Arema in Berlin

Update: I've been coming here for almost a dozen years now. Now I'm always recognized, even if I haven't been here for a few months and the question is "the same as always" and it's almost always like that. The spaetzle is amazing and so is the Wiener Schnitzel (not Viennese style)! This restaurant is a must for me and also for my business partners. This restaurant in an old butcher shop is by far my favorite restaurant in Berlin, precisely because it is not overcrowded with tourists and always offers delicious food at a reasonable price. For many years I have always come here when, as a Rhinelander, I am in Berlin both personally and professionally.

A beautiful, incredibly cozy café with a rich breakfast menu among other dishes. Lots of healthy and vegetarian food that tastes really delicious. The price-performance ratio is consistently good! The atmosphere is pleasant, it feels very spacious and the seating options are beautifully individual, including armchairs and sofas, large and small tables. I'll definitely be back!

A place where you don't have to draw conclusions based on first impressions. The premises and furniture are outdated, the toilet is next to the kitchen, one hall passes into another, so staff and visitors are always passing by. But that's all... If you want a tasty, quick and inexpensive breakfast, you won't find anything better within a 3-5 km radius))) 40 euros for three))) Very large portions, deliciously prepared, restaurant-level dishes. Service is very good, cooking takes 10 minutes. Fruit and vegetable salad are added to the dish. Delicious coffee. When you start eating, everything else fades into the background...

I ordered a cappuccino but I got it really foamy, and it costs 4.00€ for a cappuccino with oat milk. However, the interior and the staff were good!

Super good food at a fair price

I would have liked to rate the ambience and food. Unfortunately we found ourselves in front of a closed door today. I asked by email in November whether the Arema would be open on December 24th, 2024 and offer breakfast. The answer was "Yes, we are open until 5 p.m." and so I reserved a table for 5 people this morning on the occasion of a family member's birthday. This was also confirmed to me by email. Until we stood there on time today in front of the locked door. There was a note on it that said “12/24/24 closed”. A notification by email in advance would have been professional.

We had a delicious breakfast here in a cozy atmosphere. Thank you very much - we will definitely come back!

We came here spontaneously with 26 people and were very well received. Nice, humorous staff who were very flexible. Gladly again at any time.

The food was good, but the service left a lot to be desired, the waiter made some inappropriate comments.

The food was delicious and the staff was great. Regular price, paid 24,40 for my plate and a beer. The only thing that I'd change is the lighting, but this is my personal preference. I like very bright ambient, similar to an operating theatre 😅

Good breakfast and good service. Unfortunately though there was a hidden nail under the table where we were sitting. As I sat down I tore a hole in my trousers and cut my leg which bled a bit. Please can the restaurant get rid of this nail to prevent further accidents.

Arema is a large, cozy restaurant located in the heart of Moabit, perfect for a relaxed meal with friends or family. The menu is vast, offering everything from Schnitzel and Flammkuchen to pasta and a seasonal selection. The Schnitzel, crispy and flavorful, paired well with the Bratkartoffel. The salad with grilled chicken was solid, with the chicken cooked perfectly juicy. However, the Flammkuchen could have used a bit more salt and a few extra minutes in the oven, as it wasn’t quite as crisp as it should be. The service was friendly and warm, though there was a bit of a wait for the food to arrive. Despite that, the chilled atmosphere made it a great spot to hang out. Prices are fair, making it a good neighborhood restaurant. Worth checking out for casual dining in Moabit!

It smelled very good as we walked past. We ate a tarte flambée there and I have to say it was the best we've eaten in all of Germany so far. We will certainly repeat this during our stay in Berlin. Thank you very much 😊

We didn't eat here but the food looked and smelled great. Staff are friendly and it's a big place, outdoor and indoor to choose from. It's about the same price for beer and wine as you pay in downtown Berlin even though it's in the suburbs.

The restaurant was between our hotel and the Birkenstr subway station. We noticed that it was actually always full. It can only be a good sign. We reserved a table and felt very welcome. The food was excellent, the service was good. 2 days later we wanted to eat there again, but unfortunately had to cancel the table. But then we went and ordered food to take away. We even got plates and cutlery because we didn't have them in the hotel room. What a foundation of trust. Despite all the stress, the young men and women had smiles on their faces. Thank you for your kindness. If we are in Moabit again, we would like to come back. Kind regards from Lake Constance.

Veal schnitzel was unfortunately very hard and dry. The wienerschnitzel is juicier. Price-performance ratio is set a little higher. Maybe also Berlin standard. I'm out of there as far as that goes. Waiting time for food 40 minutes. It's human that things happen sometimes. Hopefully next time I eat I'll make an adjustment.

Would not go again, just because for this money you can eat tastier in so many other places! Otherwise it’s just a solid average place. If you are not considering yourself a „foodie“ you probably will be ok.

Cozy family restaurant in Berlin Moabit. Not really cheap but good food

We discovered this great restaurant on our trip to Berlin and had three great evenings there. Particularly attentive and friendly service! Delicious food. Always a smile on your lips. They made everything possible - even for us as a larger group we found a place to watch the European Championship game. Absolute tip 😊

I like to have breakfast at Arema. There is a huge selection of breakfast options, from light breakfasts to full, top quality English breakfasts. We recommend.

We ordered pasta with salmon and spaetzle without ham, emphasized several times. Our order was forgotten and taken again, so the food arrived quite late. Spaetzle came with lots of ham so we passed it back. After another 20 minutes the food we ordered finally arrived. My plate is already empty - so eating together is not possible. We were not offered any compensation or discount. Only when we asked were we reluctantly given two espressos.

Nice cafe, but also pretty expensive. Location and furnishings very nice. In terms of food, it is more suitable for a small snack or breakfast. Selection for main courses limited and sometimes a bit too salty

Atmosphere and service nice. I think the food is well crafted. However, I recently had a negative experience when I ate cheese spaetzle. A very small portion came. This was really small compared to previous visits and also compared to other restaurants. I don't think that's okay and it's almost brazen. Increased costs for energy or similar do not justify any price increase. This looks more like an increase in profits at the expense of the guests. I don't know if I'll go again. I live in the neighborhood and otherwise like to go to the store.

Ich war das erste Mal in diesem Lokal. Die Speisekarte ist gut sortiert, außer vielen Klassiker gibt es auch einige Gerichte der schwäbischen Küche wie Käsespätzle oder Maultaschen. Ich habe ein Schnitzel mit Bratkartoffeln bestellt, das Schnitzel war absolut gut, die Bratkartoffeln nicht zu 100 % cross gebraten. Die Bedienung war sehr freundlich, und der Inhaber kam auch noch an den Tisch und hat sich erkundigt, ob es uns geschmeckt hat.

Am Samstag den Tag beginnen mit einem guten Frühstück in gemütlicher Atmosphäre? Ab ins Arema. Spiegelei, mediterranes Frühstück oder Müsli, alles war schön angerichtet und es hat sehr lecker geschmeckt. Der Kaffee war auch klasse. Abgerundet wird das alles durch einen netten und aufmerksamen Service. Wir kommen gerne wieder und können das Arema empfehlen.

Ich war gestern im Café arema und ich muss sagen, es war ein tolles Erlebnis. Das Restaurant ist sehr gemütlich und stilvoll eingerichtet, mit vielen historischen Details aus dem alten Berlin. Der Service war sehr freundlich und aufmerksam, und das Essen war köstlich. Ich habe den Käsekuchen probiert und er war sehr saftig und cremig. Das Café arema ist ein echter Geheimtipp für alle, die eine besondere Atmosphäre und leckeres Essen schätzen.

Ich benutze oft den Lieferdienst. Die Qualität der Speisen sind super, die Lieferungen stets pünktlich und freundlich. Ich kann das Lokal nur wärmstens weiterempfehlen und ich erde immer wieder gerne bestellen. Danke Arema Team.

Sehr große Auswahl und auch echt lecker, waren zu 12. frühstücken und alle waren sehr zufrieden.

Service und Essen herausragend gut! Hatten das Separee für unsere Firmenweihnachtsfeier gebucht - schon im Vorfeld war der Kontakt beeindruckend - jede E-Mail wurde von Chef binnen Minuten beantwortet und ein Anruf zur Abstimmung folgte unmittelbar. Sehr unkomplizierte Reservierung. Bekamen das Weihnachtsmenü vorab und konnten uns so genügend Gänsekeulen sichern. Die persönliche Begrüßung des Chefs vor Ort war von aufrichtiger Herzlichkeit. Alle Kollegen waren von den Speisen beeindruckt - von den Zutaten bis zur optischen und geschmacklichen Umsetzungen. Alle Menüs kamen im Abstand weniger Küchengänge, so dass wir alle gleichzeitig essen könnten. Das Servicepersonal war sehr geduldig mit uns und machte auch ein paar Späße mit. Der Chef verabschiedete sich noch einmal selbst als er in den Feierabend ging. Großartige Cocktail/Bierauswahl und -Beratung! Kann ich allen nur wärmstens empfehlen! Danke an das ganze Team!!

Super leckeres Restaurant mit einer tollen Karte und einer reichhaltigen Auswahl. Wir hatten verschiedenste Speisen und jeder war überdurchschnittlich zufrieden. Wir gehen hier öfter hin. Flensburger und Pilsner Urquell vom Fass. Absolut empfehlenswert. Ein tolles Ambiente und super netter und aufmerksamer Service.

Ich war mit einer Freundin hier und das Essen war extrem lecker. Vorallem die Pancakes sollte man probieren. Der Service war spitze, sehr schnell und super freundlich. Eigentlich ist es super gemütlich eingerichtet, aber es war eiskalt im Restaurant. Deswegen die zwei Sterne Abzug fürs Ambiente. Ich komme aber auf jedenfall wieder und hoffe das es dann wärmer ist.

Original Fliesen der einstigen Fleischerei von ca.1890 schmücken den Innenraum. Eine sehr zuvorkommende Bedienung bei hervorragendem Essen rundet das Ambiente perfekt ab. Die Preise für das Angebotene Essen sind angesichts der Qualität mehr als fair . Daumen hoch Arema, weiter so👍

Wir haben das Schnitzel mit warmen Kartoffelsalat gegessen. Das war damals noch ganz hervorragend. Heute bekommt man ein ca handtellergroßes, sehr dünnes Schnitzel. Darunter berbirgt sich ein Klecks Kartoffelsalat. Und das kostet knapp 20 Euro. Die Bedienung ist sehr freundlich. Aber wenn ich für so viel Geld essen gehe, möchte ich zumindest satt werden.

Great weiner schnitzel served on a bed of potato and bacon hash. Huge portions as well as being well made! There’s also a great selection of Italian dishes alongside some of the German classics that were equally delicious. Child/baby friendly and plenty of room to keep out of other diners way with young children. We went for dinner, but there’s also an extensive breakfast and lunch offering with something for every taste.

Wir waren schön zu zweit im Arema frühstücken. Ich kannte das Etablissement schon von vorherigen Besuchen. Das Frühstücksangebot ist wirklich vielseitig. Wir entschieden uns für das Mittelmeerfrühstück, das Käsefrühstück und einem Omelett mit Hirtenkäse. Die Qualität und Menge der Speisen war hervorragend (die Portionen sind wirklich groß). Das Personal war sehr freundlich und die Atmosphäre angenehm. Die lange und leidvolle Suche nach einem passenden Frühstücksangebot mit gemütlichem Ambiente in Berlin hat für uns nun ein Ende. Preis/Leistung stimmt voll und ganz.

Wer ein ausgiebiges Frühstück sucht und gerne abwechslungsreich frühstücken möchte, ist hier richtig aufgehoben. Wir hatten das kleine Käse, ein ausführliches wo mir der Name fehlt und einmal das Ei Benedict mit Avocado. Ich kann nur sagen das jedes sehr schön zurecht gemacht war und auch mehr Auswahl bot als man schaffen konnte. Insgesamt sehr lecker. Absolute Empfehlung. Auch eine gute Auswahl an Kaffeespezialitäten und Säften. Ich hatte einen Tee und eine Rhabarberschorle. Die Anderen verschiedene Kaffees, alle zufrieden. Preis Leistung passt in meinen Augen.

The wiener schnitzel is delicious, tender, and well seasoned. They serve it with either a potatoes/cucumbers salad or baked potatoes. The tomato soup is warm and hearty. Services are great. The ambiance is nice and cozy.

Das Arema ist ein schönes Restaurant, in dem es auch spät Abends noch was zu futtern gibt. Die Bierauswahl ist einwandfrei, das Schnitzel war sehr lecker und auch die Portion stimmte. Lediglich beim Ambiente mach ich ein bisschen Abzug, da man den Laden doch etwas schicker dekorieren könnte. Die Fliesenwände allerdings fand ich sehr schick.

Irgendwie ist es für mich schon eine Art kleine Tradition, dass ich bei jedem Berlinbesuch versuche, auch im Arema vorbeizuschauen. Das Schnitzel ist ein Traum, ebenso Ambiente und das sehr aufmerksame Personal :)
