Exzellente Deutsche Küche im "Alten Krug" mitten in Dahlem. Uriges Ambiente im alten Haus Nähe des U-Bahnhof Dahlem Dorf. Immer einen Besuch wert! Köstlich!

I ordered the Wiener Schnitzel but apparently the cook lost his hammer because what i got had not been pounded thin but was a thick piece of meat. I was too engaged in conversation to say anything but really you'd think the waitress would have said something.

The liver à la stroganoff from the lunch menu was good, but the quantity was also very manageable. The cabbage roulade was also ok, but 4 sticks of asparagus with scrambled eggs and a few loveless boiled potatoes for around €26 are very reasonable in terms of price. The service was attentive and friendly. Unfortunately the air in the room was very bad late at lunchtime. It's lovely to sit in the large beer garden. But due to the price-performance ratio, we will refrain from visiting again.

In the self-service beer garden there is nice seating, delicious food and drink and friendly staff behind the counter.

The food is good. It's a shame that we got the wrong food and there was a discussion with us that we hadn't ordered correctly.

We enjoyed going to this restaurant. Just because of the garden. I have known this restaurant for over 45 years. It's never been as bad as it is now. The corn plaice was not appetizing... the ham was burnt and the plaice had no taste at all. The potatoes are overcooked. The prices are exorbitantly EXPENSIVE. If you can't cope with the rush of guests... you should rethink your concept and not just think about making money. I won't be coming back even though I've known this atmosphere for a good 45 years

Unfortunately the price-performance ratio here is no longer right!!!!! The quality of the food leaves a lot to be desired. The portions are clearly arranged and carelessly prepared. And the prices are not justified. Our feeling is not unique, we have given several chances and will not dine there again. Too bad

The most beautiful thing here was the location, beautiful beer garden. The food was really not good, the “fried chicken@” was two small slices of breaded chicken fillets, estimated at 120g, with potato salad for a whopping €23!!!. We actually wanted to eat asparagus, but asparagus with schnitzel for €40 cannot be justified. Even with organic quality, which is not the case here, it would be an outrage!

The portions are really very economical for the steep prices. 2.5 small potatoes with the 2 Königsberger Klopsen for 20 euros is a bit embarrassing. The Wednesday steak for 14.90 looks good on the menu, but was cut extremely thin, with the number of fries appearing counted. Nobody was really full, not even the kids. The taste was ok. Staff was friendly and quick, ambience was good when the weather was nice. I'd happily go back for a beer, but I'd eat somewhere else.

Cake for more than €5 was still frozen and was returned. Had to wait a long time for service. There were also leftover lipstick on the glasses for our Aperol Spritz (from the bottle). Not recommended

We had dinner there at Easter with 6 people. It was full, hectic. Food came to the table differently than what one person had ordered, one meal was totally over salted, but was replaced after a complaint. Maybe on normal days, when the staff isn't overloaded, things work better there. It was our first time there, and of course you're thinking about going there again.

The restaurant is very nice and has a good atmosphere, the food is very delicious and the staff are very Mertes, we will come back again.

The service was nice and polite, but made promises that were not implemented. In addition, water bottles are "forced" on you right away. You're just sitting down, the menu is handed to you and water is immediately suggested to you. Price-performance isn't really there. Asparagus was still firm, one schnitzel was oversalted and the rest is a matter of taste. Toilets looked bad for such an atmosphere *of course it's the guests who can't behave* but the empty toilet paper cores flew around and there was a strange shelf there that didn't fit. So as I said about the price of the dishes.

As I'm clearing away, I mention the missing salad again, then I'm offered to pack it up to take away. Great idea! I get a cappuccino on the house and a lecture on why things can no longer be regulated differently in terms of cash registers. So instead of a side dish (€6.90), which I would have liked to eat with the fish, I get a cappuccino and not even an apology from the waitress, who was annoyed from the start. That's it for us with the jug.

Unfortunately, the asparagus (my first this season) with fried egg and hollandaise sauce and parmesan was missing. Unfortunately, my request for the sauce was also forgotten (even though it wasn't particularly busy) and only the second request was processed. I had to let the last asparagus stick get cold until the hollandaise sauce was served without apology. And it certainly wasn't made by hand. At a price of €27.50, it's a shame. The liver ordered by my partner was very good.

Always good and comfortable. The garden pavilion is now open again.

Expensive prices for fine dining

There's a lot to be said for the restaurant, apart from the good, but not outstanding, food at fairly reasonable prices.

The wonderful location of the restaurant away from the hustle and bustle of the big city means that, in addition to very good food, you can also enjoy... both inside and out feel the taste of nature in a nice garden. A Bavarian-style pub, almost iconic. The food and atmosphere are amazing.

I had to be careful eating and waiting for the drinks for about an hour. The ambience is good, but my food wasn't really tasty either, considering the prices.☹️☹️☹️

Food is average,, 3 stars is already too much for it. Basically boiled potatoes, boiled Spargel, Rührei , and hollandaise sauce for 26€ . No creativity whatsoever. Service is good and fast. Problem with card payment because their system was too slow. Wi-Fi didn't work either, therefore 4 stars. The atmosphere looks good. 4 stars for that. Overall 4 stars

The three of us had dinner here in the evening and only made a personal and uncomplicated reservation in the afternoon. The tiled stove in particular contributed to a cozy atmosphere in the room, which was characterized by lots of wood. The food was excellent (the best schnitzel I've ever had) and plentiful. The service was very friendly and quick, never intrusive and gave us friendly advice. Thank you!

Today we were surprised at the Alten Krug, I always had good memories from my last visits. The service was very pleasant and friendly and the prices were all reasonable. The food was okay, it came very quickly, but you can tell that it was convenience food. The mashed potatoes tasted like they came out of a bag, the sauce was also somehow ready and the cabbage rolls had some kind of taste. So the chef wasn't particularly imaginative. Half the duck was too dry, the red cabbage lacked acid, and the salmon was unfortunately completely over salted. Unfortunately, the initially attentive service did not respond to the complaint. The food there is just too expensive for that… The Kaiserschmarren for dessert, however, was very good and saves the third star.

Won't come back, risotto is really soft and dry. I've eaten risotto before but it's not risotto at all. Food plate was really dirty. Have to pay attention to hygiene and cleanliness.

The old jug is located at Queen - Luise - Str. 52, in 14195 Berlin. In this respect, the aforementioned restaurant is a historic inn in Berlin Dahlem, with a beer garden, restaurant and a room for events and wedding celebrations. I drank various good beers there and ate a pike-perch fillet. Both were very delicious. The staff is very friendly, helpful, socially competent and very valuable. We were very happy with the food and the service. Unfortunately, there was a lot of cleaning going on during our stay, including in the dining room. We couldn't really enjoy the food due to the strong smell of the cleaning product.

Price performance okay. Classic: Viennese veal schnitzel. Nice beer garden in summer.

A traditional restaurant that I visit from time to time. The atmosphere is rustic and tasteful. This time we had 1/4 duck for lunch with the usual side dishes. The dish was tasty and the price-performance ratio was good. Unfortunately we had to wait quite a long time for food.

Service is very attentive. Food was very good. The goose and duck were very tasty! The apple strudel was perfect.

The restaurant lives by its old name. Boxing Day. Reservation only with a 50 € deposit, which will only be charged if the original receipt is presented (don't you have a copy there?). You can't decide where you want to sit when you make your reservation. The rooms are crammed to the hilt. It's terribly tight. The menu prices, which were already high in previous years, are now astronomical (almost €90 per person). So we only took the main courses. They were still very expensive (no dish under €55!) The quality was good, but still didn't justify the price. However, the intended vegetarian dish was no longer available; instead, vegetable side dishes from another dish were offered. The Christmas dessert was boring (chocolate cake with 1 scoop of walnut ice cream) and there was no choice. But the food came very quickly and the service was nice, hence at least 2 stars. Unfortunately, overall, no recommendation. There are better things at cheaper prices in southwest Berlin - even at Christmas.

The restaurant is very popular and was very busy on the afternoon of the 3rd Advent. The management at the entrance was well organized and the staff were consistently friendly and competent. We were lucky enough to sit in one of the smaller side rooms. In the large hall, the background noise is a problem for those with poor hearing. The food was okay in varying degrees. My beef fillet strips were rather mediocre. However, the Kaiserschmarrn was very good.

Familien Weihnachtsessen Nicht zu empfehlen, im hinteren Raum kommt man sich vor wie im Tagungshotel. Essen mittelmäßig, dafür völlig überteuert ! Weinpreise ebenfalls völlig überzogen.

The Christmas goose was a disaster! Eating at the Alter Krug is a thing of the past for us forever.

We went there with our whole team (around 14 people) to eat goose. Unfortunately, the waiters were rather annoyed and disorganized. Maybe it was all just too much. The food was mediocre. I came based on a recommendation and really hoped for more.

A location that has everything you need to feel good. The employees were very nice and accommodating, and the waiter assigned to us also had a good dose of humor and fun. There was nothing wrong with the food - it was good and high quality at a fair price. The ambience reflected the feeling of a restaurant from Bavaria/Austria. An all-round harmonious restaurant that was absolutely worth the visit. A reservation is highly recommended.

The food was tasty but the portions were far too small and no one at the table was full. The staff was visibly stressed and relatively rude. We felt treated very degradingly, our reserved table was moved at short notice and it felt like we were being “deported” to the winter garden. We only had 2 tickets and 1 drink ticket for 6 people. A dish at our table was completely forgotten and only brought when we asked when we had already eaten, and without any apology. Portions of the goose were different for 2 people, one had a leg + breast, the other had 2 legs. Generally not a pleasant atmosphere, we left straight after dinner. It was a small company Christmas party and we actually wanted to stay a while. Big disappointment because we wanted to treat ourselves to something from our long-collected tips.

We always like to eat at the Alten Krug as a couple or with friends. The food is always excellent, the service is always competent and friendly! Keep it up! We are already looking forward to the next visit!

Christmas party with 100 people on December 5th, 2024 Agreements in advance were very difficult and with a very rude tone. Agreements were not kept E.g. mulled wine and alcohol. Free punch for the aperitif, there was only punch Table decorations (fir branches and candles) promised free of charge by the owner and the restaurant manager. Not even 1 candle per table of 8 was provided. Water bottles were supposed to be placed on the tables, which was also the case, but unfortunately the red wine was simply placed on the tables and white wine was only brought upon request from the guests. We had agreed on a flat rate for drinks that was valid until 10.30 p.m., but after 10 p.m. there was no more water because the quota had been exhausted. The allergy dessert was missing from the menu. Should then be asked at the table. The service manager for our event went from table to table yelling "Allergies?" None of the guests understood what it was about at that moment. The food was good, not top quality but really ok. We had agreed to pay in advance because we didn't want to pay a 5-figure amount at the end of the event. Despite multiple inquiries from us regarding the advance payment invoice, there was no response at all - as is usually the case. At the end of the event, the service manager detained the last guests and forced them to pay the entire bill with their private credit cards. Went there the next day to complain. The only thing we can say is that we can't explain how this all happened. No accommodation, apology or anything like that. Upscale gastronomy - totally non-existent

Enttäuschend! Das Restaurant voll gestopft mit Tischen eng an eng, der Lärmpegel unerträglich, weil viel zu voll, alle brüllen fast. Ewiges Warten auf Bedienung, um wenigstens die Karte zu bekommen! Wieder Warten um die Bestellung aufzugeben… einziges Highlight : eine indische überaus freundliche junge Bedienung. Das Essen : für den Preis zu einfach- Fertigspätzle, lieblose Teller, sehr durchschnittliches Essen. Ein sehr ärgerlicher Abend. Die Hälfte der Tische, mehr Aufmerksamkeit statt Masse und man könnte den Kunden durch besseres Essen statt Durchschnitt in den Fokus stellen. Hier geht es nur um Abfertigung!

Very friendly welcome, nice, super-friendly service. The food came surprisingly quickly and was extremely delicious, especially the half duck. The restaurant was busy for a Tuesday, reservations are definitely recommended.

It was a very special experience. After we were first told to take a deep breath by a very brash waiter, we waited a good 25 minutes until we could place an order. The food came quicker than the drinks. The roast goose for €38.50 was served with a dumpling and red and kale. This will certainly be our last visit to this restaurant. Such impossible behavior spoiled my appetite and my evening.

Wenn wir vom Bodensee nach Berlin reisen, kommen wir am Alten Krug nicht vorbei. Die leckersten Haxen, Salate, Soßen...was das Herz begehrt. Dazu ein kühles Bier und alles ist in bester Ordnung. Der Service ist schnell und sehr zuvorkommend. "Berliner Schauze" kriegt man hier auch. Aber auf sehr sympathische Art. Lieben Dank, wir kommen eh wieder.

The Alte Krug is definitely an institution and recommended for everyone who likes something hearty. The menu is so extensive that you can find something, with meat dishes making up the majority and vegetables being more of a side dish than a centerpiece. The portions are generous - matching the prices. The service is great, the team has a sense of humor and keeps their nerve even when things are busy.

UNFORTUNATELY it has happened SEVERAL times lately that lunch is no longer available 1-2 hours before the end. In the past, alternative dishes were offered. Now the only impression is that the cheapest lunch prices are being enticed and the customer then has to order from the expensive menu. After we all got off work early today, the frustration was too great and we left without ordering. Because of this unreliability, my son had to start his late shift without food... This can also scare away regular customers (who came 3-4 times a week)!
