Alte Linde in Regensburg

We went to this place during a private tour. Our guide took as there to try Regensburger sausage (they have their own kind of sausages in Regensburg) and a local beer. We loved the both. And really enjoyed the view of the Old Town.

Wir hatten Wochen im Voraus einen Tisch für 25 Personen anlässlich einer Firmung reserviert. Als wir ankamen, war das Wetter wunderschön – perfektes Wetter also für einen angenehmen Platz im Freien. Stattdessen wurden wir jedoch an einen abgelegenen Tisch unter einem Dach gesetzt, der maximal für 10 Personen geeignet war. Als ich höflich um einen besseren, passenderen Tisch bat, wurde ich vom Kellner lautstark angeschrien: „Soll ich etwa die anderen Gäste wegschicken?“ – dabei waren zu diesem Zeitpunkt noch mehrere Tische frei. Nach einer unangenehmen Diskussion bekamen wir schließlich doch einen anderen Tisch, der angeblich ebenfalls reserviert war – aber im Laufe des Tages kam dort niemand. Für ein Familienfest dieser Größe und Bedeutung war das Erlebnis insgesamt enttäuschend. Freundlicher und professioneller Umgang mit Gästen sieht anders aus.

Good German food, but limited variety. Overall, it was very tasty, but the staff wasn't very friendly. Aside from that, the restaurant has an incredible view and is a good place to have a beer.

The food was truly delicious and arrived quickly. Unfortunately, the service was significantly below par: The waiter was very inattentive, didn't signal that he had taken orders, and generally seemed annoyed and rude. Simple questions were answered rudely, and a "goodbye" or "have a nice evening" at the end wouldn't have been too much to ask. It's a shame, because the food deserved better service. The cleanliness of the restrooms could have been much better.

Highly recommended. Cozy, quaint, with a great view and atmosphere. Plus, the staff is super friendly.

For me the most beautiful beer garden in Regensburg.

The food was good. The service was below par, she was cold and bordered on rude, we tried to ask for the menu, but were dismissed. She also started clearing the table before half of us had finished eating. A note was also placed on the table with reserved while we ate. She also asked how much we wanted back when we paid, if we wanted to tip, in my opinion that is what you give for good service.

Wunderschöner Biergarten an der Donau und der geschichtsträchtigen „Steinernen Brücke“ gelegen. Während unseres Kurzurlaubes haben wir den Biergarten dreimal besucht, weil wir von der Speisekarte überzeugt waren! Die angebotenen Gerichte haben uns nicht enttäuscht, sie waren geschmacklich lecker, auch für das Auge hervorragend zubereitet und sehr gut portioniert! Bedanken möchten wir uns bei dem freundlichen Service-Personal, besonders bei Alex und Michaela! Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis top! 5 Sterne und ein Empfehlenswert von uns!

The beer and white wine were good. Siting outside unter den Linden was chilling (under the sun, it was +38C) with a superior view to the old city. We came here around 3PM, no wait. We were able to choose a table from the available. After a couple of hours there we were no places available.

The food was good, shaded by the trees, which was great on a hot day. Only the service was irritated, not particularly friendly, just because two friends didn't show up. Yes, but friends can't choose to get sick...

Waren mit Freunden im Biergarten Salat, Wiener Schnitzel, Bierks und Leberkäse waren mega lecker. Auch die Bedienung war super. Absolut zu empfehlen.

Everything was great, wonderful view

The Alte Linde impresses with its excellent cuisine and idyllic location in the immediate vicinity of the Stone Bridge. The dishes were prepared to perfection – the main course in particular impressed with its freshness, refinement, and depth of flavor. Compliments to the kitchen and the chef: someone here knows their craft. The service experience, however, was less pleasing. The waitresses seemed consistently inattentive, unfriendly, and in several situations overwhelmed. Inquiries were answered curtly or even rudely, empty glasses went unnoticed for a long time, and even simple requests were either forgotten or only reluctantly fulfilled. In an establishment with such culinary quality and such a traditional name, such service should not be the norm. Conclusion: The cuisine alone would absolutely justify another visit. The service, however, is in stark contrast to the quality of the food – and should be urgently improved.

The culinary offerings at this establishment are certainly impressive – the dishes are of remarkable quality, finely seasoned, and attractively presented. The kitchen knows its craft, and it would easily be a place one would gladly return to – were it not for the completely unacceptable service. The service was so unfriendly that it left an unpleasant aftertaste to the entire experience, which even the excellent food could not disguise. Condescending remarks, a blatant disinterest in the well-being of the guests, and a noticeable lack of courtesy characterized our visit. One did not get the impression of being welcome – rather, one seemed to be inconveniencing the service. A restaurant in this price range should be aware that service is an integral part of the overall experience. Courtesy, attentiveness, and a modicum of hospitality should not be considered optional. Conclusion: Excellent cuisine – but unfortunately marred by service that lacked any kind of hospitality. Regrettable.

Very nice shady beer garden on the Jahninsel

The beer garden is nice, the food is good, but the service is unfriendly! It's only right that if the customer pays and even leaves a tip, you at least thank them. Turning around and walking away without a word is pretty cheeky! Thank goodness there are so many other beer gardens. I can't recommend it under any circumstances!!!!!!!

The Alte Linde is a lovely beer garden. You sit under the shade of the trees and enjoy a great view of Regensburg's city center. The staff is quick and friendly, and the food is typical: bratwurst, sauerkraut, and a roll. Not exactly a feast for northerners like us, but still typically Bavarian.

Dass Essen Pilzrahmsosse mit trockenen Semmelknödel hat uns gar nicht geschmeckt , Soße mit viel Bindemittel wie Pudding - Knödel nicht frisch Waren sehr enttäuscht.

The location on the Danube with a view of Regensburg's old town is simply priceless – 5 out of 5 stars for that! The beer garden is beautiful and wonderfully shady, the service friendly. The food was okay. What's not quite up to date: non-alcoholic radlers are only available by the meter. It's nice that there's a small children's playground/sand/gravel pit. What's not so nice is that it's completely neglected, which in this case means there's almost no gravel left and the children play on the almost bare wooden boards. And even worse are the restrooms, which were unfortunately not clean at all. The trash can (pedal bin) was broken, paper was empty... simply unkempt. All in all, an inn with so much potential that is unfortunately not being fully utilized. Please don't rest on your laurels!

A trip to Regensburg is definitely worth it, and whether the weather is good or bad, a stop at this place is definitely worth it. The food and drinks are truly top-notch. The value for money is simply top-notch. The service staff are very friendly, funny, personable, and helpful. I know it's all a matter of taste, and everyone's experience is different... but we absolutely loved the lovely little beer garden 👍 and our food was delicious 😋. The food and beer were really great, at very reasonable prices. Ambiance was fun too with a live blues band playing. But waitstaff looked overworked and they were very chilly to us - like they preferred we went away

We only used the outdoor area, so no review of the interior is possible. The service was very attentive. The food was good, and even some more unusual dishes, like fish patties, were very good! As were all the dishes served at the table. The portion sizes were also decent. The prices were also down-to-earth/comfortable. You also have a good view of the "skyline" of Regensburg's old town. A restaurant that can be recommended without hesitation.

Bratensulz - the worst I've ever eaten

You have to be lucky... to sit at a table in the beer garden that's being looked after by a freelance server. Our server had nothing to do, strolling around and admiring the beautiful starry sky (at least he wasn't picking his nose). When asked why he wasn't serving us, he replied with disarming logic that we weren't sitting at "his table." The colleague who was in charge of us had her hands full and was really stressed. Maybe look up TEAMWORK and CUSTOMER FOCUS; you can learn something there and even earn more money. We took ours home. PS Regarding the "owner's response" - you can't put "not applicable" on these reviews. You're right, I didn't eat anything, but what else am I supposed to give? 3 stars for the menu layout?

There were two of us there and we wanted to make a reservation in advance to be sure we got a table. We were told on the phone that two people always find a spot and that they only reserve it for larger groups. When we arrived last night, every seat was taken. After a while, a spot finally opened, and we were able to sit down. Ordering also took a long time. It was busy, so we understand the long wait. The staff were busy the whole time. When the food finally arrived (my husband got his much earlier than I did), we weren't impressed by the look of the Schäuferl (pork shoulder). It didn't taste that good either. I had a breaded schnitzel, a very large portion, with potato salad that tasted a bit sweet. If you want a drink with a beautiful view, the Alte Linde is the place for you. If you want to eat delicious regional cuisine, you might want to go elsewhere. But: Great view, good beer, and a great atmosphere in the beer garden.

Very cozy and friendly and great view

We changed seats due to heavy smoke and politely informed the waitress before we even had our drinks at our table. The staff was extremely rude and rude and refused to allow us to order food. 😂 Later, as we left, they even gave us dirty looks. Unfortunately, the service staff wasn't particularly friendly on my last visit either.

Five of us went there for lunch at 1 p.m. on a rainy Sunday and were seated immediately. Because of the rain, we were seated in the restaurant instead of the beer garden as planned. The ambiance is very pleasant and the staff is friendly. Prices are reasonable for Regensburg, and everyone enjoyed the food. Parking is free nearby.

Huge portion for a reasonable price.

We were at the Alte Linde restaurant with five people. We had reserved a table in advance and were completely satisfied. The service was very friendly and helpful, especially when it came to recommending food. The food was delicious; we had a wonderful evening and were more than full. A special shout-out to our waiter, a true Schwedter 😅 And let's not forget the fantastic view across the Danube to Regensburg.

Excellent restaurant with super service

Beautifully situated restaurant, on the river with a view of the old town. Tasty food, served quickly. Professional service. We ordered a cutlet with spelunke and mushroom sauce and a regional plate. Good dinner, delicious beer. Sparrows visited us and begged a lot of dumplings. It is worth stopping for a meal or a beer.

We really liked it and can only recommend it

Die bestellten Gerichte (Schweineschäufele bzw Schweinebraten jeweils mit Sauerkraut und Kartoffelknödel) wurden sehr schnell gebracht. Schweineschäufele war deutlich zu trocken (wurde wahrscheinlich bereits mehrere Stunden warm gehalten). Sauerkraut war ok. Das Bier (Kneitinger dunkel) schmeckte auch nicht so gut/frisch wie im Kneitinger-Restaurant zuvor am Mittag. Bedienung war sympathisch. Insgesamt keine Empfehlung meinerseits.

Unfortunately, our visit to “Zur alten Linde” was disappointing. The restaurant was completely full, which is of course a good sign at first. A friendly group even offered to let us use their table as they had reserved inside - however, outside was the only area open. However, before the situation could be properly clarified, the waitress came to us and said in a very unfriendly tone that we would “definitely not” get the seat. Unfortunately, that didn't seem very hospitable and really depressed the mood. Especially in a situation like this, one would have wished for a little more politeness and accommodation. We have therefore moved on and will probably not give the restaurant a second chance anytime soon.

Very good food. Young, friendly team in service, drinks and food came very quickly. Everything was freshly prepared, very tasty side salad. Nothing out of the box. Price/performance 10/10. Traditional furnishings with panoramic views of the “Steinernen” and cathedral.

A great place we discovered while visiting Regensburg. The vienna schnitzel with potato salad was excellent and the beer was also well treated. The view of the stone bridge is unrivaled. We really recommend this restaurant to everyone.

Visited on beautiful spring afternoon and sat outside in the garden . What a stunning view from the outside. Great food and service. The only downside of the restaurant ( no English menu for non German speaking customers) but we managed to.

Great beer garden with a view of the cathedral. Service was quick and friendly, and it wasn't packed at lunchtime, so it was very pleasant to sit. The potato salad was exactly what I wanted, unfortunately the schnitzel was a bit bland and dry, but overall it was very filling (even if the angle in the picture doesn't make it look that way). Definitely great value for money (€14.90 for schnitzel with potato salad). Beer selection also OK

We came on Friday evening without a reservation and were pleasantly surprised that we could still be offered a place. I would have liked to order something from the region, but the liver dumpling soup had already been crossed out and the fried black pudding slices were no longer available either. Since the rest of the menu didn't really appeal to me, I ordered a Hambuger Schnitzel with roasted onions, 2 fried eggs and fried potatoes. My wife took a mushroom schnitzel and was happy with it. However, my dish put some question marks on my face. I don't know how you can make roasted onion rings so tough. I have to try this at home. The onions, which were fried a long time ago, were probably put in the microwave together with the pre-fried schnitzel. There's no other way I can explain how a normal-looking schnitzel is lukewarm on the outside and so hot on the inside that you almost burn your tongue. It was a shame that our last evening in Regensburg turned out to be such a disappointment.

The “Alte Linde” inn is located on a small Danube island opposite the city of Regensburg. The associated beer garden has a successful design and offers guests, as well as from some of the inner squares, a very beautiful view of the historic old town of Regensburg. However, what was disappointing for us (03/25/25) was the food on offer. The focus here is more on international, probably mass-market cuisine, in which Bavarian or regional classics only play a subordinate role - at least during the week. As the restaurant assured us in the wake of our recession, the weekend menu would be more balanced, with Bavarian classics in mind. There would be better inns, not in terms of the view, but in terms of the food on offer during the week, which would also include the main establishment, the Kneitiger brewery restaurant.

I've never returned a meal from a restaurant. We were sold pork as beef, and the pork was practically raw. I received the wrong drink, and the waiter didn't offer any consideration. That's a good way to send people you don't like to eat. The restaurant doesn't deserve a single star.

Okay place but I wouldn't say it's something special. Food is okay for a fair price. Beer is good. The waiter was unfriendly and demonstratively answered in German to my attempts to speak English, but suddenly remembered English when the conversation turned to tips. In response to my refusal, she turned around and left - no thank you, no goodbye.

Were turned away when we wanted to use the toilet. I found it very unfriendly. We've eaten here more often, but we're sure it won't happen again.

The restaurant is located on the Danube, with a beautiful view of Regensburg Cathedral. The waiter greeted us rather rudely and gave us a great seat by the window. Another waiter wasn't particularly friendly when taking the order either. The food was very plentiful and tasted good. The price-performance ratio is unbeatable.

We spontaneously went to eat here in the evening after having had really bad luck with the food the previous two evenings in Regensburg and were very satisfied here. Very tasty food, the service was actually very quick and friendly. If we are in Regensburg again, we will come back there.

The location is great but there is no variety of beers and the service is terrible. They only ask for tips from tourists and if you don't leave anything they give you the ticket in a very bad manner. This is not how you treat people who visit your country.
