ALEX Hamburg Überseebrücke in Hamburg

The two of us spontaneously stopped in for coffee/chocolate and a slice of cake. The food and drinks selection is varied, and there are also vegetarian and vegan options. It was very windy that day, and the outdoor seating didn't seem to offer much wind protection. We were unfortunately disappointed because we waited quite a long time for service and our order. Additionally, when paying, several other people were served first, and it took at least five minutes for the waiter to come over. The restrooms were very dirty, and disposable towels weren't regularly refilled. When we mentioned this, we were told it was busy. The view was great; we had to keep holding the menu or putting something on it because of the strong wind. We've both eaten and drunk at another ALEX restaurant and were more satisfied. I will definitely go back to the ALEX restaurant.

We were there for lunch on July 4, 2025. A wonderful atmosphere upstairs with a view of the harbor. The food was really great, but unfortunately we had to wait 45 minutes for our food.

A very nice restaurant right on the harbor. Lovely atmosphere and friendly staff. Unfortunately, the value for money isn't always right anymore. At Pannfisch, you only get a ridiculously small piece of fish. Instead, you get a lot of fried potatoes.

Fast, friendly, and incredibly delicious. Prompt service two days in a row, and every dish was incredibly delicious. Compliments to the kitchen. The prices are totally reasonable for this location. I'd go back anytime.

The view from the second floor is great. The toilet is free, which is five stars. The service staff are very friendly and the food is very delicious.

Unfortunately, the fried fish in tempura batter wasn't good. The fish was too dry: It tasted as if the fish pieces had been dipped in batter and deep-fried repeatedly, and the fries were too dark. The service was accommodating. They made me a second portion. If you want fish, you're better off going to a fish restaurant. The burgers, fries, and cocktails, on the other hand, were very tasty. The restrooms were clean.

Here, only the location matters. The service and prices are exorbitant. Since I didn't tip, I just got a grumpy look. Terrible.

There were two of us there, and the experience was very sobering. The one star is for the location and the view you get from the restaurant. The food there was very disappointing. The pictures on the menu unfortunately don't reflect reality. The disappointment was immense, because it looks unappetizing and simply doesn't do the picture on the menu justice. I'm aware that pictures on menus are always deliberately made to look more beautiful. However, a cone was missing, and the ice cream had apparently been sitting in the kitchen for too long, which was then covered up with sauce. It simply looked like mush. I pointed out to the waitress that unfortunately a cone was missing, or rather, it didn't quite match the picture. Her response was very disappointing, as she became very rude and unfriendly. My friend's food didn't arrive until 15 minutes later and, unfortunately, didn't look any better. I don't recommend this place.

The location is very nice. If you like mainstream fare without a local connection, you'll enjoy it...! Although the small snack (flame chips with dips) we ordered wasn't particularly good. The chips weren't evenly fried and some were still soggy...!

Definitely recommended! The ambiance and service are particularly good. It's nice and quiet, and with a view of the Elbe, there's a lovely atmosphere. The food is also very tasty, although I can only comment on the dishes we ordered.

Service ranged from very friendly to very unfriendly. The food tasted okay, but the portions were too small for the price. Once, they overcharged me, but after asking, it was returned. It can happen, but it's still not good.

2 out of 5 stars – Disappointing service, okay food After our visit to the Lion King musical, we wanted to end the evening comfortably at ALEX on the Überseebrücke. It was storming heavily, so we stayed indoors – unfortunately, that was the beginning of a very disappointing experience. It took over 15 minutes for anyone from the service department to even come to us. The waiters seemed unmotivated and listless – some of them looked as if they were about to fall asleep while walking. They were even visibly arguing among themselves, which further exacerbated the unpleasant feeling. We had to clearly indicate that we wanted to be served – only then did someone arrive. The drinks again took forever. The food was okay, but by no means outstanding – and far too expensive. Conclusion: The ambiance is actually nice, but the service and value for money are disappointing across the board. Not really recommended. 👎

Good food, good service, and good ambiance. The restrooms were a disaster. All the men's and women's restrooms were filthy from top to bottom. They were full of shit or had huge puddles of urine next to them. Both my wife and I avoided them and went to the next restaurant after our visit. Upstairs at the Alex, they take cash, while downstairs, no one cares about the guests.

My spontaneous visit to you yesterday was a disaster. Even though high customer volume is always a reason for me to take things in perspective, I was disappointed. It started with a communication problem with the order. We waited 23 minutes for our order to be taken. My heavily pregnant wife ordered a malt beer and received a wheat beer. Our companion's meal arrived lukewarm. An order was forgotten, which is why one person couldn't eat until 35 minutes later. When a €1.10 tip was added to my bill at the end without my consent (which I only saw later), it made the visit even more disappointing. We won't be going back here again.

We were there on Sunday after the musical "The Lion King." Unfortunately, the weather wasn't great – if the sun had been shining, the terrace overlooking the harbor would have been perfect. The atmosphere was overall quite nice, but the service was disappointing. We had to wait a very long time before we were even served. The waiters seemed overwhelmed or simply disinterested – there was no trace of friendliness. Our drink order came after about 15 minutes, which is definitely too long. The food was okay, but not outstanding. Overall: Nice location, but the service was really poor. If you value friendly and prompt service, this is probably the wrong place for you. 2 out of 5 stars – plenty of room for improvement.

We waited 30 minutes until we could order when asked, the food was cold (I had ordered 3 currywurst and fries but only 2 came), so the first people had finished eating and then the 3rd portion came, there were enough staff but they always stood in a group in the entrance area instead of looking after the guests, the staff simply added tips on without asking us to (unfortunately saw it too late!), it's not okay!!!!!

We went there for a bite to eat and a drink today on our Hamburg tour. The service was completely overwhelmed with six people. The fries were only lukewarm, making them completely inedible. Some of us didn't get our food until after the others had practically finished their cold meals. Not recommended for the price. And then the amount: the tip was simply added to the bill without any prior agreement. Not recommended!!

I was there in the morning. Typical ALEX breakfast. Everything you could want was there. The location, however, makes the difference. Beautiful view of the harbor, the landing stage, and the Elphi. Who has that? It's better to reserve days in advance. No problem for early risers; it gets crowded after 10:00.

We had a burger and, for a light snack, breaded chicken and cauliflower pieces. Both were delicious. We paired them with a fruity Duckstein, and it was perfect. The service was fast, attentive, and friendly. 26.6.25

I had a delicious bowl here! The service, food, and drinks are highly recommended! Alex is just a few minutes from the Pier! It's a great place to break up your day and take a break.

We visited here twice during our visit to Hamburg. Both times, we were able to snag a table outside in beautiful weather. The service (both times very friendly and attentive) was absolutely fantastic. The food was a bit overpriced, but delicious. We'd love to come back!

Prices too high Service takes a long time, and you're not noticed for a long time. They also served a dirty glass with lipstick on it (unfortunately, I only noticed it after I'd finished drinking it – very disgusting). Unfortunately, there wasn't even a verbal apology for this. The lasagna itself was unfortunately swimming in a sauce that was far too thin. At least they apologized at the end after I gave my feedback.

We came here by chance and were very pleased. The restaurant has modern decor. The prices aren't overpriced, the food was delicious, and the service was very friendly and attentive. It does get quite noisy during peak times.

Absolutely terrible service. As long as you're not there as a "brother," you're let down by them. You're just sent to another service runner. While we were ordering, the waiter simply walked to another table and left, only returning after two minutes, even though we knew what we wanted to order. I haven't seen this kind of behavior in Hamburg for a long time.

We were only there briefly for a drink, and the drinks were delicious. The service was super friendly and everything went quickly, even though it was very busy.

Went to the breakfast buffet at Alex (with a reservation). Unfortunately you only pay for the view (top floor) and not for the buffet and the service. Three of us sat at a small, round table about 60cm high. Unfortunately it was too small for three of us. There was no cozy atmosphere (apart from the view). Unfortunately the selection was poor for what you paid for. There was cutlery and plates at the entrance that weren't really clean, we had to sort through several plates. The service: unfortunately not up to scratch. We had to stack the used dishes on the small table. It wasn't cleared away until the end. This review only refers to the breakfast buffet. We wouldn't go to the buffet again and can't recommend it. There are better options for the money. We found the ambience downstairs and outside very inviting the day before and the cocktails were delicious.

The food was excellent 😋, but when paying, the waiter threw the receipt on the table. 😡🤔🤐That was very rude. I hope the restaurant manager, Alex, takes action.

It's incomprehensible why you can't put two tables together outside for five people. On top of that, the waitress is rude. Ordering and drinking drinks directly at the counter isn't possible either, and I wonder why there are bar stools there. This waitress also gave me a rude reply, telling me to sit at a table. I hope that the lease for Alex at Landungsbrücken will expire soon, too, and that a Hamburg-based company will be awarded the contract, like the one at the Alster starting next year.

I don't know why, but the feeling of constant dissatisfaction among the employees is also reflected in the service. The food and drink are okay, but it's often a matter of luck as to what condition they end up in. The organization is very poor, demanding a certain degree of independence from guests. The criticism isn't directed at the service staff, but at the organizational structure above them. This establishment thrives primarily on its location and the view of the Port of Hamburg.

Cool location. Insider tip: The first floor has a great view of the harbor. We just stopped in for a drink. The cocktails were good and – considering the location – reasonably priced. Service was friendly and fast.

Man, that was amazing. Just after 7, the sun was setting. Just managed to get a seat. Friendly service. The price was OK, too. With the view. Whether it was the new Philharmonic Hall or the Freimaster with its harbor panorama. We'll be back...❤️❤️

Went here for breakfast during the week – super underrated and an absolute insider tip ☺️ The buffet was plentiful and beautifully presented. The dishes were all fresh, and the bread, especially delicious and warm. The view of the harbor was equally breathtaking. The staff was also very friendly and attentive. We'll be back!☺️

Tolle Bar mit angenehmen Flair und super tollem Blick über den Hamburger Hafen. Von der Elbphilharmonie zur Musicalinsel bis zu den Landungsbrücken im 1. Stock alles im Überblick! Getränke sind etwas teurer, schmecken dafür sehr sehr gut!

If you are on vacation, you can take 5 minutes of your time and have the opportunity to eat and drink well here!

Luxury currywurst recommended 😋😋

It was our first wedding anniversary and we wanted to start the day with a drinks reception. We were very disappointed with the service from Alex, as we had to wait an hour to place our drink order. Despite repeated requests, no one came to our table. We were told someone would come to our table shortly. Other guests who arrived after us were all served before us, and I'm not talking one or two, but eight to ten new guests. It took an hour for our drinks to arrive, and after repeated requests, we were told we'd already been waiting for an hour. We won't be doing it again on our next trip to Hamburg.

Very friendly staff, fast and very good

I was actually very disappointed. After having a good experience at ALEX on Jungfernstieg, despite the restaurant being completely full in the middle of summer, we thought we'd have a bite to eat before the musical. Unfortunately, the waiter seemed unfriendly and largely disinterested, and it took longer to get his attention than it took to prepare the food. The food was okay; we had burgers, but it wasn't something I'd order again for that price. The only highlights for me were the view of the water and the chocolate cake! What I found particularly negative was that things were simply removed from the table without a word or any question. First, the remaining chair, where no one even asked if we were expecting someone else, and then a member of staff reached across the table, just barely over my food, to take a tealight candle from the table. Less than a centimeter lower, and I would have had her arm in my food. Overall, this was a visit we wouldn't want to repeat.

The view was unbeatable, but... The burger had more sauce than anything else, the bacon was rock hard, and the fries were cold! Bruschetta was the worst thing I've ever eaten (the bread wasn't cooked through, a few tomatoes, a few arugula leaves) for the price :( And then we wanted a cocktail, so the waiter suggested a different one (no big deal). But when I told him I didn't like it, he made light of it, didn't replace it, and of course, we ended up paying for it! Never again! Very disappointed.

The food is a bit more expensive, given the location, but it's still very tasty. I highly recommend the Solero milkshake :) The dumplings were in a very oily sauce, but the Asian burger was also very good. We were there on a Saturday evening and got a table straight away. The service was friendly, but we sat for half an hour before someone came to order.

We ordered burgers, which arrived cold at our table. After immediately complaining, the really friendly waitress took the burgers back. A few minutes later, new ones arrived – these were lukewarm, at least. The taste, however, was a disaster: the worst burgers I've ever eaten. Completely unloving and lacking in refinement. The ambiance of the restaurant is really nice, but unfortunately, the value for money is all the more disappointing – simply outrageous for what you get.

We weren't allowed to sit outside with five people while other tables were arranged for five other people. We weren't even taken seriously as customers. There was no reasonable explanation for this. Apparently, the public order office would issue tickets if five people sat at one table, which was the case with four tables pushed together.

We stopped by for a nightcap after seeing a musical. It was still busy at that time of day, but we had no trouble finding a table. The snack we had was delicious, and the Lillet was very drinkable.

We were refused service for flimsy reasons. Absolutely no-go! We were simply sent away, with the explanation that they couldn't serve five people. When we asked for an explanation, we received no explanation. Absolutely terrible.

We were told that five people weren't allowed to sit at the table outside, as it would supposedly cause trouble for the public order office. Five people were sitting at the table next to us. They were German, and we had black hair. I don't think it's good for the image of the restaurant to have so many black people sitting outside. We just didn't feel like arguing and would rather spend our money elsewhere!

Very good for breakfast. It's a pleasure to feast with a view of the promenade. Delicious breakfast buffet. I'd go back anytime.

This is the place where quite usual food as French fries is presented and served like something special, for 9 euro The food is tasty, however nothing out of this world. I do like the view from this restaurant and don’t like waiting in a queue ( as no option to reserve the table)

There are many delicious dishes, but unfortunately, the service is abysmal. First, we were ignored for 15 minutes despite making eye contact, and the table wasn't cleaned either. The same thing happened on our second visit. This time, they told me they couldn't eat outside due to the weather. When I tried to cancel my cold drink, it wasn't possible. However, they were suddenly able to get the food outside. The real shocker, however, was that not a minute later, a whole bunch of other guests were being served food outside! It was all very strange...

We got a seat outside so we could enjoy the sun and the harbor. The service was extremely friendly and cheerful, and you could tell that she and her colleagues are a well-coordinated team who enjoy their work. A nice selection of food and drinks, and the prices are reasonable for the location. The desserts we had were delicious and beautifully presented. It was almost a shame we weren't hungry... Addendum: We went back for dinner; it was beautifully presented and tasted very good. 👍

We were guests at ALEX for the harbor's anniversary. We managed to snag a table. Despite the busy schedule, the staff was very friendly and helpful. The coffee was delicious. The ice cream was delicious, and the portions were enormous.

We were glad that we were able to get something to eat here late Sunday evening after our visit to the musical; after all, it was already after 11 p.m. when we arrived. Despite the harbor birthday being the last day, the party mile was in a cleanup mood, and there was nothing left to eat, and the piers were literally being closed. We had a currywurst with extra-large fries, presented in a completely different way 👍🏻, and a wrap with fries, along with a good beer. The food was plentiful and delicious, and the prices were quite reasonable for the quality, by Hamburg standards, and, not least, for the location. We received good service, didn't have to sneak back to our hotel hungry, and even though the crew had already started cleaning up, we didn't feel pressured to finish our meal quickly. It was a pleasant end to an exciting day. 👍🏻

Dear Alex team! We've been coming to you several times a year for years, for Sunday brunch. The buffet is always top-notch. Once we were out of bread (I'm a bread eater), and the staff member reacted superbly. The staff member tried to get more bread. Well, the following week I was back and, as discussed, the bread too 🍞! We're always impressed by Alex and the team. We were with you again on May 18, 2025! We laughed so much with the waiter: Haris 😅 Thank you Haris for your lovely manner. My Hamburg vacation wouldn't be complete without a visit to Alex. Good food, friendly staff, and a beautiful view of the Elphi or the Landungsbrücken.

Unfortunately, the staff is very superficial. After being disrespected several times, we finally left. It wasn't crowded at the time, so we would have been understanding.

Nice atmosphere with a great location, the staff are absolutely unfriendly and seem to deliberately avoid you. If that doesn't bother you, you'll be in good hands here.

We drank coffee and ate brownie with ice cream. The atmosphere and food were nice, but the service was very slow and the employees were really rude.

HELLO, I highly recommend Alex. I felt comfortable, and not because Haris declared me the boss, but because he asked how we were and went out of his way to serve us. Limes are delicious. The food selection is plentiful, fresh, and delicious. We're already looking forward to our next visit.

I had a variety of drinks and two fries with truffle mayo. Everything was fine. The location is great for a stopover while strolling along the harbor.

No matter what city you're in, you can't go wrong with a visit to Alex. The usual selection, the usual friendly service. We'd be happy to go back!

The view from the upper floor is fantastic. All I can say about breakfast is that, apart from a fruit salad, there were absolutely zero vegan options at the buffet. Truly outdated for 2025.

You walk in and it stinks of food. Afterward, you're overwhelmed by the noise of these uncivilized people. You can barely hear yourself, so you can't have a conversation. Plus, you can't smell your own food, since you're practically sitting in Alex's kitchen. Not recommended.

The atmosphere is very nice, but the music is a bit too loud. That's no reason for us to stop eating there.
