Alte Kanzlei in Frankfurt am Main

This was our first time at the Alte Kanzlei (Old Chancellery). To our surprise, we were given a parking space right in front of the restaurant! A very good start to a lovely evening. We received an attentive welcome, and the beautiful Italian ambiance whetted our appetite for the menu. After a delicious aperitif, we started with the steak tartare, which was unfortunately a bit underseasoned and had a bit too much and overpowering Parmesan cream. The salmon cubes in a pistachio crust were perfect for me – fantastic! This was accompanied by a very fairly priced Italian Sauvignon Blanc. The Calabrian octopus was delicious – great, slightly spicy vegetables and very tender octopus. To finish, we had a sweet pistachio parfait. All in all, very good and fairly priced too!

Okay, it was the trade fair in Frankfurt, all the restaurants were full, but the Alte Kanzlei went way overboard, cramming everything full of tables and chairs, I almost couldn't breathe.

Sehr schönes Ambiente mit der Anmutung einer Anwaltskanzlei mit Gesetzeskommentaren im Regal und Daumier Karikaturen an der Wand. Das Essen war - bis auf einen kleinen Fehler - durchweg sehr lecker und insbesondere die Rinderfilets so wie bestellt. Die empfohlenen Weine sehr passend. Das Dessert ( Pistazien-Schoko-Kuchen) ein gelungener Abschluss. Ich komme gerne wieder.

Sensationell, das Essen ist immer wieder grossartig, der Service ist genauso excellent. Wir hatten immer eine grossartige Zeit und werden gerne wieder kommen.

I'm from Japan. The food was very delicious. I liked that there were many dishes using truffles. But I wish they'd put a little more effort into the tiramisu... The staff was friendly and gave us lots of recommendations for dishes. Perhaps it was just a coincidence, but I was surprised to see that this delicious restaurant was almost empty. I will come here again if I come to Frankfurt.

It was a very pleasant evening with outstanding service

The tables were quite narrow (you have to like it), the service was ok (friendly and fast, but more on the negative side later), the food, well: I chose a 2-course lunch menu because of the veal scaloppinas, which weren't on the normal menu and, according to the service, cannot be ordered alone, but the very very very thickly cut veal (2 pieces) was unfortunately very very very crumbly and very very very far away from what I imagine a scaloppina to be. First of all as a primi (or antipasto/i?): "Roast beef, Parmesan wedge and mushrooms", but the roast beef is also cut very, very thick, and very, very well done... You have to like it that way, I don't like it. But the parmesan was ok... I didn't want the roast beef in advance, but rather the Calabrian pasta. According to the friendly service lady, this wasn't possible as a "lunch menu": only the starter (antipasto/i?) and main course were available as a lunch menu combination. Ok, I accepted that without any objections, but I was wondering whether it matched the price on the menu, which reads as follows: "Fish or meat 2-course menu €29.50 | 3-course menu €34, 50". But no matter, I won't visit the baw restaurant again. My companion was otherwise very satisfied with the food - the very very very thick fillet steak also looked perfectly medium fried: But that didn't help me (and doesn't change my rating) because the chef simply prepared the scaloppina and roast beef with his method of preparation "killed" and the statements of the always friendly service staff didn't fit the menu. @Owner's comment: Removed the reference to the restaurant I like to eat at. You are right in your criticism. However, I would have expected an answer from you as to why I can't get a combination of "pasta" and "meat" - according to your current menu, this is easily possible. Too bad.

La comida estaba bien, pero los servicios eran terribles. Éramos cuatro personas, la comida tomó una eternidad y dos de las comidas estaban mal, así que no comimos juntos. No hay disculpas, sólo un tut como si fuera nuestra culpa. Actitudes muy malas. Muy ocupado, pero el personal era muy grosero.

The ambience is beautiful; everything is very classically furnished, but a bit outdated. The food is okay, but you should avoid the truffle pasta... it has nothing to do with parmesan, it's simply a flour sauce with a little truffle oil. The staff is not really helpful, says to do something and then just continues working and doesn't come back. Starters were solid, not a brilliant performance, but significantly better than the entire main course. No one asked whether everything was good or whether the food tasted good or whether they would like to drink something, etc. Unfortunately, not even close to making the money. Very unfortunate.

12/10! You definitely have to ask for the veal fillet with the Parmesan sauce and truffles. Then a good evening with fantastic food is guaranteed

Ich hatte über das Online-Reservierungssystem eine Reservierung machen lassen. Als Antwort kam eine Eingangsbestätigung, aber keine Bestätigung der Reservierung. Erst am Tag, danach, 30 Minuten (!) vor dem Beginn meiner Verabredung, kam dann die Bestätigung, dass kein Tisch mehr frei sei. Ich hatte diese zweite E-Mail nicht mehr gesehen und stand mit meiner Verabredung im Restaurant wie bestellt und nicht abgeholt. Nächstes Mal gehen wir woanders essen.

The selection of dishes did not correspond to the internet presence. Meager selection. Service unfriendly. We were in a back room together with utensils for the summer terrace stored there. Ambience so-so. Prices are clearly too high for what is on offer. The restaurant will b.a.w. no longer see.

I can only report on my bad experience in the “old law firm”. We had received confirmation of our reservation by email. When we arrived at the restaurant we were rudely told that we didn't have a reservation and that we had to leave. Apparently they don't know good customer service! We will not visit the “old office” again and cannot recommend the restaurant.

Desperately we searched for an Italian restaurant in Frankfurt with cuisine made with healthy Italian principles. We found this restaurant which already from the photos, since my partner and I are also in the restaurant business, we could understand the quality very well. We ate very fresh meat and fish, cooked to perfection. Flavors put together with professionalism. Delicious fish duo. However, on the part of the waiter (very kind and very good) he could have warned us that for two it would not have been much. We would have taken two in this case. In fact very disappointed as soon as it arrived on the table. Too much too little. But very good. Then we had an octopus and a sliced ​​steak. Simply delicious. Cooked well. But the cut is really too small. You don't have to go minimalism just for something to be fresh (this should go without saying). Perfect wine service by waiter Bangladesh. The other guy is good too. Atmosphere ok but minus a point for the lack of classical music or the kind on the terrace. Even if only slightly audible. This is my advice. Account ok. Good coffee.

Ein durchwegs angenehmer Besuch. Das Essen war Spitze und zwar von allen. Wir hatten Fisch, Fleisch, Pasta und alles war sehr zufriedenstellend. Auch der Service war superfreundlich, zuvorkommend und angenehm. Wir werden wieder kommen auch unsere Gäste waren alle begeistert.

I've taken photos here several times and also eaten there. Great food, great service and the staff are quick, friendly and accommodating. It's a great atmosphere, it's advisable to reserve here in advance. What the kitchen does, I can say, because I always look behind the scenes, is simply really good. We are lucky here in Frankfurt that we can eat so well. The restaurant is often booked by companies. There are only a few seats outside, but inside it is definitely cozy and the Italian flair comes into its own.

The octopus is excellent, the handmade truffle pasta is delicious. The interior is beautifully designed, a charming environment for a nice dinner.

Gourmet weeks - inferior dishes We had booked a 4-course menu through the Frankfurt city events. We were very irritated that the menu we had booked was changed in 3 out of 4 points. Above all, in our opinion, the starters were deteriorated. As a starter there should be: “Beef slices, pecorino cheese and mushrooms” Instead we had fried mushrooms with a parmesan sauce. Except for the mushrooms, this has nothing to do with the booked - and paid for (!) - food and is clearly inferior. Likewise, the intermediate course was not the promised gnocchi, but rather pasta with a tomato sauce. The dessert was also completely different than described in the offer. This is an absolute no-go! I decide to book such an offer because I find the menu appealing. How can it be that 3 gears are randomly exchanged for (at least 2) cheaper versions?! I find this extremely dubious and it really upsets me.

Um es vorweg zu nehmen.... Das Essen ist gut und die Weine waren lecker....auch das Lokal ist schön eingerichtet. Aber leider hätten wir einen besseren Service bei einem solchem Lokal erwartet. Vielleicht lag es daran, dass wir über Frankfurt Stadtevents ein Schlemmermenü gebucht haben und man möglicherweise uns nicht als Zielgruppe ansieht. Das bestellte Wasser wurde mit soviel Schwung eingegossen, dass es teilweise auf dem Tischtuch landete. Der Schraubverschluss ward nach dem ersten Einschenken nicht mehr gesehen... Nachfragen, ob es geschmeckt hat oder ob man noch etwas Trinken möchte, fehl am Platz. Auch die berühmte große Pfeffermühle kam nicht zum Einsatz (auch nicht an anderen Tischen) und stand einsam und verlassen den ganzen Abend herum. Die ausgegangene Tischlampe am Platz wurde erst ausgetauscht, nachdem man sie demonstrativ zur Seite gestellt hat. Insgesamt habe wir die typische italienische Herzlichkeit vermisst, das liebevolle Umsorgen des Gastes. Die Kellner waren mit sich oder ihrem Handy beschäftigt. Wirklich schade! Am Ende macht ein guter Service doch den kleinen feinen Unterschied aus....

Klassische gute Küche im Herzen Frankfurts. Preis Leistung stimmt überragender Service und das Wichtigste fur einen lunch. Das Essen ist excellent und kommt sehr schnell gerne wieder

The restaurant was full likely due to an exhibition in the city, resulting in a limited menu. However, the food was delicious and the overall experience was enjoyable.

I booked here for a party of 8 during an exhbition but 3 of our guests dropped out at last minute (their loss). The restaurant took it in good spirits & we continued with the same table. We did not see a menu but were given 3 options for each course. I quite like this style as each dish is really well executed & certainly was in this case. We had a veggie in our group & they amended the dishes to suit. Have to say - everything was 1st class. Also the wine recommendation & quality great. The guy serving spoke good English & the service levels were great. Food quality was faultless.

Das Essen war wirklich herausragend, V. a. Die Vorspeise mit Lachs und Apfel ist eine der besten gewesen, die ich je hatte. Sowohl kreativ als auch geschmacklich vollmundig Die Hauptspeise, das Rinderfilet mit Portwein, war auch sehr lecker. Das Ambiente war italienisch, jedoch etwas kalt und andere Tische wurden bevorzugt bedient, dies lag allerdings auch an unserer wirklich schlechten Bedienung. Nachdem wir hingesetzt wurden, schaute uns die männliche Bedienung an. Wir fragten ob wir etwas bestellen könnten. Er nickte und blieb weiter stehen. Daraufhin fragten wir nach der Karte. Nach 15 min kam er wieder und wir fragten ob wir nun bestellen könnten. Daraufhin rief er seinen Kollegen, der unsere Bestellung aufnahm. Auch den Nachtisch mussten wir uns mehr erkämpfen als dass er uns kundenorientiert serviert worden wäre Reservierungen werden grundsätzlich nicht online angenommen, hier empfiehlt es sich anzurufen, spiegelt aber das gesamte Service Niveau akkurat wieder

Das Restaurant liegt zwar ein wenig dezentral, aber der Weg lohnt sich definitiv. Tolles Ambiente, hervorragendes Essen und wunderbare Weine! Der Service war zuvorkommend und sehr freundlich. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Das Ambiente des Restaurants ist wirklich sehr ansprechend und schafft eine angenehme Atmosphäre. Besonders die vegane Vorspeise hat mich geschmacklich überzeugt - ein gelungener Start in den Abend. Leider trübte ein Missverständnis bezüglich der Hauptspeise mein Gesamterlebnis. Obwohl mir eine vegane Option zugesichert wurde, wurde ursprünglich eine Käsesauce serviert. Das Personal entschuldigte sich zwar aufrichtig und brachte einen Ersatz, allerdings verging dabei so viel Zeit, dass meine Begleitung bereits mit dem Essen fertig war. Die Ersatzspeise war in Ordnung, konnte jedoch nicht ganz mit meinen Erwartungen angesichts der Preise des Restaurants mithalten. In der heutigen Zeit, in der immer mehr Menschen eine pflanzliche Ernährung bevorzugen oder notwendigerweise verfolgen, sollte es selbstverständlich sein, dass Restaurants auf solche Bedürfnisse eingehen und entsprechende Rücksicht nehmen. Ein reibungsloser Ablauf und eine zügige Lösung bei Unstimmigkeiten sind essenziell, um das Gesamterlebnis für alle Gäste positiv zu gestalten. Ich hoffe, dass das Restaurant zukünftig besser darauf achtet, die Bedürfnisse von Gästen mit verschiedenen Ernährungspräferenzen zu berücksichtigen.

Ambiente, Essen und der Service haben bestens harmoniert, so dass man von einen sehr guten Preis-Leistungsverhältnis sprechen kann.

Super Essen, super Service und super Ambiente. Das Tatar war sehr lecker hat allerdings von der optischen Aufmachung an einen Mett-Igel erinnert.

Köstliches Mittagessen - wir hatten eine Kombination aus dem Lunchmenü und der regulären Karte. Sehr umsichtiger Service und gemütliches Ambiente.

De las mejores pastas que hemos comido en la vida, raciones abundantes, pasta al dente, excelente sabor. Repetiríamos mil veces sin dudarlo. El precio es barato en relación a otros restaurantes por la calidad que ofrecen.

“mehr Schein als Sein” as the German says so. The Primi is better than main course (Dorade Filet is definitely from frozen smells a bit too strong fishy....). But pasta is tasty. Service is polite but cold, if you don't expect anything like home or Gramma, then that's fine. Price of Mittagesmenu is ok. But A La carte is too expensive.

Great Italian food in Frankfurt

Wir waren an einem Freitagabend vor den Betriebsferien im Restaurant Alte Kanzlei. Das Restaurant war nicht sonderlich voll, für uns war das angenehm. Wir hatten die Lachswürfel mit Pistazienkruste als Vorspeise, die waren gut, aber etwas eintönig. Das Rinderfilet mit Portweinsauce und karamellisierten Pilzen war ganz hervorragend. Das Fleisch war butterzart und perfekt gegart. Die karamellisierten Pilze haben wunderbar mit dem Fleisch und der Sauce harmoniert. Zum Nachtisch haben wir uns ein Tiramisu geteilt, das war auch lecker. Die Bedienung war sehr freundlich und sympathisch und hat uns von dem bevorstehenden Heimaturlaub in Kalabrien erzählt. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Leckere Gerichte zu fairen Preisen. Lediglich über die 0,75l Flasche Mineralwasser für 9€ musste ich mich wundern. Die Burrata mit Auberginensalat sowie die Trüffelpasta waren wirklich spitze. Die Rinderfiletscheiben als Vorspeise waren geschmacklich ebenfalls top, für uns allerdings zu ölig. Der Service war in Ordnung, hätte allerdings noch ein bisschen aufmerksamer sein können. Komisch fand ich, dass ein Kellner lediglich Englisch sprechen konnte. Für uns war das jetzt kein Problem, warum ich allerdings in einem Restaurant in Deutschland mein Essen auf Englisch ordern muss, verstehe ich nicht so ganz. Dies aber nur am Rande.

Leider konnte ich keine Zeit zum Essen einplanen. Allerdings hat mich das Ambiente gefangen genommen und mich zum suchen animiert. Werde sicherlich einen Besuch einplanen beim nächsten Aufenthalt in Frankfurt 😉.

Bin mir nicht sicher ob das Personal wirklich deutsch versteht, bekam permanent Wein eingeschänkt, obwohl ich keinen mehr wollte. Alles ziemlich hektisch und laut.

Gediegen, ruhig, hohe Qualität von Essen und Service, diskrete Atmosphäre, gehobenes Preisniveau, absolut angemessen.

Mit einer Firmengruppe von ca. 15Personen hier gegessen: Uns wurde eine Reihe Vorspeisen vorgeschlagen die wir bestellten. Dazu gehörten Burrata, gebratene Pilze mit Trüffel sowie Thunfisch Tartar. Zwischen den Gängen gab es Pasta und zur Hauptspeise konnte man Rinderfilet, Kalbskotelett, Wolfsbarsch oder Seeteufel bestellen. Der Service war super schnell, stets professionell und ging trotz der hohen Anzahl an Personen sehr präsent auf weitere Wünsche ein. Alles vorbildlich. Klare Weiterempfehlung!

Leider ein wenig enttäuscht von der Alten Kanzlei. Service war unmotiviert und ohne erhofften italienischen Charme. Essen war Standard. Die Athmosphäre war leider durch relativ spezielle Hintergrund Musik und weisses Licht nicht sehr gemütlich.

A friendly and atmospheric restaurant. The menu is not the most typical for an Italian restaurant. Not expensive but not the cheapest. The antipasto Rucola with beef tips was a abundant starter. As a fish menu of the day they served monkfish. Very interesting and tasty dish. Hopefully it was sustainably sourced. The restaurant is located in a dark side street. Use the Google Maps to find your way.

Nice atmosphere, cozy classic interior decoration, food was amazing! Especially, the pasta with truffle and the steak was amazing! Tiramisu for the finish highly recommended.

Die Atmosphäre ist angenehm, der Service gut aber dem Essen fehlt geschmacklich der gewisse Pfiff, das Etwas, das in der angebotenen Preiskategorie eigentlich gegeben sein sollte. In der Preiskategorie schmeckt es bei anderen besser 🙁.

Gans nette Italienische restaurant. Doch leider einige Macken: Spaghetti ohne Löffel und Käse serviert. Manche Gerichte waren unfertig serviert (sauce fehlte beim Sea bass fillet) Kellner hatten ab und zu unverständliche Anmerkungen, welche waren erstmal als Beleidigen anerkannt. Zahlungsprozess sehr langsam, und irritierend. Ich kann das Laden leider nicht weiterempfehlen.

Ein gelungener Abend zu zweit, bei dem alles gestimmt hat. Vorspeisen (Oktopus und gebratene Pfifferlinge). Hauptgang (Kalslbsmedallions, Rinderfilet) waren hervorragend. Für ein Dessert war diesmal leider kein Platz mehr.

I love this restaurant. Everything is perfect- the food, the service, the ambience. I had the octopus (main entree). Not only was it beautiful on the plate. It was also so delicious. Even there were amazing lunch specials, I had to have the octopus. I savored every last bite. This is definitely one of my favorite Frankfurt restaurants.
