Incredibly delicious, honest cuisine and perfect for a romantic meal. 😊

The restaurant is beautifully located and has a large parking lot. However, the food wasn't good. The shrimp and zander were overcooked. This happened with both the appetizer and the main courses. I also only received an interim bill afterward. We won't be back.

After the appetizer and several drinks, they simply forgot about us. We waited for an hour and 50 minutes, busy chasing the wasps out of the nest next to the terrace. Then we asked for the bill. And even then, they didn't notice that they hadn't brought us any food. However, the bill listed our meal, which we were then supposed to pay for, even though we hadn't received it. What are we to make of that? I'll celebrate my next birthday somewhere else. Zero stars for the food, because there was no food. One star for service, and actually zero ambience too, one star because it was very spoiled by the swarm of wasps.

We had a fabulous meal in a wonderful setting overlooking the Rhine.

A very cozy atmosphere. The staff was extremely attentive and very friendly. Plates were cleared quickly, food at the buffet was refilled, and drinks were always refilled. There was also a cozy bar. It was beautifully located with a view of the Rhine, where you could watch the ships sailing by. The terrace also offers a lovely spot in good weather. The restrooms were also very clean, spacious, and tastefully decorated. We were there for a company party. It would also be a great location for a wedding reception.

Simply perfect ambience and the food tastes excellent

Food was fine and the views from the terrace are great. Service was very slow though, and simply overwhelmed. One waiter for more than 10 tables just did not work... Final minus points for no online booking, and a very special card payment machine : almost 10 Euros surcharge for a non-EU card (normal Mastercard from UK). Never happened to me in any other restaurant in Germany with the same card.

I visited Altes Fischerhaus 1817 in Düsseldorf‑Urdenbach and absolutely loved it. The location by the Rhine is idyllic and quiet, with a lovely terrace that makes for a peaceful evening meal beside the water. The architecture feels historic yet refreshed—simple nautical hints, warm wood tones, and white tablecloth elegance create a welcoming but refined atmosphere. The menu offers a delightful mix of regional German and European‑Mediterranean cuisine. I tried the mixed fish platter, which was beautifully presented: the butterfish in particular was tender and flavorful, exactly how a riverside dining experience should be. The portions were generous and visually appealing. I also appreciated the seasonal local options—there were dishes like sauerbraten and a fine zander filet, each plated with a thoughtful sauce and fresh vegetables. Service was attentive without being intrusive. Waitstaff explained the menu, recommended a crisp white wine that complemented the fish beautifully, and checked in just the right amount—not rushed, not forgotten. The pace felt luxurious. We started with a light soup that came as a starter, which was a delicious surprise. For dessert, the crème brûlée and the house-made sorbets were a perfect light sweet finish—worth opting for a trio of small desserts to taste a few. Inside the dining room, tall windows offer sweeping views of the river and floodplain beyond. At sunset the glow is beautiful, and even if you sit inside, you don’t lose that connection to nature. The terrace tables are a highlight when the weather allows—quiet, breezy, and scenic, with boats drifting by as you dine. The ambiance struck a lovely balance: comfortable and low-key enough for a casual dinner, but classy enough to feel like a special outing. It’s not flashy or trendy—it’s more about quality, honesty, and the locale. Yes, the price point is higher than the average Düsseldorf eatery—main courses generally fall in the €25‑30 range, with starters and desserts adding on €10‑15 each, but the food quality is excellent and the portions are generous.

Unfortunately, there's no indication of kitchen hours. If the restaurant's website says it's open until 11 p.m., it's not okay that they only serve cold food at 8:30 p.m.

We had made early reservations for a large communion celebration with approximately 23 people – including multiple personal consultations and a set menu in advance. Expectations were correspondingly high, as we already knew the restaurant and had been impressed by both the location and the food. This made the disappointment on this special day all the greater. Despite the limited menu selection – with over 90% of our guests choosing the same main course – we waited over two hours for the main course. Particularly frustrating: tables that arrived significantly later had long since been served and had already finished eating while we continued to wait. Other groups also asked about the whereabouts of their food – so we weren't the only ones affected. In the end, completely frustrated, we decided to forgo dessert and abandon the meal. There was inadequate communication, and this only happened upon request. Later, the large number of guests was cited – not a satisfactory explanation for a celebration planned so early, but rather a misplanning of the service/scheduling. The only person who showed genuine understanding was a friendly lady at the bar. She made an effort, showed empathy, and gave us a voucher as a small gesture. From management or the boss: to this day, not a word, no personal apology, no feedback. Especially for a unique event like a communion, this is simply disappointing and sad. I generally only write reviews when I want to highlight something positive and am happy to support it with words of praise (see my previous reviews). It's an exception to express my negative opinion here – but unfortunately necessary in this case, as this experience should have been a uniquely beautiful day for our family. Conclusion: The food and ambiance are good – but the organization, schedule, communication, and especially the way guests were treated in difficult situations unfortunately left a lot to be desired. It's a real shame that our celebration was overshadowed like this.

Yes, definitely recommended. Delicious and creative cuisine. The corn-fed chicken saltimbocca was unusual, but beautifully balanced. The tarte tatin was classic French, delicious, and attractively presented. The waitress recommended a Lugana wine, which tasted magnificent and elegant. In keeping with the restaurant's style.

Four of us went to this restaurant yesterday. The table had been reserved a month in advance. The reservation was confirmed to us in writing. When we arrived, no table had been reserved for us. We were also not informed when we made the reservation that two large groups had reserved for the premises at the same time. We were then given a table at the edge, where there was a draft from the constantly opening entrance door and the general noise level was very loud. Furthermore, staff were constantly walking past our table to serve the guests of both groups. The overall atmosphere was like that of a brewery. Unfortunately, these circumstances completely ruined the positive impression we had of this restaurant three months earlier.

The Alte Fischerhaus is a great place for a great meal. The food is delicious, the atmosphere is inviting, and the service is friendly. I can recommend this place to everyone.

The dishes are very tasty and well-presented. The fish is very fresh. The prices are high, but the quality of the food is worth it. We were just unlucky that it was very busy, and we didn't get our main course until over an hour after the starter. Definitely a recommendation.

A special kind of Easter menu We came to dinner early in the evening with four people. The first unpleasant surprise was that there was only one menu (menu for 59€/person) and orders a la carte were not possible. This restriction was not pointed out either on the website or in the restaurant itself. We were told this rather brusquely by the waitress. Because of the limited selection of food, we placed our drink and menu orders at the same time. The drink, a greeting from the kitchen and the soup were served at the same time. In order not to let the soup get cold, there was hardly any time to deal with the little things in the kitchen. About two minutes after clearing the starter plates, we were given the main course. We asked the waiter for a half-hour break for dessert, otherwise we would probably have been dispatched within a very short time. Overall, it was a not very pleasant experience and one had the impression that the table should be cleared for subsequent customers as quickly as possible.

Were here for the first time. The food was absolutely excellent. When the sun is shining, a place on the terrace with a view of the Rhine is wonderful. A little bit more attention from the staff would be great. But basically nothing to complain about!

We were at the Altes Fischerhaus restaurant on Easter Monday after a change of operator, this review does not refer to the normal menu but to the Easter menu, there were 3 starters, a main course and a dessert including a small amuse guelle for €59.90. The staff was very friendly and attentive, the restaurant has been brightened up with warm colors. Starters included: lobster cappucchino, cream of asparagus soup with crabs and mushrooms and quail fry ratatouille. The main courses were fillet of beef with potato gratin and vegetables, lamb shank with triplets and ratatouille, and wild salmon with saffron risotto and colorful vegetables. The desserts: Mixed dessert with an espresso, panna cotta on mango compote and Dubai pistachio chocolate tart. All dishes tasted good, next time I would like to choose from the standard menu.

The kitchen is top notch! The portions are huge! The prices are great! The service and interior are also at the same level. It was a shame it was cool, as there were tables outside overlooking the Rhine. I highly recommend this place!

After the new owner took over, the old fisherman's house has completely changed in a positive way. The pleasant, upscale atmosphere, the always friendly service and, last but not least, the excellent food make every visit an unforgettable experience. We'd love to come back.

Unfortunately I can't say anything about the food, but the boss's statement that cyclists are not welcome here was enough for us. I find it very sad to hear such things from the staff.

In the past, we've often been guests at the Fischerhaus for all sorts of occasions and were always very satisfied. After it closed, we tried the new Fischerhaus on March 19, 2025. Our impressions were consistently positive, as the photos posted here show. Unfortunately, the food didn't quite convince us. Perhaps we were there at an inopportune time. Okay, we'll give the restaurant another chance and come back soon 🤔 We'll see...

We started our evening with an aperitif on the terrace at sunset - simply sensational! The atmosphere right on the water is fantastic and invites you to linger. The food was an absolute highlight: prepared with a lot of love, tasted excellent and beautifully presented. Plus an unbeatable ambience that perfectly underlines the charm of the house. The service was fantastic - attentive, friendly and professional. We felt completely comfortable and are already looking forward to our next visit. Absolutely recommended!

The shop was almost empty at 5 p.m. on Saturday, hardly any guests, but it was still rejected because so many guests were still expected with a reservation. Let him who wants it understand it.

We celebrated a family celebration (16 people) in the Fischerhaus. We had filled out the event contract in advance and entered our food/drink requests (aperitif). A week before the celebration we went to the restaurant again to reminisce. Unfortunately, on the day of the celebration, the service was very poor and the staff was unprepared. There was no aperitif; We had to wait a long time for the starter; 2 hours passed between starter and main course. The waiters only asked for drinks three times in the entire time. We had to forego dessert due to time constraints. At least the bill remained manageable 😉 But the food was delicious.

A fantastic restaurant, the best service and the food cooked to perfection and of excellent quality. The view is also a dream. Unfortunately, my era of years will soon be coming to an end and there will be a change in the restaurant. So I have to go there very quickly and often!! It's been a while since my review and the tenant has changed since 2024. Therefore I can't say anything about the current offer yet. When we can be nearby again, we will try the restaurant again in its new "dress"...

I've been there three times in a row now and I'm totally thrilled. First-class quality of the food including appearance, and a very friendly team. Great elegant ambience, from the furnishings to the music. The journey from Leverkusen is worth it! The large parking lot at the restaurant and the beautiful location directly on the Rhine are also ideal! We'll be back soon!

During Advent we ordered roast goose for over 35 euros per person. Unfortunately, both the goose breast and the goose leg were so tough and hard that you couldn't eat them! After our complaint, the waitress brought us new pieces of meat, but they were the same as before. We have already refrained from making another complaint because we have found that this chef doesn't get any better. Since we were still hungry, we at least ordered drinks: cocoa, cappuccino and green tea. Unfortunately even the drinks couldn't be drunk. The cocoa was so thin that even the color was pale, the cappuccino tasted like nothing and the tea had too much water in it for a small tea bag. Conclusion: we don't go there anymore, although after the renovation and the takeover by a new team the restaurant has become very nice, but you go there to have a good meal and not just to admire the place

So if you want to go there on New Year's Eve with Leiber's children, don't. It good. Only 1 table for 4 people and they are kidding people by saying yes, reserve but when you say there are children there they say it's all reserved. It's really terrible... that as a small family it puts you at the side of society.

Not suitable for vegans! According to telephone AND personal inquiries, there should be a separate vegan menu. Unfortunately wrong! The waiter didn't know what to do with the term "vegan" and recommended a fish dish. The menu also promises vegan options upon request. However, these turned out to be just a combination of side dishes.

2024 and new operator: My wife's birthday, a Saturday at 6:00 p.m., we had a table reservation for 2 people for 6:00 p.m. After about 10 minutes of waiting at the door, still wearing a coat, with waiters constantly rushing past, someone finally came to ask about the reservation and then hurried off again without a word for 5 minutes. After what felt like an endless wait at the door, we had the impression that there was no table available despite my reservation. We were then placed in a side/service room outside the kitchen without any further explanation. The same thing happened to a group of 4 people who arrived at the same time. Our table was in the middle of the waiters' preparation area in front of the bar in the passage with visual and olfactory kitchen contact; Due to operational reasons, it was no more comfortable than in a train station hall. We didn't want to wait until another table became available, which was offered to us because of our dissatisfaction, and preferred to spontaneously go to another restaurant. It was a lovely evening. Just not in the Old Fisherman's House. The food in the Fischerhaus is probably quite good, which we couldn't determine or evaluate. However, I would recommend having a table reservation confirmed by telephone shortly before the appointment. 2022: Valentine's menu. Tasty, well put together, first class service, the atmosphere is very nice.

Das Essen ist hervorragend. Egal ob Fisch oder Fleisch, alles wird perfekt zubereitet. Der Service nett und nicht steif. Sehr schöne Aussicht. Kostenlose Parkplätze stehen direkt am Restaurant zur Verfügung. Einzig die Einrichtung des Restaurants finde ich nicht schön. Da gibt es bei uns im Bekanntenkreis aber auch andere Meinungen.

Einen seit Tischreservierung mehrfach erwähnten, sehr hohen runden Geburtstag bei der Ansprache/Begrüßung, beim Abendessen & der Tischdekoration restlos zu ignorieren, spricht für das Gesamtkonzept. Hier trifft viel Ambition (ja, die Renovierung ist gelungen!) auf schlechte Umsetzung. Die nicht vorhandene, den Anlass hätte würdigende Deko und das Verhalten mal ausblendend: Sehr kleine Pastaportionen (5 gefüllte Ravioli), totgebratener, trockener Senfrostbraten (medium bestellt), Kalbsleber mit Pestosauce (??) garniert, ungewürztes Rumpsteak, … uninspirierte x-fach wechselnde Bedienungen, die sehr lange auf sich warten lassen, wenig auskunftsfähig sind, sich mehr mit Ihren kleinen Bestell-Handhelds und miteinander beschäftigen, als sich um den Gast zu kümmern, gerne mal „über den Tisch“ bedienen, sowie Gläser und Besteck vergessen. Insgesamt kein professioneller Eindruck, zumal sich auch das gastronomische Gesamtkonzept nicht wirklich erschließt - mediterran, lokal, Fisch, Fusion?? Nach mehrmonatigem Betrieb des neuen „Alten Fischerhauses“ sind derlei Schwächen sicherlich nicht mit Startproblemen zu begründen, sondern liegen irgendwo zwischen „nicht können“ und „nicht wollen“ und lassen einen weiteren Besuch dort wenig verlockend erscheinen.

The good food here is complemented by the super friendly service. Here you will even received personally by the boss. In summer you can enjoy a bottle of wine from the diverse range on the terrace.

It was our first time in the Fischerhaus and we were really impressed. The next time is already being planned!!!

PLEASE revise your reservation system. In 2024 there must be a better alternative to "calling 10 times until someone answers the phone." Were enthusiastic regulars of the old fisherman's house, but having to redial every time for 20 minutes until someone answers the phone is extremely annoying, to say the least.

Doesn't work anymore after reopening. The service is underground. We are from the immediate neighborhood and wanted to test out the new location. We were not greeted by the staff on the terrace but were seated at a table. Shortly afterwards we were told to leave the (unset) table again because we had a reservation. Also, please don't sit on the porch. We then canceled our visit and left. Apparently the service here is already overwhelmed by the reception of the guests. The card is rather ordinary and normal. You won't find the French and Mediterranean specialties described on the internet. For us it means we just give one star and listen to what the neighbors say. So far we have not heard any positive feedback in our area. Addendum for the second attempt: The food was good. The service is still subpar. Monotonously, inattentively, slowly. And above all, unfriendly. Most service staff have their faces clenched into a fist and the smile is only turned on for a few seconds and does not reach the eyes. At the indoor counter you are completely ignored as a guest

There were 6 of us there and everyone was very happy with their food. Only the price for a glass of Füchschen Alt 0.25 liters is a bit too expensive at 3.20 euros. The glass is available at the Brauhaus Düsseldorf for 2.85 euros.
