Am Schulzenbusch in Ahaus

My mother ate there today and came back very disappointed from the Christmas dinner; the quality of the food was apparently inadequate.

We had reserved a table weeks in advance, but since we forgot the time, I called again. Unfortunately, the reservation wasn't recorded in writing, but they still made a table for us. It showed. It was very cramped. We ate there the day before the first Sunday of Advent, and it was anything but cozy. No decorations, nothing inviting. The tablecloths were old and looked like something from Oktoberfest. The waiters tried their best. The room itself was far too loud. The fries were tasty, but that was about it. I've never eaten such a bad burger. The schnitzel unfortunately had tendons and bits of bacon, and the medallions were very dry, despite the sauce. We would never eat there again. Out of six meals, five were not recommended.

Very friendly service, not at all intrusive when your glass is almost empty! From a beer to high-quality food, they have it all! Of course, it comes at a price, but who or what doesn't?!

The location is rather rustic, but renovated and therefore pleasantly rustic. The main course was basic and good. Schnitzel with side dish and salad – no complaints there! The desserts, unfortunately, were a complete disappointment: - The crème brûlée was a very small portion and came with a single scoop of pistachio ice cream. The top layer of the crème brûlée wasn't as crispy as one would expect. The ice cream had many ice crystals – it simply wasn't good ice cream! - The "Herrencreme" (a type of German dessert) was more like pudding, far too runny for a "Herrencreme" – I found the taste okay. The main course was reasonably priced, but the dessert was too expensive for what it was. The drinks were reasonably priced, but over €6 for a 0.75L bottle of water seems excessive. The service was good, young waiters, all friendly – ​​no complaints there.

We had a wonderful evening with excellent service. Our special requests were accommodated and we were served a delicious meal. We would gladly return.

After a change of ownership, the restaurant has undergone some major modernization and a new concept. We enjoyed the ambiance and service. The menu is modern and well-thought-out, and vegetarians and vegans will also find something to suit their taste. We enjoyed the food very much. Both the meat and meatless dishes were visually and tastefully appealing. We would be happy to return.

The outdoor dining area has turned out really nice. You can enjoy truly lovely evenings there.

The staff was friendly and accommodating. However, the final part was unprofessional. The dishes (burgers and pork fillet) tasted okay, but were poorly presented on the plates. A little greenery would have helped. The worst, however, was yet to come: When it came to paying, the dishes were charged at a higher price than the menu on the table. The explanation was: "Oh, we haven't posted the new prices yet." There was no proactive response. A shame!

Today, I was there with my wife and daughter for the first time since the change of ownership. The welcome was friendly, but unfortunately, we were disappointed after we sat down at our table. After 25 minutes, neither our food nor our drink were served. The other guests who arrived after us had already received their drinks. Despite the waitresses walking past us several times, we were ignored. After 25 minutes, we stood up, the waitress noticed, and then asked us if we wanted to order, but then we left. It's a real shame, but we might come back sometime. The waitresses are very young; perhaps they should pay more attention to ensuring that the order is followed and no guests are forgotten.

I stumbled upon this restaurant by chance after seeing it on Facebook. Perfect, because after a tour with my Raymon GravelRay 5.0, I was really hungry‼️🚴‍♀️💨💪🏼 The food was super delicious😋. The "surf and turf" salad with grilled roast beef strips and king prawns was a dream🤩. I paired it with a non-alcoholic beer and, to top it off, a perfect espresso ☕️🤌🏽, just like an Italian should be. Very satisfied with the food and service... Arrivederci 😁✌🏼

The ambiance is very nice. A very nice beer garden. So, that's about it. We arrived at 7 p.m., and it took an hour for our first drink. The food then took another hour. Even then, it only arrived because, after asking several times, we were fed up and wanted to leave. It took another half hour to get another drink. The salad had no vinaigrette. Unfortunately, there was no vinegar or oil for seasoning. The food was only lukewarm and nothing special. The meat on the salad was tough. A young waitress then spilled a beer on my friend's food while serving and came back with smelly rags to clean under the plate. We then ordered a nightcap and coffee. At 10 p.m., we got a glass, but nothing more. After asking again where the remaining schnapps and coffee were, it took forever again. The coffee was cold when we got it. We've rarely experienced anything like this. We were only able to order drinks four times until 10:30 p.m. because there was simply no waiter available. The waiters preferred to stand around and chat. I'm sorry, that's not hospitality.

Sitting outside is wonderful. We had reserved a table, our order was taken, and drinks arrived. We waited two and a half hours for the food. Afterward, we left hungry.

What a disaster. We wanted to order our food while ordering drinks, but that wasn't possible... they went to make the drinks first! Then, within 20 minutes, a waiter came three times to take our order. I asked if everything had gone through inside. After an hour of waiting, still no food, so I went inside to report it. I'm now paying for the drinks and want more immediately. I saw at least six staff members in the kitchen, and it looked chaotic. But our food was supposed to be ready... unfortunately, the food wasn't right, it wasn't what I'd ordered. So, unfortunately, I was done with it. They made absolutely no effort to accommodate us, so we ended up paying 9 euros for a coke and a disgusting cappuccino. I think the positive reviews are from friends and staff. We thought it was terrible!

An absolute highlight! This was our first time here – and definitely not our last! We felt welcome from the very first moment. The service was attentive, warm, yet unobtrusive. Exactly what you'd expect. The food was simply fantastic: fresh, creatively presented, and perfectly flavored. I particularly want to highlight the schnitzel and the medallions, which were truly divine! The atmosphere in the restaurant is cozy, stylish, yet pleasantly relaxed – you can tell that great attention to detail goes into the work here. Thank you for this wonderful evening. Unfortunately, the wrong dish arrived with the first order, which is a real shame for a cozy meal. The sauces could also use some updating. Unfortunately, ketchup and mayo were also forgotten and weren't brought back when we were eating. The two servers were friendly and nice!

The ambiance is good. Unfortunately, the service left a lot to be desired. It took about 30 minutes for anyone to even come to our table. We waited an hour and 20 minutes for the food, which was unfortunately only lukewarm. Two dishes were supposed to come with a salad, but it only came after we asked twice for it. The salad came without dressing, meaning it was dry. When ordering, we asked for ketchup, but unfortunately, it wasn't brought even when we asked. It was listed on the bill. So, all in all, very disappointed.

A week ago, 10 of us were there. We ordered salad, various schnitzels, and medallions. All 10 of us were very satisfied. The staff was very friendly, and even though it was very busy, they kept coming by to check on us.

Great, spacious outdoor dining area. The food was delicious. Large portions, with a house soup to start with and salad for the main course. Everything was fresh. Prices were on the higher side, but reasonable for the quantity. Service, from the two ladies today and the shorter, more experienced waiter, was excellent!!! Friendly, fast, and very attentive. Otherwise, we unfortunately have to deduct one star for the service today. As a guest, I'd like to relax; we were stressed despite having a reservation and few guests. New employees should be well-trained, including what's on the menu and, above all, what it consists of. Most guests paid inside. We did too. Unfortunately, there was a lot of chaos behind the counter and in the kitchen. But all in all, we would come back!

The service is very attentive but disorganized. We ordered different dishes. Some of them came with salad plates. It only came upon request. Unfortunately, the food is only “out of the bag”, i.e. conventional food. You may like that, but I don't. Unfortunately, what is well intended is not what is well done. Regarding the feedback: Unfortunately I can't leave it like this. The vegetarian patties were not handmade by any stretch of the imagination. And a real fried schnitzel has a fluffy breading. It's okay if, given the breadth of the menu, you can't make all the dishes by hand. Actually, as a guest you know that too.

Were there for the second time today to give the restaurant another chance after it opened. Unfortunately, to remain polite, it was far from what we were used to from Schulzenbusch and what the older reviews from the old operator suggest. Unfortunately, the schnitzels are fried and the pepper sauce unfortunately doesn't taste like pepper sauce. So I returned it and re-ordered it without sauce. Unfortunately, the second schnitzel was also fried and not cooked through. The staff runs and runs completely without a plan and they don't know what food they are bringing to the table. Price performance unfortunately underground.

Waren heute zum 2. Mal da um dem Lokal nach der Eröffnung nochmal eine Chance zu geben. Leider war es um höflich zu bleiben bei weitem nicht das was man vom Schulzenbusch gewohnt war und was die älteren Rezensionen vom alten Betreiber so hergeben. Die Schnitzel sind leider fritiert und die Pfeffersosse schmeckt leider nach allem nur nicht nach Pfeffersosse. Also zurück gegeben und ohne Sosse neu bestellt, das 2. Schnitzel leider auch fritiert und nicht durch. Das Personal rennt und rennt aber völlig planlos, zudem wissen sie nicht was sie zum Tisch bringen an Essen. Preis Leistung leider unterirdisch

We had dinner at Schulzenbusch with 7 men and everyone enjoyed it very much. The food looked appealing and was plentiful. The waitresses were very friendly and quick. We would be happy to go there again for dinner.

I had a combo platter because I wanted to try everything. Because there was no sauce other than mayo or ketchup, the "normal grilled sausage" seemed quite dry, as did the minced steak. In my opinion, the little schnitzel could have used a little more salt. So it's better to order the schnitzel with sauce straight away. It might be nice to have a sauce to choose from. E.g. pepper sauce. They could have saved themselves the small chicken wing. There was hardly any seasoning on it... maybe season this with a hot spice. Unfortunately there was no option for seasoning. Otherwise, the other food from my fellow guests looked very good and I was able to try it there too. So price performance was great. The only thing that could be improved is the combination plate.

Were in the restaurant for the first time under the new operator. The atmosphere is good, as a previous regular customer - I'm missing the table runners and maybe a candle. The staff is friendly and quick. But unfortunately a bit clumsy. The drinks menu is O.K. The fact that they don't carry water as a medium is perhaps understandable. But the fact that there is no banana wheat, even though both individual drinks are on the menu, is incomprehensible. The menu is clear, but that doesn't have to be a bad thing. But the fact that not a single dish only contains chicken is not perfect. The food came very promptly and on hot plates. Very good ! It tasted good too. But the mix plate is a mess of meat and side dishes. There is still room for improvement. I think the prices are too expensive because the main course + side dish + sauce is always charged extra. The salad plates and the side dish salads are also a bit too expensive. Sometimes simple is more. Still, good luck.

Waren das erste Mal unter dem neuen Betreiber im Restaurant.Das Ambiente ist gut,als früherer Stammkunde - fehlen mir die Tischläufer und eventuell eine Kerze. Das Personal ist freundlich und schnell unterwegs. Aber leider etwas unbeholfen. Die Getränkekarte ist O.K. , das sie kein Medium Wasser führen ist ja vielleicht noch verständlich. Aber das es kein Bananen Weizen gibt , obwohl beide Einzelgetränke in der Karte stehen ist unverständlich.Die Speisekarte ist übersichtlich, was aber nicht schlecht sein muss. Aber das kein einziges Gericht nur mit Hähnchen darin steht ist nicht perfekt. Das Essen kam sehr Zeitnah und auf heißen Tellern . Sehr gut ! Es hat auch gut geschmeckt. Aber der Mix Teller,ist ein Durcheinander an Fleisch und Beilagen.Da ist noch Luft nach oben. Die Preise finde ich zu teuer, weil immer Hauptgang+ Beilage+ Soße extra berechnet wird.Auch die Salate Teller Bzw der Beilagen Salate ,sind etwas zu Preis intensiv . Einfach ist manchmal mehr . Trotzdem viel Erfolg.

Unfortunately not the right one for me. I would have liked chicken schnitzel instead of pork but they don't sell that. In general it is very pig-heavy there. It would be nice if the map was perhaps changed a bit. Also for vegetarians. The staff was nice and the food was OK. The price was okay too. But we were unlucky that we had a very loud lady at the next table who filled the entire room with sound. And about politics too. I would have liked the staff to point out to the lady that it was disturbing. So everyone was annoyed.

We wanted to spend a nice evening there (birthday) but were bitterly disappointed. We had to wait 30 minutes for drinks. At Lille there were no berries (they weren't in stock) then the food was swapped. So each of us had to eat alone. Wasn't the point of the evening. We pointed out several times that we had to wait too long for drinks. The swapped food came 30 minutes later. Entrecote was full of cartilage. We said that too. We were given a waiver of 15 euros. Not a nice experience. A tip to the boss: bring in structure. There is no need for three waiters to ask whether we have ordered. But everyone was definitely not unfriendly!!!! Improve service, then maybe it will work.

We celebrated our mother's special birthday there two months ago with many guests. The breakfast buffet was very rich and very attractively presented. The service was extremely friendly and accommodating. We - and from what I noticed - also our mother's guests - were completely satisfied and felt comfortable. Recommended!

APRIL 2024: It is no longer worth it since the new owner. Everything is more expensive, but above all much less tasty. Many times smaller portions and poor quality. It's really a shame, it was a really nice tent. We're not going anymore. September 2023: What a lovely typical German place. Really big plates full of good food. We visit many "luxury" catering establishments. But this was really fantastic. Large portions, very tasty, fast service, good prices. And nice beers. Only the cocktails were a bit disappointing, but that's not what you're here for. The food and the quiet terrace were exactly what we were looking for. We also liked coming to Sanderskuper on the border towards Enschede. But we think the food here, with the same dishes on the menu, is much better. I will definitely come back here more often for a good piece of meat, a delicious salad and potatoes with bacon, really great.

7/10 Food was bad and had to be returned because it was either too salty or didn't taste normal. Some dishes were also missing what was written on the menu. The only good thing was the lovely blonde waitress.

We have eaten with the new owner twice so far and were very satisfied. Since we eat out a lot (Germany, France, Spain, Netherlands) we can say that we have eaten worse in a 5 star restaurant. And we think it's brave for the chef to take over the old menu one-to-one - he's already earned stars for that alone!!!

We were in Schulzenbusch for the first time under new management on January 20, 2024. Unfortunately, nothing is right anymore! From the reservation, to the new staff, to the boss (who was at our table for a short time and didn't take our complaint seriously in our opinion). The food has nothing to do with the quality of the old Schulzenbusch... it doesn't look appetizing and doesn't taste good either. Schnitzels from the chip shop are much better! The new staff was probably not properly trained either. The waitress walked past our table (my husband and I were still waiting for the other four friends) probably 5 or 6 times without even asking if we could get something to drink. Unfortunately I had to give one star, otherwise you can't judge hand over! All I can say is that we won't be visiting this restaurant again, for our well-deserved money I demand good food, good service and ambience.

Schulzenbusch used to be the top address for great home-style food. And now? .Schnitzel dried out. Molded chips? They probably weren't fresh. Olives that don't belong on them...the pasta dish drowned in oil...new brooms sweep well.....actually! but thank you once and never again...it's a shame our home-style cuisine in Ahaus is now Paseee too...the one Service staff top. Too bad unfortunately not recommended

Wo gibt es so etwas noch; Essen satt in einem Regionalen Restaurant! Dazu noch die Ausgezeichnete Qualität der Speisen! Erstklassiges Champignon Rahmschnitzel und ein Beilagensalat der es in sich hatte. Dieser Salat war die Reinste Geschmacksoffenbarung und ist auch an Frische nicht zu Überbieten! Betreiber und Personal sind Autentisch und geben dem Gast das Gefühl, dass hier alles zum Wohlergehen getan wird. Ausstattung der Gastronomie sehr Geschmackvoll und beim Händewaschen wird man Überwiegend von Blondinen bevorzugt.

Hier wird man in gemütlicher Atmosphäre sehr nett bedient. Das gutbürgerliche Essen hat uns sehr gut geschmeckt. Wir waren sicherlich nicht zum letzten Mal dort!

Das Essen kann ich empfehlen. Die Bedienung war aufmerksam und freundlich. Die Portionen sind groß und deftig. Das Cordonbleau war sehr saftig und der Spargel kein Stück holzig. Das Fleisch war durchweg super. Die pommes waren nicht so meins, ist aber klar Geschmackssache. Wir werden sicher wieder kommen.

Wir waren schon sehr oft im Schulzenbuch essen und sind selten enttäuscht worden. Heute, am Ostersonntag, hat sich die Küche und auch der Service Mal wieder selber übertroffen. Das Buffet war große Klasse. Unsere ganze Familie,( Alter ""27 - 88 Jahre ) war restlos begeistert. Auch auf die Getränke mussten wir nicht warten. Wir kommen gerne wieder .

Die Gaststätte ist in rustikaler Optik mit tollem Wintergarten und im Sommer mit Außenbereich. Das Essen ist gut bürgerlicher Küche, aber auf hohem Niveau. Es war sehr lecker. Gutes Preis Leistung Verhältnis. Wir kommen gerne wieder.
