Äthiopisches Restaurant & Bar Scheger in Augsburg

Ich war mit meinen 4 Kindern da. Zwischen 6 und 16 J.. das Ambiente hat mich wirklich zurück nach Afrika versetzt. Die Musik tat ihr übriges. Wir hatten uns schon etwas ausgesucht und da kam der super freundliche Kellner, der alleine in einer Leichtigkeit den ganzen Laden bediente und dabei sogar noch aus der Küche hörte, dass meine Kleinste das nicht mochte. Also kam er mal ebene mit einem Teller Bulgur und Tomaten um die Ecke. Wir hatten nicht mal gefragt. Das ist ein Service den man selten sieht. Zum Nachtisch (Jogurt mit Mango) hatten wir drei Portionen bestellt. Er kam nur mit drei Löffeln. Also fragten wir nach drei weiteren Löffeln. Diese brachte er mit einer Gratisportion der Nachspeise. Es ist etwas besonderes, nicht sehr teuer, super lecker und der Service ist ganz ausgezeichnet! 🫶

Mein erstes Mal äthiopisch Essen gehen und ich bin begeistert. Trotz dass ich mich mit dieser Küche vorher nicht auskannte, hat sich dieses Essen nach zuhause angefühlt. So ein warmes heimeliges Gefühl, das daher kommt, dass man spürt, dass dieses Essen Liebe, Tradition und Heimat in sich trägt. Vegetarisch/vegan war durch mehrere Möglichkeiten möglich, mit dem Probiergericht kann man sich da auch gut durchtesten. Super tolle Gastgeber, liebevolle Einrichtung. Das Essen eignet sich auch hervorragend bei wärmeren Temperaturen.Werde ich weiterempfehlen und bei Möglichkeit gerne wiederkommen!

Ich habe das Scheger in Augsburg eher zufällig entdeckt: von außen wirkt es ziemlich unscheinbar, fast wie ein echter Geheimtipp, den man leicht übersehen könnte. Umso überraschter war ich, als ich drin war: Die Einrichtung ist stilvoll, gemütlich und mit viel Liebe zum Detail gestaltet. Man fühlt sich sofort wohl. Es stimmt, man muss manchmal ein bisschen Wartezeit einplanen, aber ganz ehrlich? Es lohnt sich absolut. Das spricht ja auch dafür, dass der Laden gut besucht ist. Der Service ist freundlich und aufmerksam, und die Atmosphäre insgesamt einfach entspannt. Für mich ganz klar: 5 Sterne. Das Scheger ist definitiv ein Geheimtipp in Augsburg, den ich jederzeit weiterempfehlen würde...auch wenn man vielleicht kurz warten muss.

04/2026 Wir waren im Restaurant Scheger (Äthiopisches Restaurant) bereits öfter. Das Restaurant hat nach wie vor eine gemütliche Atmosphäre und eine sehr feine Küche. Ebenfalls ist der Service sehr gut. Wir werden wieder kommen. 09/2025 Im Äthiopischen Restaurant Scheger bin ich jetzt schon am 2. Mal innerhalb von 2 Monaten dort und es war auch am 18.09.2025 wieder toll. Ich war mit Kollegen hier und alle waren begeistert. 07/2025 Das Restaurant ist von außen bis auf das Schild etwas unscheinbar, man wird aber eines besseren belehrt, wenn man rein geht. Modern, traditionell und ein geschmackvoller Touch Äthiopien. Der Service ist sehr freundlich, zuvorkommend und das Essen ist eine Wucht. Sehr geschmackvoll und fein. Man isst auch wie im Land selbst mit den Fingern, keine Angst, es gibt auch Besteck, wenn gewünscht. Auch fein fand ich den Honigwein, dieser wird direkt aus einer art Karaffe getrunken und ich finde, wenn man schon äthiopisch isst, kann man auch äthiopisch trinken, auch vom Landeseigenen Bier war ich positiv überrascht und das als bayerischer Biertrinker. Dieses Restaurant sollte man sich merken und es lohnen sich auch mehrere Besuche. Ein tolles Haus und die fünf Sterne sind voll verdient.

Ich war überrascht wie gut das Essen war. Leider gibt es keine typischen Desserts und schwarzer Tee war aus.

Durch dieses Restaurant sind wir in die äthiopische Küche eingetaucht, welche hier zu unserer Lieblingscuisine! Wir können nur empfehlen, sofern ihr noch keine Erfahrung gemacht habt, hiervon zu probieren - ein absolutes Hightlight und zudem noch gesund! Die Gastgeber sind mehr als freundlich, weshalb man sich sofort sehr wohl fühlt. Sie beraten einen auch wenn man zu Beginn etwas überfordert ist und wird definitiv nicht enttäuscht. Vegetarische Gerichte sind selbstverständlich und soweit ich es verstanden habe, sind die Injera glutenfrei! Die Portionen sind sehr groß und dadurch sind die Preise mehr als fair. Das Ambiente ist sehr authentisch. Wir kommen inzwischen sehr gerne regelmäßig. 10/10!

Sehr herzliche Gastgeber & Service! Wir waren zu viert da und haben uns, damit wir alles probieren können, für gemischte Platten entschieden. Das Essen schmeckt lecker und frisch (ist auch gesund) und ist echt mal was sehr besonderes! Mit den Händen zu essen ist auch ein Erlebnis :-) Zudem ist das Essen wirklich preiswert für das was man alles geboten bekommt. Wir empfehlen das Restaurant weiter und kommen sehr gerne wieder!

Wir haben dieses Restaurant zum ersten Mal an meinem Geburtstag besucht, als ich von meinem Freund dorthin eingeladen wurde. Schon beim ersten Besuch hat uns das Essen vollkommen überzeugt – geschmacklich wirklich hervorragend und eine willkommene Abwechslung zu den üblichen Küchenrichtungen. Aufgrund der positiven Erfahrung sind wir inzwischen sogar ein zweites Mal spontan hingefahren, obwohl das Restaurant für uns nicht gerade in unmittelbarer Nähe liegt. Der Weg lohnt sich jedoch in jedem Fall. Eine kleine Besonderheit, die unseren ersten Besuch zusätzlich geprägt hat: Uns war zunächst nicht bewusst, dass traditionell mit den Händen gegessen wird. Beim zweiten Besuch waren wir damit dann schon deutlich geübter. :) Insgesamt können wir das Restaurant definitiv weiterempfehlen. Für uns ist es ein echter Geheimtipp, den wir auch gerne im Freundeskreis weitergeben.

Ein afrikanisches Kleinod in einer unvermuteten Ecke Augsburgs aber mit direktem Straßenbahnanschluss. Nüchtern gehalten ohne Chi-Chi, aber mit echt afrikanischer Anmutung. Es gibt klassisch äthiopisches Essen, wahlweise per Einzelteller oder (originaler) auf einer großen Platte für alle zum Teilen. Neben dem Fleisch ist auch für Vegetarier gesorgt. Es schmeckt gut und als ob frisch gekocht würde und man darf gerne mit den Fingern essen. Wer afrikanische Schärfe liebt und gewöhnt ist: deutlich Bescheid sagen, ansonsten bekommt man die eingedeutschte Variante - auch gut, aber halt nicht, was man aus der afrikanischen Küche kennt. Das Ganze ist ein 1-Mann-Betrieb, was einem ein wenig das Gefühl von zuhause bekocht werden gibt, andererseits notwendigerweise Bestandteile der äthiopischen Esskultur wie Kaffeezeremonie auslässt, weil sie zu aufwändig wären. Für alle, die gerne auch mal ausgetretene Pfade verlassen und die Reichhaltigkeit der afrikanischen Küche über Couscous und eingedeutschtes Taboulé hinaus kennenlernen möchten, eine absolute Empfehlung! Und vielleicht kennt dann ja jemand eine Lokation mit mehr Mittags- oder Laufkundschaft zu mieten - das würde dem Restaurant sicher helfen 🙂

Bei Scheger gibt es sehr gute Gerichte mit leckerem Injera. Deswegen waren wir schon häufig dort. Sehr freundlich!

Super leckeres Essen und uns wurde auch immer freundlich erklärt was wir essen und wie man isst. Man bekommt zwar auf Wunsch Besteck, aber normalerweise nutzt man das Brot um die Sauce aufzunehmen. Wir freuen uns schon auf unseren nächsten Besuch und weiter uns durch die Speisen durchzuprobieren

Wir waren gestern zum ersten Mal hier und sind begeistert! Das Essen war unglaublich lecker und authentisch. Besonders gefallen hat uns die warme, herzliche Atmosphäre – man fühlt sich sofort willkommen. Der Service war sehr freundlich und aufmerksam. Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder!

Laden wirkt von außen sehr unscheinbar Aber das essen und der Service sind top. 2 mal dort gegessen. Geschmacklich trifft es genau mein nerv. Kann es mit gutem Gewissen weiterempfehlen. Werde auch ein 3 mal kommen.

Das Essen schmeckt nicht wie das Original, es ist nicht scharf und es gibt nicht verschiedene Gemüsesorten.

Wir waren zu viert, teilten uns eine Vorspeise für 2 Personen und hatten 4 verschiedene Hauptgerichte, dazu einige Getränke (Bier, Kaffee). Wir zahlten am Ende 130 Euro inkl. Trinkgeld und es war jeden Cent wert! Von außen wenig einladend, ist das Restaurant innen durchaus angenehm, der Service überaus freundlich. Die Atmosphäre ist angenehm. Tja, und das Essen ist hervorragend! Sowohl Fleisch- als auch vegetarische Gerichte haben uns sehr gut geschmeckt. Wir kommen gerne wieder!

wunderbares leckeres Essen - alles wird mit den Händen mit Fladenbrot (Inegra) gegessen. Tolle Mischung aus veg. Gerichten aus Hülsenfrüchten, Rind, Lamm. Sehr schmackhaft, von mild bis seh scharf. Sehr nette Bedienung, viele echte Äthiopier hier. Authentisch, hausgemacht- auch der Honigwein.

Woooow! Das Essen war sooo gut! Der Chef und seine Mitarbeiter waren so freundlich und haben uns direkt freudig begrüßt. Der Tisch war hübsch gedeckt, schönes, gemütliches Ambiente. Passend zur Gemütlichkeit hat es trotz wenig Kundschaft doch so gute 20min gedauert bis wir bedient wurden, das gehört aber sicherlich auch zum entspannten Lebensstil. Der Honigwein wurde direkt probiert und für gut empfunden. Salat frisch und lecker, wie auch die anderen Vorspeisen. Sowohl vegetarische als auch Fleischplatte waren umwerfend. Ein üppiges Gaumenschmaus-Erlebnis. Das Sauerteigbrot ist einfach der Hammer. Farb- & Geschmacksexplosion. Mango-Joghurt Dessert & eine große Runde äthiopischen Kaffee zum Abschluss. Eine 10/10 kulinarisch und an Gastfreundschaft! Wir kommen definitiv wieder 🥰

The food was absolutely fabulous! Fresh ingredients and beautifully presented. We would have loved to try even more, but unfortunately, we were already a bit overwhelmed. We'll definitely be back to continue this culinary journey. I can wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant and its attentive staff. The food was a 10 out of 10! The chef even came to our table, was super friendly, and even refilled the bread without being asked. One of the best dining experiences I've ever had! We'll definitely be back!

It was my first time trying Ethiopian food and it was amazing. The textures and the flavours were spot on! I like spicy food and the dishes labelled "sharf" were definitely spicy but not too much. The spice level was perfect. The waiters were very friendly, service was quick and the location was very welcoming. Highly recommend!

A truly special culinary experience! We went to an Ethiopian restaurant where people traditionally eat with their hands – and it was fantastic. The food was incredibly aromatic, authentic, and prepared with love. The service was super friendly and attentive. What was particularly nice was that when someone at the table ran out of injera, they immediately refilled it for free – without us having to ask. All in all, a wonderful evening with outstanding food. We'll definitely be back!

The small restaurant is owner-managed, the chef cooks himself and only serves typical local dishes. The hospitality is very warm and personal, the prices are fair. A sign of the good quality is that Ethiopians also eat at Scheger, who of course know and can judge their country's cuisine very well.

It was my first time trying Ethiopian food, and the staff was incredibly friendly, guiding us on how to enjoy it to the fullest. The bread was delightfully spongy, and the dish was abundant, featuring a variety of side dishes that made it easy to sample different flavors.

The Scheger restaurant on Donauwörther Straße is a real insider tip and a culinary gem that you shouldn't miss! The menu is a real treasure trove – every palate will find something to suit their taste here. Every bite tells a story, and I have to say: the fairy tale of taste and enjoyment has a happy ending here! It's best to go there when you're very hungry because the food will fill you up. In addition, the owner was also super friendly because he explained everything to you and - at least in our case - you simply got a plate put together.

Recently I had the pleasure of visiting the Ethiopian Restaurant in Augsburg and I can safely say that it was one of the most outstanding culinary experiences of my life. Not only was the food extremely delicious, but it also offered unique and one-of-a-kind flavors that you can hardly find anywhere else. As soon as I entered the restaurant, I was greeted by the tempting scents of Ethiopian spices. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the interior reflected the rich culture of Ethiopia. I chose a traditional dish: Injera with Doro Wat and various side dishes. The soft, sour injera harmonized perfectly with the spicy chicken stew and the aromatic side dishes of lentils, vegetables and meat. Every ingredient was fresh and tasted excellent. What was particularly impressive was the variety of spices, which gave each bite a new dimension. What made the visit even more memorable was the friendly owner of the restaurant. He greeted each guest personally and took the time to explain the dishes and how they were prepared. His openness and helpfulness created a family atmosphere that made the evening particularly pleasant. It was obvious that he cared deeply about the satisfaction of his guests. In summary, I can highly recommend this Ethiopian restaurant in Augsburg to anyone who is looking for new and exciting taste experiences. The delicious food and warm service make every visit a special experience.

It's been a while since we ate here. Unfortunately I can't understand the good reviews... We tried a total of 5 different dishes and I found the food pretty boring across the board. Admittedly, I have little experience with Ethiopian food, but I have tried a lot on all continents and am open to everything... I can relate to most cuisines in the world, but I don't remember a single positive thing here. The service was okay, the rooms are not nice but clean, parking and location aren't that great either...

I had the pleasure of dining at the Ethiopian restaurant [Restaurant Scheger] in Augsburg recently and it was an exceptional experience. The restaurant exudes an authentic and welcoming atmosphere that immediately conveys a feeling of warmth and hospitality. The staff was extremely friendly and took the time to explain to us the different dishes and traditions of Ethiopian cuisine. This made our visit a special experience. The menu offered a wide range of traditional Ethiopian dishes. We opted for the mixed platter, which had a wonderful selection of different dishes. Every bite was a delight – the flavors were intense and well balanced. Of particular note were the lentils and the injera, the typical Ethiopian flatbread, which was fresh and delicious. The portions were generous and the value for money is excellent. The presentation of the food was loving and authentic, which enriched the entire experience. Additionally there was a nice selection of traditional drinks that perfectly complemented our meal. The ambience, the music and the decoration rounded off the overall picture wonderfully and made our evening unforgettable. Overall, our visit to [Restaurant Scheger] in Augsburg was an absolute pleasure. The combination of authentic cuisine, warm service and pleasant ambience makes this restaurant a must for every lover of Ethiopian cuisine. We will be back definitely!

Four of us went there on the recommendation of a friend and I have to say: we were all thrilled! The restaurant is a bit inconspicuous and hidden, but it always depends on the inner values! The ambience is fine. The food, the service, the chef and everything else are top notch! Great selection of food, there are also vegetarian dishes. All with super delicious sourdough bread. (I immediately get hungry again when I think about it.) You can eat with cutlery or with your fingers as desired. The chef came personally to ask if we were happy - which of course everyone was. Lamb, beef, starter - everything was great.

Unusual as there are not many restaurants serving Ethiopian cuisine. Definitely something different. We thought it was a great experience. Thanks to the team!

We have been coming here again and again since the Corona period because we are really excited about this restaurant. One of my favorite food spots here in Augsburg!
