We waited 2.5 hours for the steak. In the end, they brought it raw🫠

We certainly won't become regular customers here! We were here for the second and last time. Our experience as follows; We came to the restaurant at 5:15 p.m. and weren't exactly greeted warmly (we did disturb the innkeeper when he was setting up the tables) - well, note; If you open at 5 p.m., everything should be ready. We were then given the menu and we ordered. It took about 30 minutes for our drinks to arrive because the waiter is also the cook, the innkeeper and the bartender and instead of bringing us the drinks promptly, they preferred cleaning glasses first. The food arrived after about 90 minutes! Crazy, we were too far alone in the restaurant the whole time. The side dish was ice cold, the meat was average. Since we really liked the atmosphere, we still wanted to come back again with our daughter and friend and wanted to order a separate table, but they said that you had to order a bottle of wine at this table because otherwise you would "fight" for the table - but we are not wine drinkers! So we have to let people tell us what we have to drink?! The table we had actually liked to reserve was not occupied again! Like the first visit. (Note; even on the first visit there were only two other people besides us and another table occupied) So there can probably be no question of "hitting on it". It makes you seriously ask yourself whether you can afford to be so arrogant as to tell people what to drink and how - especially since NO other guest came during our stay apart from us! It is quite remarkable when the innkeeper, the waiter, the cook and the bartender are at the same time. A tip for the future; This is certainly not how you build up potential regular customers; you scare away your guests! SERVICE and friendliness are the be-all and end-all in the restaurant, unfortunately you won't find either here! A tip for new guests who still want to go; If there should be more going on, bring a lot of time and patience and don't come before 6 p.m. so that the landlord can finish setting up. We can't understand how an owner can be so unfriendly to his guests, he didn't even say goodbye to us and as if he knew he wasn't a good host, he didn't even ask when clearing the plates whether it was tasty.

Yesterday evening we happened to pass the Old Wine Cellar and spontaneously decided to enter - without any specific expectations. We were even more excited! The quality of the service, the food and especially the wines completely convinced us. We were particularly impressed by the owner with his expert and warm advice on wine selection - we were not disappointed in any way. Anyone who visits this charming restaurant should take time to enjoy the food and the atmosphere in peace (we were there for about 2.5 hours). An absolute highlight for connoisseurs!

The food was okay, the service was really lacking. The operator cannot hold larger celebrations. I think the day-to-day business is working, but the store is really overwhelmed with events. But the atmosphere was great, at least something that was right!

The old wine cellar rediscovered. We were thrilled and will be back. 5 stars in each category.

Been there for the first time, 11/10. Maybe the best restaurant in Gelnhausen currently - keep it up. Steak on point, the goose leg falls apart so tenderly. Not to mention the green mussels and the grilled (yes!) Christmas stollen as a starter.

Unfortunately the service is not very attentive. Empty drinks were not noticed and therefore no one asked if they wanted anything else. Too many glasses, napkins and cutlery were covered far too late. The waiting time between starter and main course is clearly too long at over an hour. Especially since three tables who ordered after us received their food beforehand. In addition, the fried potatoes were black, i.e. burnt. How can it be that something like this is served to the guest? It is of course much more important for the wait staff to chat with guests for minutes about something rather than letting their eyes wander around the restaurant. So paying became a guessing game: “Will you take a look at some point so you can finally pay?” Next, the receipt had to be shown again because the service person didn't remember the price written on it. But that didn't help either - the correct change wasn't given. I would have let the faux pas of calling a guest (my companion) on a first-name basis, but not reacting after my justified complaint about the quality of the food other than the sentence "I'll tell the kitchen" is not enough for him desired standard. An apology would be the bare minimum in such a situation. The door in the men's room cannot be closed. But that would be something you would expect in a restaurant of this class. All in all, it wasn't a successful evening for us and therefore our last visit.

Great service, beautiful ambience and a very good selection of food, including many vegetarian and vegan dishes. However, you have to expect long waiting times.

Had to stay there for one night. Rooms are getting old, but large. Parking isn't really available. Arriving late involves waiting time.

The restaurant is totally quaint and cozy, the food is very tasty....great taste....well prepared

I couldn't smack my lips so loudly how happy I was. I ate very well. The service was approachable and friendly. It's the operator anyway. His cuisine is designed with dedication, passion and full of creativity. I have rarely eaten something that tastes so good. I wish this restaurant many visitors who spend the evening “ "Enjoy" can, even if it takes a little longer. I can't confirm that for the evenings I was there. That's what happens with good food and a lack of staff. Time and enjoyment go hand in hand. Otherwise, men/women can go to McDonald’s! I wish this restaurant the success it deserves!

And there is really fine cuisine in the region! The biggest surprise since my wife and I started testing the restaurants in our new home region. Even untrained tongues can recognize fine cuisine because these dishes paint poetic thoughts on the palate. Sensational and definitely “the tip” for the Gelnhausen region. My wife - as a committed vegan - was also more than well served. Go and see for yourself. But don't let the name of the restaurant confuse you! That sounds a bit like German home cooking, but the quality of the dishes is at least one level above that. Last but not least: the price of the dishes is almost a bargain in relation to what you get. Nice little terrace facing the Untermarkt if you really want to sit outside and a very nice vaulted cellar. We wish you all the best for the coming years.

Have eaten there twice now and always been very satisfied. Food and ambience fit together perfectly.

I recently visited the Altes Weinkellerchen restaurant and was overall pleased with the ambience and quality of the food. The restaurant offers a pleasant atmosphere and the food, once served, was really tasty and well presented. Unfortunately I have to note that the service was very slow that evening. We waited almost two hours for our food, which somewhat dampened the joy of dinner. The service was friendly, but obviously overwhelmed or understaffed, which led to the long waiting times. I hope that management pays more attention to more efficient service in the future, otherwise the restaurant has a lot of potential. If wait times are improved I would happily come back and enjoy the restaurant again. Best regards

Can only be recommended! We were there for dinner, the food and service were perfect, a chef who suggested the right wine for the meal, so I praise that.

It was our first time there, but we were welcomed as if we had been there before. That gave me a good feeling. The wines on the menu were also very good. There was something for everyone on the memory card, including a good selection of vegetarian options. The white sideboard was great. The boss then came with a dessert wine and asked how it tasted. The service was very friendly. Our conclusion here must have been seen more than once.

If there were six stars, I would have given them. The starter, green mussels, was sensational!

Very high quality food. Vegan dishes are excellent on the menu. Unfortunately there are only a few vegan dishes to choose from. But they are extremely tasty.

I expected more. After 10 minutes. I remembered my wine order and was told that it was taking a while because they were understaffed, even though there wasn't really much going on. In this price segment, it should be said, "Sorry, coming straight away." For dinner I had a fillet of beef with an incredibly delicious sauce and mashed potatoes. The fillet was good, but it could have been a little more medium, but no one asked beforehand how they would like it. I would also have liked someone to come over with a pepper mill. Nobody saw that either Our drinks were empty. After paying the bill, we got a Prosecco on the house, which was appropriate for the restaurant. Conclusion: I know and love the old wine cellar from before, but for me personally the price/performance ratio isn't right (yet?).

The two of us were in the restaurant this evening. Unfortunately there was nothing going on, which is really a shame. The service is nice and the food and wine are really excellent. We can absolutely recommend it.
