A colleague at the bar, despite politely asking if we could use the restroom, disparagingly said that we weren't in the "public restroom." Nice guy.

It is a great place with an extraordinary chef from Mexico, the food is delicious and savory. The wine list is great, a y little amount if you ask for a glass.

The food was amazing. Let me start with this. We shared three plates plus a desert ( 2 ppl) and felt well fed. It had exciting textures, it was seasonal and fresh. Our waitress was kind and there for us the whole night. The only thing I could critique were the prices of the wine and some of the food. It was above the regular Berlin restaurant prices. However I would pay for it again just see what they come up with the new menu for the summer.

I went to this corner restaurant in Berlin by recommendation. And it did not disappoint the amount of drinks, wine nonalcoholic any kind of drink that you can think of. They probably will make it for you with the extensive offer that they have. The hostess was amazing. She was kind and gracious to me. I appreciated the fact that they take your coat and put it somewhere so it’s not touching the floor or hanging behind your back. The food was amazing. I chose the fluta, i’m probably misspelling it or saying it wrong, but I found it a little too salty for me and I didn’t really enjoy it. The cauliflower though took it home for me by far the best cauliflower I’ve ever had anywhere in the world and it is a must try. I had a little accident with the cauliflower and they were so kind to me to help me clean it up, but that food was by far, one of the best vegetarian meal I’ve had. I also like their wine selection, and the red wine that was suggested to me I don’t remember the name was excellent . Overall, I would definitely return just for the cauliflower .

Too expensive for what it was. An extremely small starter with potato, carrot, egg shouldn’t be in that price level (17€). The flavors of this dish also just blended completely together, made it taste like creamy mashed potatoes with a bit of carrot, which isn’t a bad taste, but it is a bit of a joke when they try to style it in a fine dining way. And the “main” dish with a piece of fried cauliflower and some peanuts for 20€? Cheap ingredients for a small 20€ dish. I would maybe drink a glass of wine here but never eat again.

Had a fun evening by myself here. The service and wine suggestions were superb, especially if you’re curious and happy to try something new. The food I had, which were chicken and cauliflower, was more of a comfort food kinda situation, but with a twist. Paired really well with the funky wines I had. I‘d recommend going here for great service, interesting wines and a lovely atmosphere. I’ll definitely come back for more.

I arrived by way of a late invitation from a small party, unaware that it was a restaurant (understandably, given the name). When I arrived, the staff were incredibly accommodating, made sure there was room for everyone, and in general, made what can be an awkward and annoying situation (and quite honestly, rude and ignorant on my part) completely comfortable. The service was fantastic, the staff were all incredibly knowledgable, gave us the low down on the food, helped us pair wines without compromising on our personal preferences, were friendly, cool without being snobby and pretentious. As for the food....Berlin is not a foody city. I expect very little, and generally I get what I expect. The offerings here however, were incredible. Not just the best I've had in Berlin (a low bar), but probably close to the best I've had in London, or Dublin. These guys are professionals and they know what they're doing. Our last beer was a little late, but I'm not even knocking them a star for that. Big love for the real deal on a street full of fakers and posers.

Typically Berlin: hipster 2.0, i.e. expensive prices for little service, neither in terms of taste nor variety nor good service. but the furnishings are tasteful. Recommended for an espresso if you have the time and nerves.

I honestly have nothing to criticize: service was quick, friendly and attentive and the food was great. The food is definitely on the pricy side and portions are not too big, so I guess value for money is the ink thing I’d criticize. But the food and especially the cauliflower was amazing!

We waited hours for our dishes. The food was overly salty, the portions were tiny and the price was super expensive. Then we also charged €8 for 2 bottles of tap water without telling us about it beforehand. Service was a disaster, long and impersonal. In the end €76 for two people and the feeling of not having anything to eat. Just don't go there!

Lovely place, super nice sommelier, we loved the wines. Cannot say the same about food! We were waiting quite a long time for our forgotten food… The rhubarb dessert was nice though! One time experience, but definitely wouldn’t want to come back again.

A sophisticated place with an exceptional menu. The staff is incredibly kind and knowledgeable. Maybe not a place for a casual dinner as the price of a full meal is above average - but it is defiitely the right place for a special ocasion.

This cosy corner bar recently elevated their concept into proper fine dining. We reserved a table for 8 and chose the five course menu which was just incredibly refined and delicious. The staff is extremely attentive and knowledgeable and created an attentive but down to earth atmosphere. Highly recommend the house cocktail Oaxaca Holiday (pictured) as well as having a conversation with the staff about their wine menu. Can’t wait to have another special evening here!

This place used to have a fantastic menu and extraordinary dishes. Since the chef changed, food looks still good but tastes only dull. Wine selection and atmosphere is still fine. Service is nothing more than mediocre.

Went here last week for dinner with a friend and had an amazing evening! Restaurant looks very cozy with nice music and atmosphere on a weekend night. The menu offers Mexican dishes with lots of vegetarian options and a tasting menu. The food we ordered (sope, mushrooms, cima di rapa, duck mole) were all very delicious. Service was very friendly and staff seems very knowledgeable about natural wines. I was a little intimidated by the wine list, but I got great advice from the staff. Would definitely recommend!

You don't get much value for your money. The place tried to look fancy but failed in the little details, and the toilet smell was too strong and filled the whole place The service was great, and most of the dishes were good, but the wine is too expensive, and there's no flexibility in prices.

I got recommended this place by a friend that lives in Berlin, I popped in by myself without a reservation on one of my visit to Berlin, it was Saturday evening and around 9:45pm, I was told they had no seats, fair enough, I understood as I could tell the place was full. Came back the following evening (Sunday), as I really wanted to try It out. This time it was at 6:30pm (they opened at 6pm), the place had 2 tables sitting, I was greeted by a young lady telling me they were fully booked, I said that I just wanted a drink and the bar (6 seats all empty) would have been perfect, she said they were “not allowed to sit anyone at the bar as they are short on staff and couldn’t keep up with the service”. I was stunned by the claims, especially being partner in 2 very busy establishments in London, I know full well you don’t just turn customers away like that, admitting you have empty sits that you purposely are not willing to use, it’s a capital sin in our business. Not sure who’s curating the strategy at this place, but that to me looks like the best way to shoot yourself in the foot. Good news is 3 minutes down the road there is this place Mami’s Food, who were also fully booked, but for real and with no bar, that were kind enough to suggest I could sit down to a table if I was was willing to free it by 8pm which was when the next reservation was arriving. Now that’s how you do business! Entitled people never made a good choice in hospitality, stay clear.

Very friendly staff. Food is extremely delicious and an interesting mix (Mexican chef cooking local and in-season ingredients). The sauces especially are amazing. Thanks for a good time, will come back! Also: try the red wine

This place has a sharing concept where each savoury dish is focused on one base ingredient. We had carrot, pointed cabbage and a raspberry and yoghurt dessert. My friend had wine and I had a kombucha. The food was good, with clear and fresh flavours. The dessert was excellent, and showed a playful use of textures, temperatures and flavours. The kombucha was disappointing, and best described as a sweet lemonade. They were out of non-alcoholic beer, which was what I originally wanted. The service is friendly and attentive. In terms of food and service, I would give Bar normal a 4 or even a 5. However, the acoustics are absolutely terrible. My friend and I could hardly hear each other. The poor acoustics could easily be remedied, which would benefit guests as well as the restaurant workers.

AMAZING FOOD WITH GREAT AMBIENCE I have visited Bar Normal a few times in the past and the food was good but now it is just marvelous. Every dish is a story despite of the simplicty in the menu. I guess is the abstract touch that the place wants to create. It is a must place to go in Berlin. Try as many dishes as possible. Make sure to book a table in advance and just enjoy!

Food was okay but overpriced with the dish size more relevant for a newborn mouse than a human. Vegetarian option, or lack thereof, was extremely limited and uninspired. Good if you want some nice wine and insta pics with the girlies, bad if you’re hungry and on a budget.

I went back recently after the new head chef took over the kitchen, and wow! I was so blown away by the food. Everything was perfectly seasoned and delicious. There is also a fantastic selection of wine (kudos to the somm!) and everyone working there was absolutely lovely. It’s a great relaxed cosy spot in Pberg.

Located on a lively corner in Berlin, Bar Normal offers a high-quality dining experience. Its ambiance is low-key but inviting, perfect for an end-of-summer evenening, but it's truly the menu that shines. I've been twice in the last month and the menu change was a nice surprise. The mexican flair to it was genuinely pleasant. The tomato dish provided a refreshing contrast. The empanadas were incredibly aromatic, packed with flavor. The mole was exceptional. The aubergine, again was special: coffee-glazed, it struck the right balance between crunchy exterior with the peanuts, and a soft interior. Maybe a bit "thick" due to the deep frying, the glaze and the peanuts, but still, very enjoyable. The overall wine selection at Bar Normal is great, but the Italian wine we had, with its unique mineral and salty undertones, was an exceptional choice. Lastly, the service is impeccable. Thanks Alex for the final grappa treat, and all the rest of the staff. You're doing a great job. It is not cheap, of course. But a restaurant of this caliber should not be. For those seeking a standout meal in Berlin, Bar Normal is a must-visit.

One of the best casual places to eat in the Berlin. Get here now (particularly with the new menu) before it becomes the hot new thing in Berlin again. It’s a shame to see low reviews from others, because I can’t see where they come from. Bar Normal is one of the great restaurants in the city. One can have total faith in the menu; it has consistently fantastic dishes, a great wine selection, and the ambience of the space is perfect for a special evening. The prices are very reasonable for the fantastic quality of the food, and I’ve certainly spent more at worse restaurants that are highly rated. I have faith I can always come to Bar Normal and leave impressed, no matter what.

Ne lieber nicht. Das Essen teuer, unterdurchschnittlich und nicht für Vegetarier geeignet. Die Auswahl ging gefühlt ins Negative. Und wie kann man für Mandeln in irgendeinem Öl so viel Geld verlangen ? Immerhin sparen sie nicht an Alkohol. Die Bedienung hat einem konstant das Gefühl gegeben, man würde zu wenig trinken. Wer kommt denn zig mal, wenn die Gläser noch voll sind ? Der Späti um die Ecke war geiler, der hat sogar noch Stühle rausgebracht.

This is a very well-positioned wine bar/casual fine dining spot. The service is great and so is the wine selection. The food, given the prices, is a little bit underwhelming. I think some more innovation is necessary with so much competition just around the corner.

Food was not incredible given the price, also need to order a lot to be full. Food is a little too plain, needs more identity and punch. Waiters are very attentive, (maybe a little too much…) which makes you feel they want you to spend more and/or leave table for the next guests. Atmosphere was nice enough. If they change the menu and don’t bother you as much it could be a fantastic place.

Ich hasse es, wenn ich im Restaurant/Bar beim Essen gehetzt werde. Ich gehe doch mit Freunden essen, um zu entspannen, etwas zu essen und zu trinken und möchte dabei unauffällig bedient werden. Hier hat man das Gefühl, dass man teuer und viel bestellen soll, aber auch ganz schnell wieder verschwinden. Ständig kommt jemand an den Tisch und fragt, ob er abräumen kann oder ob man noch etwas bestellen will, obwohl der Tisch noch voll steht. Und ob man nicht Bestellungen zusammenfassen könnte, da die Küche alles immer frisch machen muss, und so Zeit gespart wird. Ähm nein. Ich möchte bestellen, wann ich will und was ich will. Die Bedienung, die wir heute hatten, war unfreundlich und hat darauf bestanden, dass man Englisch versteht, nur um uns dann zu sagen, dass er Deutsch schon versteht, aber wir dennoch in Englisch bestellen sollen. Ständig steht jemand am Tisch, wenn ich mit meinen Gästen in Ruhe essen und trinken möchte. Die Speisen waren schon besser, haben in Qualität nachgelassen, aber nicht am Preis. Kalte Bohnen mit Parmesan so zu verkaufen, zu diesem Preis ist schon eine Ansage. Wir waren bei unserem ersten Besuch begeistert, aber davon ist nichts übriggeblieben. Essen mau, Bedienung aufdringlich und wie in einer Drückerkolonne, einzig das Bier hat gut geschmeckt. Wenn man Gäste nur rasieren will, rächt sich das, vor allem in Berlin, schnell. Wir kommen nicht wieder. Das Geld gebe ich dann lieber woanders aus. Schade.

It could be better with the Martinis. I ordered a very dry one and it had a lot of vermouth (one can see by the colour if they made it right, yellow is never very dry). My friend ordered a dirty one and it had way too much olive brine.

Wir haben uns von unserem Besuch leider mehr erhofft. Der Service war zwar sehr freundlich und aufmerksam, das Essen für den Preis aber leider sehr fad und eher durchschnittlich. Man merkt, was die Bar versucht zu sein, leider ist das aber nicht gelungen. Vielleicht sollte man bei der Qualität die Preise nochmal überdenken. Die Getränke waren gut. Das Ambiente scheint auf den ersten Blick schön und stilvoll, ist aber dann doch leider sehr ungemütlich und sehr laut. Wir werden nicht mehr wiederkommen.

A bit disappointed by the food, it was not outstanding to be honest…Maybe I did not ordered the right food but when I came last year I had a better experience food wise. We had the tomato pie, the stuffed squid, asparagus, the beans. The bread and butter is amazing tho (but that’s not enough) The glasses of wine that were served were way too little (for the price also) … just my opinion. Beside that, the service was great, really nice waiters and waitresses.

War gestern Abend mit Freunden dort. Allein ich habe für 4 Tapas Brot und zwei Wein 75€ da gelassen. Zugegeben sind die Tapas ganz lecker aber man fühlt sich dennoch irgendwie verarscht. Die Preise sind VIEL zu hoch und die Ecke ist wirklich höllisch laut. Mich hat es am Ende etwas gereut weil man für das Geld in einem gleich teuren Restaurant wesentlich besser gegessen, ruhiger gesessen und satt geworden wäre. Für mich ein typischer Laden für verwöhntes Prenzlauer Berg Publikum - alles von lokalen Herstellern und Bio BLA BLA. Ich wünsche weiterhin viel Erfolg.

The service at Bar Normal is absolutely exceptional and they make you feel really cared for in this homey yet chic environment that they've created.

I am super super disappointed. They charged me 100 € for not showing up. In general I support this decision - BUT NOT if it is IMPOSSIBLE to cancel the reservation on time. No person ever answered their phone (I called min 15 times), I left a voicemail, I send a message via iMessage, I sent a DM on insta - I even had friends calling to try cancel the reservation. No reaction. This is a scam to me and am not sure this should be supported in the long run!!!

Kein Interesse an Stammgästen? Es hätte schön werden können. Ich wohne in der direkten Nachbarschaft. Ich hätte Stammkundin werden können. Optisch spricht mich alles an und ich weiß um die Berliner Ruppigkeit. Aber diese Arroganz, die mir hier begegnet ist, hat mir den Appettit auf die (mittelmäßigen) Speisen und Getränke verdorben. Gut geht anders.

subpar food & very rushed dining experience. food order seemed random - the main dish arrived before we received all our appetizers. table was very crowded at times - dishes arrived too fast, dishes did not compliment each other. kitchen seemed to be overwhelmed. experience is not worth the price tag. Again, not only was the experience disappointing - even if you were to ignore all the flaws mentioned the food was mediocre at best. At no point did i think that the dishes were better than the the parts they were composed of. The food was unispriring, boring & overpriced.

Was slightly worried due to some reviews on here but we (group of 4) had an overall very nice dinner experience - food was delicious, attentive and friendly service, amazing wine and great atmosphere. Will be back for sure!

Wife and I thought wine was amazing, food nice but service very slow. 2 hour time slot but our last dish hadn’t arrived 15 minutes before we were reminded to leave. Cancelled U Bahn meant we were 15 mins late (they don’t have a phone number to let them know) so they tried to charge us €100; be careful!

The sourdough bread and catfish scotch egg were absolutely incredible.

Mangiare molto ma molto buono. Da provare (quando è il loro periodo) gli asparagi con una salsa magnifica e anche le quaglie sono ottime. Vini lieviti indigeni ( vini naturali) al bicchiere e bottiglie dalla loro bellissima carta. Personale competente per consigliare gli abbinamenti e molto molto gentile. Grazie e a presto

Das (vegetarische) Essen war lecker! Hört sich ein wenig ausgefallener an als es am Ende wirklich ist, aber besticht durch Schlichtheit und durch die qualitativ hochwertigen Produkte. Dennoch ist das Essen preislich nicht angemessen, die Portionen sind auch sehr klein. Die Gerichte sind zum Teilen gedacht, was ich an sich mag, aber es gibt leider nicht viel auf dem Teller, das man dann auch teilen kann (aufgrund der Menge). Man muss für das Essen deshalb mit ca. 50 Euro pro Person rechnen. In der Preisklasse gibt es meiner Meinung nach bessere Restaurants. Der Naturwein hat uns aber gut gefallen, bekommt man so nicht überall! Die atmosphäre ist auch entspannt und ungezwungen, die KellnerInnen sehr nett und aufmerksam, wir haben uns auf jeden Fall wohl gefühlt. Trotzdem weiß ich nicht, ob ich nochmal kommen würde.

I'll give 3 stars instead of 2 because I thought the atmosphere and overall ambiance of the place is really nice and cozy. The place has so much untapped potential and, unfortunately, is one of those restaurants which charge you much more than what it truly deserves. We really wanted to try the place after several positive reviews, but: half of the menu was unavailable even though it's not even a huge selection. After we ordered and started to eat the appetizers, we were notified about a dish we ordered that was not available anymore. The service was not at all what you'd expect from these gastrobars in Berlin. The cucumber & broccoli salad contains jalapeños, which was not mentioned on the menu, but no waiter bothered to tell us about it (what if someone had an allergy?). It's either that the food is below average, or we visited the restaurant when the menu wasn't great (as they change it frequently with seasonal products). Overall I think the restaurant is average, you should definitely not visit if you are on an empty stomach as the plates are quite small and you won't feel filled paying less than €40-50 per person. I would give it another chance next time as I truly believe my experience is not representative of what the restaurant usually offers.

Leider unterdurchschnittliches Erlebnis. Service bemüht, aber total chaotisch. Essen relativ fad und unterdurchschnittlich (Fish & Chips).

Hübscher Laden mit leckeren Gerichten. Das erstmal vorweg. Leider ein noch sehr ungeübtes Personal und eine für diese Hipster-Läden typische, vor sich hergetragene Dilettanz. Zum 8€ Glas Wein nicht einmal etwas sagen können und beim 9€ Glas den mostigen Rest der Flasche einfüllen womit dieses bei unter 0,1 liegt - bei den Wartezeiten für ein neues Glas wirklich traurig. Etwas wenig Aufmerksamkeit, dafür viele fragende Gesichter in der Runde, nur nicht ganz so verdattert wie meines, als die Eisnachspeise komplett geschmolzen kam und die Bedienung auf Nachfrage nur sagen konnte: "Äh, ja, ich glaube das soll so sein."

We had a 20 minute wait for our table but there was really nothing the staff could do about it as the guests from the service before just lingered and lingered (and lingered). We had a splendid evening once we were seated. Every dish was beautifully prepared, well-balanced and thoughtfully created—-basically quite spectacular in their simplicity. Unfortunately our guests were not lovers of natural wines so they struggled with the choice for beverages but we (almost) only drink natural wines so the wine list was perfect for us:) Our servers were attentive, polite (unfazed when our lady guest said Natural wine is vinegar), cheerful and left no questions unanswered. All in all a beautiful evening. Thank you!

Völlig indiskutabel. Essen viel zu teuer und unspektakulär, Weinliste fängt entspannt bei 40.- € an, ungemütliche Kneipenatmosphäre zu fine dining Preisen. No go. Service nett bis auf den nervigen Restaurantleiter.

The food was okay and service was very attentive but the portion are very small and overpriced. We had an arroz caldoso and it was fine but nothing over the top, as a Spaniard that has eaten many times arroz caldoso I wouldn’t recommend and less for 27 eur. I don’t regret going as it wasn’t bad but I wouldn’t go again and neither recommend it.

Food and atmosphere are very nice, unfortunately they are blurred by one of the most unfriendly staff I have ever found in Berlin.

Amazing food, service also great

I love this place! Food is great and menu keeps changing providing the possibility to try new things in every visit. The staff is really nice and the vibe is really cool.

Bar Normal gives Prenzlauer berg some NK/Xberg vibe. The location is nicely designed, staff was surprisingly friendly (in Berlin you expect the opposite) and the food really nailed it 🤩 My only comment is that the menu is a bit pricey and you have 2-hrs *sharp* before next table arrives, means you pay relatively high, and wont have the time to calmly digest with espresso/desert 🥱 (Took a bit of time for main course, take it mind if you want to enjoy the full range)

Dishes are ok, but some are just a bland mix of random ingredients. Food doesn’t justify the prices.
