We were just going out for drinks.

Summer chill with great food and lightning-fast service. Delicious and beautifully presented food, fair prices, lovely terrace by the water. A fantastic experience, and we'll be back soon for our second visit after Christmas. Lightning-fast service, delicious food, a wide selection, and seasonal treats. Another great experience.

Whenever we're at Centro, we like to stop here. Pleasant atmosphere, good menu with a wide selection, and delicious drinks.

We've been coming here for almost 20 years now. A great, relaxed location right on the Centro Promenade. It's a lovely place to linger. We'll be back!

Today we drove to Oberhausen to the Centro shopping center and spontaneously decided to grab breakfast somewhere there. That's how we ended up at Alex. We were greeted immediately and shown to a table. The staff was incredibly friendly, motivated, and polite. Plus, they were all wonderful with children. We felt completely at ease. The breakfast buffet was fantastic, and the price was really great: We'll definitely be back! 🙂

We went there for breakfast; there was a very large selection, everything was quickly replenished, and the staff were always courteous and friendly even though it was very busy. Drinks have to be paid for separately.

The food was average, the prices above average. The burger had hardly any sauce. The tarte flambée was okay.

"Dear Sir or Madam, I would like to share my experience from a while ago at Alex Centro. My colleague and I were sitting outside. When it started to rain, we wanted to move to a free, sheltered spot next to ours. At that moment, the waitress arrived with our drinks and brought them directly to the new table. She then went inside, whereupon the shift manager appeared. He accused me of harassing the waitress, which is absolutely untrue. Despite my vehement explanation, he persisted, even demanding that we pay before we had even had a drink, and forced us to get up and leave. After complaining to the head office by phone and email, I was, to make matters worse, banned from the premises. This is completely unlawful and incredibly disrespectful. I want potential customers to be aware of these conditions."

We were here for the Advent brunch with 8 adults and 6 children. Our server and everyone else were very friendly, and the buffet had a good selection for everyone. The children and we adults felt completely at ease and had a wonderful time. We'll definitely be back!

The food was delicious, the portions were OK, and the service was great!

First off: The staff were incredibly motivated and friendly. The service was quick and they were very experienced. They definitely knew what was on the menu. We had a bowl and a cheeseburger. The bowl was fresh and delicious. The cheeseburger, however, wasn't so great. The meat was dry and the burger very bland. There was very little sauce. Unfortunately, not great for the price.

I stopped here after arriving at the airport hungry. The food is tasty and the service is quick and friendly. Now I also know what "quiche" is.

A mother-daughter trip to Oberhausen for the Centro Shopping Mall and the Christmas Market. We were looking for a vegetable-rich meal on the promenade. We ordered two bowls at Alex's: a Poké Tuna Bowl and a Chicken Bowl. Delicious with a few beers. We watched the Christmas market go by while we ate.

It has become our favorite location in CentrO.

My best friend and I had dinner together today. The service was so friendly and polite. The staff was very helpful in helping us choose our food. The drinks were really delicious, and the value for money was unbeatable. 🙏 We left satisfied and happy. Thank you! ❤️

During our visit to the Christmas market, we stopped at ALEX for a cozy coffee. We enjoyed a delicious and beautifully presented waffle with ice cream and whipped cream. The attentive and very friendly staff made the experience even more special. We'll definitely be back!

The breakfast buffet was absolutely delicious, with a huge selection of breads and rolls, Kellogg's, muesli, various jams, croissants, scrambled eggs, fried eggs, quark, yogurt, cold cuts and cheese, pancakes, and so on. A glass of orange juice was included. Drinks like coffee were charged separately. For such a huge selection, the price was perfectly reasonable. The service was friendly and attentive. The restrooms were clean. I was there during the week leading up to Christmas. The only downside was that it was very crowded and noisy.

We were a party of four at this restaurant on December 14, 2025. The welcome was very warm, and the service was friendly – ​​that much is clear. However, the food... we ordered the Alex Burger three times with different sides. One burger was missing the sauce, and the salad consisted of just dry leaves without any dressing. The burger patty was very hard and dry. We complained, and it was corrected. The restaurant was very crowded, which may have been the reason, but in our opinion, this shouldn't happen, especially since we paid almost €50 per couple for two burgers and a drink each. Everything has become a bit more expensive, and customers are paying closer attention to what they get for their money. It's also worth mentioning that the fries were very good.

Disaster! You wait up to half an hour for your order and then another half hour for it to arrive. Four waiters are standing in the corner chatting amongst themselves. Super organized! 👏👏👏 Keep it up! 👎👎👎

We arrived for brunch at 11:30, which is only served until 12, but they kept replenishing the food and the service was quick. Thumbs up!

Very nice. We were there last night after the Christmas market for a drink. We had a very nice and funny waiter.

We sat near the kitchen door. The plates that came out looked great. All the plates came back empty. We only had drinks and a piece of apple pie. Unfortunately, there was ice cream in the apple pie. It was a good cappuccino, though. Not a small cup.

Best Alex I've ever been to. Got a table on a Friday evening without a reservation, super friendly service, delicious food. Cocktails were quite expensive and the glass was only half full (the only downside).

During the Christmas market, I ate at Alex Restaurant in Oberhausen. Oberhausen is a beer city, so I deliberately ordered a large glass of beer. Unfortunately, it wasn't cold at all and was still quite cold. I spoke to the waiter, but he thought it was normal. That's disappointing. I ordered a 300-gram ribeye steak with my beer, cooked medium. It looks good, but it's very tough and has a lot of tendon and fat. It's a real shame. I have to chew really hard to get it down. This left me with a sore jaw. Normally, a good steak should be tender. It's a real disappointment.

It was very crowded, but we still managed to get a table. The food was good, but the table was a bit small.

Alex is great for breakfast and brunch, but from lunchtime onwards it's more like a fast-food restaurant. A shame.

We wanted to have a drink after an event. The wine arrived immediately, but the piña colada was delayed. When we asked about it, we were told not to be so impatient and that the cocktail was being prepared (without anyone checking). However, after waiting even longer, the cocktail never arrived. We finally paid when the wine was gone. Very disappointing.

Rib-eye rip-off. They threw away the fat crust from a rump steak and then sold it as an expensive rib-eye despite my complaint! Never again! Over €30 for a fake steak that was badly grilled. Tough on the outside and still way too bloody inside for medium. Absolutely outrageous!

There were two of us at the breakfast buffet, and we were absolutely delighted. It was very busy, yet still a pleasant experience. The staff is always friendly and available. The prices for the extras are a bit high, but you have to treat yourself sometimes.

Unfortunately, some of the dishes have been changed. We've been fans of the chicken karaage bowl for years. About every two to three weeks, we used to travel from Gelsenkirchen to Alex to eat our favorite bowl. Today, we were horrified to discover that the recipe has been completely changed. We absolutely don't like it anymore. It's a shame; we won't be coming back. We're very sad and disappointed.

We were absolutely blown away! Five of us came, and it was very busy, so we had to wait a while for a table. Despite the high level of stress, the staff member in charge was absolutely composed and kept us updated on how long it would take to be seated. The food was truly delicious, and our service truly deserved 6 stars! We'll definitely be back!

Alex is always worth a visit. Despite the crowds, the organization is excellent. You're greeted warmly at the door and shown to your table as soon as there's space. The food is very good. The only minor drawback is that it's very loud.

I tried to make a reservation through the website, but that didn't work. There's a link on the website (reservations for groups) where you can leave your details and, if applicable, indicate the reason for your dinner. I filled out everything: reason, email address, phone number, etc. Unfortunately, I haven't received a response for a few days. I called the restaurant, and they said they don't accept reservations on Saturdays and that I should try Saturday. Even though there's a reservation button on their website. Please state this clearly.

The food here is very good, the only only problem that we encounter was the waiting time. We finally started eating after waiting for like 45 minutes. The time to order drinks was like 5 minutes. The time to finally have our drinks is like 10 minutes. The time to finally order something were almost 20 minutes. And after 10 minutes we finally started eating. This is all after asking the staff that we want to order something.

We've had breakfast here several times on our visits to Oberhausen and are always impressed by the selection and service.

I've always been satisfied so far and enjoyed coming here for drinks with friends. However, my girlfriend and I were a little hungry and just wanted a children's menu with mashed potatoes, fish sticks, and spinach. I have an intestinal condition that causes many intolerances, and large, hearty portions in the evening simply don't agree with me, so I chose that particular menu. 1. The waitress was unfriendly and completely unmotivated to help. 2. We didn't get the menu because they apparently weren't allowed to sell it to us like that!! In the end, I had to choose something completely different that I couldn't tolerate as well. If the children's menu for adults had cost a bit more than the children's menu, I would have paid the money anyway, but that wasn't even offered to us. I often get children's menus in restaurants and cafes because I can manage the portions and don't waste anything, and it's no problem at all! I've always enjoyed coming here, but you can only give it one star. Next time, I won't order food there and will just eat somewhere else. I think it's a shame that you can't accommodate the individual needs of visitors, even though we weren't expecting much. Furthermore, the waitress was totally annoyed at taking our order. You really need to work on your staff. It used to be better!

Unfortunately, it was a complete disaster. We ate a burger and a ribeye steak, along with a beer and a bottle of water. Initially, only the beer was served. The water arrived ages later, half the glass already filled with melted ice. It looked like it had been prepared by the counter and then forgotten to be served. The burger patty didn't taste like fresh beef. It was highly compressed/pressed meat with no structure, and the pure taste of the meat was unappealing. More than half was left uneaten. The ribeye, which cost over €30, was an absolute disaster. We ordered it "medium." The outer parts of the steak were well cooked. However, the center, where the fat is, never received enough heat. It was almost "rare," and the fat was inedible. Furthermore, the entire steak (even in the areas where it was well cooked and the color was just right) was extremely tough and difficult to chew. I left half of the steak, which was unfortunately inedible. The service, unfortunately, also showed no sensitivity. When we were asked shortly after our meal if everything was okay, we said it wasn't particularly tasty. The answer we received was "But it's supposed to taste good"...and with that, the waiter finished and went on to serve the next table. When it came to clearing the table and the half-full plates were on the table, we were told that we should have said something about the complaint earlier. Didn't we? At least, when asked, it was admitted that the late delivery of water was a service error. In our opinion, the described defects in the food are more likely due to inferior/frozen produce than to poor preparation, so remaking it wouldn't have helped. At least it's a very pleasant place to sit :-)

Last week, the three of us were at the Alex for a reunion after many years apart. Our joy at seeing each other again after all these years was absolutely topped off by Raman's excellent service. The food and drinks were delicious. The service was spot on. Not too intrusive and not too long-winded. Just as it should be. 😊 Thank you so much for that.
