Delicious food from top products. Recommended!!!

After five years in Cochem, we decided to go to the Akropolis again. Just like before, we were not disappointed in the slightest. The tzatziki starter is enough for two people. The main course is so generous that you'll be looking forward to the ouzo, which is on the house. The service is very friendly and attentive. All in all, I highly recommend this restaurant if you're in Cochem. Conclusion... The food tastes really great 5/5 Value for money 5/5 Service very attentive and friendly 5/5 Atmosphere and location 5/5 We will definitely be back.

Very generous portions, and the meat quality was good. Unfortunately, we didn't like the atmosphere. It was very cramped, loud, and stuffy. However, the value for money was okay.

As a solo cyclist, I was looking for a restaurant for dinner in Cochem. It's hard to find a restaurant in Cochem where you won't get ripped off as a tourist... I chose the Greek restaurant Akropolis because the reviews were mostly positive, although there were also a few negative ones. As I climbed the stairs to the restaurant shortly after 6:00 PM on a Tuesday evening, the noise level alone made it clear that the place was busy. Although there were several tables available, I was seated at a table for two, right next to the steps leading down to the restroom, which I declined. I was then allowed to sit—albeit reluctantly—at a table farther away, which was not directly next to the stairs leading down to the restroom. I ordered, as I often do at Greek restaurants, a portion of tzatziki and a full gyro. The tzatziki, which arrived relatively quickly, was as bland as it was flavorless: There wasn't much taste of grated cucumber or garlic, and topping it off, a desolate slice of cucumber with its skin, surrounded by olive oil, lay on the plate. An olive or a chili pepper wasn't served with it, as is more common at other Greek restaurants. After about 30 minutes, the gyro plate arrived. A huge portion of steakhouse fries and the aforementioned gyro meat. The steakhouse fries were neither crispy nor rather floury on the inside. The gyro was flavorless, coarsely cut, and I didn't like it at all. I suspect that the gyro couldn't possibly have come off the rotisserie like that, or they make so many portions that the gyro doesn't have time to become crispy. On top of that, the portion was huge, so not only I, but all the tables around me, left at least half of the dish on their plates. At the end, they offered me some ouzo, but I politely declined. Personally, I wouldn't visit the restaurant again.

Our family recently went to this truly amazing Greek restaurant – the atmosphere there was simply fantastic! Soft Greek music played in the background, which was totally pleasant and didn't disturb the conversation at all. The server was really quick and super attentive. And the food? Absolutely delicious! Everything was fresh and made with lots of love. The only catch: Lots of people want to eat there, so it's best to make a reservation in advance. Luckily, we were lucky – the host was incredibly welcoming and managed to find us a table. We can highly recommend it – we'll definitely be back the next time we visit Cochem!

Six of us dined at Akropolis for lunch. We have nothing but good things to say. All the dishes we ordered were delicious. The service was friendly. The value for money is absolutely reasonable. We highly recommend this restaurant.

Went there one evening with a good friend during a weekend visit to Cochem. We were quite hungry after a hike and were overwhelmed by the portion size, including a side salad. The taste was excellent, and the service was friendly and quick. The ambiance was also good, although it was very warm and stuffy that day. The ouzo at the end rounded off the visit nicely.

The food was delicious. The garlic bread starter and the main course of lamb skewers were both very good.

Was really craving Greek food so I grabbed the gyro platter and calamari here. Calamari was obviously the frozen bag kind and fried in older oil... The gyro meat and the fench fries were served in large portions. I've had better Mediterranean fare all over the place and in Greece, as well. Probably good for locals but....

The food was delicious, and we didn't have to wait long. However, we were lucky to get a table that wasn't reserved. The only thing that could have been a bit better was the service; the drinks we ordered never arrived.

We had the grilled pepperoni for starters, which are highly recommended. The chicken pan was also very tasty, but unfortunately, some of the gyro was very greasy and some pieces were very dry. The staff were attentive and friendly.

While spending a week in Cochem, I was looking to mix things up one evening and decided to try Akropolis, a Greek restaurant with decent reviews. Unfortunately, it turned out to be just an average experience—nothing terrible, but certainly nothing to write home about. I started with the calamari, which was clearly the cheap, frozen kind you’d expect from a supermarket bag. It was bland and uninspired. For the main, I had the chicken kebab plate. It seemed reasonably fresh, but the flavor was lacking. It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t particularly good either—it simply met the basic need for food. This isn’t a place I’d return to unless I had no other options. It wasn’t awful, but it definitely wasn’t a memorable Greek dining experience. I think too often people give inflated ratings just to be polite, but honest feedback is how restaurants improve. Akropolis has potential, but right now it feels like it’s just coasting.

We reserved a table in advance and had a very pleasant evening. Greek cuisine with a difference. It was delicious and we were very satisfied. The staff was very friendly, and I think the value for money is very good. We highly recommend the restaurant...

Nice atmosphere, efficient service and huge portion of food but unfortunately everything was served with pommes (and small salad) with no other options. As I favor chicken, I ordered Saloniki teller but felt disappointed to find out that it included only a very tiny dry piece of chicken though plenty of gyros and a pork skewer. Luckily Weizen was icecold - just perfect after a hot day.

We love Greek cuisine and we really liked the food at Akropolis. The calamari melted in my mouth, the gyros was perfect for me. My husband said that the kefta was a bit too dry, but overall it was a big plus. Clean, nice, tasty and hospitable. I recommend

Friendly service and super tasty gyros. The landlord even pointed out the lunch menu - smaller portions. Thank you! The smaller quantity absolutely filled us up. If we come to Cochem again, we would be happy to come back.

Hatten schon 3 Monate im Voraus für den 1. Mai 2025 , 18:30Uhr reserviert für 8 Personen. Reservierung wurde uns auch per Mail bestätigt. Die Begrüßung war sehr freundlich. Wir wurden zum Tisch gebracht, gaben die Bestellungen auf, bekamen die Getränke und ab dann passierte das wann man nicht erwartet hat, man wurde einfach ignoriert. Wir warteten geduldig auf unsere Vorspeise, aber es tat sich nichts. Mittlerweile hatten alle Gäste die nach uns kamen bereits ihr Hauptgericht. Nun fragten wir höflich nach warum alle die nach uns gekommen sind schon ihre Hauptspeise haben und wir noch nicht einmal die Vorspeise? Es waren mittlerweile 1,5 Std. vergangen. Die pampige Antwort vom Service, das ist eben so es geht nach Protokoll ( was immer das bedeuten soll) Nach fast 2 Stunden hatten wir endlich unser Essen. Das Essen hatte leider keine besonders gute Qualität. Das Fleisch war noch recht zähe, die Leber zum Teil sehr trocken und kaum zum schneiden, Pommes sehr blass, der Reis zu weich und das Überbackene sehr fettig, mit wenig Fleisch und im Käse ertränkt, leider. Zudem war fast alles sehr fad oder versalzen. Wir lieben griechisches Essen, aber das was wir serviert bekamen war einfach von schlechter Qualität. Zur Krönung durften wir nicht einmal unsere Rechnungen am Tisch begleichen, sondern mussten vor an den Tresen. Zum Schluss wurde dann behauptet wir hätten nicht reserviert, Frechheit man muss sich als Gast nicht beleidigen lassen. Somit können wir dieses Lokal nicht weiterempfehlen .

Exquisite Greek food! 2 large Lambskewers from the arts! Gyros with tzaziki also nice tasty meat, not overly spiced or too salty. Large portions. Salad in advance also great, nice and fresh. Benedicter Weissbier on tap is recommended. Prices are also great, especially in this tourist location. Outside it doesn't seem special, but inside it is neat and cozy. Not noisy. The appetizers and main course were delicious. Very large portions. Fresh, filling, I will definitely go back there. The service was wonderful and I have very fond memories of this restaurant.

Very bad service. Despite making a reservation, we had to wait an hour and a half for our food. All around us the customers were served immediately and we sat and didn't even get the starter. When we asked why we weren't being served, we only received extremely unfriendly answers. The food was also very mixed. A lot of things were fried for too long and were therefore very tough and dry. Unfortunately, this experience spoiled the whole evening for us, so I would advise against eating there.

After an initial friendly welcome and despite making a reservation in advance, we were very disappointed! After we sat down at the table we were initially ignored by the staff. All guests around us, whether small or larger groups, were served directly. After we politely asked if we could order the drinks, they were accepted quite reluctantly. We were only able to order the food itself after asking several times and receiving very unfriendly answers from the service staff, which then came after about 1 1/2 hours. The quality was anything but good, e.g. totally mushy rice and the liver was fried so hard that you could hardly cut it. All in all a very disappointing dinner. Unfortunately, from our point of view, not recommended!

The service, quick and friendly. The food, however, was cold, the fries were sticky and the food we ordered was delivered incorrectly three times. The ouzo at the end was the best part of the visit.

Delicious food in a beautiful restaurant

The Acropolis absolutely deserves its stars. The number of visitors is therefore above average and reservations are advisable during the main food supply times. The employees are attentive and courteous and the boss also finds time to exchange a word with the guests. The side salads are not only crisp and fresh but also visually appealing. The liver shows a good relationship with the trusted butcher. The Metaxa sauce is also made with love. Ouzo? But of course! Even if we don't come to this corner very often, the Acropolis is definitely worth a recommendation.

We came across this Greek restaurant by chance because many other restaurants close relatively early in the evening in spring. But not this one. Very tasty food, good portions, nice service, cozy atmosphere. We felt very comfortable.

Four of us were there on Easter Monday. All dishes - king prawns, Appolon plate, Greek salad, suvlaki mix - were freshly prepared, plentiful and really tasty. Service was nice and accommodating. We'd love to come back!

Hidden gem! If you walk past it you would not easily step inside, but once you go up the stairs it is a great restaurant, very friendly staff and very good food.

I ate at the Akropolis for the first time today. I had read the reviews in advance and I wasn't disappointed. Had the Saloniki plate and two Greek Mythos beers. The beer tasted very good and the food was great. The meat was juicy, the fries were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside and the salad was also delicious. The portion was sufficient, no, rather generous for a good eater like me. At the end I really had to fight 😉 (looks smaller in the photo). Finally, an ouzo on the house. At the time of this review, there are still two days in Cochem, and the chances are good that I will eat there again 👍😊

Very good service even though we arrived at the last hour of the lunch shift, they have a menu in Spanish which is appreciated, everything is very delicious and abundant, we recommend Gyros Metaxa (note that it is abundant) and in days the Gulas and Chicken soup were cold. The waiters were very friendly, it reminded us a lot of our vacation in Greece.

We were 4 people and we have never had such a bad meal! We all became very ill from what little we tasted

Service was good but the meat was tough and the tadzici was not included with the order. Have to order separately. Oezo was gratis at the end of the meal but not served cold. Salad was good but no garnish on the pla tes (pepperoni, olives or tomatoes) No typical Greek food as I've enjoyed at other restaurants in the past. Two stars.

Went on a day trip to Cochem and ended up here by chance. It was packed. But we still got a table for 2 people. The menu offers a large selection. We decided on a Bifteki and an Apollon plate. The portions are generous. We were thrilled with the quality and the taste. The service, even though the restaurant was very full, was very friendly. We always had a friendly word to say and also asked if everything was OK. But never intrusive. All in all a successful evening in a very nice and good restaurant.

If you're really hungry, this is the place to go. I had the Apollo plate. What I missed was a bit of tzatziki on the plate. The service was friendly and fast. We'll be happy to come back.

I ordered souvlaki for pickup today, and the meat was as tender as I've rarely seen it, top-notch! It came with fries, cucumber, tomato, onions, and salad, really good. During the 2-3 minute wait, I was also offered an ouzo, which I gratefully accepted and enjoyed, amazing! I highly recommend this restaurant.

After a strenuous day, a reward at the Greek restaurant was in order. The friendliness and wait time were absolutely acceptable. The main course, "gyros with fries/tzatziki," was not to our liking at all. Tasteless, served lukewarm, the plate overloaded with a huge portion of "meat." One dish was half-eaten, the other returned in its entirety. They asked if we were satisfied. But that didn't detract from the total bill. Too bad! No 10% tip, we rarely do that—today it's more than appropriate...that subsequently, a justified criticism is not accepted, and less-than-stellar reviews are responded to with lies and reversals of the facts confirms our opinion. By the way, the ouzo and coffee that were rejected were politely declined by their guests. Please only post reviews with 4 stars or more.

Akropolis Cochem – Lots of food, friendly service, but with small weaknesses We were warmly welcomed at the Acropolis in Cochem. As you would expect from Greeks, the portions were very generous - we had the Ermis plate and the Apollon plate, both of which tasted really good. The waiter was friendly, but seemed a bit confused or dodgy - that didn't cause any major problems, but it was noticeable. Unfortunately, the food ended up being quite greasy - there was even a small pool of fat on the plate, which somewhat spoiled the overall impression. Another point of criticism: A glass that was served to us was badly scratched and looked a bit outdated - you can expect a little more from a restaurant in a tourist location. The prices are in keeping with tourism – not cheap, but not exorbitant either. Overall, a typical Greek restaurant with nice service, plenty of food, but also some details that could be improved.

The food was very tasty and very filling. You will definitely be full. Personally, I prefer the gyros to be crispy, but that's definitely a matter of taste. Reservations are strongly recommended on Saturday.

Highly recommended. The food was very good, with very generous portions. The service was very attentive. For example, we once ordered a farmer's salad but without feta. We were immediately asked if the feta cheese could be brought to the table for others to share. It arrived immediately, beautifully presented like an appetizer... All four people in our group considered this Greek restaurant an absolute gem!

We ate here on December 30, 24 because of the good reviews. Great service, nice restaurant, but we would prefer to give 0 stars for the food! With the best will in the world, we can't understand all the good reviews, the food came after just under 10 minutes and was simply the purest greasy landscape of fat, even the plate itself was greasy! The rice tasted like it had just been cooked in vegetable broth, the fries had no taste. Unfortunately a 6 in terms of taste and quality.

I liked the atmosphere and service. The waiter was very kind and friendly to the guests. They serve very tasty wine. But I wasn't very impressed with the food. We ordered 4 different dishes, but they all brought us almost the same thing...

Unfortunately not for tourists. We were there with 12 people, so we had a high bill. We were neither offered an ouzo nor were we given a proper farewell. One family was charged an exorbitant amount of ketchup and mayo; for the other family, the bill was rounded up to the full euro at €0.90. The food was tasty. Well... we wouldn't go here again!

We received a friendly welcome and had a delicious lunch here. The only minor point of criticism is that the German guests were asked if everything was to their liking, and we were not. But otherwise highly recommended!
