We have now returned to the Barfüsser for the second time. This time also for food. We sat in the cozy seating areas towards the counter. We just find this very cozy and quiet. The service was always immediate. And after a short wait, he brought us the extremely delicious food. We'd love to come back.

I really wanted to eat a good schnitzel again during my stay in Ulm and I chose the Barfüsser because of the positive reviews. I was there very early on a Sunday afternoon, but it was very busy. But I got a place. I was served quickly. I really enjoyed the house beer. The food came relatively quickly. The giant schnitzel described turned out to be normal size. Unfortunately, the fries weren't my cup of tea at all, very thin. They almost tasted like oven fries, I can also make them at home. The meat was OK, but nothing more. At least I took a bottle of beer with me for the hotel room. Conclusion: Unfortunately I can't understand the many very good reviews, I don't recommend Barfüsser, at least for schnitzel. Sorry

Were placed as requested, friendly service and quick service. The portions generous. The beer selection was extensive and delicious. Gladly again.

Spätzle kalt und zugekauft, Maultaschen ebenfalls und nur von durchschnittlicher Qualität. Das Fleisch wurde selbst angebraten aber das war’s dann auch. Bier wie in den meisten „neuen“ Hausbrauereien schlechter als von der vorhandenen mehrere hundert Jahren alten Brauerei

Dec/2024 I stopped by one of their breweries. To try delicious drinks and try ordering food as well at Barfüßer Hausbrauerei Ulm, right in the middle of the city, behind Ulmer Münster. . Order Schnitzel (German Tonkatsu) to eat with a delicious vegetable salad. They also have hot beer, with spices and orange peel, similar to Gluhwein. Very delicious. Without exception, the waitresses are all very friendly and quick. The inn is very clean, harmoniously and comfortably furnished. The menu offers something for everyone and the quality and appearance of the food is excellent. I had spaetzle with lentils and seitla. My companion had the tarte flambée with salami. The drinks menu is large and there is incredibly good home-brewed beer, but also plenty of non-alcoholic drinks. A reservation is strongly recommended here!

Die Bedienungen sind ausnahmslos alle sehr freundlich und flott. Das Gasthaus ist sehr sauber, sowie stimmig und gemütlich eingerichtet. Die Speisekarte bietet etwas für jeden und die Qualität und Optik der Speisen ist hervorragend. Ich hatte Spätzle mit Linsen, sowie Seitla. Meine Begleitung hatte den Flammkuchen mit Salami. Die Getränkekarte ist groß und es gibt unglaublich gutes selbstgebrautes Bier, aber auch reichlich alkoholfreie Getränke. Eine Reservierung ist hier dringend zu empfehlen!

Had a spontaneous meal on Sunday afternoon and was seated for four without a reservation. The restaurant was well attended. Excellent location right in the center. Dishes were generously portioned and also very tasty. Just a little too salty for our taste. Price-performance was perfectly fine and the atmosphere is also very cozy!

Unfortunately, the restaurant has declined significantly. I was really looking forward to my onion roast with cheese spaetzle, but the portion was disappointingly small - especially the cheese spaetzle, of which there was only a tiny amount on the plate. For the price I would have expected to be full, but unfortunately that wasn't the case. A few weeks later I gave it another chance and just ordered cheese spaetzle. Unfortunately the same picture: the portion was much smaller than before, despite the increased prices. I used to love it, but it's just not worth it anymore. What a shame! The taste is good, but just not enough.

Today I had dumplings with mushrooms in cream sauce and salad at Barfüsser. The dish came in a small pot, which made it difficult to eat the dumplings. In the end it was more of a mush. Served on a plate, the dish could have been enjoyed better. There was nothing wrong with the taste. Unfortunately I wasn't asked if I liked it.

Lage ist super, mitten in der Stadt. Das ist das einzig Gute. Ich hatte Maultaschen mit Kartoffelsalat. Die Maultaschen waren lauwarm, die Sauce schmeckte nicht. Der Kartoffelsalat war definitiv aus dem Eimer. Meine Freundin hatte zu ihrem Gericht einen gemischten Salat, das war ein Geschnibbsel mit Fertigdressing. Sie hat nur drei Gabeln gegessen. Die Spätzle von meinem Freund waren auch nicht wirklich das, was man unter Spätzle versteht und vor allem auch nur lauwarm. Leider kein Besuch mehr von uns.

Spontaneously visited this restaurant at the weekend, it was busy but the spacious space meant there was space. Ambiance was also nice and cozy. The first condition was friendly. In addition to drinks, we ordered an onion roast with fries and also a potato salad. My companion a schnitzel with fries. In short, the schnitzel was smaller than usual and the fries weren't even Burger King standard. The roast was the worst I've ever had. Medium does not mean raw and the onions were tasteless than an onion can ever be. The fries are also weak. Likewise, the potato salad that was ordered extra was a pair of mushy potatoes dressed with water and pepper. After roasting, I thought I couldn't be more disappointed, but the K.Salat far exceeded that. The roast was fried again after the 3rd service came because the 2nd one couldn't understand it with her mushy and non-accommodating behavior. When the friendly question was asked whether you could get some ketchup with the fries (without sauce, etc.), waitress 2 responded in a very unfriendly manner and in a sexually discordant tone and gesture: “I told you the rest will come!”. In general, the stay was probably the last due to the conditions and the meal. The treatment and accommodation towards customers was subpar and did not correspond to a final price of almost €70 for 2 people. It was probably the last visit to this restaurant. The toilets appeared to be clean and in order.

Well, the onion roast, fried carelessly and almost black... had a lot of glutamate in the sauce and unimaginatively thrown spaetzle next to it doesn't make it any better. The service, very young and friendly, inexperienced. I hope she finds something better to work with.

Huge brewery inn between Münster and town hall. Very nicely furnished - successful mix of modern and rustic. The blonde and the Swabian plate are absolutely world class, I have rarely eaten and drunk so well! The portion sizes are perfect, the prices are just about average, the service is good, but sometimes a bit impersonal due to the size of the place. All in all, a well-rounded experience and highly recommended! 😎👍🏻

Three of us had dinner here last night. Reservation worked great, but my husband only had a stool without a backrest... the order was taken quickly and nicely. Then the drinks came and the young lady threw the beer mats over the table, which we then picked up from the floor. Eating was quick, but serving was similar. My husband's mushroom sauce spilled over and then ran over the small tray onto the table, no apology, not even when we pointed it out to the server. The same thing happened with my side salad, which was then on the tray outside the bowl…. We have never been served so disrespectfully or unlovingly. Price performance not ok 👎🏻 we won't come back because it was a no go for us... we also told that to the nice older man from Geislingen who cashed in. Yes, I think it's difficult to get staff, but the job should be done in such a way that the customers are satisfied, because in the evening they want their money and go home satisfied...

A great restaurant with delicious food and a cozy atmosphere! I had a schnitzel with fries, and it was just perfect: the schnitzel was breaded golden brown, wonderfully juicy and seasoned just right. After visiting Legolands, we headed for Ulm. ...It's a good thing we had already made a reservation at Barfüsser for lunch, otherwise we definitely wouldn't have been able to get a seat. Great ambience, waitresses nice and really on the ball. We didn't have to wait long for the food, everything was well organized. We ate cheese spaetzle and roast pork in beer sauce. Absolutely delicious, I would order again at any time. But it's not quite enough for 5 stars. But the absolute blast was the black beer: chocolaty, malty, velvety... Brilliant, there's definitely still an order home. 👍👍👍💯

Waren hier gestern abend zu dritt zum Essen. Reservierung hat super geklappt, allerdings hatte mein Mann nur einen Hocker ohne Lehne… die Bestellung wurde schnell und nett aufgenommen. Dann kamen die Getränke und die junge Dame schleuderte die Bierdeckel über den Tisch, die wie dann vom Boden aufgehoben haben. Essen ging schnell, doch das Servieren lief ähnlich ab. Meinem Mann seine Pilzsosse schwappte über und lief dann über das kleine Tablett auf den Tisch, keine Entschuldigung, auch nicht als wir die Serviererin darauf aufmerksam machten . Das gleiche Spiel bei meinem Beilagensalat, der dann auf dem tablett ausserhalb der Schüssel war…. So respektlos bzw lieblos sind wir noch nie bedient worden. Preis Leistung nicht ok 👎🏻 werden nicht wieder kommen, denn für uns war das no go… haben das dem netten älteren Mann aus Geislingen ,der abkassiert hat , auch gesagt. Ja ich denke es ist schwierig Personal zu bekommen, allerdings sollte der Job so gemacht werden, dass die Kunden zufrieden sind, denn am Abend wollen die ja auch ihr Geld haben und zufrieden nach Hause gehen …

Ging alles sehr schnell. Super Plätze gehabt, um mit einem Geschäftspartner sich unterhalten zu können. Gerne wieder.

The interior design is unbeatable, as is the ambience and the friendly staff. Unfortunately, the quality of the food has recently decreased or it was the wrong day. My schnitzel tasted like I was licking a pig, my wife's Maultaschen were only so-so and the sauce for my son's spaetzle tasted more like wine than cream. Very unfortunate 😔

Schnitzel war sehr dünn und trotzdem innen roh, Pommes dazu waren lauwarm, Essen wurde reklamiert, bekamen auch ein zweites Schnitzel mit Pommes, die dann frisch und heiß waren, Kässpätzle waren gefühlt ohne Käse, was heißt, viel zu wenig Käse drin. 16,90€ für mit Salat 🙈, mein Flammkuchen war ok Fazit: Preis Leistung passt nicht Service war in Ordnung

Sehr freundliche Bedienungen.Das Essen war sehr lecker und das alkoholfreie Bier hat auch sehr gut geschmeckt.Schönes und modernes Ambiente. Ich hatte ein Schnitzel Wiener Art, welches sehr gut und fluffig in Butter gebacken war mit lauwarmen Kartoffelsalat der geschmacklich sehr gut war und meine Begleitung Hähnchenbrust gegrillt mit Gemüse und Spätzle und es war auch alles sehr schmackhaft.Wir können es mit gutem Gewissen weiterempfehlen. Preis Leistungsverhältnis ist auch völlig in Ordnung. Wir kommen gerne wieder wenn wir mal wieder in Ulm sind.

Had burgers, schnitzel with fries and cheese spaetzle with a side salad. Everything was beautifully prepared (as we all know, the eye eats too 😀). The taste of the burger and cheese spaetzle was “okay”. The schnitzel and the side salad of the cheese spaetzle were “extremely tasty”. But we would have expected a little “more” for the prices. The service was quick and friendly - nothing to complain about.

Wir sind hier nun schön öfters eingekehrt. Diesmal hatten wir das Hirschgulasch von der Winterkarte. Es war sehr lecker - wie immer. Die Reservierung ging noch sehr kurzfristig- 1/2 h vor der gewünschten Uhrzeit und das Personal war sehr freundlich und nett. Schneller Service und kein einziger Grund zur Klage. Auch die Toiletten sind immer sauber. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Excellent inn-craft brewery (the best in Ulm!) exquisite culinary specialties, excellent beers, fast service and very kind waiters (they speak English, which is not exactly common in German places) I recommend it for any tourist who wants to try local specialties!

Essen gut, Service gut und sehr nette Bedienung - jederzeit wieder.

Nach vielen Besuchen in der Vergangenheit wo wir immer sehr zufrieden waren erlebten wir an diesem Tag zumindest bei einem Gast eine Enttäuschung. Wir waren 5 Personen, wovon 4 zufrieden waren. Bei meinem Sohn musste der bestellte Burger 2x zurückgenommen werden. Zuerst war er zu kalt! Beim 2. waren Zwiebeln drauf, obwohl diese abbestellt waren und der Bacon war fast noch roh. Laut Servicekraft (Maximilian) die sich immer auch in der Küche bemühte bekam selbst der von dort „dumme“ Antworten! Diesen Zustand sollte man doch mit dem Küchenpersonal besprechen und schnellstens abstellen.

Ambiente und Service angenehm und gut. Leider waren die Knödel vom Schweinebraten und der Gans nicht gut.

I went to this restaurant for dinner yesterday, so I waited at the door and maybe someone would tell me if there was a table. But after waiting for 5 minutes, no waiter came and even walked past me without paying attention to me. Five minutes later two Germans came in and the waiter immediately came over with a smile. If this isn't racism, what is? (I'm Asian) Or does the waiter have poor eyesight?

Heute hatte ich für meine Familie einen Tisch reserviert, abgesehen davon, dass Es Silvester Abend ist, hat mein Mann Geburtstag. Das Ambiente ist sehr stilvoll, gemütlich und lädt zum verweilen ein. Das Personalaufgebot sehr gut aufgestellt. Doch schon beim Eingang wurden wir wenig herzlich empfangen, kein Hallo, kein Herzlich Willkommen. Namen gesagt und dann plump: der erste Tisch da vorn. Nun gut. Dieser Tisch, sorry, das geht gar nicht. Dieser ist genau gegenüber der Theke. Grundsätzlich kein k.o. Kriterium, aber es war genau beim Ein/Ausgang der Theke. Geschirr wird dort ein-und ausgeräumt. Die Mitarbeiter machen dort stetige Gruppenansammlungen zwecks Übergabe, Kasse und Treffen privater Natur und verspeisen mitgebrachten Essens(Kuchen,Börek?) Es war einfach nur laut, laut und man wird über sehen. Irgendwann war die Bestellaufnahme, auch hier nicht ein Hallo oder oder... Essen gewählt und vorfreudig erwartet. Haxe und Schwabenteller. Geschmacklich gut und nett angerichtet. Auch hier gibt es ein aber. Meine spätzle habe ich teils über gelassen, da meine Beilage von Soße und Gemüse Mengenmäßig nicht dazu passte. Die Haxe muss vorbereitet sein, ja, aber bitte nicht trocken. Dazu Semmelknödel und ein Hauc von Soße. Keine andere Beilage. Wirklich Schade. Preis Leistung 👎. Die Getränke... Selbstgemachter Eistee mit Himbeeren, Hm lecker... aber... Kleiner Strohhalm, wo die Stücke der Himbeeren stecken bleiben. Ich habe gekämpft und irgendwann gewonnen💪. Teller abräumen hat gedauert und ohne Frage...darf es noch etwas sein? Ehrlich so unaufmerksames Serviceteam habe ich schon lange nicht mehr erlebt. Die Frage nach weiteren Wünschen trotz leerem Tisch und leeren Gläsern blieb aus. Die Chance auf Nachtisch, nicht mehr mit uns. Kein Trinkgeld sorry und am liebsten hätte ich noch gefragt, ob ich die Rechnung abrunden darf. Hab es sein lassen. Hoffe für alle es kommt nicht so häufig vor, ansonsten sollte dieser Text der Team und Konzept Reflexion dienen. Viel Erfolg

Es ist für uns Gäste bedauerlich, dass es an einem Wochentag mittags keine Flammkuchen gibt. Ansonsten alles bestens.

The restaurant itself is beautifully presented and offers a nice, classic atmosphere. However, none of the three of us particularly liked the food, the Swabian plate was a little better than okay but very, very dry with only a little sauce, as was the pork knuckle. The drinks were good and very tasty. The service was absolutely inattentive, we waited forever to order, we weren't asked for dessert and for over 25 minutes you couldn't signal to anyone that you wanted to pay (after the table had already been cleared). Our table was also incredibly poorly placed, opposite the bar, it's not my fault here, it's that the employees gathered not even 50cm from our table and were busy with private conversations at an unbelievable volume, children of the employees were constantly carried around in their arms, which caused a lot of unrest spread. Since the impression of the main course wasn't impressive and we wanted to give the kitchen another chance, the plan was to order a dessert, but that never happened because we were practically ignored. Conclusion: An unpleasant meal.

Das Ambiente ist sehr schön, das Personal sehr freundlich, das einzige von Nachteil ist die Geräuschkulisse. Es ist im Lokal sehr laut. Trotzdem kann man das Restaurant gerne weiterempfehlen.

Wahren heute dort beim Essen und muss echt sagen das, das Essen nicht toll war. Die Pommes hatten kein Geschmack noch nicht einmal knusprig und das Fleisch hat auch nicht überzeugt. Es wahr schon viel besser das Essen aber hat schwer nachgelassen. Dann macht man die Klima an wo ich mich frage für was ?? Wir haben kein Sommer. Und der Preis überzogen ohne Ende für das Essen ist es nicht Wert.

I ordered a beer flight and the schnitzel. Cooked with butter and hanging off the plate. Best schnitzel i’ve had in Ulm. My husband had the burger and thought it was good. My mama had mushroom gravy over Spätzle. MMM. I would definitely eat here next time we are in Ulm!!!

A great home brewery, it's alive and kicking. It's full, very cozy, nice staff who take care of you straight away and the food tastes delicious. I liked the atmosphere best and of course the black beer 🍻 Very happy again!

We have been here many times and we always enjoyed and enjoyed it very much. Today, however, the food was terrible. The sauce for the schnitzel only tasted like artificial garlic and caraway, the spaetzle was completely soggy. I understand that there is a lot going on just before Christmas, the staff wasn't as great as usual, but the quality of the food shouldn't suffer as a result. I'm still really sick and unfortunately we won't be going here anymore. Too bad!

I think everyone in Ulm knows the Barfüßer and for good reason. Plain food, normal prices and very good ambience. I'm deducting one star because the food is very fresh but already prepared. When I wanted a naked turkey schnitzel as a Viennese-style schnitzel, I was told that that wasn't possible.

Beautiful restaurant that fully lives up to its name as a brewery in terms of its furnishings and ambience. The food selection ranges from home-style regional specialties to burgers, tarte flambée and bowls. We tried the regional specialties of pork knuckle, roast pork, dumplings & mushrooms and onion roast roast. We were all very happy with the food. The portions were generous so everyone was full. And most importantly, everything tasted great. Some of us also enjoyed a light house beer. Which everyone liked. The service staff were courteous, hard-working and committed. We would be happy to come back and recommend it to others.

The “home-brewed” beer (if that’s really the case) tastes very good!

Very tasty pork knuckle with potato salad. Wheat a little too cold but also very good. Service was very friendly and the food came quickly. I would definitely recommend making a reservation as it gets very busy during peak times.

Das Essen war sehr lecker, preislich nicht gerade günstig, aber Portionen waren sehr groß. Wäre vielleicht ein Anreiz, etwas bei Portion sparen, dann könnte der Preis leicht runter. Personal war sehr freundlich, alles war gut, ausser das bei 5 Personen und 5 sehr großen Tellern der Tisch sehr eng wurde... evtl könnte das Personal da das große Holz Gestell mit Besteck wegräumen. Wir kommen aber gerne wieder.
