We visited here for the first time on the recommendation of a good friend and can only warmly recommend the restaurant. The staff are friendly and attentive. Very good, tasty Asian food. A good selection, but be careful, if you're hungry you'll want to order everything! I had the roasted avocado for starters and could have been smashed. The fried rice for the main course was also very tasty. The mate ice cream at the end was the icing on the cake. You could really taste the mate tea. My husband had miso soup, and for the main course, teriyaki/duck; we shared the ice cream. He was just as pleasantly surprised. We are very impressed and will definitely come back.

Ami is an excellent restaurant for sushi and other Asian dishes. I deliberately say "Asian" because the cuisine here is inspired by several Asian countries – not just Japan. I was particularly impressed by the wide selection of vegetarian options. The sushi with pumpkin and asparagus was a real highlight and tasted excellent. The service was fast, attentive, and very friendly – ​​we felt completely at home. The three of us ordered kimchi, wakame, summer rolls, and edamame as appetizers, along with a generous selection of sushi for the main course and mochi ice cream and sesame balls for dessert. With a drink each, our bill came to around €140. The price is rather high, but reasonable for what we had. We were satisfied and had a lovely evening.

I don't understand the good reviews. The food is okay, but not good, and the prices are way too high! I had fried noodles with shrimp, but the portion was quite small. The shrimp had no taste, and €18 for that is a joke! You can get much better food at the Asian restaurant by the train station for a third of the price!

Small, a bit cramped and usually full. However, you will be served very quickly here, which is obviously part of the concept here. You can easily finish here in an hour and have soup, main course and dessert. You still don't feel rushed because everything just happens very quickly. My favorite sushi shop in Dortmund. I come here regularly and always order sushi. The quality is very good and the food is always presented very attractively. There was even a small table fireworks display for my birthday. The staff is neutral and quick. The food is also served quickly. I can highly recommend it. We were really looking forward to the food and had high expectations based on all the reviews. We sat by the window where it was really cold. Unfortunately the food wasn't warm either. The chicken was frozen, which is something I don't know from this type of restaurant. The pieces of vegetables were so huge and no knives at the table. Then two components were forgotten in the sushi, which I don't think is a bad thing. But then telling myself that you can't understand whether it was there was too much for me. The service at the counter was really very nice, so that's definitely a plus point. We know many "Asian Fusion" restaurants but unfortunately this one is at the bottom of our list.

We ordered the Teriyaki Special, Ami’s Curry with Duck and Pho. Everything was perfectly seasoned and very aromatic. When I asked for help with holding my chopsticks, I was immediately happy to help. It was well attended so I would definitely recommend a reservation. Overall our experience was very, very good and we will definitely come back.

It would be better to ask guests in advance if they would like this sauce or add it separately like soy sauce. Not everyone likes such an intense, very sweet taste. Our bad experience happened last year when we reserved a table for our birthday. Sushi with a fog effect was requested. Unfortunately we only got one sparkler. The sushi was good. With good hopes, we wanted to give the restaurant a second chance this year. We were regular customers at the previous sushi owner (Fukuoka) and actually liked the small shop and the cozy atmosphere. This time we had a table for two and the seating was so tight that we had no space and were literally sitting back to back with other guests. This physical contact was extremely unpleasant. Aside from the lack of privacy, you also want to be able to have a conversation without being disturbed. In terms of price and quality, the sushi was quite good and prepared really quickly. The waitresses are friendly & attentive. Unfortunately, we were unable to enjoy our visit to the restaurant for the reasons mentioned above. We simply expect a certain level of privacy. Therefore, unfortunately, this was the last visit.
