My dears, you can do better, much better! Sitting for half an hour without a menu, really? When it comes, fine, but also better! One of two champagne glasses had no fizz, the other had. It was swapped upon request, okay, but it shouldn't have gone out like that. Same thing with the gin and tonic: 1. still, 2. fine. Ambience only one star! Why? Because your restroom (men's) is subterranean! The light is broken, the tap is loose, the soap dispenser is loose. I'm curious to see when you'll get it fixed!

The tables were quite close together (you have to like that), the service was okay (friendly and fast, but more on the negatives later), the food was okay: I chose a two-course lunch menu because of the veal scaloppinas, which weren't on the regular menu and, according to the service, can't be ordered on their own. The very, very, very thickly sliced ​​veal (2 pieces) was unfortunately very, very tender and very, very far from what I imagine a scaloppina to be. The primi (or antipasto/i?) included "roast beef, Parmesan wedge, and mushrooms," but the roast beef was also very, very thickly sliced ​​and very, very, very well done... You have to like that kind of thing; I don't. The Parmesan was okay, though... I didn't really want the roast beef as a starter, but rather the Calabrian pasta. According to the friendly waitress, this wasn't possible as a "lunch menu": only an appetizer (antipasto/i?) and a main course were available as a lunch menu combination. Okay, I accepted that without argument, but I wondered if it fit with the pricing on the menu, which reads as follows: "Fish or Meat 2-Course Menu €29.50 | 3-Course Menu €34.50." But regardless, I won't be visiting the restaurant again. My companion was very satisfied with the meal – the very, very, very thick fillet steak also looked perfectly cooked medium. But that didn't help me (and doesn't change my rating), as the chef simply "killed" the scaloppina and roast beef with his preparation, and the comments of the always friendly waitress didn't fit the menu. @Owner's comment: I've removed the reference to the restaurant I like to eat at. Your criticism is correct. However, I would have expected an answer from you as to why I can't get a combination of "pasta" and "meat" – according to your current menu, that's perfectly possible. We had a wonderful dinner here. The ambiance and service were fantastic. The owner recommended a truly great Calabrian wine for us to pair with the sea bass, which was one of the best meals I've ever had in Frankfurt. The desserts were phenomenal and we left Alte Kanzlei extremely satisfied and cannot wait to go back.

A cozy restaurant; we liked the ambiance. The tables were a bit too close together. Luckily, it wasn't busy, and we were able to choose a table for two at the end of the room. At this price, some privacy is also expected. Service was attentive, even if the water wasn't ice-cold as ordered. For €8.50, I expect perfect water. The dishes were varied; the octopus and shrimp appetizers were barely seasoned. The veal fillet was very tasty, tender, and cooked to perfection. The fish of the day was disappointing. Small portions and lacking in refinement. The price of €38 is unjustified. A glass of 02 by the glass of Pinot Gris for €9.50 was also excessive. At these prices, you definitely have to deliver. We often dine at fine restaurants and are happy to pay the price if it's justified.

You can feel the historic charm of the building, and the design is truly successful. Unfortunately, the kitchen didn't quite meet our expectations. The food was, unfortunately, rather mediocre and offered nothing special. We had the opportunity to try several dishes, but unfortunately, we found that many of them were very tasteless. They lacked flavor and refinement, which is disappointing for a restaurant of this type. Another aspect that caught our attention were the very close-spaced tables. It's understandable that in a location like this, every space needs to be used optimally, but the short distance between neighboring tables significantly reduces the coziness and privacy. You sit very close together. The service also didn't quite match the price level. We felt there was still room for improvement to offer guests an all-round high-quality experience that lives up to the prices charged. The Alte Kanzlei has a lot of potential thanks to its ambience, but to create a truly outstanding overall experience, significant improvements are still needed in terms of cuisine and service.

I had the great pleasure of dining at the restaurant – and I'm absolutely thrilled! As soon as you enter the restaurant, you can feel the warm, Mediterranean atmosphere. The decor is stylish and authentic, and the staff is warm and attentive. The menu offers a wonderful selection of traditional Italian dishes. What makes the restaurant special is the attention to detail – both in the kitchen and the service. You can tell the passion that goes into the cooking here. But the main discovery was the monkfish — the dish of the day from the fish section. Very unusual and incredibly tasty! I hope the fish comes from sustainable sources — I want to believe that they care about both quality and ecology here.

Great traditional Italian food and wines. Excellent service.

We were in the old office for the first time. To our surprise, we got a parking space right in front of the restaurant! A very good start to a lovely evening. We were welcomed attentively and the beautiful Italian atmosphere made us want to try the menu. After a delicious aperitif we started with the tartare, which was unfortunately a little under-seasoned and with a bit too much and dominant parmesan cream. The salmon cubes in a pistachio crust are perfect for me - great! There was also a very fairly priced Italian Sauvignon Blanc. The Calabrian octopus was very tasty - great, slightly spicy vegetables and a very tender octopus. Finally, a sweet pistachio parfait. All in all very good and also with fair prices!

Okay, it was the trade fair in Frankfurt, all the restaurants were full, but the Alte Chancellery went way overboard, crammed everything with tables and chairs, and I almost couldn't breathe.

Sehr schönes Ambiente mit der Anmutung einer Anwaltskanzlei mit Gesetzeskommentaren im Regal und Daumier Karikaturen an der Wand. Das Essen war - bis auf einen kleinen Fehler - durchweg sehr lecker und insbesondere die Rinderfilets so wie bestellt. Die empfohlenen Weine sehr passend. Das Dessert ( Pistazien-Schoko-Kuchen) ein gelungener Abschluss. Ich komme gerne wieder.

Ich hatte über das Online-Reservierungssystem eine Reservierung machen lassen. Als Antwort kam eine Eingangsbestätigung, aber keine Bestätigung der Reservierung. Erst am Tag, danach, 30 Minuten (!) vor dem Beginn meiner Verabredung, kam dann die Bestätigung, dass kein Tisch mehr frei sei. Ich hatte diese zweite E-Mail nicht mehr gesehen und stand mit meiner Verabredung im Restaurant wie bestellt und nicht abgeholt. Nächstes Mal gehen wir woanders essen.

I can only report on my bad experience in the “old law firm”. We had received confirmation of our reservation by email. When we arrived at the restaurant we were rudely told that we didn't have a reservation and that we had to leave. Apparently they don't know good customer service! We will not visit the “old office” again and cannot recommend the restaurant.

I've taken photos here several times and also eaten there. Great food, great service and the staff are quick, friendly and accommodating. It's a great atmosphere, it's advisable to reserve here in advance. What the kitchen does, I can say, because I always look behind the scenes, is simply really good. We are lucky here in Frankfurt that we can eat so well. The restaurant is often booked by companies. There are only a few seats outside, but inside it is definitely cozy and the Italian flair comes into its own.

Gourmet weeks - inferior dishes We had booked a 4-course menu through the Frankfurt city events. We were very irritated that the menu we had booked was changed in 3 out of 4 points. Above all, in our opinion, the starters were deteriorated. As a starter there should be: “Beef slices, pecorino cheese and mushrooms” Instead we had fried mushrooms with a parmesan sauce. Except for the mushrooms, this has nothing to do with the booked - and paid for (!) - food and is clearly inferior. Likewise, the intermediate course was not the promised gnocchi, but rather pasta with a tomato sauce. The dessert was also completely different than described in the offer. This is an absolute no-go! I decide to book such an offer because I find the menu appealing. How can it be that 3 gears are randomly exchanged for (at least 2) cheaper versions?! I find this extremely dubious and it really upsets me.

Um es vorweg zu nehmen.... Das Essen ist gut und die Weine waren lecker....auch das Lokal ist schön eingerichtet. Aber leider hätten wir einen besseren Service bei einem solchem Lokal erwartet. Vielleicht lag es daran, dass wir über Frankfurt Stadtevents ein Schlemmermenü gebucht haben und man möglicherweise uns nicht als Zielgruppe ansieht. Das bestellte Wasser wurde mit soviel Schwung eingegossen, dass es teilweise auf dem Tischtuch landete. Der Schraubverschluss ward nach dem ersten Einschenken nicht mehr gesehen... Nachfragen, ob es geschmeckt hat oder ob man noch etwas Trinken möchte, fehl am Platz. Auch die berühmte große Pfeffermühle kam nicht zum Einsatz (auch nicht an anderen Tischen) und stand einsam und verlassen den ganzen Abend herum. Die ausgegangene Tischlampe am Platz wurde erst ausgetauscht, nachdem man sie demonstrativ zur Seite gestellt hat. Insgesamt habe wir die typische italienische Herzlichkeit vermisst, das liebevolle Umsorgen des Gastes. Die Kellner waren mit sich oder ihrem Handy beschäftigt. Wirklich schade! Am Ende macht ein guter Service doch den kleinen feinen Unterschied aus....

I booked here for a party of 8 during an exhbition but 3 of our guests dropped out at last minute (their loss). The restaurant took it in good spirits & we continued with the same table. We did not see a menu but were given 3 options for each course. I quite like this style as each dish is really well executed & certainly was in this case. We had a veggie in our group & they amended the dishes to suit. Have to say - everything was 1st class. Also the wine recommendation & quality great. The guy serving spoke good English & the service levels were great. Food quality was faultless.

Das Essen war wirklich herausragend, V. a. Die Vorspeise mit Lachs und Apfel ist eine der besten gewesen, die ich je hatte. Sowohl kreativ als auch geschmacklich vollmundig Die Hauptspeise, das Rinderfilet mit Portwein, war auch sehr lecker. Das Ambiente war italienisch, jedoch etwas kalt und andere Tische wurden bevorzugt bedient, dies lag allerdings auch an unserer wirklich schlechten Bedienung. Nachdem wir hingesetzt wurden, schaute uns die männliche Bedienung an. Wir fragten ob wir etwas bestellen könnten. Er nickte und blieb weiter stehen. Daraufhin fragten wir nach der Karte. Nach 15 min kam er wieder und wir fragten ob wir nun bestellen könnten. Daraufhin rief er seinen Kollegen, der unsere Bestellung aufnahm. Auch den Nachtisch mussten wir uns mehr erkämpfen als dass er uns kundenorientiert serviert worden wäre Reservierungen werden grundsätzlich nicht online angenommen, hier empfiehlt es sich anzurufen, spiegelt aber das gesamte Service Niveau akkurat wieder

Das Ambiente des Restaurants ist wirklich sehr ansprechend und schafft eine angenehme Atmosphäre. Besonders die vegane Vorspeise hat mich geschmacklich überzeugt - ein gelungener Start in den Abend. Leider trübte ein Missverständnis bezüglich der Hauptspeise mein Gesamterlebnis. Obwohl mir eine vegane Option zugesichert wurde, wurde ursprünglich eine Käsesauce serviert. Das Personal entschuldigte sich zwar aufrichtig und brachte einen Ersatz, allerdings verging dabei so viel Zeit, dass meine Begleitung bereits mit dem Essen fertig war. Die Ersatzspeise war in Ordnung, konnte jedoch nicht ganz mit meinen Erwartungen angesichts der Preise des Restaurants mithalten. In der heutigen Zeit, in der immer mehr Menschen eine pflanzliche Ernährung bevorzugen oder notwendigerweise verfolgen, sollte es selbstverständlich sein, dass Restaurants auf solche Bedürfnisse eingehen und entsprechende Rücksicht nehmen. Ein reibungsloser Ablauf und eine zügige Lösung bei Unstimmigkeiten sind essenziell, um das Gesamterlebnis für alle Gäste positiv zu gestalten. Ich hoffe, dass das Restaurant zukünftig besser darauf achtet, die Bedürfnisse von Gästen mit verschiedenen Ernährungspräferenzen zu berücksichtigen.

“mehr Schein als Sein” as the German says so. The Primi is better than main course (Dorade Filet is definitely from frozen smells a bit too strong fishy....). But pasta is tasty. Service is polite but cold, if you don't expect anything like home or Gramma, then that's fine. Price of Mittagesmenu is ok. But A La carte is too expensive.

Great Italian food in Frankfurt

Wir waren an einem Freitagabend vor den Betriebsferien im Restaurant Alte Kanzlei. Das Restaurant war nicht sonderlich voll, für uns war das angenehm. Wir hatten die Lachswürfel mit Pistazienkruste als Vorspeise, die waren gut, aber etwas eintönig. Das Rinderfilet mit Portweinsauce und karamellisierten Pilzen war ganz hervorragend. Das Fleisch war butterzart und perfekt gegart. Die karamellisierten Pilze haben wunderbar mit dem Fleisch und der Sauce harmoniert. Zum Nachtisch haben wir uns ein Tiramisu geteilt, das war auch lecker. Die Bedienung war sehr freundlich und sympathisch und hat uns von dem bevorstehenden Heimaturlaub in Kalabrien erzählt. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Leckere Gerichte zu fairen Preisen. Lediglich über die 0,75l Flasche Mineralwasser für 9€ musste ich mich wundern. Die Burrata mit Auberginensalat sowie die Trüffelpasta waren wirklich spitze. Die Rinderfiletscheiben als Vorspeise waren geschmacklich ebenfalls top, für uns allerdings zu ölig. Der Service war in Ordnung, hätte allerdings noch ein bisschen aufmerksamer sein können. Komisch fand ich, dass ein Kellner lediglich Englisch sprechen konnte. Für uns war das jetzt kein Problem, warum ich allerdings in einem Restaurant in Deutschland mein Essen auf Englisch ordern muss, verstehe ich nicht so ganz. Dies aber nur am Rande.

Sehr gemütlich und freundlich. Das Essen war sehr lecker.

Leider konnte ich keine Zeit zum Essen einplanen. Allerdings hat mich das Ambiente gefangen genommen und mich zum suchen animiert. Werde sicherlich einen Besuch einplanen beim nächsten Aufenthalt in Frankfurt 😉.

Gediegen, ruhig, hohe Qualität von Essen und Service, diskrete Atmosphäre, gehobenes Preisniveau, absolut angemessen.

Mit einer Firmengruppe von ca. 15Personen hier gegessen: Uns wurde eine Reihe Vorspeisen vorgeschlagen die wir bestellten. Dazu gehörten Burrata, gebratene Pilze mit Trüffel sowie Thunfisch Tartar. Zwischen den Gängen gab es Pasta und zur Hauptspeise konnte man Rinderfilet, Kalbskotelett, Wolfsbarsch oder Seeteufel bestellen. Der Service war super schnell, stets professionell und ging trotz der hohen Anzahl an Personen sehr präsent auf weitere Wünsche ein. Alles vorbildlich. Klare Weiterempfehlung!

Leider ein wenig enttäuscht von der Alten Kanzlei. Service war unmotiviert und ohne erhofften italienischen Charme. Essen war Standard. Die Athmosphäre war leider durch relativ spezielle Hintergrund Musik und weisses Licht nicht sehr gemütlich.
