Just drop in and enjoy the cozy atmosphere. The duck was simply divine. Juicy, crispy, and incredibly delicious. If you have the chance, you should definitely visit the Bavaria Alm. The sweet mini pretzel is also highly recommended 😊

I went for brunch and the food selection was very good. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Unfortunately, there are only paid parking spaces nearby. I would still come back, though.

The restaurant suffers from an atmosphere that, downstairs in the middle, resembles a noisy, overly lit dining hall. Party music in the background clashed with the subtle Christmas decorations. While the burger was impressive both visually and in terms of taste, the vegetarian dumpling was unfortunately a disappointment.

The price-performance ratio is really poor. The pancake soup contained only 1/16th of a pancake. The other dishes were also disappointing.

Beautiful surroundings. However, the staff is very rude. No one even greets you. You can wait 45 minutes for your food. And then the extra vegetables I ordered were missing. I had to wait another 20 minutes for those. The waiter then advised me to just eat slowly. My food was cold by then. The food itself was mediocre. Typical tourist restaurant. What a shame. Hard, unseasoned fries and burger buns that were also dry and hard. There were no sauces with the dishes, and most came with a fried egg, which was also hard. As a result, the food was rather dry overall. The mushrooms in my vegetables tasted rotten, but that was the only thing that had any flavor at all. Furthermore, I think it's outrageous that you have to pack up for an extra 1.5 hours for €5.

Sled lift okay. Toboggan run bad. The restaurant was so overcrowded that there was no chance of getting anything warm with frozen children. The indoor restaurant was so busy that you had to reserve two days in advance. So, planned as a nice outing, but very disappointing.

The Kaiserschmarrn was awful, tasteless, and very dry. When I asked the employee about it, he said he understood—it's a pre-made product. I suspect a lot of the food here isn't cooked from scratch. I can easily reheat commercially prepared food at home. I think there are better restaurants that actually serve cooked food for the price.

Delicious food and fair prices. The Kaiserschmarren (shredded pancake) is also highly recommended! We didn't need a reservation during the week. The restaurant is also dog-friendly – ​​a big plus. Overall, a very pleasant visit. The only downside is the paid parking.

Charging €10 for parking when two people are dining is outrageous. I paid almost €90 for the meal. Overall, the worst value for money I've ever experienced. Two main courses, two drinks, and two shots for €90 is debatable, but then charging €10 for the parking time is simply unacceptable.

First, the positives: The Bavaria Alm is very child-friendly and welcomed our 8-month-old baby just as warmly as we did. We were provided with a good high chair and received friendly service from the pleasant staff. However, the food is best described as needing improvement. From the homemade bread to the beef roulades and the kale with smoked pork loin, everything tasted like carelessly thrown-together convenience food: too salty, dry, and absolutely not worth the price (we paid around €75 for two people with three courses). The Kaiserschmarren (shredded pancake) was a small consolation, okay, but just as overpriced. In short: a tourist trap.

Super delicious food with generous portions and friendly service in a Bavarian atmosphere. MINUS: If you come in the evening when the Turm is closed, you still have to pay for parking. While this is beyond the restaurant's control, paying an extra €5 for 1.5 hours of sitting in the restaurant is really excessive.

Honestly, there isn't another restaurant nearby. So, even if they served a piece of *** on a plate, people would eat it. Nevertheless, the food, the atmosphere, and the service are top-notch. Thank you for a wonderful evening!

Place was empty and. They took so long to serve and even to come eoth the bill I need to stand up and get ready to leave and then they finally came with the bill

The food was okay, the location good. The schnitzel was great, but the pork knuckle was unfortunately dry. We mentioned this to the server, but it was neither acknowledged nor commented on. When we asked if we could have sweet mustard with the white sausage (which we consider a given, it's part of the meal), they brought a small pre-packaged packet and charged us €1.50 for it. Everyone should form their own opinion, though.

If you don't want to be annoyed on vacation and want to be treated kindly, you'd better steer clear of the Bavaria Alm Torfhaus. We were greeted at the entrance by a female field marshal who, in a commanding tone, briefed us on the entry rules and made it clear to us that WE were the supplicants here. Sent back outside to wait, we moved to the Wienerwald across the street, where we were warmly welcomed and served.

We spontaneously stopped by on Sunday and got a table after a very short wait. The service was professional but not particularly friendly or personalized. The food was disappointing overall. Our 4-year-old ate the entire "large portion of Kaiserschmarrn." Nevertheless, he still needed a sandwich in the car afterward to fill him up. The Käsespätzle and Leberkäse were also very simple and tasted below average. A schoolchild commented: "It tastes better at my school!" Conclusion: We probably won't be back.

We ate at the Bavaria Alm on October 12, 2025. We've been coming back for years, but yesterday's food was terrible. The roulades were black on top and gray on the bottom. The Mole Trog wasn't what it used to be either. Sauerkraut had no flavor, the white sausage was cold, and the fried potatoes were lukewarm. Unfortunately, this will be our last visit.

The food is not only a highlight in terms of taste, but also impresses with its high quality and fresh ingredients. The only minor drawback: the portions could be a bit larger. However, the service scores highly with its friendliness and attentiveness. The menu is varied and creative – there's something for everyone here. We'll definitely be back!

Portion sizes are average, and prices are relatively high compared to market standards. Reservations on weekends are strongly recommended. Ample parking and a bus stop are available on site.

After many years, I returned to Bavaria Alm Torfhaus. The food was fantastic, and the staff was super fast and friendly. I always enjoy going there. I'll be back as soon as possible.

Bavarian specialties in the Upper Harz region. A bit pricey, but delicious! One drawback: Using the parking ticket machine without cash during heavy rain was frustrating. It works much better elsewhere 😭

We've been here a few times now over a period of four months. It keeps happening that the food goes back to the kitchen; it's not warm, only lukewarm. If you say something, the waitresses don't look friendly anymore. Today we were there, and several tables immediately returned cold food. We've decided not to eat there anymore, if at all, only to have a drink when we're there, or to go somewhere else.

We just waited here for over 20 minutes and then left after no one wanted to serve us. The place wasn't even half full, but we were served right away at the Wienerwald restaurant next door, and the food arrived in 3 minutes. The restaurant is also much nicer and newer than that crappy Bavaria Alm with its terrible service. So, thank you for not serving us and for letting us find the much better restaurant next door! I would therefore recommend everyone to go directly to the Wienerwald instead of here if they're at Torfhaus.

The food was fantastic, the staff super fast and friendly, but you have to be careful: you'll be asked a lot of questions when ordering, all of which cost extra. The biggest annoyance was the parking. The parking lot doesn't belong to the restaurant and there's a fee, which you only realize once you're inside.

The breakfast buffet at the Bavaria Alm am Torfhaus impresses with a wide selection of hot dishes, delicious desserts, and freshly baked bread and crusty rolls. Friendly and attentive service completes the experience. Of particular note is the cozy Bavarian-style ambiance, which, with a real fireplace, creates a particularly cozy atmosphere.

This was our first time at the Bavaria Alm at Torfhaus. A shared breakfast followed by a climb up the tower was planned. Unfortunately, the weather, with storms, rain, and fog, made it impossible for us to stay outside. So we stayed in the cozy Bavaria Alm and thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast. And it was delicious; there was everything you could wish for, both savory and sweet. From muesli to pancakes, sausage, cheese, scrambled eggs, savory Beacon, and even fruit, everything was freshly prepared. Coffee, juices, etc., were served by the friendly and efficient service staff. The ambiance of the restaurant was so pleasant, thanks to the fireplace in the center and the rustic, cozy design, that we almost forgot about the rainy weather outside. All in all, despite the bad weather, it was a successful day. We would gladly come back and will highly recommend the Bavaria Alm Torfhaus.👌👌

While the Harz region is searching for its identity, the Bavaria Alm is taking matters into its own hands and installing a temple of Bavarian hospitality in the heart of Torfhaus. Whether it's schnitzel with fried potatoes or pork knuckle with three kinds of sausage, a gentian to wash it down, or the "Fläsdlesuppe" (a kind of soup) to warm you up with, even Markus Söder would hug a dead tree here. Plus: wonderful service that embraces you from the very first second, as if you've finally returned to the warm lap of Mother Brocken after a long hike through the cool Harz temperatures. I'd love to give it 6 stars.

We were there and wanted to eat outside, but even though the table was set, we weren't served at our tables and asked to choose another. When I asked, I was "brashly" yelled at. The food was average.

I've never been served so quickly. It was a regular afternoon, so I got a table right away. A waiter was there to take my order. The drinks arrived in a flash, and the delicious food arrived shortly after. Payment was also very prompt. I was very satisfied.

Despite the fact that the restaurant was packed, a table was found for us within a few minutes. The food was delicious and definitely recommended. The service was fast, friendly, and unstressed (or at least didn't show any signs of stress). The Bavaria Alm at Torfhaus is definitely worth a visit.

We were really looking forward to our visit, but were unfortunately very disappointed. First, we had to wait an unusually long time for our food – significantly longer than you'd expect in a restaurant of this type. Meanwhile, we sat at tables that were far too close together, making it impossible to feel comfortable or have a peaceful conversation. When the food finally arrived, the fries were unfortunately only lukewarm. On top of that, even standard dips like ketchup and mayonnaise are served in tiny mini jars and charged an extra €1.50. This seems completely overpriced to us, especially since they're simple, standard products. Other dips are even more expensive, which makes the overall price-performance ratio seem completely unbalanced. Unfortunately, the ambiance and presentation couldn't make up for the aforementioned weaknesses. All in all, we are very dissatisfied with our visit and see no reason to come back.

Hello everyone! After a day trip, we stopped by the Bavaria Alm. We and our dog received a very warm and friendly welcome. The menu arrived quickly, and we were able to place our order quickly. The unfamiliar iced tea flavor with elderberry and berries that I had chosen tasted absolutely delicious. When our food arrived after a while, we were looking forward to a culinary delight. Unfortunately, the dishes we chose were anything but tasty. We chose the spare ribs and the fried bread burger. Both were completely dry, as if they had been heated up in the microwave. I don't mean to imply that, though. But honestly, I've never eaten such dry and bland spare ribs. Even smothering them completely in sauce didn't help. The fries get one star. All in all, we were very disappointed and can't understand the many positive reviews.

The five stars aren't really convincing. One server was very prompt and attentive, the others not so much. The wait for the beer... The food selection is extensive, and the wait was acceptable. I was there at 7:30 p.m. on a Wednesday, and most of the guests were served. With a good dose of seasoning, my hot Mediterranean potato with redfish fillet was delicious. Spice grinders at the table make this possible. The portion was ample. Bavarian Löwenbräu is delicious anyway. The gentian for dessert was the icing on the cake and the deciding factor for a 5 ⭐️. 😉
