American Sportsbar & Restaurant in Köln

Burgers and service were great, but as soon as you go downstairs to the restroom, it's like entering a different world. The toilets are completely unkempt, covered in stickers, and many things are broken; even the faucet was lying in the sink and didn't work.

The place is nice, would be perfect if the food wasn’t so bad and the service could be a little more friendly (even though I already knew Germans are not known for being friendly). We went on a Monday evening and it was easy to get a table. To be fair the waitress was alone so we were not expecting her to be super fast serving us and the timing wasn’t bad. Now the food was meh. 🫤 We got Super Bowl Nachos (it’s very okay if you don’t have a good reference of amazing nachos). The other nachos (just chips and salsa) were barely okay. Cheeseburger for the kids to split was fine for them (they’re not judgmental yet). Spare ribs with chicken wings and corn on the cob was bleh. We ate some because we were really hungry otherwise we would just leave it. As Americans, we expect more of an American sports bar for food quality. Even for junk food it could be better.

The food was like fast food, but much, much more expensive. Maybe for drinks and watching sports, but definitely not for eating.

Reservation at Joe Champs – A Disaster of the Highest Order! When you make a reservation at Joe Champs American Sportsbar & Restaurant, you expect an evening of sports, drinks, and good food. What you get is apparently a lesson in gastronomic incompetence and an absolute disgrace of service. Sitting at a table for 45 minutes at your reserved time and not even being able to order a glass of water isn't "stressful," it's a complete organizational failure. Having to beg three different servers seven times – you don't feel like a guest, but like a supplicant disturbing the staff in their blithely relaxed inactivity. The height of absurdity: When, in utter desperation, you go to the bar yourself to order the bare minimum – a drink – you're turned away with the explanation that you have a reservation and must be served at your table. This isn't just ridiculous, it's an active mockery of the customer. The staff's behavior is clear: We know we should be serving you, but we're not – and even if you try to make our job easier, we'll still turn you away. In short: The reservation wasn't just a waste of time; it was the starting point for an hour of wasted time. The staff doesn't act like service personnel, but like an uncoordinated group of stand-ins. Never again! Great and wonderful F1 watched.

Nice sports bar with friendly staff. The food was excellent. I had a smashed burger with fries. Everything was fresh and delicious. I thought €11.90 for the burger without fries was fair.

Two waiters for the entire, completely packed restaurant during football broadcasts is simply not enough. No wonder everything takes so long.

Unfortunately, the service was very overwhelmed. After waiting 30 minutes to place our order, it took another 30 minutes just to get two drinks. The food (spare ribs) was the ultimate disappointment; they were cold and tasted like a frozen product. The Caesar salad was quite okay. The garlic bread, unfortunately, didn't contain any garlic. A real shame.

Wow, actually not used to the rings, although it was nice when we came in, the table was cleared but then it started, the order wasn't taken at first, but after this had happened after half an hour, we waited again, the table next to us had ordered shortly before and then got drinks and food, we hadn't had anything yet, we asked nicely if they had forgotten us, well, we waited again, the drinks and food came, well, the salad looked good and probably tasted good too, the spare ribs were only lukewarm, I think they had warmed them up quickly, so nothing crispy, the marinade was also as if it had just come out of the packaging, not really tasty, the service was a bit overloaded.

If you like sports, beer and fast food, this is the place for you ☺️

Before a concert, we simply asked if 'the table was free.' The only response was a rude 'No!' and a finger-wagging. No intention of helping us in any way, so we went straight to where they felt welcome :-)

A good place to watch football. Fair prices, very good service. We had a problem with the flavor of a dessert, but the waiter immediately found a solution and was very helpful. I highly recommend this place if you're looking for a good kolsch and a sports games.

Visiting Cologne from Hamburg! Saw the HSV-St. Pauli game there yesterday! Called ahead and asked, and they were very helpful – so we went! The place was packed, the food was delicious, and in addition to the excellent cuisine, the waitress Matrizia deserves a special mention. She was all by herself – tapping, serving, and taking the cash – a tremendous job, but not enough for a place like this on a weekend. She mastered it and was always quick and friendly throughout the place. Full marks, but shoutouts to the manager of Joe Champs – you need to react and provide support before another employee like that falls victim to a lack of time.

The food is good and the decoration as well but the waitress added a 10% tip without asking on our bill (told us after payment) which is not honest

Good place for a drink. We asked the barman to make a horrible shot for our stag, he did a great job with a shot of tobasco and vodka.

We were here shortly before a performance at the Lanxess Arena. Two of four orders were delivered incorrectly, but at no extra charge. The drinks weren't tasty (Coke, Sprite, iced tea); they just tasted like old ice. For a quick snack or even a proper meal, there are many better options nearby for the same type of food.

Unfortunately, disappointing – we won't be back. We waited 1.5 hours for our food (cheeseburger with fries). Despite repeated inquiries, we were repeatedly told the food would be ready "in 5 minutes." When it finally arrived, a burger was missing. The server said the missing burger would be served in 15 minutes – we subsequently canceled it. When paying, they accidentally included our cell phone, which didn't exactly improve the experience. Unfortunately, the burgers didn't taste great either. Conclusion: We won't be back and won't recommend the restaurant to anyone.

Maya was the best personality in the store

The decor is partly reminiscent of an American sports bar in the USA. Unfortunately, there's little authentic American food and drinks. No US beers or soft drinks (root beer, etc.). The TV shows the run-of-the-mill Sky Sports news instead of US sports, tennis, or similar. They could do more. The service was very friendly and helpful, though. The food was good too. It just doesn't really have that US sports bar feel.

The waitress is extremely disrespectful and has a disgusting attitude toward immigrants. They should reconsider hiring new staff.

I can't even judge the service, as I wasn't even invited to sit down in the establishment. Being a tourist in Cologne and speaking no German, I simply asked if the waitress spoke English. She curtly replied "no" and then royally ignored me. Not very nice...

A really incredibly great restaurant The service is always super friendly and accommodating The food is a 10 out of 10 (spare ribs) And the ambience is great outside, especially when the weather is good. The prices are great, especially for today's times. I can highly recommend the restaurant.

We were there with a small group of people on Thursday April 17th to watch ice hockey. After the first third we left because the service couldn't keep up. The shop was very busy and there was only one person in service and one in the kitchen. Then the TVs didn't work. The employees were not at fault, but on a day like this, more staff must be planned behind the counter and in front of the counter. It's a shame, we were looking forward to a nice evening.

We ordered tasty burgers with fries and salad on the side. The salad was a bit small. That's why only 4 stars. The service was great, friendly and on the ball. The atmosphere was very pleasant. Would love to come back.

Only fried, dry chicken wings were weak in taste. When asked, it was actually supposed to be buffalo wings. The burger was ok, but fully cooked. The spare ribs were basically inedible. No spices, no ice cream and really dry. Chili Con Carne was OK. I won't visit the store again. He certainly lives from the situation

The waitress didn't feel like removing the chains from the outdoor seating outside when the weather was nice. There was nothing going on in the restaurant itself, which was a real shame!

We were there for the Superbowl and turned night into day. Really cool event with good food and drink and even better service. We'll be there again next time, maybe with Superbowl promotions like a candy bar or a nacho plate with cheese/guacamole!?

We stopped here before a concert at the LANXESS ARENA. It was just a matter of eating a little something. We sat outside and the service was very friendly. The food took a while, but the quality wasn't that bad. The temperature could have been a little higher. The taste and size of the portions were okay. Just a normal sports bar. There is definitely delicious Guinness here. In the end we were very satisfied and watched a nice concert afterwards.

Very good sports bar with very good connections in Cologne-Deutz. Both the S Bahn and the tram are in the immediate vicinity. The sports bar is directly opposite the Lanxess Arena. Unfortunately, it sometimes took a long time for the service to arrive and the glasses remained empty for quite a long time. At the beginning, the first drink only came after 20 minutes, which in my opinion was clearly too long. Otherwise the waitresses were friendly. We only ate baked nachos, but they were very tasty. The burgers at the next table also looked very good.

We were there on October 2nd. Before a concert at the Carlswerk with 6 people there as a break, the ambience was ok, 4 stars. The food was also okay, considering the conditions. The service wasn't good, hence only 1 star. We weren't served for a long time, then someone's food was forgotten when they ordered, and the offer to serve it couldn't be accepted due to the already long waiting time. One person in our group, who doesn't quite fit the 90-60-90 scale, was given a "very flippant/cheeky" comment from the "waiter" regarding her order (salad). If the company continues to file a complaint regarding the review (after 6 months), you should think about possibly addressing other points (staff/service) instead of erasing the negative.

Great store, great food, great service

Great service and delicious Kölsch, unfortunately no Strombow cider. Espresso is made with a portafilter machine and not a fully automatic machine, super tasty. Service is top and very hard. We will be back.

It was full, the service was annoyed and unfriendly. The food was so-so, we are used to much better at Champs. We waited a very long time for the food. The young man who was with us at the end was very friendly.

The food is ok, enough TV and good ambience. Unfortunately the staff is very unfriendly and doesn't serve you properly. Despite making reservations, we were always put in the worst seats, where we couldn't really watch the football game, while other "non-football fans" had the perfect view of the screen. Although other tables were free, we were not allowed to move because they were supposedly reserved. Nobody was placed there until the end. It's a shame, with such a good interior design, that such incompetent staff work there. Don't do this to yourself until the staff is refreshed!

Good food, enough TVs and a good ambience are of no use if the service is simply unfriendly. We were ignored several times at our table despite empty glasses, and in the end she wasn't at our table for over an hour. There wasn't even a "thank you" or "goodbye" when paying.

The food was very bad. Everything tasted like packaged ready-made ingredients. Tried to make a reservation by phone, but unfortunately no one answered the phone. Did this online, after 4 error messages it worked. The website also feels like it hasn't been updated since 1990. When we arrived, nobody knew anything about us. We also stood at the front for 5 minutes and had to go to the chatting waiters ourselves to say that we had made a reservation. Most of the waiters were friendly. Unfortunately the main waitress wasn't. Seemed more annoyed. It used to be a good place to watch sports, eat and hang out. We left very quickly because the food was bad and the waitress made us feel unwanted. The toilets are run down and look like an anarchist bar. Upstairs it looks like a nice little sports bar. If the benches and chairs were better and more comfortable they would have gotten 4 stars. In short: I shouldn't give any stars for the food. The price is also unjustified. The service gets one, for the two friendly waiters, but the lady who served us destroyed all the other stars. Also that nobody knew anything about us. Only the ambience is okay.

Klassische Sports Bar zum Fußball schauen mit wenig Herz.

Sehr gutes Restaurant/Bar/Kneipe. Top Personal. Leckeres essen & Getränke. Es ist im Amerikanischen Stil aufgebaut. Grosse Essensportion. Vorher nichts essen. Es hängen an einigen Stellen an den Wänden Monitore. Da wird sehr viel Amerikanischer Sport gezeigt. Eishockey , Baseball , Football , Basketball. Das ein oder vereinzelte Fußballspiel. Auch die ein oder andere Sportart. Es gibt auch im Kellerbereich. Saubere getrennte WCs. Das Joe Camps liegt ca. 10 Minuten zu Fuß. Vom Bahnhof Köln - Deutz ( Haupteingang ) Ottoplatz entfernt. Liegt direkt an der Strassenbahnhaltestelle Arena/Deutz. Auf der anderen Seite der Strassenbahnhaltestelle. Geht es hoch zur Lanxessarena. Wer mit dem Auto kommt. Die kostenpflichtigen Arena Parkhäuser benutzen. Autoparkplatzsuche ist in jeder Stadt sonst Glücksache. Fahrräder kann man in der Nähe vom Joe Champs hinstellen & abschließen. Das Joe Champs bietet auch an. Für viele Möglichkeiten zu buchen. Z.b. Geburtstag , Hochzeit , Firmenfeier. Frühzeitig buchen. Sehr zu empfehlen.

Die einzige American Sportsbar auf dieser Welt, bei der du angeschaut wirst wie ein Auto, auf die Nachfrage, ob gleich Football läuft. Nach kurzer Erklärung wurde nur mit „wir sind heute sowieso voll“ geantwortet. Zu dem Zeitpunkt saß kein einziger Gast in Laden. Es war 15 Uhr. Ok sorry…

Wir waren zu sechst da, davon haben Vier Essen bestellt und nur Drei haben ihr Essen, nach 50min und wiederholtem nachfragen bekommen. Das fehlende Essen, haben wir dann aus zeitlichen Gründen wieder abbestellt. Der Service war teilweise sehr frech, gegenüber einer unserer Freundinnen... Somit leider nicht zu empfehlen....

Allein für die super sympathische Bedienung sind 5 Sterne eigentlich noch zu wenig. Wenn ich könnte würde ich mehr vergeben. Ein großes Lob und dickes Danke an Daniela für deinen wunderbaren Service. Essen war natürlich auch super lecker! Komme gerne wieder.

Wir wurden nach 20 Minuten leider immer noch nicht bedient und sind wieder gegangen. Leider wurden unsere Kontaktversuche konsequent ignoriert. Schade! Tolle Location mit viel Potential. Dann wirds halt der Mexikaner auf der Ecke.

Essen völlig überteuert. 12.90€ für einen Mini-Cheeseburger. Beilagen müssen extra bezahlt werden. Für eine handvoll Pommes 3,50€ ist schon, naja...! Die Süßkartoffel-Pommes waren aber richtig lecker.

Eine top Sportsbar und sehr leckere Burger sowie Krombacher alkoholfreies Bier

Super nettes Personal die sehr kulant und höflich agieren, Essen war sehr sehr gut, Service top. Leider hat die Küche 2 von 5 Essen vergessen, es war auch verdammt viel los. Unser vergessenes Esseb wurden sofort als wir nachgefragt haben, nachgeliefert und als Mitnahme verpackt, da wir leider gehen mussten. Für uns zwar total blöd gewesen, weil wir nicht zusammen essen konnten, aber wir kommen wieder mit viel mehr Zeit, um dieses tolles Restaurant zu genießen.

Sehr laut, zu viele TV ohne Ton, Essen und Preise gut, Service arbeitet am Limit, aber top!

Waren heute zu dritt dort, um nach der Messe was zu essen und Fußball zu schauen. Fußball-Stream ging nicht, wohl dem Unwetter geschuldet, aber komischerweise gab es mehrere Gäste, die es dann auf dem Handy geschaut haben. Essen und trinken kann ich nicht bewerten, da wir eine halbe Stunde gewartet haben und der Kellner immer wieder an den Nachbartischen bedient hat, aber bei uns noch nicht mal eine Getränkebestellung aufgenommen hat. Nach 35 Minuten sind wir dann gegangen. So geht Gastronomie auf jeden Fall nicht...
