We've been here many times in the summer and were always very satisfied in the beer garden. Now, at the end of October, we were inside for the first time. Unfortunately, we were disappointed this time. Neither the fish nor the meat tasted good. Either there's a new chef, or the quality is different in the summer. It's a shame. We might come back for one last try in the summer.

The schnitzel cordon bleu was good, but the cucumber potato salad didn't taste fresh. It sat heavily on my stomach 😑.

The beer garden is really nicely situated, and the other guests' food looked good too, but we were unlucky with the entrecôte (more braised than seared, and quite salty). Next time, we'll go for a bratwurst.

The food was okay, but definitely not recommended. I had a dead fly in my food. I only got a new portion after asking. So, "guest is king" definitely doesn't apply here. The service seemed like they weren't in the mood. The location is amazing – I can only recommend a beer or a drink and enjoying the view. Avoid eating there.

A traditional Bavarian restaurant located on the Danube with a beautiful view of the old town. We had schnitzel with Spätzle and schnitzel with potato salad – both dishes were delicious and very filling. The dark beer was excellent and matched the meal perfectly. An ideal place to try Bavarian cuisine in Regensburg! 🍺

The culinary offerings at this establishment are certainly impressive – the dishes are of remarkable quality, finely seasoned, and attractively presented. The chefs know their craft, and it would easily be a place one would gladly return to – were it not for the completely unacceptable service. The service was so unfriendly that it left an unpleasant aftertaste to the entire experience, which even the excellent food could not disguise. Condescending remarks, a blatant disinterest in the well-being of the guests, and a noticeable lack of courtesy characterized our visit. One did not get the impression of being welcome – rather, one seemed to be inconveniencing the service. A restaurant in this price range should be aware that service is an integral part of the overall experience. Courtesy, attentiveness, and a modicum of hospitality should not be considered optional. Conclusion: Excellent cuisine – but unfortunately marred by service that lacked any kind of hospitality. Regrettable. I haven't visited the Gasthaus Alte Linde since my last visit, but I have read the recent reviews carefully. Unfortunately, it appears that the service issue persists. Many guests continue to report unfriendly and unaccommodating service – a pattern that continues despite the establishment's repeated assurances that they will consult with the staff. Given that several months have passed between my original comment and the most recent complaints, it's hard to assume that any substantial measures have actually been taken. The cuisine remains excellent – ​​high quality, attractively presented, and well-seasoned. However, the overall experience is unfortunately once again marred by the persistently problematic service. Conclusion: Excellent food, but unfortunately, the service continues to fall short of the standards of an establishment of this class. Regrettable.

Unfortunately, I can only give one star, even though it's relatively unfitting, because the food and ambiance were top-notch. However, our waitress was either having a bad day or should reconsider whether this is the right job for her. Since we were a group of seven and we both ate and drank on site, we frequently had requests for different orders. Our waitress complained loudly about the frequency of our orders and said we should all order together instead of individually. This was triggered by the fact that one of us had ordered a drink from her after another person had also ordered another drink about 15 minutes earlier. The waitress's reaction was completely over the top and in a truly inappropriate tone. Her bad mood made itself felt throughout our entire stay, as she either ignored us when we wanted to order something or made us wait when we did order. When we paid the bill without tipping due to the poor service, she didn't even say goodbye and left our table without a word. We had been recommended the Alte Linde by a former Regensburg resident and were unfortunately very disappointed with the service provided by our waitress.

In summer, Regensburg is one big beer garden, and the Alte Linde offers the most beautiful view of the Stone Bridge, the cathedral, and the old town. The menu is hearty—typical beer garden fare of average quality. The beer garden itself is very nice, though, and the view alone is worth a visit.

We used this restaurant for family lunch on a nice sunny Sunday. City was full and so was the restaurant - although it didnt open the interior and used only the large garden for serving Customers. People had sometimes a challenge to find a free table. Staff was ok - acting rather quickly but with less emotions - which could brind another positive experience of the visit. Garden itself is nice, many tables in the shadow but still with a picturesque view on the river and city centre. Menu is ok, offer for kids can make your wallet bit happier. Potato dumplings were bit of a different taste to what we are used to, rest of meals was good.

We were on a 25-day family trip (three adults and two children, ages 12 and 14) through Germany. We tried quite a few German restaurants, and this one offered the best value. If you want to try good local food at a great price, this is the restaurant for you.

We had a wonderful late afternoon at the Alte Linde! The roast pork, the mushroom pan, and the schnitzel with creamed mushrooms were truly delicious—all freshly prepared. The service was prompt and attentive. The value for money is absolutely excellent. They serve Kneitinger beer, which, as always, tastes excellent. Plus, the fantastic view of Regensburg across the Danube—simply magnificent! We'd love to come back and highly recommend the Alte Linde. Open 24/7. Excellent. They also offer small and large dishes. It's on the menu, which is also great.

There were four of us there, and when we paid by card, the waiter was so rude and practically threw the card back at us (perhaps we didn't tip enough???). My request to management is to train your staff, because this kind of behavior towards guests is completely unacceptable.

Lovely historical pub restaurant on one of the islands with amazing outdoor seating under the old trees with great views across the river towards the old stone bridge and historic part of town. The food is vary traditional Bavarian with all the usuals like pork and sauerkrat or pork schnitzels and looked to perfection. Great local beers on tap. There are no reservations so you have to float around and grab a table as it comes free during busy times but we'll worth the wait and only took us about 15min on a hot summers evening in peak holiday period.

My favorite beer garden in Regensburg – simply unbeatable! Good prices and large portions. Today I had a small roast pork, which was perfectly adequate for me. The meat was tender, the sauce was nicely seasoned, and the dumplings and cabbage were served with it… perfect!!! In short: This beer garden combines everything you could wish for – excellent food, great beer, fair prices, and friendly service. For me, it's clearly the best beer garden in Regensburg!

Never, the staff is unfriendly, not for families. Children's meal arrives in 40 minutes without cutlery, cutlery order arrives in 20 minutes. Table reserved for 7 people, cutlery only for 3 people. Children didn't eat everything. We wanted to take away, but the waiter refused to give us takeaway packaging. Unfortunately, we didn't like it at all.

We had a lovely hot summer evening dinner here. Beautiful location. We were lucky to find a table! It was so very busy. I tried to order a table for 7pm but was told it was only possible up until 6pm. Very inconvenient when you want to eat and walk all the way with kids… The service was good, fast and friendly. I had a Brotzeit which was a lot of food but only two bits of bread weren’t enough for all the meat and sausage it came with. The kids meals were sufficient BUT I find it surprising and rude to charge for a sachet of ketchup (without even being informed about it before). No fries on the menu unfortunately (difficult for some kids). Prices overall ok. There’s a small kids play corner which is great.

If no star at all were possible, I would have chosen this one. If you've spent your whole life doing nothing but catering and service and want to end your evening in this beer garden, you've definitely come to the wrong place. I've never personally experienced such audacity from a waiter. The waiter loudly scolded us, a couple, in the middle of the beer garden because a bench became available late at night and we wanted to sit there. (Togetherness and all that.) And later wondered why we didn't round up the amount. I like to tip generously if I'm satisfied. But not to such an insensitive employee, who might be better off in the kitchen. He deliberately threw the change on the table without any respect. When we asked why he couldn't give it to us normally, he said very cheekily, "They have their money... Of course, good staff is hard to come by, but I hate to put up with that, so I absolutely do NOT recommend it." As I was leaving, I asked for the location of the manager, and was condescendingly directed to a man who the colleagues were apparently trying to make fun of. I asked him if he was actually the manager, and he shyly denied it. In the end, he and we as a couple were laughed at... what is going on in this place????

We were cycling along the Danube Cycle Path and stayed overnight in Regensburg on Saturday, August 9, 2025. After arriving, we wanted to stop at a beer garden. The weather was fantastic. I recognized the "Alte Linde" beer garden by name, as it's advertised as one of the most beautiful in Regensburg. We first went to a different one. The beer was small and not very good, as it could have been cooler. We didn't like the menu either. So we headed to the "Alte Linde" beer garden. It was quite crowded, but we still managed to get a seat at a large round table. The "Alte Linde" is a truly beautiful beer garden. The food was delicious. The portion sizes and the price of the food and drinks are particularly noteworthy. We could hardly believe it. This beer garden has a lovely ambiance. The location is fantastic, and the value for money is more than amazing. We were thrilled and will definitely be back!

Wow... I've never experienced such arrogance... I had written to the restaurant to request a reservation for next Sunday for two people at 6:30 p.m. and explicitly stated that one guest was in a wheelchair. The response was clear... My request was rejected, stating that in the summer, reservations are only accepted for six people or more and until 6 p.m. But we can always try it "on the off chance"! A guest in a wheelchair tries it on the off chance... The owner clearly has neither knowledge nor empathy for guests with disabilities....

The environment is very nice. You can dine in the garden and see the scenery of the old city on the other side of the river.

Unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend it. A disappointment across the board. When I asked for a tea towel because the tables and chairs were wet from the rain, the man rolled his eyes... what the hell, he'd wiped everything down first... and threw a damp, dirty cloth on the table in front of me. The cheese spaetzle I ordered were burnt, and when I asked for new ones, the young waitress was very helpful and hurried. Less than five minutes later, I got a new plate. After a few bites, I found the spaetzle burnt again - it had probably just been transferred to another plate, topped up with a few more spaetzle, and placed under the salamander with some more cheese. The spaetzle were a ready-made product, as were the fried onions... charging €16 for them is almost cheeky. The entire ambiance around the entrance area feels dingy – buckets, mops, and cleaning supplies in close proximity to the bar... The only bright spot were the two young waitresses, who were very friendly and accommodating. The messed-up food was not acknowledged with any apology or accommodation. Certainly not a beer garden I would visit again or even recommend.

We went to this place during a private tour. Our guide took as there to try Regensburger sausage (they have their own kind of sausages in Regensburg) and a local beer. We loved the both. And really enjoyed the view of the Old Town.

Doesn't seem to be a beer garden for clubs that want to have a beer outside with eight people in the afternoon. Very strange business concept. We're on average 40 years old and definitely not a bachelorette party.

We wanted to visit the beer garden on a sunny day as a group of eight people (mind you, not a bachelor party, we're already married ;) – friendly, with no particular expectations, simply hoping for a cool drink and a nice spot outside. Without any comprehensible explanation, we were harshly and unfriendly turned away, even though there were clearly plenty of free seats outside... For a place that publicly presents itself as an open and sociable beer garden. So, unfortunately, a resounding no... A little further across the bridge, you'll find much more welcoming accommodations in the Spitalgarten.

We were a group of eight young men who simply wanted a cold drink in the almost empty outdoor area. After a brief discussion, we were given a short and blunt turndown. When we asked again, we were simply told, "Yes, we don't want your money." A little further on, in the hospital garden, we were greeted warmly and warmly and given a seat.

Wir hatten Wochen im Voraus einen Tisch für 25 Personen anlässlich einer Firmung reserviert. Als wir ankamen, war das Wetter wunderschön – perfektes Wetter also für einen angenehmen Platz im Freien. Stattdessen wurden wir jedoch an einen abgelegenen Tisch unter einem Dach gesetzt, der maximal für 10 Personen geeignet war. Als ich höflich um einen besseren, passenderen Tisch bat, wurde ich vom Kellner lautstark angeschrien: „Soll ich etwa die anderen Gäste wegschicken?“ – dabei waren zu diesem Zeitpunkt noch mehrere Tische frei. Nach einer unangenehmen Diskussion bekamen wir schließlich doch einen anderen Tisch, der angeblich ebenfalls reserviert war – aber im Laufe des Tages kam dort niemand. Für ein Familienfest dieser Größe und Bedeutung war das Erlebnis insgesamt enttäuschend. Freundlicher und professioneller Umgang mit Gästen sieht anders aus.

Honestly, I was just relying on the view and assumed it was just some random tourist attraction. It was a Saturday evening and I didn't have a reservation, so I didn't expect to be seated. But after about five minutes of waiting, I was seated right away. Although it wasn't a window seat, the view was even better. The view across the river was truly breathtaking. What surprised me most was the taste of the food. The price was very reasonable, and I couldn't believe how much they could offer. I ordered the Nackensteak and schnitzel, which are my favorite dishes and something I often make at home. But I was struck by how delicious these dishes could be. I was impressed by the chef's skill, and the combination of the taste and the stunning view made for a truly satisfying meal. Seriously, this is why I thought, "This is why people pay for food..."👍 The restaurant's interior was warm and cozy, and the antique decorations throughout added to the comfort. Es war ein Samstagabend, und ich hatte nicht reserviert, also rechnete ich damit, keinen Platz zu bekommen – aber nach nur fünf Minuten Warten konnte ich bereits sitzen. Zwar war es kein Fensterplatz, aber die Aussicht von meinem Platz war sogar noch schöner. Der Blick über den Fluss war einfach fantastisch. Was mich aber am meisten überrascht hat, war das Essen. Die Preise waren sehr fair, und für diesen Preis so eine Qualität zu bekommen, hat mich wirklich erstaunt. Ich hatte ein Nackensteak und ein Schnitzel bestellt – Gerichte, die ich sehr mag und auch zu Hause öfter selbst zubereite. Aber wie gut diese hier geschmeckt haben, hat mich wirklich überrascht. Ich hatte den Eindruck, dass der Koch sein Handwerk wirklich versteht. In Kombination mit der tollen Aussicht war es ein rundum gelungenes Essen. Ich dachte mir nur: „Dafür lohnt es sich wirklich, auswärts zu essen!“ 👍 Auch das Innere des Restaurants war gemütlich und warm gestaltet. Die antiken Details in der Einrichtung haben zur entspannten Atmosphäre beigetragen. Es war ein spontaner Fund ohne große Erwartungen, aber vielleicht gerade deshalb ein umso einprägsameres Erlebnis. Wenn ich wieder einmal nach Regensburg komme, möchte ich auf jeden Fall noch einmal hierher zurückkehren.

Excellent service, top-notch food! Had the Regensburg Grill Plate. Really great value, and despite the busy beer garden, there was almost no wait. Even if it's "only" 30 cents. A grilled sausage dish comes with mustard, which you have to order separately. At least a sachet could be included...

Unfortunately, the service was significantly below par: The waiter was very inattentive, didn't signal that he had taken orders, and generally seemed annoyed and rude. Simple questions were answered rudely, and a "goodbye" or "have a nice evening" at the end wouldn't have been too much to ask. It's a shame, because the food deserved better service. The cleanliness of the restrooms could have been much better.
