I can only recommend... If you wish, you can also get small portions. The service is a dream... If I'm in Kiel again, I'll go there again... The schnitzel and the sauce were to die for...

Delicious food, nice service, good price-performance ratio, the old smoking ovens and the furnishings create a special ambience.

Certainly the first address in Ellerbek. The former fish smokehouse offers the room height for tolerable acoustics, and the black smoking chambers on the back wall convey authenticity. Upscale, down-to-earth cuisine, fish and meat. Good and affordable wine by the glass.

Nice restaurant where everyone from grandma to granddaughter can get their money's worth. I come here regularly with my family because the menu and the rustic but not old-fashioned atmosphere appeal to all ages. The prices are okay for the quality. Every now and then there are slight fluctuations in the quality of the food, but they are not so serious that it still doesn't taste good. Everyone also really enjoyed the varied brunch buffet. I particularly like that there are a few special beers on the menu.

Yesterday I was invited to a big birthday at the Alte Räucherei in Ellerbek. It was an all-round successful evening with great food & delicious drinks, super attentive service and a cozy, warm atmosphere. The extensive buffet was really delicious, the dishes were sophisticated and lovingly prepared. Overall, the smokehouse team really delivered! Thank you for the great evening! Ps: I know from my own experience that lunch here is also highly recommended!

Old smokehouse Ellerbek - Restaurant Friendly service Ordering drinks and service was quite quick, and very attentive to reordering during the evening. I liked the food, cordon bleu, fries, "greens" and hollandaise sauce. Prices ok so far. Ambiance OK, rustic cozy. Tables are well spaced out in the restaurant, not so close together.

Super tasty food and really nice owner. Highly recommended for small and large groups! Not only excellent service, but also commitment to sailing (Opti League).

We had a good time here for the second time. To start there was the mixed appetizer platter. Here the two of us shared the amount for one person, which was completely sufficient. The main course was followed by the “Schnitzel Holsteiner Style” and the “large smoked fish platter”. Both dishes were well prepared and very tasty. There are only small deductions due to the lack of supply. For both the main courses and the desserts, some of the dishes available on the menu were no longer available. It's always a shame when you choose a dish several times and then it's no longer available.

So I can't recommend the place!! I was traveling as part of the Schlemmerblock. After what felt like half an hour we ordered 2 schnitzels with mushroom sauce and fries. Smooth 6 The schnitzels were so thin that if they hadn't been breaded you would have been able to see through them. The potatoes served with it (should have been fries) were probably thrown raw into the fat and left there until you only had fat deposits in your mouth. No, that doesn't work at all!!!! We give it a straight 6 for

The external impression may be deceiving at first glance. An old brick factory building on the side of the road. But inside it has charm and the food was absolutely outstanding! A successful farewell dinner after a wonderful holiday.

Hidden paradise A really great restaurant with very tasty food. From schnitzel, burgers to fish. I ate a cordon bleu with a great breading and cheddar as cheese in the schnitzel. In summer there is a cozy beer garden in the inner courtyard. Highly recommended

Since we didn't have a reservation, we had to wait about an hour for a table. But it was worth it. Whether it's a starter or a main course, top quality is really good. The innkeeper gave us two more distribution boxes because we had to wait so long. Super nice. Staff very friendly. Gladly again but with reservation

I ate schnitzel hollandaise today and was really looking forward to it. The schnitzel was as thin as paper and the fried potatoes were dripping with fat. It was unreasonable, now I have to take a stomach tablet. My husband had a Galloway burger. Upon request, if the burger was too was big enough, we were told: definitely, they will definitely be full!!!!😉We couldn't think of that. The burger was a joke and then overpriced. In short: it's not possible!!!

Lots of interesting dishes to choose from that all seem to be prepared with care. Good food at reasonable prices served with kindness and attention.

The first thing you noticed was the smell of smokehouse, which is part of the charm. The food was delicious and not the run-of-the-mill taste and nice and hot. The service was friendly.

Very tasty restaurant located high in the north (Kiel). We ate fish, once panfish with a very tasty mustard sauce, fried potatoes 😋 grilled vegetables and the second dish was the pike fillet. We had very friendly service, the service was attentive and quick. If we are in Kiel again we would be happy to come back.

Very nice atmosphere with friendly staff. There are around 6 parking spaces in the backyard. With luck you can also park easily on the side streets. We had ordered bruschetta in advance. Very lovingly arranged on a slate plate, nothing to complain about in terms of taste. For the main course we had the rum steak and the chicken schnitzel. The rump steak was served with herb butter (tasted like homemade herb butter), fries and a small salad (fresh). The doneness was as desired. The chicken schnitzel was also served with fries and salad. Both very tasty, we'll be back!

The best restaurant on the east bank of Kiel! The food is super tasty and the portions are generous. Special requests are welcomed and you are always served with a smile.

The ambience is something special, we like it very much. The food is really delicious and the price is not cheap, but reasonable for the quality. The Hamburger Panfish is great! The service was very nice and accommodating. We really enjoy eating there. The restaurant is also suitable for larger groups.

Very tasty food. I can especially recommend the fish dishes to everyone. The service was nice and courteous, even in a chatty mood. When it comes to the ambience, you have to be aware that it is an old industrial company in an industrial area. Anyone expecting cosiness and cozy niches will be disappointed.

I had the “Alte Räucherei” grill pan and two pilsners from the barrel. But the sauce was completely over-peppery and the consistency was also very flaky. The beef had a very strong flavor to it that I couldn't quite place, and the other two meats were fine. The beer was cold and tasty, but unfortunately quite stale. Service was top and the atmosphere was also very nice. When the restaurant is full, the place is very loud.

We come here at least once a year. Then we'll be there for lunch. The portions are great. You will definitely be full. On the website you can inquire in advance about the lunch menu for a period of 2 weeks. But there are also delicious alternatives that are not really more expensive. When it comes to the ambience, I can say that I like it when a business tells a story. She does. It's an old fish smokehouse. The ovens can still be seen. Simply class. The staff is always friendly. Cozy atmosphere with always very nice and attentive service. Price-performance ratio is definitely right. The food was always tasty and plentiful. Good, down-to-earth dishes - guaranteed to have something for every taste. Many regional providers are included. I also think it's nice that the old smoking ovens are still there and pictures show everything from back then. Be sure to check out the homepage www.alte-räucherei.de, because there are also various (music) events taking place in the old smokehouse. For example, we were told The Irish Folk evening was highly recommended - we ordered Irish Shepard Pie (very tasty). Last time there were a number of musicians, including a harp, at the start. Next plan is to test Sunday brunch.

Rustic and cozy atmosphere. The food was top from the starter to the dessert! Fresh fish, farmer's breakfast, currywurst with homemade curry sauce, burgers, mascapone cream, chocolate cake simply delicious! We will be back! Unfortunately we were back again. The meat ordered medium was cooked through, the pan fish was so roasted on one side that it was almost burnt. Unfortunately the salmon was also very dry. The prices were increased, which would be fundamentally appropriate if the goods were tip top, but unfortunately that wasn't the case this time. Mannheimers could also buy cappuccino, espresso or similar. The machine broke at Easter. A pity!

A thoroughly recommended restaurant. Friendly service, delicious food with good value for money and, above all, very family-friendly. A great little corner with a sufficiently large selection of toys and children's chairs so that even the little ones can enjoy their stay. Attracted by positive feedback, we now set off for Ellerbek. We were looking for a nice, friendly restaurant with good food. Have we found it? Let's say conditionally. The food was quite ok. Unfortunately, the price is still within the usual range today. Cheap and good food was yesterday. The “Old Smokehouse” looks very old. The wood-bound menus have seen better days. Unfortunately there weren't enough and so one of us had to wait for a free ticket. We could already tell that the waitress was very inattentive because she was initially alone in the dining room, which wasn't even half full. At some point we were able to order burgers, salads and schnitzel from the very extensive menu. The waiting times were ok. At some point the drinks came. Bottled Coke, that's good. Alster with a lot of effervescence, well. Meanwhile another employee had received the service. She at least had an apron and was identified as a service worker. The colleague in jeans and a sweater seemed tired, slow and unmotivated. In general, the mood was languid, underlined by piano music in the background. No feel-good atmosphere. At some point the food came. Unfortunately only 2 of 3 dishes. The burger was noted, but was forgotten and delivered much later. Happened. But it also underlines what is going wrong. Outside on the veranda the cooks took turns smoking. Only one had a chef's jacket, the others were in everyday clothes. The smoke drifted through the open kitchen door into the dining room. Somehow nothing fit together. There was little motivation. Downfall or default setting. Not a nice evening for us. After eating it took forever until it was cleared away. Dessert/coffee was not asked for. We then sat for a while with empty glasses. We weren't asked for any more drinks. We paid and left without a word. Oh yes, the food. The dishes were ok. Burger good, salad ok and schnitzel fried in too little oil and very dark here and there. But knocked yourself. You can do it. Conclusion: Not worth another visit for me. Not a place to spend a nice evening.

The restaurant is generally decorated in a pleasant style with a subtle ambience. The dishes didn't convince me; the fried potatoes were fried very unevenly and were swimming in oil. The burger was very small and there was just a small bowl of fries for an extra charge of €3 (for the €16.80 burger). The dish that attracted me to this restaurant in the first place (Irish Shepards Pie) was not available that evening. The drinks weren't cheap either, my non-alcoholic beer cost 0.33

Very cozy and there are also delicious little things

Nice atmosphere, nice staff and great food. We spontaneously decided to eat here and don't regret it at all. We called in advance to ask for a table and that was possible. Our food was on the table after just 20 minutes. Hot and delicious. We can really only recommend this.

The furnishings are rustic and elegant. The food was great, with home-made fries (that's what I'm saying). A Holsteiner schnitzel as it should be. There was nothing wrong with the service. Friendly and attentive.

The service was very friendly. The food, however, was an absolute disaster... Unfortunately, it started with the drinks that the simple ingredients were no longer in stock. That can happen sometimes, but it lasted the whole evening. For the starter, the ingredients for the salad weren't even available and something salad-like was improvised, it was fresh and still delicious :( Unfortunately the food didn't get any better with the main course, which took a long time to arrive. There was also a salad missing for the main course and nothing as a replacement? The vegetables just seemed to be frozen vegetables. For the price it really isn't possible! And I didn't find the actual ingredients described on the memory card on my plate. (Walnut cauliflower schnitzel) For the other main course (Irish Shapard's Pie) The ingredients were completely wrong as described on the menu! According to the menu, strips of beef, onions, carrots should be braised in Guinness. But instead came beef and pork cubes in some watery with mushrooms something? That was a bit unsavory. And the mashed potatoes under the cheese weren't there either. Overall, both dishes were completely wrong. When we brought it up we were offered a different dish or a discount. No apology and that from the manager. Furthermore, the prices of the memory card on the website do not match the memory card in the restaurant. On the whole, it is really “not” recommended to eat here.

Very large selection, authentic atmosphere

Hatte tatsächlich noch Hunger nach dem Burgerchen... Aber die Süßkartoffelfritten haben es wieder rausgerissen;-). Ansonsten eine Empfehlung, gehen wir bestimmt wieder mal hin!

Die alte Räucherei ist definitiv einen Besuch Wert. Das Essen war gut und preiswert. Auch für unsere größere Gruppe war Platz. Es gibt Sonderaktionen wie einen Osterbrunch , motto Abende oder Brettspiel Tage. Definitiv ein Gewinn für das Ostufer. Unsere Gutscheine aus dem a la carte wurden Problemlos anerkannt.

Gemütliches Ambiente, netter und gut gelaunter Service sowie sehr leckeres Essen. Empfehlenswert für ein Familienessen, mit Freunden oder Kollegen. Einen Stern Abzug gibt es, da wir bereits vorbestellt hatten und dennoch eine ganze Stunde warten mussten. Trotzdem ein schöner Abend und ich würde wiederkommen.

Obwohl das Essen bestellt war, haben wir lange gewartet. Das Essen selbst war sehr gut. Ich persönlich hätte gerne ein wenig mehr Fleisch für das Geld auf dem Teller gehabt. Wir hatten eine nette Servicekraft. Der Kollege wirkte etwas genervt. Das Ambiente ist ganz cool, die Musik etwas nervig. Freitagabend war gut was los, sodass sich eine Reservierung empfiehlt. Das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis ist gut. Das Schnitzel war sehr gut, die Pommes etwas kross. Das Fleisch der Pfanne war etwas trocken, Beilagen und Soße lecker. Wir kommen wieder, würden uns dann aber an Schnitzel und Burger halten.

Super service! Portion genau richtig, sodass man auch noch Lust auf ein Dessert hat. Fisch war super lecker. Ich empfehle das Restaurant auf jeden Fall gerne weiter.

Für den Service müsste man 6Sterne oder mehr vergeben, einfach top! Ich kam gegen 17:30Uhr ins Lokal, es war wenig los, ich war mit meinem Sohn (5Jahre) dort. Der sehr unaufdringlich freundliche Kellner...empfahl mir den Tisch in der Nähe Spielecke....super nett! Wir waren mit dem Gutscheinbuch dort, wir kommen ohne wieder. Das Essen war ebenfalls sehr gut! Wir hatten Gallowayburger...mmhh

Leckeres Essen. Bedienung ist freundlich und fragt immer wieder nach. Lockerer Umgang. Nur Parkplatz- das ist Mangelware.

Nur zu empfehlen...ganz ganz liebe Inhaber mit unglaublich liebenswerten Mitarbeitern in der Küche und hinterm bzw.vorm Tresen. Lecker Essen...wunderschöne Location und den Weg zur Toilette kann jeder überwinden der auf zwei Beinen gehen kann. Für Rollstühle und Gehhilfen daher nicht so geeignet.

Tolles Essen gute Preise immer gern wieder

Das Essen ist qualitativ immer sehr gut. Leider manchmal für mich ein wenig knapp.

Wir waren nach der Neueröffnung zu viert, zum ersten Mal in der "alten Räucherei" .Wir haben einen Grillteller bestellt. Die Preise "wie in anderer Restaurants ebenso"nicht günstig"aber auch nicht zu teuer .Das Personal sehr freundlich und sehr aufmerksam. Man fühlte "Der Gast ist König". Zum Essen:die Süßkartoffelpommes sind ein Gedicht ,sehr empfehlenswert. Leider habe ich auch ein Manko .Die Bohnen waren teilweise holzig und die Fleischfilets ,zu klein .Ich hatte statt Rinderfilet ,2 Hühnchenfilets und ein Schweinefilets .Das Hühnchen war für meinen Geschmack zu durchgebraten .Hühnchen neigt dann dazu trocken zu werden,da muss man schon den richtigen Zeitpunkt abpassen,damit es saftig bleibt .Es steht in der Karte ,das man Bescheid sagen soll ,wenn etwas nicht so in Ordnung war ,das ist prima gedacht, aber man mag es denn doch nicht so tun ,besonders weil die Angestellten dort so freundlich waren. Bitte auch nicht falsch verstehen, wir werden auf alle Fälle wieder kommen und vielleicht mal etwas Anderes bestellen. Auch das Ambiente ist urig gemütlich .Wir haben uns dort wohl gefühlt.

Wir waren heute dort zum Essen und sind nicht enttäuscht worden... Beim Galloway Burger war das Brötchen etwas sehr krosch geraten, was ich der Bedienung aber auch gleich mitgeteilt hatte. Als wir mit dem Essen fertig waren, gab es als Entschädigung noch eine Nachspeise. Das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis stimmt auch. Der Service war aufmerksam und hatte immer einen flotten Spruch auf den Lippen. Uns hat es dort sehr gefallen und wir werden dort definitiv wieder essen gehen.

Interessante Location, Essen top, Service top. Wir waren am Dienstag dort und es war gut besucht, was man am Geräuschpegel messen konnte. Es sind nur wenige Parkplätze vorhanden. Doch wir kommen gern wieder 😊

Das Essen ist sehr lecker und die Bedienung ist sehr freundlich und immer cool drauf. Im Sommer sogar mit sehr netten Außenbereich sehr zu empfehlen! Egal ob alt ob jung ob alleine oder mit Kinder es wird für alle eine schöne Atmosphäre sein. Also wehr Hunger auf ein leckeres Schnitzel hat empfehle ich sehr die Räucherrei in Kiel Ellerbek hier werden sie was das Essen und alles weitere sehr zufrieden gestellt.
