Honestly I don’t know anything about westafrican cuisine, so I can’t judge the authenticity, but in my humble opinion this places food tastes amazing. I went for vegan options and was blown away way. So so good. I got food from there many times since then. Big recommendation. <3

The vegan options are not worth it. The peanut dish comes with three lonely slices of sweet potatoes and the spinach rice with four tiny pieces of plantain… we were left hungry. For 10€ a take out dish we felt it was not enough quality nor quantity.

We were completely thrilled with the food. We tried all the dishes with the mixed platter and ALL of them were actually really tasty! However, you should actually put on an extra sweater because the heating probably didn't work properly.

Super leuk tentje en heerlijk gegeten en vriendelijk personeel. Wij hadden een menu waar we van alles wat konden proeven, echt een aanrader als je niet zo bekend met met de keuken.

The restaurant is a bit hidden, but it's worth the journey...the service is great, people are very attentive...the food is absolutely delicious, well seasoned, it's very cozy and a warm atmosphere thanks to dark wood and colors... .. if you're staying for a long time, take one of the great cushions under your bottom, because there is simple wooden furniture, which of course fits great, but doesn't flatter the bottom, but that's the only thing that could perhaps be improved by the owner: soft seat cushions with African Pattern.. Otherwise everything was really great...we'll be back, that's for sure...⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Delusione assoluta! Abbiamo scelto questo ristorante fidandoci delle recensioni lette e ci siamo sbagliati. Volevamo assaggiare qualche piatto originale ...detto fatto! Scegliamo due antipasti , un puff- puff e un platano fritto, buoni ( attenti a chi non piace la cipolla). Dopo abbiamo ordinato la Domada e la Plasos con la CARNE ( con la carne) ma sono arrivati tutti e due senza carne! Pazienza ci siamo detti, non è il caso di mandare i piatti indietro! La parte brutta è che ci hanno fatto pagare come se il piatto fosse con la carne . Senza parole!Mai più in questo locale

Ich bin immer wieder gerne hier. Diesmal hatte ich das Benachin mit dem würzig gebratenen Reis. Dazu gibt's Gemüse (u.a. sehr leckeren Senfkohl) und wahlweise Fleisch oder in der veganen Variante Kochbananen dazu. Ich hatte Letzteres, gute Wahl. Als Getränk hatte ich eine Tamarinden-Limo, spritzig-lecker, nicht zu süß und was Besonderes. Der Service war wie immer toll. Bis zum nächsten Mal.

A cozy, authentic African restaurant.

Wir als alte Africa Fans wollten die Nr. 1 von über 9000 Berliner Restaurants schon ausprobieren. Es liegt nicht gerade in einer Luxusgegend von Berlin und es ist sehr einfach aber mit Charme eingerichtet. Der Empfang von Ruby, der Kellnerin war sehr herzlich und sie hat uns gut beraten und bedient. Das Essen war hervorragend. Wir hatten 2 Vorspeisen, Manjuk Pommes und Puff Puff Bällchen, beides mit einer sehr schmackhaften Zwiebelsauce. Die Hauptspeise war eine Platte für 2 Personen mit weißem und dunklen Gewürzreis, Kochbananen uvm. Dazu noch 4 verschiedene Saucen. Alles ein Gedicht. Wir freuen uns schon auf die nächste Berlinreise mit einem Besuch in diesem Lokal.

Everything is amazing- the homemade drinks (especially the tamarind one) are so refreshing, the starters are great and the main plates are incredibly flavourful. I can’t recommend Bantabaa enough!

Leckeres Essen in großen Portionen. Mal was komplett neues. Hatten die Platte für 2 und man konnte alles mal probieren. Kann ich nur weiterempfehlen.

Best restaurant in Berlin. The food is from another planet, always excellent and prepared with great attention to detail. The restaurant has 6 main courses, all of which taste wonderful. The Benachin with Beef (Jollof Rice) is particularly exciting and can actually feed two people as a main course. This dish is simply a taste explosion. The dish Yassa, a mustard sauce with peppers and cabbage, is simply incredibly tasty and totally unique. Bantabaa is the only restaurant where I go several times a month. I could write a novel. In addition, the Baobab, Wonjo and Tamarind lemonades are simply incomparable! A taste experience without comparison. Since this restaurant was born from a project by people with refugee backgrounds, it is even nicer to come here because you are supporting an incomparable project.

Have lived in the neighborhood for several years and finally tried this restaurant - now we're wondering why we didn't go there sooner! We had the Yassa and the Superkanja, both with incredibly delicious plantains, plus the refreshing, not too sweet hibiscus iced tea. The service is really nice and the music is super relaxing. Go for it!

Locale molto carino situato in zona East Side Gallery. Cucina tipica africana con dei bei accostamenti tra verdure, riso e carne, con aggiunta di spezie che rendono i piatti molto molto interessanti. Menzione anche per il servizio, la cameriera è stata veramente gentile e alla mano, abbiamo apprezzato moltissimo. Locale veramente consigliato, eccellente!

It was my second time there and I was absolutely satisfied with the taste. The last time I ordered something to take away worth over €58, it included 3 of these dumplings. Unfortunately, when I got home I discovered that instead of 3, only 1 had been packed. even though the chef on site assured me that the order was complete. Given these prices, it was very annoying and annoying. That was at least €6, which I ended up paying too much PLUS a tip. Since there wasn't much going on, I understand it even less.

Underground service. We had waited over 90 minutes for our food and then received rice with three pieces of plantain and undefined sauce. My wife ordered okra and received spinach. I had ordered the whole fish and after about 45 minutes of asking if we had been forgotten, I was told that the whole fish was out. In the meantime, at least one table that ordered after us received the fish portion. We had to ask three times where the food was and were always put off. But no apology whatsoever. I have no problem waiting longer, even over an hour, for my food. But the food was just bad. And the employees made no attempt to defuse the situation. A pity.

An African restaurant that feels authentic and also has vegan options - I LOVE it! Unfortunately I'm not from Berlin otherwise I would definitely be here more often. The waiting time was a little longer but the food was totally worth it and I would come back at any time. I would particularly recommend the baobab lemonade - I could bathe in it and would love to have the recipe 🙈.

This is a restaurant I found by chance while walking. At first, I had no background knowledge about the menu, so I ordered a comprehensive plate for two people. I think this was the right choice. In fact, you can't tell just by reading the text, and even if there are pictures (there are no pictures on the menu), it is very difficult to guess the taste. To put it simply, it’s very delicious!! Aside from the sauce containing okra, the texture was a bit strange, and the remaining three sauces were all so delicious that I had a hard time deciding what to order the next time I came back. In addition, the chicken legs were crispy on the outside and very moist on the inside, so they were cooked very deliciously. The mackerel was delicious, but I definitely want to try other fish next time. There were still more things I wanted to try. There were a lot of unfamiliar but delicious-looking things in Vorspeise. This restaurant is such a pleasure to us.

I visited Bantabaa for the first time nearly a year ago. I remember loving the fresh taste of the food and the originality behind it. Back then, nothing was really set up inside as they were just starting. Now the atmosphere and decorations inside are lovely. They did a great job, and the food still tastes just as great. As the food is freshly prepared, I would advice to take some waiting time into consideration . Other tahn that the service is really friendly and welcoming.

How is it possible I’m finding this little gem only now! I loved everything from the friendliness when I booked through email, the cosy and warm environment, professional and kind staff, not to talk about the food of course. Small menu, but all is good. I had the mackerel benachin (excellent, it reminded me of Senegalese Thieboudienne) and plantains with onion sauce. My mum would have also loved to have benachin but only one portion was left. She ended up ordering the domoda with beef (basically Senegalese mafè), which was also delectable. Portions are okay, though I would have eaten a little bit more rice. Bissap as a drink was fantastic! 🌺 ✨ no alcohol served but you can BYOB and payment with card accepted. It was sooooo good and also very good value for money. Can’t wait to go back! Keep on the excellent work guys! One of my new favourites in Berlin hands down. ✌🏼

We were hesitant at first, but I'm glad we gave this place a chance. The food is absolutely delicious and served with genuine warmth. We tried the Damoda sweet potato and chicken leg, Superkanja, and the Hibiscus drink. Everything was superb. It's definitely worth visiting!
