After many years in which we never managed to eat at 1990, the time had come. At lunchtime during the week, it wasn't difficult to get a seat. The service was very friendly, the food was very good. Absolute recommendation

Delicious vegan dishes, you don't order main courses but rather several smaller different portions. This means you can eat your way through almost the entire menu together. Everything tastes very good and fills you up.

A very good meal, especially bao number 1. We will return for sure.

Asian tapas with small bowls, perfect for sharing and all vegan

Unfortunately, the portions have become smaller and the small bowls have become 1 euro more expensive. I had the Yogi Bowl, which always had 2 of these crunchy flake tofu sticks in it, now only one. I also think the tables are very narrow. You're basically sitting at the neighbor's table. I understand this from the perspective that as a restaurant you try to serve as many customers as possible, but it's almost uncomfortable and super loud. I still enjoy the selection and the flavors are good too. (€62 for three people)

The food was great. There are no classic soft drinks, but the lemonade was great. The acoustics were pretty loud and the tables were very close together.

I really wanted to love this, and it was tasty, but it did not sit well on my stomach. Too much oil, which was not good quality. Also too much sugar in the sauces. Vegan, yes, but quality & healthy?? You can do better.

We went there for the first time with friends. It was very tasty, both the food and the drinks. Even as a flexitarian you don't miss anything. We'd love to come back.

Went there for the first time on a Friday evening, friendly welcome, got a seat quickly. Around 6:00 p.m. the restaurant was still very empty, but that changed within the next 30 minutes, it became fuller and also very loud. Food and drink requests are written on a piece of paper and given to the waiter. The food and drinks came very quickly. Everything was very tasty, only 2 of the bowls had the same vegetables, a lot of peppers and onions, but anyone who can read knows what's coming. Only cash payment is possible, I would like to try it again.

The food was very tasty, especially the mango smoothie was excellent. The order was served super quickly (5 minutes). The price-performance ratio was also absolutely great, both main courses cost €23 together. One small point of criticism: The music didn't really fit the ambience and was a bit too loud for my taste. Nevertheless, I can absolutely recommend the restaurant!

The two of us recently went to this restaurant and had a very nice evening. The atmosphere is traditional and cozy, you immediately feel at home. I have to particularly praise the service: the staff were extremely friendly and our food came to the table very quickly. The food tasted really good, I especially liked my bowl. The only point of criticism: there was a bit too much pumpkin in my curry and it was cut quite roughly, which spoiled the enjoyment a little. Otherwise a very successful composition! My friend was also very happy with her dish. The price of the restaurant is absolutely fair, so you can eat here more often. All in all, a nice place to eat well and feel good. We'll definitely be back!

This place is the vegan paradise. Everythings is wonderful. Each dish brings an unforgettable explosion of flavours. The attendants are very cordial, the atmosphere is pleasant and cosy at any time of the year. It’s not a place to eat all weekend, but for a special date, a celebration or just a treat to yourself is perfect.

The atmosphere was really nice and the staff was attentive and there quickly. I particularly liked the wall painting. The food was very tasty, especially the fried tofu. I also like the ordering system where you write everything down on a piece of paper. 10/10, I'll definitely be back, even though I found €6.50 per bowl a bit much.

Great food, highly recommended.

I used to go there often and was always very enthusiastic. Now I was there for lunch and unfortunately totally disappointed. The tapas were served carelessly and, above all, the taste was no longer what it used to be. The mango salad was much too coarsely cut with too little sauce, the red curry only had 3 huge pieces of sweet potato or pumpkin in it and the tofu sticks with the raspberry sauce were not made with the soft tofu like before, but with standard tofu. Just really not good. What a shame.

Comfort food vibes and good customer experience. Highlights: the curry and the cucumber salad + bao bun. Cash only is a bummer and another note is that prices have increases a lot over the last year, but overall I would come back again if I’m looking for vegan food

I had the pleasure of visiting the Asian vegan restaurant in 1990 and I have nothing but positive things to say. The restaurant offers a pleasant and welcoming atmosphere with stylish furnishings that combine modern design with Asian elements. The staff are friendly and attentive, making you immediately feel at home. The menu is diverse and offers a wide range of creative vegan dishes based on Asian flavors. Particularly noteworthy are the aromatic curries, delicious rice dishes and the vegan summer rolls, which are freshly prepared and served with a delicious peanut sauce. You can tell that attention is paid to quality and sustainability here. The prices are reasonable for the high quality of the food and I can recommend Restaurant 1990 to anyone who is in Berlin and looking for delicious vegan Asian cuisine. It definitely won't be my last visit!

Hand on heart: making Vietnamese cuisine vegan is really not that complicated. But I expect minimal sophistication or effort in what is served (or not). I give one more star for people with heart disease: there was a lack of salt everywhere. There are 2 stars because the food is edible. As a starter we had the steamed dumplings on a bed of cabbage. Pretty tasteless, no dip/sauce. The main course was the udon noodles. The crispy tofu stick was okay, although unseasoned - the 3 drops of sauce tasted great and was unfortunately the best part. The rest was a simple Maggi vegetable broth, the vegetables were not overcooked, but the tofu was even more so and inedible. My friend then had some of the udon packaging in her food... The green tea with ginger was heavily sweetened despite clear communication. And that fits with the service: it is non-existent. We tried to speak to the waiter several times. Long waiting times for everything, drinks come with the food.

Although a bit pricey if you choose the tapas mode, I always take the big dishes and they are delicious

Delicious food. Big Bowl with udong and tofu - masterpiece. Big portions at a fair price. Bowl with rice as well. Breaded tofu on a stick and other side dishes as well. Mango Lassie - perfect. I will come back here for sure.

1990 Vegan Living is a true treasure where just one visit is simply not enough. The venue is incredibly relaxing, inviting and cozy and the second you enter you are met with friendly servers and workers as well as a lively and vibey atmosphere to go with it. The WHOLE menu is entirely vegan consisting of a crazy good variety of asian and Vietnamese dishes where you can either order small or big portions. The food is freshly made and packed with flavors and if you go for the smaller portions you can quickly find yourself ordering 4-6 different tapas sized and delicious foods to share. The decor and furniture goes hand in hand with the restaurants style and vibe. Overall, this place a great experience and a must visit when in Berlin.

Not all dishes are worth it in my opinion but the udon dish is the best thing that ever existed in Berlin, I bring everybody I know to try them and they want to come back here every day after that

A young dynamic team welcomes you, there are no reservations. You place the order yourself using a piece of paper. Saves the employees time and the guest is not constantly "bothered". The highlight is definitely the food. As a meat eater, I have rarely felt so comfortable in a vegan restaurant! Above all, all the new impressions and tastes, sensational! By the way, each small bowl costs €6.50, rice and pasta around €2.00 Thanks!

I love this place since 2018. Yet have to find a vegan restaurant with better options in Berlin. 1990 is my go-to for taking guests out and no one was ever disappointed, not even my meat-eating friends and family. I definitely recommend getting small bowls (find 3 per person is great amount, 4 if big eaters/very hungry). Get different ones and share! We always order the tofu in crispy rice flakes - mostly for its chili raspberry sauce and the Shaolin Pockets because of the mango sauce. It can be busy, especially during colder seasons without outdoor seating. No reservations means you might wait a bit. I never waited more than 15 minutes. Beware: CASH ONLY.

Fantastic food and a really large selection of different tapas/bowls. Definitely recommended! We were there around lunchtime and it wasn't too busy, but we had made a reservation. This is certainly an advantage, especially on weekends or evenings.

The food is delicious, nothing is fried to death and the staff is super friendly. I also think the free water is a big plus. The only problem I find is the furnishings: it was terribly loud (we were there during prime time), so sound absorbers on the walls and ceiling would make sense. The lighting is direct and very bright from above: good for Instagram photos, bad for the atmosphere. The noise and lighting made me feel stressed and I couldn't enjoy the food 100% :(

One of my favorite restaurants in the city. From the small dishes “Princess and the Pea” and “1990’s Vikings” are standouts. Not only don’t they give you a dirty look for having tap water, they have cucumber water for free 🥺

Everything delicious and tasty!! The friendly staff also recommended some dishes that we particularly liked. Lots of small bowls to share. It also has tables outside. If you come to Berlin I recommend it.

Both Yogi Bowl and Ying Yang bowl were absolutely delicious. Variety of flavours in reasonable portions. Quick service. Highly revommend to eat here if you love asian cuisine.

It was a bit crowded and noisy, but still very nicely decorated. The food also came very quickly. The only thing that was a bit stressful was that you didn't have your own spices on the table, but you asked if you wanted chili sauce, for example, and it was on the table for a moment and then gone again, so you had to couldn't add more seasoning without asking again. I had the frames and they were okay, but I've definitely eaten better ones. My friends had other dishes but they looked tastier.

Unfortunately not recommended at all. Food served attractively, unfortunately on broken dishes (several bowls were broken). Subterranean in taste. Ordered three different small dishes, not one of them was really tasty. I let almost everything go back. No acceptance of the criticism, the waiter wasn't even interested, which I think is a shame. I've never eaten so badly for 25 euros.

We went here for dinner and it was a very good experience. The food was very flavorful, especially the eggplant and the faux chicken styr fry. The spring rolls lacked a bit of flavor, but all the other dishes had the flavours you expect from vietnamese food, all the right herbs and spices - lovely. You write down your order on a piece of paper, but you are able to modify or order more when the staff comes to the table, which makes it a bit strange that you had to use the paper in the first place. All in all good experience, we love the vegan options in this area and this place did not disappoint

A particularly beautiful restaurant. We haven't eaten vegan before and are thrilled by the variety and quality. Even the 85-year-old grandma was thrilled and tried everything. Highly recommended. The dog was allowed in and was given a bowl of water.

Unfriendly and annoyed waitresses more interested in talking about private topics while sipping their teas. When I tried to order she was really rude and clearly showing she was upset then they started hiding not to be annoyed during their conversation! The water was served in a glass and was hot. Bad!

Came here to grab takeout in between trains. They were very quick, and when I finally got a chance to sit down and eat over an hour later, the food was still warm and amazing.

Tourist trap. Lots of fake reviews. Canteen food. Uncomfortable. Stressful street. Bad mass food. Diarrhea for three days. Avoid this place. Complete review: Simply not recommended. I don't understand how the good reviews here came about, it can only be fake. We sat in small, uncomfortable children's chairs, at a table that was much too tiny and was very slanted and everything was so dramatic that you always thought you were going to fall off the chair and the food was also slipping off the table. Let's come to the food: It's not even a restaurant because it's a canteen, nothing is prepared fresh, it's made in huge quantities, kept warm and packed into no bowls. The restaurant is a lie. I have no problem with canteen food, I sometimes go to such restaurants myself, but then I pay a canteen price and not 80 euros like we do here. Well, it tasted like factory food. Don't be fooled by the pictures with the colorful bowls. Total tourist spot. No Asian guests, which are usually a guarantee of good food in Berlin. In addition: I have absolutely no idea what was going on with the food, in any case I have had diarrhea for three days and had to cancel a trip to Hamburg, which prompted me to write this review. Do your homework and go to the good Asian restaurants, of which there are many away from the tourist hell of Friedrichshain. It's a shame that people are so unscrupulous to deceive other people like that. However, after 15 years in this city, I know that there is also the opposite of this store.

I'm not vegan, and I usually don't order vegan dishes often, especially the ones with "meat". However, this restaurant was a positive surprise. The food was delicious. Everything was very tasty and fresh. The dish also had a good size for its price. It's definitely worth a visit, be you vegan or not.

Amazing! We went here on recommendation of a friend and it did not disappoint! You can choose multiple small dishes each €6,5, we got 2 per person and shared an extra bowl of rice. It was the perfect amount and delivered within 5 min. The drinks are also really good, for dessert we got coconut creme brulee which was absolutely worth it. Also very friendly staff. 10/10

Very friendly service, great concept that appeals to all tastes. Don't order too many bowls at once, otherwise it will be unnecessarily expensive. We suggest a maximum of 3 per person. Or order the daily lunch if you want to be full and safe. Tasty and very plentiful.
