City trip started with breakfast at “Alex” in the Frankfurt Skyline Plaza. Clean, tidy, modern - we had reserved online the evening before - it was 👍 Breakfast buffet more than sufficient - large selection: sausage/cheese/salmon, various cream cheese, jams, salads, eggs, vegetables, rolls, breads, sweet pastries, muesli. Ojuice is included for free, milk/quark for muesli. Other drinks such as cafe and tea are exclusive. Service friendly & accommodating, food tastes good, atmosphere great! Therefore 5 ☆ from me! From the café you can take a staircase to a small viewing platform - free of charge!

We were served drinks with wasps. In addition, after asking three times whether the food was really vegan, we were served shrimp dumplings instead of the vegan dumplings. We then had a medical emergency not because of the food but because of the stuffy air in the room. The only positive thing was that an employee helped us a lot in an emergency! That was my experience for a 60 euro meal for 2 people.

40€ for a breakfast with extra slow (45 mins to order drinks) and careless service and wasps. 🐝🐝🐝 Many seats outside are not covered from the sun. The wasps are everywhere, it’s really dangerous to eat there. The tables are dirty, especially the ones closer to the bushes. The waitress who covered that area didn’t clean them at all. She didn’t take our orders either. We had to move to another tables three times due to the wasps. When we were about to finish, another waitress finally asked us about our order. In total, we waited 45 mins just to order drinks. The food was tasty, but not so many vegetarian or vegan options and lack of milk alternatives for the cereal. I don’t recommend this place.

Went there for the buffet breakfast on a Saturday. Vibe: oh boy, expect to share your food with the hundreds of wasps flying over you and your food & drinks, the whole place is infested with them. Nothing more relaxing than trying to enjoy your breakfast constantly worried that a wasp is gonna sting you... saw a few ladies screaming when they were surronunded by them. As concerned clients we should all help organize a donation campagin so poor Alex can afford pest control... Service: while enjoying the company of our flying friends, we tried to get the attention of a blonde waitress who didn't seem to care. Her only interaction with us was complaining when we changed places because some tables outside weren't properly protected from the sun (in summer). Despite her not concerning herself with taking orders, she didn't have extra time to clean the tables either: most of them were piling up with plates, glasses, food and insects/birds. After 45ish minutes, we moved again to another area escaping the heat and the wasps, so finally a more competent lady was able to take our order. Food: good variety, overall good quality but veggies weren't the freshest. This was still the highlight of our experience there, and kind of expecte fo the price range.

So I’m gonna no recommend this restaurant to spend your time for chilling or more then to say a street cafe am Dach In Frankfurt. I was completely frustrated with food and drinks, lack of the service ( I waited about 15 to order just a drink and snacks), one tissue with cutlery… So I ordered a bruschetta for 6€ and a season spritz drink Which was diluted with water than prosecco and liquor….and bruschetta was completely awful…small cracker with tasteless grocery tomato’s and olive oil, so that’s you call a restaurant on the roof? It's not tasty, even the alcohol is diluted, there's nothing that I recommend for relaxing and brunch.

Yesterday we were in Frankfurt again for a long time. We chose the Alex as we loved the ambience at first glance as there is a roof terrace and it was very hot yesterday. That was the first impression. When we entered the restaurant we were first looked at. I had to specifically ask for a place on the terrace; if the “waitress” had had her way, she would definitely have seated us somewhere else. To the actual review: The seating outside is unsuitable for older or small people. The “service” was very unfriendly from the first to the last contact. The way she spoke to us was more pub level, so not in line with the prices! I had a cappuccino that I had to wait forever for, when I asked I was yelled at, the "colleague" would still need it, she hadn't forgotten it. When I said that I wasn't accusing her of that, she got really snappy. At some point the windows went up from the terrace. When I asked why that was the case and whether they would be opened again because it was unbearably hot, I was rudely told "we're already open again". My daughter had to go to the toilet, asked politely, was left standing without an answer. When she asked, she was given a card and the word "Starbucks" was thrown at her. My daughter is 11 and we don't know our way around the Zeilcenter. At the end it was time to pay, I had pasta with dried tomatoes and a chicken fillet (which cost an extra €4), my daughter had a burger with fries (fries not included in the price, cost another €3.50 extra) and water, which was everything "popular" orange juice (bile bitters) a cappuccino. In total we paid €51. I paid, the "waitress" turned around without a word and left! We also have an Alex in Saarbrücken! That's why and because we always like going there, we actually chose this restaurant. Bad mistake! Never again! If you could give minus stars for the service, it would be minus 10! I would suggest a job change to the black-haired, tattooed lady who served at Alex yesterday on August 7th, 2024. Or you can get proper training from management on how to deal with customers and service!

Nice place to relax and have a drink

Been there several times and always very satisfied. Food is very tasty. I recommend that you reserve a table in advance as it is already busy.

We waited about 35 minutes for the waiter to come over to place our order! We approached the waiters several times ourselves and they just said, “Wait 2 minutes.” And all of them. For some reason they served the rest of the customers. In the end we just left. What kind of service is this anyway?!

Good place to hang out during the day or evening with nice indoor and outdoor seating options. Location: huge place located on top of the skyline plaza with well over 200 seats both inside and outside. Food/drinks: food is decent but not great. Prices are acceptable for the area and size. Drinks are very good and prices for those are good/ very good Service: can get full and wait times can get long . Generally decent service but don’t expect polished first class service there

Very nice place, were there last Sunday. A little crowded but you could still get a seat without a reservation. The buffet is manageable, there are also warm dishes for lunch, but there is something for everyone.

Mit Freunden und Familie waren wir beim Sonntags Brunch im Alex und man muss sagen der brunch war super lecker mit einer sehr großen Auswahl. Auch das Personal ist super freundlich und sehr zuvorkommend und was wir als sehr positiv empfunden haben war das dass das Personal sehr aufmerksam war und Bestellungen schnell entgegen genommen wurden und auch immer leere Gläser bzw. Teller zeitnah abgeräumt wurden, obwohl das Lokal als auch die Terrasse Voll mit Gästen war. Einfach tolle Atmosphäre.

Ambiance and service are great. Unfortunately the food is just convenience. That's why I don't go to the restaurant. And fried potatoes that are paler than boiled potatoes do not deserve this name. The shop is ok for ending the evening with a drink, but for everything else you can satisfy your hunger cheaper downstairs in the food court.

After reserving a table for 8 to watch the European Championship football final, we arrive and they tell us they don't even have a TV. The staff at Alex Skyline Plaza told us they didn't have a TV. It's embarrassing

At the entrance you have to wait for the waiters who will then assign you to a seat. All well and good. Only the waiters just don't come (??). We had to go to the restaurant ourselves and bring them to us, only for the people who were 4 seats in the row behind us and had NOT reserved (what's the point?) to be assigned to a seat. Food is absolutely ok in terms of price and has a lot of variety. That's all great. We were there on July 14th at 11-12:30. There were about 100-150 in the restaurant. The service person actually only cheated 3 people. How are 3 waiters supposed to serve 100 people + take care of the entrance so that everything runs quickly and correctly? The service staff are completely understaffed and unfortunately, to be fair, they have to take a lot of criticism because everything naturally takes much longer and orders are constantly mixed up. I find it unfair. This is a complete disaster from higher management, which completely understaffs the service staff. Extremely poorly managed. Nevertheless, the restaurant is comparatively cheap for the food and the quality of it. You can't argue with the view, most places just have a blocked view.

I see a lot of reviews about the servers, ours was great. The waiters are running around, are proactive and professional, if they seem overwhelmed to you it is up to their boss to manage, they are employees not managers. Courage to them. Fast service. Regarding the cocktail, very good and fresh, I might have just added less sugar (according to my taste). See you soon.

An incredibly bad experience. When we arrived, a good 80% of the seats were occupied. The number of waiters would have been sufficient with trained staff, but in this case there was not enough front and back. This resulted in a wait of almost 20 minutes before we could even place our order. After another 15 minutes the first drinks came in the form of beers. The cocktails took another 10 minutes to arrive. An Aperol Spritz, placed with the first order and mentioned again when the cocktails were served, was not delivered for over an hour. Even when the dining room/terrace slowly emptied, the waiting times remained extreme. Some waiters had difficulty assigning orders to individual guests and sometimes walked back and forth between tables with a full tray for several minutes. About 20 minutes after we expressed our desire to pay the bill, we as a group had to go to the checkout to essentially demand the drinks be billed. Location and drink quality are good in themselves. The service is incredibly bad. We will steer clear of Alex in the future. Unfortunately, it was a somewhat unpleasant end to the evening.

Were there today even though there weren't many guests there. Staff worked really slowly. We waited 20 minutes for service. We asked a waitress several times to please take our order. They were then ignored. When paying at the end, the waiter made a mistake and paid me back €2 too little. I noticed it when he was gone. Well, I left it alone in the heat. Unfortunately, he's no longer the Alex I once knew.

Many temporary workers and sometimes a lack of professionalism detract from the overall impression.

The sky bar is lovely, but unfortunately not the coolest one you can visit in the area! However, the à la carte restaurant is open until 12:00, which is a definite plus if you want a meal later in the evening. Beautiful view, but as mentioned, it is blocked by other buildings, which prevents me from giving a top rating. The steak was absolutely fantastic. We went for fries as a side dish, and it was definitely the right choice. The only downside was that the salad was a bit too simple, and the fries were served without any dip. All in all, very satisfied with the visit! A big downside is the additional cost for water and ketchup, which totaled 7 euros alone.

The food (brunch) was absolutely fine and the ambience was very nice. Unfortunately, one star deducted because the food was often not refilled in time and another one for the sometimes lacking service. It took ages until the order was taken and then an eternal dry spell until the drinks came (sometimes only after the meal) and then some were never brought.

Good food and nice company. 😛🤣 I had the UGLY CRAZY BUTCHER'S BURGER for €15.50. I think the price is reasonable. However, I find the price of €3.50 for the side salad to be too high compared to the quantity. In my opinion, €0.80 for ketchup or mayonnaise is also too high

Got better! First of all: I don't like the management at all, they are pretty unprofessional. The food used to be a real disgrace and the service was outrageous to terrible. The food has improved a lot now! The service has also become much better! In the past, every street bum was employed - there were really bad characters there - but the new concept is now to employ predominantly young girls who are definitely trying. They still mess up a lot (see management), but at least they are polite. But there is still a lot of room for improvement. The store is always packed, which is 90% due to the location. Very nice on the terrace in the evening in summer. Now you should stop constantly chasing people away from seats on the terrace who have been waiting for service for 30 minutes and telling them that the part - for whatever stupid reason - is already "closed" and then that's it 5 Stars. Until then, it would be nice if the waitress brought the drink you ordered (messed up again today). To their credit, they have a lot of tables. Nevertheless, the management should be criticized here again; they should just train them better and pay them decently. The chain makes enough sales anyway. If this were my store, I would really work on customer satisfaction, there is still a lot of room for improvement. Normally you don't go to restaurants with a 3.9 rating. I'll come back anyway, I live next door anyway

Have been here for the 5th time now. Unfortunately, things are getting worse and worse. Ordered slow cooked beef, supposedly made from veal boiled beef! It was veal, but not boiled beef! Tough and tasteless! Hunger drives it in, as we also spend more than 30 minutes. Had to wait for our food. Since we first got the wrong dish (Greek salad). 3 waitresses at mealtime? Sometimes overwhelmed! Apparently the franchisee is abusing the good name “ALEX” to make money!

Quality and portions size are decreasing but the prices have almost doubled. Schnitzel classic size is now in kindergarten league... 80 grams! Too bad because it used to be a great place to dine and enjoy.

Nice service but Don’t go for Asian food category. Asian food category was Kann Mann essen Kind of food. The Chicken Karaage Bowl is horrible. The rice is next level disgusting. Advice : please buy a rice cooker if your chef doesn’t know how to cook a rice properly. I’ve never eaten rice with such moisture on the outside and raw hard inner. Eww. Red Thai Curry taste was still ok, but the naan ….. it’s not a naan!! It’s just bread !!! Icecream was nice. Smoothies was ewww.

In itself an excellent place for brunch. The view is unbeatable and the food is really good. However, the service is a bit slow (perhaps a lack of staff on Sundays?) and not particularly cheerful. But overall recommended.

Portions are a bit smaller than usual, but they are a bit expensive. For example, my "bowl" was only a third full (see photo) - a flat plate would have sufficed. It's definitely delicious.

Fries totally over salted, Champion sauce way too sweet. Staff asks if everything was good, but doesn't respond when they say that the fries were too salty. Mayo 60 cents extra even though schnitzel costs over €11.

Der Kunde ist hier Bettler und nicht König. Vor einem Restaurantbesuch wollten wir gerne noch einen Cocktail auf der Dachterasse trinken. Beim betreten wurde uns schon mitgeteilt, daß man aus Personalmangel nur eine Tischreihe auf der Terrasse bedienen könne und diese schon besetzt sei, wir müßten daher drin Platz nehmen. Noch mit einem gewissen Verständnis sind wir dann an die Bar gegangen und hatten gehofft dort einen Cocktail bestellen zu können. Da lagen wir allerdings komplett falsch. Erst sagte man uns wir müßten die Bestellung bei einer Tischbedienung aufgeben, dann standen wir angeblich im Weg und nachdem wir uns auf die platzierten Stühle setzten wollten wäre dies wegen der hinter der Bar positionierten Waffeleisen plötzlich zu gefährlich gewesen. Statt nach einer Lösung zu suchen hat man uns immer nur gesagt was nicht geht. Während man mit uns diskutierte standen drei Leute hinter der Bar untätig herum. Wir haben dann die Lokalität verlassen und uns woanders einen Cocktail gegönnt. Wir werden definitiv nicht wiederkommen.

We reserved a table here so we could eat on the roof terrace when the weather was good. Unfortunately the waitresses don't let us go outside because it would be too much work for them. It's a shame because the roof terrace was actually the only reason for us to come here.

We went here for the all you can eat brunch on a Sunday. Since the weather was great, we sat outside. However, it takes a while for someone to take the order. The selection for breakfast was really great. From bread rolls to scrambled eggs and rolls to hearty things like broccoli, falafel, etc. There is something for everyone and everything tasted great.

June 13, 2024 I've been to Aleks more often now. The first time I thought, OK, it can happen. The second time, ok maybe I was a bit unlucky today, the third time, well, next time it will definitely be better and now the fourth time I have decided that I won't come here anymore. The ambience is actually nice, but when it's full it's very loud inside, so it's difficult to really relax and eat or drink. The staff always seemed very hectic and under a lot of stress. Once I waited 30 minutes for a cocktail I ordered, but unfortunately there was no excuse or accomodation. Prices are okay, although I was really disappointed with some portions for €17. The last time it was extremely busy and the staff seemed really overwhelmed. Drinks took a long time, food took even longer and then some of it arrived cold (schnitzel lukewarm on the outside, really still cold on the inside!) and burnt and very dry (chicken pieces see picture), as well as some of the pasta on the outside because it had cooled down on the edge with the plate " merged". I hope the criticism is received and something is done. Sales are not everything, because if you only think about it, at some point it will be completely missing.

I ordered a red velvet and a lactose free cappuccino, the service and atmosphere were perfect, but the cappuccino was with regular milk, there can always be a mistake, so I asked again when they served me the cappuccino and they assured me , that it is lactose free... Simply overrated for me. Some of the staff were quite unfriendly. You can only get a piece of cake from 12:00 p.m. because it is not served beforehand. I don't think the view is that great either. Maybe that's because I'm from Frankfurt.

Ate burgers and sweet potato fries. Price performance far too expensive. I think I had 15 to 20 fries in my small bowl and the burger was definitely too small for €15... Taste was ok

Unfortunately we were very disappointed! Despite making a reservation we didn't receive any food. According to the employee, the kitchen is too overloaded. An absolute no go when making a reservation.

MDear Alex Cafe Team, I would like to complain about my visit to your cafe on June 1st at 7:15 p.m. Despite a wait of 55 minutes, the two portions of pasta we ordered were not served. This was extremely disappointing and unacceptable. We have asked repeatedly about our orders but to no avail. Cheap and delicious breakfast buffet. There was everything your heart could desire for breakfast. We were there the day before and wanted to make a reservation. The answer was: We don't have to make a reservation, there will still be enough space. Today we wanted to have a leisurely breakfast, but then we only had an hour because everything was reserved... That was more than annoying.

Overall a nice place to meet up with friends and colleagues. It was busy as due to it being a warm day so tables were not all cleared for the next wave of people quickly. So that was understandable. Also walking to the bar you cross a carpark and public toilets so not a perfect journey, again all understandable as the building design cannot be changed.

There could be a bit more choice when it comes to food/dishes....
