We were there at the weekend for the breakfast buffet on a Saturday. For the price you get a large buffet selection, from scrambled eggs and mini sausages to cold cuts and antipasti. There is a normal selection of rolls, nothing extravagant. There is also a selection of cereals and also croissants and pancakes. All in all, a good selection - with a glass of orange juice to go with the buffet. Drinks must be ordered separately.

Mini small portions that we had to wait forever for. We waited a long time until we were allowed to sit down at an uncomfortable bistro table. Apparently we were punished for not making a reservation, as cozy lounge corners around us remained empty.

The waitress Mela is a very personable and friendly waitress☺️❤️ and works very professionally. The service was great and I also really enjoyed the food. That's why I'm happy to come back again.👌

Nice service, good service, short waiting time for food

We had breakfast here with our son today. I can honestly say that I have rarely had such an extensive, delicious and filling breakfast buffet for this price. Price/performance is right! Everyone full, everything delicious. The glass of orange juice per person at the buffet was actually the only thing I didn't like: it was very watery. I liked the service, no one seemed annoyed or unfriendly. Ambience ok, a bit tired, but clean. A little too loud for my taste when the place is full. One point deducted for the all-round feel-good experience. We would recommend breakfast in Oberhausen.

The two of us were there and had breakfast. The selection at the buffet was okay. Not outstanding. Missing food was quickly refilled. However, compared to a hotel breakfast, we were missing salmon, meat salad and herring salad, for example. And neither the sliced ​​cheese nor the plain cooked ham. Too bad! There is still a lot that can be optimized in terms of quality, even if you consider that the missing margin is compensated for by horrendous drink prices. We ordered a large bottle of mineral water and were amazed at the price: 7.10 euros! Yes, it's from Apollinaris, but is 7.10 euros justified?!?! I get almost two boxes for that.

The food is nice, and the service is awesome! I really love to go there(in the evening a bit loud for me, my personal thought). Celine needs a raise why with her smile bring 1000 point to Griffindorf!

Today we took advantage of the breakfast buffet at Alex. The food was fresh and tasty, and all dishes were replenished regularly. The containers were all labeled so that any intolerances could be noted. Questions were answered in a friendly manner by the staff. The service was extremely friendly and in a good mood. The restaurant is largely barrier-free. The sanitary facilities were clean.

Absolute the best food. Servings are always fresh. We have been here several times now and it is still the place for us to go when meetings with friends and have a fun time. Never disappointed!

The menu offers a variety of dishes and the food was very tasty. The bowls are particularly recommended. The service was also friendly and quick There is a star deduction because I think the gentleman at the toilet is intrusive. If you pay for food and drink here, the use of the toilet should be included. In principle it is, because paying on the plate is voluntary. But if you feel like you're being watched in the (men's) toilet area and the man always stands right at the door when someone goes out, it's more than unpleasant.

We were in Oberhausen this morning and wanted to have a coffee at Alex around 1:30 p.m. We sat outside and took cards from another table since there weren't any on ours. The service took a long time, but it was quite busy, so you can turn a blind eye. When the gentleman came, he distributed the cards to the other tables and when he got to our table, he gathered up the cards we had taken without saying a greeting and then put an identical pair back down to put the other cards back on to place the original table. No smile, no explanation, just an angry face. My husband then asked if he could say hello, so he simply served the table behind us. We then got up and left because it really upset my husband. I would just like to point out that we certainly can't help the gentleman's bad mood, no matter where it came from, and that the gentleman can really ruin a very nice morning that my husband and I are very rarely able to enjoy together was in a bad mood for a long time about this nuisance.

Too bad, we did not want to receive the starter and the main menu at the same time. In the end there was 2 minutes between the dishes, which could have been a little longer because the starter had not even been eaten yet and the next dish had already arrived.

Good food, fast service at a fair price

When you come in, everyone is already hectic. You are barked at, telling you that you should take a table for two, where to put your jacket and bag, a chair next to it... You are asked several times not to do that. When you turn around, everyone has them lying on a chair. It's incredibly loud. Orders arrive after 15 minutes. With this unspeakable friendliness, I just finished eating. As a guest you feel like you are on an assembly line.

There were 4 of us on Sunday, October 6th. to the cafe at ALEX. It was very crowded and loud. I had waffles and cafe. At some point the drinks came (my cafe didn't) but the food didn't come. Then my cafe came (cold) and the waitress said she would check on the waffles. That took a while, the others had already finished eating. Then came the waffle (also cold). We complained but the waitress said we had to contact the head office. OK...then there's probably no one in charge at the restaurant. Conclusion... a lot of money saved because the waitress didn't get a tip. Tipping for good service is a given, but there is nothing for bad service. Conclusion: Never again ALEX...

A really very nice restaurant. There were three of us, everyone ordered something different, and all three dishes were delicious. And we took our dog in, she also got water from our very kind waitress. It is highly recommended. We look forward to the next time

The food is only okay, not much variety

Unfortunately, our food and drinks were not convincing and the atmosphere was loud and chaotic. The cake was very dry, the chai latte was inedible (watered down with pieces) and was hardly touched - when asked if we liked it, we politely explained that unfortunately we didn't like it and that was what we were missing. The service staff then said that we should contact the headquarters in Wiesbaden about this. I'll do it this way. Of course we had to pay for the drink in full and money was also charged when using the toilet - not exactly a customer-oriented approach. It's a shame that this couldn't be clarified on site. Therefore no recommendation from me.

Unfortunately, my visit to Alex in Oberhausen at the Centro was anything but pleasant. We ordered two burgers that sounded promising on the menu "prime beef burger with cheddar and fresh ingredients" but the meat was a frozen patty with an unpleasant aftertaste. After a few bites I gave up. The fries were also just plain frozen goods and not very convincing. We also had gyoza, which was subpar, and the "homemade" iced tea tasted more like heavily watered down instant iced tea. The service also left a lot to be desired - we only got the menu and cutlery when we asked. The worst thing, however, was the price: we paid a whopping 60 euros for two drinks, two burgers with fries and the gyoza. An absolute disaster for what was essentially pure frozen food. The price-performance ratio here is not right at all. Unfortunately not a place I can recommend.

We were at Alex on Sunday with 4 people. No problem, but friends happened to come and suddenly there were 8 of us. Angie worked her magic and everything fell into place in no time and we were able to enjoy the afternoon. Fast, friendly service and delicious cakes/waffles at a fair price. We had breakfast there before the shopping tour in the Centro. Also available. Buffet for €15.30, but without drinks. Only a small orange juice is included. With coffee and a juice you can quickly get to €25 per nose. If you like a hearty breakfast, the buffet was great. Meatballs, sausages, fried potatoes, fried eggs... Great. Buffet itself with a good selection and products. But the structure of the dishes could be put together better. Instead of putting the plates and rolls separately, I would put the hearty part separately and thus create the opportunity to go through the buffet starting with the plates and rolls. As it was now, it was already a hustle and bustle back and forth. What also stood out was the staff. It was very friendly but unfortunately rarely seen. If I have to pay extra for drinks, then I also expect the waitress to be there.

The waitress who served the terrace today is miserable. This is the second time I have experienced such impudence there and only from her. I politely asked to turn on the heater because it was cold in the evening, but it would probably have been too warm for her to work. If I were you, I would look for climate-driven work. But the main thing is that she puts on a jacket. And it's also very sad that you have so few blankets in such a big store.

Not recommended at all on the terrace with today's waitress. Presence 0 points, customer requests 0 points. Working under the open heaters would be too uncomfortable for her and would leave all the customers cold. Four tables asked and each time the answer was the same. So few ceilings for such a large terrace is also incomprehensible.

We were at table 210 and are thrilled with our waitress Vivi, she is incredibly friendly, nice, accommodating and is also very easy to chat with, the service was great and the food and drink was great and tasted very good. We'll definitely be back

When we asked to turn on the heater, the heavily tattooed blonde employee told us that it wasn't possible because she would be too warm, she rolled her eyes and left. We were so looking forward to visiting Alex until the shift manager (blonde, hair tied in a bun, tattoos on arm) served us this evening/today's late damage (Thursday, September 19th, 2024, 9:15 p.m.) We're really not picky, but looking the guest in the eye while serving, at least briefly, would have been the least we could do. We ordered waffles, all well and good. I missed the fact that there was strawberry sauce on the menu too. I asked the “waitress” if it would be possible to exchange the waffle. Without accommodating me even a little bit, she said that wasn't possible, that she should now put the waffle on another plate and that it would be specifically on the menu. She confirmed to me her way of thinking that she usually assumes that guests only care about the money and that's why she didn't suggest bringing me a completely new waffle. Your manner is simply catastrophic, completely unaccommodating! We felt incredibly uncomfortable and couldn't enjoy anything anymore. Thank you for ruining our evening at Alex and to the operations manager: Maybe it would be an advantage to hire a friendlier and more respectful shift manager. We also ordered a lactose-free latte macchiato and it arrived with regular milk. The result was stomach cramps.

Ladies and Gentlemen I would like to file a complaint about the shift manager at the Alex Restaurant in Oberhausen. During my last visit on September 19th, 2024 at 9:00 p.m. on the outdoor terrace, I unfortunately discovered that the treatment of guests did not meet the standards that one would expect from a restaurant of your reputation. The shift manager, who identified herself as such (blonde hair), was extremely unfriendly during my stay and seemed uninterested in helping guests or addressing their concerns. Not only was their communication rude, but it was also unprofessional, which greatly detracted from the entire experience. I am convinced that a friendly and helpful tone as well as appropriate communication with customers are of great importance in creating a pleasant atmosphere. Unfortunately, this was not the case in this case. I hope you take this feedback seriously and take appropriate action to improve the quality of service in your restaurant.

Disappointing visit to the Alex restaurant in Oberhausen After a nice shopping tour in the center, my wife and I were looking forward to dinner at the Alex restaurant. Unfortunately, our visit was anything but satisfactory. As a starter we ordered bruschettas. To our horror, a half-dead wasp was found in the portion delivered. We immediately pointed this out to the staff and the employee brought us new bruschettas within just 30 seconds. When I asked whether these were actually freshly prepared, the employee explained that the bruschettas are pre-made in the kitchen and can be handed out immediately if necessary. I found this very strange, as the original preparation had taken significantly longer. Unfortunately, the new bruschettas were also disappointing in taste. We usually eat there once a quarter, but either there's a new chef or something goes terribly wrong in the kitchen. I've never had bruschettas like that there before. The main courses were also not convincing. The fries I ordered were cold and the baked potato was also less than tasty. We paid 46.70 euros for all of this, which I find to be unreasonable given the poor quality. Normally the waiters always ask us whether we liked the food before we collect the money. This time, however, it was different: the waitress who served us seemed to be in a bad mood and didn't even ask us why our plates were still full. I found that very strange and disappointing. Overall, a very disappointing visit, which unfortunately prevents us from visiting the Alex restaurant in Oberhausen again so soon. PS: I'm adding the invoice. I have hidden some information.

I arranged to meet there for a spontaneous coffee on a Sunday morning (without a reservation) and was extremely surprised at how full the place was. All the other guests were here for the - probably extremely popular - breakfast buffet, including many birthday parties, because the song "Happy Birthday" was playing through the speakers every 10 minutes. Luckily we got 1 small table right at the entrance. The service was very nice, very present and took all the fuss with a lot of humor. Our spontaneous meeting was still very relaxed and pleasant and we were able to talk in peace. I would love to come back.

We and 2 other tables were literally checked out. 2 staff members were very very unfriendly. Yesterday's shift manager was unable to properly clarify the situation. Food could be ordered and paid for. Eating in peace, let alone asking for a second drink, was not possible. And this happened to 2 other tables yesterday. Forgotten souvenirs from another table were labeled a deck and thrown in the trash!!!? The food would have been very tasty if you could have finished it. A second visit never again...

Was there yesterday with 5 other people in Dortmund and was disappointed. The staff was rude to anyone who wore an uncle shirt (like us) - you were really dismissed. Suddenly they were cashing in and asked to leave because they wanted to close. The shift manager even became really rude to us when we complained about the rudeness - he should have been just as polite as we remained. It's sad that you're unfairly pigeonholed

It's just being processed here. The service staff comes once to take the order and only after a long wait, bring the drinks and that's it. And if you then want to pay, you have to ask people about it at least twice until someone finally comes.

Very tasty breakfast here on a Saturday. The buffet is very large, there are many different dishes and there is something for everyone. Everything is always filled up very quickly, which is of course great as a customer. There is no free juice here, only one at the start of breakfast, otherwise you have to order something from the menu. We can't do that, but okay. Toilets in great condition as there was a man responsible for cleanliness. Especially at peak times, breakfast or evening, I think the restaurant is very good.

We had to wait 20 minutes and ask inside twice to place our order. The only waitress in the outside area at the time apologized to us very succinctly and continued to ignore us. Luckily, other waitresses came too. The breakfast buffet is not suitable for vegans.

There were 4 of us at Alex today. The waitress initially just asked one of us if she would like something to drink and then left for the time being. We go to the chain quite often in different cities. Also in Oberhausen Yes, there are definitely not always good days but this time we were very disappointed. Among other things, we ordered the nachos, what we got seemed to be the rest of a bag. In total there were maybe 5 whole pieces in the shell, the rest were all just small pieces, on average a centimeter in diameter to smaller. Of course, you usually eat nachos with your hand, but the fork provided had its purpose. There was no other way to eat. We rarely complain about food, but we had to complain. What we got back was the same thing only with the rest of the bag. The waitress was of course less enthusiastic but had no ambition to please us either. What annoys me the most is that I didn't take a photo to prove that I wasn't exaggerating.

We were there for the breakfast buffet on a Saturday. The selection was okay, I missed a fish platter, but maybe that was already gone. The staff was very friendly. Small price trap - drinks other than orange juice are subject to a surcharge, and coffee isn't even included. Apart from that, the coffee tastes terrible, I returned the full cup. However, a breakfast without coffee is basically over. The food was OK apart from the dessert yoghurt, the bacon depending on what was going on, the first batch was great, really crispy, the next batch was unfortunately too short in the pan and wobbly. the pancakes with hot cherries were great. Roll selection was OK. Croissants great. What really pisses me off, however, is that the table was totally sticky, which is pretty disgusting. The request to wipe the table was not complied with on the grounds that the sticky was due to the cleaner and the table was clean.
