ALEX Hamburg Überseebrücke in Hamburg

During our four-day stay in Hamburg, we visited ALEX at Überseebrücke twice – and for good reason! The service was friendly and efficient, and the value for money was excellent. The selection is extensive, and we found the pictures on the menu particularly helpful, making it easier to choose. The breakfast buffet is delicious and beautifully presented – a perfect start to the day. And the view of the harbor is simply breathtaking – a true feast for both the eyes and the palate. We were especially pleased that the staff recognized us on our second visit and gave us a warm welcome – that's not something you can take for granted these days. Overall, a fantastic experience that we will definitely remember. We'll be back!

We were a group of five and arrived at the restaurant around noon. Since it was very busy, we waited patiently in the waiting area. Several groups arrived after us: one with eight people, one with four, and many couples. After waiting for over half an hour, the later-arriving groups were suddenly seated one after the other. First, the group of eight (split into six and two people) was seated immediately, then even the group of four, who were far behind us, was given a table for five. Numerous couples who arrived after us were also all served before us. When we spoke to the staff member in charge, she simply waved us off and said that she was "not responsible for seating this group." After waiting for more than 30 minutes, and after dozens of guests who arrived after us had already been seated, we still hadn't been given a table – so we decided to leave the restaurant. We will definitely not be returning. When a restaurant doesn't adhere to the basic principle of "first come, first served" or ignores the legitimate concerns of its guests, it's simply disrespectful. Our guests were very disappointed – for us, it was an extremely bad experience.

The price-performance ratio is not okay. A Mediterranean quiche for €12.90 is smaller than a saucer.

⭐⭐️☆☆☆ Disappointing – “Currywurst Deluxe” is not a deluxe experience I went to ALEX Hamburg Überseebrücke and ordered the “Currywurst Deluxe” for a hefty €15.80. My expectations were high! Unfortunately, the dish was a huge disappointment: a tiny portion (6 small pieces of sausage), no curry sauce!, just a hint of mayonnaise, hardly any onions (half an onion strip) or herbs (I hope ALEX isn't referring to the greens on the fries; if so, no comment). Instead, the sausage was topped with a few fried onions and a visually and gustatorily questionable onion ring as decoration. The “mild chilies” turned out to be powder on the fries. The whole thing arrived lukewarm. I spoke to the server about it, but only received a polite apology – no attempt at compensation or a solution. For almost €16, I simply expect more than a few lukewarm pieces of sausage without sauce and a side dish. Even the visually inviting seating quickly proved to be very uncomfortable, which further marred the overall experience. In short: Overpriced, uninspired, and far from "deluxe" in terms of taste – unfortunately, I can't recommend it. BUT the service is extremely friendly and attentive, and the dessert is truly top-notch! ♡

We love Alex! That's exactly why, after our AIDA cruise, we walked 3km from our hotel to Alex to eat there. As always, amazing and a great atmosphere.

In my opinion, it's a tourist trap. The price-performance ratio is completely off, the food was cold, and we had to wait forever. The only positive thing is the location at the harbor, unfortunately.

Wonderful restaurant with very friendly service.

Alex at the Landungsbrücken piers offers the same excellent selection of food and drinks as other restaurants in the chain. From the upper floor or the tables at the front downstairs, you have a lovely view of the harbor. However, getting a good seat usually requires a bit of luck. When it's busy, you might have to wait a while for the (admittedly excellent) service.

Where do we even begin? The staff was overwhelmed and didn't understand what we wanted. The seating on the ground floor was unfortunately quite uncomfortable for people over 1.80m tall. The large glass front made you feel like you were being grilled. The portions could definitely be improved in terms of both quantity and presentation. Conclusion: Unfortunately, it's nothing like the old Alster Pavilion, where everything was a hundred times better and more pleasant 🤧😪.......

Perfect location for a restaurant. On sunny days, you need luck to get a seat outside. We tried a Kaiserschmarrn bowl and it was delicious. They accommodate special requests. Aperol is always a good choice there too!

As always, the food was excellent. All the dishes were delicious. The chicken in the curry practically melted in your mouth. Consistent quality. Food was served quickly. We were there on a Monday. We'll definitely be back.

We only had drinks there; the staff was friendly. However, the restrooms aren't exactly award-winning. Cleanliness definitely leaves something to be desired.

Extremely overwhelmed (underwhelmed) and irritated staff, order forgotten, unfriendly to animals!! - no water bowl or anything similar could be found for the dog! Prices were unreasonably high. The restaurant otherwise has potential.

We went there after a theater performance. The location is great, with a fantastic view of the harbor. The waiter seemed overwhelmed that evening, as it was very busy. Therefore, it only gets 3 stars, because you have to be friendly even when it's full. And our food was mediocre; you can't really go wrong with fries and chicken nuggets. My child enjoyed it, but my tarte flambée was a disaster. Far too small and so incredibly dry, it was unacceptable.

The worst Piña Colada I've ever had! 99% ice, there was no room for anything else in the glass, and they must have just run out of rum...

Completely disappointed with the service! We were there today (three of us) to enjoy the buffet, and unfortunately, they told us we had to sit downstairs because upstairs (where the buffet was served) was completely full. Then, the waitress told us we should have made a reservation online, which is completely false because my husband called and they told him they didn't take reservations for the buffet. Everything was fine until we went upstairs to get some food, and I saw an empty table. I asked the waiter upstairs if we could take it, and he flatly refused because that table was reserved in case a group of five arrived. I noticed couples sitting at tables for four people, and I immediately told the waiter, and his response was: "Yeah, right… We couldn't sit at a table for five, but a couple could sit at a table for four." I didn't see the logic in it. After half an hour, I saw that four tables upstairs had become available, and they never said anything to us. Otherwise, the food was delicious, and the drinks were too.

Hey, Our short visit to Alex was a complete success. The food was delicious, and the price-performance ratio was mostly good. A great place to get ready for the evening. Next time, please serve the beer cold (luckily, we each only had one). Also, our table was right in front of the bar, which meant it took quite a while to be served. We arrived here on Sunday evening at 10:30 pm, frozen and hungry, and received a very warm welcome. There was still hot food available despite the late hour. Delicious food, and a very friendly young woman served us! Thank you!

A very nice, cozy café/restaurant with a beautiful view. I had a smoothie, salmon on rösti, and a cappuccino. Everything was delicious. The service was friendly and attentive. I was completely satisfied! Best regards to the team

Our family has been to this ALEX restaurant several times. Great location!! Excellent service!! The food was also excellent!!! We will definitely stop by again on our next trip to Hamburg.

The cake was delicious and the service was very good.

Really bad. They say reservations aren't possible except for Sunday breakfast, and you should just come up. So we show up on Sunday, and there's no one at the entrance, no note, nothing. Then a waiter tells us we'll get a table as soon as one becomes available, so everything went as planned. After 20 minutes, someone suddenly comes and says we have to get in line. When we get downstairs, there are at least 25 people in line, so we go somewhere else to eat. It's absolutely outrageous that there are apparently no arrangements among the staff.

Great view at the top, food was okay, but too expensive. Waiters were extremely unfriendly and bad-tempered.

I ate dinner there three times in four days because I was so impressed by the food after the first. The bowls are truly delicious. Twice it was quite crowded, and I had to wait for a seat, but I managed to get nice seats even as a single person. The service was very friendly despite the rush. Special thanks go to Tuǧba, who filled my last Hamburg evening with such kindness despite the packed house. We were there the day before yesterday. The place looked inviting from the outside. But the schnitzel was only lukewarm. The Pina Colada was relatively expensive at over €10, and the glass was half-filled with ice. That's cheating in my book. When we asked the staff, they told us we always make them that way. So, it was intentional. Let everyone form their own opinion. I won't go there again.

Super delicious food, and if you sit upstairs you have a beautiful view of the harbor. The service is very friendly. Unfortunately, the constant overcrowding is a bit annoying. Highly recommended!

I gotta say, SO GOOD of service! Especially comparing to the experience in the Jungfernstieg one. The homemade lemonades are good in addition to the food! So I highly recommend if you want a chill place with a very good view and good service!! No idea what the name of the guy was working on the top floor, but his service was really good and treated us so friendly so thank him!

I ordered a 300g ribeye steak medium or medium rare. I obviously got a rump steak which was unfortunately very well instead of medium. A real shame as I was looking forward to such a good piece of meat. However, since our group had already waited over an hour for our food and I was so hungry, I decided not to return it. I complained to the waiter, but he responded with a shrug. When I came to the cashier, a different server came and gave me a few euros off my bill. But I still paid €40 for the steak and a beer. Of course you also pay for the location, but I expect a chef to prepare such a good piece of meat properly.

Very nice view over the harbor, and due to its central location, it's always busy, which also affects the ambiance. The food was delicious.

Beautiful restaurant with a large outdoor terrace and a wonderful view

Very bad service, it took ages before we were even served. The waiters were very unfriendly. After the abysmal service we didn't want to leave a tip, but then we managed to give 2 euros, but the waiter was too stupid to accept it and gave it back to us. Really bad. The food sat on the counter for ages, nobody took it out, we walked past it 10 times, and finally, of course, it wasn't warm anymore. There was no manager to be seen there. It was pure daytime tourism, if you don't come, someone else will. Extremely awful.

We've been here several times when we're in Hamburg (600km away). Very friendly staff! Delicious food and good drinks. My son really likes the Kiba juice! Great view of the harbor. We always enjoy coming back...

So, the Alex is in a great location. That's fantastic. Since we were there on a Saturday, it's obvious that it's a bit hectic and everything takes a bit longer - that's not my point. But what really bothers me is that as a vegan, you're basically left high and dry. The buffet doesn't have anything special to offer other than margarine, a bit of cucumber, and a bit of tomato. There are so many things you could offer these days, and I'm sure it would be very popular. There isn't even oat milk with the muesli, and there was no fresh fruit - you have to pay 60!!! cents extra for oat milk. It's really unacceptable to have such a poor selection at the buffet. A vegan section with spreads, cold cuts, etc. should be mandatory these days. So you won't see me again.

We stopped in here spontaneously for our musical. We only had to wait a short while for a table to become available and were served immediately. The food and drinks were very good. We also liked the location and the view.

When the food arrives, it's very good. Unfortunately, we had to wait a very long time for two meals, out of four. The server was quick, and the service was good. The view of the water is also very good.

We went there today for a snack and a coffee. It was such a lovely place to sit in the bright sunshine. The service was unfortunately completely overwhelmed, with too few staff. As a result, we had to wait a long time and repeatedly call for our attention. Unfortunately, we were served in a somewhat irritated manner. On the one hand, that's understandable given the stress, but on the other hand, customers shouldn't have to experience that kind of reaction. Four people's orders came one at a time within almost twenty minutes...that's completely unacceptable. The coffee and latte were only lukewarm. Hot chocolate at four! On a weekday! In bright sunshine. Sold out?!? Really!?! The cream on the drinks had already melted by the time it arrived at the table. Service was limited to people gesticulating wildly and throwing themselves in the way of the waiters. I'd say the price was average for the location. The women's restrooms were dirty, with a broken toilet paper dispenser, paper on the floor...you should be checked every hour when it's so busy. It was very unpleasant. Otherwise, it was a nice place to sit. And if you have time and patience to wait...maybe just don't order anything you'd like hot ;-)

We were there today, it was packed, they forgot to bring us the children's menu, and the herb butter on the pizza rolls was rock hard and impossible to spread. Unfortunately, today was not a good day.

Breakfast buffet: Unfortunately disappointing. The prices are very high, but there are hardly any vegan options (only a la carte from 12 p.m.), and dogs are allowed but not really welcome. The orange juice came from a carton; at those prices, I would have expected at least something fresh. The toilets were partially clogged and dirty.

Best bowl -> Chicken Karaage. Super delicious, I highly recommend it! Crispy chicken pieces, yet juicy and tender, a great dish and very tasty, with edamame, Japanese sushi rice, cashew nuts, carrot-parsnip-ginger chips, beetroot pieces, fresh mint, cucumber, avocado, toasted sesame seeds, fresh lamb's lettuce, fruity apple-chilli chutney, and coriander sauce. The service is very attentive, even if it can take a little longer. You get a friendly smile and they make you feel like a guest.

If you order a breakfast buffet, there isn't even a hot drink included. You have to pay for it separately. - The service was lackluster and not at all courteous.

If you're already charging €6.20 for a 0.5 liter of Fanta, you don't need to add a ton of ice. Mediocre food, frozen schnitzel that was fried too long and shriveled up. There's definitely room for improvement.

I would have liked to give 5 stars, but the service leaves a lot to be desired and urgently needs training. 8 employees were standing around at the counter, chatting privately and completely inattentive. The wait until a friendly server joined me was almost 6 minutes. Even making eye contact with a gentleman at the counter did not shorten it. After ordering my drinks and food, it took a relatively long time for the drink to arrive. The food arrived within a reasonable time. During the meal, no one asked if everything was OK. The food and drinks (soda) were delicious. I would have liked to have ordered something else. I had to actively speak to a member of staff about the bill. It's a real shame that the service is so bad considering the location and the food/drinks.

At the end of June, we spontaneously arrived with over 30 people looking for a place to eat – after several rejections, we luckily landed at Alex. The team did absolutely everything possible to accommodate us. Despite the sudden rush, the staff was extremely friendly, attentive, and efficient. The drinks and food arrived promptly and were of top quality. Add to that the wonderful ambiance with a view of the harbor – simply perfect. Kudos to the entire team: This is how service and good food work!

Great location! But the service was very unfriendly! They reacted rudely to our request for a larger table for three people (instead of a two-seater) and then ignored us when we moved ourselves, instead of offering to clear it and cleaning it! As someone who has worked in service for a long time, this is completely unacceptable! Sorry, especially not in the middle of Hamburg at such a great place!

Very friendly staff. We had pan-fried fish and fish and sweet potato fries there. It was very attractively presented and delicious. We sat upstairs, overlooking the jetties.

I'm not really someone who likes to leave negative reviews... But unfortunately, the quality of the food here really disappointed me 😔 There were two of us, and we both ordered a burger with a side of fries... The burgers looked really good, there's no other way to describe them...but unfortunately, they were frozen pre-made patties...at a price of over €17, and they advertised great beef...I was shocked. My husband's burger tasted like fish (one pan for everything?) and the fries were so-so at over €5 a portion.... We spent over €50 here with drinks.... Unfortunately, when we asked if they were pre-made patties, the answer was: "That could be it." 🙆 The service was very, very nice; perhaps in such cases (we seem to be not the only ones), they should offer some kind of alternative or discount.... Visiting Hamburg has always been a dearest wish of mine... The Alex was recommended to us, but unfortunately, we were a little disappointed and wouldn't recommend it to anyone.... With all due respect, it was truly the worst burger I, that we, have ever eaten....

Beautiful location, delicious coffee – only the surcharge for oat milk instead of cow's milk is an unnecessary markup. It's a shame when the milk foam is more environmentally friendly than the pricing policy.

I ate here with friends and I'm extremely disappointed. My food arrived 50 minutes late, and it wasn't even what I ordered. On top of that, I got an alcoholic drink even though I asked for non-alcoholic drinks. I got an alcoholic drink twice even though they knew I wore a headscarf and didn't drink it for religious reasons. On top of that, I explained to them that I was breastfeeding... it was really frustrating.

I've only been here once and won't be back. The food wasn't great and there weren't enough staff.

Breakfast was okay (just so-so value for money). The location was fantastic. Service? Absolutely terrible! I asked at breakfast if I could have apple juice instead of orange juice due to an allergy. The answer: "No, but you can pay €4. I'll bring you the orange juice anyway, just leave it if you don't want it." I was a bit shocked and can't understand how anyone could call that "service"?! Additionally, the plates were piled high at our table, and the plates at the buffet were almost all dirty. One waiter for the entire floor was probably not productive...

The food itself was very tasty. We just found the price a bit too high. The burger didn't come with any sides, so fries and the mini side salad had to be ordered separately. The fries, for example, cost almost €6 extra. The salmon and spinach lasagna was delicious, but a bit small for the price. If you're looking for a quiet restaurant, you'd better look elsewhere. Overall, it felt rather hectic. Since you can only make reservations for the morning, you'll just have to try and get a table during the day on the spur of the moment.

At Alex, you can always enjoy good food, along with a magnificent view of the Hamburg evening.

I ate there with my family today and I'm shocked. I thought it was going to be amazing, especially after we received such a warm welcome and were given really good seats with a beautiful view. But then came the disappointment: 1. The food came quickly, but we had to wait forever for someone to even come and take our order. Paying also took way too long. 2. The drinks didn't look appetizing, especially the Lillet and the iced tea. 3. The fruit was old, and so was the cream on top, which completely took away our appetite. Conclusion: The Alex on Jungfernstieg is a thousand times better.

ALEX Überseebrücken won me over. Best location, very good food. Better than any ALEX I've ever been to. One flaw: "Do you have any wishes, my dears?" I found it rude. Otherwise, excellent.

Both the terrace and the dining room upstairs offer magnificent views. We didn't have to wait long to get a table for two (upstairs), nor did we have to wait long for our order to be taken. The food and drinks arrived at our tables super quickly. The staff are remarkably polite, competent, and really on the ball.

We were here on Cruise Days and again the following week. Due to the weather, we had to go inside, so we went upstairs. Cool view of the harbor and the ships. It's always a pleasure to be here. The food was also very good, although not exactly mid-range. But everything was just right.

The Alex at the Überseebrücke offers fantastic views over Hamburg's harbor. The breakfast is varied and balanced. Sometimes you have to wait a bit for the buffet to be refilled, but it's worth it.

I think the service seemed a bit stressed due to the cruise days, but otherwise very friendly. The food was delicious and the portions were perfectly adequate.

I was there for breakfast today and was very satisfied! The view of the harbor is superb, the food was excellent, the staff very friendly, and the service was great.

We were there at lunchtime and actually just wanted a coffee. I was able to take a quick look at the buffet, but I would have liked to eat anyway. Unfortunately, I ran out of time for that, but I was impressed by the cleanliness of the clearing. Everyone was wearing gloves, etc. The service was friendly and attentive. We opted for a cake that I don't think was homemade. The chocolate cake was delicious, the red velvet cake was a bit dry. The matcha was a bit bland. We'd still love to come back and try the buffet.
