I found it hard to fault this restaurant even when the bill came up. At first you think its pricy for small plates but as you go along and try all the dishes on the menu, you realise why. The work that has gone into creating each one is clear to see, and I have come away with incredible memories. From the fermented potatoe waffle to the cauliflower... yep cauliflower but not just any old cauliflour. I couldn't begin to tell you how they made it taste so good! The service was perfect as was the atmosphere and surroundings. We paid just over 100 euros per person which included 2 bottles of wine and it was worth every cent. I have been lucky enough to have eaten in some of the best restaurants in the world and this one would not look out of place in that list.

I was absolutely blown away by the experience at Aerde. The food, service, and wine were all impeccable. The plating style was refreshingly simple yet perfectly executed, keeping the focus where it belongs—on the taste, which was easily a 10 out of 10. The venison tartare was hands-down the best I’ve ever had, and I’m saying that as someone who orders tartare almost every chance I get. The kitchen here has a unique creative intelligence; each dish was crafted with an exceptional level of harmony. Surprising ingredients made appearances in ways I never would have expected, but they worked perfectly with every bite. I couldn’t decide what to order because everything on the menu sounded amazing, so I asked the server to surprise me with dishes and wine pairings. Every dish was introduced with detailed explanations, and the stories behind each wine were fascinating, making the pairings feel incredibly thoughtful and compatible. In short, this was an unforgettable culinary experience with outstanding service. The staff here have a passion for their craft that comes across in every aspect of the meal. Aerde is truly a gem. Thank you for this unique experience!

We were warmly welcomed. We were well advised about the food and wine. Unfortunately everything is in English, so one or two "descriptions" were not understood correctly, even though we both work with English-speaking customers. The exact components of the meal were told to us in German by the boss (cook?) after the service. We would have wished it was the other way around. In our opinion, the “wow” feeling is not true, but the price-performance ratio is not correct. But as we all know, tastes are different. The wine recommendations were awesome. Not exactly cheap but as I said... awesome! The location could be a little brighter because we like to see what's on the plate. Furthermore, there was a very bad indoor climate after the restaurant was fully occupied. I would also be interested in which clientele should be addressed. Fine dining? Or just a la carte? All in all a “good”. Good luck.

We are experienced in fine dining and were disappointed. The portions are very small, even for fine dining, and we found the service to be arrogant and self-absorbed. When we arrived at the restaurant we were noticed, but only after a while were we shown to our table when we asked. We found the obvious approach and explanation in English to be inappropriate when accompanied by visibly older people. Upon request, an explanation was given in German that the whole group could understand. No consideration was given to any allergies we had registered in advance, so one person could only eat two courses. Overall, in our opinion, the price is not justified.

Our visit to the aerde restaurant was definitely something special. The stylishly minimalist restaurant at the locomotive depot impressed with its ambience. The service impressed with personality and great attention. The food was exciting, especially with the emphasis on fermented ingredients. However, some dishes were missing that certain something or a surprising highlight. We were less enthusiastic about our placement: we had the choice between bar stools or a large 8-seater table around the corner. At first the corner seat seemed fine, but when a group of six joined us we felt uncomfortable. It was just uncomfortable to suddenly be sitting at a table with a group of strangers, disrupting the intimacy we wanted on our anniversary. Even though we hadn't explicitly requested a table for two beforehand, we found it inappropriate to combine such different reservations. In addition, the strong smell of food, which persistently lingered in our clothes and was still noticeable even after two days, was very annoying. We expect better ventilation from a restaurant in this price range. Overall it was still a positive experience, even if there were a few points that marred the experience.

The Aerde team would like a review. I thought for a long time whether I should comply with the request, as my review will certainly turn out differently than I hoped. But since the request also includes the desire for constructive criticism, here are my impressions. Aerde was recommended to me and since I regularly try out new restaurants in Berlin, it was high on my list - even for a special occasion. To be fair: the food was good and the taste was quite surprising! However, that's what I expect from a restaurant of this level. The service was friendly as long as we were willing to play the “small portions for a lot of money - wow - how extraordinary!” game. The team celebrates itself and its supposed exclusivity, but real guest loyalty does not come from repeatedly asking whether everything is okay and you are doing well - that requires a little more than fake friendliness. When it comes to the price-performance ratio, Aerde goes far beyond the mark. This starts with the drinks – €8 for a bottle of water, €14 for a 0.1 glass of wine – and continues through the dishes. A slice of bread with butter for €6 and the high-priced mini portions are more reminiscent of appetizers than full meals. I'm an avid restaurant-goer, including Michelin-starred restaurants, but rarely have I felt like I got so little value for my money as I did here. When it became clear to the service that we would not be ordering dessert or additional drinks, we were subtly given the feeling that our stay was no longer desired. The table was cleared quickly, even the cutlery shelves disappeared. Overall, the lightness that makes a successful restaurant experience was missing. In which service, ambience and food form a harmonious unit. Where it's fun to linger, you feel welcome - regardless of whether you order up and down the menu or not and you can spend an unforgettable evening. The evening at Aerde will be unforgettable, but not in a good way.

Very hard review to write. On one hand I got served one of the most stunning dishes I’ve ever seen, on the other hand I feel the experience overall was a bit inconsistent. Food-wise, there are some high highs and average dishes (chicken dish and desserts). The interior design is probably one of the best I’ve seen in the city! I have feedback on the seating. Our party of five, with a reservation, was seated at a small table, with one person uncomfortably placed near the restroom. Although staff tried to help, this should’ve been planned better. The sharing menu also felt imbalanced for five people, making it hard to share with the table setup. Perhaps limiting reservations to 2 or 4 people could improve this. That said, I’m still curious to return, maybe during a different season, as the staff suggested.

A cool place in Kreuzberg, but on the paving stones you would like larger tables outside and more comfortable chairs, inside alternatively small, but very cozy. The staff is very nice, but for us old "West Berliners" they couldn't speak English but German, especially since they are very Good dishes need to be explained due to various fermentations. A successful evening if there was an espresso at the end...

Although expectations were high, our visit to Aerde exceeded them. The atmosphere, service and drinks were already of a very high standard, but the food surpassed the other aspects. Both the quality of the ingredients used and the composition of the individual dishes were completely convincing. The highlight of my accompaniment was the earthy taste of the venison tartare with fermented trout. I was particularly impressed by the variety of flavors of the salmon trout with apricot and chili. Of course there is a strong focus on working with fermented products, but you know that beforehand. All in all a very successful evening, we can only recommend Aerde to everyone.

Super expensive tasteless food with a bit cocky service. It hasn’t even been 24 hours and I don’t remember a single dish, however I do remember the incredibly steep prices. Spent over 100 euros pp and we all left hungry. The server also smelled like cigarettes - bit weird for a fine dining place. Would not go back.

intimate feel-good setting. Friendly, approachable support throughout the evening and through the menu. Wine recommendations (natural wines) for the dishes were exciting and sometimes wonderfully unusual. Nothing wild or surprising about the dishes - it was calm and consistently good (recommendation: cauliflower). Great for me: the würztraminer (Skilled, Le Schlouk) with the trout and the Greek sparkling natural wine with the dessert. All in all, a lovely evening thanks to the cozy ambience and the casual attitude in the service; brings joy!

Had a wonderful date night! Great service, super nice space and mood, and fantastic food! We had almost all of the dishes on the menu and each of them was delicious. Can’t pick a favorite, but the tartar was amazing, the wines I tried were great and the kombucha (also made by them) was 10/10 Really enjoyed the food and the time there, would recommend for anyone looking for a proper “culinary experience” without breaking the bank

Oh what an experience I had! I celeberated my birthdaydinner at aerde yesterday and was not only mindblown by the venue (very clean and warm designwise - the sunset light makes it magical) but also by the food and the service! Hanna is very warmhearted and always had an eye for our table, also allowing me to try a new drink she just tried out. The food is - hands down - incredible. We tried every dish and there was not a single one that wasn't superb. Can't wait to try the new seasonal menu.

I don't even know what I liked best here. The food was creative, fresh, delicious and, on top of that, regional. The service? I immediately felt like a regular! Great food, original wines, self-loving service, close cooperation. The kitchen is great - without any ifs and buts, surprises in many courses and is great in terms of price-performance. A round of applause to the balcony floor where the cooking takes place. Great! Unfortunately, the service is only good when it has decided to be good - the focus is not on the guest but on the service itself: the table is not ready at the time of reservation, there is a relaxed smoke in between and the first wine (advice) comes after the first course and selected guests receive close support others do not. But you seem very self-satisfied. The tables are cramped, relaxed eating is different... Overall, they didn't make it easy for us to come back - a shame, because the food was great!

There were three of us. From the outside, the small restaurant is inconspicuously embedded in the residential complex on Lokdepot Street. Inside it is modern and simply furnished, with the kitchen located upstairs above the guests. Overall, the furnishings make a harmonious impression. You will be welcomed by a very friendly English-speaking waitress and then competently served. The dishes on offer are limited to a small but also fine selection. Each dish is different from the other and tastes very good. It’s not “zero eight fifties kitchen”! You can simply taste that the kitchen enjoys cooking unusual and good dishes. The price-performance ratio is completely OK. A place you can go to again and again.

The location itself has a wonderful cozy and chic atmosphere at the same time. We were there during sundowner, which created a great light. The owner and service are very attentive and unbelievably friendly—they take time for you and your questions. We felt very welcomed. Taste-wise, the food was delicious, but I expected a bit more sophistication for the price range. Nothing really surprised me, but perhaps that's not the concept of this restaurant. Technically, the food was well-prepared, and the drinks are excellent. Our favorites were the turnip, venison tartar, and the pastry with poppies. The lilac spritz was also very good. After 8 savory dishes and 2 desserts, there was still room for more, but we were not hungry anymore. There are a few small things to improve: - I would have loved to have small plates for each person from the beginning (sometimes things were hard to share). - The holes in the center of the small tables are impractical.

I have no words to express how delightful and special our experience was!! The food was Devine and tasteful, crafted local ingredients. The wine, specially chosen based on our dishes. We couldn’t resist and ordered the entire menu. Our experience wouldn’t have been the same without the owner( unfortunately I don’t remember his name), super nice chap, and Hanah, they made the difference about our experience. Special shout to the chef and his assistants and the business initiative for working with seasoned/local products. It was around €140 per person, totally worth it, bear in mind we have different special wine bottles. I’m definitely coming back and make sure to spread the word around my friends.

I know a lot has been written here about the wonderful food and the unpretentious but very attentive service, and yet it's all true. Sitting outside we could see the kitchen staff working non-stop, whipping up one perfect dish after another, while the two service staff looked after all the guests in a calm manner that seemed almost effortless, with a smile and attentiveness that you don't often come across in Berlin. I was lucky enough to witness the sunset during my stroll to the restaurant, perfectly complementing the vibes of my evening at aerde. The concept is incredibly appealing, with extensive preparations involved despite the minimalistic presentation of the dishes. Though they appear simple, they are anything but; how the flavours complemented each other gave you a hint of the time-consuming work behind them. The regional aspect added to its attractiveness and my soul longing for sustainability really felt at peace. I had the vegetarian menu and as much as I wasn't feeling like I missed out on anything, glimpses of trays adorned with perfectly cooked meat and fish made me a tad nostalgic for my carnivorous days, I have to be honest. Besides the food, the ambiance really made me feel like I was in a (chef's) living room and/or pantry - in the best way possible. I must also mention the hearty welcome I got when I visited; Justus is an amazing host with a beautiful energy and mood that's really contagious. While respecting personal space (as I shielded myself with my book), he still managed to bring his burning passion for what he does to light. I personally also loved that he was singing along with the songs of the playlist the whole time. (He probably picked them himself, which makes it a bit easier, but not any less impressive or positive. 😃) Overall, I highly recommend aerde to anyone who wants to feel down to earth connecting with it - in the most luxurious yet unpretentious way possible.

Hey people, A few weeks ago I was in this small, relatively new restaurant in Schöneberg, which I was very impressed with, which is why I would definitely recommend it! You are greeted by an atmosphere that is almost like a living room, with a large, square wooden table in the middle of the room, which invites several parties to sit at it. On the wall there is a shelf with a wide variety of fermented and other home-made products, which unfold their “magic” in the regional menu. What is unusual is the kitchen, which is located on the 2nd floor in a small gallery --> you don't see it often. But enough of that, the friendly service explained the menu to us quite quickly, using the sharing plates concept, and we decided to just try out all the courses and share them (highly recommended, sharing concepts are great!). The food was delivered quickly and the attentive service always took the time to answer even the smallest questions about the courses --> Big praise, you felt like you were in very good hands 🙏. Now let's get to the menu... It was simply amazing!! With each of your dishes you can feel the craftsmanship and the ideas behind keeping everything as regional as possible. The corridors remain exciting throughout and you always look forward to seeing what will be carried down the small wooden stairs next. Be it the regional style ramen, the almost melting pike perch in the brown butter or the game goulash which was really so perfectly balanced and simply delicious!! In summary, I can only say you are doing a great job, dear team at the AERDE restaurant, and I hope you stay that way, because we had a lot of fun and will definitely be back ✌️ P.S. Lovely little place outside of the usual dining hotspots of Berlin. Food is amazing, wines were delectable. The marriage of flavours and texture, spot on! Many surprises in the dishes and we like how fermented and/or pickled elements were used to elevate the dishes. Definitely will be back when the menu changes. The place has a somewhat laid back atmosphere, which makes dining a lot less stressful. If there is something to point out, it would be to improve on the ventilation.

Absolutely incredible experience. I stumbled upon this restaurant on my own while in Berlin for a work trip. Hands down the best fine dining I’ve experienced in this city, but still very relaxed and unpretentious. Every dish perfectly prepared, thoughtfully crafted and all the ingredients sourced locally. They were even kind enough to work with me on identifying gluten free options. Lovely natural wines, beautiful atmosphere. Great date spot or place for a special evening out.

I’ve been here a couple of times and have been consistently blown away. The space is so smart, lovely, comfortable, and unique. The service is incredibly welcoming and they really make you feel like you’re being cared for. But the true stand-out is the food. The flavors are innovative and absolutely exceptional. I think this is a highly underrated restaurant in Berlin that more people should go to.

Outstanding restaurant with pretty unique concept. I really enjoyed the evening and every course in it. Combining the flavors of fermentation with locally sourced and seasonal ingredients creates a truly unique set of dishes, which I did not taste in any other restaurant so far. The wine pairing was perfect and added an additional dimension for every course, without overpowering any of the ingredients. The only thing I can think of that could be improved would be the light levels, since I felt it was a bit too dark to really appreciate the compositions on the plates.

We witnessed an incredible evening of flavours and hospitality from Justus and his dedicated team of chefs. Starting with an immaculate sourdough bread served with sweet caramelized butter and offset with a melody of fermented pumpkin, pepper and cauliflower pieces, this was closely followed by an outsanding pairing of fennel and tarragon and the menu then continued to roll through sublime & subtle shifts to end up with a dessert of cucumber, & popped buckwheat with a cooling joghurt. The wines were expertly selected & brought to the table by Justus who spent time to sit with us & give background to the choices and concepts behind this strictly locally sourced menu. Special mention to the young head chef who created magic behind the scenes but really this is project is a combined & collected labour of love & if Aerde continues like this, their first Michelin star will not be far away...

Wir hatten einen großartigen Abend im aerde. Der Service war aufmerksam, persönlich, unkompliziert und informiert. Das Essen hat Kopf und Bauch bedient – jeder Gang sehr abwechslungsreich und höchst lecker (Lieblingsgänge: Der Barsch und die Gelbe Beete). Die Atmosphäre ist außergewöhnlich und sehr intim, aber nichts für Leute mit Platzangst oder Sozialphobie :-)

Oasis in Berlin. 🪨🍃 Excellent service and amazing cuisine. After taking seats, the clerk handed us warm hand towels that exuded the aroma of rosemary, providing a soothing and relaxing experience. We were then served a special wild herb tea at the perfect drinking temperature. Before sipping, the fragrances of grass and wood gently wafted into our noses. Upon tasting the tea, we detected a delicate hint of strawberry with a subtle sweetness. Afterwards, the chef presented us with herbal potatoes, which were warm and infused with a plant aroma. Following that, we were served our six courses. I particularly enjoyed the celery, char, and cauliflower.

Wieder hatten wieder einmal einen wunderbaren Abend in der aerde. Restaurantleiterin Hillevi war für unsere 8 Personen-Gruppe perfekte Gastgeberin - immer zugewandt und auskunftsfreudig. Das Menü entwickelt sich seit der Eröffnung stetig auf sehr hohem und individuellem Niveau weiter - für Vegetarier:innen und Fleischfreund:innen. Die Weinbegleitung ist absolut stimmig und hat bei jedem Besuch mindestens eine schöne Überraschung parat. Gestern hat die aerde 2 neue Fans aus München gewonnen und wir Berliner kommen natürlich auch immer wieder gerne. Chapeau und weiter so!

Der Abend im aerde war von Anfang an hervorragend. Angefangen bei der überaus freundlichen, zuvorkommenden und dennoch entspannten Begrüßung des Services sowie den tollen Erläuterungen zu der Weinbegleitung und den Gängen. Man kann sich hier bei diesem Team nur wohlfühlen! Dass die drei Köche ihr Konzept durchdacht haben und in Perfektion umsetzen, zeigt das Präsentieren von eher wenigen Zutaten auf den Tellern, welche jede für sich herausragend zubereitet wurden. Jeder Gang war ein Genuss pur! Es war ein rundum phänomenales Erlebnis!

Our dinner at aerde was magical. The host Hannes greeted us like old friends and kept us comfortable, fed and entertained throughout the evening. The food and wine were incredible. Standouts for me were the juicy North Sea oysters elevated with fir oil (ask them how this is done), the haybutter served with subtly steaming bread, the young white wine recommended to us out of a wine menu sorted by soil, and the dessert, an unusual but surprisingly balanced combination of strawberries, sunflower seeds and black garlic. The restaurant is fittingly located in the red Schöneberg Lokdepot building and it’s ambiance is serene and added to experience. A truly memorable meal.

An excellent new opening! Very unpretentious and friendly service, serving a fantastic six course menu that shows how much flavor can be drawn out of the fields and forests around us. Perfect for vegetarians as well, as meat and fish are only an optional choice for 2 courses. I'm excited to see where this place is headed and can recommend it wholeheartedly.

Wir fühlten uns vom jungen Service uneingeschränkt herzlichst willkommen. Auf besondere Wünsche wurde umgehend eingegangen. Das Restaurant hat in der Abendsonne eine ganz besondere Atmosphäre, die Outdoorplätze industriellen Charme. Besonders gut gefiel uns der Spargel-Gang und das Dessert (Sonnenblumenparfait, Gel von schwarzem Knoblauch, Erdbeere). Der junge Koch nahm sich die Zeit, mir als interessierter Hobby-Köchin noch Tips zu geben. Kleine Schwierigkeiten bzgl. Serviertemperaturen grooven sich sicherlich bei diesem Team sehr schnell ein. Wir werden Euch im Freundeskreis empfehlen!

Absolutely stunning and memorable experience. This is not the kind of overpriced white table clothes chi chi tam tam dinner and you should not go if this is what you're looking for. Justus and his team dedicate their energy to incredibly well thought through sourcing from local 🌳🌳 and gardens, lakes and neighbors. They don't use pepper - because it doesn't grow nearby. But you can be sure that they found stunning other ingredients - "alternatives" would be an understatement. The menu is a mix of classic new hip ingredients that you may have seen in similar places (black garlic mousse anyone?✌️) but the combos have really surprised me: sunflower seed parfait topped with black garlic on strawberry 🤯. The atmosphere is super relaxing and it does something smoothing to you as a guest: you sit back, relax and enjoy the food in a different way. The team acts as one, with respect, humbleness and love. This is what makes you feel home. Outside when you watch the sun go down or inside when you're granted one of the bar seats. You'll be in the middle of the action and see what's happening. Levi's wine pairings were truly on point. Interesting ones from Slovakia and Hungary as well as classics from Austria. Overall 5* and couldn't be recommended enough.

That was an amazing experience. Definitely one of my TOP 5 in Berlin. We loved the food a lot, the wine choice is excellent. Next time I would take the Weinbegleitung. Das Essen war hervorragend, der Service nett. Leider war die Weinbegleitung mengenmäßig eher spärlich und bestand ausschließlich aus den offen angebotenen Weinen, dies noch zu einem höheren Preis als wenn wir von der Karte gewählt hätten. Die Zahlung erfolgte mit Zwischenrechnung.

Wir waren schon vom ‘aerdigen’ Interior beeindruckt - die persönliche Begrüssung mit Handshake gab dem Einstieg eine persönliche Note. Der Service war während des gesamten Abends perfekt, zuvorkommend und niemals aufdringlich. Wir entschieden uns für das Gänge-Menü. Jeder Gang war eine Entdeckungsreise mit frischen Zutaten und innovativer Kreationen. Wahrlich ein Gaumenschmaus der besonderen Art oder besser beschrieben eine kulinarische Entdeckungsreise.
