The drinks and food are excellent. However, when the restaurant is busy, the noise level can get quite high.

We were here today with colleagues for Christmas brunch. The food selection is perfect and absolutely fantastic for the price. The buffet is always quickly replenished and the coffee is great value. Despite being busy, the staff are always polite and friendly. We always enjoy coming here, and it's also a great place to flirt 😉

This time I'm reviewing Alex at the Chemnitz City Hall. We had a cozy and delicious meal there yesterday before the show at 7:30 pm. We were lucky enough to get a table for two without a reservation. All the staff were very accommodating and friendly, especially right at the entrance. We didn't have to wait long for our order. The food we ordered (ugly burgers and chicken wraps) was delicious. And that's why it gets a full 5 stars.

We had a wonderful time, a fantastic employee, and delicious cake and waffles! However, one thing that was annoying was that you couldn't look up. There was dust, cobwebs, and dirt. That's why only 4 stars, even though this great shop truly deserves 5!

My wife and I had our first evening out yesterday, just the two of us without the kids. We decided to have dinner at Alex, followed by a movie. We hadn't been to Alex for this purpose in about 5-6 years. The ambiance and the genuinely friendly service are still excellent. However, we were only moderately satisfied with the food itself. To be clear, the taste was delicious. BUT: A quiche Lorraine for €12 is advertised as a main course, but the portion is tiny (about the diameter of a water bottle and 3 cm high... at best, an appetizer). Frankly, we found this outrageous. The schnitzel with fried potatoes and a fried egg was okay, but 5-6 years ago it was a highlight... a real plateful... absolutely satisfying. The only thing that helped was the apple strudel for dessert, although even that portion was quite small. In short: Unfortunately, Alex is no longer a suitable restaurant for a satisfying meal. It's well-suited for drinks, desserts, chatting, and meeting friends. Too bad...it used to be much better. We won't be back anytime soon.

When I asked how much the croissants cost, they told me they were free. However, I asked if there was a plate I could take a croissant from. They just told me I didn't have one, with an expression on my face like I was a homeless person asking for a piece of bread. Late lunch on September 10th – falafel bowl, and on September 11th – all-you-can-eat breakfast. Very tasty and varied menu. Excellent value for money. The staff was super friendly and attentive on both days.

Despite breakfast becoming much more expensive over the last two years, the quality and, above all, the quantity of the food on offer has deteriorated. We were there yesterday, and there was only one sausage platter instead of the usual two. The fried potatoes didn't taste as good as usual and were lukewarm. And otherwise, it's always the same old offerings, with no variety or surprises. The place is pretty run-down and needs a renovation; the chairs are stained, the tables are sticky, and the restrooms aren't up to scratch either. The staff is mostly friendly, though.

We were lucky and got a table for two for breakfast without a reservation. Upon request, we were given delicious gluten-free rolls (they were defrosted specially, which took a moment).

We went for Sunday brunch. The selection was very extensive and delicious. The items were constantly being refilled. The price was reasonable for us. The only thing I missed was a simple natural yogurt. We enjoyed ourselves and will definitely come back.

We visited the restaurant on July 4, 2025. We had made a reservation in advance, which proved to be a sensible idea. It was packed. We had a seat inside and could look out through the open windows onto the beer garden, market square, and town hall. The spot was even better than one outside. Very friendly, courteous, and attentive service. The food was varied according to the menu. We enjoyed it. Our expectations were met. We highly recommend the Alex. Thanks to the team.

Most depressing Caesar salad for 13€, literally just a small portion of salad and tomato, small pile of cheese, and cheap Caesar dressing. No croutons, no chicken, no garlic. Better off getting a salad from Subway

I've been there a few times. I have to say, the food is okay, but the quality has declined somewhat. A few weeks ago, I was there in the evening with some friends. It's always very pleasant here in the evenings, as all the staff are very relaxed and relaxed. Special mention goes to Jenni. Unfortunately, spontaneous breakfast isn't possible in Chemnitz. It's 8:30 a.m. on weekdays. The entire place is empty. When I asked if I could just sit anywhere with my companion, I was laughed at and told that everything was reserved except for one spot, right next to the restrooms. Thanks, I'll gladly spend my money elsewhere. By the way, when I said I didn't like that and would rather go to another restaurant, they didn't even say goodbye.

We reserved a table 2 hours before we went. When we arrived at Alex, no one noticed us, but luckily there were some free tables, so we were pushed together a bit. My friends' drinks were great, they tried different lemonades and they were all delicious. I had a large apple juice... Then we would have ordered food, everyone had something different. The food came pretty quickly and looked extremely tasty. All my friends also liked it really well, but my pasta was only lukewarm and it didn't taste so good anymore with the pesto because, in my opinion, something like that just has to be hot. Unfortunately, no one came to check whether we liked it, so I ate as much as I could. There were good portions that definitely fill you up. When our plates were cleared, we mentioned it, but there was no real reaction at first. We then wanted to pay and it was mentioned that my meal had been canceled, it actually didn't have to come to that because I ate most of it, but of course I'm still grateful. I then asked for an invoice because we wanted to split it between ourselves. When I took a closer look at the bill, I noticed that I paid almost €9 (€8.60) for my large apple juice and I think the menu said €6.40, but we didn't say anything else and then left. I hope that if there is a next time it will be better

Recently went to Alex for brunch with a friend. The waiter only brought us the first few drinks, after which we were at a loss for him. We sat there for over three hours. We weren't asked if we wanted anything else or if everything was okay. Our hand signals were ignored because no waiter looked in our direction. When we wanted to pay, we were mistaken for new guests and were told: "Just sit down somewhere." Thanks, but NEVER again!

Our granddaughter took us to this restaurant. The staff, all of them, were super friendly and always concerned about the well-being of the guests. The food was great, had wrap, tarte flambée and schnitzel. The selection of cakes was very inviting, but we were really very filling. The drinks with special requests were delicious. Toilets were clean, pleasant music was playing quietly. The tables were wiped down occasionally, but were still a bit sticky. The armchairs were comfortable, but not entirely clean either. Nevertheless, always happy and happy to recommend.

We had our table against a wall and when we looked around we discovered a lot of ants on the wall that came to us right up to the table. We had this problem years ago. It wasn't appetizing. And when we finished our brunch at 11 a.m., a waitress came to us and asked us if we wanted to pay now, even though the brunch lasted until 12 p.m. We somehow felt like we had been thrown out. "You don't eat anything anymore so you can pay and leave" even though there were still enough free seats at 11 a.m. Our next brunch will definitely not take place at Alex, as we were too annoyed about the two deficiencies.

Before I got the coffee, which you had to pay extra for, it took almost half an hour. The cocoa too. The selection used to be better and cheaper. For me, I have come to a conclusion. I'll never go there again. Every bakery around the corner is much better and cheaper. For just under 16 lattes per person, no one can eat that. And then you pay the price for the coffee and cocoa.
