Real German restaurant. The portions were so big that everyone had to take a doggie bag home. Seems a bit exaggerated to me. The quality was fine though. There were very few people so there was no real atmosphere. That was a bit of a shame.

We were there for the breakfast buffet. Unfortunately, I've never seen so many "emptied and not refilled" records. The rolls were also above average hard. The coffee was way too strong for most people, although that is subjective. The staff was friendly and, in my opinion, came to the table a little too often to ask or clear away things. We didn't particularly like it and probably won't go there again.

Were there for a birthday breakfast. The location is beautiful, very rustic and quaint and quiet. However, we arrived half an hour late and there wasn't much left. I think that the buffet will be rushed at 10 a.m. and then it won't be refilled. Only demand should be filled, otherwise too much would be thrown away. Unfortunately, nothing happened when we asked for a few more fried potatoes. You didn't have to completely fill up the entire buffet, but you could have expected smaller quantities, after all, you paid for it. Luckily we were invited, but we won't be going there again.

We ordered Jägerschnitzel. First came the salads, and they were delicious. But unfortunately the same cannot be said about the Jägerschnitzel. The schnitzel was too thick, the sauce tasted completely different than expected. In general I would say that it wasn't a real schnitzel - the meat was just fried with breading. However, the atmosphere was good and the service was friendly too.

Wir haben für 21 Personen (Goldhochzeit meiner Eltern) reserviert. Das Reservierungsbuch war so gut wie leer und wir wurden an 2 auseinander stehenden Tischen platziert. Lange Tische sind möglich! Aus meiner Sicht ein no-go und inakzeptabel. Ich habe ein freundliches Gespräch mit der Chefin gesucht. Sowas von unfreundlich, aggressiv und arrogant... unfassbar. Meiner Meinung nach hätte man uns vorher darüber informieren müssen. Von einer Feier mit mehreren Personen würde ich jedem abraten. Den schönsten Tag will man sich nicht von so einer Person versauen lassen.

We were there for the first time today. A great atmosphere in the old barn. Beautifully decorated. Very friendly and courteous staff. The buffet was very good and it was continually replenished. We'd love to come back.

A really nice farmer's café with really good food, whether cake, buffet or warm dishes. The portions are very generous. The ambience is as you would imagine. Loving and somewhat rustic. We like coming here.

Rustic, cozy farmer's café in a beautiful location. The ambience is wonderful, both outside and inside. We were here for the breakfast buffet. It was packed, but there was enough for everyone. Very large selection of sausage, cheese, eggs and much more. The highlight for me were the shrimp. The only thing I missed was Nutella.

A lovely farmer's café, quietly located, with a lovely outdoor area and a cozy interior. We had a very good breakfast here, the buffet was plentiful and beautifully presented. The staff is very friendly and helpful. There are many free parking spaces in front of the house.

Great buffet, nice service, only the coffee could be improved Were there again yesterday. The coffee is still bad. The buffet offering is great if you don't want to go twice. Not everything was replenished. The baked schnitzels looked great. Unfortunately I can't judge the taste.

Today we had breakfast at the Torenhof in Alpen Menzelen. It was very tasty, but what we didn't like was that the buffet wasn't replenished in a timely manner, which should actually be a given at a buffet.

Very creamy and "heavy" food, very strongly seasoned. Good home cooking like it was 20 years ago, nothing for high cholesterol and unfortunately not convincing in any other way. It was heavy on our stomachs... Fish and chips were seasoned with the same spice and somehow the whole thing had little resemblance to a light lunch. The chef was very nice, the waitress didn't feel like it. You can definitely eat schnitzel with fries here in the town, but it's not worth it for anything more. An update on the dishes and preparation is urgently needed here. The surroundings are wonderful and invite you to relax.

We always like to come back. The food is simply awesome. Everything is prepared fresh and with love. Not only does it look great, it also tastes super delicious. If you don't get enough here, there's something wrong with you. Nice service and everything very familiar. We also like to stop here for a piece of cake. Can only be recommended. Whether you sit outside or inside, it is simply cozy. All I can say is, try it.

Very large restaurant, more for groups. Somewhat old furniture, some worn out. Very boring cake, different but basically always the same, sponge cake base with cream in between.

A rustic location and definitely a good choice for a party. We were only there for coffee and cake and sat outside. It would be nice to sit outside if it weren't for the constant blast of pop music. Schlager is not for everyone. The cake was more towards quantity rather than quality, but just okay. But the cappuccino and the pot of coffee were bad. Maybe there was a bad bean in between, that can happen. And the beer we needed to wash down didn't taste that good either. Maybe our taste buds were damaged by the coffee.

Wir waren mit unserer Familie und unseren beiden kleinen Kindern dort zu gegessen. Ambiente und essen war in Ordnung, die Inhaber sehr unfreundlich und Kinder sind dort überhaupt nicht erwünscht. Für uns ist das Bauerncafe durchgefallen. Mit Kindern absolut nicht zu empfehlen.

For the price of 23.50 per person we expected more. There was, for example no grains, rolls, no quark and not even Nutella for the children. The fried potatoes were also empty and were no longer refilled. The scrambled eggs were made from whole eggs from the Tetra Pack. I can't understand that at all. Especially in a farmer's coffee shop you should rely on regional products... It's a shame actually.

We were invited to breakfast on the occasion of a birthday. The food offered was plentiful and delicious. Coffee was always refilled. The waiter was attentive and friendly. The cakes are delicious, but way too big. All in all, the Torenhof is recommended.

Large farm cafe with a beautiful outdoor area. After a bike ride, I like to take a little coffee break there. The cake is homemade and tastes great. The coffee too. A nice atmosphere and very friendly staff. The breakfast buffet on the weekend is said to be excellent, I'll try it out when I get the chance. Always my pleasure.

We've had dinner several times with our friends. Everything was great inside and out, we always feel very comfortable there.

Torenhof, invited to brunch today, Sunday. Well, you think there can't be much new here on the Lower Rhine. All farm cafes and beer gardens are actually well known, after all people have lived here for decades. Knows all the bike paths and the surrounding area. But Torenhof, completely unknown. That was a mistake. We were completely surprised. Rarely, hotels are sometimes an exception, I have experienced such a selection at the breakfast buffet. Everything was neatly set up. Salmon, shrimp, many types of sausage and cheese. Small vegetable boats with different creams, all types of egg preparation. Sausages, bacon, meatballs, a large selection of bread and rolls. Sweet and also a great selection of fruits. Coffee (well, warning: “groaning at a high level”, the taste could be improved here), tea, cocoa. Always resupplied. Attentive and friendly staff, busy bees, no rush, prompt. Special requests, such as flower vases, extra drinks, all with a smile and a nice demeanor. The tables were cleared of used dishes in a timely manner. Nice atmosphere with a barn character. I could also imagine a celebration here. A hidden gem with family roots. We were invited and our host assured us that the restaurant menu and food were also worth a visit. I will expand my bike tours here. I'm looking forward to the beer garden. Unfortunately the opening times are only limited to the weekend.

Went there for breakfast for the first time on Saturday with 10 people and our expectations were more than exceeded, everything was made very lovingly and everything tasted great. I have to say they are really, really nice people. I can't rave about it enough. Breakfast and dinner are highly recommended.

When I asked if there was anything else besides cake, the answer was that without a reservation it would take a long time. There were two of us and the other person wanted coffee and cake anyway. So it would have been a small thing for one person. I got the impression that they weren't interested in that and would rather just sell cakes. Unfortunately there were only 3 types at the buffet. I found the final bill absolutely outrageous, the cake, admittedly not small, but nothing special, €4.70. A pot of tea, consisting of water and a tea bag, also €4.70 and a coffee, which the taste suggested was instant coffee, also €4.70. Under such circumstances, no one should be surprised that guests no longer eat anything out.

Great breakfast, nothing more is possible

We were here for breakfast. Unfortunately too expensive for too little selection. After 11 a.m. there is hardly anything left and the rolls are very dry. At least the cake looked great.

Stylishly furnished restaurant. Nice service, great food, huge schnitzel, I had Holsteiner with a whopping 5 fried eggs on it. The salad included in the price alone, with fresh fruit, would be enough for some people as a main course...

Ich hatte heute das Vergnügen, an einem Geburtstagsfrühstück teilzunehmen und habe das überwältigende Buffet sehr genossen. Eine unglaubliche Vielfalt an unterschiedlichsten Aufschnitt, Käse, Fisch, Obst, Joghurt, Dessert, Kuchen… Alles mit viel Liebe zum Detail angerichtet. Ich wusste nicht, was ich zuerst nehmen sollte 🤩 Ich kann die Location wärmstens empfehlen. Wer ein ausgedehntes und hervorragendes Frühstück mit einem perfekten Service genießen möchte, dem empfehle ich wärmstens das Bauerncafé Restaurant Torenhof Vielen Dank für den schönen Vormittag, wir kommen gerne wieder.

We were on tour in Wesel and looked for a restaurant outside using Google. When we got there we were totally surprised by the great atmosphere and the friendly service. The highlight then came with the food. There was a tasty salad and we haven't eaten such a good schnitzel in a long time! You should have a healthy appetite because the schnitzels are powerful. Fried potatoes and fries were also great. I'm afraid we'll come back again.

Delicious food, but dishes that were too big and therefore expensive. A Jägerschnitzel for 22.90 euros is already close to the upper price limit. It took almost 1 hour for the food to arrive.

We are regularly on site. Top cuisine, very nice service and great ambience. Only recommended!

Wir sind zufällig hier gelandet und waren mehr als begeistert. So einen leckeren Vorspeisensalat hatte ich nur selten in einem Restaurant und auch die Hauptspeise war alles frisch gekocht (keine Tiefkühlschnitzel) meine Tochter hatte Chickennuggets und die sahen definitiv nicht aus wie von McDonalds, selbstgemacht und mega lecker. Die Umgebung ist auch sehr schön viele Felder und ein paar Schaafe und Hühner haben wir gesehen, und wir waren bei Regenwetter dort. Kann es wirklich nur weiterempfehlen und ist einen Besuch wert. Wir werden auf jeden Fall wieder kommen, denn wir waren so voll das wir die Torten nicht mehr probieren konnten.

Sehr leckeres Essen, Extrawünsche wegen Allergie waren kein Problem, ganz tolles Ambiente und freundliche Bedienung 👍

Getränke die man 3 mal bestellen muss bevor sie denn tatsächlich kommen, Essen: Salat der schmeckt wie aus der Dose, kaum ein Blatt Salat dafür aber jede Menge Früchte mit trocken gebratenem Hähnchenfleisch. Da trösten einen die riesigen Tortenstücke auch nicht mehr.

Außenanlage sehr schön. Innen verstaubt und dunkel. Trotz Reservierung und vorheriger Ankündigung der Essenswünsche schien die Order von zwölf Essen plus Getränken eine schwierige Aufgabe zu sein. Das Personal wirkt nicht routiniert. Das Essen selbst ist nicht gut. Forelle völlig tot gebraten. Huhn trocken. Seltsame Salatzusammenstellung mit Früchten und Salatdressing. Küchenstücke so groß wie ein Viertel Kuchen. Stachelbeere 👍Erdbeer/Himbeer(?) Sahne erinnerte an quengeligen Fruchtzwerge Geschmack. Dringend an der Küche arbeiten! Servicepersonal ist rar, das kann ich noch verstehen.

Sehr ernüchternd! Ich habe auf einer Fahrradtour Sonntags mittags um halb eins eine Pause gemacht. Der Nachbartisch (4 Personen mittleren Alters) bekamen sofort die Speisekarte. Ich musste mir zunächst anhören, dass Essen noch dauern würde, weil noch Buffet sei. Alles gut, geht aber auch in freundlich. Irgendwann bekam ich netterweise die Karte. Die liest sich gut und auch die Gerichte am Nebentisch sahen gut aus. Mein Essen kam dann auch (hat auch gar nicht so lange gedauert) und es war durchaus sehr lecker. Allerdings ging es dann weiter, ich bekam nichts mehr zu trinken, keine Frage ob ich einen Nachtisch wollen würde, das dreckige Geschirr lies man einfach stehen. Zum Bezahlen musste ich dann nach vorne gehen... Gastronomie lebt insbesondere vom Service. Und der war leider einfach unfreundlich. Schade. Ort und Ambiente sind nämlich echt nett!

Leider kann ich für dieses Restaurant keine Empfehlung abgeben. Ich habe Filet bestellt und meine Frau Lachs. Also so schlecht hab ich noch nie gegessen. Das Filet was Medium bestellt war war durch, total versalzen und dann verkohlt Krustig. Das frechste war das er mir noch Geld dafür abgenommen hat, obwohl das komplette Gericht zurückgegangen ist. Es kam noch die Frage ob ich gerne das essen mitnehmen würde. Unglaublich. Beim Lachs war die Tütensoße mit dem Butterfett der Kartoffeln vermischt. Der halbe Teller war voll Butter. Das Beste war das sich der Koch entschuldigt weil soviel zu tun war. (Es waren mit uns 6 Personen im Lokal). Keine Empfehlung

Ein wundervolles Restaurant, mit einem Ausdrucksstarken Ambiente zum Landhaus. Es ist sehr schön gemacht. Das Essen ist ein Traum und super hergerichtet. Kann ich jeden weiterempfehlen

Hallo, wir waren leider nicht begeistert. Es lief deutscher Schlager und Besteck sowie Gläser waren sehr dreckig. Die Kuchenstücke sind sehr groß aber das war angesichts der Musik und dem schmutzigen Geschirr egal. Kellner war freundlich und hat sich entschuldigt. Vielleicht war nur der Zeitpunkt schlecht?

Kinder unfreundlich. Und beim Buffet wurde nicht nachgelegt. Kaffee war ungenießbar.

Sehr schönes Ambiente,etwas kühle Temperaturen,aber okay. Essen war nicht besonders, aber im Rahmen.Kaffee und Kakao waren im Preis inbegriffen, Wasser usw. Sind kostenpflichtig. Parkplätze sind vorhanden, wir mussten allerdings an der Straße parken.

Wir waren zum Kaffee und Kuchen anlässlich meines Geburtstages dort . Sehr schönes Ambiente. Hat was ländliches, weswegen wir auch da waren. Der Kuchen war himmlisch....und Riesen Stücke. Der Kaffee schmeckte uns hervorragend. Wir werden auf jeden Fall wieder dort hingehen. Wenn man wettermäßig nach draußen kann, es gibt dort ein ganz winziges Tiergehege. Auch schön für Kinder.

Super freundlich. Essen reichhaltig und schmackhaft.

Das Essen ist wundervoll hier, große Gerichte im amerikanischen Stiel, dass Fleisch schön durch und saftig und das Ambiente ist Hervorragend. Ich habe mich hier sehr Wohlgefühlt und die Bedienung war freundlich und hatte ein sicheres Auftreten. Ich kann auf jedenfall sagen es lohnt sich hier her zu kommen sie verpassen was wenn sie es nicht tun und die Preise sind sehr fair für diese großen Portionen.

Wir haben uns gestern sehr wohlgefühlt auf dem Torenhof. Ambiente top, Kaffee und Kuchen empfehlenswert und das Personal, sowie die Betreiber, sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Egal ob Groß oder Klein, jeder Gast ist herzlich willkommen.

Frühstück war super. Wir waren 3 Stunden beim Frühstück und es war nicht langweilig. Auf dem Buffet war alles was man braucht. Hat sehr gut geschmeckt und war immer reichlich da. Es lohnt sich.

Aufgebackenen Brötchen ,keine so toller Aufschnitt und es war doch kalt im Restaurant. War unterirdisch!! Ich kann es nicht verstehen wie man dort 5 Sterne geben kann ,weiterempfehlen.... niemals. Glutenfrei Speisen, Hafermilch oder ... sucht man vergeblich.

Es ist ein gemütliches Ambiente.Die Mitarbeiter sind freundlich.

Ganz okay aber einmaliger Besuch. Das Frühstücksbuffet war okay, vie Auswahl an Wurstsorten jedoch wenig Geflügel und Rind, meist nur Schwein. Die Käseauswahl war auch nur mäßig. Absolutes NoGo ist das Personal bis auf einen Kellner, denn er war super nett, aufmerksam und freundlich. Ich bin ein Freund von Corona Schutzmaßnahmen. Hier werden weder am Eingang noch am Buffet oder beim Bedienen Infos ausgegeben. Wenn man ohne Schutzmaske das Buffet betritt wird man übelst "angemotzt". Es waren ca. 4 separate Gesellschaften vor Ort und keiner wusste es somit wurde einmal unfreundlich in den Saal gerufen: "Jeder der hier herum läuft trägt eine Maske und am Buffet sowieso, sonst kann man den Raum nicht betreten". Nur komisch dass das Pesonal so gar keine Maske getragen hat. Die Bedienung am Tisch war auch Mangelhaft. Ich wurde nicht einmal nach meinem Getränkewunsch gefragt. Bei der Auswahl an guten und sehr guten Cafés werden wir diese nicht mehr besuchen. Schade.

Einfach nur Gut und Gemütlich. Nette Bedienung.

Die Portionen sind weit größer als wir erwartet haben. Von den 17 bestellten Gerichten wurden nur zwei aufgegessen, da es einfach zu viel war. Der Geschmack wiederum war sehr gut. Das Fleisch war gut gegart nicht roh nicht trocken und alles andere gut abgeschmeckt.
