Alaska Bar in Berlin

Delicious food, good service and nice decor. If you don't have anything to chat for a while, there is plenty of distraction on the walls.

I have been to Alaska bar a few times already and I have been enjoying the quality of the food there. Last night went back there with friends. Food was still good, however have to say I was disappointed by the service and the behaviour of some of the employees there. Apparently they were short on staff last night, however after having to wait for our patatas bravas for around 30 minutes , we were confronted by the rude behaviour of one of the staff giving us examples of how Germans and Spanish ppl are different!! I didn't find this comment appropriate and would rather have received a sympathetic apology! We were all there to have a good time and such unnecessary behaviour can simply ruin an otherwise nice night.

Very high quality food and drinks and super cozy atmosphere. If you are in the mood for tapas and drinks then Alaska Bar is definitely the place to go. Also very helpful and friendly staff.

Here you will find a great selection of vegan dishes, which you wouldn't expect at first glance. We had “cod” and “foi gras” which were super tasty. The service is top and characterized by warmth. The restaurant is also worth a visit for non-vegans!

Super cool location with great vegan food. Recommend the salmon bread. Negatively, the table could only be reserved for 2 hours on Saturday. We wanted to drink another bottle or two of the very good Rose. Then we did it somewhere else.

We loved the food, drinks, and décor. Despite the place being crowded, the seating was surprisingly comfortable. It was a bit challenging to get the servers’ attention since they were quite busy, but once we did, they were friendly and helpful. We also appreciated how welcoming both the staff and other customers were to our dog. Our only issue was the noise level—the atmosphere was charming and intimate, but the music, along with the loud conversations, made it overwhelmingly noisy.

Great atmosphere, super nice boss and the food was excellent. We had dinner there on our last evening. I would have liked to have been there the first evening and then come back every day. Simply great. See you next year

One of the most delicious vegan places I've been to in Berlin. Batatas bravas is a must, and I've really enjoyed the "salmon" toast and the churros. Also very friendly service and cosy interior <3

10/10! Each of the dishes we ordered was extremely tasty and although we were pretty full towards the end (ordered a little too much, oops :D), there was nothing left. The drinks were also great, had a wine and a mocktail. The price is right and the store is coolly decorated, there is a lot to discover :) and everything vegan, best!!

Great vegan selection, cozy atmosphere and great vibe! However, the price-performance ratio is not quite right. The food is good, but average, often too sweet (I usually love sweet-salty combinations) and you actually have to order at least three tapas per person to fill you up, which then ends up costing at least €25 + drinks . It's hardly worth it. The service is also rather mediocre: we had to wait quite a long time for our food and chase the bill. It was a great evening because of the great atmosphere, but we probably won't be back.

I had an unfortunate experience. This will be my only time coming to this place. While I understand that the bar is trendy and has a specific way of managing the space, I have two suggestions: 1) It would be better not to offer reservations, as this would save your clients and staff from an unpleasant exchange. 2) Alternatively, if reservations are offered, be very explicit about the waiting timeframe for people to arrive and clearly state your policy regarding groups allowed inside the bar. It's not fair to say it's okay and then complain to the person celebrating — there's no need to ruin someone's night. Also, being passive-aggressive makes your clients feel unwelcome. Despite everything, we did stay for a couple of hours but decided to go to another bar.

Worst service ever! These people are so arrogant, they make you feel bad because they have to serve you. Waited half an hour to order something, no one cares if you re hungry or not. When you complain, they tell you if you want you can leave, so rude! Also super expensive. I was there with some friends the other day and tbh it was a mistake. This place doesnt deserve to be famous. 👎🏼😒

Hip spot and always packed. I'm not sure where the hype comes from though, I think the food is nothing extraordinary but very expensive for what it is. Service is friendly and attentive and the interior is nicely decorated. I probably would not come back though simply because no matter if you are looking for something purely vegan or not, there are many other places in Berlin that I think offer better food.

I’ve been in Berlin for five days. I am vegetarian and my traveling companion is vegan. Berlin offers so much and we have experienced quite a number of vegan restaurants over these days. But this place really stood out. Besides the really lovely staff that worked hard to fit us in without a reservation, the food was incredible. We had the eggplant and tahini which was perfectly melt-in-your-mouth delicious. And the watermelon dish was very good. But we were blown away by the vegan foie gras and the vegan lox on toast. The pate was made from a cashew base and was smooth and rich and all the umami you could want. The lox was made from thinly sliced roasted carrots with dill and just a little bit of seaweed to help you remember the ocean. The crowd was happy and diverse. The staff was wonderful. I can’t say enough.

Great place with a lovely atmosphere and amazing food! We're inspired to recreate the vegan foie grass and the smoked salmon in particular! The staff, however, was very slow, bit distant and sometimes forgot requests; e.g. didn't follow up on taking an order after bringing the wine menu while it wasn't that busy.

The food was mediocre borderline bad. Waiters were not attentive at all. It felt like a failed attempt of “creative” dishes manufactured by a non-chef. The hype around this place is beyond my comprehension.

The food was really nice, but the service was extremely unpolite and hostile. We almost just cancelled our reservation because we felt so incredibly unwelcome. The guy who served us inside was friendly. Unfortunately we also had to wait very long for our drinks. The staff forgot one dish, which is fine and can happen, we ordered it again even saying we thought they might have forgot. When we got the bill, the dish was on there twice, we notified them of it, and they got a bit angry at us. But the woman doing the seating, I've never been treated this poorly by someone working in hospitality. Even though the food was good, would not go again.

A friend invited us to celebrate her birthday here. Unfortunately, when we arrived there were too many of us for the reservation, which I didn't know. As I tried to find a place for myself and my partner at the table, the Spanish waitress with long brown hair and glasses attacked me with a violent temper tantrum. I've never experienced anything like that, especially not in a public space. In the crowded restaurant she shouted at me with extreme aggression and volume. At first I thought maybe she was stressed, but she wouldn't stop screaming at me and kept screaming. I have never experienced such verbal assault. I was in shock and stood there at first and didn't do anything and actually thought she would give us a seat, which of course she didn't and instead ignored us and went to serve other guests. I then left the restaurant and had to cry. Something like this has never happened to me before and I have to digest this shock first. It would have been completely okay to point out to us that we were not allowed to take free chairs from other tables and also that there was no more space and unfortunately we couldn't get a table. It's understandable that you don't always remain polite under stress. I've been living in Berlin for 10 years and I'm used to unfriendly service and it doesn't bother me. However, nothing justifies the unbridled aggression that was thrown at me here. My friend tried to talk to the waitress afterwards, whereupon she made absurd comparisons to war zones without any context. You shouldn't let a person like that loose on people in a restaurant. Afterwards we all left the restaurant and celebrated our birthday somewhere else. The fact that we were a group of PoC puts the disproportionate nature of the attack in a particularly unpleasant light.

We reserved a table for eight since we could not reserve for more people and twelve people arrived, after the hostility of the waitress we had to leave. Shouting education lessons, seeing the waitress discussing the situation with all her colleagues, disqualifications, very bad manners. It was not good to reserve for eight and be more but the way they treated us is disproportionate, we ended up crying because of the waitress's screams. I had never seen customer treatment like this, they had the power to ruin the afternoon for the birthday girls and all their friends. We didn't manage to drink anything, shouts and disqualifications made us leave sad rather than angry. It is a mistake to have more people than expected but this treatment is not justified by anything, very uncomfortable. I DO NOT RECOMMEND IT.

Food is great. However, I simply addressed to a lady staff member that the toilet was out of hand wash, and in addition that the premises didn't provide toilet seats, and was responded with anger and,"this is Berlin" (having lived in Berlin for 8 years myself), before aggressively pouring dish soap into a drinking glass and slamming it on the wash basin. It made the rest of the evening awkward and still needing the loo. I have been to Alaska many times but I won't be returning until suitable toiletry conditions, and staff friendliness improves

Good food, terrible service. No toilet seats or hand soap. When I mentioned this to a female staff member, she argued with me saying "this is Berlin" (I've lived here for over 8 years and only seen this in Kneipe). This left me feeling very uneasy and ruined the rest of our evening.

Not your usual experience when you think of a bar, the guest and staff develop a quick rapport, friendly and dare I say a bit intimate. let's be honest, you can drink in the park, but that's not why you go here.

Food great, but one service person was extremely hostile, we felt not welcome but tolerated, not a nice environment to have a dinner with friends, such a shame because the it looks like it's supposed to be a place where people should come together. Unfortunately the staff lost that.

Went here today for the second time because the food was so good last time and it was really great again, however we were on the verge of leaving before we even sat down because of the very unfriendly service. The person responsible for the bookings was very unfriendly and almost aggressive and this did not change over the course of the dinner. Luckily we were served by someone else later which was friendly and the food was great, but we did not feel welcome at all. Such a shame and not sure if I would come back after this.

This is the best vegan restaurant I've been to in Berlin. The staff is multi-lingual (at least English, Spanish, and German that I know of). The food and drinks are delicious - get the Patatas Bravas while you're here. So good!

The food is good, but unfortunately we were treated very unkindly. One of the waiters started an argument and became aggressive and very loud for no reason. The boss defended him by saying that they were working a lot. As the conversation continued, she had to physically hold him back and even made fun of some of us. In addition, we were treated unkindly from the start and asked to reserve in advance next time, which we did and were therefore already seated by someone else. We also had to wait a long time for food and drinks and things were almost thrown on the table. It's also very cramped and loud in the store. I've never written a bad review, but I've honestly never encountered service like this.

The stuff was very not friendly, wother ignoring us or basically throwing cutlery on the table or not even looking at us and just nodding when we asked for the bill.

Tastiest vegan tapas in town! The service is excellent (our waitress could speak Spanish, Portuguese, German and English), and they even offered some natural treats for our dog. The vegan salmon toast, the patatas bravas, and the pimientos are a must. Come if you want to have a good time :)

Alaska Bar is truly incredible — might be one of (if not the best) meals I have ever had (as a vegan or otherwise)! It’s a very busy and vibrant place, so I think reserving a table ahead of time is the way to go. We got lucky with a walk in on a Wednesday evening. I don’t think you can go wrong with the dishes. The tortelloni XL, patatas bravas and the foie gras were just incredible. I’m not even a fan of smoked items but the smoked aubergine and smoked almond ricotta totally blew me away! My only regret is that we were too full to order dessert… Overall, an absolute must visit!

It was quite an experience to visit Alaska. It is a very cozy place in the charming and diverse Neukölln. Alaska serves tapas with creative imitations of fish dishes in particular. Among other things, I had baked peeled aubergine that was reminiscent of smoked fish. The service was top class and the atmosphere was excellent.

Underground. And to be fair, I will say that the patatas bravas were delicious. For everything else, the following applies: good photos for Instagram are more important than taste. The concept of the 2-hour time window doesn't work if you are no longer served 3/4 hours before it expires, but you are thrown out VERY punctually and harshly. Thank God, there are a number of vegan alternatives in Neukölln! Never again!

Unterirdisch. Und fairerweise erwähne ich, dass die patatas bravas lecker waren. Für alles andere gilt wohl eher: gute Fotos für Instagram sind wichtiger als Geschmack. Das Konzept des 2-Std Zeitfensters funktioniert nicht, wenn eine 3/4 Std. vor Ablauf dessen nicht mehr bedient, man aber SEHR pünktlich und barsch rausgeschmissen wird. Gott sei Dank, gibt es aber etliche vegane alternativen in Neukölln! Never again!

Sooo delicious, all vegan, great food to try!

I used to love this bar and celebrated several of my birthdays here. The owners who used to run the bar personally in the beginning were super sweet and the vegan tapas are so good and each time there is something new on the menu. Unfortunately, the bar is extremely crowded nowadays, especially on weekends, the staff seems completely overwhelmed with their tasks and some of them do not continue with the good vibes of the owners. I got a table on the terrace on a Friday night with a friend and we were continuously ignored by the waiters running in and out. I got all of my three drinks inside myself, as the waiters had no time to stop by our table. After getting our first round of drinks, we had to wait for about half an hour to place the order for the food. Before, I tried to get the attention of one of the waiters, waving and him and smiling - and he copied my waving, putting an annoyed face. Later on, I asked him if there was something wrong with me waving at him and how he preferred me to let him know that we were ready to order. He said he was only the runner and not there to take orders. It wasn't possible for me to see that, as he stood at other tables talking to the customers. I worked in gastronomy myself for eight years and of course some customers are unbearable, especially when they are arrogant. But I wasn't acting in an arrogant way, but I made a regular and friendly sign. What I know for sure is that making a mockery of customers is totally not acceptable, whether you're a waiter or a runner. I understand they were under stress, still he could have simply told me that he was not taking orders instead of aping me. The weird thing is that they always have abundant time to chat with their Spanish friends hanging around the bar. So please also take your time to talk to other customers in a friendly and respectful way. I like places because of their atmposphere. When they spread a negative atmosphere, I don't go there. That's why I will not return.

Wow. As a meat-eater, I was skeptical, but this place really blew me away. Great atmosphere, but the food was delicious and often hard to tell it wasn't meat. The fois gras texture was perfect and the salmon was incredible. Very impressed.

Good place to eat vegan food, they have an allergen menu which I thought was super important. The cocktails were super good, the service was impeccable and the atmosphere was super cozy. Highly recommended.

The tapas Spanish inspired food and vegan. All the items in the many were so rich in flavor. Nothing was repetitive. It is a popular place so service was a bit sad but the food quality was supreme.

Großartig, dass nun auch im ach so "voll entspannten" Neukölln jene Haltung Einzug gehalten hat, die dem Gast klarmacht, dass er hier nichts zu sagen, nur zu zahlen hat. Wer Essen bestellen kann, kann auch warten. Und dann aber bitte auf die Minute genau nach 2h den Platz räumen. Guten Appetit? Das nächste Mal woanders.

Unpretentious service and laid back atmosphere. A bit languid food meaning that it differed a lot between the different tapas chosen. The plates came on time and was well made, I specially loved the patatas bravas but not so much the spinach balls. The price was also really good taken that it was well made food. I’m definitely coming here again.

The food is fxcking amazing and was a delightful change from normal vegan fare. Service was lovely and atmosphere was lively and loud. It can be really tricky to make the reservation but try try try. HIGHLY recommend.

Unfortunately it’s definitely not as good anymore as it used to be. That the service really couldn’t be less interested in you was nothing new for me, although i have never really understood why letting people wait for 20min to order apparently is considered edgy and not just unfriendly. Up to my last visit I was always made happy with inventive and great food afterwards. This time was different though. The olives were super salty and not enjoyable. Worse, the „smoked“ salmon, my long time favorite, didn’t taste smoky at all and was also extremely salty, so bad that we didn’t finish it. Obviously nobody asks you how you liked the food - as i said, the service could not appear to be less interested. I left disappointed, even sad, and I won’t go again.

Comemos ciabatta, batatas bravas e de sobremesa o crema. Eu não gostei do ciabatta mas o restante estava bom, principalmente as batatas. Atendimento bom!

whimsical quirky pink vegan (spanish fusion) tapas restaurant. one of my fav vegan places in berlin. must have is the patatas bravas. and if you want something interesting you should go for the burned eggplant. you should book a table as it’s usually very full. i think their menu changes every season or so. oh and be aware, you and your clothes will smell a bit greasy when you’ve been there during their prime hours but it’s def worth it.

The food and drink was amazing, and it’s a nice spot. Took a while to queue and they weren’t v fast at moving people on (good thing if you’re enjoying your table but less so if you’re waiting in the queue, or even just waiting to order) and we didn’t realise your could reserve before we went. I guess best recommendation is to ring to reserve, because that’s not just possible but recommended. Also the patatas bravas and spinach dumplings are great and the churros are too heavy and overrated.

Don't come if you're celiac or gluten intolerant. They barely have options and aren't able to accommodate. Only Spanish restaurant I've been to where they're so inflexible :(

Food is great but service is not, they are overwhelmed and a bit rude, but the worst is the music -> way too loud! Is called a bar but is actually a restaurant and if the plan is to go with people, have a nice meal and chat, well it's just impossible.

This is going to be long, so the silver line is- bad service, average and greasy food. Our experience was pretty interesting over here I'd say- It started with the fact that once we arrived we were told they don't have a reservation under our name, even tho we did reserve a table a week ahead. This is something that might happen, we are humans after all, but instead of apologizing for making a mistake, they started arguing and blaming us for not making a reservation. We were basically asking to tell us once a table will be available inside because we didn't want to sit outside with all the smokers, but they continue to argue with us instead, one of the employee even laughed at us for saying we came especially with a cab to this place and two of the employees (I think one of them might be the owner) started to speak in Spanish in front of us and rolling their eyes. When we finally started to order, the service was so slow and it took forever to get our drinks and food. We asked the waitress to clean the dirty table and she swiped it with a dirty cloth. In terms of food, nothing special to write about, pretty greasy (my friend got a stomachache afterwards because of that) and basically average. The cocktails were nice. I would summarize that Berlin is a great city for vegans, there are so many great places with excellent food and service, so you shouldn't compromise on average food and very poor service (and this is backed up by their replies to bad reviews on Google, so you can give that a look and see for yourselves how bad they are with customers). I've attached the calls history just to show, yet again, that we did in fact booked a table. I would recommend the owner to actually read the bad reviews and learn how to improve instead of attacking everyone, and maybe even have a service management session.
