We had a reservation for four, originally planning to arrive at 7 pm, but then they told us 6 or 8 pm… When we arrived at 6 pm, we were immediately told we had to leave by 2 pm – not a very friendly welcome 😬… Despite our reservation, we were seated at a "cat table" way in the back next to the cloakroom… We ordered pasta with duck, but you practically needed a magnifying glass 🔎 to find the duck 👀… The pasta wasn't al dente at all, but rather overcooked… After we paid, they suddenly claimed we hadn't paid for the drinks, but that's not our problem, apparently… We then paid another 40 euros (without a receipt!) and weren't even offered a complimentary grappa for all the trouble, as was customary with the parents, Luigi and Luana…😬… All in all, we were not satisfied; unfortunately, it's nothing like it used to be…😬

I have to give a shout-out here. We like to try out Italian restaurants in Frankfurt from time to time, and this one is in our top 3 (out of about 20). The food is truly authentic and something different from the usual fare. Absolutely delicious, great atmosphere, and the generous portions, which are really meant for sharing, are worth every penny. We'll definitely be back.

Absolutely outrageous! Suddenly, card payments are no longer accepted – with no prior notice whatsoever. Instead of a proper receipt, you get a handwritten slip of paper with random numbers, which the waitress then simply crumples up and throws away. This is no way to treat guests! It's unacceptable to have to search for an ATM at 10 or 11 pm. If only cash payments are accepted, this must be clearly communicated when making a reservation! The location is very cozy. The pasta is utterly average in terms of taste. There are far better Italian restaurants in Frankfurt. Their only redeeming feature is the generous portion size.

An insider tip in Frankfurt for years, a little off the beaten track in Bornheim. Instead of a show, the magic is created in the kitchen, absolutely authentic, with high-quality ingredients and a culinary taste of vacation. The service is attentive and helpful with the selection – you can be sure you'll be surprised! Attention, three important tips: 1. Be sure to reserve the homemade tiramisu when ordering your drinks! 2. The pasta is plentiful, and you can also take it with you, don't be embarrassed! 3. The restaurant's house wine is traditionally served "to the brim" and is excellent! Ideal for a romantic evening or for larger groups. Reservations are recommended; parking is a matter of luck as it's in a residential area, but there are also parking garages within walking distance.

Don't go here. It's all show and substance. At first glance, everything looks nice. They've added numerous gimmicks to make everything look like a truly fine Italian restaurant. The ambiance and presentation are fine. But you just don't get anything for your money. I paid €30 for mussels (product value max €4!). No bread or pasta. My friends' pasta portions were large and I could eat some, but they weren't particularly special dishes, just pasta with sauce. All completely overpriced, too. Then the waitress poured me red instead of white. Not the end of the world, but all of this quickly gives the impression that this is all just a facade to rip people off. Any halfway decent Italian restaurant serves the same thing for half the price. Even if the pasta is homemade, it's not worth it (I made my own pasta for a few years as a professional chef, and it's not that special). Just a fancy-looking shop for people with more money than sense, let alone knowledge. Absolutely avoid!

Absolute Gem. Delicious fresh Sardinian food

At first glance at the menu, you're a bit surprised by the prices and wonder why you should pay €40 for spaghetti made according to a Sardinian recipe for two people... but as soon as this huge portion, which is really quite a lot even for two people, is in a pan in front of you, your Gernesser heart sings. The pasta isn't pre-cooked! It tastes so excellent, so delicious and authentic, truly authentic Sardinian. No one minds if you share the portion between three people. Then you can at least try the fantastic appetizers beforehand. The wine is actually poured over the rim (as is family tradition), so you simply can't lift it for the first sip. All this in a very pleasant and modern atmosphere with very friendly and young staff, most of whom seem to be part of the family. The price/performance ratio is truly excellent!!! And when I see the photos, my mouth is watering.

There were five of us there and the service was fantastic, especially the wine was full to the brim 😂 We indulged in the little extras. Then we learned something about Grandpa. Great story, keep it up! Parking is a bit of an issue, but it's generally a bit inconvenient in Frankfurt.

Service is outstanding from start to finish. The food is simply delicious — always fresh, full of flavor, and served in generous portions that show real hospitality. Even the desserts were absolutely wonderful, the perfect sweet ending to an unforgettable meal. On top of that, the prices are very fair and thoughtfully set. It’s a place that combines quality, warmth, and authenticity in the most beautiful way. The two gentlemen who served us were very nice and personable—there was no shortage of friendliness. However, the service overall seemed rather chaotic and inattentive. Dishes were mixed up, and the lady who brought them to the table sometimes didn't know whether she was serving lamb or venison. About the dishes (subjective impressions): Homemade pasta: unfortunately tough. Beef pasta: dry and significantly less than advertised (supposedly 300g for 2 people). Pasta with meatballs: very tasty. Venison dish (assuming it was actually venison): very good in taste. Salad: large, fresh, and at €21, a reasonable price. Vegetarian pasta: unsalted, bland, and poorly prepared. Wine (€58): mediocre and overpriced. Ramazotti (€12): unreasonably expensive. Dessert (€42 for two scoops of ice cream, a small chocolate cake with a liquid center, and panna cotta): The price-performance ratio is outrageous—especially unfortunate since it was intended as a birthday surprise. Water (0.75 l for €8.50): no comment. The portions are very large overall, but seem unbalanced: after three-quarters of a plate, you're usually left with only dry pasta. Conclusion: The restaurant certainly has potential, but at the moment, they're resting too much on the existing hype. The price-performance ratio isn't right in many places, and the service needs urgent improvement.

There were three of us there today and we ordered three pasta dishes and wine. When we arrived, a maximum of four tables were occupied. After we ordered, it took over an hour for our food to arrive. Then only two dishes came because one was forgotten. So we had the choice of letting the food get cold or having someone wait. Instead, we shared between three. A dish that was supposed to be made with fresh pasta (the most expensive) ended up with ready-made spaghetti. As an apology, we were given a bag with five slices of bread. All the tables that came after us had already received their appetizers and main courses. Some who arrived after us left before they had even gotten anything to eat. We were still in good spirits until then and asked for at least a refill of our two wine glasses with white wine as an apology. We were refused. I don't understand that either. This is an expensive restaurant, and nothing is done for any oversights or delays, even upon request, except for the small amount of bread that these Italian restaurants usually serve up front. Two of us weren't there for the first time, but all of us were definitely there for the last time. Anyone who actively chooses to do this these days apparently doesn't need customers, and fortunately, there are plenty of alternatives in Frankfurt!

This was my third time at No. 16 and I would come back again and again. Totally authentic food and FINALLY PASTA THAT'S REALLY ALDENTE! Just like they eat it in Italy. I also passed this on as a compliment to the restaurant. They thanked me and said that many people get upset because the pasta isn't cooked through... A tragedy, in my opinion. The portions are very large. You should either come when you're very hungry or share something. Packing isn't a problem, though. The concierge is very tasty, and the quality of the food is generally fantastic. During peak times, you have to be patient, and the service gets a bit hectic, but the family team manages everything with ease and extremely good coordination! So, please keep up the good work in terms of quality and taste; we'll be happy to come back again and again!

We will definitely avoid Ristorante No. 16 in the future!!! Unfortunately, we had a very disappointing experience at Ristorante No. 16, which is why we will not visit in the future. As the innkeeper himself said – there are many Italian restaurants in Frankfurt. Fortunately, that's true, and many of them place great value on hospitality and service orientation. On the occasion of my big birthday, we wanted to spend a nice evening with the family - instead, the mood was significantly dampened by the way the innkeeper treated me. Unfortunately, the chemistry wasn't right from the start, but in the catering industry this should be compensated for by professionalism. Here the opposite was the case. The food was okay, technically solid, but not exceptional. Some dishes were clearly too salty. The service at the table was quick and the employees made an effort - we would like to emphasize that. However, the main problem was in the reception and dealing with guests. We arrived about 30 minutes before our reservation time - certainly not ideal, but unfortunately necessary in our case. Yet we were completely ignored for over 20 minutes. No brief note, no greeting, no explanation – neither a simple “We don’t have any space at the moment, please be patient,” nor a friendly offer to wait. Instead, we stood in the narrow entrance area - with a stroller and a sleeping child - while more and more guests arrived. When I mentioned at the actual reservation time that we would like to sit down, I was told disproportionately sharply that we had arrived too early and that they were making an effort. The tone was particularly inappropriate - loud, didactic, and finally even condescending when they suddenly switched to Italian and called me “arrogant”. I have rarely experienced such a level of indifference and arrogance towards guests in the catering industry. We are aware that hosts can also have a bad day - but respectful treatment of guests should always be guaranteed.

Holy Moly…. Those are portions! Delicious pasta dishes and vino. It's great to go with a few friends. Calamari were the burner.

We've been going to No. 16 for over 30 years. The food is delicious, BUT the prices are constantly rising, the portions have gotten smaller, the homemade sausages have unfortunately become worse, the bread has been reduced to a minimum, the prices for a glass of wine are no longer even on the menu, when paying, the owner calls it a bargain, and the schnapps afterward has been completely canceled. What a shame! The acoustics are very, very loud.

We were recently at Ristorante No.16. We were warmly welcomed and given a nice place. The food is relatively meat-heavy, but this is probably due to the typical Sardinian cuisine. Nevertheless, it tasted excellent. The starters in particular stood out again, even if they had their price (Tartare di Manzo). All in all, it was a great visit and if you're looking for a classier, slightly under-the-radar Italian restaurant that has more to offer than just pizza, Ristorante No.16 is the perfect place to go.

Exceptionally good and home-made pasta with great sauces and so much more. Simply incredibly delicious. Go and enjoy, highly recommended! The portions are quite large. We like to take a main course each, share a main course and enjoy one of the best tiramisu we have ever had in the world. Attention, we always order the tiramisu with the meal, later it is often sold out... the house wine in the glass is also delicious and “fun”, we have never experienced such excitement in a restaurant and we are looking forward to it.

Anyone who knew the origins of No. 16 on Rohrbachstrasse experienced a sense of deja vu, at the latest when the wine was poured at the table. The three of us spent a very nice evening here - and sometimes that's what matters. We were able to exchange ideas undisturbed in a quiet atmosphere. The friendly service gave us good advice. Self-confident and positive in attitude. Class. Yes - the portions are large, as is often described, but: the food was really unusual and we enjoyed it very much. We shared the starter; We enjoyed the main courses alone. The red wine was very good. We also celebrated the overflowing glass. The ambience is interesting. The house appears new, the furnishings have many beautiful details - even in the toilet facilities, effort has been made to use good materials. But especially in the guest room you can see the work of a specialist. Someone even thought about the details of the service employees' aprons. So in summary: Not cheap – but very good.

Responded to inquiries but didn't actively offer anything. Such as parmesan or dessert or similar. Ambiance is a matter of taste. Nothing extraordinary. Stuffed animals are not my thing.

Nice atmosphere and then things get difficult. Unfortunately, the service was really poor, our waitress, who is probably called Josie, immediately thought of the song lyrics "Josie's on a vacation far away", not only did she shine at my absence, orders were also placed despite her read everything again, forgot everything (ordered two starters, only one came, the second only when asked) and sometimes mixed things up (the wrong main courses came to the table several times) until finally everything was correct. The glass of wine is filled to the top with the justification "We are a traditional house", tradition or not, I still don't want to run the risk of having the red wine on my clothes or dirtying the table where I have another glass want to spend a cozy evening. The only positive things that stood out were the waitress with the crazy glasses and the gentleman paying. As for the food, the bruschetta was actually very good, although priced in the upper league. The Pasta Tres’ Arrastusu - well. The companion sitting next to me just said, "It smells like vomit" - the food actually had a strong sour smell, possibly due to the advertised Sardinian sheep's cheese. The second disappointment, the suckling pig turned out to be some kind of cured meat/sausage, we assumed fresh meat here. There was also minced meat (the taste was more like beef), but there was nothing on the menu and we were very surprised and the combination didn't necessarily make the dish any better. The portion size should justify the price, I could go with that if we were talking about fresh meat. We weren't even asked whether we would like dessert or espresso. Conclusion - a hyped shop that, in our opinion, unfortunately doesn't live up to the hype, there are much better and cheaper Italian restaurants in Frankfurt and the surrounding area.

I know the number. 16 for 30 years now. The prices of the portions seem expensive at first glance, but two people can easily eat it. I ate my best fillet steak here several times. The tiramisu is also the best (all dishes are sensational). Anyone stopping in Frankfurt should definitely reserve a table and dine here (warning, it's like sex here: slow enjoyment is the most lasting and best way. So please bring enough time for a nice evening)

Best Italian....Sardian restaurant in Frankfurt. Honestly insanely amazing. I once went on a Harry Potter Walking tour through London and this is on the same level. If pizza quattro formaggi was a restaurant, this would be it. Make sure to reserve in advance.

A very tasty Italian restaurant in Frankfurt-Bornheim. There is no pizza, just delicious authentic Italian cuisine served in pots. The portions are very generous, you can also have the leftovers packed up so you can enjoy them again at home. The appetizer platter was very varied and offered more than enough food for two people. You have to wait a while for the main courses, as the menu suggests, but you will be rewarded with very tasty pasta. The service was courteous and friendly, and the atmosphere in the restaurant invited you to linger. It's nice to be able to try such authentic cuisine instead of the classic pizza-pasta Italians. It is essential to make a reservation as the restaurant is very busy - even during the week.

Top Italy 100% Definitely the best restaurant in Frankfurt, unique and quality dishes with large portions and very fresh ingredients. The wine list is spectacular and the environment is one of a kind!! A culinary experience that will be difficult to forget.

I ordered vongole pasta, which is not commonly found in Germany, and it was delicious, but not special. The wine was delicious, and I was impressed by the wine poured in a full glass, saying it was done the traditional way by my grandfather. I am taking off one star because the price is too expensive.

Ristorante 16 can be found in the middle of Bornheim and parallel to the lively 'Bergerstrasse'. In a quiet location with parking options. The food tastes good. The portions are enough for two people (which justifies the somewhat high prices). The staff are friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is very cozy and nicely decorated.

This was the worst Italian restaurant I've been to in my entire life. It had no taste and lacked “love”. The staff wasn't particularly nice or helpful either. The ambience was mediocre and standard. Personally, I wouldn't recommend it.

I was very grateful for the information in the reviews that the portions are very large and are best shared. Then the prices justify themselves again. The quality was also outstanding. Reservation is a must, at least on weekends. I just don't like these 2 table times (6 p.m. - 8 p.m., 8 p.m. - XX p.m.), you either have to eat super late or get "kicked out" and have to end the evening somewhere else (unfortunately there are hardly any restaurants that don't handle this) . You can only pay with card from 50€. Hence 1 star deduction.

This is mainly about food. When it's full it's loud and the ambience is quite plain. We shared a starter of Sardinian specialties. Delicious. My rigatoni with suckling pig was wonderfully al dente and very tasty. Huge portion in a tin pot. There are only 2 average open wines of the quality country wines without any special character. A bit too expensive for 7 euros from a 2l bottle. As far as I know, the variety of Sardinian dishes are not available anywhere else in France. Tip: simply share dishes, then you can manage the portions and the prices will be more affordable.
