We always enjoy coming to 1894. The ambience is simply great and the menu has something for every taste. Our food (burgers, tarte flambée, pasta) was very good and the service was very accommodating. On weekends you should reserve a table as the shop is very popular.

Warming service and delicious food – highly recommended! We were there today after a fresh spring hike and arrived pretty cold. The waitress noticed this immediately and offered us a comfortable place next to the heater - that was really attentive and made us very happy. The entire service was extremely friendly and accommodating. The younger colleague was also very competent and left a great impression. We had an overall lovely stay. The food was really delicious – fresh, lovingly prepared and tasted great! We can only recommend a visit here and would be happy to come back.

Geplant war ein tolles Abendessen in gemütlicher Atmosphäre… Reservierung im Restaurant lag schone einige Tage zurück. Online vorbestellt war erst ein Tisch für 8 Personen, der telefonisch nochmal auf 10 Personen erhöht wurde. Als wir ankamen wurden wir in den Wintergarten gebracht an einen Holztisch mit Bänken - nur eine Bank mit Rückenlehne. Wir haben dann versucht einen anderen Platz zu erhalten wo alle auf einem Stuhl im warmen Gastraum sitzen. Leider nicht möglich, Gruppen ( wir saßen schon zu 8 im oberen Bereich) wären nur an den Holztischen im Aussenbereich möglich. Wir waren zu 9 mit 2 Kindern. 10 Erwachsene an so einem Tisch ergäbe essen in einer engen Sardinenbüchse. Es war obenrum beheizt, leider war es fußkalt und wir sind durchgefroren nach Hause gefahren. Ich hoffe die Kinder bleiben gesund. Von 9 Essen war leider die Hälfte eher mittelmäßig. Bei fast 20,- Euro ein TK Schnitzel war für uns der absolute Hammer. Fertigtomatensosse im Kinderesses und Kartoffelpuffer nicht selbstgemacht. Leider war der Flammkuchen nicht durch. Der Laden war nach Eröffnung noch besser, mittlerweile geht es eher um Profit. Dieser Restaurant sieht uns nicht wieder…

We like to stop by this quaint restaurant. The entire staff there is friendly and food and drinks are good and at moderate prices. The location right in the center by the cable car is of course also great.

After a nice walk on the Love Bank Path, we spontaneously stopped into the restaurant with our little daughter and dog and were greeted very friendly by Anja, our waitress. Despite having a full reservation, we got a nice table with plenty of space for our dog for two hours. Our Emma immediately took Anja to her heart and we were completely thrilled with homemade lemonade, tea, cocoa and juice as well as Jägerschnitzel fries, schnitzel bowl and nuggets with fries. The food was served after a short wait and was delicious. We have never had such perfect steakhouse fries in Germany. Otherwise we only know quality from Belgium or the Netherlands. The atmosphere in the restaurant is very nice and we felt totally comfortable and welcome. We'd love to come back! Reservation is recommended in advance. Thanks alot!

Sorry - but unfortunately that was nothing! Attracted by the great ambience, we went to eat at 1894 today. We ordered cheese spaetzle and sour meat with extra potatoes and the feedback in advance: you can also get that from the supermarket! :-/ I don't expect homemade spaetzle, but unfortunately these weren't of great quality - unfortunately they were cooked through and dry at the same time and the cheese had hardly any taste. We were also disappointed with the sour meat: it wasn't homemade sour meat - so it tasted like it came from a jar in the supermarket. The potatoes (for 5.90 euros extra) were cooked through and dry. When asked, it was also confirmed that it was not homemade sour meat. As I said - I don't have to go to a restaurant for something like that, especially not with sour meat. There was also no accommodation or a goody like an espresso on the house or anything like that. For me it's a typical tourist restaurant: designed for a one-off visit, you're attracted by the ambience and then unfortunately disappointed - nothing more! Reply to your comment: Please don't lie here. Half of the cheese spaetzle was left behind, as were the potatoes, and of course we informed the waitress and she responded with the succinct comment: “Otherwise everyone here will like it!”

What a beautiful and atmospheric bistro! The staff is very friendly and you really feel like a king as a customer. Nothing is too much and they really think along with you. We walked in spontaneously on Saturday evening and the Dutch owners made every effort to arrange a spot for us. The result was a spot in the cozy winter garden. The food is incredibly tasty. The restaurant is really an asset to the picturesque cozy village! We would love to come back again.

Last Friday evening we had a delicious dinner in 1894. The food was very good, the service was friendly and the atmosphere was very pleasant. That's why we ate at 1894 again on Saturday! This time in the Wintergarten. Also great! We can definitely recommend 1894!

The combination of high-quality food and a well-stocked drinks menu - including several types of freshly tapped beer - makes the visit unforgettable. The ambience is cozy and inviting, with a charming mix of modern style and rustic charm. The large sun terrace in particular invites you to linger, and on cooler days the fireplace creates a warm atmosphere. Another highlight is the fantastic adventure mini golf course with 18 themed holes that offer fun for the whole family. The themes such as Harz water worlds and mining are creatively implemented and make the experience unique. The service is extremely friendly and attentive, which makes the stay even more pleasant. Hospitality is very important here! Conclusion: Whether for a delicious meal, a relaxed drink or an entertaining round of mini golf - the 1894 Bistro & Bar is a must for every Hahnenklee visitor. Absolutely recommended!

So let's get to my review: The atmosphere was very nice and the service was also very friendly. Now let's get to the not nice things: Starter: Garlic baguette with garlic sauce taken according to the menu. We got baguette with garlic sauce. According to the waitress, that's how it is in Holland. Main course: Penne with chicken ordered. The food was very bland, extra parmesan also costs extra and we weren't told, it was just on the bill. Criticism wasn't addressed as much when we told the boss, who suddenly spoke to us in Dutch. Sorry Team 1894 but we had different ideas for the evening and will definitely not come by again.

Never again! We had reserved a table online weeks ago on December 31, 2024 from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m., which was also confirmed to us. We were informed by email 12 hours in advance that the reservation is only from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m. and the kitchen is closed from 8:30 p.m.! When we asked, since we wanted to eat, whether they could book us in earlier, they just said that everything was full! No word of apology, no accommodation, instead our reservation was canceled! The Peemöller family (previous owners) turned it into such a beautiful restaurant, the ambience and food were great! We've already eaten twice with the current owners, the food was lukewarm and not the quality we were used to! Dear Anja is a really great waitress and of course she can't/couldn't change anything about it. We have been in Hahnenklee for 30 years and we have never encountered anything like this. This development is very, very sad!

Today at 5 p.m. we reserved a table, ordered at 5:15 p.m. then it took 25 minutes until the drinks were there, then we waited 1:20 hours for the food until it was at the table. Other customers come 30 minutes later than us and get their food earlier to eat the kale was not to be enjoyed new portions of kale fresh from the jar now worst of all a so-called eviction at 6:45 p.m. we couldn't order dessert because the next ones were already coming at 7 p.m and again we waited 1:20 hours for the food. The waitress looked at the clock and said that we could get a soft ice cream because it was quick after she looked at the clock

We already knew this from our first visit to Hahnenklee in February of this year in 1894. Now we were here again for 5 days and of course we made a reservation in 1894. The ambience of the bistro is very nice and, above all, the extremely friendly and friendly service ensures that you immediately feel comfortable and welcome here. Luckily the change of ownership had no negative effects 😀 The food was again totally delicious - whether it was a burger, fish, schnitzel or rump steak. And the menu offers enough options to have dinner here several times 😉 we would have been here 5 times if there weren't two rest days... From our point of view, the 1894 is a clear recommendation... we will definitely come back.

It was my first time in the bistro, two days in a row (table 105) and I have to say, the ambience, staff, food, drink... everything is sooooo outstanding. The atmosphere is super nice! So we expected a lot... the taste of the food was ok. But way too expensive for that. When we got the bill we were shocked to find out that we had to pay €4! Paid for a portion of ketchup and mayo... Information in advance that it costs extra would have been nice. In addition, the waitress was very unfriendly and didn't really feel like doing his job. What a shame! Oh yes and the Kaiserschmarren for €15 including apple compote is far too expensive! And apple compote ended up being just soft whole apple strips in a water bath... I've never experienced anything like that...

Chilli cheese baguette with steak is highly recommended, also as a main course. As a normal man, you get full. If you're significantly more hungry than others, then maybe add some fries. My wife really got full from the baguette.

Everything is just right here. From the ambience to the drinks to the food, it's simply great. We haven't eaten so tasty and plentiful food in a long time. My husband and I were very disappointed with the food. Cold soup, schnitzel was definitely frozen food and was prepared in the deep fryer. My husband had schnitzel with bacon and egg, the bacon was limp and the egg was ruined. Cold food was also served here. We definitely expected more from it and were bitterly disappointed. The food is fast food quality with overpriced prices. The only positive thing was the very nice service. We won't eat there anymore.

There isn't that much choice. It's relatively nice here, modern, rustic, cozy. The table and glasses were not clean. The service was attentive and nice. The food was standard and predictable. Unfortunately partly cold. The breading of the shaped cutlets is industrial. Everything could be much nicer and better if a little more attention was paid to quality.

There is only one star for the “schnitzel”. I was there with my son last week and we both ordered schnitzel. I have never had such poor quality food in a restaurant. It was TK Industrie Schnitzel and really had nothing in common with a real schnitzel! The service wasn't really what you would like either. My son and I were still eating when we were asked for the first time if we could clear up. We still ate!!! After another 5 to 10 minutes we were asked again if we were ready. After a total of less than 45 minutes we left. We felt like we should leave quickly so new guests could come. The ambience was quite nice... But that doesn't stop it. We're definitely not coming back!

The 1894 is a rustic and very comfortably furnished restaurant in the heart of Hahnenklee. The ambience and furnishings should be extremely inviting, especially in the cold winter time. During our visit at coffee time, we ate a colorful mix of food and drinks in a small group. The prices for these are generally in the upper segment and in the end we were a bit shocked in some places (small piece of cake, small portion of ketchup, tarte flambée). The dishes were generally okay, the crispy fries stood out very positively. The bottom line is that the visit was a bit sobering, especially given the otherwise great presentation and the thoroughly modern concept.

The atmosphere and staff seemed very positive during our short stay and we took the food with us. The steak sandwich was delicious with a fair rice for 21€ and obviously freshly prepared, BUT the schnitzel for 20€ was a ready-made frozen schnitzel. I absolutely didn't expect that given THAT price and the ambience, I could have just gone to the snack bar next door and saved a lot of money...really sad.

Great event house with adventure golf, a great winter garden, kiosk and food in the open framework. Super atmospheric, cozy and furnished with a lot of love, light and warmth. The 18-hole course offers some great surprises and is a lot of fun! The Dutch owners have created a great oasis of well-being here!

The nachos were tasteless. There was a lack of salt. The service was very friendly, but a bit scattered. A negative and somewhat shocking thing to mention is that we had to pay for tap water. We ordered some with our whiskey, not out of greed but due to illness (sulfate intolerance). We paid around €12 for 4 taps of water plus our bill of €90. We've never experienced anything like this before. That was very outrageous and also a disgrace for this location.

Cool location, I think there's still something to be said about the taste, otherwise it's great.
