ALEX in Oberhausen

Today, the three of us enjoyed the delicious breakfast buffet. The selection was very extensive and delicious. However, we were overwhelmed by the incredibly friendly service. We would love to come back!!

The food was delicious, although the quantity could have been a bit larger. I ordered a bowl. Service was friendly and they kept checking, unobtrusively, whether everything was okay. I highly recommend it; we'll be back!

Unfortunately very disappointing on Saturday. The "placer" was outrageously unfriendly and insulted us because we sat down at the wrong table. We left immediately. After countless visits we were very disappointed.

The food was really tasty, as was the service that day. I've also experienced service failures there. What my 12-year-old son first noticed and then really bothered him was that the floor was still dirty with breakfast crumbs and egg residue at 3:30 p.m. The table could also have been cleaner. The food (a bowl, schnitzel, nuggets) was really good.

Update 2025: Always happy and very tasty at civilian conditions The restaurant in the Centro has consistently earned 5 stars since 2001.

It's a disgrace that someone is standing there at the toilets with a money plate. Is not customer friendly. This makes you feel psychologically pressured to give something. This means the stay is no longer relaxing and enjoyable.

Service a smooth 6! We are insulted and insulted by the waiter because I snapped when I raised my hand to draw attention to myself. I don't know whether this is rude, but if it is my mistake, I expect to be explained in a friendly manner and not insults! Our cake was forgotten, but of course they tried to charge for it, what a shame! I don't visit this store twice!

Super good selection of delicious dishes for the breakfast buffet: rolls, bread, eggs, salmon, yoghurt and and and... There was no end to both sweet and savory dishes and you almost couldn't keep up with trying everything. It gets a little more crowded after 10 a.m., but before that you had almost the entire counter to yourself. Our incredibly warm waitress, Jacqueline, took her time with each table and welcomed us with open arms. Highly recommended!

The alleged boss David seemed extremely unsympathetic to me. I'm heavily pregnant and had a donut with me. I ordered drinks for my husband and I from “Alex”. Only after we ordered was I informed that I wasn't allowed to eat the donut because they sell their own cakes and waffles in-house. In my opinion, the employee's behavior was unprofessional and disrespectful. Particularly annoying: As soon as we entered the restaurant it was clear that we had a donut box with us - but nothing was said until we had already consumed it. Conclusion: Never again “Alex” in the Centro Oberhausen. If I could give zero stars, I would happily do so.

My wife is heavily pregnant and we brought her a donut that she wanted to enjoy with a coffee in the café. Shortly after we sat down, a gentleman named David - apparently the person in charge on site - came up to us and asked us in a rude tone not to eat the donut, as the café offers its own waffles and cakes. I find it absolutely inhumane to speak so disrespectfully to a pregnant woman - especially in the presence of her husband. Instead of finding a solution or at least remaining friendly, he even threatened us with the police and demanded that we pay for drinks that we hadn't even consumed yet. Such behavior is unacceptable to me - neither professional nor customer-friendly.

Vivienne served us great today. The wraps and the bowl were great. Bananofee waffle is a clear recommendation.

As for the food: compliments to the kitchen! The wrap was delicious, the coffee was aromatic – in terms of taste it could have really been a highlight. But what happened next defies description. The service? An absolute disaster. No, actually a prime example of how not to do it. I politely ask if we can order - and am answered in a tone somewhere between annoyed, condescending and latently aggressive: "Yes, that's what I'm here for." Sorry for bothering you at your work. Then I had to ask no less than four times for my coffee to have sweetener. By the fourth time, I felt like I had to apply in triplicate. When we wanted to pay, the long wait began: we sat there for over 30 minutes without anyone even looking at us. Pure ignorance. Because we really had to move on, we got up and went to the checkout to pay ourselves - hoping to get there quicker. And what happens? We're literally being bullied there. An employee speaks to us in a tone as if we had just dismantled the furniture: "How dare we just walk in here. That must happen to the waiter." Unbelievable. But that's not all: When we were finally able to pay the waitress outside, she commented smugly on the whole thing: "Oh, I thought you'd already left without paying." Pardon?! After all this ignorant, disrespectful behavior, we are also implicitly told that we can just leave? I was stunned. I have never experienced this way of speaking to guests - arrogant, condescending, completely disrespectful. I didn't feel like a guest, but like an annoying intruder. Conclusion: Great food - service at a level that you wouldn't want to expect from anyone. I'm honestly horrified.

I waited a very long time for service, about 35 minutes. The salad I ordered was delicious, the bread served with it was hard as a rock. The price-performance ratio doesn't fit at all.

An absolute disaster! I specifically ordered a non-alcoholic drink and still received something with alcohol - a serious mistake that should never happen. When I brought up the error and pointed out that I might have an allergic reaction to it, the operations manager simply laughed at me. He just said cheekily: “Then that’s just the way it is.” Such a disrespectful and irresponsible reaction is unbelievable and dangerous! The only bright spot was the friendly waiter who really made an effort. Nevertheless, today was definitely the last visit for me. I absolutely cannot recommend this restaurant!

Well suited for vegetarians. My partner had the VeggieSchnitzel and he loved it. I had a very tasty and fresh punch. Drinks were also delicious. Highly recommended!

We've been looking for a place for a long time! Outside! Eventually found one. After sitting down we wanted to look at the menu for drinks. Unfortunately, the waiter asked us to get up because people from somewhere were also looking for a seat. We had neither been able to see these people before nor could we have assumed that this free place had been reserved! That was really a disgrace!

Eating and drinking together is no longer an option.

my german is horrible so forgive me for not attempting. 5 stars. my only complaint is the pepper&salt is not provided at the table and you have to ask for it. which is to say, no complaints at all food is SO delicious. the portion sizes are kind of huge and i am a small eater, so i could not finish it, but rest assured, in my heart, i would have licked the plate clean. staff is very friendly and service is fast. the decor is quaint and tables are cleaned thoroughly. restrooms were clean too. it gets very busy very quickly, but you should trust the crowd and try to get a table. great place!!

We went here for breakfast and it was very good. The service was very good and the waitress was very nice, attentive and friendly. It was very crowded and therefore a little louder, but you could still have a good conversation. I definitely recommend it.

Today we spontaneously went to Alex Oberhausen for the first time. It was a great experience from start to finish. The breakfast buffet was fantastic and extensive. And especially our service from Vivi (according to Kasenbon) was super friendly and made our day! Thank you very much for that 🙋🏼‍♀️ we'll be back!

Had a great space outside. Our waitress Vivi was on her toes and super friendly. Drinks and food came immediately and everything was delicious.

I enjoy having breakfast here with my mother, the staff are always friendly and accommodating. We were often served by Vivi and were always satisfied, her positive and friendly manner is very nice. We always feel in good hands and all wishes are taken into account. Would love to come back.

I went to Alex Cafe Restaurant in Centro and had a hot chocolate there. The service and friendliness of the staff were really good, there's nothing wrong with that. However, the atmosphere didn't quite suit my personal taste. For people with similar ideas to me, it might not be entirely suitable. Still a decent café with good service — hence 4 out of 5 stars.

Delicious bistro. Everything from burgers, baked potatoes and delicious snacks is available. You can also order one or two cocktails here from the consistently friendly staff. Today (April 17th, 2025) I unfortunately have to correct my assessment... Are you allowed to go shopping alone and then treat yourself to something to eat alone.... No, people are pulled forward who appear after you because there is no table for two... This stupid custom that I am not allowed to choose my seat for which I pay like everyone else... Impossible 4 points for the food from the old days. Unfortunately, I can't rate it today

A very attractive restaurant with super friendly service. The food is prepared with attention to detail and tastes excellent. The brunch buffet is extremely diverse and sumptuous. The only drawback: The background noise was extremely loud; at times I almost had to shout at my companion during the conversation. But otherwise great!

Not a bad shop in and of itself, but as a part-time job I would recommend that everyone just keep the clothes after the end of the employment relationship instead of giving them back because you don't get the "deposit" back anyway (i.e. well over €100 rental fee for work clothes), but it's still very nicely furnished for a system restaurant. Allendorfer Riesling is by far the best wine in the house.

Almost 10 minutes after the guests behind us, who arrived shortly after us, were brought their drinks, we were asked by the waiter in charge of our section if we wanted to order. Thankfully, one of his colleagues had already taken our order in the meantime. When our order was brought, instead of a cocoa without cream, we got one with cream and a milkshake instead of a smoothie. We won't be back and wouldn't recommend it.

I'm back again. I haven't written in a while. We had breakfast, everything was perfect. So, a recent visit. We sat outside. Everything was good. The staff was friendly. The food was good. Unfortunately, the place was very crowded. There was a long wait to order and pay. The staff are very friendly and accommodating once you get them at your table.

You can spend some lovely hours in a cozy atmosphere. The staff are very friendly and the food and drinks are very good. Always a highlight when we visit the Centro in Oberhausen.

We rarely go to Oberhausen, but when we do we like to have breakfast at Alex. The selection is large and it tastes great! The staff is very attentive - with that in mind, thanks to Vivi, who was super friendly and personable! LG :-)

To get the day off to a good start, we went to the breakfast buffet at ALEX near Centro. At first, we had trouble finding the restaurant, but with Google Maps, it was relatively easy. All-you-can-eat breakfast buffet, everything your heart desires. Be it scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, cheese, pancakes... all there for a set price. Drinks are extra, but that's normal. Really friendly staff, we had a really good time there and left stuffed.

We were pleasantly surprised. We actually wanted to eat somewhere else, but since everything was full, we spontaneously went to ALEX. Normally I don't find such chains worth it in terms of quality. But the food was surprisingly good. Nothing special, but really tasty. We can recommend both the pasta and the bowl. The service was also very nice and accommodating.

Very tasty food and we also had the lemon spritzer. The food came very quickly, within an hour we were back outside, full and not thirsty. Service was friendly and good.

Wenn wir in Oberhausen sind, lassen wir uns das großartige Frühstücksbüffet nicht entgehen: tolle Abwechslung - es ist für jeden Geschmack etwas dabei, es wird immer alles schnell wieder nachgelegt und das Personal ist ausgesprochen freundlich und aufmerksam. Aus diesem ohnehin schon sehr positiven Team möchten meine Frau und ich Vivi besonders herausheben. Es war purer Zufall, dass wir jetzt zwei mal nacheinander in ihrem Bereich saßen. Aber diese Frau ist für einen Arbeitgeber ja mit Geld kaum zu bezahlen. Unfassbar freundlich, stellt sich total klasse auf ihre Kunden ein und ist immer in Action und aufmerksam, was sie jetzt wem und wo noch Gutes tun kann. Einfach klasse!

Saturday is a busy day. Yet this is the most unwelcoming of the Alex chain I have encountered. At the sign ‘Wait to be seated’ a guy who apparently was never taught common politeness is commanding the guests to stand on the left side, and then waits a minute before asking with how many people you are. Absurd behaviour and absolutely not the way you should welcome guests. The contrast with Alex Dusseldorf could nog be greater … so please teach your staff the word ‘please’ and to smile. It took service a while to arrive at our table. We ordered ceasar wrap and schnitzel. From then on service was efficient. The fries were cold, and were quickly replaced. Quality waa good at a fair price. Luckily the experience here was compensated well with what we came for. However, the tone at our arrival will put people off. Management should do something about that, definitely.

Unfortunately, the Fresh Falafel Bowl for €16.90 won't fill you up. This is also confirmed by the service when asked. The bowl is served on a very large plate in a very “media-effective” way, but it has no depth. I then ordered another one. Including 2 Grasshopper smoothies for €7.20 each, the whole fun cost almost €50!

Actually, we always say that we should actually go somewhere else but because it's so good we always end up at Alex and are always super satisfied. The service is attentive and funny, ready for any kind of fun, answers Klug. You feel in good hands there. I think as long as Alex is there we will stop by there.
