Unfortunately, the service is very poor. Slow, not particularly friendly, and unmotivated, with a lot of forgetfulness (I had to get my own cutlery after waiting 10 minutes; my kitchen order was completely forgotten). The bowl I ordered was delicious, but a bit sparsely stocked for the price. Unfortunately, there was also a hair in the food. The restaurant thrives primarily on its good location. For these prices, I expect better quality and, above all, hospitality.

If you don't mind waiting an hour for your drink and every subsequent one, especially the bill, it takes a really long time. Perfect place if you don't mind waiting, perfect place.

Phew, it takes forever to order a coffee, and by the time it arrives, you're already wondering whether you shouldn't have sat next door at the ice cream parlor... But I had considered something to eat. Since the waitress was rarely visible and didn't allow eye contact when they were at another table, it remained a question. The second time I ordered a coffee, I automatically assumed it was a small one, so bad luck, no sales. Better to chat with the five people at the counter, I don't know, maybe updates from the weekend?! How can such a large place (which was almost empty) survive like this? Unfortunately, there won't be a next time.

Today we were at "Alex" in Kassel. Dogs are allowed in this café, which we liked. We have a dog who, although a bit large, is usually calm. Upon entering the café, our dog suddenly became afraid of an employee. He was startled, jumped up, and tried to escape. The whole thing only lasted a few minutes – then the dog calmed down, and everything was fine again. We sat down, ordered food and drinks, and waited for our food as usual. Shortly afterward, an employee came up to us – unfortunately, I don't know his name, but he said he was from Egypt – and addressed us in a very rude manner. Without greeting or understanding, he immediately told us to come without our dogs next time. Our dog was already completely calm at that point and wasn't bothering anyone. We pointed out that dogs were allowed in this café – but the employee continued to speak very rudely. He said something like, "The other employees were afraid of our dog." The dog was neither aggressive nor loud, but merely briefly startled. I tried several times to end the conversation politely and calmly, but the employee simply continued arguing – in a tone that was neither professional nor respectful. In the end, the situation became so uncomfortable that we asked for our food to go. Our drinks – which we had just received – remained completely full on the table. We weren't even offered to take them with us, which we found particularly rude and disrespectful. I later told another employee what happened – especially that we were told the others were "afraid" of our dog. This employee was visibly surprised and even a little shocked by his colleague's behavior. We are tourists in Kassel, and this incident unfortunately had a severe impact on our mood. The "Alex" is a really nice restaurant with a pleasant atmosphere – but with such unfriendly and disrespectful employees, I definitely can't recommend it to anyone in Kassel.

The food is okay, as is the ambiance. However, this restaurant doesn't shine with its service. It takes an eternity for your order to be taken and drinks to be prepared. You'll end up waiting a very long time or even being forgotten, and that's when the restaurant is empty. Friendliness is unfortunately also a foreign concept here.

There's always something wrong. I've been here at least 8 times. Cutlery or plates dirty. (They seem to wash everything by hand?!) After pointing this out, the steak knife was returned after 2 minutes. Apparently the SAME knife, because the dried-on food residue was smaller but still there. The steak and grilled vegetables were so lukewarm that not even the herb butter melted on them. It's also quite common for orders to be completely forgotten or mixed up. €4.90 is ridiculous for a spritzer. It's time to finally draw a line under it, never again Alex. Dear Google Overlords, why isn't this allowed to be posted?

Very tasty food. The prices are reasonable, and the portions were good too. The staff is very friendly and quiet. The volume was quite loud, so you almost had to shout to be heard. But if you sit outside, the volume goes down again, and you can have a normal conversation.

I've known ALEX for years. Don't go there much because the service isn't great. Made an exception today and visited. Same game again. Waited over half an hour for 3 cappuccinos. Then they were cold too. Of the 2 croissants that were initially ordered, only one arrived. The rolls from the buffet were dry and the pancakes were undercooked. The pudding tasted like 0815! Service impatient and chaotic. I think there are too many tables for the number of employees. Maybe it would be wise to downsize and do better quality. I just can't give it any more stars. If it stays like this until the documentary, it will unfortunately not reflect a positive image of Kassel.

It's a nice shop, especially after the renovation. However, the service gets worse from time to time. The service is often annoyed and unfriendly and you wait ages until you get anything at all. Every time we were there, we got drinks and food separately. And sometimes you wait 40 minutes for a simple cocktail and then it wasn't even good. The food tastes really good, but the extremely long wait and the fact that everyone at the table gets their food at different times is really more than frustrating.

It's really strange. Sometimes the menu as well as the orders and the bill come super quickly, and sometimes it takes up to an hour for the menu to even arrive. If the same thing happens again with the food or the bill, you sit there for two to three hours - for no apparent reason. The waiters are sometimes out and about and make sure everyone has everything. And sometimes they just stand around, looking at the floor or talking to each other. I also noticed that this rarely has anything to do with the number of guests.

I would like to rate the food/drink, but my girlfriend and I sat at our place for a whole hour after ordering without getting anything. At a neighboring table, two who arrived later received a (!) drink straight away, but the lady at this table shared our fate and had to wait 40 minutes for her drink, while her partner of course finished his drink in that time. When we wanted to leave, we were given the feeling that we were too impatient and should wait a little longer because it was a bit more crowded. My first time Alex and definitely the last time, especially with this service and the steep prices.

I recently had dinner at Alex with a friend and would particularly like to highlight the service - especially the young man named Martin!! Not only was he extremely friendly and accommodating, but he also reacted impressively calmly and professionally in a really unpleasant situation with a very unfriendly guest. Despite the outrageous behavior, he remained calm, polite and always had a smile on his face. You could tell that he had a real talent for dealing with people. An employee like this is a real asset for every restaurant! Thank you very much, Martin – I would love to come back because of people like you!

We went to the breakfast buffet with my family because it was my father's birthday. Special thanks to the waiter Marian, who took great care of us. The food was delicious, there was a lot to choose from and the buffet was always well filled.

I was with Alex this afternoon. I wanted to order a tea and the waiter in the terrace didn't take my order. I waited 15 minutes and he was in a very bad mood and thank God there wasn't much going on. Never again with Alex.

Unfortunately, the buffet disappointed us a bit. Because Alex always has delicious things during the week, we expected delicious cakes, Kaiserschmarn and fresh fruit, among other things. Worst service I have ever experienced! You wait outside forever until someone comes to the table to take your order and then the drinks are brought out one by one. You have to have a lot of time to be able to enjoy a drink together there.

Cakes, ice cream and coffee are delicious. You should have a bit of patience until you get what you ordered, the shop is buzzing. Since the Alex is busy, it is also quite loud in there, which we found a bit annoying.

Wanted to buy some cake to take away. Wait an impossibly long time. Were ignored MULTIPLE times. A waiter looked at me and ran straight to the customer BEHIND ME and asked how he could be of help. Service there has always been bad, but if I just want to quickly buy something to take away and several people are just standing there staring into space, it no longer has anything to do with service or anything else. Finally someone came and said he was going back straight away, then cleared several tables and re-covered them, came back then took the cake order and disappeared again when he came back the order was passed on to someone who was obviously busy. Then of course we had to wait again. Then we had to wait again to pay, which could have been done in one go. If there weren't any pregnancy cravings involved, I would NEVER have waited THIS LONG. Impossible, no wonder that no one gets to see new faces every few months. But the cake was super tasty, I have to say.

The breakfast buffet at Alex offers a large selection of dishes to suit every taste. Whether sweet or savory, nothing is left to be desired. Of course, there is a lot going on at this price/performance ratio and you should definitely reserve in advance. There are no queues at the buffet itself, but you have to expect occasional slalom runs on the way there. Despite everything, an absolute recommendation from me! If a café already offers a play area, it should ensure that it is child-friendly and clean. Unfortunately, the toys were very dirty, the pens were worn out and the carpet was very dirty. My waffles were burnt, black, with black oil residue and cold. My coffee didn't come for 30 minutes! Therefore, I will no longer visit this café nor recommend it to others! Most of the employees were very unfriendly, annoyed and treated each other badly in front of the guests.

Delicious drinks and a pleasant atmosphere! One of the few restaurants open late - very convenient. One star deducted because the waiter who served us used too much perfume. It was so strong that you could hardly breathe 😅. I think that the smell, like work clothes, should remain neutral.

Unfortunately, not only was the hot chocolate not hot, but only lukewarm. The rump steak with Mediterranean vegetables and herb potatoes wasn't hot either. Everything was also poor in terms of taste. In the Caesar salad you also had to look for all the components except the lettuce with a magnifying glass. In terms of price, however, everything was on the upper side. We had an ugly burger, the steak, bruschetta and the salad as well as three drinks for around 83 euros. Definitely not recommended!

Auf unserer Durchreise nach Dänemark übernachteten wir in Kassel und machten uns abends auf den Weg in die Innenstadt, um etwas zu essen. Im ALEX Kassel wurden wir fündig – und wir waren begeistert! Der Service war extrem freundlich und aufmerksam, die Speisen waren top und preislich völlig in Ordnung. So konnten wir einen gemütlichen Abend genießen, bevor es zurück ins Hotel und am nächsten Tag weiterging. Den ALEX in Kassel können wir nur wärmstens empfehlen – ein perfekter Ort für ein entspanntes Abendessen!

A place where you feel comfortable It's always a pleasure to be at Alex in Kassel. I especially love the coffees, simply excellent! But the food is also convincing: every dish has its own charm and is perfect in its own way. Even something like a currywurst is a highlight. Overall a very nice place. The staff is sometimes slow and argues in front of the guests but otherwise ok. The breakfast is okay for the price. The positive thing is that you get a lot of alcohol in the morning. The ambience is appropriate and doesn't seem like it's a place. But the acoustics could still be worked on.

It's unbelievable that so much money was invested in renovating the shop and then such poor quality is served. Anyone who says the food there is good has probably never tasted really good food in their life. It looked terrible - and that's exactly how it tasted. I would have liked to tell the waiter what I thought, but no one bothered to ask. One thing is certain for me: I will never eat at this place again and I won't recommend any of my friends to go there either.

However, due to this good service, it is recommended to order in advance. As a single person you always get a place, but with several it becomes difficult. The price-performance ratio is also good.

The ALEX Restaurant in Kassel is part of a popular restaurant chain known for its relaxed atmosphere and diverse menus. It is located on Obere Königsstraße, right next to the busy Friedrichsplatz. I was at Eich's for cocktails and they were about twice as many hours late as the DB has in a year. bottomless impudence. and then all 3 drinks at different times???? cheekiness. Overall, I'll never go here again. (also smelled a bit like grandma)

My visit to. Alex was spontaneous. Despite the full house during the evening service, we quickly got a seat. Drinks and food service were received quickly and served quickly. Excellent in taste. Clear recommendation!

We always enjoy being here! The food is tasty and the service is always at its best. In our opinion, people work here who love their job and do what is possible with full commitment.  Sometimes there's just something wrong with it and things don't go as planned (who doesn't know that?).
