Amara in Freiburg im Breisgau

I ordered doner kebab from Amara in Stühlinger via Lieferando. The meat was 98.5% burned. I'll leave a photo here - I also forwarded it directly to the health department. This is simply a no-go and absolutely unacceptable. Not recommended!

We ate an excellent kebab in both the sandwich and piadina versions (made by them). We chose the truly delicious "beef" version enhanced by a nice variety of fresh and tasty vegetables. The spicy addition was also appreciated. The restaurant is simple and offers the possibility of consuming your food on site with some tables both inside and outside. The staff was friendly and helpful. If you are around the center of Freiburg, stop by, I recommend it.

Buddy made me puke, I had stomach cramps. His soda can was dirty too.

Whenever I'm on the way to Switzerland, I pass Freiburg on the A5 and, despite the detour, I'm looking forward to eating a kebab here.

Everything was bad and the whole place was really unclean and unhygienic, we found some cockroaches over at the fork place. Prices are really strange for such a bad place, it is just so high.0/10

I took a Yufka with beef. The taste was ok, but too dry (too little sauce) and the beef was already dried out because it had probably been cut in the air for a while. The price blew me away, despite general price increases I think €9.90 for a Yufka is simply too much. And please update the map on the homepage, the prices are no longer current!

I ordered a kebab plate through Lieferando and asked for a fork. Since I'm in the hospital and having problems getting cutlery. Unfortunately nothing arrived despite information from the gentlemen at the snack bar. The food looks very mixed from transport, as if it had been thrown up. Shame about the money, shame about ignoring the information. Definitely never again

Average kebab but completely overpriced

Kebab quite good but at 7pm there was already no sandwich left (therefore forced to take the piadina), and the waiter was really unkind

On August 26th, 2024 around 12:15 p.m. on site with 6 hungry work colleagues. No kebab meat on the grill. The employee said that you would have to wait at least 20 minutes. The shop has been open since 11 a.m....

Actually it's good, but as soon as there's something more going on you should leave as quickly as possible: employees are unfriendly, orders are mixed up, poor Yufka rolling technology, etc... Then just go to the other side of the street and the quality remains a little more consistent as demand increases

Great kebab - good portion - at a reasonable price (in comparison). The meat is of good quality - not molded meat - and you can choose the type of meat. But vegans/vegetarians don't miss out either! Overall, definitely recommended, but intended to be taken with you and only accessible via stairs.

I'm sorry to say it clearly, unfortunately it didn't taste good and the ingredients weren't particularly fresh. Everything was dripping with fat, the meat was of poor quality or incorrectly prepared or both. The staff seemed overwhelmed and unmotivated and was also quite slow. After eating I just felt heavy and stuffed. The prices are excessive for the performance. The location itself is quite nice, apparently it was quite popular a while ago and the food was decent - but that seems to have been a long time ago. Nowadays, hardly any people go there at lunchtime. What should have made you skeptical, I regret eating there.

Unfortunately, for €8, my halloumi in the flatbread was nothing. The taste was okay, but there was not enough sauce and the portion was generally too small. I've eaten much better vegetarian kebab alternatives. The staff was also quite unfriendly and the ordering process was almost chaotic.

Previously I had very positive experiences with Amara. This time the portions were very small. Half of the ingredients were missing in the vegan bowl. The meat in the kebab was gristly.

I ate a yufka today, was hungry, the dough was like chewing gum, so bad and for that price, terrible, the whole thing is still in my stomach now, never again

The best vegan kebab in town! Update May 2024: In fact, the kebab is no longer quite as good as it used to be and 8.50 euros is a really sporty price.

So far I have always been very satisfied and the food was very tasty. But on our last visit we experienced a real disappointment. We had to wait over 30 minutes for 2 Yufka, even though there were only 3 people ahead of us. The counter was extremely dirty, as was the food storage. That didn't seem appetizing. The supposed boss constantly found fault with his employees and created an unpleasant hectic atmosphere. We both got diarrhea from the chicken Yufka. It appeared that the meat was undercooked. What a shame!

It was tasty, but the staff was hopelessly overwhelmed with taking orders, preparing them and collecting them. I waited in line for about 30 minutes - even though there were only 5 people in front of me :D

Is this supposed to be a pizza vegetariana? Shame on you. Would you also sell rotten food? The vegetables are so burnt that they are not only inedible but also pose a health risk. I also find it a disgrace that the pizza costs 6.60 euros according to the menu on the homepage, but then 9.60 euros is charged when you pick it up. What's that supposed to mean?! The atmosphere in the store was terrible. The staff is completely overwhelmed, forgets parts of the order and gives out burnt food. I'm really disappointed!

Very chaotic and stressful to order. They forgot my order and then still got it wrong after I ordered again. The food is good though and it would be nice for a sit-down meal.

Unfriendly service, poor quality of food and too expensive.

Falafel for 8.50 is a decent price. We asked if they could put some halloumi cheese in it like you get as falloumi in many kebab shops. When we paid we were asked for EUR 10.50. I'm sorry but that's just too much for an ordinary Yufka, which doesn't taste any better than anywhere else.

Delicious vegetarian vegetable durum, but completely overpriced (€8.50) for 5 pieces of grilled vegetables. The service was just ok. The boss also reprimanded his (apparently new) employees in front of the customers. Everything behind the counter was super chaotic, here you should allocate clear work areas.

I ordered food here on Lieferando. The order was confirmed and should be there in 45 minutes. After 50 minutes the order was simply canceled and the food was not delivered. Absolutely dubious.

At 7:18 p.m. the confirmation comes that the order has been received by Lieferando and the food will be delivered 45 minutes later. 8.30 p.m.: I want to call Amara and ask where our food is, no one answers the phone. 8:42 p.m.: Call from the supplier that he is currently in Amara and there is no chicken left, which type of meat we would like. I'm sorry, what? After 90 minutes!!! The yufka aren't even made yet! The delivery person blames Amara, but when my son calls Amara by phone (while I'm on my way to get our food myself) they claim that the order wasn't received until after 8 p.m. Something is very wrong there. It's a shame, I ate there a while ago and it tasted good. Never again!

One pizza, 2 yufka ordered through Lieferando. One for me, one for my son (5), they made us both really hot, even though my order didn't say anything about it. Full of crushed chillies. Called and they said call Lieferando. Great, the yufka’s were thrown straight into the trash.

I am very disappointed. Yufka was cold and they had almost nothing on the menu that I wanted. Very unfriendly service. The woman was super mean and didn't like us. There was a hole in Yufka at the bottom so all the sauce leaked into the pack. Would never recommend!

The employee was very nice. The kebab also tasted really good. However, it has never happened to me that I was still hungry after my kebab. Not even after small kebabs. When you consider that the thing cost €8.00 or even €8.50, this is unfortunately very disappointing. In terms of taste, I can highly recommend it, but please don't go if you're hungry.

Very dissapointed. They served me raw uncooked meat in the dönner kebab, a huge piece, I'm glad I didn't swallow it. The bread was also not fresh at all. They said that they have a new colleague so that's why it happened but then I'm wondering how do they train him? Really bad, raw chicken meat can be really dangerous. Other than that the place looks nice but I'm doubting their hygiene standards.

The meat (beef) was very tough and had a strange aftertaste. Half of the Yufka ended up in the trash. Too bad about the other ingredients… not recommended

I'm actually always completely satisfied, but the last few times I've been served by an older, bald employee whose skills leave a lot to be desired. Far too little content for so much money and very bad food. Otherwise good service, but with this employee it's not worth spending the money.

Was there shortly before closing time. Quite unfriendly and the portion was really tiny for 8 euros.

Good kebab shop with many dishes to choose from. Unfortunately, the two guys behind the counter couldn't always follow my and the other guests' orders. Well, semi-dramatic I can't say whether kebab is so expensive now or whether it was just like that here.

Food: good selection, vegan, vegetarian and with meat you will find what you are looking for at Amara. Delicious. Service: there is a traffic jam and you pay later - wait until everyone has ordered and only then can you pay. This should be optimized. Seats wobble. Anyone can clear it themselves - no problem. Squeeze through the queue. Ambience: Simply Student Alternative - it's functional and attractive.

Here you'll find the best Falafel Yufka I've ever eaten. And the service is excellent, always very friendly, even after a long day.

Ich habe noch NIE das Essen bekommen, das ich bestellt habe. Es fehlt entweder was oder ist das falsche drin. Dauert ewig. Die Hälfte ist dann kalt.

Je suis arrivé hier à Freiburg, l'accueil était désagréable. Le monsieur il ne sourit même pas. Le kebab était passable avec moins de viande et cher par rapport à d'autres qui proposent un kebab plus bon avec un prix réduit. À déconseiller fortement

Wurde mir schon oft empfohlen, weil lecker und große Auswahl auch für Veganer. Also los... Wow, Döner-Rindfleisch aus dem Schwarzwald. Eigene Pizza-Roller für Fleisch, Gemüse und vegan. Okay ist etwas teurer, aber regionales Fleisch & alles frisch... Solange der Geschmack stimmt: Nö, super langweilig. Aber Hauptsache man wird satt! Ups, ebenfalls Fehlanzeige; die Döner Box ist nur halb so hoch wie üblich. Fazit: Zu teuer, zu wenig, zu geschmacksarm. Never again. 👎🏼

Ganz schlecht, mein Kollege muste einen anspucken und wir haben danach kotzen mussen. War eine schlechte erfahrung und würde ich nicht nocheinmal machen.

I used to think this is best kabab place in the area. but not anymore. reason - got too expensive. 8 Euros for Dönner. that's too expensive for a student city.

Sehr gute Auswahl für veganer und meistens leckere vegane Gerichte, vor allem mit Seitan-Soja-Gemisch. Leider war einmal schon am frühen Mittag die vegane Soße alle und ich musste Mangosoße nehmen, was dann nicht so gepasst hat, aber besser als es trocken zu essen. Desweiteren gibt es leider oft kein Fladenbrot und die Kunden waren gezwungen den teureren Yufka zu nehmen, obwohl dies ja ein Versäumnis des Ladens ist.

Ich finde das Essen gut. Der Service lässt meist zu wünschen übrig, weder wird man begrüßt noch verabschiedet. Wenn ich spezielle Wünsche habe muss ich immer erst diskutieren. Auch zeitlich ist das Personal unorganisiert, das mit der langen Wartezeit kann ich auch nur bestätigen. Die Bewertung trifft auf die Filiale in der Stadt zu, sowie bei der im Stühlinger.

Mal gut mal, mal nicht. Kommt leider sehr stark darauf an wen man gerät. Zu Qualität gehört für mich auch, dass man sich sicher sein kann, was man bekommt. Kann aber vorkommen, dass man kaum Fleisch oder sehr kleinen Yufka bekommt. Für 9+€ für den Yufka ein zu großes Glücksspiel.

Also vor ein Paar Jahren habe ich bei Amara wirklich gut gegessen, heute kann ich das nicht mehr behaupten, der Serie war nicht wirklich freundlich und das Ambiente, naja könnte besser dein, hoffe auf Besserung.

Lecker, freundlich, schnell und steelvoll. Klare Empfehlung!

Also eigentlich ist die vegetarische Bowl immer grundsolide aka das beste, aber heute wurde ich zu einem Wutbürger. Wie soll man den Salat genießen, wenn die wichtigste Zutat fehlt. Ich bin zu tiefst enttäuscht. So geht das nicht weiter.meine Mangosoße ist wichtig. Ohne Mangosoße ist das einfach nicht mehr mein Amara. Ist zwar Sonntag Abend aber Mangosoße ist wichtig. hat stark nachgelassen, preise gingen hoch , wartezeiten auch . qualität eher runter. wenn ausnahmsweise mal keine schlange da ist, wartet man 15min weil noch 3 sachen für den lieferando dude gemacht werden müssen

Lecker, mittlerweile sehr teuer geworden.

Leute bei euch kann man seit Monaten nur Bar bezahlen. Bitte aktualisiert euer Daten mal. Nervt wenn man wegen einem Döner auch noch zur nächsten Bank laufen darf. Und zwei Döner fast 18€, da ist das ein oder andere Restaurant günstiger😉

Danke, TripAdvisor - das war ein toller Tipp! In dieser Gegend bin ich aufgewachsen, aber seit ich nicht mehr in Freiburg wohne, gehen wir hier nicht mehr so oft zum Essen her. Heute habe ich aber wieder mal eine Runde durch die alte Heimat gemacht, um diese Empfehlung auszuprobieren. Ich dachte ja, dass ich einen schlechten Zeitpunkt ausgewählt hätte (über 10 Kunden warteten vor mir). Aber als ich den Imbiss später verließ, waren es weit über 20 (gut die Hälfte musste draußen, bei beißender Kälte, warten)! Alleine das zeigt, wie gut der Laden hier ankommt. Und ich kann das jetzt auch verstehen, denn das Essen ist sehr lecker und komplett frisch zubereitet - eine absolute Empfehlung!

Eine Frau wurde mit ihrer Bestellung zum mitnehmen 20 Minuten vergessen. Wir bekamen lauwarmes Essen, es war aber gut gewürzt. Wir verstehen nicht warum Amara eine so gute Bewertung erhalten hat.

Es gibt so viele leckere, geile Dönerläden. Aber warum man Amara so hochlobt in Freiburg ist für uns nicht nachvollziehbar. Entweder Studenten die nichts anderes kennen oder Bewertungen durch eigenes Haus. Obwohl nur 3 Kunden im Laden, mit 5 Mitarbeitern hinter der Theke über 25 Minuten auf alles warten müssen. Viel blabla. Döner fühl in sich zusammen. Zu labbrig und kein Geschmack. Das Pide genauso. Kein Geschmack, keine Gewürze und das zu diesen Preisen. Billiger Hefeteig, Handvoll Spinat aus Eimer und Reibeköse. 8,70 EUR. Wären wir lieber gleich zum Gegenüber.
