Actually, one of my favorite cafes, and if you get the right waitress, like Leo, it's still great. Unfortunately, some of the employees here are often in a pretty bad mood and incredibly unfriendly. Today, I was deeply shocked that both employees (I think one of them was the manager) were working with obvious cold/illness symptoms. There was constant sniffling, coughing, and nose-blowing. A seemingly regular customer wished them both a speedy recovery, and BOTH DIDN'T WASH THEIR HANDS BEFORE HANDLING FOOD AND DRINKS!! The manager touched the top rim of the coffee cups immediately after coughing. So often, people weren't coughing into their elbows, but just coughing out. So gross!! I understand that many members of the team are absent due to illness, especially in the fall, but PLEASE MAINTAIN HYGIENE. As if nothing has been learned from the pandemic. I understand the frustration when half the team is missing and things get stressful, but taking it out on the guests is simply not acceptable. Management needs to plan better and hire more people.

DINING WITH FLAIR I recently returned with a few friends after a break of several years and was pleasantly surprised. The academy still exudes the artistic charm of a bohemian café. The food – the vegetarian and vegan dishes are highly recommended – and drinks were delicious, the service was friendly, and my group enjoyed themselves. What more could you want?

It is super inviting, the food is great. David is a great guy and you can see he likes his job. I feel comfortable and would love to come back.

We had a wonderful evening at the Academy for a class reunion. It used to be known as Bernd's Lädle. The garden area is super cozy, and the service was fast, unfussy, and friendly. The value for money was spot on.

This morning, we spontaneously stopped by for a hearty breakfast. We were greeted by extremely friendly young waiters. A feel-good atmosphere immediately... Extensive breakfast menu, we chose the Edvard Munch... Strong, aromatic coffee, daily newspaper, quick small talk with neighboring tables, an extravagant, gallery-like ambiance. Again, the service and communication on this Sunday were outstanding. All the food and drinks we ordered later, the seasonal pumpkin variations, and the tarte flambée were top-notch. Outside the large windows, the hustle and bustle of Charlottenplatz. Inside: enjoyment, comfort, and the "lightness of being."

Without this restaurant, Stuttgart would be deprived of a special place. As soon as you enter the dining room, the unique and totally crazy design catches your eye. Anyone who still knows and appreciates the now-closed Grand Cafe Planie will be in good hands at the Academy of Fine Arts. I think the two establishments used to be married, as they have so many similarities (design, menu, etc.). In addition to the decor, the food is also unusual here. While the portions have unfortunately shrunk in recent years despite rising prices, the food still tastes excellent. Prices are already in the upper range. Reservations are recommended.

Food absolutely great, delicious, special

Never experienced anything like this before!!! On August 12, 2025, I invited my guests from the USA to my otherwise favorite restaurant, Akademie. It was around noon, and we were looking for a table in the garden. A woman (unfortunately, I can't call her a lady) was serving outside. She assigned us a seat, and I asked for another one, which seemed to be reserved. I said, half-jokingly, that we didn't really like the one offered. Her response, quite seriously and in a very unfriendly tone, was, "If you don't like it, you can move on!" We could hardly believe what we heard, so we decided to take the seat offered. A man with a large dog sat down next to us. The dog looked friendly and was curious about us. We ordered our food. When the woman arrived with the bowls of soup, the dog stretched out its head and almost stuck its snout in the soup; in any case, it snorted at it. That could be bad for your health. I automatically said to the waitress, "Watch out!" Then she started shouting loudly and almost insultingly. She angrily wanted to set up a different table for us, even though we had stayed at the same table. I and my gesture could hardly believe it. Neither we nor she had ever experienced anything like this in the entire world. This is a huge disappointment for me, and I will certainly never sit in the academy again if I see this woman working there. Our years of experience with all the other waiters there were very good, even above average. Which makes the disappointment all the greater. On the receipt: she served: aca jour. If this can give the owner a hint, that would be great. I reserve the right to complain directly to the shop owner.

Super nice location... ...but why does the poor girl have to do the service alone? Everything's really good...except for the endless wait times. But that's not the service's fault...one person can't do everything inside and outside at lunchtime. What a shame...

Ricardo, you're the real reason you stay. So attentive, warm, and charming – you immediately feel seen, heard, and cared for. Service level: world-class. Humanly: even better. And then the boss. As soon as I walked through the door, I was immediately recognized – this mixture of coolness and warmth was honestly my personal plot twist of the day. I'm not sure yet if it was the coffee, the playlist, or that look... but I'm in love. Food, drinks, atmosphere? All top-notch. But what really remains is the feeling of being welcome. And you don't get that everywhere. Thank you for this place. I'll be back. Maybe tomorrow. Or in an hour. Who knows.

Hidden insider tip with a really nice vibe We became aware of the Academy of Fine Arts through NeoTaste - and would probably never have come across this great spot otherwise! The owners are super warm and ensure a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. We had tarte flambée (very tasty!) and the Black Hugo – highly recommended. Particularly nice: the quiet garden terrace in the back area, a real feel-good place with its own charm. Definitely an insider tip in Stuttgart!

Unfortunately, taking away food is not recommended as we got everything packed in aluminum foil, especially fish in remoulade sauce, which of course stuck to the aluminum foil

Ich kann es dort leider nicht empfehlen. Der Kuchen in der Auslage war alt und sah nach Fertigprodukt aus. Das Essen war viel zu teuer für das was man bekommt. Der Service wirkte chaotisch und unsicher.

Das Lokal ist immer noch gemütlich schick eingerichtet. Aber man bleibt am Tisch kleben. Der Service ist unaufmerksam bis gelangweilt, schade um die schöne Location früher mal Bernds Ländle

Nice café right on Charlottenplatz. If you absolutely don't want to be spoken to, then that's fine. We had to beg for something to drink or eat.

I'm positively impressed by this restaurant. Not only the food but also the service is great. The location is unique. I definitely recommend it and it's definitely worth a visit!

Unfortunately, my guests didn't get what was stated in the offer for breakfast. So the rather ordinary breakfast was completely overpriced. The service was also overloaded and couldn't take care of my guests' requests for drinks. There was an apology in response to my complaint email, but I was no longer contacted despite repeated requests. They probably thought I would just resign myself. I'm really disappointed with the location, which is actually very beautiful. Next time I will celebrate somewhere else.

The Academy of Fine Arts is really a beautiful establishment in Stuttgart. We were there for lunch today. In terms of taste, I have to say it was good, but the price wasn't right in my opinion. Just under 19 euros for five huge ravioli is very steep even for Stuttgart.

I loved the ambience, it's a super perfect place, the decoration is great, the lady who serves is very helpful, friendly and attentive, the food is delicious, everything is as it should be, we were very pleased.

Very nice atmosphere and very nice decor. Unfortunately, the staff is not convincing at all, very haphazard and you don't feel well looked after. There is no way to reorder anything because the staff is busy with something all the time (it doesn't necessarily have to be the people's fault, maybe more people should just be hired so as not to overload anyone). Reservation was accepted only to be told upon arrival that short-term reservations are difficult... then it's better to cancel from the start. The food was delicious, but not at all appropriate for the price! For €18.50 you get a plate with some salmon, egg, cold cuts, yoghurt and far too little bread. Everything that was on this plate didn't taste that good or seemed like the price was even remotely justified. I would advise against this store, unfortunately.

We only drank cocktails, but the taste was very bland and there were too many ice cubes, so it was very watery. There were no straws either...how are you supposed to mix the drink properly? Maybe with a teaspoon... great 👍 it was definitely too expensive for that...

Delicious tarte flambée in the heart of Stuttgart. The furnishings are harmonious and you sit in the atmosphere of a true “artist café”. Unfortunately, the acoustics are not optimal and many guests find it uncomfortably loud. Please note that no card payment is possible.

The food was, as always, very good. Even though the glass and the saucer had to go back (they weren't washed well, there were residues on them). I have never experienced service like this before. Unfriendly and disciplinary. That's not how you treat your customers. If this looks like an overload, then the owner should urgently think about something.

Very nice restaurant in the heart of Stuttgart. You can have a very good breakfast and the lunch menu is also impressive, especially in terms of price. The service is consistently friendly and attentive. In winter you can enjoy a hot drink in the charming interiors. In summer, the backyard offers peace from the hustle and bustle of the city. I often come here myself and will definitely come back.

Although it is not spacious and there are many tables, it feels cramped between stations, but the chefs and employees were very friendly and tried to serve us as best as they could, so I was thankful. The pizza and salad were reasonably delicious, and as the name suggests, it was fun to look at the art pieces displayed on the wall.

Kenne ich schon lange und das Beste daran ist: Dieses Lokal ist gleich gut geblieben! Das ist ebenso erstaunlich wie selten. Egal ob Frühstück Mittagessen oder ein Absacker. chapeau!

Unfriendly waiters. Putting 1 and 1 together, the stuffed peppers (dinner of the day) were filled with last week's Chilli Con Carne (I was given last week's menu). I wouldn't recommend reordering sauce from this staff. Small portions, overpriced just not recommended. 1 star is still too much!!!!!!

We were guests for the first time. The range of food on offer was limited and not very diverse. The service was subpar, as you had to wait a long time for your drinks, some of the food you ordered was lost, and the empty plates were cleared away very late. The staff was nevertheless friendly and helpful.

Breakfast was a nice experience in a friendly atmosphere with memories of a Viennese coffee house. Unfortunately, one of our Bionades had expired for over half a year. Otherwise everything is green and delicious. There is also a lovely backyard for those warm days.

A good place in a very nice ambience with good quality and selection of food and drinks. In my opinion, the lady in service takes far too long to get started and should learn to use the word service. Another guest and I entered the restaurant two minutes after it officially opened on September 30th in the morning for breakfast (just after 8!) - mind you: it was raining outside. Instead of a friendly good morning - because that's at least how you make the guests feel welcome - the ladies first of all accused us of having already entered the restaurant, even though we should have seen that there wasn't a small table for smokers in front of it Local would stand🤣! What a nice joke, showing up for work too short and then holding it against the guests. I had already mentioned this to the lady across the street, and she replied: *I would have waited* Weak! Especially since the other guest = regular, an older gentleman, has breakfast there almost every day!

After the many top reviews, I expected a lot - and above all, I got high prices. The coffee is good but from a fully automatic machine, the soft egg is hard and the sausage looks like it came from a package. If you sit inside and the door is open, it's a place right on the highway. Sure, it's a great, pretty restaurant with a good breakfast. For €14.60 - €34.50 per person without coffee, it's only four stars.

I had the great pleasure of dining with Henry (Chef) and it was an experience unlike any other. From the moment of greeting to the last bite, everything was just right. We got a special request fulfilled. This dish was prepared to incredible perfection. The atmosphere was pleasant and inviting, the staff attentive and friendly without being intrusive. But what really stood out was the incredible quality and sophistication of the dishes. Every detail seemed thought through, the flavors were perfectly balanced and the presentation of the food was a true work of art. It was a culinary journey that appealed to all the senses and that you won't soon forget. If you are looking for an unforgettable experience, you should definitely not miss a visit to Henry.

A quiet green space. Quiet environment and friendly service. Good food, it took a long time to prepare the crepes but the coffees had already been served to us; waiting for the food the drinks would have been cold, too bad. Prices a little high for the portions served.

Ein Überbleibsel aus der Zeit, als originelle Persönlichkeiten noch originelle Lokale eröffneten und nicht die Profiesser der Stuttgarter Nachrichten Matthias Ring, Anja Wasserbäch und Kathrin Haasis jeden Koch in den gastronomischen Himmel erhoben, der die Würstchen links statt rechts vom Brötchen auf den Teller legt, als erhielten sie ihren Lohn nicht von der Zeitung, sondern von den Restaurantbesitzern, die mit Tellern in der Hand für Fotos posieren. Äußerlich erinnert das kleine Restaurant mit Catering an die Berliner Paris Bar, aber das war's auch schon. Das Essen mittelmäßig zu nennen, wäre eine Schmeichelei. Es ist zu teuer (2 Eier 7 Euro und mehr) und wird lieblos serviert. Man wartet bei einem halbleeren Lokal ewig, bis man eine Bestellung aufgeben kann, und der Kellner würde jeden Wettbewerb für Unfreundlichkeit gewinnen. Geblieben ist der Name. Kein Grund, dorthin zu gehen.

Server is very friendly. Bread is really really good. Very Delicious coffee and green smoothie. And great eggs! A lot of food choices. Atmosphere is good sitting outside.

We were here for the first time and were pleasantly surprised by the nice restaurant. Large breakfast selection, everything very tasty and varied. Also the rest of the card. When the weather is nice you can sit on the green terrace. The service was very attentive, you'll be happy to come back.

Stopped by at lunchtime today in the old tradition (bernds lädle) and had lunch. I'm actually a very friendly reviewer, but this visit was underground! Ravioli (€18.80) - loveless, appetizer portion, tasteless. My wife had piccata milanese (€26.90) - as the owner I would be ashamed of the quality and price/performance of this dish... the friendly service was the highlight of this last visit to the academy.

Very cute breakfast place. The service was very nice and friendly. There really is something for everyone on the menu. The food is made fresh in the kitchen and served hot. I also thought it was great that they had oat milk as an alternative. 😊👍🏼
