Das Essen war frisch, authentisch und hervorragend zubereitet.Das Personal war freundlich, aufmerksam und hat für eine angenehme Atmosphäre gesorgt. Das Restaurant ist gemütlich eingerichtet und eignet sich perfekt für ein entspanntes Essen mit Familie oder Freunden. Wir kommen gerne wieder und können Al Castello uneingeschränkt weiterempfehlen!

Die Pizza war recht gut, es dauerte etwas, bis ich ein zweites Getränk bestellen konnte. Der Service war aber freundlich.

Es wurde mir von Einheimischen empfohlen, und wir waren gestern dort zum Abendessen. Obwohl die Terrasse voll war, wurden wir schnell bedient und aßen wie in Italien. Ich kann es uneingeschränkt empfehlen.

Wir haben nach einem Ausflug ein italienisches Restaurant zum Abendessen gesucht und konnten hier auch kurzfristig einen Tisch reservieren. Die Atmosphäre und auch das Personal sind sehr freundlich und authentisch. Das Essen war sehr gut und die Portionen sehr reichlich. Hatten verschiedene Vorspeisen, Pizza und Pasta...alles super lecker 😋. Sehr gutes Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis.

Wir waren mit dem Essen grundsätzlich zufrieden nur die Bedienung und die Wartezeit ließen zu wünschen übrig. Wir waren eine Gruppe von 10 Pers. ins warteten über eine Stunde auf den Hauptgang, wobei zwei Bestellungen vergessen gingen und erst serviert wurden als der größte Teil schon fast fertig war mit essen. Keine Entschuldigungv oder Erklärung und auch keine Widergutmachung mit einem Gratis Espresso oder Dessert. Zweimal standen wir auf um Wasser nach zu bestellen und die Rechnung an zu fragen. Schade eigentlich war das Personal nett aber einfach unaufmerksam. Und es lag nicht am fehlenden Personal oder voller Gästebelegung. Wir gingen dann im "Laguna" noch Gelati essen und wurden sofort bedient und hören auch da essen können, was wir sicher nächstes Mal machen werden.

Glutenfreie Pizza und glutenfreie Nudeln sind auch auf der Speisekarte... und soooooo lecker

Sehr gutes, leckeres und insbesondere authentisches italiensches Essen, z.B. die selbstgemachte Pasta, tolles Bruschetta und hausgemachtes Tiramisu. Neben dem sehr guten Essen, ist die gemütliche Atmosphäre und das sehr nette Personal erwähnenswert. Der Chef ist ein absoluter Herzensmensch, ihm geht das Wohl der Gäste über alles. Hier fühlt man sich als Gast willkommen.

Richtig leckeres Essen 😍 wir haben riesige glück diese wunderschönen Restaurant gefunden zu haben. Wir waren mit 10 Leuten im Al Castello in Salem und sind wirklich mega zufrieden rausgegangen. Trotz vollem Laden und Stress waren alle Mitarbeiter super freundlich, aufmerksam und gut drauf. Das Ambiente ist sehr schön, die Teller sind toll angerichtet und die Speisekarte modern und abwechslungsreich. Das Essen war richtig lecker, man schmeckt einfach, dass mit frischen und echten Zutaten gearbeitet wird. Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder!

Heute war unser letzter Abend, da ich morgen zurück nach Italien fliege. Ich kann nur sagen, dass wir jedes Mal, obwohl das Restaurant voll war, wirklich gut gegessen haben. Der Service ist schnell und freundlich. Kurz gesagt: Genau wie meine hier lebenden Verwandten kann ich es wärmstens empfehlen. Ein großes Lob an den Koch, der eine erstklassige Carbonara zubereitet, wenn man die Variante ohne Sahne wählt!

Das Restaurant hat wirklich gutes Essen. Ich war schon zweimal dort. Die Spaghetti waren perfekt. Besonders die Panna Cotta war sehr lecker und nicht zu süß.

The ambiance was to my liking. We had reserved a table for four. We were greeted warmly and shown to our table. Our drink order was taken promptly and arrived shortly thereafter. We ordered two tagliatelle with shrimp and two lasagnas. The pasta dish was delicious. The lasagna, however, was not. It seemed to consist only of cheese, smothering the lasagna base and the meat sauce. A spoon was provided, but it was unnecessary as there was practically no sauce. We suggest the chef reconsider his recipe to maintain the authentic Italian flair. The service was good and attentive. The pizzas and dishes served at the other tables looked appealing, so we wouldn't rule out returning.

We were at Al Castello today under the new management. Everything was already great under the previous owner, and they've continued in exactly the same vein. Friendly staff, delicious food, very short wait times, and generous portions. We'll definitely be back. If anyone has anything to complain about, I really don't know what to say. Keep up the great work!

We recently visited Al Castello and were absolutely thrilled. From the appetizer to the dessert, everything was excellent, and the service was also very attentive. I highly recommend it to everyone, and we will definitely be back.

I love going to Italian restaurants because Italian cuisine always has something to offer that delights. And this time we weren't mistaken; we went to the Italian restaurant Al Castello for dinner. It's beautiful, the service is fantastic, and the food was a delight. I had the chance to try the calamari with a large salad. The preparation was incredibly good and it tasted delicious. I congratulate the chefs on their excellent taste, because that's what determines whether guests return. The service is also very attentive, which is very important to me. That's why my family and I will definitely visit this restaurant again. Thank you for the wonderful dinner and see you soon🫠🤗👋🤌

Visiting a heartfelt guest!!! We were completely thrilled with this fantastic restaurant! The friendly and welcoming nature of the team put us at ease from the moment we arrived. The service was attentive without being intrusive, and you immediately notice that the food here is truly passionate about its work. The cuisine is simply superb – every dish arrived fresh, lovingly prepared, and of outstanding quality. The value for money is absolutely spot on; we not only felt well-fed, but truly pampered. We therefore find it all the more difficult to understand how anyone could write anything negative here – we had the same dish as mentioned in a previous review and were more than satisfied. One thing is certain: We'd love to come back… A place you'll return to with joy!

After the meal, WE were hungry. The portions were very small. You had to hunt for the fish in the pasta dish, so little. But for that, it was far too expensive. Apparently, there's been a change of management.

I was invited by friends to this restaurant, and I must say it really surprised me, so much so that I returned! I had the pleasure of trying the Carbonara! A hearty and flavorful dish, prepared with great care. The pasta was cooked to perfection, the creamy sauce was velvety, and every ingredient was perfectly blended without overpowering the other flavors! The presentation was beautiful, with attention to detail and served with such elegance that it made you want to try it! Last but not least, the service was quick and organized, despite the restaurant being packed! The staff were smiling and welcoming! The owners are always very courteous and do their job with professionalism and, above all, passion!

This restaurant is highly recommended for anyone who appreciates authentic Italian cuisine. Four of us dined, and we all received our food at the same time. Cosmi is also a particularly funny server who always put a smile on our faces. The new owners are also truly warm people. All in all, a lovely Italian restaurant with delicious food.

It's a shame: after a change of ownership and chef, we are very disappointed and have removed this restaurant from our list. While everyone is very nice, the food is at best simple pizzeria quality. And ultimately, it's all about the food.

Five of us went there because we wanted to try the pizzeria based on the good reviews. Unfortunately, I have to agree with the previous reviews. We waited half an hour for drinks and another three-quarters of an hour for the food. The pasta dishes were good, but the pizzas either had a garlicky flavor or no flavor at all. The ingredients were just "thrown" onto the pizzas. The staff seemed overwhelmed and uncoordinated. There's potential, but it's not being utilized.

This is my first time at this restaurant, and I have to compliment you. We were greeted by the owner, Alessandro, with great courtesy. We hadn't booked and the place was packed, but they found us a table in five minutes. We had an Italian appetizer... all fresh and typical Italian products. I work in the food industry, and I can assure you the food was fantastic. The paccheri with swordfish and zucchini were fantastic. In the restaurant, you breathe in the Italian air and smell the typical aromas of Mediterranean cuisine. If you have the chance, don't miss this opportunity! Come to this restaurant, ask for Alessandro, and let him recommend you enjoy authentic Italian cuisine. Lastly, the prices are fair, and you can enjoy a good wine at a great price.

Top-notch service, top-notch ambiance ("real" Italian and not that Italian gimmick...), good to very good food; better quality than the previous owner... only the espresso didn't come with water or a biscuit, but the taste was excellent. The location is highly recommended. Addendum: Now they also serve biscuits with the espresso; the tiramisu is stunning (finally one with mascarpone, as it should be, and not just whipped cream), and the spaghetti carbonara is absolutely top-notch.

As an Italian, I had a great time, thanks in part to the owners' hospitality, who readily embraced the Italian language. Excellent cuisine for those who want to experience Italian flavors even outside of Italy.

Unfortunately, there's one less good restaurant in Salem. The food was okay, but the owner's arrogance was hard to beat. His service also leaves a lot to be desired. Definitely not comparable to the previous owner, who was always friendly and had excellent service staff. We won't be coming back.

The service and spaghetti marinara were top-notch, with freshly cooked mussels and seafood in a delicate, aromatic sauce.

I went there for lunch with my family on Sunday. I've never had such good carbonara in my life. We'll be back soon.

We've been enjoying our visit for over 10 years. Everything was perfect back then, from the waitress to the service. Unfortunately, we didn't know that the owner had changed. We had to wait a long time for drinks and the main course. After an hour of waiting, my son and I went to the counter and asked when the food would arrive. The owner called me back and told me to be patient. How dare I complain! We had to clear the starter plates ourselves! Drinks had been forgotten. My son went to the counter again and asked about it. He was immediately insulted by the Romanian employee, calling him "Vaffanculo!" We know very well what that means! It's a complete disgrace that guests are insulted. We certainly won't be coming again!

We've been patrons of this (formerly) best pizzeria in Salem for many years. Without knowing that the owner had changed, we immediately noticed that something had changed (unfortunately for the worse) when it came to service. When the restaurant is relatively busy, the food can take a bit longer, but we even experienced an unusually long wait for drinks. While credit cards had previously been accepted without any problems, they suddenly stopped working (they only accepted debit cards). I'm afraid we'll have to look for another regular pizzeria, WHAT A BAD PITY!!!

The vegetarian pizza was rather tasteless (perhaps it could be seasoned better or used more garlic; peppers and corn also add more flavor). The salad was served with ready-made dressing. Service was friendly.

This was our second visit to this restaurant in a long time, as we had fond memories of our first visit. However, things have changed for the worse: long wait times and mediocre food. Unfortunately, it's a far cry from the first visit.

With a heavy heart, I have to agree with the bad reviews. Since the old owner is no longer there, the food has deteriorated considerably. I was there again today with my wife, my son, and my mother. We are regulars. The last time we were there was in April this year for my wedding. Before I moved away from Salem, we even went there at least once a month. The carbonara has become really bad compared to before. I also think the portion is much too small for the price. In April, it was firstly cheaper and secondly larger and tasted much better. I always ate carbonara there because I always found it delicious, but today's was a real disappointment. As I said, the portion was much too small and much too expensive for the size. The small mixed salad with the homemade sauce used to be better. There used to be a lot more sauce on it, but now it's really stingy. The bread you always get with the salad used to be a thousand times better. Then to the waitress who served us. It was actually quite okay. I've had worse, but when I wanted to pay my bill, I told the waitress that I wanted to pay for the iced coffee in cash and the rest by card. The iced coffee costs €6.90 I gave her €7 and the waitress simply kept the 10 cents that I should have gotten back. That's just not acceptable. I mean, if you say it's true then fine, but I don't think it's okay to just keep it. It was only 10 cents, but if you have some decency you give it back to your guest. I waited a moment to see if she would realize that. Her reaction was simply that she looked at me and said, "Bye, have a nice evening," but it was as if she was thinking, "Now just get out of here and leave me alone, what more do you want from me?" This is just not acceptable. Make sure the old owners come back, otherwise I'm really pessimistic and everyone will go to the new pizzeria by the castle lake, and the al castello will unfortunately go under.

This Italian restaurant used to be one of my favorite places. Authentic food, friendly service, and a pleasant, family-friendly atmosphere. But since the change of ownership, everything has gone downhill. The food is mediocre at best, and the quality has declined significantly. The service is much worse: The waiter at the bar, in particular, is extremely rude and seems annoyed, as if guests were just a chore. Friendliness and attentiveness? None of that. It's a shame about what this restaurant once was. I definitely won't be coming back—and unfortunately, I can't recommend it anymore.

Our girls' group always enjoy coming here. It's very friendly and the food is great.

So, unfortunately, I can no longer recommend this pizzeria after the change of ownership! There were only two tables outside occupied, including us, and it took over an hour for our pizzas to arrive. What was the owner's response? "Sorry, but our staff needed to take a break and eat something first?" Why can't they do that beforehand when they're closed? The salad dressing was a ready-made sauce from the supermarket, totally sweet and inedible. The pizza was also rock hard, so the crusts were completely ruined, unfortunately...The taste was so-so; I've had much better!

Definitely, very good food, friendly service, almost like "la Mama" Update: May Unfortunately, the pizzas are no longer good, the dough has changed, only minimal toppings are used, and card payments no longer work after the change 😳☹️😥 Unfortunately, things have changed for the worse since the beginning of May. What a shame, a real shame, we always (!!) loved going there and were extremely satisfied. Hopefully, they'll change their minds again 😳🤔

Okay, that was an experience, but let's leave it up to you what kind. It started strong but then declined sharply. There were two of us dining together, and the vitello tonnato was very tasty. The salad della casa was OK. Large and varied with good ham. BUT the basic yogurt dressing was quite bland... not bad. What was bad was the seasonal pizza from the daily special with green asparagus and salmon. It was inedible and 75% of it was returned. When the waiter asked us if everything was okay, I said, "Well, it's okay, the pizza doesn't taste good." That scared our waiter away, and he never came to our table again. His colleague had to take the blame and offered us espresso or dessert on the house, but we politely declined. Anyway, in the end, we sat there for an hour while all the staff avoided taking our money even though they were supposed to be off work. I went in and asked if we could pay, and then they took pity on us and gave us the bill. The pizza misery we didn't eat was charged at 100%. Thanks for that, too bad. It could have been nice. Maybe next time...

This restaurant was recommended to us, and our friends were right. The pizza was delicious, although prepared differently than usual. We also saw what other guests were eating, and it looked good, too. The service was very friendly and attentive, AND they were Italian. It's so great to finally visit an Italian restaurant where the local language is spoken. I can also recommend this restaurant.

Unfortunately, it no longer has anything to do with the Al Castello run by its previous owners. We ate there today and unfortunately had to wait two hours for our food. None of the actually friendly service staff apologized for it. It wasn't so busy that it was immediately obvious to us that it would take longer. The pasta was okay, the pizza was good. Unfortunately, the food didn't arrive at the same time, and we had to point out several times that the food was still missing. We then had to say we wanted to pay four times, and the whole process took another 30 minutes because it simply became very complicated. Instead of issuing a total bill and adding it up, four slips of paper were written by hand, which created the bills. Pizza to go, yes, but unfortunately, eating there is no longer available.

The staff is very friendly, the pizzas are very large and delicious. Overall, a highly recommended restaurant. Reasonable value for money.

We were greeted by very friendly service, and the courtyard is simply inviting. Relax and linger. The pizzas, with their thin and fluffy crusts, are delicious, and the Cassata Siciliana ice cream is simply heavenly. If I were to vacation here again, I would eat here again anytime.

Really good Italian. Outside or inside, no problem. Large groups, special requests, everything is possible. The setting could be better, but it's OK. The restaurant, however, is nicely decorated. We always enjoy going here, especially in large groups with family. Prices are also reasonable.

We were there with 6 people and had a very tasty antipasti plate and extremely delicious food. From pizza to daily specials and special requests, everything was possible and very tasty. We liked it so much that we stayed past closing time. And the staff, including the boss, were more than friendly. Thank you for the great service and the lovely evening. Would love to come back
