The Apollon in Ihlpohl is simply unbeatable! Every time I eat here, it feels like a little vacation in Greece. The welcome is always warm, almost as if I were visiting good friends. The food? Absolutely top-notch! The meat dishes are perfectly grilled, the gyro is juicy and flavorful, and the side dishes are fresh and lovingly prepared. The appetizer platter is also a must-try – tzatziki, dolmadakia, fresh bread… a poem! I'd especially like to highlight the service: attentive, fast, and always cheerful. You can tell the passion they put into their work. The value for money is also excellent. In short: Apollon is my absolute favorite Greek restaurant in the region – and anyone who's been here once will immediately understand why.

As for the quality and taste of the food...absolutely top-notch, especially the perfect seasoning. The portions are generous and not overly generous. I don't understand the negative reviews in this regard, but perhaps some people are dissatisfied with the prices and are making such comments. It's very unfair! I highly recommend this restaurant!

It was really nothing. We waited 1 hour 10 minutes for our food. The gyro plate for €18.50 was the cheapest meal with fries on the menu and the largest portion. I had the No. 63, gyros with souvlaki and fries. It was bottomless. The portions were really small. That was nothing, really nothing. For €9.50 you get a kebab. My portion was half a kebab and cost €22. And let's not talk about the pizza, it was even smaller and cost €14. Better get 2 kebabs. You save time and money. The only plus point was the toilets were very clean. Edit after answer: At first I thought why not comment cynically given such cynical prices. However, there is a difference between cynicism and a personal attack. I criticized your restaurant and the service associated with it. You criticize me as a person. To be clear, the way you respond only shows that you are neither capable of taking the criticism seriously nor are you seriously interested in it. But I'm actually surprised that you have so much time to answer given the markup; you should actually be busy counting money. I actually didn't want to share this experience, but your way of doing things changed my mind. Shortly after the meal, when we went to the front so we could pay, the next table, a woman and a man, asked me how we would find it. I shared what I wrote below, in a less cynical way. I was then told that they had only visited the restaurant as a temporary measure, as all the other “good” restaurants had already been reserved. The portion sizes for these two guests are more than questionable compared to the prices. Since my opinion is dismissed here as youthful tastelessness, this assessment by much older guests can perhaps weaken their argument. At this point it should be said again that your grin when you brought us the plates didn't really improve the mood. It seemed more like you were amusing yourself at how ridiculously small these portions were. Before you respond energetically to this again, I suggest you perhaps invest this energy in going to the optician. With these newly acquired glasses you could then come to a Greek in my area in Cologne and compare with your own eyes the fly droppings that you call a plate portion. As amusing as this conversation is, visiting you was shocking. Last but not least, I would like to point out to you that there are authorities who are always happy when the card reader regularly fails at peak times, especially if the raw product markup does not match the portions served. The most expensive Greek restaurant I've ever been to in my life. The expectations of my companions and I were correspondingly high when it came to the quality and size of the portions. Unfortunately, we were disappointed in this regard. The mixed salad that was served as a starter was very meager in portion. After five normal picks with a fork, the salad disappeared, but it was delicious. 30 minutes after eating the salad, the main course arrived, where the disappointment continued. I got off quite well with the number 55 gyros with fries (instead of rice) with an extra charge, tzatziki and the aforementioned mixed salad as far as the price/performance ratio is concerned. My companions opted for more expensive dishes, which, in contrast to my dish, looked meager in terms of quantity. The portions were similar to those for seniors. In one dish we looked in vain for the fries advertised among others. In the end we came up with a handful. When it came to pizza, people were afraid to top it off. For the price you get 1. larger 2. better toppings and 3. above all tastier!! Service and ambience correspond to the Greek mentality. All in all, I would only choose the store as a second choice if you have the necessary change and don't have high expectations of the food.

The staff is warm and attentive, you feel welcome and at home right from the start. The service is quick yet personal, which makes the whole experience even better. The ambience is also wonderful. The furnishings exude Mediterranean charm and create an atmosphere that conveys the feeling of vacation. Everything is perfect here – the food, service and atmosphere are absolutely top. You can't pay by card! Very annoying, but it's not far to the nearest ATM.

Unfortunately, I can neither rate the food nor the ambience of this restaurant as my second visit today ended again disappointingly. The first time, I noticed a large sign right on the door: “Card payment not possible.” Today the sign was still there, but since I happened to have cash with me this time, I spontaneously decided to give the restaurant a second chance. The evening seemed well attended, but not overcrowded - that seemed promising at first. But when I asked politely at the counter if I could order something to go, I got a curt answer: “Yes, if you want to wait an hour.” Without any further explanation and with a quick “bye,” I was literally turned away. To be honest, I was shocked by this unfriendly manner. I expect a welcoming atmosphere and warmth, especially from a Greek restaurant. I was hoping to perhaps find a new regular here that I could visit with friends - but after this second, disappointing experience, I probably won't be coming back.

At Apollon you can clearly see how a previously great restaurant is being driven to the wall by staff and noticeably worse quality. One thing in advance: Not a single guest ever left the restaurant as a result of our visit. The message written by Apollon that the staff no longer wanted to serve us was also a lie. What is true, however, is that the waiter that evening was insulting, completely overwhelmed and helpless. I have rarely experienced such bitchy behavior from a “waiter”. Absolutely useless for gastronomy and a complete misplacement in a good restaurant. And the food? A year ago it was appetizingly prepared, very tasty and of good quality, but today it is a real disappointment - I'm talking about the grill plates we ordered! The meat is pale, bland and streaked with gristle and fat. The fries were barely cooked, neither crispy nor browned. We don't even need to start with "salad": a collection of leaves and totally tasteless. But that's what I call a total relegation - in 2023 we will still be at the top of the Bundesliga and then relegated to the district class. I thought for a long time whether I should write this review, because the Apollon will definitely counter it with an Asi level and will also be guaranteed to place countless 5-star reviews. This already happened when we were insulted by the staff on this platform. Oh yes, card payment is not possible - these days it is only offered in certain establishments. At least we got proof of the fiasco. Evil is the person who thinks of bad things.

Vor eines Jahr waren wir letztmalig im Apollon, da es in der Vergangenheit immer wieder unangenehme Begebenheiten mit den Geschäftsführer gab. m 02.11.24 wollten wir dem Restaurant eine neue Chance geben und haben einer Tisch reserviert. Das Ergebnis: unglaublich schlecht!!! Das Essen hat merklich an Qualität eingebüßt, das Gyros ist nur weiß und fade abgeschmeckt und von Knorpel und ordentlich Fett durchzogen. Meine Frikadelle auch nur blass-beige von der Farbe und von krümeliger Konsistenz. Der Hammer ist jedoch der nette Kellner!!! Fragen wurde patzig und beleidigend abgewiesen und nicht im Ansatz beantwortet. Als dem Herrn dann nichts mehr einfiel, wurde uns die letzte Getränkebestellung verwehrt. Was ist bloß aus diesem Laden geworden. Es drängt sich der Eindruck auf, dass hier ein Traditions-Restaurant von total unfähigen "Service"-Mitarbeitern systematisch an die Wand gefahren wird.

And if I haven't experienced this surcharge in any restaurant in Munich, Berlin or Hamburg, then I'm experiencing it here at Apollon, said the waiter. After criticism, insults from the waiter and our intoxication follow. Völlig inkompetente, beleidigende, männliche Bedienung, die nicht imstande war, die Frage nach dem Aufpreis von € 10 für eine Metaxasoße anstelle von Zaziki zu beantworten. Es war lediglich eine Nachfrage, da man beim ersten Mal diese Antwort, bekam, dass Metaxasoße 10 € mehr kosten solle. Das Warum bleibt immer noch ein Rätsel. Er meinte dann zu uns, dass wir uns hier wohl nicht wohlfühlen würden, nachdem wir weitere Getränke bestellen wollten. Die Höhe war dann, dass er beleidigend wurde, weil er mit der Situation völlig überfordert war und uns dann mitteilte, er würde uns nicht mehr bedienen. So etwas habe ich noch nie erlebt! Scheinbar geht es der Gastronomie doch nicht so schlecht, dass man sich dieses Verhalten erlauben kann. So etwas spricht sich leider herum. Übrigens war das Essen (Gyros labberig, Pommes, Salat und Zaziki ohne Geschmack) auch nicht der Knüller.

Dishes between 18-21,- It felt like there wasn't enough on the plate. Carelessly prepared. No tomato, cucumber, olive or pepperoni Tzatziki which was too salty for my taste. No onions on the gyro. Last order at 9:20 p.m., since you arrive at 10 p.m (Saturday) closes Well...

Food was great, would love to come back

We were regular customers here because the Greek food tastes really good. But because we are or were now regular customers, we of course noticed this massive price increase. However, charging €6.00 ​​for 150ml of Metaxa sauce made us decide that we would no longer eat here. Of course you have to increase the prices, but that's out of proportion here! Very very very unfortunate!!!

It tasted good but the restaurant is getting old. The dessert menu needs to be reworked.

We've been there several times and it's always been at least OK, but today things went wrong, which can always happen, what matters is how it's solved. One meal was the wrong one, ok, mixed plates always work, no problem. The other food, however, was not edible, even the fries were still partly raw. So that's completely back. Waitress asked, we explained what was wrong with it and it was cleared away. There was no question as to whether you wanted it new or something different, but I didn't care either. The food that was returned was fully charged on the bill. When they pointed out that the food wasn't there and had been returned, the answer was: if you didn't like it, then you don't have to come back. Ok, then like that. No dish was taken off the bill, if that had been the case it would have been ok. And why “last time”? To date, I have never had a meal returned to you or complained. This was the first time today and right now you're just making it worse.

A special dish was prepared for my four-year-old daughter because she wanted to eat pasta, but without meat. We got a place in a small alcove because our little son was with us and it was a little quieter there. We really enjoy eating there, but we also bring food home from time to time. It's always delicious, special requests are fulfilled and everyone is very nice and helpful.

Das beste griechische Restaurant in der Umgebung! Das Souvlaki war immer zart und saftig. Die Wahl zwischen dem Tomatenreis und den Pommes fällt schwer, weil einfach beides schmeckt. Den Zaziki gibt es selbstverständlich zum Gericht dazu und muss nicht extra dazu bestellt werden. Der Vorspeisensalat besteht aus Krautsalat, Eisbergsalat und bisschen Rotkraut mit sehr leckerem Dressig.

Sehr leckeres Essen, Mitarbeiter sind auch freundlich.

Ich war mit meiner Frau an einem Montag im Restaurant. Das Lokal war sehr gut besucht. Eine Reservierung vor allem am Wochenende ist zu Empfehlen. Das Lokal wurde laut Speisekarte im Jahr 1987 eröffnet. Das Mobiliar stammt wahrscheinlich noch aus der Zeit. Das Essen war sehr gut, so wie man es vom Griechen erwartet. Der Preis bewegt sich im oberen Drittel. Das Personal ist freundlich und zuvorkommend. Das Lokal kann ich empfehlen. Leider ist keine Kartenzahlung möglich. (Warum auch immer)

Also das essen wahr leider nicht gut Gyros zu durchwachsen leider relativ kleine Portionen hätte ich keine Vorspeise gehabt wäre ich nicht satt geworden Vorspeise gegrillte Auberginen wahr ne gebackene mein extra Tzatziki wurde vergessen statt metaxa hatte ich ne Sahne Soße mit Pilze und Zwiebel leider sehr wässrig und Dosen Pilze Fleischspieß leider kalt gewesen und gemischter Salat wahr nur bißchen Kopfsalat mit ein auch von Rotkohl das ist für mich kein gemischter Salat Personal top!!! Super nett und sehr höflich und zu vorkommen aber Dadurch das dass essen nicht gut wahr leider einmal nie wieder
