Bagatelle in Köln

Nice place to sit in the sun if you want to, shade also available. Saturday „happy hour“ from 3-5pm. We arrived on a Saturday a little after 3pm when a wedding party was about to get their food so it took a while before we got all of our orders but we knew it beforehand so it was alright getting the small dishes one after another. Taste was great & friendly servers. Atmosphere only 3 stars as quite a few cars pass here. Only minus: we didn‘t get a basket of bread beforehand (which is indicated in the menu as „everyone gets one but we charge 2,50€ now“) and still got charged for it but we didn‘t complain as we took the table for 2 hours while others „had to wait“. All in all still a good experience 😊

Absolutely tasteless... unfriendly and rude!

Last Friday we spontaneously tried to get a table in the evening. After a short wait, we were allowed to sit at one of the bar tables directly at the bar. We quickly placed our order with a very friendly waitress - unfortunately that was the only positive thing about our visit. What followed was pure chaos. The restaurant was well attended, but despite the large staff, things just weren't running smoothly. Dirty glasses were piled up at the bar and orders took a long time - which wouldn't have been a problem for us because the food was freshly prepared. However, our food was delivered to the wrong table, so we didn't get some dishes at all. Extra plates, additional bread we ordered (for which we had paid extra) or the wine we ordered only came after we asked several times - or not at all. It wasn't my first time there and the menu was drastically shortened compared to before. Unfortunately I have to say: The Bagatelle is no longer what it once was. A really disappointing experience..

Great and cozy atmosphere, very nice and attentive service and top food. Everything was very tasty and fresh. We opted exclusively for vegetarian dishes

My girlfriend and I were there on Saturday and were looking forward to a pleasant evening...Unfortunately that wasn't the case. 1. Seat reservation: Although we had reserved in advance, we were given a table that was so small that it was far too small for the tappas and it was very uncomfortable to sit there. 2. Service: Our waitress brought the wine but didn't pour it. Overall, the service was also rather careless, we were asked to leave the table 7 minutes before the end of our reservation time because the next guests were already waiting (we then sat at a high table, between other guests, right in the crowded aisle, which was absolutely terrible. Previously we had asked to order something more... When I said to the waitress in a friendly way: Sorry, did you happen to forget about us? You wanted to be with us 20 minutes ago?" she simply replied snidely: "It's nice that you responded Watch!” - Sorry, that’s not how you treat paying customers/guests… Conclusion: The evening was unfortunately disappointing. We had hoped to enjoy a pleasant atmosphere, but instead it was rather stressful. Unfortunately two guests were lost…

The food was very nice albeit somewhat small portions but the service was on the slow side and a bit chaotic. They forgot to bring out some of the tapas we have ordered, we had to wait rather long for our drinks. A total of four different tapas from the menu were not available which made it hard for the vegetarians... Maybe they were just understaffed that day but the experience could have been better.

Carnival party as it should be!

So I rarely had such bad currywurst fries at the Baui Festival during Carnival. That for 12 euros is already exorbitant. Unfortunately no alternatives.

Loveless, expensive, food wasn't great either.

The food was totally over salted and inedible. Can't understand the good reviews. The waiter was really unfriendly, you had the feeling that you were not welcome as a “foreigner”.

Seat reservation: Although we had reserved in advance, we were given a small table that was actually only set for three people. That was very uncomfortable. 2. Ventilation: The air circulation was poor, so our clothes smelled strongly of food after the visit - now we have to wash everything. 3. Service: Our waiter brought the wine but didn't pour it. Overall, the service was rather lackluster. Conclusion: The price-performance ratio is not right and the evening was unfortunately disappointing. We had hoped to enjoy a pleasant atmosphere, but instead it was rather stressful. This urgently needs to be improved!

My partner and I loved our experience at this intimate neighborhood restaurant. Tapas style plates with classic and nouveau French cuisine were a hit for us! The service was excellent and the drinks kept flowing. Envision a traditional French bistro with the soul of a German bar and you’ve got this crowd pleasing spot. The portion sizes are small but surprisingly filling dependent upon what you order. A previous reviewer recommended 3-4 dishes per person but honestly that was far too much food for us. We would have been satisfied with 2 dishes per person though your hunger needs may vary. I recommend reservations but even on a packed evening the wait (for inside seating) was no more than 15 minutes. It’s worth the wait.

On its official accounts, this store makes derogatory comments towards people with a migration background and women. Please avoid this place if you don't want to give space to such people and opinions.

This restaurant may have good food, but the owners have no decency on social media. Totally confused, xenophobic posts where they talk about stupid gender and refugees who, as soon as they get their German passport, "go to their former home country and go shopping for a woman who is almost underage." And then people who criticize them for it call them trolls. Totally indecent. You go to a restaurant to feel good. That doesn't work here anymore. I'd rather cook myself.

Absolutely not recommended! The food is mediocre to bad. There are also racist, general statements on the Instagram page. Fishing on the right edge - because they can't keep the guests hooked with their food.

The food is extremely good. Unfortunately it was very cold in the restaurant, making it unsuitable for the cold months. The service was "okay". Friendliness and customer service are not very important. The service staff probably think they're too cool for that.

One of the best place to meet and chill in südstadt cologne. Very relaxed atmosphere and easy going staffs. Decent Frenchyyy tapas for little Appétit. Go early when sun is shining. People are queuing up in those seldom sunny days in germany. Like mixed customers too. Young and older, singles or families. Definitely a MUST when you live in South of cologne.

Good and nice service. Unfortunately the food was catastrophic. Tastes like a spoonful of Maggi had been poured into every dish. Crème brûlée has been confused with vanilla pudding.

Die Zwiebelsuppe wurde beinahe kalt serviert, ebenso wie die gefüllte Pastete. Die Pastete beim 2. Servieren wieder kalt. Das Cordon Bleu fritiert. Die Zitronentarte eiskalt und Fabrikware Der Service desorientiert, sehr mit sich selber beschäftigt und oberflächlich. Nie wieder ! Schade, dass die Bagatelle in Sülz nicht mehr existiert.

Extremely good cuisine in this price segment. Despite the full house, the service was impeccable and polite. The concept is very good and you can try many dishes in appropriately "small" portions. It is a little louder, so it may not be suitable for small children and people who have difficulty following a conversation. I would love to come back.

Completely incomprehensible why the owner indulges in gender altivism here. Toilets for everyone and then extra toilets for “Flinta”. No longer a safe space for women, at the same time women stand next to you at the sink in the all-gender toilet, while men stand right next to them at the urinal. Bizarre

It's uncomfortable to sit in, the shop is nice, the tapas are tasty or not 😶

We were a small group of 4 people who sat on the outside terrace, where there were still a lot of tables available. When we wanted to order, we were told that there was no time to order drinks and that we should drink somewhere else. By the way, we weren't the only ones who heard that. If you're overwhelmed, you should look for another job, but dealing with customers like that is really no way to run a store. A few meters further on we had great service in another store, which was at least as full. So there is another way. Therefore absolutely not recommended!

I was here with a few friends and we were lucky to get a table. It probably would have been better to reserve in advance. We all ordered 3 tapas per person and that was enough for us with the bread we also got. There was an entire vegetarian side with vegan options too. I really enjoyed all the tapas. Towards the end it got quite crowded and a bit louder, but bearable. All the tapas were quite expensive, but it was worth it. All in all, a clear recommendation from me.

Lots of delicious small portions on the table and everything is shared, that's how I like to eat! Everything I tried was very tasty.

We were at Bagatelle on the occasion of an anniversary and had a really great evening. The contact in advance to reserve and arrange the meals was super friendly and accommodating (to make organization easier, we opted for the flat rate meal with mixed tapas). The food was extremely tasty and, like the drinks, was fairly priced for the quality offered.

Unfortunately it's just far too cold to sit there comfortably. When the temperatures are below zero, the heating isn't on, so you sit there with a winter jacket and cold feet. Very unfortunate and unfair to the customers. I would like to pay a few euros more, which would then be invested in heating costs. Unfortunately it is unbearable. The food was always good, but it's not what it used to be. The service is great.

A French tapas restaurant. It offers classic French cuisine dishes in a small portion. Best to visit this restaurant with a group of friends or family members. About 3 to 4 dishes per person. Plenty vegetarian and vegan choices. It offers a wide variety of wine and desserts, too. Very relaxed atmosphere with friendly waiters ready to deliver the foods for you. Highly recommended.

I had heard a lot of good things and went there with high expectations. The ambience was nice. Unfortunately, the food was very mediocre. The beef ragout was very tough. The rest was nothing special. The only thing that was really good were the zucchini salmon rolls. The service was really not good. Our waiter in charge was far too rare and when he did come we ordered new wine that didn't come.

Well, below average. The food took forever to arrive, and then it was wrong. So wait again. The food wasn't bad but nothing special either. The service seemed a bit rushed and overwhelmed. You came there once, but that's enough.

Unfortunately, absolutely listless staff. The food tasted wonderful but both the men and the lady who served us simply put the food on the table. It wasn't even asked. Did it taste good? Can I get you something else? No smile. Nothing :) a very special experience that I would happily forego in the future.

Very pleasant. The food is between 4 and 5 stars for me. The service was excellent and on point. Extremely accommodating and kind. The only thing I could complain about about the ambience was the street side outside, a bit dirty (garbage on the floor) and crooked to sit on. But that is really negligible. War bereits letztes Jahr enttäuscht, wollte der Bagatelle aber noch eine Chance geben, da ich früher gerne da gewesen bin. Bei einem schönen Sommertag ist die Lage in der Südstadt wunderschön! ABER: Das Essen ist mittelmäßig und teuer geworden. Service schlecht beziehungsweise nicht vorhanden.

Unmotivated staff, food not recommended.

A very nice restaurant with great tappas and a nice ambience. Even though we waited half an hour, it was definitely worth it. The only negative point is the adjoining street, which you can sometimes hear when sitting outside in the summer. But there is another plus point for the tables with built-in heaters for the feet in winter. All in all, a very great restaurant and great for meeting up with friends or family.

Price/performance ratio is poor. Food is expensive, but tastes quite mediocre. Stale bread, boring/little dressing on the raw vegetables and side salads. In general, I found that the basic foods were not refined much through preparation in the kitchen. Service was OK.

DING DONG we have a 5* champion! We stumbled upon this little neighborhood gem and we loved it. The service was friendly, the Tapas were amazing (Cordon Bleu and Roast Beef being our favorites) and while it’s not cheap, I think it was reasonable for what they offered. Highly recommend

Extremely unfriendly staff! You hardly dare to order something again or ask for something because all you get back is grumpy and eye-rolling reactions. Of about six waitresses, only one was somewhat friendly. Unfortunately, the delicious (overpriced) dishes can't make up for that.

Nice restaurant. Terrace is nice. The food is good. Drink too. Service could be a bit better, doesn't feel well organized. But very friendly.

The tapas, called "bagatelles", are delicious. You can sit outside in the shade - it has a French flair. Only the beer selection could be a little larger. However, that doesn't detract from the whole thing.

We've been going to Bagatelle for years. Service is always friendly. Food tastes good. The evenings are always cozy. The only point of criticism is that prices are perhaps rising too sharply. Despite inflation, I find price increases of over 25 percent in a very short period of time to be too high (e.g. sweet potato fries from 5.5 to 6.9 euros). Especially for convenience products that are of good quality but not homemade.

The food was great and the service was friendly and coordinated, even though the place was packed. However, the toilets are not sufficient, I didn't find it ideal that there was a queue in front of the women's toilet. But I'd love to go there again!

Nice shop, great meeting place for southern city dwellers. A bit noisy inside. Terrace is better. See and be seen.
