Alte Post in Laufenburg (Baden)

The rooms are fine. Unfortunately, the walls are very thin. I was woken up in the night by someone with a bad cough and again in the morning by a family leaving very early. The restaurant is highly recommended.

Prime location right on the Rhine. Greek restaurant with good food and large portions. Delicious and very friendly.

We were there last month and are looking forward to another weekend. Everything is clean and everyone is very friendly.

So I was in a restaurant and ordered tagliatelle with salmon fillet and the salmon tasted so strange, it was very oily (please clean the grill!) and since I ate the salmon I've only had stomach pain and diarrhea for 2 days

Everything was great. I'll be back.

Unfortunately, there was something wrong with the food (Centauro plate, Laufenburg plate). We had diarrhea the entire next day. Our email about this was not responded to. Service was, as always, good and very fast.

Great place, food is good but nothing special, more geared towards mass-market options. However, the food comes very quickly. Tzatziki is tasteless. Comments are dealt with rather unprofessionally.

Great location with poor service – not even a single word "thank you" was mentioned when we tipped for no real reason, just out of politeness... because: Terribly bad food, like from an old chip shop. Charging such a price for a (clearly!) industrial schnitzel with orange-colored breading (ORANGE!) and soggy "chips" fried potatoes, which were just thrown into the fryer along with the schnitzel without any real cooking, is the lowest of the low. We won't eat there again; we'll go somewhere where we get something for our money that at least somewhat represents a nice change from cooking ourselves.

A spontaneous stop: delicious beer, great food (onion soup and sausage salad), and super friendly service. A view of the water, cold ouzo—what more could you want? Highly recommended!

We always enjoy coming back to the Wirtshaus Alte Post – whether for a romantic dinner for two or a cozy evening with friends. The view is simply fantastic, whether you sit inside or outside on the terrace. The service is always very friendly and attentive – simply top-notch! The portions are almost too large for my taste, but better that than too little. The menu is very diverse, perhaps almost a bit too large – I personally would prefer a smaller, more focused selection. It's always worth a visit – we'll be happy to come back!

The location directly on the Rhine was beautiful, the service friendly, and the breakfast very good. The room was quiet despite its proximity to the main road, and the beds were comfortable. The hotel even mailed me a plastic bag with my dirty clothes, a truly wonderful gesture.

We (a large group of eight) had a lovely evening at the Alte Post. The Jägerschnitzel with fries was delicious, and the Greek dishes – especially the warm appetizer plate and the vegetarian plate – were also really good. We particularly appreciated the large selection of vegetarian dishes. The service was excellent: super friendly, explained everything to us, and accommodated our requests. Unfortunately, the weather wasn't on our side, otherwise we would have preferred to sit outside – but it was also very cozy inside, with a great view of the Rhine. We were absolutely thrilled and will definitely be back!

Looks nice...unfortunately, you can't get a beer at 4:00 PM on Saturdays. They'd rather say it's break time. Apparently, it's working.

A place to feel good, rest, and relax. A wonderful garden restaurant right on the Rhine. A delight in the evenings. The staff is super friendly, enthusiastic, and very quick. The only thing that was good and deserved the star was the location with the garden restaurant and the beer. Service & food was an absolute disaster! - Being yelled at by the waitress because you said you got the wrong food. - The waitresses don't know what they want to serve and still expect you to somehow know by looking at them?! - I no longer got the right food (I couldn't eat anything because I didn't like what was served at all) and still had to pay for the more expensive food that I had actually ordered. If I were to list everything, the text would be too long. I went home hungry, and in the end I was still allowed to pay just under €60 PER PERSON?!? sheet metal.! I've never experienced anything like this before and I'm really angry.

I was traveling on business, there was enough parking space, the room was very good for the price and was renovated, it was centrally located, the place was easy to visit, the food was delicious, that's why I stayed overnight at the Greek restaurant, the service was good, the breakfast was enough, the view over CH was nice, I wish you continued success.

Basi, the owner, welcomes us with exceptional kindness and makes each visit special. The food is delicious, authentic and always fresh, with those Greek flavors that transport us directly to the Mediterranean. The atmosphere of the restaurant is cozy and cared for in detail, but if there is something that makes it even more special, it is its terrace. On sunny days, enjoying a meal with those spectacular views is a real luxury. A highly recommended place for those looking for good food, excellent service and a charming corner. We were in this restaurant on Friday evening, after the Christmas market. Friends of ours just had a drink there beforehand - and were warmly welcomed, even without wanting to eat anything. We came later and ordered some more food. The food was very tasty and the service was fantastic. We'll be back. A restaurateur with a lot of heart and a good dose of hospitality 🤗

The food is delicious, you don't have to wait long for it and the staff is very friendly. In summer the beer garden is great with a great view.

Hotel and room without rating as not needed as a local resident. We absolutely recommend it as a Greek restaurant. Still the best Greek restaurant in the area. In terms of taste, we haven't found anything better between Schopfheim and Tiengen. Update from September 2024: Since we occasionally order food to be picked up, this service in particular has unfortunately become increasingly negative. The taste is always great, but the portions seem to be getting smaller and smaller despite the confident price. In particular the mixed cold starter that we always ordered. Lately there has always been one component missing and last time even THREE, broad beans, taramas and dolmades were not included this time. It's annoying when you only notice it when you unpack it at home. Then I want to eat and not discuss things on the phone. That's a shame and, in my opinion, unnecessary. Therefore 2 stars deducted again. Previous review: Delicious dishes, also available to pick up. In the summer there is a great garden, mostly under a huge old tree which provides shade. The cold mixed starter is actually mandatory, but you have to be a very good eater for the main course. Fish platters, various grilled plates or grilled calamari were always very tasty and rich. It is strongly recommended that you make a reservation to eat on site, as it is usually very busy. Not a bargain after the last price adjustment, but service staff, chefs and good food all have their price. Service has always been good. The only small point of criticism. A blonde service worker (W) repeatedly appears a bit listless and sometimes arrogant. The owner has the plates flying in from the kitchen and has the service as well as the coordination of the available seats perfectly under control.

The Alte Post (Hotel) in Laufenburg was incredible with a beautiful view of the Rhine River, easy access to historic old town, and close to a pedestrian bridge that crosses over the Rhine River to Switzerland. Our room was a suite, and large for a European hotel room. It had a gigantic deck with a lovely view of the river. Absolutely loved it!

We only used the restaurant. Downright mediocre. This restaurant is aimed at the mass and rapid flow of customers. The food isn't bad but everything tastes about the same. In a mixed grill, the types of meat can be distinguished by their appearance, not by their taste. The service is correct but a bit on the gruff side. The feeling of being welcome is missing. The location on the Rhine is the only real advantage that we have discovered here.

If you stop by an "old post" in conjunction with Augustiner beer, you shouldn't necessarily expect Bavarian cuisine, as in this case. Rather, it is simply a Greek restaurant. Calamari with fried potato slices means: lots of potatoes, little calamari For the fish platter: little fish, but a dry shrimp for decoration The location on the Rhine is beautiful, but this affects the price-performance ratio

Very nice place to sit on the Rhine. Good home-style food with a Greek touch. The food didn't convince me. When I order fried potatoes I don't expect fried potato slices. The service was quick, attentive and friendly.

If you are looking for a place open on Sunday evenings in the area, you are in the right place. They were very kind even though we hadn't booked, fast service and abundant, well-prepared dishes, the beer on tap was also good. The prices are fair.

We came to Laufenburg on the Rhine cycle path. Here we were given a double room straight away without much pre-planning. The house is a little older but very nicely decorated. The room was large, clean and equipped with a bath/shower and TV. The welcome was very friendly and pleasant. It was also practical that the inn for dinner and breakfast was connected with a passage. Overall you can say it's very cheap, clean, has a great staff and is highly recommended for cyclists. Many thanks and keep it up.

Das Ambiente ist traumhaft, die Bedienung ist freundlich und das Essen war schlecht. Das Kalbfleisch hat komisch geschmeckt und die darauf folgende Nacht war einfach nur schrecklich. Auf meine Nachricht an den Wirt habe ich mich belehren lassen dürfen, dass wir wahrscheinlich eine Magen-Darm Grippe haben, welche wohl grad herumgeht..........

Die Aussicht auf den Rhein ist sehr schön. Die Bedienung war freundlich, das Essen okay, aber kein Brüller. Die Souvlaki waren eher trocken und zäh.

We have never been disappointed. We come for dinner almost every three weeks and we enjoy it every time. Therefore definitely 5 stars. We are already looking forward to the next visit.

Essen war sehr lecker, nur leider war der Tomatenreis kalt ansonsten kann man dort gut essen.

Also Personal kriegt von mir fünf Sterne ich weiß nicht ob es im Zimmer gut war weil ich aber nur einen guten Freund wo ich an der Bushaltestelle kennengelernt habe wo in Frankreich wohnen ich habe ihn dann dorthin begleitet bis zum Hotel weil es eher so ein guter Mann war und jetzt muss er weiter und ich bleibe in Laufenburg ich wohne in Laufenburg er wohnt in Frankreich

Sehr einfaches Zimmer mit teilweise lädierten Möbeln . Sehr sauber und nettes Personal. Das dazugehörige Restaurant ist sehr empfehlenswert. Sehr gemütlich . Sehr gute Küche und der Service ist spitze,total aufmerksam und absolut freundlich.
