant a lovely traditional feel. The menu offers good German cuisine. I had fried potatoes with bacon and chanterelle mushrooms. It tasted really good, although I would have preferred the potatoes to be a bit crispier. The value for money is decent. However, the portions might be a bit small for very hungry eaters. The very cramped restrooms are also a minor drawback. Overall, though, it was a good visit with a lovely, old-world feel.

Rustic atmosphere, German food. Delicious and affordable food. Not recommended for autistic children, but the staff did their best, but the tables were close together because the interior is small. We also made reservations quite late when traveling. It's better to go by public transport or on foot; it's in a nice old part of Bremen.

Waited for over a hour for our food it never came, we finally walked out. Don’t go here if you want to eat!!!

We got to this place by a recommendation from a city tour. The place is very beautiful, similar to an Irish pub. The food is very very good, and there is good quantity, so even if you eat a lot you'll be full if you finish the plates. Definitely a place I would recommend to have lunch.

The Pann Fisch dish was delicious. The restaurant is located in the Schnoor district and is housed in an old building, which offers a very pleasant ambiance.

We had the schnitzel, which was delicious, but a slightly older gentleman served us and was not very welcoming. When I asked for a menu suggestion, he gave me a blank look and refused to share any ideas. I think it was because we were tourists, but while he was being so friendly with other customers, we were left without even being acknowledged. It was a disappointing experience for the above-standard prices. I don't think I would recommend it.

We were looking for some traditional local dishes on the last night of our holiday and were lucky enough to find Becks in'n Schnoor. We were welcomed in and a table found although we hadn't reserved. The meal was delicious. I started with the Hochzeitzuppe , a traditional German wedding soup of consommé with meatballs, chopped omelette, and vegetables, while my partner had a sampling dish of seasonal pfifferling mushrooms ( similar to chanterelle, I think). For mains he had geschnetzeltes, a pasta dish with pork and vegetables, while I had the Bremer Labskaus, both accompanied by a German dry white wine. The labskaus is a meat hash with an egg on top, accompanied by pickles, including gherkin, beetroot and even pickled herring. The portions are generous, too.

Lunch, delicious food, friendly staff

We spontaneously came here for dinner on a Saturday afternoon. The waiter didn't know the words: hello, please, thank you, goodbye. When we ordered our food, we asked a question about the menu. The food came out exactly the opposite. When we asked about it, the answer was that that's just how it is. If the food had been good, perhaps they could have overlooked it. However, we got two dishes that were a mixture of frozen and ready-made products. There was no response at all to our criticism or a farewell. Don't be fooled by the beautiful location. Find somewhere else.

We got a table for four on Friday at 6:00 p.m. without a reservation. The servers were prompt; drinks came fairly quickly. We had three different meals, all of which were delicious. The portions were also OK. The atmosphere was great in this beautiful location. We would eat there again.

From the moment we entered we where made to feel welcome. The food was excellent and we felt authentic mother Germany fair. Smoked trout on bread sounds simple but beleive me, it works so well. Getting choked 4 different ways, excellent. For less than €70 a true bargain.

Went here for dinner with a friend today. A very nice restaurant with excellent food. Our server was also amazing, just like the "old school." Very friendly with a hint of mischievousness. He managed to convince my wife to try the fisherman's platter; she didn't regret it and ate it all. Keep up the good work.☺️😀

Saturday lunchtime, the restaurant completely empty inside. We're standing at the entrance – with friends and a baby in tow – and just want something to drink. Maybe something to eat too, if they let us. A very small request for a restaurant, you'd think. But then the secret star of the place enters the stage: a visibly annoyed man, neither recognizable as a waiter nor as someone who's ever practiced a smile. Without greeting, without any sign of interest, he asks us with the charm of a train station usher: "What do you want?" I politely explain what we're up to – but that seems too much to ask: "Just at the bar. Nothing else." No table, no seat, no welcome. Empty inside, but obviously full of principles. And for people who just want a drink, there's no place in the brave new gastronomic world of the Schnoor anyway. To top it all off, the instructive postscript: "This is a restaurant." Thank you for the tip – as a Bremen resident who has spent numerous evenings in this establishment (including business visits), I had actually missed it until now. How could we have thought they still welcomed guests here? Well, it seems they no longer need it. Tourists only come once anyway – so it's okay to let the mask go. And regulars with babies? They don't seem to fit the current operators' concept anymore. In conclusion: If you value hospitality, you'd better steer clear of this establishment. Fortunately, there are still places in Bremen where you're not immediately lectured as you walk out the door.

Good food but in my opinion the prices are a bit high. Portions are normal. In principle, it is quite tasty. The place is very colorful as is the whole Snoor area.

Four of us ate here. The verdict: not good, nothing special. Schnitzel, below chip shop standard. Fish, like, opened the package and then put it on the plate. Asparagus, way too expensive and also not good. Fried potatoes, substandard. Fried eggs tasted somewhat like meatballs.

There were 10 of us there. Upon arrival, we were met with a disinterested attitude. Of the 10 people, 6 wanted to order food. As a result, we were asked to leave our tables and insulted. This kind of experience is probably only something you'd find in places that have made enough money from their reputation. We left the place immediately. Anyone who wants to be treated badly by the staff and appreciates an unfriendly environment should plan a visit there.

The service staff was incredibly rude! First, he threw the cards on the table, and then he refused to serve the table because "only" 6 out of 10 people wanted something to eat. When we finally didn't want to eat anything and just wanted drinks, he got really loud. This kind of service for this price is ridiculous and embarrassing. It's also exorbitantly expensive by Bremen standards. You can't explain this with Hanseatic friendliness.
