An Chay-Vegan Diner in Leipzig

Everything we ate and drank was very tasty and well prepared. We didn't have to wait long for the food we wanted, so it was great. However, there were a few points that weren't so great. This includes the toilets, which were in a lousy condition. In general everything is very dirty. The menu that the waiter brought us and the existing seat cushions could also have been the appetizer plate, as stained and greasy as they were. The waiter had to make his way into the kitchen between boxes and empty drink crates. All of this casts a shadow on the good cuisine.

Five points for this restaurant. Great recommendation! The dishes are so delicious. Be sure to try the appetizers too. With this meal you can enjoy a little bit of an Asian holiday. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We're not vegan, but we love coming here. Whenever we can manage it, we treat ourselves to the lunch bowl, super tasty and inexpensive!

Small and fine. We were there for lunch with a larger group and were served very quickly. The food also came quickly. Everything was extremely fresh and delicious. The benches aren't particularly comfortable, but I also had the impression that it wasn't designed for long periods of time. It is definitely recommended for vegetarians, vegans and anyone else who likes Asian food.

Even though I love eating meat, An Chay always attracts me. The vegan duck is a dream and definitely a perfect substitute. Anyone who is skeptical about vegan products should try this to be convinced otherwise. Definitely not just for full-blooded vegans!

I have eaten here from time to time at the recommendation and request of friends. I don't particularly attach importance to a vegetarian or vegan diet, but I'm open to trying things. The dishes at An Chay are prepared in such a way that you sometimes don't notice any difference to their meat-based equivalents. That's why I (unfortunately) don't like the vegan duck here any more than the original. Unfortunately, the seitan pieces in my bowl didn't convince me on my last visit either. Otherwise, the food tastes and looks absolutely great and is highly recommended! The menu is compact but still varied. The staff is very friendly and the atmosphere makes you feel comfortable.

Totally delicious. Absolute recommendation. Everything is fresh, crunchy and really a brilliant vegan alternative.

We had dinner here last night and absolutely loved it. The portions are not the largest but one starter will fill you up. As a vegetarian, I love such restaurants with substitute products of the appropriate quality. We had the “duck” and the “beef” and were thrilled. Great taste and price!

Very disappointing given other reviews. Young staff members seemed mostly disinterested but service was ultimately OK. Food a real let down, two noodle dishes were bland and greasy, and if then not hot enough, like it had sat waiting for the on e to be ready. Go to Pholosophy instead.

The place is nicely decorated, but somehow too cramped and uncomfortable and loud. Food tastes good, but doesn't meet my expectations for a balanced meal. My pasta dish consisted of 90% pasta and meat substitutes, almost no vegetables and 3 of the vegetables advertised on the menu were completely missing. So, it's tasty but unfortunately it only has the nutritional value of junk food. Service functional, without any particular friendliness or attention.

Mediocre No. 45 is described as a hearty peanut sauce with rice. Unfortunately it was anything but hearty and the food tasted like vanilla rice pudding. Absolutely not recommended. Maybe other dishes are better.

What can I say, everything was just right. Meat lovers will not be disappointed because the food is very tasty and nothing is missing. At least that was confirmed to me, especially the “duck” was super juicy and crispy. I can recommend it without hesitation

Really excellent. I had a nice soup, some spring rolls and a yuzu tea. The guys are friendly and the wooden furniture resembles the one of a traditional place. Will come back.

The place makes a very unhygienic impression! The menu is dirty and the seat cushions don't look clean either... the table was sticky. I missed the food during my visit and the reviews are a mystery to me. I don't want to see the kitchen in this dining room. Luckily we were able to find a visually and tastefully appealing Vietnamese restaurant a few corners away. So we were able to save the evening. Thanks for nothing and tried water and detergent....

Delicious! I think it's great that you can simply order EVERYTHING on the menu without having to look for or ask about V labeling or allergens. 😁 We had the Surf&Turf (the vegan shrimp are awesome!), Wanderlust (with chicken, also very tasty), How it all began (tofu creamy on the inside, crispy on the outside, the sauce creamy and delicious) and the 4 steamed glories Look nice! Keep it up! 💚

Menus are very worn and stained You have to ask the service to allow you to order Food very sweet (savoury salad bowl tasted like rice pudding) The many positive reviews are misleading. No recommendation

The food tasted good. However, the “beetroot” was just two beetroot spirals and is more of a decoration. Used salad mix from the bag? Long wait until you get the card

The restaurant was a tip from our daughter. We are thrilled and can recommend it. For us, usual, occasional meat eaters, there was no difference to the vegan duck, neither visually nor in terms of taste. Gladly again 😊

Super delicious vegan Asian food. Always worth a visit! If it's too crowded here, just go to the "House of Vegan" across the street. The two restaurants belong together and largely share the menu (the House of Vegan has a few more starters).

It's better not to order via UberEats - I just waited an hour for the order so that it was simply canceled without comment. Nobody answers the phone either. Happy sunday

A beautiful restaurant. The atmosphere was very pleasant, we immediately felt very comfortable and the staff were very friendly. The opportunity to enjoy Asian specialties without having a guilty conscience is wonderful and it simply tasted good (even for me as a "non-vegan"...) ;) Great experience, we'll be happy to come back :)

Rarely have I had such delicious food for the price and it was also vegan. I can also recommend the restaurant to anyone who is not vegan with a clear conscience, as the selection of dishes is great. I was particularly impressed by the dumplings, but the various pasta and bowl dishes were also great. Gladly again👍🏻

Thank you for the super delicious food and the good service. Everything we had on the plates (dumplings)/in the bowls (Don and Goog Life Bowl) was a treat that I can only recommend to every non-vegan. Here everyone will find what they are looking for and get their fill.

Best Vietnamese Food in Leipzig. It was crowded when I visited but staff managed to give us space in 15 min. All loved food.

A nice location. There is vegan Vietnamese cuisine. We had two lunch dishes - a bowl and fried flat rice noodles and spring rolls as starters. Everything was very delicious. The rice cakes with mango ice cream filling and the Vietnamese coffee were also great. We'd love to come back.

We dined here with children and despite all the fears (new kitchen, no meat) everyone was enthusiastic and full. It was really great. The spring rolls and the dumplings are mega. The lemonade is a bit weak The cleanliness definitely needs improvement. Seat cushions are dingy and the toilets are special.

Food: clear 5 stars, tastier food Service: very disappointing, the service was very unfriendly, no greeting when you came in, no smile when contacting the customer, no thank you, no please, no bon appetit. Very rude, distant and a complete lack of social skills. We also ordered a starter, with the information, to share, of course we didn't get a second plate to share. Ambiance: rather uncomfortable, as everything is full of deposit boxes and beer crates. No WiFi for guests is also a negative point. So 5 stars minus 1.5 star for service and 0.5 for ambience.

Very delicious vegan pho and fair prices

Incredibly delicious food and super nice staff!

The waiter thought he was the coolest sock in the village. So cool that after 20 minutes we still couldn't place an order because he preferred to busy himself at the counter with his cell phone. The foul smell wafted from the toilets in the basement all the way up into the guest room. These circumstances caused us to leave again. The vegan shop opposite and An Chay seem to belong together. Everything costs about €1 more there, but at least you won't be ignored as a guest.

Super bad service, the waiter preferred to sit on his cell phone without serving us. And there was a smell coming from the toilet... We didn't even get to eat...

If the waiter is asked about an allergen and is asked to omit that component of the dish if necessary, he should take that seriously. Reacting angrily and then serving it anyway can end up in the hospital for some or, in the worst case scenario, death.

The food is very tasty and the prices are still fair. What's not possible and unfortunately really reduces the enjoyment: a liter of "table water", filled into its own bottle, costs a hefty €7.50. It's no surprise that tap water is of course not provided.

All the dishes are beautiful and delicious. The staff also speaks English and is super helpful. The service is very fast (in 10 minutes everything was on the table). The veg duck is truly a pleasant surprise! Highly recommended!

Very disappointing. The food was laced with glutamate and flavor enhancers. Seitan was inedible. The ambience was ok. The service was like this....no smile or hello. Well...whatever...unfortunately I won't be eating here anymore. Oh yes... the toilet was an impertinence 😬... you could already smell it on the stairs.

A rustically furnished vegan restaurant with a lot of adjustment screws. The service was good, the drinks came quickly, as did the food and successive drinks were well timed. However, starters were served together with the main courses, which took up table space for our large group. The food was good, but the rice was pretty overcooked and no longer had any bite to it, which gave the food a bad aftertaste. The price-performance ratio in the form of sumptuous dishes is right.

The food was very tasty, the meat alternatives (we had duck and beef) had a comparable texture with a pleasant taste. The service was friendly and quick. Unfortunately, as the outside temperature was very low, it was also a bit cold in the dining room, but this shouldn't have been a problem given the fairly normal temperatures and was bearable today. I'll definitely come back.

Naja kurz und schmerzlos, würde ich sagen, dass Preis/Leistung bei Lieferung überhaupt nicht passt. Bestellen würde ich mittlerweile tatsächlich nicht mehr, auch nicht mehr als Notlösung. Die letzten 2 von 3 Bestellungen waren eher unterdurchschnittlich. Vor Ort essen ändert leider nichts am Endergebnis. Alles eher sehr hipp und hübsch präsentiert dabei wird aber am Geschmack gespart. Das An Chay ist ein netter veganer Spot, welcher aber leider geschmacklich nicht wirklich überzeugen kann.

Unglaublich leckeres veganes Essen. Auch das Ambiente ist wirklich nett, man fühlt sich wohl und kann einen gemütlichen Abend verbringen.

Es ist vielleicht eine Frage der Erwartungshaltung: Nach den vielen guten Rezensionen habe ich dort gegessen. Ich fand das Essen gut und wirklich frisch, aber es hat mich nicht begeistert.

Das Restaurant ist schön ei gerichtet und hat ein tolles Ambiente. Das Essen war an sich super lecker, jedoch waren ausgerechnet die veganen Zutaten (sowohl die Saitan Ente, wie auch der Tofu) eher mäßig im Geschmack. Meine Erwartung war, dass genau diese in einem veganen Restaurant besser schmecken als in einem 'normalen', weshalb ich enttäuscht war. Der Tofu war innen noch irgendwie wabbelig und die Saitan Ente war vom Gefühl im Mund eher wie Gummi. Ansonsten war es nichtsdestotrotz sehr lecker.

Ich fand das vegane Rindfleisch super. Toll gewürzt, gute Struktur und Konsistenz. Netter Service.

Ich bestelle regelmäßig in diesem Restaurant, vor allem die vegane Ente, aber muss sagen, dass sie abgebaut haben. Damals war nichts zu bemängeln aber mittlerweile reicht die Soße kaum noch für das ganze Gericht, ist auch wässriger und weniger schmackhaft geworden. Die Ente ist nicht mehr so knusprig gebraten wie sonst und es gibt keine Shiitake Pilze mehr in dem Gericht was für mich neben der Ente immer ein weiteres schmackhaftes Highlight war. Die Frühlingsrollen finde ich auch nicht so besonders. Da schmecken mir die typisch vegetarischen Mini-Frühlingsrollen die man sonst kennt besser. Ich kaufe die Ente weiterhin, vermisse jedoch trotzdem die Qualität von damals. Welche Gerichte ich neben der Ente sonst noch mag: Tanzwunder, Soup Wan Tan (super lecker wenn man es leichter mag!!!)

Sehr leckeres Essen. Schneller, aber nicht sehr aufmerksamer Service. Ab 18 Uhr wird es sehr voll und auch etwas eng, da die Tische nah beieinander stehen. Alles in allem ein gutes Restaurant.

So ein Glückstreffer! Veganen Ente, Nr 52, war MEGA! Extrem lecker und das sage ich sehr selten, wirklich. Ein neuer Geschmack, nicht was man schon mal gegessen hat und dann auch noch frisch knackig schöner Optik....was will man noch mehr... Auch noch nette Bedienung und ziemlich schnell auf den Tisch serviert, also für mich ein absoluten Must für Feinschmecker 👌🏽 und bewusst lebenden Menschen 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽

Nichts geht über die vegane Ente hier! Ist aber leider für regelmäßige Besuche etwas zu teuer.

Für mich war es die erste Erfahrung mit veganem Essen. Ich hätte sogar auf die vegane Ente verzichten können, da der Rest sehr lecker war. Die Kombination mit Mango hat mir sehr gut geschmeckt. Als liebender Fleischesser fehlte mir der tatsächliche Geschmack, aber das ist subjektiv. Es hat geschmeckt und das war wichtig. Danke dafür

Fantastic, I went for one of the 'duck' dishes and it was a very generous plateful, with different flavours and I really liked the drizzled sauce.

I wish I had something like An Chay in the city I live in. All their sauces are made in house and are some of the best I have had. The udon noodle stir fry I had in retrospect happened to be one of the server's favorites. Everything was spectacular and I can highly recommend this place to anyone looking for vegan asian food.
