Four of us and I personally went there for the first time on advice. A great store with a wide range and great location. Unfortunately I was very quickly disappointed with the food! After the great dishes like the chicken teriyaki and the falafel bowl were brought to the table, I was served my schnitzel with fried egg and fried potatoes. Considering the fact that the other two dishes were really great, I wonder why people choose a pre-breaded frozen schnitzel from the fryer for the schnitzel! The fried potatoes were also full of fat and rather less tasty. Sorry, but you're more likely to get a schnitzel like this in the train station bistro but not in a shop like yours! Maybe you'll think about switching to fresh schnitzel. Small private catering establishments can easily do this! I gave the feedback to a waitress while clearing away and hope that the feedback was passed on!

We didn't get any food, we left again, waited 45 minutes for a salad and still didn't see it, so we went on to a fast food chain. Many who came after us had received their food, desserts and bill. We will avoid these “in gastros” in the future But at over 50 we are no longer the target group and we understand that.

Were there last Friday when the weather was beautiful. The service was very attentive, bringing water and a bowl for our dog. This is a big plus point for us. The food was very tasty and the drinks were tasty. Gladly again!!!

Food super delicious! However, instead of the normal gyoza, we were brought the Gyoza BOWL.. (costs a lot more than what we wanted) we also pointed to the card so there shouldn't be any misunderstanding.. well, everyone makes mistakes sometimes but that was of course a small minus point. Staff otherwise friendly except some could do with a bit of work

Yesterday, I went here for dinner with a dear friend after work. I was pleasantly surprised by the wide selection, the lovely atmosphere outside in the sunshine, and the really good service. I had the rösti with salmon and a blackcurrant spritzer – both very delicious. If my journey takes me back to Magdeburg, I'd love to come back here.

It's been a while since we've been there because the service and food had dropped off at some point. But on Sunday we spontaneously came over for dinner and were thrilled! Our waiter was fantastic and really seemed to enjoy his job. Maybe it's because it's new and brings a breath of fresh air into the store. And the food was delicious, both visually and taste-wise. A cool location in the center of Magdeburg with a chilled outdoor area. A modern ambiance and, for the most part, very friendly staff. There are exceptions to the rule. 😉 A great location for pedestrians, cyclists, and even drivers (underground parking in the building). A generous brunch buffet and delicious à la carte dishes, including vegetarian and vegan options, are highly recommended.

We came here at short notice on Saturday lunchtime with 11 people. The staff had a lot to do in the beautiful weather. Nevertheless, we were served very kindly and relaxed and were informed in advance if something would take longer. The food came for everyone at the same time and was delicious, small extra requests were no problem. Thank you, gladly again!

Disastrous burger. The burger meat was like a rubber sole. Poor consistency, poorly seasoned or rather not seasoned at all, like a €1 microwave burger and not properly cooked. I didn't finish the burger either. Actually one of the worst burgers I've ever had.

We visit Alex several times a year, usually when we want to go out for a spontaneous meal, and have always found a place. The food is excellent and the prices are reasonable. We are particularly enthusiastic about the delicious lemonades and drinks that are offered here. The waitresses, who we met over the course of over 30 visits, were always very friendly and enjoyed their work. However, the location is a bit noisy, which is due to the many seats in Alex. If you are looking for a romantic evening for two, you may want to choose another location.

Friendly staff, but we waited half an hour for two waffles, and then the Bueno waffle was missing the cookie ice cream. The iced coffee is far too watery and on the menu it says it comes with 2 scoops of ice cream, but it only came with one. Just way too expensive for what you get.

Everything was great, but unfortunately the air conditioning is too cold. When asked which dish I would recommend...all of them 😁

Very bad staff on March 8, 2025 at 8 p.m., we were told very rudely, "The table is not free, go out." Even though it didn't say there were tables reserved. I won't visit here again.

I had dinner here with friends today. We quickly got a seat without a reservation and didn't have to wait long for service. In my opinion, the food is a bit too expensive, but it tastes good. The service was also very friendly and responded to you personally. A rock solid 9.5/10; worth it, gladly again.

Cool location. Outdoor sunny spots are in great demand, especially in spring. The service was very friendly and remained calm even under stress. The only thing that was a bit negative was the 20 minute wait for his coffee. But it still remains the first port of call when you are in Magdeburg.

The menu is quite extensive, there is probably something for almost everyone. Adapted to the “spirit of the times” with bowls full of “superfoods” etc. My problem: it is very expensive in relation to what you get. If I pay €17 for a bowl that doesn't fill you up enough (and there are even more expensive ones out there), then I expect it to be at least consistently good. Unfortunately that wasn't the case. It was mostly tasty but some ingredients didn't fit in at all and rather ruined it. This is of course subjective, but interestingly my counterpart felt the same way (we had decided on the same thing). The waiters seem irritated when you decide not to have a drink because of the prices and then ask again later. I don't think it's that good. The room is very large with countless tables, there is more upstairs. This means it is very loud and there are a lot of impressions hitting you all the time. Going out to eat isn't really a comfortable option, you have to deal with it. In my opinion, this spoils the ambience, if there is one, I honestly can't say. Maybe I'll go back at some point to order the bowl in question without the incriminated ingredients, but for me it's rather tiring and out of my budget.

I like going there, especially for the breakfast buffet. The price-performance ratio is right and it is always good. The service has always been good and everyone was very nice. Because it's such a big store and so open, the acoustics aren't great. But that doesn't hurt Alex either.

If you want fresh Kaiserschmarrn, this is definitely the wrong place for you. I ordered one which was both cold and very hard in some places (probably left in the air for too long). Apparently they serve old food here... I don't even want to think about it. There was a new portion but it wasn't fresh either, just warmed up.

Very easy to reach by public transport. Located right in the city center. Restaurant is spread over 2 floors. Sitting outside is also possible. Very extensive and delicious breakfast buffet. Pay once and eat until you are full. Drinks have to be paid extra, which is completely OK. Very friendly and attentive staff.

Friday afternoon, looking for a restaurant that was open, we ended up there by chance. The reception was very nice, a place for two was quickly found without a reservation. The service didn't take long to arrive. She was also able to advise us on food. Even though it was quite full, the food came quickly. And what should I say? It was just so delicious! So delicious that we ate there again at night after a concert. The selection is really good. Big plus point - there are also vegan alternatives!

The Alex was once a chain with somewhat expensive but good burgers - a reasonable standard that can be found everywhere, reliable and simply good. It wasn't the first place you'd turn to for food - no, you looked at the other restaurants in the area and the Alex was the comparison - someone that couldn't beat the Alex's value for money or at least If you get close, it's probably not worth a visit. That has changed - Alex now serves in a different price range. 17 euros for a burger are restaurant prices. But the new burgers are worth it. Bigger, better tasting, more creative - the "Butcher Burger" (if I remember the name correctly) with the fried egg and mustard sauce was one of the top 3 burgers I've ever had (sorry, the top spot undoubtedly belongs to a game meat burger Onion chutney and goat cheese that I once had in a restaurant on the north coast of Scotland). If Alex used to set the bar for restaurants with its castles and drinks, now it's simply one, and a damn good one - similar to what Vapiano once was for pizza.

It was delicious again as always, everyone was friendly. Everything was just right. Keep it up :)

The waiters seem rude as most of them make faces. Luckily we caught a friendly waitress. It seemed as if they were overwhelmed by the number of guests, as it took a long time until someone came to serve us. After we placed our order it took a long time again, this time a whole hour, until we had food and drink on the table. Even though the restaurant wasn't extremely full, there were still several free tables around us. The food needed improvement. We both ordered a burger. The meat didn't taste good, it wasn't freshly made but simply a frozen piece of meat that was fried. I think we won't come again. I cannot recommend this restaurant. Magdeburg has better restaurants to offer that offer both better food and better service.

Found the restaurant, guests, ambience and staff to be very pleasant. Had teriyaki chicken with vegetables (sprouts, bean pods, etc., on sweet potatoes with teriyaki-kbo blue sauce) for €15.90 and then waffles with hot cherries and cream for around €7 plus drinks. The Ulrichplatz in front of it is also very clean and has a nice view.

We love your breakfast buffet, no matter what city we are in, we love being at Alex.

Nach 7-stündiger Autofahrt noch einen kleinen Umweg und .... endlich. In gemütlicher Atmosphäre einen kleines, leichtes Abendessen genießen. Hab mich seit dem Fahrtbeginn drauf gefreut und es war wie gewünscht. Feines, leichtes Essen. Für jeden etwas dabei. Die Vielfalt wie gewohnt. Auch die Bedienung (Svetlana) ließ keine Wünsche unerfüllt. Bei Gelegenheit gern wieder.

We were there yesterday on the way to the parking garage because we wanted to have a coffee. The waitress, Claudia, was super nice and personable, someone who enjoyed their work. We sat outside (lovely in December) with a view of the illuminated sculpture with classical music. And because the cakes on the menu smiled at us so much, we each ordered a piece. well, coffee and cake were really very good. And there was a painted thank you on the bill. A look at the map promises good things, very varied. We would love to come back and try some of it. A clear thumbs up!

We always enjoy going to Alex. Great service, always nice and accommodating and even up for a joke. We like it very much. Food was also great and sufficient.

Everything was fine so far, the service was nice and actually quite quick. There was always someone at the table asking if everything was okay. (some people like it, others find it annoying) The only thing that was really stupid is that when you sit down you are immediately asked what you would like to drink..... Yes in my case coffee, which came very quickly. The problem then, I could only order the cake after reading the menu. Coffee was gone, cake came later. My tip is to wait, look at the menu first and say when you order that you want the coffee with the cake, otherwise you will order again. ,,Tactics,, ❓️❓️❓️ Oh yes, one more thing.... I know that prices are rising everywhere at the moment, but for some products you should really consider increasing the prices like Cola €6 or reducing the amount on the plate, salad for example Price-performance. Let's be honest, the purchase for this isn't nearly as high ❗️Something like that is very intimidating, many guests will definitely not come back. ❗️My impression❗️ Otherwise I can only say that I liked it and I would be happy to go to ALEX again.......as soon as I'm financially better again🤗 Thank you
