Ambrosia in Hameln

Since our original "host" was closed due to illness and we weren't informed, we ended up at Ambrosia by chance. And that was a good thing. We were seated with 10 people without a reservation, and we were immediately taken care of very well. The salad buffet was fantastic and delicious. The food was plentiful and delicious. The service had a bit of a crude sense of humor, but without any pain. To the eternal critics: what goes around comes around. We went back the next evening and didn't regret it. It felt like we were there every week. If we're in the area again, we'll be back!

Very good food and very good service. Pizza, lasagna, or fish soup, everything was very tasty and the portions were very generous. Vassili is the forest where you shout. If you treat the chef and staff with respect, Vassili will love you as a guest. If guests behave like Count Koks, Vassili will show them the boundaries.

I come from Hameln and this restaurant is the best Greek restaurant in Hameln, you have to honestly say the quality shows and a very nice boss and funny always and the best of all the best are the pizzas

The food was delicious, the portions more than adequate. The price/performance ratio was also good.

The menu is very extensive, and the food is good, but not outstanding. The proprietor is the star, and not everyone's cup of tea. His gruff manner suits this establishment. His apparently recurring trick with the non-functioning debit card machine is odd.

Top food, friendly service, gladly again

The food was delicious, but unfortunately, I wasn't full. The manager's comments became abusive and even insulting towards the end. Unfortunately, the restaurant manager isn't as relaxed as he initially seemed. ☹️ No go!

Unfortunately, the pizza was terrible. The bottom was still doughy in several places, and the top looked good. When I paid, I was charged for a dish that was more expensive than the one I had eaten. When I pointed this out, the owner said that Dutch people complain. In my opinion, these are three minor quibbles, but the beer tasted fine. That's a good thing.

Super delicious food and drinks, staff friendly and quick, would definitely come back.

Never had such an entertaining evening. Despite the very generous portions, one guest wasn't satisfied. The owner immediately refilled the gyro plate free of charge. The owner has a keen sense of humor. Anyone with a bad temper or a sensitive personality is in the wrong place. Anyone with a zest for life and a taste for witty jokes is in the best hands here. You have to like the humor of the place, but I don't like the fact that they don't accept card payments. Apparently, the battery is dead... In our opinion, the price-performance ratio isn't good. We don't think 6 rings of calamari with a little bit of vegetables for €24 is justified.

The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere. You walk in and are immediately greeted in a friendly manner. The owner of the restaurant is incredibly friendly; he always asks how you're doing. He asks what you'd like to drink and helps wherever he can. The food is incredibly delicious; everything is freshly prepared and served quickly. My husband and I highly recommend the restaurant. We love it there. You can also rent an apartment through altstadtperle, so you can stay there and enjoy a nice meal. We highly recommend it. We're always happy to come back.

Wir waren am Donnerstag gegen 17.30 Uhr die ersten Gäste und sind nicht unbedingt freundlich vom Chef empfangen worden. Die Einrichtung des Restaurants ist Geschmacksache, nicht so das Essen. Ich hatte mir Gyros mit Bifteki und Tomatenreis, meine Frau eine Pizza bestellt. Die Pizza war flach, trocken und verliert gegen jede Fertigpizza. Mein Gyros war furztrocken- wahrscheinlich vom Vortag- und schmeckte, genauso wie das Bifteki überhaupt nicht. Als Dip gab es Tomatenmark !!! dazu. Ich habe den halber Teller zurückgehen lassen und mich beim Chef beschwert, aber das schien er schon zu kennen. Uns tun die 44 € für diese "Essen" wirklich leid ! Absolutes No-Go!

We ate at this restaurant in Hameln. Everything was fine, but the owner was borderline...his self-praise for his food, as well as his service and his inappropriate, stupid comments, some of which were personal. But some people are just very full of themselves...my rating: very unprofessional in their treatment of guests.

I've been a regular at Ambrosia for a good twenty years. Vasili is a true expert. He places great emphasis on quality. The meat, whether steak, lamb, or beef, is served with an excellent selection at the salad buffet, which is prepared fresh daily. I'd be happy to return.

Bad food at inflated prices. The spaghetti frutti di mare for €23 was inedible. The frutti di mare was missing and they only served a cream sauce with no seasoning. The chef was pushy and too loud. The main courses were served to us while we were still having our appetizers. Once and never again

We are absolutely thrilled 😍 A really great service. Nice old restaurant with charm. As a starter there was garlic bread with tzatziki - it was simply really tasty. And the main course didn't disappoint either. Quality is very good. And prices are absolutely justified.

When we travel to Germany from Canada we always try and stop here. The food is great and the owner has a great sense of humour. He to this day gives off a few jabs about me being a vegetarian but gives my wife a free pass. We missed his daughter this trip but maybe next year she’ll be around. Because of my celiac disease, eating out is always a bit tricky. But luckily, the owner and chef are knowledgeable about gluten-containing foods and the risk of contamination, as well as what to consider when preparing gluten-free meals. This makes me and other celiacs very happy, and that's what makes a professional! Great! THANK YOU! They're also honest and say they can't offer gluten-free pasta, pizza, or fries, but there are numerous other alternatives. If you're a celiac and want Greek food, you're in good hands here. When you walk into the restaurant, you're immediately greeted with a lighthearted joke from the owner, and his sense of humor accompanies you throughout this cozy and friendly establishment. The background music is also pleasant and makes you dream of a wonderful vacation in the south; especially on a rainy, cold winter day, you can indulge all your senses in this restaurant. My husband and I will definitely stop by again the next time we visit Hameln. We're excited to hear what stories the host will tell us next time. The value for money is also good. Our visit there was a complete disappointment. There were hardly any things that could be described as positive. We made a reservation there with a group of about 20 people. We were put in a separate room that didn't have a great atmosphere. We sat so close together that it was almost impossible to eat. The mirrors at both ends of the room (the most noticeable decoration) looked very dirty, and there was no music. We sat there for over 20 minutes without our drink orders being taken. This continued throughout the entire evening. To make matters worse, our previously communicated food preferences were changed. So, planning was out of the question for the time being. After we ordered, we received our dishes very slowly. Some were ready before others received their food. On top of that, some dishes weren't served at all, and we had to ask for them several times before they were served. The dishes varied in quality. Some pizzas were practically burnt (see photo) and no longer edible. Other dishes were okay. Hence, 2 stars. Now let's get to the worst part: the service. The waiter/owner had a difficult sense of humor and made very difficult comments. We had a German-Turkish man with us, who had to listen to many negative comments about Turks. This was uncalled for. A colleague was called a disaster because she had stacked the empty dishes incorrectly. Furthermore, all orders were received negatively because, quote: *There would be 70 other people there too.* At some point, you just didn't feel like ordering anything anymore. In the end, even tips were added to the bill without being asked. All in all, you can say that the restaurant was too full for the available staff. The food also suggests that the kitchen was understaffed. In summary, I can only advise you not to go there (at the moment).

We were expecting a nice meal on Boxing Day, but instead we were given a very, very meager "Christmas menu" that we knew nothing about. There were two dishes for vegetarians that you also have to like. After we explained our expectations, the very unfriendly boss came over and told us not to tell him how to do his job. The boss doesn't know how to handle criticism. As we were about to leave, a waitress yelled a rude "Bye-bye." The boss really needs to get a grip on himself and start behaving sensibly. Simply unfriendly, arrogant, and unreasonable.

Unfortunately, the menu here doesn't get bigger at Christmas, but rather significantly smaller. After we spoke to the manager, he was unfortunately very unprofessional and rude and said we should have asked if the correct menu was valid. He also said it was sad that we wanted to tell him how to do his job. We then left; we'd already had bad experiences with the manager in the past.

You're not allowed to order a small portion if you're a little hungry. That old man is very rude. No way.

The place is now on our blacklist. We wanted to go there for the second time. Sunday evening, around 8 p.m. As always, the loudest refrigerator in the northern hemisphere greeted us in the entrance area on the right. Only one table at the far end of the beautifully decorated restaurant was occupied. With a gesture to the kitchen, we made ourselves known, and the manager came over. When we asked for a table, he ironically replied that they were fully booked and assigned us one. When we objected that we wanted to sit further away from the still clearly audible refrigerator in the entrance area, he simply asked if we could see a refrigerator at the table he had assigned us. We argued again, but he briskly rejected our request and replied that we should sit wherever he sat us, otherwise we should leave. We happily did so immediately. The manager really needs to get a grip on himself and start behaving in a customer-oriented manner. Simply unfriendly, arrogant, and uncooperative. The store is now on our blacklist.

I have nothing to complain about. The food was really damn tasty, we didn't have to wait long and there was nothing else to complain about. The prices are absolutely reasonable. If you have something to complain about here, you might want to think about what you expect for your money. I could expect high-quality and tasty food, and I'm willing to pay more for it than for a Happy Metal. The landlord is friendly and approaches the guests. By the way, understanding a little humor doesn't hurt anyone ;)

They brought us two menus, one in German and one in English. We were told that the prices are from the German catalog and not the English one. The price difference of €10 on the same product! We're getting over this! The food was average. I ordered another dish and the owner came and says I'll bring you something else you've never had before! As if he knew what I have and what I haven't tried! We will overcome this too! When my bill came, it said the drinks were served and without bringing me a receipt, he asked me for €160 I asked him to pay by card and he says no. While on the door was the sign to pay by card! Go get cash he says and come. I asked him for a receipt to pay and he brought me a sheet of notebook with 2 prices 140 + 100 = €240 If you want a receipt he tells me you will pay VAT. The man is completely rude and insolent! The situation is a comedy! Of course I don't recommend it! The store has nothing to do with Greece!

We were warmly welcomed and our dog was also welcome! Nice ambience! One hopes for a good meal! None!!! The Italian starter plate (although it was half Greek) gave us hope! But then the pizza! ! The dough tasted like ready-made dough from the refrigerator section in the supermarket! My tagliatelle with gorgonzola was just cream with a hint of gorgonzola and completely tasteless! With a little salt I was able to eat half of them! The prices are also quite high for this bad food! When we wanted to pay by card, the boss said that wasn't possible, even though it was written big on the door! The internet would be so bad😏 So we scraped together our cash and were then able to pay! Once and never again!!!!!

We were disappointed with plain spaghetti cabonara.

The ambience is great and the service is good. The gyro was the cheapest ready-made meat from the pan. The bifteki was okay but quite dry. In general, people seem to work almost exclusively with finished products. Two of our group had stomach pains after eating. I have rarely eaten such bad Greek food.

Probably some of the best Italian and Greek cuisine you can find in Hamelin. The range of food on offer matches the great ambience, the friendly service and the great chef. These are absolutely top class, at quite moderate prices. Although we are not from Hameln, but stay there often, we are now regular guests. We look forward to every visit to the restaurant and our grandchild always looks forward to the "Best Schnitzel in the World" from the children's menu. Kind regards to Vasilli from Celle.

The worst pizza I've ever eaten. Sorry, but the frozen pizza from the supermarket is a gourmet experience.

The food is OK when you get it. It took 1.5 hours. There was also an item on the invoice that we would have liked, but didn't get.

Unfortunately, for the second time in a row, the food wasn't fresh. We were there with 12 people and none of them had a good word to say about food, including stomach pain, etc. We've been there often but in the last two years the quality of the food has unfortunately completely declined and the last two visits just weren't nice. We used to enjoy eating there but won't be visiting the restaurant again in the future.

After a long time I would like to give a well-deserved 5 star review based on our visit during a camping trip with friends in Hamelin. While looking for a restaurant, we came across a well-rated restaurant within walking distance. Our surprise was great when we discovered that the menu offered both Italian and Greek dishes. Despite some concerns about this combination, we decided to visit Ambrosia. We had reserved a table and came with a group of six adults and five children (we had ordered for six children). We received a warm welcome and a suitably prepared table awaited us. Particularly impressive was the waiter who appeared to be the boss and took the order without taking notes. Nevertheless, he managed to serve everything precisely as we ordered it. He even asked the kitchen if he had forgotten anything, as he had only written down eleven dishes instead of the twelve reserved. The food came quickly and was consistently excellent. The atmosphere was pleasant and we were able to easily order an additional dish for our twelfth guest, which was perfectly ready when we were ready to pay. Overall, it was a very successful evening that I unreservedly recommend. Personally, I would like to eat there more often, but since I am only in the area on weekends, this is unfortunately not possible for me.

That was the famous sentence with x. Two employees are sick, according to boss Vassili. However, he didn't do himself any favors with the completely overwhelmed temporary help. It took forever, the steak was ok at best, salt, pepper, cutlery and napkins were only available upon request. And the answer to my criticism from the boss was that I should please not come again. I am well aware of his arrogance and resistance to criticism; I've been able to handle it so far. But today was simply over the top. To make matters worse, the wine that he gave us as a way of making up for us was then found on the bill. So you must have lost one or two more customers, good man.

Wir waren letzten Samstag am frühen Abend in diesem Lokal. Der Chef bediente uns persönlich. Meinen Mann, unfreiwilliger Glatzenträger, betitelte er als ungehobelten Glatzkopf, weil solche Leute bekanntermaßen rabiat seien😳 Das Essen wurde nach einer geschlagenen Stunde serviert. Mein Rigatoni am forno war gänzlich ungewürzt, die Tortellini meines Mannes waren teilweise knochenhart bis überkocht und völlig versalzen. Ein Alster 0,3 l würde es nicht geben, obwohl es in der Karte aufgeführt wurde. Es gäbe nur große Getränke… Als wir letztendlich um die Rechnung baten und diese nach einer weiteren halben Stunde nochmals lauter forderten, ging der Chef noch immer nicht auf unseren Wunsch ein und setzte sich an einen 2er-Tisch neben uns und rauchte genüsslich seine stinkende Zigarre. Dieser Mann ist der totale Ignorant, unverschämt und denkt, er ist der Größte! Wir kommen aus Thüringen in der Nähe von Erfurt und ein solches Verhalten haben wir in über 50 Jahren noch nicht erleben müssen.

Unterirdisch. Leider. Zwei Mitarbeiterinnen sind, laut Chef, krank. Das tut mir leid. Aber mit der Aushilfe hat er sich keinen Gefallen getan. Das Essen war bestenfalls ok, alles andere nicht.

First the positive: A very nice and cheerful boss welcomes the guests. According to his own statements, he has Italian-Greek parents. The menu is designed accordingly. The ambience in a well-kept half-timbered house is dignified inside. Outside you sit under large umbrellas in the middle of Hameln's old town. My Diavolo pizza had good toppings, but too much cheese. But that's a matter of taste. The dough was too thick for my taste, not baked well enough and not even crispy on the edges. My companion had gnocchi with salmon. Very tasty prepared. Plus a salad from the buffet, which was unfortunately pretty empty by 8:30 p.m. We were served by a young lady. The boss later emphasized that she had been working there reliably for seven years. Unfortunately, our experience was different. Attention and friendliness could be increased. The advice to help yourself to the salad buffet only came when the gnocchi had already been served and was then slowly getting cold. Drink orders were not filled correctly. And a missing aquavit was later delivered with a snarky remark instead of an apology. The lady seemed visibly annoyed. When we paid, we described the situation to the boss and he thanked us for his honesty. It was probably an exception - the service was overloaded. Ok, that can happen, but we were probably unlucky. The boss gave us two aquavits on the house. All in all, a mixed experience that would certainly have been much more pleasant with attentive and friendly service.

Great, attentive service. The food was excellent and hot. Salad bar has a very good selection, everything fresh, really tasty. . 3 different dressings to choose from. We'll be back. There are also places to sit outside.

Unfriendly boss, really embarrassing. After my husband took 2 extra napkins with him when he got the salad from the buffet, the boss spoke to him in a very unfriendly manner, saying that if the inspection came and he would have spent more napkin than food he would have to justify himself. When we asked if we liked it, the boss told my husband that he was surprised that HE liked it. Since we didn't feel quite as comfortable, there wasn't much tip either, so the question then came to where we came from. When we said where, the answer was, "That's why we're so arrogant and snooty." Average food, small portions. Price/performance doesn't match If we come to Hameln again, never here again

Very friendly and extremely tasty.

It takes some getting used to on site - but the service improved and the female service staff were very helpful. My food was ok - unfortunately nothing more. I didn't express any criticism on site - because in my opinion it was pointless. There was a good visit to the restaurant - probably/maybe I have a different perception of quality 🫠🤔

Die weibliche Bedienung im Restaurant Ambrosia ist bemüht und freundlich, der Chef ist allerdings eine Zumutung. Er behandelt seine Angestellten nicht respektvoll und hat ein erhebliches Defizit an Führungskultur. Das Essen war ganz gut, aber der Salatteller war ohne Geschmack, Essig und Öl wurden nicht bereitgestellt. Zum Bezahlen mussten wir zwei Mal nachfragen, bevor sich der Chef endlich bemühte zu uns zu kommen. Kartenzahlung ist nicht möglich. Keine Weiterempfehlung - ich werde dieses Restaurant kein zweites Mal besuchen.

Our meal, tagliatelle gorgonzola and liver with onions, was good and the portions were generous. Bread and drinks came quite quickly, although no olive oil was served. The wait for our food was 30 minutes. We received a very unfriendly reception because we dared to put our helmets and jackets on the chairs at the next table when the outside area was empty. The gentleman also really disliked the fact that we moved our table 10 cm. The interior is dark, you have to like that.

Waited quite a while before being offered a menu. Food bland, calbrese pizza was soggy and tasteless. When owner asked why I left half of it I said it was bland and he was very rude saying I choose the wrong pizza!!! Very patronising man who obviously didn’t want to hear the truth about the food. Don’t bother going here not worth it.

I found a place outside and would have liked to have a menu, but despite waving several times to the employees and the boss, I was apparently overlooked 🤔 when new guests at the neighboring table got the menu, I asked the boss if I could eat something too could get. He then replied that he hadn't seen me. He then said that he didn't depend on my money and that I should please leave. I then left

If you want to go out for a normal upscale meal and have a very open wallet, this ambience is the right place for you. Service is very friendly. The ambience is quite nice, but everything is quite old-fashioned.

Wir waren über Pfingsten mit Freunden hier, weil die Karte ansprechend war und das Lokal jeden Abend voll besetzt - was üblicherweise ein gutes Zeichen ist. Der Service war eine Katastrophe und der Chef sehr unfreundlich. Wir haben fast 2 Stunden auf das Essen gewartet. Dies wurde damit entschuldigt, dass das Restaurant voll besetzt war. Nach unserer Meinung sollte ein Restaurant in der Lage sein, alle ihre Gäste in einem angemessenem Zeitrahmen zu bewirten. Das Essen war geschmacklich in Ordnung, allerdings auch recht hochpreisig. Kartenzahlung lt. Aushang möglich, als wir bezahlen wollten hieß es, das kein EC Gerät vorhanden sei. Wir könnten aber eben zur Bank gehen und Geld holen. Leider haben wir erst heute gelesen, dass schon mehrere Bewertungen vorhanden sind, die auch unserer Erfahrung entsprechen. Wir würden das Restaurant nicht weiter empfehlen.

Went to an unheated restaurant on a cool Sunday a few weeks ago. I ordered a portion of calamari, but instead got a children's portion with 5 Tk rings for expensive money. Never again

We were invited to an 80th birthday party today. The food was very tasty. Service was very nice.. can only be recommended. Thank you 😊

I ordered Greek food, everything was fresh and delicious

Omg, never been so shocked. They actually charged me 13 euros for a Dr. Oetker not even properly heated/defrosted pizza. I have travelled a lot of less developed countries but this beats it all. I also cannot remember ever writing a trash review, but this is just outrageous

The lasagna was burnt around the edges and the food was generally very salty. When asked if we could take any leftover food with us, we were told: "If you have something to pack with you." That's quite an outrage, which the innkeeper probably noticed himself and later came back with a Styrofoam container. Two guests - an older couple - who were sitting at a distant table were also treated rudely by the innkeeper, the cause of which was unknown to me. The highlight, however, was that a few tables away the AfD was holding a party event, which was unpleasant enough to stop eating there. But there the innkeeper then made disparaging comments about the previously mentioned couple. At least that's reason for me to give this restaurant a wide berth in the future.

Party of ten incl two young children had lunch here on Sat 6 Apr. Nice quaint place with very good food (greek/italian). Not busy but took a wee while for the food to turn up. Not complaining however due to quality of food. Would definately return.

The two of us went there spontaneously last night without booking in advance. It was very full but we still got a table. We ordered a baked sheep's cheese starter, then a gratinated gyro and a Sophia plate. To drink an Alster and a dark wheat. A dark Einbeck came as a dark wheat and when the main courses came the starter was still not there, we asked about the conditions and she said do you still want it? Then I'll have a listen. Nothing happened, not even when we wanted to pay.

The boss always has a casual saying on his lips at the right time and, when asked, is happy to explain why, for example, the liver is the way it is! My family and I thought it was very, very good!
