Great beer garden with a view of the cathedral. Service was quick and friendly, and it wasn't packed at lunchtime, so it was very pleasant to sit. The potato salad was exactly what I wanted, unfortunately the schnitzel was a bit bland and dry, but overall it was very filling (even if the angle in the picture doesn't make it look that way). Definitely great value for money (€14.90 for schnitzel with potato salad). Beer selection also OK

The “Alte Linde” inn is located on a small Danube island opposite the city of Regensburg. The associated beer garden has a successful design and offers guests, as well as from some of the inner squares, a very beautiful view of the historic old town of Regensburg. However, what was disappointing for us (03/25/25) was the food on offer. The focus here is more on international, probably mass-market cuisine, in which Bavarian or regional classics only play a subordinate role - at least during the week. As the restaurant assured us in the wake of our recession, the weekend menu would be more balanced, with Bavarian classics in mind. There would be better inns, not in terms of the view, but in terms of the food on offer during the week, which would also include the main establishment, the Kneitiger brewery restaurant.

We came on Friday evening without a reservation and were pleasantly surprised that we could still be offered a place. I would have liked to order something from the region, but the liver dumpling soup had already been crossed out and the fried black pudding slices were no longer available either. Since the rest of the menu didn't really appeal to me, I ordered a Hambuger Schnitzel with roasted onions, 2 fried eggs and fried potatoes. My wife took a mushroom schnitzel and was happy with it. However, my dish put some question marks on my face. I don't know how you can make roasted onion rings so tough. I have to try this at home. The onions, which were fried a long time ago, were probably put in the microwave together with the pre-fried schnitzel. There's no other way I can explain how a normal-looking schnitzel is lukewarm on the outside and so hot on the inside that you almost burn your tongue. It was a shame that our last evening in Regensburg turned out to be such a disappointment.

Unfortunately very unfriendly staff. Not recommended on a human level. I ordered a water, wanted a still one. Got one with sparkling water. It's a shame I can't give 0 stars.

I've never returned a meal from a restaurant. We were sold pork as beef, and the pork was practically raw. I received the wrong drink, and the waiter didn't offer any consideration. That's a good way to send people you don't like to eat. The restaurant doesn't deserve a single star.

Okay place but I wouldn't say it's something special. Food is okay for a fair price. Beer is good. The waiter was unfriendly and demonstratively answered in German to my attempts to speak English, but suddenly remembered English when the conversation turned to tips. In response to my refusal, she turned around and left - no thank you, no goodbye.

Were turned away when we wanted to use the toilet. I found it very unfriendly. We've eaten here more often, but we're sure it won't happen again.

The restaurant is located on the Danube, with a beautiful view of Regensburg Cathedral. The waiter greeted us rather rudely and gave us a great seat by the window. Another waiter wasn't particularly friendly when taking the order either. The food was very plentiful and tasted good. The price-performance ratio is unbeatable.

We spontaneously went to eat here in the evening after having had really bad luck with the food the previous two evenings in Regensburg and were very satisfied here. Very tasty food, the service was actually very quick and friendly. If we are in Regensburg again, we will come back there.

The location is great but there is no variety of beers and the service is terrible. They only ask for tips from tourists and if you don't leave anything they give you the ticket in a very bad manner. This is not how you treat people who visit your country.

Food really delicious. The waitresses are “normally” not unfriendly but not very warm either. Like everywhere else in Regensburg, the prices are now astronomical! This is no longer in proportion. That's why I don't go here often anymore... it's a real shame. Inflation can no longer be an explanation here.

Awesome in summer with a great view. During winter it has a nice vibe too. Daily specials are always the best option and I love that the option of dark Radler is also available.

We were there after the dachshund parade with 13 people and 7 dachshunds. The beer garden was very well attended. Nevertheless, it went quickly and we all got our food pretty much at the same time, which, by the way, tasted very good. Our special requests were also taken into account, which is certainly not easy with so many people. If we are in Regensburg again, we would like to come back. (Then probably 2 people and 1 dachshund)

We were there on a Friday afternoon and took a seat in the beer garden, which was already quite busy. The friendly service was very prompt. The menu arrived immediately, the drinks arrived quickly and the food didn't take long to arrive. The food was very tasty and the price was right. Most dishes can also be ordered in "small portions", which are still large. We can recommend a visit to the Alte Linde.

The food was exceptionally good, the service was very quick and very nice despite the stress, and the ambience was obviously wonderful thanks to the view of the Stone Bridge and the Danube, and the garden itself was also beautiful, lighting, spotlights, etc. Everything was great!

Yesterday we were in the Alte Linde beer garden in Regensburg. Very nice atmosphere on the banks of the Danube. Very nice and friendly staff. The food was very filling and tasted great. Homemade potato salad and spaetzle. The best thing was the huge portion of roast pork. 2 huge slices of pork, the meat was buttery soft, the sauerkraut was great and the dark beer sauce with it was also great. This was the best roast pork I have ever eaten in my life. Simply amazing!!! You just have to try it!!!

Wir waren gestern im Biergarten Alte Linde in Regensburg. Sehr schönes Ambiente am Donauufer. Sehr nettes und freundliches Personal. Das Essen war sehr üppig und geschmacklich Spitze. Kartoffelsalat und Spätzle selbstgemacht. Am besten war die Riesenportion Schweinebraten. 2 Riesenscheiben Schweinefleisch, butterweich das Fleisch, das Sauerkraut super und auch die dunkle Biersosse dazu war super. Cool spot on the river and great food. Everything was amazing until my wife sent back a glass of prosecco because it was flat. A minute or two later some hothead (bartender? owner? not sure) showed up and berated us for not wanting to pay for the prosecco, ultimately telling us to "enjoy our vacation but don't come back". Be assured we will do both. Maybe take some ownership on the delivery of a quality product and take an anger management class. Shockingly terrible experience.

The food and beer were amazing. However, the men's bathroom were incredibly miserable, no flushable urinals and no deodorizer. Hope they can improve this part next time I arrive in Regensburg. Also, they have a lot of hedgehogs running around when night falls.

Nice atmosphere on the Danube Island Until now I only knew potato soup with Viennese. Not bad with bratwurst, but I prefer bratwurst with mustard. Of course, food is a matter of taste.

A really rustic inn in the middle of Regensburg, with a beer garden right on the Danube. Food very good, service very good. We were there for dinner with 20 people and everyone was able to eat together very quickly.

We are now regular guests at the old Linde and actually always enjoy eating there because we really like the ambience. However, what we experienced today leaves a very bad impression. We ate outside with the family around 6 p.m. in the back area and were treated very unfriendly by a blonde waitress. After throwing the beer mat over the table and telling us after a cushion fell on the floor that you could do this at home but not here, we had enough. Despite the very poor service, we tipped €3. Apparently this wasn't satisfactory and she slapped the €5 change on the table saying I didn't need the €3. We actually really enjoy being there, so we ask the management to train the employees there to have a minimum level of respect and friendliness.

I also feel permanently understaffed. You wait 20 minutes for a beer. Also on paying, and and and. So dear team at the old Linde: The food and location are great! One of Regensburg's many beautiful beer gardens in a fantastic location on Jahn Island. Usually fast service and quite good and large portions at relatively good prices. Very popular with tourists and locals alike, especially in summer. It's just not always easy to get a place quickly at the best time.

Nice beer garden, great ambience, but unfriendly staff. I wanted to reserve a table for 4 people. After what felt like an eternity the call was answered and I was immediately told in a very unfriendly manner that reservations could only be made for groups of 6 or more people. We should come over, there might be space available. I then commented that I had a disabled lady with me who could barely walk. The only answer was, reservations only for 6 people or more. That was the end of the conversation. Unfriendly staff, not flexible, not empathetic.

Very nice traditional restaurant with a beer garden and a view of Regensburg's old town. Bavarian cuisine, but also something for vegetarians and vegans on the menu. We had bratwurst with sauerkraut. Clear recommendation! Service was friendly until then. As soon as our plates were cleared, we were asked if we would like to order anything else. No thanks, not at first - we had just finished eating. Ok, then I'll bring the bill, said the waitress. We asked whether it has to be the same? No answer and 5 minutes later the bill was presented to us. The beer garden was well attended yesterday on a sunny Saturday lunchtime, new guests were constantly coming...But we didn't really want to be complemented like that. After the overwhelmingly positive impression, we didn't like that at all. First let the food sink in a bit, we had already considered ordering the apple strudel that was offered as dessert. We enjoyed it later somewhere else in the old town.

Very nice restaurant with a beautiful beer garden with a view of Regensburg's old town. The service was very friendly and attentive, but not pushy or intrusive, even though the beer garden was full. The food was great and very fair in price. The large 400g steak was served with a sumptuous, varied salad. Our friends were also extremely satisfied with the schnitzel, sausages and snack! Full recommendation and gladly again!

A beautiful place almost on the Danube, with a view of the old town. The service is fast but impersonal. The tables are not cleaned very much after the previous visit, there is a lot that can be improved in this regard. The selection of dishes is not very large, but those who like real Bavarian cuisine will have their choice. Portions are also for bigger eaters, prices are acceptable. If your kids require fries with their schnitzel, you need to go elsewhere. 😜

Siamo stati in questo ristorante il 12 agosto 2024 in coppia. Ci si siede ai tavoli con gli altri come è abitudine qui in Bavaria nei ristoranti di questo tipo. È un classico Biergarten sul Danubio tra gli alberi. Il menù è quello classico e i prezzi sono in linea con l'offerta negli altri locali di questo tipo. Alle 10:00 di sera passano a chiedere il pagamento del conto, perché alle 11:00 devono chiudere. Ottimo in famiglia in coppia e con gli amici. Marco Sicurezza, per voi assidui lettori delle mie recensioni che siete ormai diventati più di 178.000!

Wir hatten mit Biergärten ja auch weniger gute Erfahrungen gemacht und dann einige negative Bewertungen hier gelesen und hatten daher einige Bedenken... völlig zu Unrecht! Hier kann man nicht nur gut trinken, sondern auch gut essen. Ein toller Platz ist es sowieso mit Blick auf die Altstadt samt Brücke. Das Bier ist wirklich gut (Pils und Schwarzbier beide empfehlenswert) und das Essen wird offensichtlich wirklich selbst gemacht: Meine Sülze, für 10 Euro ein Schnapper, kam im Teller zubereitet. Fazit: Schöner Abend mit gutem Bier und gutem Essen

The food was mediocre and nothing special that I would go to a restaurant for. The waiter had a very special way of addressing and serving the guests. I wouldn't call that friendly.

A Regensburger Schnitzel with sauce on the breading is an absolute no-go. It may be that some people like it. But creating a mush meal out of the beautiful crust is more for a fattening operation. In the past the cook would have been stoned. P.S. Of course I didn't eat the schnitzel. I'm just making fun of the increasingly pervasive insanity of offering something like that on the menu.
