Bastet in Detmold

At first we were very surprised by the appearance of the establishment and its location. It is located in a beautiful place, which looks like a nature reserve. We saw several species of interesting birds, one breed of which we had never even seen before. There are black swans swimming there, beautiful ducks and some other interesting strange birds 😁 Then we were surprised by the welcoming and friendly staff, who were very intelligent, attentive and wanted to help us with every question. We only ordered drinks, we will definitely come back to try this interesting cuisine. I would also like to note the frequency and pleasant interior, beautiful flowers, wooden tables are pleasantly clean toilets with a wonderful peach smell 🍑 ))) In general, we highly recommend it!

My wife and I ate at Bastet for the first time on Saturday. We discovered this idyllically located restaurant by chance, and the menu posted outside immediately piqued our interest. The food was truly a culinary delight. It was a completely new taste experience for us, and we thoroughly enjoyed being given such a friendly and warm welcome as we did here at Bastet. We'd love to come back and can only advise everyone to try something different than just pizza and kebabs. The price/performance ratio here is truly fair, and you can't fault it. See you soon, we'd love to be your guests again.

Great!! If you want to eat something different than the usual tourist menu of pizza, fries, schnitzel, knuckle of pork, etc., you should take a seat at Bastet. Great ambiance in a former warehouse. Run by a young team, everything is spotless and tidy. The menu is an oriental experience... indeed! After a culinary-interesting appetizer plate (mezze for two), I had the "Nubian lamb fillet" on a bed of vegetables with basmati rice. Top! This is what lamb loin should taste like.!! The house red wine was immediately replaced with a new bottle after a first "failed" attempt. Great! By the way, the great photos from the other reviewers speak for themselves... Absolutely recommended!!

We can recommend Bastet 100%. What a fantastic young team! Everyone was very friendly and accommodating, making us feel completely at home. The food was an explosion of flavor! We were so enchanted by our meal. The spices used catapulted us into another world. The location is a fantastic combination of culture and modernity. A very successful concept in a half-timbered house. The price-performance ratio is absolutely perfect. We reserved a table in advance, so we didn't have to wait. Very nice location, friendly service, and a pleasant atmosphere – a delight even in the summer rain! I really enjoyed my visit to Bastet. The restaurant is quietly and charmingly located in Detmold's old town, with a sheltered outdoor area that allows you to sit outside in a relaxed atmosphere even in light summer rain – a real plus! The service was extremely friendly, attentive, and pleasantly unobtrusive – you feel welcome and well looked after as a guest. The food: I had the avocado hummus for starters. It was fresh, creamy, and balanced with a subtle hint of sesame. The pomegranate seeds added a fruity kick – unfortunately, they weren't quite fresh anymore, which was a bit of a shame. The main course, Palestinian-style kapsa, was very filling and warming. The portion was generous, and the dish overall was filling. Unfortunately, the rice was noticeably overcooked, and the chicken was quite dry and tough. The otherwise delicate oriental spices were unfortunately overpowered by a dominant paprika aroma – I would have preferred more nuance here. The cranberry-rhubarb spritzer, on the other hand, was refreshing and fruity. Overall, a lovely place with a lot of potential – I'd be happy to return and look forward to more dishes from the diverse menu.

We were at Bastet in Detmold yesterday. We were very surprised by the menu; we'd never seen anything like it before. Don't be fooled, because we weren't disappointed. Quite the opposite: this meal was a revelation. The service was a bit reserved but still attentive. You just have to get used to it. A very nice, clear menu with many dishes we weren't familiar with. After studying the menu for a long time, we ordered, and it was incredibly delicious. To anyone else who hasn't eaten here before, we just say, "let yourself be surprised and enjoy." Friendly service, and the vegetarian mezze starter was lovely. Unfortunately, the vegetarian main was almost exactly the same as the starter (which might have been useful had the waiter highlighted this to us upon ordering) and the couscous was very oddly spiced, tasting more like a pasta sauce than any couscous dish I've ever eaten before. The lighting on the ground floor is very harsh, which is a shame as the building's interior is lovely and could be used to great effect, but unfortunately in it's current set up it has more of a fast food vibe, which I assume is not the intended look. The Baklava was delicious though, and made for a nice end to the meal.

Unglaublich leckeres Essen (Daoud Basha) mit sehr freundlicher Bedienung. Abgerundet durch sehr gutes Baklava (nicht zu süß, schön mandelig) und einen hervorragenden Mokka im stilvollen Kännchen.

It's very relaxed, good for people who like foreign food

Very tasty food - but the service is always a bit of a hit and miss, sometimes you get the card straight away - sometimes you wait until someone shows up. Inside it's very clear when it comes to seating - I would always reserve there. In summer you can almost always find a place to sit outside!

Spontaneously went here for something to eat. We were surprised by a meze to be taken for 2 people as a starter. This was a tasting of 7 different snacks. Then we decided to have a couscous dish for 2 people. This consisted of different types of meat and vegetables and a piece of salmon. We then decided to have a dessert for 2 people which consisted of yogurt with different nuts, honey, red syrup and baklava. On warm days you can sit outside on the moat or on the outside terrace.

But it would be very nice if the waiter could speak so much German, English or French (whatever...) that he would also bring the guest the food and drinks that were actually ordered (after multiple inquiries and confirmation...). Very nice Lebanese restaurant with interesting authentic cuisine, the ambience outside with a view of the back of the city palace is picturesque just like the restaurant inside. Service was also excellent, as was the food!

This is an excellent restaurant. We were excellently served and enjoyed delicious food with a beautiful view. Especially in good weather, this restaurant invites you to a wonderful meal. The atmosphere was pleasant and relaxing, and the staff was very attentive and friendly. The menu offers a wide variety of dishes, all freshly prepared and beautifully presented. I can recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a special culinary experience.

Very idyllic sitting by the water. The food was very tasty and “something different”. However, the service is a bit uncoordinated and we had to wait over 1 hour for our food. However, the wait was completely worth it in terms of taste.

Outdoor dining by the water. Very nicely located. Interior rather spartan. Sufficient dishes to choose from. Delicious. Served in matching crockery. Gin in cognac snifters and then with peppermint leaves doesn't work. It has to stay in style. Suitable glasses should then be used. Overall we were satisfied.

Vegans! Here we enjoyed a delicious dish: falaffel, tabbouleh salad, houmoes and Lebanese bread for €12.50 pp. Absolutely recommended.

Really brilliant oriental food, not just the usual, super nice service. Beautiful on the inside, but even better on the outside. We've been there several times, even though we don't live in Detmold.

We were here because we had eaten delicious tappas here a few years ago, but now the owner has apparently changed or the direction has changed. An employee who barely spoke German and was listless couldn't give me any satisfactory information. The food was ok, some of it could have been better seasoned, the bread as a side dish was rubbery and almost inedible, we fed it to the pigeons. My minced meat filling was cold at one point. The waitress who brought the food was very friendly, but the gentleman who served the drinks was very unfriendly to compensate.

Just wow!!! Everything was so delicious and fresh, the meat tender and so flavorful! We were there with 11 people and had enough space to dine comfortably. The service was super friendly and took care of everything. So I can confidently recommend the boys and their cooking skills and give the restaurant a clear 5 stars!!! Kind regards and thank you!!! I can only say good things about the restaurant. Very comfortable inside and out, the staff were friendly, the food was delicious. However, we would have liked to have ordered one more drink with our meal, but that is meant more as a tip ;)

If you like oriental cuisine or if you like starters or vegetarian food, you are in good hands here. We had a great evening at Bastet in a fantastic location right on the water. The food was just great. The starter plate for 2 people is highly recommended, but the main courses were also delicious. It's a shame we're leaving and can't enjoy the food there again.

Very nice little oriental restaurant. We were there at 7 p.m. and there wasn't much going on. I really liked the decor, it was very comfortable. The staff was very nice, often came to the table and asked if everything was OK. This restaurant is highly recommended.

Heerlijk twee avonden gegeten, omdat we het de moeite vonden om nog eens terug te komen. Zo lekker. En zo’n gevarieerde kaart! Op de kaart ontmoeten gerechten van rond de Middellandse Zee elkaar en dat maakt dat je erg gevarieerd kunt kiezen. We hebben ervan genoten! We konden heerlijk buiten zitten en dan kijk je prachtig over het water weg. De bediening was vriendelijk en zorgvuldig, echt een aanrader!

The waitress put the menu on the table without a word and disappeared again without asking if I would like something to drink. I had a bit of a feeling of being inconvenient. But what was ordered was served quickly. The Nubian lamb wasn't on top, but under the sheep's cheese sauce - I had to look for something 😉 - but that didn't make it any less delicious. No one came by during the meal, for example to ask if everything was OK, but after I had finished eating, the room was cleared up promptly and the bill was brought. Conclusion: The ambience and service are good, the price-performance ratio is reasonable, the food is top.

Unfortunately, this is not for everyone. There were 2 food moths flying in the restaurant. The first impression seemed quite nice but then the food came. Phew, I don't know what it's like, but my rice smelled strange, somehow like... How should you describe it? To camel stable??? Was an extremely strange smell. Unfortunately, this also took over the taste of the entire meal. It's a shame, it looked really interesting at first. The service was nice but seemed rather bored. Instead of asking if everything was okay or if you would like something more to drink, the gentleman stood leaning against the counter, busy with his cell phone. I don't want to be hasty and will give the Bastet another chance, but until then my rating unfortunately has to stand as is.

Last week we spontaneously decided: let's go out for an Egyptian meal. The menu sounded interesting, the location on the castle moat was beautiful. Then the order. A dish was not available, but unfortunately the waiter didn't tell us this until a few minutes later. And then of course waited at the table until you decided on something else. The appetizer. Mezze, a little bit of everything, is always good. We asked that they be made vegetarian. Yes, of course, that's not a problem. The starter came (we had ordered drinks for a while but hadn't received it yet) with the note "everything is vegetarian except for this one". "That one" was the meatballs that weren't available as a main course... The food came quite quickly and tasted good too. The dessert. Again after a few minutes: “we don’t have it”. Unfortunately there was no alternative for the customer. We don't need to talk about the fact that one thing or another might not be available, especially during Corona times. But this should be communicated to the guest at the latest when they order it so that they can choose an alternative at their leisure. It was just starting to rain, so we decided we'd just have another cocktail here, assuming that if I offer a cocktail menu, I also know how the cocktails are made. With all my love: neither white sugar nor lemon belong in a mojito! But even if everything else had been great before, the toilets would have ruined everything. It is clear that you hardly have a chance of fighting flies in summer. But it might help to keep the toilet clean instead of trying to cover up the smell with scented sticks... All in all, unfortunately not the dinner we had hoped for. We will still give the restaurant another chance when we get the chance; Maybe we really just had a really bad day. Update April 2024 A spontaneous lunchtime visit to the State Museum. We were a little late; It was almost 2 p.m., so there wasn't much going on. The "inside" is functional, but not as beautiful as the outside. The service was friendly. But it would be nice to wash your hands every now and then, especially when you first touch used glasses and then bread... The food, however, was extremely tasty! You could give it one more star if you could. The portions were more than enough even for good eaters. All in all, a much more positive experience than the last visit!

The food was to my liking. Never had oriental food before and found it really tasty. Small restaurant with very few tables. Not very comfortable. In summer there are plenty of opportunities to sit outside.

Very nice decor, nice matching effortless Arabic music to the food to match the lovely ambience. The service is always very friendly and the food always tastes very good. We'd love to come back.

Es war wirklich soooo lecker. Die Vorspeisen sind einfach top gewesen, 12/10. Und das Hauptgericht auch eine 10/10. Immer wieder gerne :-)

Sehr leckere Speisen und Getränke und eine freundlicheBedienung! Wir hatten Lamm mit verschiedenen Beilagen und marrokanischen Minztee. Lecker!!!

Wir waren von dem Essen schwer enttäuscht. Wir hatten alle unterschiedliche Gerichte. Bei keinem der Speisen war es geschmacklich abgestimmt. Bei meinem Gericht war das Fleisch sehr zäh. Das Hähnchenfleisch bei dem Shawarma sollte mariniert sein, war lediglich mit Salz und Pfeffer gewürzt und sehr sehr trocken. Auf den Toiletten war weder Seife noch Trockentücher. Überhaupt war es auf den Toiletten nicht sauber.

Wir saßen sehr angenehm im Außenbereich (leider nicht direkt am Wasser). Der Service war gut, ebenso wie das Essen. Die Hühnerleber war gut gewürzt und butterzart. Andere Gerichte hätte ich mir persönlich pikanter gewürzt gewünscht, insbesondere die Kibbeh. Das wird aber mit ziemlicher Sicherheit am generellen Geschmack der Kunden liegen, nachdem mir das bereits in dem indischen Restaurant in Detmold aufgefallen ist. Damit klare Empfehlung!

Es war unser erster Besuch im Bastet. Das Bastet ist in einem alten Fachwerkhaus untergebracht. Das kleine Lokal bietet nicht viele Sitzplätze an, aber ist dafür umso gemütlicher. Die Auswahl der Speisen und Getränke ist sehr interessant und abwechslungsreich. Unser Essen war sehr lecker. Die Bedienung ist freundlich und schnell.

Wer arabisches Essen mag ist hier richtig. Ich bin in einer Woche zweimal hier gewesen.

Ein sehr netter Restaurant, orientalisches Essen, sehr lecker! Aus dem Grund bin ich nochmal dort gewesen. Personal auch nett. Leider ist das Ambiente nicht schön, die Tische sind so leblos, an den Wänden Flecken, in den Ecken Spinnenweben. Der Eingang und die Tecke aber gut.

Ein Kellner im Jogginganzug lädt nicht wirklich zum reinschauen ein... Es muss ja nicht die fliege um den Hals sein, aber ein etwas repräsentatives Outfit, gerade im aussenbereich, wäre mMn passender.

Beim bummeln durch Detmold sind wir vor diesem wunderschönen alten Haus stehen geblieben. Ein Restaurant mit arabischer Küche.... Nettes Lokal, Essen sehr lecker, aufmerksamer Service. Vom Ambiente im Lokal war ich dennoch ein bisschen enttäuscht. Aber bei unserem nächsten Besuch in Detmold werden wir zum Wiederholungstäter😃

Draußen wie drinnen sehr schöne Einrichtung. Das Essen ist wirklich Mal was anderes, wer Lust hat auf eine orientalische Reise zu gehen und verschiedene Sachen zu probieren ist hier genau richtig. Die Plätze draußen haben im Sommer einen traumhaften Ausblick auf den Schlossteich. Das Personal ist super nett und zuvorkommend mehr kann man sich echt nicht wünschen. Das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis ist sehr gut.

Wir waren bisher zweimal dort. Draußen am Wasser sitzt man im Sommer wunderbar. Innen ist es nicht ganz so schön wie draußen, aber auch vollkommen in Ordnung. Das Essen war lecker, authentisch und von den Portionen absolut ausreichend. Das Preis - Leistungsverhältnis passt. Der Service war beide Male sehr nett, könnte nur manchmal ein kleines bisschen aufmerksamer sein. Wir kommen definitiv wieder.

Wir waren für einen Kurzurlaub in Detmold und waren überrascht, hier ein orientalisches Restaurant mit vielfältigen Speisen aus Palästina, dem Libanon, Ägypten und auch Marokko zu finden. Mein Mann und ich waren total begeistert! Als Vorspeise hatten wir eine Auberginencreme mit Sesamöl und eine pikante Hühnerleber, beides war der Hammer und mega lecker 🤤! Als Hauptspeise hatte mein Mann eine marokkanische Pute in Currysauce mit getrockneten Aprikosen und Couscous, ich hatte ein Gericht aus Palästina bestehend aus Lachs mit Reis und Gemüse in einer scharfen Soße. Es war so unglaublich gut und der Service sehr aufmerksam, ein leckeres Erlebnis und wir bedauern, dass wir 560 km entfernt wohnen. Übrigens gibt es hier auch alkoholische Getränke.

Bei unserer Tour nach Detmold haben wir das Restaurant entdeckt. Von der Ausstattung des Gastraumes hätte ich mir vielleicht etwas mehr "Arabisches Ambiente" versprochen. Aufmerksame Bedienung, sehr nett, freundlich und höflich. Das Essen war gut 👍 angemacht und geschmacklich ein neues Erlebniss. Sehr lecker und reichlich.

Sehr leckeres Essen ! Die Preise sind nicht ganz billig, dafür sind die Portionen sehr groß und sättigend. Das Ambiente wenn man draußen sitzt ist super schön.

Hervorragendes Essen, schneller freundlicher Service und tolles Ambiente. Das ganze zu zivilen Preisen. Eine absolute Empfehlung.

Angefangen von Jalap (Dattelschorle mit Mandeln und Pinienkernen!) über die Mezze (probiert diese kalten Vorspeisen!) sind wir bei Ballah (Datteln mit Schinken in Schafskäsesosse) hängen geblieben. Pappsatt und glücklich saßen wir am Wasser. Ein Familienbetrieb in dem irgendjemand genau weiß was schmeckt, die Bedienungen auf Zack sind und dabei sehr locker bleibt. Danke, wir werden sicher wieder kommen!

Die Außenplätze am Schlossteich sind vor allem im Sommer ein echtes Highlight. Die Arabischen Gerichte sowie die Bedienung sind hervorragend.

Gestern wieder mal im Bastet essen. Wieder super lecker. Die Bedienung war auch sehr angenehm freundlich und aufmerksam. Die Speisen kamen frisch zubereitet und ziemlich zeitgleich an den Tisch. Vorspeisen und Hauptgerichte konnten wir so super gut probieren und kombinieren. Wir waren alle begeistert und freuen uns auf den nächsten Ausflug nach DT, der sicherlich wieder im Bastet endet. Dann werden wir wohl auch vorab die Köstlichkeiten-Platte bestellen.

Am Samstag nach langer Zeit mal wieder hier essen gewesen. Top Gerichte die echt lecker 😋 sind. Das Ambiente ist auf den Tischen schlicht gehalten. Die Wände sind entsprechend der Herkunft dekoriert. Draußen gibt es auch genügend Platz. Parkplätze stehen nicht direkt zur Verfügung aber ca. 10 Minuten entfernt.
