Nice atmosphere, friendly staff. Second floor has a nice view of the port, every time we go around there we stop to relax and enjoy the view..

The food was delicious and came quickly, even though the place was packed inside and out. Great service, keep it up.

It was our first wedding anniversary and we wanted to start the day with a drinks reception. We were very disappointed with the service from Alex, as we had to wait an hour to place our drink order. Despite repeated requests, no one came to our table. We were told someone would come to our table shortly. Other guests who arrived after us were all served before us, and I'm not talking one or two, but eight to ten new guests. It took an hour for our drinks to arrive, and after repeated requests, we were told we'd already been waiting for an hour. We won't be doing it again on our next trip to Hamburg.

Very friendly staff, fast and very good

I was actually very disappointed. After having a good experience at ALEX on Jungfernstieg, despite the restaurant being completely full in the middle of summer, we thought we'd have a bite to eat before the musical. Unfortunately, the waiter seemed unfriendly and largely disinterested, and it took longer to get his attention than it took to prepare the food. The food was okay; we had burgers, but it wasn't something I'd order again for that price. The only highlights for me were the view of the water and the chocolate cake! What I found particularly negative was that things were simply removed from the table without a word or any question. First, the remaining chair, where no one even asked if we were expecting someone else, and then a member of staff reached across the table, just barely over my food, to take a tealight candle from the table. Less than a centimeter lower, and I would have had her arm in my food. Overall, this was a visit we wouldn't want to repeat.

The view was unbeatable, but... The burger had more sauce than anything else, the bacon was rock hard, and the fries were cold! Bruschetta was the worst thing I've ever eaten (the bread wasn't cooked through, a few tomatoes, a few arugula leaves) for the price :( And then we wanted a cocktail, so the waiter suggested a different one (no big deal). But when I told him I didn't like it, he made light of it, didn't replace it, and of course, we ended up paying for it! Never again! Very disappointed.

We ordered burgers, which arrived cold at our table. After immediately complaining, the really friendly waitress took the burgers back. A few minutes later, new ones arrived – these were lukewarm, at least. The taste, however, was a disaster: the worst burgers I've ever eaten. Completely unloving and lacking in refinement. The ambiance of the restaurant is really nice, but unfortunately, the value for money is all the more disappointing – simply outrageous for what you get.

The food is a bit more expensive, given the location, but it's still very tasty. I highly recommend the Solero milkshake :) The dumplings were in a very oily sauce, but the Asian burger was also very good. We were there on a Saturday evening and got a table straight away. The service was friendly, but we sat for half an hour before someone came to order.

We stopped by for a nightcap after seeing a musical. It was still busy at that time of day, but we had no trouble finding a table. The snack we had was delicious, and the Lillet was very drinkable.

We weren't allowed to sit outside with five people while other tables were arranged for five other people. We weren't even taken seriously as customers. There was no reasonable explanation for this. Apparently, the public order office would issue tickets if five people sat at one table, which was the case with four tables pushed together.

We were told that five people weren't allowed to sit at the table outside, as it would supposedly cause trouble for the public order office. Five people were sitting at the table next to us. They were German, and we had black hair. I don't think it's good for the image of the restaurant to have so many black people sitting outside. We just didn't feel like arguing and would rather spend our money elsewhere!

We were refused service for flimsy reasons. Absolutely no-go! We were simply sent away, with the explanation that they couldn't serve five people. When we asked for an explanation, we received no explanation. Absolutely terrible.

Very good for breakfast. It's a pleasure to feast with a view of the promenade. Delicious breakfast buffet. I'd go back anytime.

This is the place where quite usual food as French fries is presented and served like something special, for 9 euro The food is tasty, however nothing out of this world. I do like the view from this restaurant and don’t like waiting in a queue ( as no option to reserve the table)

There are many delicious dishes, but unfortunately, the service is abysmal. First, we were ignored for 15 minutes despite making eye contact, and the table wasn't cleaned either. The same thing happened on our second visit. This time, they told me they couldn't eat outside due to the weather. When I tried to cancel my cold drink, it wasn't possible. However, they were suddenly able to get the food outside. The real shocker, however, was that not a minute later, a whole bunch of other guests were being served food outside! It was all very strange...

We got a seat outside so we could enjoy the sun and the harbor. The service was extremely friendly and cheerful, and you could tell that she and her colleagues are a well-coordinated team who enjoy their work. A nice selection of food and drinks, and the prices are reasonable for the location. The desserts we had were delicious and beautifully presented. It was almost a shame we weren't hungry... Addendum: We went back for dinner; it was beautifully presented and tasted very good. 👍

We were guests at ALEX for the harbor's anniversary. We managed to snag a table. Despite the busy schedule, the staff was very friendly and helpful. The coffee was delicious. The ice cream was delicious, and the portions were enormous.

The service seemed very confused and incompetent.

We were glad that we were able to get something to eat here late Sunday evening after our visit to the musical; after all, it was already after 11 p.m. when we arrived. Despite the harbor birthday being the last day, the party mile was in a cleanup mood, and there was nothing left to eat, and the piers were literally being closed. We had a currywurst with extra-large fries, presented in a completely different way 👍🏻, and a wrap with fries, along with a good beer. The food was plentiful and delicious, and the prices were quite reasonable for the quality, by Hamburg standards, and, not least, for the location. We received good service, didn't have to sneak back to our hotel hungry, and even though the crew had already started cleaning up, we didn't feel pressured to finish our meal quickly. It was a pleasant end to an exciting day. 👍🏻

With a view of the harbor, the ambiance is almost irrelevant. The service was extremely friendly and flexible.

Dear Alex team! We've been coming to you several times a year for years, for Sunday brunch. The buffet is always top-notch. Once we were out of bread (I'm a bread eater), and the staff member reacted superbly. The staff member tried to get more bread. Well, the following week I was back and, as discussed, the bread too 🍞! We're always impressed by Alex and the team. We were with you again on May 18, 2025! We laughed so much with the waiter: Haris 😅 Thank you Haris for your lovely manner. We drank coffee and ate brownie with ice cream. The atmosphere and food were nice, but the service was very slow and the employees were really rude.

Unfortunately, the staff is very superficial. After being disrespected several times, we finally left. It wasn't crowded at the time, so we would have been understanding.

HELLO, I highly recommend Alex. I felt comfortable, and not because Haris declared me the boss, but because he asked how we were and went out of his way to serve us. Limes are delicious. The food selection is plentiful, fresh, and delicious. We're already looking forward to our next visit.

No matter what city you're in, you can't go wrong with a visit to Alex. The usual selection, the usual friendly service. We'd be happy to go back!

I had a variety of drinks and two fries with truffle mayo. Everything was fine. The location is great for a stopover while strolling along the harbor.

The view from the upper floor is fantastic. All I can say about breakfast is that, apart from a fruit salad, there were absolutely zero vegan options at the buffet. Truly outdated for 2025.

The atmosphere is very nice, but the music is a bit too loud. That's no reason for us to stop eating there.

You walk in and it stinks of food. Afterward, you're overwhelmed by the noise of these uncivilized people. You can barely hear yourself, so you can't have a conversation. Plus, you can't smell your own food, since you're practically sitting in Alex's kitchen. Not recommended.

Location, location, location! That's what you get and enjoy here. The breakfast buffet was averagely good. The hot drinks were only served as warm drinks. Clearing the used plates didn't work well at all.

Great location by the water, unfriendly staff

We (4 girls from Bavaria) were there on May 1st, 2025 and just had something to drink. It was a very nice stay and our waitress Hanna F. played a big part in it. With her friendly manner and always a relaxed saying on her lips, our stay was longer than expected and entertaining at the same time. We are in favor of Hanna getting a raise and then we would be happy to come back...

The fish we ordered was not cooked through at our express request and after being fried again. When it was subsequently fried, the fish was fried nicely brown on one side. On the other he was just as pale as before. The brown side was of course served. The shift manager rejected the complaint. Service unfortunately not very attentive. The shop is buzzing. The individual opinion / individual disappointed customer doesn't matter at all. We won't be coming back. Not to any other branch either.

Great view. In order to get something to eat or drink here, you have to remind the waiters forever. The same applies if you want to pay. Maximum test of patience!!!

Well suited for a stopover. We booked brunch on the weekend and were totally satisfied. Very large selection and delicious. From above where the buffet is there is also a nice view of the water.

In my opinion, the prices at Restaurant Alex are significantly overpriced for what you get. The waiting times for the dishes are long - especially if you come in a group. It happened that one person had already finished eating while the other person's food was just being served. On a normal Saturday afternoon, the restaurant was visibly overwhelmed. The servers openly said that even simple orders like an ice cream sundae can take up to 30 minutes. The quality of the food was rather average. The burger looked like a frozen patty - that's how it looked and that's how it tasted. For the life of me I can't understand how this restaurant gets 4.1 stars. For me, neither the service nor the price-performance ratio is right here. No recommendation.

Good food, very good churros but service too slow

We were at Alex Hafen on Thursday and were served by Hanna - super friendly, attentive and warm! Thank you for the great service – it really makes you feel welcome.

The ice cream was delicious, but unfortunately visually far from the picture on the menu.

Two of us ate there yesterday. When taking our order, we specifically and clearly pointed out to the waiter that the Parmesan cheese either had to be gratinated or not served with it, as my girlfriend wasn't allowed to eat it raw. The waiter replied that there was no way he could leave out the parmesan but he assured us it was over-baked. The spinach-salmon lasagna was then served in a very small bowl and raw leaf spinach with a lot of raw parmesan cheese was also served on the plate and the marinated tomato pieces were completely missing, but were on the menu. After the payment process we didn't even get a goodbye, let alone a thank you. No recommendation!

Food is almost always great! Unfortunately, service and hygiene leave a lot to be desired... There are hygiene articles lying around in every toilet in the women's toilets, there is neither toilet paper nor towel paper! In addition, the lid of the flush was missing... When we mentioned it, there was no apology (we would be too demanding)...

After a great, informative harbor tour, we stopped at the Alex on the landing stages and treated ourselves to coffee, lemonade and cake... it was very tasty... typical Alex. The service was nice and friendly. Unfortunately something went wrong with the cream we ordered... but it wasn't deducted when asked.

We waited 20 minutes to get a menu, we called the waiters several times and each time we were told "the colleague is coming", then we walked away. Worst service ever.

Unfortunately breakfast was very disappointing

The food is of course on the more expensive side due to the location (a Sprite for €6), the shop was quite full, so the staff often overlooked you, but they were very nice! The view was also good and so was the atmosphere, but if you're looking for something for your wallet and something quieter, you probably won't find it here.

Best place to visit the harbor. And especially in sunny weather. The employees remain friendly and relaxed even when there is a lot of traffic.

The location is of course undeniably wonderful but I was disappointed with the breakfast. We had breakfast at Alex on the Alster years ago and it was much better. The selection of bread and rolls was really modest, some of the plates were very carelessly prepared. We said the place sucks a bit but the food is absolutely overrated.

I've been there several times now, always great food and a great atmosphere, but what needs to be mentioned is the staff is very friendly and does an absolutely great job! Especially the waiter Fadly, who I always go to when he's there because he does his job so well! Big praise!

We were here with the click, had a great meal, like there was no tomorrow. My caffeine content has increased to almost 400g per day thanks to the 2 Espresso Martini Velvet White. Nice waiter, delicious food and above all, simply great. Thank you for this great service - we will be back!

Correct waiter, super tender steak, salad also delicious. Then poured three cocktails behind the twigs and flicked the salamander out of the turf. To say goodbye, we filled up the latrine, everything was very clean. All in all, a very enjoyable stay, would happily return.

We were at Alex on the Alster at lunchtime on April 25th, 2025 and at Alex on the Überseebrücke in the evening, thanks to the entire team for everything 👍 we are happy to recommend it!

We had breakfast at “Alex” and were absolutely thrilled. Large buffet with good, varied dishes until 12:00. The view of the Elbe is also impressive and creates a truly unique atmosphere. The employees were consistently friendly and helpful. It was a good choice.

The view over the port of Hamburg is of course unbeatable. So much in advance. Unfortunately the food was below average. Small portions, my hummus with falafel came with unseasoned couscous and hard bread. The Fries Deluxe came with a minimal hint of sauce and the vegetables also described on the menu had to be looked for with a magnifying glass. The children's fish fingers were changed to fries, but unfortunately the vegetable side dish was apparently automatically omitted. The prices are extremely high, here you pay more for the view than the food. The service was fine. Friendly and quite fast despite the restaurant being full.

Unfortunately a very disappointing visit. We had to wait a very long time for our food and when it finally came it was cold. Just a lousy apology from the staff, no solution in sight. Overall, a pretty frustrating experience, especially in a place like the Landungsbrücken where you would expect something better. No recommendation.

An extremely arrogant waiter told us that five people were not allowed to sit at a table in this restaurant. 🤷🏼‍♂️ (I beg your pardon) A family with three children put up with this nonsense; They sat down three at one table and two at another table. 🤦🏼‍♂️ “Those are the rules,” he said. The waiter reacted very briskly to my wife's lack of understanding; whatever she could think of as a woman to discuss with him. It is strange that people without self-control like this are employed in customer-facing areas. A cosmopolitan city like Hamburg doesn't need a restaurant with such staff.
