We go here regularly! The food is fantastic and the owner is super friendly and accommodating. We are already looking forward to the next time.

Incredibly good food. Pleasant spice and, above all, nutritious. The landlord served you very courteously. We felt completely comfortable there. It could maybe be decorated a bit nicer, but somehow the restaurant already has a certain charm as it is. We'd love to come back.

The small restaurant is owner-managed, the chef cooks himself and only serves typical local dishes. The hospitality is very warm and personal, the prices are fair. A sign of the good quality is that Ethiopians also eat at Scheger, who of course know and can judge their country's cuisine very well.

It was my first time trying Ethiopian food, and the staff was incredibly friendly, guiding us on how to enjoy it to the fullest. The bread was delightfully spongy, and the dish was abundant, featuring a variety of side dishes that made it easy to sample different flavors.

The Scheger restaurant on Donauwörther Straße is a real insider tip and a culinary gem that you shouldn't miss! The menu is a real treasure trove – every palate will find something to suit their taste here. Every bite tells a story, and I have to say: the fairy tale of taste and enjoyment has a happy ending here! It's best to go there when you're very hungry because the food will fill you up. In addition, the owner was also super friendly because he explained everything to you and - at least in our case - you simply got a plate put together.

Recently I had the pleasure of visiting the Ethiopian Restaurant in Augsburg and I can safely say that it was one of the most outstanding culinary experiences of my life. Not only was the food extremely delicious, but it also offered unique and one-of-a-kind flavors that you can hardly find anywhere else. As soon as I entered the restaurant, I was greeted by the tempting scents of Ethiopian spices. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the interior reflected the rich culture of Ethiopia. I chose a traditional dish: Injera with Doro Wat and various side dishes. The soft, sour injera harmonized perfectly with the spicy chicken stew and the aromatic side dishes of lentils, vegetables and meat. Every ingredient was fresh and tasted excellent. What was particularly impressive was the variety of spices, which gave each bite a new dimension. What made the visit even more memorable was the friendly owner of the restaurant. He greeted each guest personally and took the time to explain the dishes and how they were prepared. His openness and helpfulness created a family atmosphere that made the evening particularly pleasant. It was obvious that he cared deeply about the satisfaction of his guests. In summary, I can highly recommend this Ethiopian restaurant in Augsburg to anyone who is looking for new and exciting taste experiences. It's been a while since we ate here. Unfortunately I can't understand the good reviews... We tried a total of 5 different dishes and I found the food pretty boring across the board. Admittedly, I have little experience with Ethiopian food, but I have tried a lot on all continents and am open to everything... I can relate to most cuisines in the world, but I don't remember a single positive thing here. The service was okay, the rooms are not nice but clean, parking and location aren't that great either...

The menu offered a wide range of traditional Ethiopian dishes. We opted for the mixed platter, which had a wonderful selection of different dishes. Every bite was a delight – the flavors were intense and well balanced. Of particular note were the lentils and the injera, the typical Ethiopian flatbread, which was fresh and delicious. The portions were generous and the value for money is excellent. The presentation of the food was loving and authentic, which enriched the entire experience. Additionally there was a nice selection of traditional drinks that perfectly complemented our meal. The ambience, the music and the decoration rounded off the overall picture wonderfully and made our evening unforgettable. Overall, our visit to [Restaurant Scheger] in Augsburg was an absolute pleasure. The combination of authentic cuisine, warm service and pleasant ambience makes this restaurant a must for every lover of Ethiopian cuisine. We will be back definitely!

Four of us went there on the recommendation of a friend and I have to say: we were all thrilled! The restaurant is a bit inconspicuous and hidden, but it always depends on the inner values! The ambience is fine. The food, the service, the chef and everything else are top notch! Great selection of food, there are also vegetarian dishes. All with super delicious sourdough bread. (I immediately get hungry again when I think about it.) You can eat with cutlery or with your fingers as desired. The chef came personally to ask if we were happy - which of course everyone was. Lamb, beef, starter - everything was great.

Unusual as there are not many restaurants serving Ethiopian cuisine. Definitely something different. We thought it was a great experience. Thanks to the team!

The best cuisine which I could find in Augsburg which closely resembles my ethnic culinary delight we have in our hometown.The taste was mind blowingly good and so was the treatment at this restaurant.Will definitely come again here. A great little restaurant that looks totally inconspicuous from the outside. Special thanks to the service staff, super friendly. Since we had no idea of ​​Ethiopian cuisine, the nice gentleman explained everything to us in detail, both what we were eating and how we could best enjoy it. Very tasty food, be sure to try the Ethiopian coffee afterwards, the taste thanks to the spices, an absolute burner.

We ate here on Thursday and we were thrilled. We couldn't imagine much about this cuisine and so we took the 3-course menu so that we could try as much as possible. Above all, the main course of lamb, beef and chicken was absolutely amazing! Many other restaurants can learn a lesson when it comes to cleanliness. There you can feel like you're eating off the ground. We will definitely come back and take the whole family with us. You have to try something like this! Mega delicious food! Ethiopian is really something different, you eat with your hands and from the starter platter to the traditional coffee at the end, everything was really, really tasty. The prices are more than fair, the service was also super friendly and we had a nice conversation - an all-round successful evening with friends that we will definitely repeat 😊.

Wir waren hier am letzten Sonntag essen und es hat uns sehr gut gefallen. Ich hatte ein Gericht auf Fladenbrot aus Teff-Mehl und es schmeckt säuerlich. Erst ungewohnt dann aber sehr lecker. Üblicherweise landestypisch ohne Besteck... Gerne wieder und sehr zu empfehlen...

Wir wurden sehr herzlich begrüßt und mit sehr gutem vegetarischem äthiopischen Essen verwöhnt. Wir haben 2 verschiedene Vorspeisen und die gemischte Platte mit Injera aus 100 % Teffmehl gegessen und als Abschluss ein original Kaffe

Sehr gut Geschmack unglaublichund Tradition

Wir haben durch Zufall entdeckt, dass es nun in Augsburg einen Äthiopier gibt und mussten das Restaurant direkt ausprobieren. Als Vegetarier haben wir die gemischte Hauptspeise bestellt, für unseren Geschmack könnten die einzelnen Gerichte noch würziger abgeschmeckt sein. Der traditionelle Honigwein Tetsch wird in dem landesüblichen Gefäß serviert, was sehr schön ist, der Wein ist aus eigener Herstellung, könnte aber etwas süsser sein. Wir haben einen jahrelangen Referenzwert des Äthiopischen Restaurants Blue Nile in München. Der nette Chef war sehr offen für unser Feedback und hat uns angeboten auf Voranmeldung „landestypischer“ zu kochen. Wir werden auf jeden Fall wiederkommen, es ist toll endlich ein äthiopisches Restaurant in Augsburg zu haben!

Wir haben die 3 Gänge für 2 Personen bestellt. Vorspeise, Hauptgericht und Nachspeise waren sehr lecker, reichlich und eine tolle neue Erfahrung. Sehr freundlicher, herzlicher Service! Einzig auf die Nachspeise haben wir etwas länger gewartet. Freuen uns auf den nächsten Besuch!

Sehr sehr leckeres Essen. Ist was ganz anderes wie wir es hier in Deutschland sonst kennen. Die Portionen sind sehr groß und der Service ist 1a 👍 immer wieder gerne

Sehr freundlicher Service. Das Essen sehr gut und authentisch. Besonders zu erwähnen ist das Fladenbrot aus reinem Teff-Mehl, welches ohne Weizenmehl etwa drei Tage lang ruhen muss, damit sich die charakteristischen Bläschen bilden, die den Teig fluffig machen. Teff kannte ich vorher noch nicht. Es ist eine in Äthiopien heimische Getreidesorte, die seit über 5000 Jahren kultiviert wird. Teff hat einen ganz charakteristischen, leicht nussigen Geschmack, ist glutenfrei, reich an Ballaststoffen, Eisen und Mineralien und lange sättigend. Für alle, die äthiopische Küche noch nicht probiert haben: Hingehen und ausprobieren. Es lohnt sich!

Rezensionen von 2022: Wir waren vor einigen Woche beim neuen äthiopischen Restaurant Scheger-Augsburg in der Donauwörther Straße. Nachdem wird während des Lockdown nur mal was abgeholt hatten, wollten wir es unbedingt mal live testen. Der sehr schüchterne, unsichere aber herzliche Kellner hat uns zu Beginn die äthiopische Esskultur erklärt. Traditionell werden die Gerichte auf großen Platten für viele Personen gemeinsam serviert. Wenn man natürlich eine eigene Portion/Platte, wie unser Veganer der Runde 🌱, haben möchte, ist das natürlich auch kein Problem. Das Pärchen der Gruppe zB hatte zwei verschiedene Gerichte auf einer gemeinsamen Platte angerichtet bekommen (Foto). Hauptbestandteil zu jedem Gericht sind die Injeras, das äthiopische Fladenbrot, auf dem jedes Gericht serviert wird. Damit isst man dann auch, also eigentlich ohne Besteck. Wir hatten 3mal den große Vorspeisenteller für zwei Personen für 11,50 Euro: - Sambusa mit Rinderhack und Gemüse - kleinen gemischten Salat mit Hausdressing - Getoastete Häppchen: Baguette mit Kräutern Grün Kohl und äthiopischen Frischkäse Und als Hauptgang 3mal lt. Karte die gemischte Platte Nr. 41 (16 Euro p.P.) aus - Lamm in leicht scharfer Tomaten-Paprika-Soße - Rind in milder Kurkuma Zwiebel-Kräuter-Soße - Hühnerfleisch in pikanter Soße aus Zwiebeln, Paprika, äthiopischer Kräuterbutter mit hartgekochtem Ei. Über die anderen bestellten Essen kann ich leider nichts sagen. Allgemein hab ich das Gefühl, dass sich nicht ganz an die Bestandteile auf der Karte gehalten wird. Man bekommt halt das was gerade da ist, also leicht abgeändert. Aber egal, es hat uns nicht gestört und trotzdem geschmeckt. Die Injeras haben einen säuerlichen Eigengeschmack. Wenn man zu viel davon nimmt, kann es leicht zu säuerlich schmecken. Das Lamm und das Rind waren sehr gut. Das Hühnchen empfand einer der Gruppe zu trocken. Manche Gewürze könnten dem europäischen Gaumen fremd sein 😊 Als Nachspeise gab es für alle unangekündigt Mango Püree mit Joghurt aufs Haus 👏. Am Ende haben wir noch gefragt, woher der Name "Scheger" kommt, weil er sich so deutsch/bayerisch anhört und man da kein afrikanisches/äthiopisches Wort dahinter vermutet. "Sheger" oder "Shaggar" ist in der Landessprache der Oromo, einer äthiopischen Volksgruppe, der Name für die äthiopische Hauptstadt Addis Abeba. Damit es sich deutsch liest, wurde ein "C" im Namen des Restaurants eingebaut. Das Lokal ist auf jeden Fall eine Erfahrung Wert. Edit 14.6.23: Heute probierten wir zu dritt die vegetarische Platte. Diesmal waren die Injeras gar nicht mehr so säuerlich. Wir waren dieses Mal wieder sehr begeistert und vereinbarten, dort regelmäßig essen zu gehen.

Super lecker! Bereits vor 1,5Jahren dort gegessen und wieder sehr zufrieden gewesen heute. Vielen Dank und bis zum nächsten Mal Das Bild zeigt die veg. Platte für 2Personen. Für uns mehr als wir brauchten, bei Bedarf kann man immer noch „Brot/Schwamm“ erhalten. Die vegetarischen Teigtaschen als Vorspeise waren auch super lecker.

Wir waren heute aufgrund der Empfehlungen "auf der Durchreise" hier und wurden nicht enttäuscht. Superfreundliches Personal und leckeres, frisch zubereitetes Essen. Es war unser erstes Mal im äthiopischen Restaurant und wir werden sicher wiederkommen, wenn wir in der Nähe sind.

Traditionelles äthiopisches Restaurant in Augsburg - Geheimtipp!!! Wir wurden von einer Freundin zum Essen eingeladen, welche beruflich oft in Äthiopien tätig ist. Es wurden von ihr Verspeisen und Hauptspeisen bestellt. Das typische Sauerteig-Brot mit den vielen Luftlöchern ist geschmacklich anfangs etwas ungewohnt, schmeckt jedoch sehr gut. Die verschiedenen Speisen waren allesamt sehr empfehlenswert. Der Inhaber und die Mitarbeiter waren alle sehr freundlich. Das Restaurant ist vom Ambiente her sehr angenehm und warm eingerichtet. Man fühlt sich von Anfang an sehr wohl. Hochstühle für Kinder sind vorhanden. Die Sanitäranlagen sind sehr sauber. Parkplätze sind leider nur in den Nebenstraßen vorhanden, also etwas Fußmarsch einplanen. Absolut empfehlenswert!!!!

Waren gestern wieder mal im Scheger, ein kulinarisches Highlight!! Stimmt, von außen unscheinbar, aber der "Inhalt" macht es aus. Kassu der Inhaber ist ein "Goldstück", nett, witzig, aufgeschlossen, eben ein Gastgeber in Perfektion, selbst auf die Kinderwünsche geht er trotz vieler Gäste ein. Es ist ein umfangreiches, superleckeres, "ehrliches" Essen und zudem noch günstig. Kurzum, Daumen hoch und mehr als die 5 Sterne.

Das Restaurant macht einen sauberen Eindruck. Der Besitzer ist sehr freundlich und erklärt gerne seine Landesküche. Mir hat es sehr gut geschmeckt und ich komme sicher mal wieder.

Lange Zeit fuhr ich fast täglich direkt am Restaurant vorbei und nahm es mit vielleicht 1/4 Auge war. Nun habe ich es endlich mal über die Schwelle geschafft, und mich gefragt, warum erst jetzt?! Ein großzügiger, offener Gastraum mit afrikanischen Details, eine wahnsinnig leckere Küche und ein sehr freundlicher Inhaber/Koch laden zum Wiederkommen ein!
