Akropolis in Cochem

We stumbled upon this Greek restaurant by chance, as many other restaurants close relatively early in the evenings in spring. This one, however, was different. Delicious food, generous portions, friendly service, and a cozy atmosphere. We felt very comfortable.

I ate at Akropolis for the first time today. I had read the reviews beforehand, and I wasn't disappointed. I had the Saloniki plate and two Greek Mythos beers. The beer tasted very good, and the food was excellent. The meat was juicy, the fries were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, and the salad was delicious too. The portion was sufficient—or rather, generous—for a big eater like me. At the end, I really had to fight for it 😉 (it looks smaller in the photo). To finish off, I had two more days in Cochem at the time of this review, and chances are I'll eat there again 👍😊

Four of us were there on Easter Monday. All the dishes—king prawns, Apollon plate, Greek salad, suvaki mix—were freshly prepared, plentiful, and truly delicious. The service was friendly and attentive. We'd love to come back!

Hidden gem! If you walk past it you would not easily step inside, but once you go up the stairs it is a great restaurant, very friendly staff and very good food.

Very good service even though we arrived at the last hour of the lunch shift, they have a menu in Spanish which is appreciated, everything is very delicious and abundant, we recommend Gyros Metaxa (note that it is abundant) and in days the Gulas and Chicken soup were cold. The waiters were very friendly, it reminded us a lot of our vacation in Greece.

Thank you very much for a great and delicious evening. Everything was just right here. The meat is super juicy and tasty. Unfortunately, there is currently nothing regional in Cochem that goes well beyond tourist food. This Greek gets it all out again. Mega! We'll be back. 🙂

Greek food has never been so bad, it was impossible to eat cold fries, meat was so salty and souvlaki was so dry, it was impossible to get rid of it Eat there once and never again

Food was delicious and the whole family loved the food here. Pricy but the portions matched the price more than that taste dominated the price. Going back definitely!

Service was good but the meat was tough and the tadzici was not included with the order. Have to order separately. Oezo was gratis at the end of the meal but not served cold. Salad was good but no garnish on the pla tes (pepperoni, olives or tomatoes) No typical Greek food as I've enjoyed at other restaurants in the past. Two stars.

Went on a day trip to Cochem and ended up here by chance. It was packed. But we still got a table for 2 people. The menu offers a large selection. We decided on a Bifteki and an Apollon plate. The portions are generous. We were thrilled with the quality and the taste. The service, even though the restaurant was very full, was very friendly. We always had a friendly word to say and also asked if everything was OK. But never intrusive. All in all a successful evening in a very nice and good restaurant.

If you're really hungry, this is the place to go. I had the Apollo plate. What I missed was a bit of tzatziki on the plate. The service was friendly and fast. We'll be happy to come back.

I ordered souvlaki for pickup today, and the meat was as tender as I've rarely seen it, top-notch! It came with fries, cucumber, tomato, onions, and salad, really good. During the 2-3 minute wait, I was also offered an ouzo, which I gratefully accepted and enjoyed, amazing! I highly recommend this restaurant.

After a strenuous day, a reward at the Greek restaurant was in order. The friendliness and wait time were absolutely acceptable. The main course, "gyros with fries/tzatziki," was not to our liking at all. Tasteless, served lukewarm, the plate overloaded with a huge portion of "meat." One dish was half-eaten, the other returned in its entirety. They asked if we were satisfied. But that didn't detract from the total bill. Too bad! No 10% tip, we rarely do that—today it's more than appropriate...that subsequently, a justified criticism is not accepted, and less-than-stellar reviews are responded to with lies and reversals of the facts confirms our opinion. By the way, the ouzo and coffee that were rejected were politely declined by their guests. Please only post reviews with 4 stars or more.

Akropolis Cochem – Lots of food, friendly service, but with small weaknesses We were warmly welcomed at the Acropolis in Cochem. As you would expect from Greeks, the portions were very generous - we had the Ermis plate and the Apollon plate, both of which tasted really good. The waiter was friendly, but seemed a bit confused or dodgy - that didn't cause any major problems, but it was noticeable. Unfortunately, the food ended up being quite greasy - there was even a small pool of fat on the plate, which somewhat spoiled the overall impression. Another point of criticism: A glass that was served to us was badly scratched and looked a bit outdated - you can expect a little more from a restaurant in a tourist location. The prices are in keeping with tourism – not cheap, but not exorbitant either. Overall, a typical Greek restaurant with nice service, plenty of food, but also some details that could be improved.

The food was very tasty and very filling. You will definitely be full. Personally, I prefer the gyros to be crispy, but that's definitely a matter of taste. Reservations are strongly recommended on Saturday.

Highly recommended. The food was very good, with very generous portions. The service was very attentive. For example, we once ordered a farmer's salad but without feta. We were immediately asked if the feta cheese could be brought to the table for others to share. It arrived immediately, beautifully presented like an appetizer... All four people in our group considered this Greek restaurant an absolute gem!

It was our first time eating there. The staff was very friendly and attentive, and everything was super clean. We opted for lunch. The food arrived very quickly and was excellent. We'll eat there again on our next visit to Cochem.

We ate here on December 30, 24 because of the good reviews. Great service, nice restaurant, but we would prefer to give 0 stars for the food! With the best will in the world, we can't understand all the good reviews, the food came after just under 10 minutes and was simply the purest greasy landscape of fat, even the plate itself was greasy! The rice tasted like it had just been cooked in vegetable broth, the fries had no taste. Unfortunately a 6 in terms of taste and quality.

I liked the atmosphere and service. The waiter was very kind and friendly to the guests. They serve very tasty wine. But I wasn't very impressed with the food. We ordered 4 different dishes, but they all brought us almost the same thing...

Unfortunately not for tourists. We were there with 12 people, so we had a high bill. We were neither offered an ouzo nor were we given a proper farewell. One family was charged an exorbitant amount of ketchup and mayo; for the other family, the bill was rounded up to the full euro at €0.90. The food was tasty. Well... we wouldn't go here again!

Actually a very nice restaurant on the first floor. But I found it very loud there when there were a lot of people there. Food was ok. But it didn't blow me away. Everything happened very quickly. We'd finish eating in half an hour. With starter. Plates were always taken quickly from the table, even though not all of them were ready. Personally, I don't think it's that great. Wow, wow, wow! We called spontaneously and got a table. The two waitresses were very accommodating and friendly. The portions are incredibly large and the taste is really amazing! Great recommendation!

I had the Apollon plate (I hope I kept the correct name 🤔)...huge portion...hot...fresh and very good fries...portion of tzatziki had to be ordered separately (seems to be normal now). But then it was huge...8 people ate...everyone was very, very satisfied...absolute recommendation👍

Wanted to eat something in the restaurant at 5:30 p.m. There was no table for 2 people. We were supposed to come back at 8 p.m. So we had to walk around hungry for 3 hours. I think you should keep a table free for people without a reservation. I would have liked to test the food, but since we're going home tomorrow, that's out of the question

A Greek restaurant that you quickly pass by if you don't look closely. There was no one at the door to guide you in, luckily! Unfortunately, in Cochem it has become really annoying that you are picked on. Not here... And that's a good thing because this restaurant is not flooded with tourists and has retained its natural ambience. The food was really good and filling. Unfortunately too much for us. Service was friendly but not exaggerated. The food was brought out quickly, both at lunchtime and in the evening. You can dine there politely and quickly or just linger, you can tell that the restaurant is not designed for tourists, but for locals who want to spend their lunch break there or have a cozy evening together. Conclusion A cozy Greek restaurant in a tourist town that has remained for locals.

Despite the booming business and full tables on a Saturday evening at the end of November, a place was quickly prepared for the two of us. The employees were quick and courteous. The quality of the main course was great (Apollo plate) and the quantity was more than plentiful. Only the salad was a little confusing. There were pieces of pepper from the jar (pickled in pickles), coleslaw in its own broth, yoghurt dressing and, at the bottom, a dollop of tzatziki. If all of this had been served side by side - great. But everything on top of each other was just confusing. But I would go back at any time, that was really complaining on a high level. You won't find dishes like grilled octupus on the menu.

Also wir können nicht klagen. Das Essen war sehr gut und mehr als reichlich. Der Kellner höflich und aufmerksam. Schade, dass wir dieses Lokal erst kurz vor unserer Abreise entdeckt haben. Wir wären sicher noch ein zweites Mal wiedergekommen.

We have never tasted such tender and delicious beef liver. The ambience is really nice, especially because it is not so bright but very romantic and cozy. We'll definitely be back.

The welcome was friendly and we were served quickly without long waiting times. The restaurant is also beautifully decorated. However, the food was shockingly bad. The chicken soup tasted just as bland as canned soup with tough chicken, the zucchini starter had nothing to do with the original Greek dish and the vegetables and salmon were almost certainly frozen. The menu promised salmon on a bed of vegetables, but what turned out to be a piece of over-fried salmon with a tomato, cucumber and onion garnish on the side. Furthermore, none of the staff asked if we wanted anything else to drink, so we sat there without a drink for 3/4 of the time. Maybe it's also worth mentioning that I had stomach problems afterwards. There's no way I'm coming back here.

Temperatur war unangenehm warm - Speisekarte: online ist nicht identisch mit der die uns im Restaurant angeboten wurde, zumal die Gerichte alle im Durchschnitt 2 Euro teuerer sind und vor allem in einer sehr abgespeckten Version. - Service: sehr freundlich - Vorspeise: Champignons in Knoblauch: sehr gut, Zucchini und Aubergine frittiert: auch gut, Tsatziki: Geschmacklich hat es nach mit wenig Salz und Gurke gewürztem Magerquark geschmeckt, der mit etwas Milch verrührt wurde. - Hauptspeise: Bifteki mit Schafkäse, Gyros, 1 Spieß mit Schweinefleisch: sehr trocken, Gyros sehr fett und Bifteki fast ungewürzt, wie das andere Fleisch auch. Die Pommes waren nicht knusprig und mit einem undefinierbaren Kräutersalz gewürzt, welches man wieder nicht rausschmecken konnte, allerdings waren die Kräuter auf den Pommes sichtbar. Alles in allem kulinarisch gesehen eine Katastrophe für uns.

We had the best meal of our four week trip here! The food and service were excellent with precise detail to presentation. The Chicken skewers, perfectly seasoned and grilled, were served with fries. The incredible side salad and amazing tzatziki sauce complemented the meal. Reservations are required due to the small restaurant and huge influx of tourists! Don’t miss out - we saw many people turned away.

We wanted something a bit different than schnitzel so after a bit of googling found Akropolis. Being a big greek fan it was the perfect choice. Upstairs out of the way the restaurant was nice and modern. We didn't book and the restaurant was busy but a table was found for us. We both plumped for the Lamb Souvlaki with chips and salad and it was very nice, on par with anything I've had in Corfu An Ouzo shot was supplied on the house which was greatly received, presented in lovely shot sized pint jugs

The service is extremely friendly and the restaurant looks cozy. We got a table by the window. When I noticed that it was very cold there, the owner closed the window. Well solved! Unfortunately, the food was less to our taste. The soup arrived almost cold. After a comment about this, this was quickly corrected. A little later we received new, hot soup and the basket of bread that had previously been forgotten. The main course was not bad, but could have been better. Large portions, but very salty and greasy. The gyros was not as spicy as we are used to. The fat made the food so rich that we only finished half of it.

Ended up here on the recommendation of our hotel. The 4 of us had a nice meal, even our children had enough to eat from their small menu! Friendly service and a delicious Greek specialty to finish

The restaurant is located on the second floor and is difficult to find from the outside. Honestly the food is not tasty. The portions are large, but at the expense of potatoes. The meat was dry, mayonnaise and ketchup were in bags. The salad that is served at the beginning - tzatziki was discovered at the end, when the leaves had already been eaten. The champignons are also not tasty. Apparently the central location does something to the chef's ability to cook. The staff is kind. Everything is ok here. I wouldn't go a second time, so I don't recommend it. My review upset the Owner... for some reason he perceived it as if it were a personal matter, and not as a place where you can look to make yourself even better. Well... I didn't want to offend him, this is just my opinion of a person who is spoiled by delicious food. And those who know the restaurant really don’t need it (in my opinion).

We had dinner together with the children during the autumn holidays. It is a warm, cozy atmosphere. Service is very friendly and makes you feel very welcome. We were with two children aged 5 and 8, and when ordering we also received good advice about the food and portions. Staff always came to ask if everything was okay and made us feel welcome! Food was very tasty, portions were large! We didn't have to wait long for food! Plus point because I was very hungry! Price is friendly!

Greek Restaurant Akropolis, located at Linius Straße 5 in the center of the tourist town of Cochem on the Mosel River. A 10-minute walk from the station in Cochem. This is a traditional Greek restaurant, not only the dishes on the menu but also the decor are Greek. We had dinner here on October 12, 2024, when there was a market in the center of Cochem that was well attended, which was also noticeable in the restaurant where almost all tables were occupied around half past five. But the service was quick and friendly and we didn't have to wait too long for our starter of fried zucchini with tzatziki, which tasted delicious and is highly recommended. A little later the ordered gyros dish arrived, served with fries and a bowl of Greek salad and mayonnaise. Ordered a second round of drinks, but we had to say thank you for dessert, the starter and main course were more than enough for us, we did not leave feeling hungry, despite our Moselsteig walking stage from Senheim to Cochem (22 kilometers). If you are in Cochem in the future and you want delicious Greek food, then this is definitely recommended in our opinion.

People who hadn't booked a table were ignored for a long time and then sent away, even though there were still free tables. There were a total of 3 waiters there, one of whom was very friendly, the other two were grumpy and even unfriendly. The food was definitely already prepared because it was on the table quickly. Unfortunately dry and bland. I wouldn't recommend the restaurant and wouldn't go there myself.

We were very excited! The restaurant was very full and we didn't have a reservation, but we got a table quickly. The food was fantastic, portions were plentiful and prices were absolutely reasonable. The atmosphere is great and the staff are very friendly and accommodating. Only the toilets are a bit strange: very chic, modern and clean, but the frosted glass doors of the individual toilet cubicles give too much insight for our opinion, because yes, you can see when someone is in there. 🤔
