Althoff Seehotel Überfahrt in Rottach-Egern

In anticipation, we booked a long weekend at the Althoff Seehotel Überfahrt. A junior suite with a mountain view and a standard double room also with a mountain view were reserved. The rooms are relatively old, but very clean. All the features for a five star hotel are offered, but it is more than disappointing that in the junior suite with mountain view the eyes of the tenant of the junior suite are automatically drawn to the staff canteen, which is illuminated day and night. This impresses with its sobriety in its furnishings. An early riser like me would also like to sit on the existing garden furniture, which unfortunately had no seat padding. The pool area impresses with its background noise, which is caused by the machinery of the pool pumps. We were forced to retreat to the first relaxation room, which is very tastefully decorated. The fire lounge is also very stylishly furnished and even the spiders, who have created their cobwebs over a large area, find peace and quiet. The weather god Zeus meant well with us and we were able to use the lawn. There were loungers waiting for us with cushions that had probably been there since the summer and had never been cleaned or turned. Nevertheless, we enjoyed the sun lying on our towels and looked forward to a cooling and refreshing drink. We waited in vain for a cooperating soul from the five star (plus) hotel. Instead of an employee, we found a filthy handphone, and next to it there was an announcement saying that all orders could be ordered by telephone. Unfortunately, no one answered the other end of the line. A caravan consisting of four people then made its way to the lobby. When we arrived, we were told that delicious cakes would be available from 2 p.m. Due to the fact that we were in the wellness area and were dressed in bathrobes, but were still forced to take care of our physical well-being, we were then politely informed in the lobby that we were in this elevator Please leave the lobby as this is a five star plus hotel. I explained to the very nice executive employee, firstly, that this hotel was anything but five star plus and also the dilemma in which we found ourselves. He reacted in a very customer-oriented manner and had all our orders brought to the lawn and apologized with a bottle of champagne. For Saturday we reserved a table in the in-house star restaurant Überfahrt. Booking a table turned out to be relatively complex from the start. The four of us wanted to come to dinner, but apparently you weren't prepared for two more guests in the restaurant, as you first had to check the existing food supplies to see whether you could feed two more people. After repeated inquiries We were informed by phone that the four of us were allowed to attend the dinner that we had been eagerly awaiting. The non-vegetarian dinner, which was ordered twice, fully corresponded to a star cuisine. Unfortunately, the vegetarian menu was only impressive in its presentation and decoration. Five courses were ordered, two of which were simply inedible and were returned to the kitchen almost untouched. The cauliflower in nut butter and parsley was so salty, which was due to the fatty espuma and creams. The artichoke with goat curd was massively sour, which overwhelmed the whole dish and the artichoke itself tasted of nothing. Actually, it would have been expected to ask what we thought was wrong with the dishes - unfortunately nothing was found. We wish the young chef all the best for the future and a more balanced palate.

A luxury hotel, unbeatable surroundings at the foot of the Alps on one of the largest lakes south of Munich. Nature in its purest form, select cuisine, delicious breakfast buffet. Here you can disconnect. Ferry ride, bike ride, skiing, nothing is missing.

A wonderful hotel, great spa plus all its facilities

Ceiling stained. The ceiling is actually beige, but was touched up with white. When we brought it up, this information was ignored. The lights in the room were generally nice, but you definitely need a degree in electrical engineering. There are many different light switch combinations. It was almost impossible to achieve comfortable lighting. Unfortunately, the employees at the reception were not very accommodating, rather incompetent. For example, we were only given about 1/4 of the information that was explained to other guests. When we checked out, it was only after we repeatedly asked that we were told that we needed an extra keycard to leave the garage. We only got this when we were standing in front of the elevator to the underground car park and an employee saw us by chance. The outdoor pool leaves a lot to be desired and has already seen better days. For example, the wall by the pool is absolutely rancid and has not been painted or is peeling off in some places. The floor tiles in the outdoor area had not been cleaned and were therefore dirty. The “private beach” was very small and only had about 5 berths.

Top location helped by the position a lot! Clean and very helpful staff! I don’t remember the names but 2 of them a girl maybe Nadia and a Blonde tall guy the were very polite and professional!!! My best breakfast in an hotel ever! Parking very clean and safe! Beds are TOP 🔝 A very nice and quiet place! Recommend!!!!!

Expect the star restaurant to open on September 15th.

If you come in the summer, it gets crowded because there is no air conditioning. Breakfast is modest.

A special kind of experience for demanding people

The hotel is beautiful, spacious, and has a wonderful view But I have two observations I was surprised to find a hotel of this level! After cleaning the rooms, there was a blood stain on the bedspread! We asked for it to be changed, but it's frankly disgusting The second observation is the lack of space at the breakfast tables The place is crowded and uncomfortable If we ask for something, they will provide it immediately How many times do we order, for example, coffee or something else, and the worker takes the order, ignores us, and does not answer the order? No respect for guests If I were to repeat the experience, I would repeat it only for the beauty of the hotel

We were at the lake festival and consumed something on the forecourt. But then we were denied access to the toilets. For house guests only. Should I go behind the hedge or to the lake? Star hotel? Even a train station kiosk offers its guests a toilet and no such rude answer. It was my last visit, even though the restaurant is otherwise very good.

Great hotel, everything was very spacious, huge rooms, a lot of staff and everyone was super friendly, perfect location by the lake, great wellness area, cozy bar, clean TG, good communication in advance, everything perfect. Except breakfast: as a vegan you can only eat pretzels and fruit. That's very little choice for paying €450 per night. When asked, only 5 slices of vegan cheese & half an avocado came. Nowadays, vegan yogurt/oat milk/hummus/vegan spreads/butter/vegan cake/pieces are no longer uncommon and I would have expected them in a 5-star hotel. Our friends wanted to come from Munich for breakfast on the second day, but canceled it because of that. It's a shame and I would be happy to have more choice next time. Nevertheless, thank you for the wonderful stay!

I recently spent two nights at this luxury hotel, and it was an amazing experience. The hotel and rooms are absolutely beautiful, with elegant décor and every comfort you could want. This wonderful hotel in this wonderful place is simply a dream. I felt super comfortable, the staff is so professional, friendly and sensitive, the wellness area is great, the restaurants are fantastic, the rooms are beautiful and the lobby with this live music is so beautiful. Unique. I felt super comfortable and am already looking forward to the next time.

Amazing hotel with fabulous stunning location. The view outside the hotel is an absolute dream. The lobby is very elegant for coffee and cake. Right next to the hotel, you can have a beautiful walk on the lake, and stroll along beautiful cute shops, sole restaurants, and ice cream shops. Absolutely wonderful place and superb location all I. One spot. Absolutely recommended.

Ein schönes Hotel mit wirklich super Service und sehr netten Personal. Das Essen ist wirklich sehr lecker. Der SPA Bereich liegt im Keller. Ich persönlich mag Saunen die so angelegt sind, dass man nach draußen schauen kann. Wenn man in den SPA Bereich kommt wird man von der schlechten Luft etwas erschlagen. Ich könnte hier nicht den ganzen Tag liegen. Der Ruhe Raum ist nicht wirklich ein Ruhe Raum weil jedes Mal wenn jemand rein kommt die Tür sehr laut zuknallt. Selbst das Personal welches ab und an rein kommt hat das wohl noch nicht gemerkt. Hier würde ich die Tür so einstellen dass sie leise zufällt. Zum Glück liegt das Hotel so schön dass man nicht den ganzen Tag drinnen sein muss. Für rein um Wellness zu machen würde ich nicht wiederkommen. Der Sportbereich mit super modernen Geräten ist hervorzuheben. Auch der Service auf dem Zimmer ist top! Jeden Abend eine frische Flasche Wasser und eine kleine Praline.

Wir waren zwar nur eine Nacht hier, haben die Zeit dort trotzdem sehr genossen. Einfach ein super Hotel, 5 Sterne Deluxe mit allem was dazugehört. Service, Ausstattung, Zimmer, Wellness, Essen, einfach alles perfekt. Wir kommen ganz sicher wieder.

Ich hatte einen Aufenthalt im Hotel, der wirklich außergewöhnlich war. Die Lage des Hotels direkt am See, der Service, die Küche und der Wellnessbereich ließen keinerlei Wünsche offen!

So, let me start by saying this review is not a reflection of the staff in the lobby but of the reception lady, Gabrielle, in the Elements Spa. It was my husband's birthday, and we decided to try Althoff; as we live in Munich, we usually go to Bachmair for our weekend getaways and enjoy the spa there. My husband's clients recommend we try here as they rave about their spa. (as we are not Germans, we wanted to try something recommended by locals) first, when we arrived, everything was very smooth with the valet service and check. The staff was swift and helpful. I will say I'm a little disappointed as they did bring a cake to the room. I had also requested beers in the room for my husband's birthday, and I was told they would be there in the room, but they were not. Okay, it's not that big of a deal, whatever. So we headed down to the spa, where we planned a couple's private massage room and a rose bath for two. We showed up 10 minutes before like we were asked, only to arrive and the receptionist told us that we didn't have an appointment. Also, she laughed in our faces like we had made a mistake. Then she told me I needed to show her proof of the reservation, so I had to run back upstairs to the room for my phone to show her. After she realized it was her mistake and not ours, her rudeness quickly changed. She began to tell us she was sorry someone had deleted our reservation. I would consider myself a pretty understanding person, but I was very annoyed with how rude she was to us initially and the fact it was my husband's birthday. She told us she would see what she could do. So we went to the spa area to FINALLY relax. She returned and told us we would have the appointment in 20 minutes. (ok, problem solved, right?) wrong. She told us to come back to the reception at 15:15, and we did; we got We had our massages at 15:30, which ended at exactly 16:00. Even though we booked for 50 minutes each, they tried to charge us 115€ each. for 30 minutes and thought we wouldn't notice!? When we finished, we told Gabrielle that we had booked the private suite for two and were expecting a bottle of champagne. And she said, "Well, we thought you just wanted a couples massage as couples request this all the time, and it's not allowed to have a rose bath and a private suite for two.” This was not communicated at all to us in emails or anything. We had to go back and forth with them to not have to pay for one massage. Overall not a relaxing birthday for my husband. I would just skip their spa services all together. We were prepared to pay 400€+ at their spa. But because of incompetence, they lost money and a customer.
