Beautiful location on the Gera River. Especially in good weather, you can sit outside by the water. The beer, of course, is top-notch, with the usual Augustiner quality. However, we found the dining areas to be quite noisy.

Bad-tempered service, were probably overwhelmed

We wanted a beer to go. It said so on the sign outside. Unfortunately, all the seats were taken. The bartender said he couldn't serve us right now because he was busy. The man at the bar said it wasn't possible, regardless of what was written outside. Rude, stressed, and incompetent.

A great atmosphere to feel good in. Unfortunately, our food left a lot to be desired. Spätzle was lukewarm on the edge of the casserole dish, hot inside... (Heated in the microwave?!) The fried onions tasted and looked like those from a resealable cup. The cheese wasn't a strong mountain cheese. And we've never eaten such bland chicken. Conclusion -> The only things that stand out here and attract visitors are the ambiance and the good beer, not the food.

The ambiance in the beer garden was truly beautiful and inviting. We also enjoyed the beer. The speed with which the food was served was simply unbelievable: Our dishes were on the table just 5 minutes after ordering. This immediately raised the suspicion that the food wasn't prepared very freshly. The main courses were a bitter disappointment. My cheese spaetzle was unfortunately too salty. When I complained and received a new portion, it was also too salty. That's beyond annoying. My companion's beef goulash wasn't any better: The meat was tough. The side dishes rounded off the negative impression: Both the bread dumplings and the potato dumplings clearly didn't taste freshly prepared, but rather like ready-made products from a package. Conclusion: The restaurant definitely scores points with its beautiful setting and good beer. However, the kitchen performance was unfortunately disappointing throughout. 2 stars, primarily for the ambiance and the beer.

It's great on a summer evening because you can sit outside. Tables have to be reserved, and unfortunately, they weren't clean when we arrived. However, the staff are really busy and their service was very friendly and prompt. The menu has something for every taste and budget.

We visited last week as a group of 17 people. Our food expectations were not met. Grilled dishes: meat was hard to chew, almost rubbery. Creamed mushrooms with bread dumplings were like a soup. Rösti with pollock and a side salad was more like a salad with little dressing, plus three small rösti (hard-fried) and salmon (this one was okay). The veal schnitzel was unfortunately overcooked and too dark. The waitress was unfortunately not having the best day at work. Friendly words were lacking, and the way they took our food orders seemed more annoyed than welcoming. Billing became a challenge and time-consuming. In short: not again. What a shame.

The stupid store won't even let you charge your phone. The staff are totally rude when you ask questions; no one wants to work there. The only thing you can do is drink beer...

Great atmosphere, a nice terrace right on the water, a quiet and beautiful location. Not a traditional beer garden, but nice. Delicious food, extremely fair prices, and very fast and attentive service. The food arrived quickly and was excellent!

Nice spot on the terrace next to the Merchants' Bridge. It's also nice if you can get one of the balcony seats. The waiter was very kind, patient, and very hard-working. The food was excellent and, as you'd expect from a brewery, hearty. Unfortunately, they didn't have any of the strong beers. Well, the "regular" beers are also very drinkable. However, in the late afternoon, there were a few smug groups and lots of smokers milling around, and there was also a "sweet" smell every now and then. The overall impression, however, was very good; I would recommend it.

Friendly service. Drinks and food arrived promptly. The veal schnitzel with chanterelle mushrooms was absolutely delicious. The best schnitzel I've ever eaten. The vegetarian cheese spaetzle is also highly recommended. Reservations for Saturday evening are recommended.

The service was very disinterested and the food was "OK" at best. The ambiance and beer were great!

We were at Augustiner today and were completely disappointed. When we asked for a high chair, we were given a completely dirty one—well, we've seen that from other restaurants, unfortunately. The service was nonexistent; at times, we were ignored and had to actively fight to be served. The Obazda (traditional Bavarian dish) was very good, and our daughter's spaetzle with sauce was also okay; everything was served very friendly. The main courses, however, were an absolute disaster. The beer goulash was so over-seasoned that it was barely enjoyable after just a few bites. The roast pork was the real deal: it was so dry that it was barely chewable. We had to leave it alone. Any Bavarian would be ashamed of the bread dumplings, and any Thuringian would be ashamed of the dumplings. Since my husband is Bavarian and I'm from Thuringia, we unfortunately had to say afterward: Never again. The roast pork, in particular, is an insult to Bavarian cuisine... We definitely won't be back!

This lovely beer garden by the riverside is truly enjoyable. The German beers are, as always, excellent—helles, pils, and wheat beer. Great view, friendly staff, and a pleasant atmosphere. I’d recommend it and would gladly come back again.

A disgrace for the restaurant industry – the menu says food is served until 11 p.m., but at 10 p.m. the kitchen is closed. Open until midnight, but at 11 p.m. they charged for it, and that on a Saturday night. NOT RECOMMENDED!!!

The atmosphere was great. But that's about it, unfortunately. The staff were completely overwhelmed, even with a half-full restaurant, and unfortunately, they didn't even know their own menu. After complaining twice, I simply kept the wrong drink. A real shame... I won't be back.

We stopped for a beer and a snack. The location was beautiful, the quiet little square had a lovely view, and the food was average... but the service seemed like a joke. They didn't even consider our table until they were forced to. When we were ordering, she didn't seem to speak English or know how to smile. When it came to the bill (to explain how to tip and pay), she suddenly became multilingual! Overall, a nice experience, but the staff (not all of them!) wasn't up to par!

A wonderful beer garden with a view of the Krämerbrücke bridge. Not only does the food here serve Bavarian-inspired dishes, but there's also a bit more variety on offer. For example, there was an excellent tarte flambée with fresh chanterelles!

I'm from Bavaria and always look forward to getting a draft beer when I visit Erfurt. Unfortunately, the quality of the place depends heavily on the waiter. You'll either get very quick and friendly service, or you'll get a holiday temp who doesn't care about the job. Since I work in the restaurant industry myself, things like this quickly put me in a bad mood, as I have no sympathy for unfriendly behavior towards customers. After all, they bring home the paycheck. In conclusion, the beer is great, of course, and the location is fantastic. As for the food, I have to say it's much better when it's less busy. It's definitely always worth stopping for a Seidla (literally "Seidla") 👍

You really need a lot of time and patience. The server was friendly but seemed new and visibly overwhelmed. One or two more people would have certainly been helpful. The food was okay. Unfortunately, there wasn't enough sausage salad, so I had to opt for the Obazter instead. The bread is delicious. The atmosphere is so spoiled that you feel like you're on a piecework construction site. You've barely finished eating and you feel like you're being pressured to get up. Would you have wanted another drink? Never mind. Well, go somewhere else then.

My daughter and I ended up there quite by chance on our day trip. Since my daughter is gluten intolerant, finding a restaurant isn't always easy. At the Augustiner, however, the staff were very knowledgeable and even asked the kitchen for advice. They brought us the allergen menu straight away and went through possible dishes with us. Ultimately, my daughter only wanted a portion of fries, but since those aren't always gluten-free, they asked the kitchen again and even took photos of the list of ingredients. They really took the issue of intolerance very seriously, and it certainly won't be the last time we'll eat there on a trip to Erfurt. I had a baked potato with herb quark, and I have to say, it was incredibly delicious and plentiful. We were truly satisfied all around 😊

One of the best Augustiner breweries. The service (an architecture student) was very friendly and professional! The food was excellent! Highly recommended!

The Augustiner is comparable in style to the Hofbräuhaus. The cold dishes were good (sausages, cheese, etc.). The hot dishes were rather lacking. Several meals in our group were lukewarm. The pork knuckle tasted below average. The overall ambiance, the location, and the drinks menu were very good. The service was rather below average. Several orders were forgotten. When asked questions or during conversation, the staff seemed annoyed or even rude. Overall, we won't be returning, at least not for a hot evening meal.

Food was tasty and prepared quickly

The worst roast beef I've ever eaten. The chanterelle mushrooms with the schnitzel were just mush. The service was unmotivated and unfriendly.

The Obazda tasted much worse than the ready-made one from the supermarket. It came with a few slices of bread, which also wasn't tasty and wasn't enough for the amount of Obazda. So I had to reorder more bread, which cost another €3. So I paid a total of €13.90. Never again.

We were at the Augustiner in Erfurt two days ago. The atmosphere and location are wonderful. But the service is a disaster. We waited 30 minutes for a server, even though we were the only ones inside. We then asked at the counter. When the food arrived, the waitress had forgotten something. She didn't bring it either. So we went back to the counter and picked it up ourselves. A complete disaster. They shouldn't just focus on the ambiance here, but also pay attention to the service.

The tarte flambée was far too cheaply topped. The grill plate was full, but the seasoning was forgotten. It just doesn't taste good without salt. We wouldn't eat there again – our opinion.

The restaurant's location is very nice. The food, however, was sensationally bad. The creamed chanterelle mushrooms with bread dumplings were lukewarm. The sauce was more like an unseasoned, watery broth and had nothing in common with cream sauce. The dumplings also had no taste. The mushrooms were sandy, to boot. The pale draft beer was of the usual quality. At least...

Nice pub in Erfurt's old town. We only had a drink here. The beer is certainly recommendable, but you shouldn't drink an Aperol Spritz here. The glass was small and the drink was diluted. That's always very disappointing...

We visited the Augustiner Bräu in Erfurt expecting to experience the usual quality and atmosphere, as one would expect from other Augustiner restaurants. Unfortunately, we were disappointed. The food was of mediocre to poor quality – carelessly presented, sometimes underseasoned, and far below the standard we've come to expect from Augustiner. The service was also very disappointing: unfriendly, stressed, and uninspired. Questions were answered only curtly or with irritation, which further soured the entire experience. Overall, the visit was a bitter disappointment. Those expecting the typical Augustiner standard will unfortunately not find it here.

Benefit from the great location

Nice restaurant with a beer garden, great for enjoying the Krämerbrücke bridge in good weather. Unfortunately, our request to clean the dirty table was met with a rather grumpy response.

The restaurant is located directly behind the Merchants' Bridge. It has a great beer garden with parasols. Service is provided from musty cellars. The beer tastes good, but it's constantly overpriced. Salads and snacks are okay, with normal portions. Cooked dishes are rather small.

This is another place that should be on your list when visiting Erfurt. Reservations are recommended here, too. In summer, there's a wonderful beer garden with an extensive menu. In bad weather, a restaurant with a medieval flair beckons. We were assigned a seat on the balcony with a magnificent view without a reservation. We received friendly and prompt service, which isn't exactly standard for a restaurant of this size and crowd. This spot on the list remains unchanged.

The sausage salad with bread was really good, but the potato salad with sausage was inedible, so the very friendly waitress promptly took it back. The ambiance is nice.

The head waiter's lordly manner is very unfriendly. And the Fassbrause Zitrone (lemon beer) we ordered is a clear lemon sparkling water. However, upon further inquiry, he defends himself as Fassbrause (lemon beer).

Guild-style restaurant in a central location

Not recommended... The fact that we had to wait a bit for service is something we can live with. We ordered an Augustiner Helles, an Augustiner Edelstoff, a Swiss sausage salad, and the cheese spaetzle. The beers were served from behind over my shoulder – I was surprised – in my hand rather than on the table. Afterward, I heard the words: "The beer mats are here" – so we should take them ourselves. The food was then served by someone else, more friendly. Unfortunately, the sausage salad was swimming in vinegar and was far too sour. The cheese spaetzle were OK. The beer was tasty, and the location, right on the Krämerbrücke, is amazing! We might have had another drink despite the disappointing food, but the service was so distant. There's also a large round bar table outside, right in the entrance area, which serves as a smoking area. This may seem plausible to smokers, but for us, the seating arrangement was completely illogical, as it's disadvantageous for non-smokers. Moreover, this table is so close to the entrance that even the waiters can barely get past it.

We only had a drink. The service fluctuated greatly, from "super quick" to "I have time...how about you?" The beer was delicious, though.

The food was unbearable. Fried potatoes with turkey liver. Fried potatoes without bacon and onions. The liver was bone dry.

Magnificent location facing the Kramerbruche. Awesome, even for guests. Reservations are required, as service takes time.

Rustic dishes. The absolute highlight is, of course, the Augustiner beer on tap. One of the few restaurants in Erfurt that serves a tasty beer. In summer, the beer garden is highly recommended if you like hard chairs. However, a spontaneous visit isn't recommended, as most of the tables are reserved.

The Sauerbraten was so dry, I googled if I could inhale it. Our guys' trip took us to the Augustiner Brauhaus in Erfurt – hungry, thirsty, and full of life. What we got was a culinary shock of the highest order: • My Sauerbraten was so dry that I had to wash down every bite with half a liter of liquid. It could have been sold as barbecue lighter. The beans that came with it? So salty that I briefly thought I'd accidentally ordered seawater. • One of us had spaetzle that were about the size of his pre-party appetite. So tiny. • Four others ordered the grilled meat platter, which was supposedly "rich." The richness of it was only disappointment. The meatball was inedible, the rest of the meat – salt-free, like a diet. We thought the chef had sworn never to allow any flavor. • My own grilled meat platter? Arrived 20 minutes later. I was practically in a one-man dinner show – only without the applause. The service was also… let's just say: cold as a fish stick in the freezer. Friendliness? None. You felt more like a nuisance than a paying guest. Conclusion: If you like to puzzle over what food should actually taste like, this is the place for you. Everyone else should move on – perhaps to the nearest gas station, where at least there are friendly vending machines.

We arrived at the restaurant late in the afternoon without a reservation and were fortunate enough to get a table. Our server was friendly and attentive, but unfortunately, some of the other employees seemed rather lackluster, which somewhat dampened the overall impression. Drinks and food arrived after a reasonable wait. The beer was very good, but the food was only partially convincing in terms of taste: The goulash was delicious, although not piping hot. The knuckle of pork was nice and juicy, but the dumplings in both dishes were rather disappointing, and the knuckle sauce seemed watery and bland, with an oily film on top. It was also annoying that we were massively bothered by wasps and flies while we ate. This wasn't the restaurant's fault, of course, but it was still very unpleasant. Overall, the visit was okay, but the food could have been improved. With a little more care with the side dishes and seasoning, it would have been much better.

In short, the ambiance is really nice, the service is friendly, but their T-shirts are covered in stains and they're constantly eating. Sorry, that's not good. Let's get to the food, which is absolutely terrible in my opinion. The schnitzel is too thick, the potato salad has no flavor, the cauliflower is overcooked, the tarte flambée has far too much bacon on it, and the knuckle is dry. The wine spritzer comes in a 0.5-liter water glass, very classy. This review is based on my personal experience, nothing more, nothing less.

A classic Bavarian-inspired inn in the heart of the old town. The food is good, but nothing spectacular. But the ambiance is truly great. You sit outside by the river with a direct view of the bridge. There's probably no restaurant in Erfurt with a more beautiful view.

Absolutely not recommended. My goulash was completely dry and tough. The sauce wasn't thickened, but rather a mixture of fat and broth with no real flavor. The dumplings were cheap, ready-made. The staff accepted the complaint without comment. There was also a group at the next table who said they were having a karaoke party there. Here, too, no comment from the staff.

It's a pleasant place to sit, with a view of the Merchants' Bridge. If you're lucky, you might snag a table for two right by the Gera River. The popular outdoor area is furnished with beer tables and chairs, as well as numerous parasols. We've been there several times and can praise all the dishes. The Aperol Spritz was a bit weak, and with Bavarian beer, you have to know what to expect. The staff is friendly and quick, but can get very busy when it's busy.

The food is good, priced above average, and the portion sizes are decent (the asparagus salad from the seasonal menu could have been made with more lettuce, even if it was labeled as a salad). The accompanying bread was forgotten but brought upon request. The service is friendly and the serving time is reasonable. There are a few vegetarian dishes, but no vegan options. I ordered a Thüringer Rosbrätl, and it was swimming in oil. The salad was very limp and tasteless. Plus, I ordered a large beer, and they brought me a small one. The waitress wasn't very friendly or helpful. Shame about the place, but I wouldn't go back or recommend it.

Unfortunately, I encountered the wrong service staff. "They're not serving anymore!" Seems like a very easy excuse on a hot summer evening at 7 p.m. "I don't feel like serving you because you're sitting alone at the table" would have been more realistic. What a shame! Bad staff are easy to find and ruin online reviews.

The important thing here isn't the food. If you ask me, the cooking and serving here isn't done with love; I had a completely different experience in Thuringia. But the ambiance is unbeatable when the weather's nice. So, you should definitely go at least once.

A beautifully located restaurant with a large outdoor dining area, directly across from the Merchants' Bridge. The food (very reasonably priced, by the way) is hearty, regional and very visually appealing. Unfortunately, the Erfurt beer goulash didn't live up to our expectations; the meat was a bit dry, and there wasn't enough sauce for the really good dumplings. However, the beer was tasty, and the service was friendly and attentive.

The location is very nice, and my portion (Hax'n) was decent. The restaurant is very large and offers everything your heart desires. I was very satisfied. Groups should make reservations well in advance.

A really nice beer garden in Erfurt. Everything is very clean. I loved the restroom. It's located in a rustic vaulted ceiling. The decor is perfect. The interplay of old and modern is very well done.
