A truly excellent restaurant with authentic German cuisine. At first, we were surprised by the variety of dishes, as this often doesn't indicate high quality, but that wasn't the case at the Bach Restaurant. All our requests were met immediately. After a considerable wait, the food arrived in a manageable size. Everyone really enjoyed the dumplings and the meat, and the side salad was fresh too. We ate at Bach Restaurant with the whole family last weekend – and it was simply fantastic! The food was not only incredibly delicious, but also served piping hot. I can hardly remember the last time I was served such wonderfully hot food in a restaurant – absolutely fantastic! Absolutely not recommended for solo travelers! I was turned away at 5:45 p.m. when I asked for (just) something to eat, despite having a free, unreserved table.... Fortunately, Eisenach has friendlier restaurants.

Delicious food, definitely recommended

We chose this restaurant because we wanted to try Thuringian specialties. It worked out very well; my husband had the Sauerbraten with red cabbage and dumplings, and I had the Thuringian bratwurst with sauerkraut and mashed potatoes. So, the meal was very good, 5 out of 5 points. The service was friendly, but not very attentive. You notice that when you're in the business. You could hear the kitchen staff talking loudly most of the time. The ambiance isn't bad, but when a restaurant is called BACH and there are – very nice – references to its personality and music, you don't live up to expectations when a loud pop radio station is playing in the restaurant and an equally loud rock radio station is blaring from the kitchen. Therefore, only 1 point for the ambiance.

Super delicious roast beef, excellent Thuringian cuisine. The staff was extremely friendly. The restaurant is ideal for visitors to the Bach House, which is directly across the street.

I can only recommend this restaurant to everyone. The service is so friendly and the food is delicious. They even have special menus for seniors if you're not a big eater. And the local wine is delicious, too.

Expensive, but the food was very good

While visiting Thuringia, we were looking forward to Thuringian specialties. Unfortunately, the food was very disappointing. The bratwurst was okay, but the meat was almost impossible to eat, it was so fatty and tough. Far too many onions on the plate to make the portion seem larger, and some of it was burnt/black. The fried potatoes could have been seasoned better, and they skimped on the ham cubes. The price-performance ratio was not at all appropriate. Unfortunately, it wasn't as expected and I wouldn't recommend it. There are two women's restrooms, one of which is broken. The menu states that cash payment is preferred, and the server has to get the change. It seemed as if tips were automatically expected.

Well, I was quite surprised! We sat down and were blatantly ignored by three waitresses. They made eye contact the whole time, walked past our table the whole time, and didn't say a word. Only by speaking directly did I even get the menu, and then there was no one there. Primitive, embarrassing, rude, disrespectful, incompetent. This is supposed to be Eisenach? Really?

We never even got to eat. Despite several free tables, we were turned away because we hadn't made a reservation. This probably reflects some of the reviews here. But it wasn't so tragic, as the Italian restaurant across the street left us completely satisfied.

The "Thuringian Bratwurst" was dry and shriveled (see photo) – no comparison to authentic Thuringian quality. Unfortunately, the side dishes for the Thuringian Sauerbraten were at best kiosk quality; fresh, local produce should be possible. The only plus point: the location. Otherwise – disappointing! We won't be back.

Simply a great restaurant. Amazing food, a huge selection at affordable prices, and delicious drinks with a huge selection and local wine! The service was very friendly and helpful, everyone had a good sense of humor, and ordering was easy. High praise! The ambiance was very nice. From the outside, it looks like a restaurant from the 19th century, with super comfortable seats and a neat and clean interior! P.S. The ice cream shop right next door has the best ice cream I've ever had, with incredibly reasonable prices! 🤗

This restaurant serves typical German dishes, with a focus on Thuringian cuisine. While the service was very friendly and quick, our fries were unfortunately undercooked. The ambiance was also quite nice, but nothing special. Nevertheless, we enjoyed our meal and were full.

Highly recommended. Great location. Friendly service and excellent food. Parking right across the street. And the birthplace of Johann Sebastian Bach is right across the street.

Not exactly fine dining, but good, honest, home-style cooking. My roulades were unfortunately a bit dry, but the mashed potatoes and red cabbage were very good. The service was young, friendly, and attentive. The tables in the back courtyard are nicely located, but residents are constantly passing through. Overall, the value for money is okay, as the portions are large. All in all, a safe bet for anyone who wants good, honest German food and definitely wants to be full.

We recently hosted a family celebration there and were absolutely thrilled: The fantastic decor, attentive, super-friendly service, and the once again fantastic food won us over. Yesterday we spontaneously reserved a table for Easter Sunday. We were kindly offered a table, both in the beer garden and inside. We dined in the beer garden in beautiful weather. The staff is very friendly. The food was very tasty and the portions were sufficient. Everything to our satisfaction 🥰 We chose sauerbraten with red cabbage and dumplings, as well as roulades with red cabbage and dumplings.

Nice, home-style restaurant not far from the Bach House. We enjoyed traditional Thuringian cuisine. Ice cream is also offered. Seating inside and outside, nice decoration!

Found this place by googling (and it was right across from the Bach Haus). The reviews were pretty high so I went for dinner. It was fairly small restaurant and a staff was looking at me like I was at the wrong place. I asked for a table and she gestured with her chin to point the table right in front of the door. Maybe I needed a reservation? Anyway, after 10 to 15 minutes later, same lady took my order and food came out somewhat fast (within 10 minutes). The picture perfect. And that was it. Literarily. Just a look. It was the most uninteresting/tasteless/waste of ingredients thing I've ever ate. I was so hungry but for the first time in many decades, I could not finish my meal..

Pleasant atmosphere. Decent kitchen. Unique location. It's just incomprehensible that the salope pop music was playing on the radio in the restaurant... and not the wonderful Bach pieces or at least exclusively classical music.

We celebrated a great class reunion 66 years after the school opened

I was a guest at the "Bach Restaurant" in Eisenach and decided on Thuringian beef roulade with dumplings and red cabbage for less than €20. The best thing about this dish is (normally) the incredibly delicious sauce! As soon as the waitress brought the plate to the table, an artificial "chemical smell box" of cheap "ready-made sauce" spread. I was able to convince myself from the first bite that my nose had not been mistaken. When I asked the waitress about it, I only got a shrug of the shoulders and a: "I'll tell the chef". The red cabbage and the dumplings were not homemade in my opinion either. That's why I only gave it 1 point and NEVER again!

Therefore only 1 point from me and NEVER again!

Good service, good food "cheap" would be happy again

Very tasty, authentic and authentic Thuringian dishes. We enjoyed it and the service was friendly and accommodating. A reservation is recommended!

First of all, it's nice to have found a place. Of the many empty tables in the cobbled courtyard, we couldn't choose one. That's okay and there will be a reason. My butt wasn't comfortable sitting on the uncomfortable beer garden chairs. The friendly service brought us a pre-ordered coffee with milk and liquids to quench our thirst in record speed. Unfortunately, I have to say that I have never had a “latte” like this served anywhere else. I expect at least a pot-sized vessel. But in front of me there was a small cup, about suitable for a mocha. Unfortunately, I couldn't recognize the drink as a latte either, as the taste of the coffee was barely detectable, more likely that it came from a machine in which the coffee strength was set too low. Unfortunately, I'm just as disappointed with the food. Well, I'm a foodie, I know almost all the restaurants in the surrounding area and maybe I'm a little spoiled. Only if I have to pay 21.00 euros for a lunch plate in a restaurant do I at least expect something specially prepared. I had two small dumpling balls on my plate and some red cabbage with the beef roulades. Either they were already industrially pre-formed or at least formed from a finished dumpling mass. I don't make the red cabbage myself either. The best one in a jar costs 2.09, cheaper in the wholesale market. I had three spoonfuls of it on my plate, not refined any further, already cooked a bit mushy. Two small beef roulades of the same shape were lying in a lot of sauce. I season roulades differently. That's a matter of taste. Ultimately, I didn't like the soft drink because instead of being refreshing, it was stale (hardly carbonated) and lukewarm. For 4.50 I expected more. Cost Dumpling mass Thuringian style e.g. REWE >my dumplings on the plate = max. 0.70 The drink 7up from the discount store > my glass max. 0.30 Red cabbage in a glass or can > my portion on the plate = max. 0.25 Beef roulade? In this way, the profit margin can be easily increased. By the way, my table neighbor's schnitzel was an industrial schnitzel. Guests still come to this good location and that's a good thing. Everyone has to decide for themselves. I like to go to restaurants because I'm too lazy to cook for myself, because I don't want to waste what little free time I have cooking, because I like to support the restaurant industry and I like to be served and relax sometimes.

Unfortunately, the seasoning is very weak and you can tell that some of it is ready-made food. And the prices are exorbitant. When I compare the quality and prices with another restaurant, Bach Restaurant stands in a dark light. No salad garnish. I had to order an extra small salad. The prices for non-alcoholic non-name drinks are also exorbitant.

Excellent food, but the terrace has very little atmosphere

Wir waren insgesamt 3x im Bach. Beim ersten Mal hatten wir nur Getränke und sind dann vor 22:00 Uhr wieder raus, weil das aufgrund der Nachbarschaft wohl dann zu machen muss. Ich hatte zwei Schöfferhofer, die gelben Schirme weisen deutlich darauf hin, dass es diese Biermarke gibt. Dann waren wir noch mal essen am Samstag und Sonntags noch mal auf einen Vormittags-Drink. Aber zum Samstag, da waren wir ja gut essen und das ist eigentlich die umfassendste Bewertung. Also erst mal: Der Service war herzlich. Nicht bloss freundlich, sondern richtig herzlich. Wir haben uns richtig willkommen gefühlt. Das war ein toller und entspannter Umgang mit unserer kleinen Gruppe. Danke dafür! …aber zum Lokal: Es handelt sich um einen gemütlichen Hinterhof, recht lange mit einem Durchgang zu einem Fitnessstudio oder etwas ähnlichem. Der Bereich ist gepflastert, neben an ist auf der einen Seite ein Garten, auf der anderen Seite direkt ein höheres Haus. Darin ist auch ein Teil der Gaststätte, der Weg zur Toilette ist ewig. Im Eingangsbereich gibt es sowohl links vom Tor als auch rechts einen Teil der Gaststätte. Man kann auch drinnen sitzen, aber es ist klein. Im Hof kann ein ganzer Bus sitzen, da passen 50 bis 60 Leute rein. Man sitzt auf den üblichen Biertischgarnituren, sowohl an runden, als auch an eckigen 4-er Tischen. Die Speisekarte ist weit mehr als für eine Biergartenkneipe üblich. Ich habe mich besonders gefreut, dass es Schnitzel au Four gab. Gut, es war nicht Steak au Four aber man freut sich ja über jedes DDR-Gericht, was es heute noch gibt. Ich wollte eigentlich Rostbrät habe wir haben und zum Grossteil dann für Schnitzel au Four entschieden. Und das war auch gut so. Das war selbst gemacht und das hat man auch geschmeckt. Die Preise sind nicht mehr günstig aber immer noch bezahlbar. Das Ganze ist auch nachvollziehbar. Dafür kann das Lokal nichts. Alles was wir serviert bekommen haben war gut. Der Dipp zu den Kartoffel Wedges in Rosmarin war sehr lecker, jede Frage dazu wie was gemacht wurde, wurde ordentlich beantwortet. Die wissen, was sie machen. Und der Geschmack gibt ihnen recht. Wenn wir wieder nach Eisenach kommen, gehen wie hier hin. Ich empfehle das Schnitzel au Four und ein ordentliches Weizenbier aber auch im weiteren Bereich gibt es eine hervorragende Auswahl. Der Service war ganz toll bei der Beratung. Fragen sie die Leute, die Empfehlungen sind hervorragend. Ich kann das Lokal absolut empfehlen, man war in jedem Bereich hilfreich. Ganz toll, wir kommen wieder. Bis dahin: alles Gute!

We “spontaneously” got a table. The service was neither very friendly nor motivated. She “served” us but nothing more. Grill plate with "Thuringian" bratwurst. We found that it was not original. Venison goulash with red cabbage and dumplings. Goulash was good, red cabbage was "canned and warmed up", absolutely no taste.

As an old Eisenacher, I ate Thuringian Rostbrätl and fried potatoes at B-A-C-H. It was plentiful and super tasty. A big compliment to the ladies from the service. There was nothing to complain about
