Very nice restaurant, good food, friendly service and excellent view of the harbor.

Unfortunately, our visit wasn't very satisfying. The food was generally tasty, but the mushroom schnitzel arrived with thick sauce and skin still on, looked very unappetizing, and there were at most five mushrooms on the plate. This is typical of Alex locations; they're usually better at other locations. The location is great, but unfortunately, it was quite cold inside. The service could definitely be friendlier and more attentive.

We wanted to use the toilets. The public toilets were closed. We were willing to pay for them and for drinks, and those bastards threw me out. That's outrageous.

After typical Hamburg weather, we found refuge in Café Alex – and luckily got a table right away. We had coffee, chocolate cake, apple pie, fries, and a hot lemon drink. Everything was fresh, delicious, and just what we needed to warm up. The cakes, in particular, were really good and beautifully presented. The service was friendly and relaxed, despite the busy location near the Landungsbrücken piers. A perfect spot for a relaxing break with a view of the water – we'll definitely be back. ☕🍰

Upon arrival, you're given only 1.5 hours for food and drinks, but you have to call for the waiters several times just to get a chance to place your order. However, it's questionable how the order could possibly be worth the price: Initially, the vegan burger seemed completely dry (the promised hummus was definitely missing), but later I discovered that the non-existent hummus appeared to have been replaced by copious amounts of coriander leaves. The arugula was also missing, but instead, I was treated to an unexpected "flavor explosion": several pieces of chili were embedded in one part of the burger. After 80 minutes, before the allotted time had even elapsed, we were rather rudely asked to leave. The reason given: "Our table is reserved." Oddly enough, reservations aren't possible at this restaurant, except during breakfast hours. Unfriendly staff and haphazardly assembled food seem to be the norm here.

That's how restaurants should be run; then they'll also be successful with guests.

The food was cold, unappetizing, and bland. The view of the harbor is fantastic, and the staff is attentive. The cocktails are just as mediocre as the food.

Couples can get a table very quickly. Larger groups wait for hours outside. Reservations are not possible.

Brunch was delicious, food was well replenished, drinks were ordered quickly, it was quite loud and hectic due to the large room. Price/performance ratio for Sunday brunch was totally okay.

We went there for breakfast and got a table for two without a reservation. However, I recommend booking in advance. The staff and the restaurant were great. The breakfast selection is smaller overall than at other Alex restaurants (Munich, Berlin, Osnabrück). I didn't take any photos to respect the privacy of other customers.

I personally find the toilet situation to be a drawback. The shared washroom is located in the doorway. And it's on the ground floor. And unfortunately, it's not very clean or well-maintained.

Breakfast buffet in the morning. A very large and, above all, delicious selection; something for everyone. A minor drawback was the lack of fish (e.g., salmon), which we found a bit disappointing. Nevertheless, out of our two days in Hamburg, staying in the St. Pauli district, we ate breakfast at the Alex buffet twice. The view is, of course, wonderful—speaking, naturally, as a Bavarian tourist.

At Alex by the Überseebrücke, where the Elbe sparkles like freshly polished sneakers, we were welcomed today like old regulars, only without the awkward small talk. The service? Friendly, attentive, no stress, no waiting, no "I'll be right back" followed by disappearing. Everything ran like clockwork. Then came the star of the day: my Hamburg-style pan-fried cod. Cod so tender it would have been almost offended if you'd handled it too roughly with a fork. The fried potatoes were incredibly flavorful; just a touch more crispiness would have given them that final spark. And the sauce? Bro, that wasn't a sauce, that was a declaration of love. Perfectly timed like a Swiss watch with a Frisian wit. To go with it, a carbonara, creamy as a whispered "Treat yourself," and a red Thai curry that briefly simulated a vacation in Bangkok, without jet lag or airport chaos. Everything was perfectly seasoned, piping hot, and fresh—everything exactly as you'd want it, but rarely get. Price-wise? Typical Hamburg fare, but fair. You left without the feeling that the waiter had just snooped on you. Bottom line: five out of five stars. Food was top-notch, service was top-notch, and the atmosphere was top-notch. Snack Sinatra approved.

It was a while ago, but after we were shown to our table, no one came to take our order. After more than half an hour, we left the restaurant and went somewhere else to eat.

We come here at least once on every trip to Hamburg, and it's always great. In the summer, you can sit right on the promenade and enjoy delicious cocktails; in the winter, it's cozy inside, and there's a beautiful view of the harbor from upstairs. The service staff has always been friendly and attentive. The food is always delicious.

Beautiful location by the sea, prices a bit higher due to the location (definitely a tourist spot), food was very good. But the service was absolutely unacceptable. We wanted the appetizer first, then the main course. The waiter said he would have to order it separately. First the appetizer, then the main course a few minutes later. We confirmed that he should do that. We did receive the appetizer. When the main course still hadn't arrived an hour later, we asked about it. He had forgotten. Then, with dessert, there was utter chaos. One order was wrong, another was forgotten. All very tedious. The next day, during a quick coffee stop (the location really is great), the same waiter came again, and it was chaos again… sorry, but at these prices, that's unacceptable. And one more thing – the restrooms are absolutely disgusting, and there was no toilet paper on one or two days… a shame, with a little effort it could be so much better.

After waiting 20 minutes for my lentil soup order, I cancelled it and left – I had to painstakingly convince the staff that I was no longer taking the soup and wouldn't be paying for it… unpleasant.

As a Hamburg local, I've long known that the ALEX restaurant is only for tourists or someone who just wants a coffee. The food is average, neither good nor bad. I had Kaiserschmarren (shredded pancake), which was dry and tasteless. When I asked the staff about it, they couldn't confirm my suspicion that the dish came from an external supplier. The view is fantastic, of course, but I wouldn't go there specifically for a meal. I would only recommend it with reservations.

We visited you for the first time in the evening – we were only there for a drink – but the food looked so good that we simply couldn't resist and ordered more. The next day, we came back for brunch. Both visits were completely spontaneous and without a reservation, and it worked out perfectly each time. For breakfast, we sat by the window at the tables that had been pushed together. Brunch is served upstairs, but that's no problem at all – you have your own table downstairs and can easily help yourself to the buffet. When we arrived downstairs, the friendly server was already at our table and politely asked us to separate the tables again, as it was quite busy. Once they were separated, it was a bit cramped at our small table – with two drinks and two plates, space was tight. It was a little inconvenient, but absolutely no big deal. All in all, we were very satisfied – with the drinks and food, as well as the pleasant atmosphere and the exceptionally friendly service. We'll definitely be back!

Located right by the Landungsbrücken piers, with a view of the Stage Theatres. The service is friendly and attentive. You have to be careful what you order, but everything is delicious.

A lovely buffet, including vegetarian options. Those in the know will understand what to order. I'm a beginner myself. I had to pay extra for an additional cup of coffee, even though I had a voucher for the breakfast buffet. Visitors with disabilities should be aware that stairs are required to access the restrooms on the lower levels.

I went to Alex alone on a Sunday (yes, it's perfectly normal to go to a restaurant/bar alone) and got a great window seat with a beautiful view. The service was excellent – ​​quick and very friendly. The food arrived quickly after ordering and was delicious.

However, in my opinion, the portions are rather small for the price. The service was just about alright at first, nothing more and nothing less. Rather, it was a bit curt. When we didn't leave a tip when paying, the waitress turned around without saying goodbye. Even after we said goodbye, there was no response. Very unprofessional. A shame.

It's a real shame no one's answering the phone. I tried 12 times throughout the day. But if they don't want to answer, that's their loss. We'll just eat somewhere else then.

We were a group of five and arrived at the restaurant around noon. Since it was very busy, we waited patiently in the waiting area. Several groups arrived after us: one with eight people, one with four, and many couples. After waiting for over half an hour, the later-arriving groups were suddenly seated one after the other. First, the group of eight (split into six and two people) was seated immediately, then even the group of four, who were far behind us, was given a table for five. Numerous couples who arrived after us were also all served before us. When we spoke to the staff member in charge, she simply waved us off and said that she was "not responsible for seating this group." After waiting for more than 30 minutes, and after dozens of guests who arrived after us had already been seated, we still hadn't been given a table – so we decided to leave the restaurant. We will definitely not be returning. When a restaurant doesn't adhere to the basic principle of "first come, first served" or ignores the legitimate concerns of its guests, it's simply disrespectful. Our guests were very disappointed – for us, it was an extremely bad experience.

⭐⭐️☆☆☆ Disappointing – “Currywurst Deluxe” is not a deluxe experience I went to ALEX Hamburg Überseebrücke and ordered the “Currywurst Deluxe” for a hefty €15.80. My expectations were high! Unfortunately, the dish was a huge disappointment: a tiny portion (6 small pieces of sausage), no curry sauce!, just a hint of mayonnaise, hardly any onions (half an onion strip) or herbs (I hope ALEX isn't referring to the greens on the fries; if so, no comment). Instead, the sausage was topped with a few fried onions and a visually and gustatorily questionable onion ring as decoration. The “mild chilies” turned out to be powder on the fries. The whole thing arrived lukewarm. I spoke to the server about it, but only received a polite apology – no attempt at compensation or a solution. For almost €16, I simply expect more than a few lukewarm pieces of sausage without sauce and a side dish. Even the visually inviting seating quickly proved to be very uncomfortable, which further marred the overall experience. In short: Overpriced, uninspired, and far from "deluxe" in terms of taste – unfortunately, I can't recommend it. BUT the service is extremely friendly and attentive, and the dessert is truly top-notch! ♡

In my opinion, it's a tourist trap. The price-performance ratio is completely off, the food was cold, and we had to wait forever. The only positive thing is the location at the harbor, unfortunately.

Where do we even begin? The staff was overwhelmed and didn't understand what we wanted. The seating on the ground floor was unfortunately quite uncomfortable for people over 1.80m tall. The large glass front made you feel like you were being grilled. The portions could definitely be improved in terms of both quantity and presentation. Conclusion: Unfortunately, it's nothing like the old Alster Pavilion, where everything was a hundred times better and more pleasant 🤧😪.......

Alex at the Landungsbrücken piers offers the same excellent selection of food and drinks as other restaurants in the chain. From the upper floor or the tables at the front downstairs, you have a lovely view of the harbor. However, getting a good seat usually requires a bit of luck. When it's busy, you might have to wait a while for the (admittedly excellent) service.

Perfect location for a restaurant. On sunny days, you need luck to get a seat outside. We tried a Kaiserschmarrn bowl and it was delicious. They accommodate special requests. Aperol is always a good choice there too!

We went there after a theater performance. The location is great, with a fantastic view of the harbor. The waiter seemed overwhelmed that evening, as it was very busy. Therefore, it only gets 3 stars, because you have to be friendly even when it's full. And our food was mediocre; you can't really go wrong with fries and chicken nuggets. My child enjoyed it, but my tarte flambée was a disaster. Far too small and so incredibly dry, it was unacceptable.

Completely disappointed with the service! We were there today (three of us) to enjoy the buffet, and unfortunately, they told us we had to sit downstairs because upstairs (where the buffet was served) was completely full. Then, the waitress told us we should have made a reservation online, which is completely false because my husband called and they told him they didn't take reservations for the buffet. Everything was fine until we went upstairs to get some food, and I saw an empty table. I asked the waiter upstairs if we could take it, and he flatly refused because that table was reserved in case a group of five arrived. I noticed couples sitting at tables for four people, and I immediately told the waiter, and his response was: "Yeah, right… We couldn't sit at a table for five, but a couple could sit at a table for four." I didn't see the logic in it. After half an hour, I saw that four tables upstairs had become available, and they never said anything to us. Otherwise, the food was delicious, and the drinks were too.

Really bad. They say reservations aren't possible except for Sunday breakfast, and you should just come up. So we show up on Sunday, and there's no one at the entrance, no note, nothing. Then a waiter tells us we'll get a table as soon as one becomes available, so everything went as planned. After 20 minutes, someone suddenly comes and says we have to get in line. When we get downstairs, there are at least 25 people in line, so we go somewhere else to eat. It's absolutely outrageous that there are apparently no arrangements among the staff.

I gotta say, SO GOOD of service! Especially comparing to the experience in the Jungfernstieg one. The homemade lemonades are good in addition to the food! So I highly recommend if you want a chill place with a very good view and good service!! No idea what the name of the guy was working on the top floor, but his service was really good and treated us so friendly so thank him!

I ordered a 300g ribeye steak medium or medium rare. I obviously got a rump steak which was unfortunately very well instead of medium. A real shame as I was looking forward to such a good piece of meat. However, since our group had already waited over an hour for our food and I was so hungry, I decided not to return it. I complained to the waiter, but he responded with a shrug. When I came to the cashier, a different server came and gave me a few euros off my bill. But I still paid €40 for the steak and a beer. Of course you also pay for the location, but I expect a chef to prepare such a good piece of meat properly.
