Here you can enjoy good food in a traditional atmosphere. The price-performance ratio is excellent, and the staff was very friendly. We'll gladly come back again.

Today, after a long break, I went to the Bavaria Alm (Garbsen) again. My impression from my last visit hasn't changed... the staff is friendly, but you have to wait quite a long time (40 minutes) for the food. Furthermore, the table and cutlery were dirty, and we had to get our own napkins (the table box was empty). The food itself (Tyrolean beef goulash) was oversalted, and the sauce (which is actually quite tasty) was completely mixed with the spaetzle water from the cooking pot, making it barely edible. The second dish (sliced ​​beef with rösti) was also oversalted, and the rösti, which should have been crispy, were swimming in cream sauce, making it (more or less) a mush. In short: anything but "recommended." When we then saw that the long hair of a waitress, who was carrying the food around the restaurant on a tray on her shoulder, was "garnishing" the pork knuckles, we decided we didn't want to eat any more. The actual tip stayed in my wallet... what a shame!

We recently visited the Sunday breakfast buffet and brunch with a group of 14 people. First and foremost, the food was excellent 👌🏼 A fantastic selection of hot and cold dishes. The red cabbage was especially good, provided you're into that sort of thing at 10:30 am. But the breakfast classics like bacon and scrambled eggs were also top-notch. Regarding the service: Unfortunately, the shortage of qualified hospitality staff is noticeable here, even though I suppose it's common practice for a chain to rely on students and temporary workers. Nevertheless, we were served extremely courteously. Two things I would suggest for improvement regarding the service: The lack of plates at the buffet. After about an hour, there were no more plates available. If the plates didn't sit piled up on the guests' tables for 1.5 hours, I think the problem would be solved. It would also be great if, for those who like a light beer on a Sunday at that time, it could be served cold; ours were much too warm. Unfortunately, the drink order process, aside from the long wait, wasn't perfect either. Instead of a Coke Zero, we got a regular Coke… no problem at all, these things happen, but you can't expect the customer to keep the regular Coke and pay for it… The ambiance is fantastic, of course, with all the wood and the fireplace. The only downside is the incredibly awkward blue seat cushions, which they should have just left out. It's an extremely cheap solution that makes you slide around on the smooth wooden chairs the whole time. Plus, they fall off every time you get up. Nevertheless, I'll be back and I'm looking forward to more delicious food at a fair price.

Unfortunately, we had bad luck with the service at Sunday brunch. We had to wait ages for our drinks. Our dishes were never cleared from the table, and used plates were left there. The food, however, was fantastic! It tasted amazing! Everything was replenished quickly!

A local restaurant with a menu of soups, salads, and a variety of meat dishes. I had a dreamy goulash soup and a great Caesar salad. I had a wonderful apple strudel... in short, highly recommended!!!

The service was friendly enough. Unfortunately, breakfast was rather disappointing. It was quite expensive, and drinks weren't even included. The breakfast buffet cost €20.90 per person, and with the rather pricey drinks, you quickly end up paying over €30. The selection was also rather limited. The food tasted okay, but I expected more for the price.

The food was okay... But the service was terrible. They took our order separately... The food was okay, but the Kaiserschmarrn was awful. I've never had such a bad one; it tasted like nothing, and even the vanilla ice cream couldn't save it... All in all, I won't be coming back with my family.

We celebrated a 65th birthday here with a large group and took advantage of the Sunday brunch. There was plenty of parking. Unfortunately, the start was a bit bumpy. Coffee and water bottles with cups and glasses were (presumably pre-arranged) already set out on all the tables. However, these weren't enough for everyone seated at each table. Unfortunately, some of the glasses that had been turned upside down were clearly dirty with greasy fingerprints on them. Dirty dishes were a recurring problem throughout the day. Bowls and plates were often not clean. Perhaps the dishwasher should be checked? It seems this wasn't the first time the dishes were dirty, judging by other reviews. The breakfast selection was okay, but the containers were often empty, and we had to wait quite a while for them to be refilled. Used dishes, cutlery, and glasses weren't cleared away properly; we always had to stack and move them ourselves to make room on the table. Cutlery is only available in small baskets on the table. Unfortunately, the trays weren't regularly restocked, and no one pointed it out. The food is a matter of taste. Many found the kale too sour, and the smoked pork loin too salty. The duck leg, however, was at least tasty, even if the skin was simply slimy (but that's probably to be expected with the warming trays). The fried potato pieces were the only thing that was really hot and crispy. Drink orders were taken regularly, but sometimes took a very long time. The restrooms had a rather strong odor, and the faucet and soap were out of reach for children (up to about 6 years old). Perhaps a small step stool could be placed in the restrooms. A small play area would be nice, as one tends to stay for a while. However, we had a large oval table in a quiet corner, which we quickly transformed into a play area ourselves with our own coloring books. Conclusion: Service, cleanliness, and food could be improved; the ambiance was okay.

We were here for the first time today, and we'll definitely be back!! As a native Bavarian, I'm absolutely thrilled. The food was delicious, the atmosphere beautiful, and the service friendly and attentive.

We held our 50th class reunion here. The food was good and the atmosphere was inviting. The service was outstanding! Super nice and friendly, and very prompt. We'd love to come back.

We had lunch here on Sunday afternoon on our way to a handball game. We made a reservation online for around 10:00 a.m., which made sense. The time it took to order was acceptable. The service was friendly and good. The selection of food and drinks is very good. Perhaps a few more vegetarian options would have been appropriate. The wait for the food was acceptable. All four dishes were brought at the same time. Overall, it was quite tasty, but too fast-food-style for a top rating. The roast pork was circular, a rather unusual shape. The ambiance was very pleasant, and the restrooms were also suitable. We would definitely visit the restaurant again if we were looking for a restaurant serving traditional cuisine in the region. P.S. It's very commendable that the Sternsinger (carol singers) are supported.👍

It was very busy on a Thursday. A welcome change. But not exactly traditional Bavarian compared to a brewery.

Just as you'd hope and expect, hearty and good. The cheese spaetzle were a bit dry for my taste. The rest was perfectly good.

Yesterday, six of us adults went to the Bavaria Alm in Garbsen. The restaurant was well attended, but not completely packed. After placing our drink orders, our food orders were also taken. The waitress, who admitted to being new, seemed a bit unsure, which is understandable, but was nevertheless very friendly and nice. The drinks arrived after about 20 minutes, and the soup after another 10 minutes. After another 30 minutes, three of our orders arrived. The waitress apologized for the long wait, as the kitchen was in chaos. After another 30 (THIRTY!!!) minutes, two of the three missing meals arrived!!! The waitress apologized again and offered us a portion of fries on the house to tide us over, which we accepted. After another 20 minutes, we ordered another portion of fries and canceled the missing dish, as our hunger and enjoyment had already dwindled to zero. The manager of the restaurant informed us via the waitress that the second portion of fries wasn't on the house, since one portion of fries was more than enough for a missed main course?!? When we expressed our displeasure at this completely dismal service while paying, we were offered the opportunity to speak to the manager upon leaving. All in all, our visit to Garbsen was very disappointing!!! It's understandable that chaos can arise in the kitchen. But the management's approach is absolutely unacceptable. If an order is delayed, they let you know at the table and bring all the dishes to the table together late in the evening. And if such a mistake does happen, an apology in the form of a round of short drinks or something similar from the restaurant would help calm the situation down. It's a shame our evening went this way. The food was still very delicious, but unfortunately, we'll never be able to review it again. Ate here twice within the last month (10/25). The food was delicious, arrived quickly enough, and the staff was super friendly. The price was reasonable. I paid just under €175 for five people. My recommendation: Molle Holztrog 👍 I recommend making a reservation for the evening!

Once upon a time, there was a little elf who went on a long journey with Santa Claus every year. They flew in a sleigh over snowy rooftops, brought gifts, and shone their lanterns up to the stars. Sometimes, even during the year, they came incognito. And on such a trip, the little elf had a special wish: to stop in Garbsen! Because there, there was something that made her heart beat faster – the giant Grana Padano dumpling with malt beer sauce. Every year, she sat on her little chair, swung her legs, and waited longingly until the fragrant dumpling was served. Then her eyes shone brighter than any Christmas light. But then – oh dear! – her favorite dish was gone from the menu. The elf leafed through the pages, searching, sniffing hopefully, but… nothing. No Grana Padano, just the malt beer sauce, no luck on her plate. "How am I supposed to steer the sleigh now?" she sighed softly, slumping her shoulders. "Without my dumpling, I won't have any elf power left at Christmas! It's already October!" Santa Claus looked at her sadly, stroked her little felt hat, and grumbled: "If my elf is so upset, then next time I'll come with my rod—not to scold him, but to wake up the kitchen!" Because everyone knows: Santa Claus needs his chicken with gravy and dumplings instead of fries, the reindeer need their braids—but elves? They need a Grana Padano dumpling with lots of gravy, otherwise the sleigh won't fly well! And so the little elf hopes that her favorite food will return soon— so that Christmas will taste a little more magical in Garbsen too. Perhaps... she thinks... there will be an elf menu. Napkin dumplings, as many as the dumplings of old, with a few Parmesan flakes on top – and lots of sauce! She can then steal some red cabbage for Santa while he's looking away (it always tastes best stolen!). And for dessert: Kaiserschmarrn (sweet pancakes) with plum compote and ice cream! And maybe she can try chestnut soup, too!

We've been there several times for brunch over the weekend. It was always highly recommended, with its delicious Bavarian buffet and reasonable selection. From regular breakfast items like muesli, rolls, bread, cold cuts, Mett (a kind of meat), fish to typical hearty Bavarian soups, spit-roasted or crusted roasts, Maultaschen (a kind of pork pudding), sausage salad, pretzels, etc., they have everything that's delicious and will fill you up :-) The whole thing is rounded out with a selection of fruit, yogurt, rice pudding, red fruit compote, and a machine that makes pancakes at the touch of a button. This is, of course, a big hit with the kids, especially the Nutella dispenser, which dispenses portions of Nutella at the touch of a button. There's no shortage of liquid treats either. All kinds of coffee specialties are available on the menu alongside regular non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages. Or, if you prefer something typically Bavarian, you can start the day with a wheat beer or a liter of beer. We always feel very comfortable in the ambience there, especially when the fireplace is lit in autumn and winter.

We spontaneously stopped by today on a Sunday. The service was very accommodating to our youngest child and handled his impatient nature very professionally. The ambiance is, as always, very cozy... we were escorted directly to a table by the fireplace. Due to space constraints, the tables there are a bit small. Unfortunately, we discovered that some of the dishes were reheated... for example, the mashed potatoes were dried on the edges, as if they had been heated in a microwave. The grilled sausages and meatloaf were also very greasy... they should perhaps have been drained or patted dry before serving. Some dishes or components of them were only lukewarm. But the fried potatoes were really good, and the salads were fresh, too. All in all, it seemed as if today hadn't been the best day for the kitchen staff. Which was a shame...

We were at Bavaria in Garbsen on Sunday. The ambiance is really nice and cozy – high praise for that! The food was also mostly good, although I had the impression that not everything was freshly prepared. The large parking lot right in front of the door is also a positive. Unfortunately, there are a few points of criticism: We had a reservation and arrived on time, but were merely shown to our table with a gesture of our own – a short escort service would have been much friendlier. The plates weren't cleared promptly, even though the restaurant wasn't particularly busy. I also wanted to order a large jug of orange juice, which unfortunately wasn't possible. They didn't ask for any other drinks or requests, which seemed a bit inattentive. Despite everything, it wasn't a disappointment, and we'll definitely be back again – but perhaps a little staff training in the service area would be helpful to reflect the pleasant ambiance in the service.

We were there for lunch. The food was okay—a bit more presentation would be a good idea, and the service could be a bit more attentive (clearing the table, asking for more information). The cleanliness and smell of the restroom weren't great. A second visit isn't planned for now.

We were there late at lunchtime, having made a reservation just in case. The menus were spread out on the table so we could choose at our leisure. I opted for a dumpling with sauce. The dumpling was nice and firm, the onions on top were nice and crispy, and it came with a delicious brown sauce for dipping and a tasty little salad. The server was very attentive and suggested dessert or coffee. After paying, we sat on the outdoor terrace for a few minutes until the sun went down. We'd gladly go back!

Fast-food restaurant. If you like warmed-up frozen food, this is the place for you. The atmosphere is really nice, though, and the service is excellent.

We were at the Bavaria Alm in Garbsen last night, and I was looking forward to the cheese spaetzle. Normally, the cast-iron pans in the restaurant are piping hot, and the cheese spaetzle are glistening with melted cheese. It's so hot, you sit down and don't even dare to start. Today, the cast-iron pan was just for show, and you could have just used a plate. The cheese spaetzle were warm enough, but not hot, and unfortunately, very dry. The small side salad was really very small. All in all, at €14.90, it's overpriced for the portion size. I estimate the cost of goods to be less than €3. A waste of money. Therefore, I'm only rating the service and the ambiance, because those were good.

Yes, absolutely. We were invited to a birthday party as a group of six. I highly recommend everyone go there for dinner. We visit Garbsen once a year and then go for dinner. The drive there is 85 minutes, but it's worth it.

BAG is the best example in Metro.Hannover of feeling like you're in America, because that's how Americans imagine Germany—the building style, menu, parking, service, fireplace, and food. Organic Germans who have traveled there know that it's truly American, especially the excellent service and the big P. And that's exactly why we love going there. Thank you, thank you. The staff is courteous and friendly and regularly checks on guests' well-being, even during busy times. Should any mishaps occur, they are resolved as quickly as possible. Overall, I highly recommend the Bavaria Alm in Garbsen, especially for fans of Bavarian cuisine looking for a convivial time.

A truly cozy atmosphere, very quiet thanks to the abundance of wood in the interior. Small seating areas, allowing for easy conversation... Very friendly staff, a well-stocked buffet, and a varied menu as well. A lovely place to relax and well worth the price. It's best to request a reservation in advance.

If you want to wait two hours for the chance to place an order, then go for it! And that's when the place is half empty.

We'd love to come back next time we're in the area. We highly recommend it.

After a long time, I finally returned to the Alm, and it was absolutely worth it. The staff is very warm and attentive, and the food is delicious. I'm already looking forward to my next visit!

Unfortunately, it was a flop for us. We're used to fantastic service at the Torfhaus Alm, but that really didn't work out in Garbsen. While polite, it was incredibly slow. Our order was incomplete, and then we had to wait again. It took almost half an hour to even be greeted, with the restaurant at about 30% capacity. Then we waited forever for our order. The schnitzel was lumpy, while the fried potatoes were quite wobbly. It could, of course, have been unlucky, but the visit was still really not that great. The drinks were good, when they came, so we got one star for that. Cold, reasonably carbonated. Nothing to complain about. The ambiance is nice, and the large parking lot is a huge advantage. So we're giving it three stars. These are generously fair for our visit. It's a shame, but it just wasn't meant to be. We probably won't be coming back, but we wish the Bavaria Alm Garbsen team all the best for the future. ☺️ Edit regarding the response: We naturally addressed all the issues raised on-site, politely and directly, but unfortunately, none of them were resolved, even though we "gave them the chance." The knuckle of pork was lukewarm to cold inside. Service was OK. Update 7/21/25: I sat at a table for 25 minutes. The waiter preferred to smoke and was not attentive at all. Then I left. That was the last time I'll visit a restaurant like that. Really sad. I would replace the entire staff.

Plenty of free parking, a rustic atmosphere, and you could take your own cushions for the outdoor benches. Service was prompt, but the food was unfortunately lukewarm, not hot. It tasted good. Prices are on the high side. No "goodbye" or "have a nice day" was said upon leaving!

We came spontaneously. We were looking for a restaurant on Google Maps and came across this lovely restaurant. I felt like I was in another region. The ambiance was great, and the service was very friendly. They also gave us some great recommendations, like the Kaiserschmarn from the pan. This was perfect for sharing with a group of people. The original Alpine schnitzel with fried eggs and fried potatoes was delicious, and the Wirtshausplatterl also looked great. All in all, a lovely evening with delicious food, a great ambiance, and excellent service. I will definitely come back.

We've eaten at the Alm several times now. Twice for Sunday brunch. Highly recommended. Great selection, they always make sure that the food is replenished and that everything is clean. This time we were there for the à la carte menu on Sunday. The aperitif was great. The food tasted good. Lots of meat (but that's what I wanted). The dessert was a bit small for the price. The star deduction is because my friends had to complain about their meals. The dumplings were undercooked and cold inside, and the venison goulash only had three pieces of meat on it. Mistakes happen. Our server responded very well. The meal was made again without any problems, and we got a second helping of goulash. So a clear recommendation. We will definitely come back. And remember: If something isn't right, speak up. Give the kitchen and staff the opportunity to rectify mistakes.

The ambiance is really cool and cozy. I hit my head twice on some hanging flower pots and gutters on the terrace, which I find dangerous. The food was delicious. We would have even ordered another drink if the waitress had asked. All in all, OK.

The service is beyond criticism. Only after the meal is it pointed out that card payment is not possible. Not only us but also other guests were affected. The main thing is that you have made sales and the guests don't leave again. The mushroom cream on the schnitzel was already bodily harm. 2 poor styles in a glutamate soup. Simply disgusting. Käsespätzle don't deserve their name either. Simple spaetzle with a little cheese on top. The profit margin is quite large. The dumpling itself was tasty but for me half the quantity would have been enough, but I would have liked a small salad which would normally have cost an additional €4.80.. then a dumpling with salad would have been €20.. I think that would be too much..

Super nice restaurant! Unfortunately the food is not very good and still very expensive. We had homemade lemonade, which was really bad. Schnitzel with mushroom sauce was okay (but way too expensive for over 20 euros). Fries were cold. We won't be coming back!

We had a lovely and relaxing evening at the Bavaria Alm. The team was really nice, attentive and the food arrived quickly and hot :-) our dog was also very welcome. We had 2x schnitzel, half a chicken and once sliced ​​chicken.

We went to brunch at the Bavaria Alm in Garbsen with 10 people - and were bitterly disappointed. The buffet was a disgrace: liver cheese and white sausages were hardly refilled, just 6 sausages for the entire dining room! Pretzels or other pretzels? None. Apparently people are on a budget here - and that with a brunch that isn't exactly cheap. For what was offered, the price is a disgrace. It's clear: we won't be coming back and can't recommend the store to anyone. After my 4th attempt I finally got a white sausage.

A great restaurant that my friend and I visit again and again. Every visit is a pleasant experience, the service is good and the staff are always friendly and humorous. The food always tastes good. If you're looking for good German cuisine, this is the place for you. My friend speaks highly of the Brathänl and orders it here every time.

The food was so good and our waitress was wonderful. I was the only non-German at our table, and the sweet server brought me a menu in English. The beef goulash and spaetzel was wonderful. My friend's husband got the meat platter and it was fantastic. The star of the show was this beer drink with aperol and fresh lemonade, lime, and mint. I cannot wait to come back to Germany so I can go again.

What can I say? Whenever we're in the Garbsen area, we always try to get a seat at the Bavaria Alm. Here, everyone gets what they like, whether it's the spaetzle and schnitzel for my son or my wife and I, who always try something new. The service staff is always very friendly, and we feel comfortable and well looked after. The atmosphere isn't bad, but especially when it's full, it gets very loud very quickly. But hey, we're not the only ones who love it here! :-)

Unfortunately it wasn't nice. Service was very bad, not once did the waiters come to us voluntarily, we had to walk to the counter and ask several times to even order drinks or something similar. Unfortunately, when approached cautiously, the response was curt and nothing was changed. We were there with a large group and it was a shame to waste the money for such a service. Food was great as always.

Had a very tasty meal there. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. We also received great advice on planning a birthday party. Thank you very much for that. After the celebration there will certainly be another experience report. UPDATE: March 2020 The celebration in the beautiful, cozy parlor in the Bavaria Alm Garbsen was great, as expected. We were very well entertained with 20 guests. The food came absolutely at the same time. It was delicious. All guests were satisfied without exception and our 80-year-old birth child was even more so. All thumbs up. We'll be back. Many thanks also to your great staff. UPDATE March 8, 2025: another birthday, 85 this time, brought us back to the Bavaria Alm. The great service is still great. Eating on point at the same time. Everyone totally satisfied. You are great❤️❤️❤️

Very tasty food, ambience invites you to linger, service friendly and accommodating.

I live in Oberallgäu and felt at home on the evening of the visit. I will definitely come back. From the staff to the food to the ambience, the 5 stars awarded here are not enough.

Rich buffet for Sunday brunch. Coffee and orange juice cost extra. The glass of champagne on the birthday brought the price per person to over €30, but that's not the everyday standard.
