Wir waren aus den Niederlanden in Essen und haben dieses Restaurant zufällig im Internet entdeckt. Es war eine wirklich gute Wahl! Das Personal war sehr freundlich und das Essen köstlich. Man kann dort auch traditionell auf dem Boden essen, und es gibt einen Gebetsraum. Absolut empfehlenswert!

Das beste Kabili Pulao in Essen, das man bekommen kann, bestelle ich immer, sowohl zu Hause als auch im Restaurant.

Das Kalb Fleisch schmeckt säuerlich und das war das schlimmste Döner das ich jemals gegessen habe ich und alle meine Freunde konnten unser Döner nicht aufessen außer die die mit Hähnchenfleich genommen haben da hat es geschmeckt aber warum war das gleich sauer ??

Update: Wir haben am 05.05.2026 zu unserem Hochzeitstag Essen nach Hause bestellt. 2x Safran Hähnchen, ich mit Afghanischen Reis und mein Mann mit weißem Reis. Ich habe hier bestellt weil ich bereits vor drei Jahren hier mit dem Essen gute Erfahrungen gemacht hatte. Leider wurden wir dieses Mal sehr enttäuscht und haben es absolut bereut, dass wir dort bestellt haben. Mein Essen roch etwas unangenehm. Aber ich habe es gegessen, weil wir nach der Arbeit echt Hunger hatten. Ich kam mit leichtem Aufstoßen und leichter Übelkeit davon. Mein Mann allerdings hat ununterbrochen heftig aufgestoßen, trotz Talcid und Bullrich Tabletten ließ es nicht nach mit Durchfall und richtiger Magenverstimmung. Heute morgen am 06.05.2026 ging es ihm richtig schlecht und nun jetzt um 15:35 Uhr hat er Fieber mit 38,8°, mein Mann musste sich krank melden. Mehr brauche ich dazu nicht sagen. Wir haben das Geld von 49€ aus dem Fenster geschmissen (unsere beiden Kinder hatten Pommes mit Nuggets, aber nicht aufgegessen) und unsere Gesundheit gefährdet. Man weiß nicht woran das gelegen hat aber eins möchte ich sagen, Hähnchenfleisch ist mitunter ein Fleisch das schnell Bakterien ansammelt und gefährlich sein kann. Zb bei falscher Lagerung erneutem erwärmen von bereits gebratenen oder gekochten Fleisch. Dann weiß man auch nicht wie sauber die Flächen sind wo es zubereitet wird, ob der Koch wirklich auf Hygiene achtet. Ich meine ich sehe sehr oft auf den Damentoiletten wie Frauen vom pinkeln kommen und sich nicht die Hände waschen. Selbst Frauen können unhygienisch sein. Es gibt so viele Menschen die darauf pfeifen. Als ein Verwandter bei McDonald's gearbeitet hat erzählte er auch, dass es Mitarbeiter gibt, die ihre Hand in der Hose haben am Hintern und dann die 🍔 zubereiten. Ich habe mit dieser Erfahrung nun alle Essen-Lieferdienst Accounts gelöscht und die Apps deinstalliert. Das war jetzt der letzte Tropfen der das Fass zum Überlaufen gebracht hat. Für so etwas zahle ich kein Geld mehr. Wenn ich essen gehe dann vor Ort und wo die Mitarbeiter auch gepflegt aussehen wo man vielleicht einigermaßen ein gutes Gewissen hat. Natürlich ist selbst kochen immernoch das Sicherste. Die folgende Bewertung habe ich im Jahr 2023 geschrieben damals hatte ich 5 Sterne gegeben. Ich war zum ersten Mal dort, da meine Tochter (7 Jahre alt) total Hunger auch Hähnchen hatte. Für sie habe ich die kleine Portion Hähnchenkoteletts und für mich Safrani Hähnchen bestellt. Wir bekamen aufs Haus als Vorspeise sehr leckeres Brot und Dips. Der scharfe Dip und die Tzatziki hat mir ganz besonders gut geschmeckt. Freundliche Bedienung, das Essen schmeckt sehr gut. Das Hähnchen war zart. Der Afghanische Reis ist besonders lecker.

Das Essen war sehr gut, die Servicekräfte aufmerksam und höflich. Uns wurde spontan ermöglicht, zu neunt draußen zu sitzen, dafür wurden extra die Tische umgeschoben. Besonders positiv aufgefallen ist, dass es einen seperatem Gebetsbereich für Männer und Frauen gibt. Gerne wieder

Wir waren zu zweit im Bamyan und wurden sehr positiv überrascht. Als Vorspeise hatten wir Mantu und Oshak, beides hat hervorragend geschmeckt. Oshak ist dabei die vegetarische Alternative zu Mantu und war mit Bärlauch gefüllt, was besonders aromatisch war. Auch die Hauptgerichte konnten überzeugen. Lediglich das Lamm war etwas zu lange gegrillt und dadurch ein wenig trocken. Der Service hingegen war sehr freundlich, aufmerksam und hat den Besuch angenehm abgerundet. Insgesamt ein empfehlenswertes Restaurant, das wir gerne wieder besuchen würden.

Kamm von einem anstrengenden tag und das essen gab mir die perfekte Energie und erholung. Zudem war der servic sehr nett und auch kompetent. Der laden ist etwas echt schönes mit einer sehr angenehmen stimmung und Atmosphäre. Ich würde auf jeden fall wieder kommen.

Ich habe auf TikTok eine Werbung von Sarah Kashmout gesehen. Ich kannte den Laden nicht gut, aber er hat mir sehr gut gefallen und ich hätte nicht erwartet, dass er so gut ist, obwohl ich früher oft daran vorbeigegangen bin.

Schlimmste Erfahrung überhaupt, ich werde diesen Ort nie wieder besuchen.

Heute das erste Mal gemeinsam mit meiner Frau da gewesen. Sehr freundlicher Service und das essen war fantastisch. Reis war viel zu viel 😉 auch die Getränke und der Nachtisch waren sehr lecker. Wenn wir wieder in der Nähe sind kommen wir gerne wieder

Ich habe dieses Restaurant besucht und leider keine gute Erfahrung gemacht. Der Service war aus meiner Sicht sehr unfreundlich. Ein Teller wurde ohne Kommentar recht unsanft auf den Tisch gestellt und unser Tisch wurde trotz Nachfrage nicht gereinigt. Außerdem war es nicht möglich, mit einer verantwortlichen Person zu sprechen. Auf Nachfrage wurde uns mehrfach gesagt, dass keine zuständige Person verfügbar sei. Besonders enttäuschend war, dass Gäste, die nach uns bestellt hatten, ihr Essen deutlich früher erhalten haben. Als ich freundlich nachgefragt habe, wurde sehr unhöflich reagiert. Nachdem auch nach längerer Wartezeit keine Lösung angeboten wurde, habe ich mein Essen schließlich storniert. Die bereits servierten Beilagen habe ich bezahlt und das Restaurant ohne Hauptgericht verlassen. Ich persönlich empfand den Umgang mit Gästen als nicht angemessen und kann das Restaurant daher aktuell nicht weiterempfehlen.

Eines der besten Restaurants in Deutschland. Ich empfehle Ihnen, einen Besuch in der Stadt Essen zu besuchen und Bamyan Kabab.

Ein sehr leckerer Laden, wir gehen seit Jahren dorthin. Es kommt zwar auf den Tag an, manche Tage sind besser als andere, aber insgesamt ist das Essen sehr lecker und der Laden ist traditionell und gut organisiert.

Ich hatte ein wunderbares Erlebnis in diesem afghanischen Restaurant. Das Essen war sehr schmackhaft, wunderschön angerichtet und wurde mit viel Liebe und nach traditionellen Rezepten zubereitet. Die Kebabs waren zart, der Reis perfekt gewürzt und die Portionen großzügig. Die Atmosphäre war warm und einladend, und das Personal aufmerksam und freundlich. Ein großartiger Ort, um authentische afghanische Küche zu genießen – ich komme gerne wieder und kann ihn wärmstens empfehlen.

Stilvolles Interieur mit tollem Ambiente. Frische, schmackhafte Gerichte und freundliches Personal. Perfekt zum Essen im Restaurant oder zum Mitnehmen.

Das Essen war sehr lecker. Wir hatten Tandoori Chicken und Bamyan Kebab mit afghanischen Reis. Die Bedienung ist sehr freundlich gewesen. Wir hatten als Getränk Dough (Joghurtgetränk mit Minze und Gurken) was sehr erfrischend war. Auch die Mantu waren richtig lecker. Die Portionen waren gut und wir sind satt und zufrieden gegangen. Das Ambiente und die Atmosphäre waren schön und angenehm.

Not too crowded, and the food is great and offers excellent value for money. The chicken dishes, in particular, are so well seasoned and pair so perfectly with the Kabuli Palau, it feels like your palate is about to explode. The meat dishes themselves are quite similar to Turkish cuisine. The sauces were a mix of Turkish and Pakistani Indian: yogurt on one side and mango sauce on the other. It's a shame that, unlike many Afghan restaurants, they don't serve traditional Afghan dishes. The staff were very friendly and polite and extremely flexible with our situation: we had to reschedule our reservation at short notice, but everything worked out perfectly. We'd be happy to go back.

Delicious food and good service. I can’t complain about the waiter. They don’t speak Dari or Pashto but can communicate in German and English. The restaurant has a bit of an Imbiss atmosphere which is less optional.

I was here two years ago. The food was fantastic and delicious. This time, unfortunately, the quality was poor. The meat was burnt and the rice didn't have the usual flavor.

Simply delicious and family friendly

It was much better back then. Tables weren't clean. Portions were getting smaller. The vegetarian dish had hardly any vegetables in it. A couple of potatoes and only a piece of bell pepper. Supposedly spicy, but it wasn't spicy at all. You order bottled water and don't even get a glass to drink. The rice, or rather Afghan rice, was super cold and the portions were tiny. The hand dryer in the restroom was broken.

I tried the mixed grill at Bamyan Kabab and generally found the atmosphere in the restaurant very pleasant. After ordering, I didn't have to wait long for my drink and three different dips to be brought to me. Unfortunately, no bread or salad arrived at first. Even when the food arrived with the salad, I had to ask for bread twice before any was brought to my table. The rice with raisins and carrots was very tasty! Unfortunately, the overall portion was a bit too small for my taste, and the meat was a bit dry. I wasn't so impressed with the small round bread and the dips. The cleanliness in the men's restroom also left a lot to be desired – the toilet seats were covered in urine, which unfortunately really spoiled the overall impression. I hope this will improve, because the restaurant definitely has potential, and I would give it another chance.

I recommend trying the Afghan food and delicious rice. You won't regret it and will want to come back later.

A friend showed us the place a few years ago, and I've been going there regularly ever since. The restaurant has never disappointed us, and the quality is always amazing. My wife and I always try to eat at different restaurants to try new dishes, but we always compare everything to Bamyan, and we're always drawn back to this restaurant. Afghan rice, top notch!

Bamyam Kebab – and for good reason. In all these years I haven't been disappointed here once. The food is consistently at the highest level: fresh, aromatic and prepared with a lot of love. You can just tell that quality and hospitality are very important here. The Qorma Ghosht is particularly recommended - tender meat in a wonderfully seasoned sauce, simply seasoned to perfection. I always enjoy eating here and can recommend Bamyam to anyone who is looking for authentic and outstandingly tasty dishes. A real insider tip in Essen

It is by far the worst and worst restaurant I have ever eaten in my life. The restrooms were extremely unhygienic and heavily soiled. After the meal, I had severe stomach and intestinal problems for two days. In total, I paid almost €90 – a bitter experience that definitely taught me a lesson. Absolutely not recommended.

You get far too little for your money. One plate wasn't even enough for the stated number of people. We were only given fresh bread after asking twice and our drinks were forgotten. More rice than meat. Bottomless impudence and way too much money spent

The food is good but the service quality is poor. They are ignoring once you call them for service and it can be more than an hour to get them to attend you . I attended iftar during Ramadan. After fasting for a long day once you go to a restaurant for food and get such a bad service ruins your fast breaking session. Moreover there was desserts and tea with the iftar menu after asking countless time was not server etto us. I would never recommend them for Iftar.

A culinary highlight! I had the pleasure of visiting an Afghan restaurant and absolutely loved it. As soon as I entered the restaurant, I felt the warm, inviting atmosphere - stylish decoration, soft oriental music and a friendly welcome made the first impression perfect. The food was simply outstanding! The starter, a selection of freshly made bolani (stuffed dumplings), was crispy and tastefully seasoned. For my main course I chose Kabuli Palau, the national dish of Afghanistan. The rice was aromatic, perfectly cooked and harmonized wonderfully with the juicy pieces of lamb and sweet raisins. The vegetarian dishes were also impressive with their intense spices and fresh ingredients. The service was attentive and warm. The staff took the time to explain the food and gave great recommendations. Price-performance ratio was also right - absolutely appropriate for the quality and the generous portions. Overall, a great dining experience that I recommend to anyone who wants to experience or re-enjoy Afghan cuisine. I'll definitely be back!

Unfortunately the store is no longer what it once was. The chairs are partly torn and broken. The food no longer tastes the same as before. The mixed grill plate is so little you get more fries than meat. The fries aren't salted and all in all it's not what it used to be. The prices have also changed drastically and have skyrocketed, although the service is poor and so is the food, which is a shame. I used to enjoy eating there with my family. It was just an absolute disaster this time and everything has changed. 3 samosas 10 €, grill plate made of three parts, that's really ridiculous. Before Ramadan everything was perfect.

Payment with cash only... Unfortunately, we don't have it during closing time and have to look for the ATMs which was open at that time, which wer mostly closed!

I've eaten there twice now and was more than happy twice. Hopefully I will come more often. The food tastes good and the price is more than justified. The meat tastes great and so do the side dishes. You can't expect much from rice, but no one makes good rice in under 15 minutes. The bread is fantastic. The ambience is decorated with great traditional pictures. Traditional Afghan seating is also available. The service is great. The waiters ask several times if you need anything. The men's toilet is clean. A prayer room will also be provided. I can definitely recommend the store. As someone from the Orient, it was a whole new world for me.

You can only get good Afghan food in Altendorf. I had the grill plate with rice, which I really enjoyed.

All you can eat is plain rice, it's hard to chew, the dinner kebab is too dry and the meat is hard to chew. It's a waste of money for this restaurant.

Food : Bamyan Kebab : Meat was very dry. The quantity did not correspond to the description. Rice had a very unpleasant dominant smell. Sabsi (spinach) was very tasty. The dish was very carelessly decorated (the eye eats too). Scheer Jakh (ice cream) was very watery, without qeimaq. Unique experience and maybe, if they don't improve, never again.

Went to the restaurant again after a long time and I have to say it was sensational again!! The food came quickly, warm and was of the best quality. The lentil soup is a dream😮‍💨 Price performance is also okay. Service staff are extremely friendly and can read your wishes straight from your eyes. I'm already looking forward to the next time.

The food didn't taste good at all, we ordered qabuli and kebab, it tasted like everything except qabuli and kebab. Was here 3 years ago, even then the quality of the food was not good and it still remains that way.

We booked the Hall for Eid Celebration for the group of 50. The group was well managed. Food was served as we asked. The food was delicious. The service was also good. All of us had a great time there. The hall is beautiful and we made some great memories :)

Definitely, the best afg restaurant on Altendorfer Road. Everyone should try Afghan food and you won't regret it! Can recommend it to everyone. Clean and tasty food. Always keep the quality high. Otherwise the stars can be deducted again. But great so far.

We enjoyed the Iftar at this restaurant very much. The palau is really tasty 😋And the service is super. The ladies keep serving free food to each table including salad, soup, dessert and the tea. Will come back again for sure!

Unfortunately, the quality of the food has steadily declined over the years. Kabab simply doesn't taste good anymore, the meat seems hard and when grilled, the marinade isn't as flavorful either. Qabeli doesn't really taste fully cooked. In general, there no longer seems to be any passion when it comes to food. The shop is nice, but not the back room, the walls there are dirty and the room is packed with junk.

A restaurant I have been visiting regularly since 2015. One of my first choices when I am in Essen. Afghan Rice is my favourite side dish. There is a ‘Halal’ sign.

The food was dry! But not authentic Afghan food! This is a bit mixed with Turkish food and very unfriendly staff, difficult to park, the tables and chairs are quite dirty, people sit outside smoking and they walk in without washing their hands, not really recommended.

I had the pleasure of eating at Banyan Kabab earlier and I loved it! The Mantu were really tasty, and I was particularly impressed by the yogurt sauce. But the highlight was definitely the grill plates, which were just insane. The meat was incredibly tender and had this bold smoky flavor. The rice was also perfectly prepared and very tasty. The ambience in the restaurant is cozy and inviting, and the service was excellent. I will definitely come back to try more of this great cuisine!

The food is really good. Authentic afghani taste. However they are renovating now a days (I visited on 10 january 2024) and this information is not on google. So if you are planning to visit there recently, please dont.
