We always enjoy coming here. The price/performance ratio is good (especially for the pizza), the atmosphere is pleasant, and the outdoor seating is particularly nice in the summer. The staff has always been friendly, too.

There were eight of us there. Since the weather was still nice, we sat in the beer garden. Almost everyone had special requests. The waiter handled this brilliantly, remained calm, and was in a very good mood. The food was excellent. Everyone was very satisfied. We'd gladly return. Top

Large, beautiful beer garden, delicious food. But the service was completely uninviting. We received a very rude and unfriendly welcome and were immediately told to order quickly because the kitchen was about to close. According to the menu, the kitchen was open for over an hour. Occupied tables were cleared. Stupid remarks like "should we sleep here or something?" were heard every second. It's a shame. We had a great spot with a view of the small lake and wanted to have a nice family evening. On top of that, my son was insulted by a waiter. It's a shame.

The atmosphere was great, the food was ok but the service was a scandal, we hadn't even sat down at 7.20pm when the waiter, a waiter who has been there for years, immediately said to us, order quickly, the kitchen is closing soon! The menu is open until 8.30pm!!!!! Then the same old comment again and again, are we supposed to sleep here or what should the waiter do!! Totally annoyed, unbelievably bad for a man with that experience, completely wrong, never experienced anything like it!! 😮 Unfortunately, because the location is great, the food is ok too, but the service is terrible, even if that probably doesn't bother anyone!! Delicious pizza ate, but also other dishes very tasty

We've been here many times and always enjoy returning. The waitstaff is mostly young students, and we really like that. Everything is relaxed and friendly with them, whereas older waitstaff often seem a bit hectic. Drinks arrive quickly, and the food is served promptly. The goose was incredibly delicious, the pizza simply amazing, and the salads are always fresh and crisp. The desserts are also a highlight; everything from cake to crème brûlée was top-notch. Sometimes you wait a few minutes to get a seat, but it's definitely worth it. Whether in the beer garden in summer or in the cozy interior in winter, the 12 Apostel is worth a visit any time of year.

In addition to delicious food, they also serve superb ice cream. The staff is friendly, and the value for money is good.

For a restaurant that advertises these opening hours, this is absolutely disappointing and disrespectful to its guests. Anyone who advertises that they're open until 10:30 p.m. should also serve food until then—anything else is misleading. Unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend it.

It used to be a really nice place about 10 years ago. Now (2025) it's not so nice anymore. The pizzas we had weren't well-topped. The shrimp on the pizza were cold, probably because they were carelessly sprinkled on after the pizza had been baked. The pizzas were only lightly cooked, but some were burnt on the edges. The service was rather inattentive, hectic, and perhaps over-serviced. The beer mats were dirty from being overused. The outdoor area is now rather unkempt. I wouldn't recommend it anymore.

The worst thing I've ever eaten. The food was served after 2 minutes, the fries were soggy, and the Wiener Schnitzel had been sitting under the heat lamp for hours. To say it tasted bad would be an exaggeration. The second meal arrived 20 minutes later. Instead of a meal, they should have served something decent in terms of quality. When we asked if we would have liked to eat together, the waiter's original answer was, "Then they'll have to order the same thing." Unbelievable. What a shame about the beautiful garden.

I'd like to review the food. Unfortunately, you can't get a seat here even if you have a reservation. We've never experienced worse planning. The line of waiting guests kept getting longer and longer, and the staff was completely overwhelmed. If you're going to offer reservations, you should also make sure that guests get a seat. This just makes it seem like you're just trying to fill the place up without caring about the customers. In any case, we won't be back.

We ate there on Schnitzel Tuesday on August 12th. Unfortunately, the schnitzels weren't good; they were either ready-made schnitzels or old, reheated ones. The side dishes were good, but the schnitzel itself was very disappointing.

Yesterday we were at the 12 Apostles and unfortunately discovered that the quality has declined considerably. We had a steak and an Olympia pancake. The steak was ordered medium, but it was cooked overcooked, and the price of almost €28 for such a small portion without a side salad isn't justified given the quality. The pancake was delicious, but it was served almost cold. We sat outside; the table hadn't been wiped, and the outlines of the plates and glasses were still visible. Furthermore, the seat cushions were covered in stains.

We were very disappointed. The food consisted almost entirely of ready-made products. My wife had the salmon, which was dry and tasted like it had been reheated. I had a schnitzel (you'd imagine otherwise) with a sauce that was indefinable. Freshly made and homemade sauces are a must for these prices. Unfortunately, we won't be coming again.

The website said opening hours were until 10 p.m. A phone call said the kitchen was open until 9 p.m., only to be told very bluntly by the waiter that it was already closed (at 8:20 p.m.). When we asked, another member of staff told us the kitchen was open until 8:30 p.m., meaning we had 10 minutes to choose something to eat. We were then treated unfriendly and almost disrespectfully by the entire staff. When we ordered, we were told the only dishes available were schnitzel and salad, so we ordered two schnitzels. It was surprising that people ordered after us and were served pasta and pizza, but oh well. Taste is subjective; in our opinion, very cheap food at an expensive price. The ambiance outside is very nice, at least, even though the place next to us had already been completely cleaned up before 9 p.m., an hour before closing time, which seemed a bit excessive.

The vegan dishes are truly disappointing. The service and quality are also extremely poor, even though the location has so much potential. At 12 Apostel, there's only one deep fryer, which is used to cook meat, fries, etc. It's simply disgusting! 🤢 No wonder I had a bone in my fries. The server's response: "It can happen," is that even possible? The hygiene, freshness of the food, and service are far below gastronomic standards, which is why I really can't recommend this "restaurant" to anyone. But feel free to see for yourself.

The food was okay. I was bothered by the fact that, even with four people, the food didn't arrive for everyone at once. Two schnitzels arrived after what felt like five minutes, so they were either prepared or already in stock for immediate delivery. The pizza arrived a while later. We sat outside, and the positive thing here is that the tables aren't crammed together, and you get a comfortable seat. The service was OK, as always, but not particularly attentive or helpful. I find it rather dark and not so nice inside. It seems very much geared towards mass processing.

The food is delicious, the portions are generous. The only drawback is the noise level due to the high demand, which in turn reflects the high level of customer acceptance. Reservations are highly recommended! Dogs are not a problem outside! Parking is just about sufficient.

I've been to the 12 Apostles several times, but this time I was really disappointed. We waited a long time for our first drink outside, despite the high temperatures. My visit to the restaurant Die zwölf Apostel in Hilden was unfortunately disappointing. Expectations were high, but the culinary experience fell far short of what one would expect from an established restaurant. The sea bream, which I was particularly looking forward to, wasn't fresh and was practically buried under an excessive amount of sauce – even though the fish should really be able to speak for itself. The side dish also left a lot to be desired: The potatoes seemed old and unappetizing, which further tarnished the overall impression of the main course. The Pinot Grigio deserves special mention – a bright spot on an otherwise rather mediocre evening. Likewise, the ambiance outside was pleasant and generally inviting. The service was attentive, but couldn't save the overall experience. Conclusion: The visit wasn't worth the money. The taste was weak and disappointing in parts. Nevertheless – everyone deserves a second chance. Maybe it just wasn't the right day. But this lunch unfortunately didn't leave a good impression.

The 12 Apostel restaurant has 5 stars in all categories. They offer a variety of meat and fish dishes, pasta, pizza, and desserts. There's a beautifully decorated indoor area as well as a very large outdoor area, which is particularly lovely given the restaurant's location next to a forest. There are also various specials throughout the week; our last visit was this Thursday. We participated in the "all you can eat spare ribs" evening. For a fair price, you get a plate of marinated spare ribs, Italian potatoes, and a salad. The potatoes and salad were delicious, and the spare ribs were a delight with the sauce. If you're still hungry after your plate, you get a second helping, after which another plate of spare ribs was brought to us. My favorite at this restaurant remains the Jacobus der Älteste pizza; I highly recommend it. Regarding the 5 stars for the service: The entire staff is friendly and, despite the large number of guests, always seems calm and professional. One of my companions had a birthday, and there was singing, and they really did everything to make even the little guests happy. We always enjoy coming here.

We came here for the first time today. I thought the trip was in vain, as we didn't have a reservation. It was packed, and several people arrived after us. We were given a table and ordered our drinks and food shortly after. The starters came so quickly that they were on the table just before the drinks. We had almost finished the starter when the main course arrived. Despite the stress and hectic pace, all the staff were very friendly. The food was fresh, hot, and deliciously prepared. Chapeau!!! We've been there several times over the past few years and have always been very satisfied. The time before last, the grilled meat arrived after two minutes and tasted like it had come out of a microwave. The Coke was unfortunately very stale, and everything looked very pre-prepared. The meat in particular was unfortunately very limp and fatty and unfortunately tasted bad at all. So we decided to give the restaurant another chance yesterday. Unfortunately, the drinks four times were still stale, and the minced steak tasted like a ready-made burger from the supermarket. The only good thing about the restaurant was the location. Unfortunately, I can no longer recommend it.

The cutlery, especially the knives, could have been sharper. You end up tearing the 🍕 pizza more than you slice it. Overall, a pleasant visit with some room for improvement.

Without the ice, the glass would have been barely a quarter full, which is completely excessive for the price and not acceptable. The atmosphere was okay, and it was very crowded. We would particularly like to highlight the service: The staff were all super nice, friendly, and quick. Another negative point was the sequence of dishes: After the starter, the main course arrived after just 10 minutes. The break was far too short, as you were almost full before you could fully enjoy the main course. We wish there was a much longer break here. Overall, there's room for improvement with the food and drinks, but the service was excellent.

Service was friendly and prompt, the food was plentiful and good, and the prices were fair. Everything was done right. However, given the large space plus the large outdoor terrace, there were only four stalls in the women's restroom and two small sinks, so waiting times were inevitable. All in all, though, it's definitely recommended.

Beautiful restaurant with a great outdoor area right by the forest. The menu offers a lot and the food was delicious. The salads were a decent size, but the meat dishes were even smaller. The service was unfortunately very poor; the conversation was incredibly incomprehensible, the waitresses apparently didn't know what was being served on the trays, and we weren't asked once during our three hours there if we wanted something else to drink, etc. Some drinks we didn't order were brought, and one of our ordered dishes was completely forgotten. When we pointed this out, it arrived without comment after another long wait. Everyone else present had long since finished their food. There was no apology. The restrooms were complete chaos; at 9 p.m. they looked like a club at 4 a.m.

The answer to my complaint was that I should complain to Coca-Cola. A 0.4 oz Coke Zero for €5.10. The other waiter told me it was my own fault and that I should order a small Coke instead. They didn't ask if we wanted anything else to drink, or if we liked the food, or even afterwards if everything was okay. The waiter even complained to one of our group that he hadn't received a tip, even though he actually received €10. The waiter also cursed in his native language the whole time. We didn't feel welcome. I won't be visiting this restaurant again and can only advise against it. The food was also a joke. A grilled plate with half a bratwurst, a meatball, and two other unidentifiable things, garnished with roughly chopped butcher's onions and wilted lettuce. The fries and dessert were good, though, which justifies the second star.

The location is really nice, and most of the food that comes out of the kitchen looks very good, especially the pizzas. However, everything else is subpar. The menus are incomplete (pages fall out) and dirty. The allergens are sometimes listed incorrectly. Some dishes also come with an extra that isn't mentioned in the description (e.g., the cheese on bruschetta, which apparently falls under "other ingredients"). It's still nice that the allergens are clearly visible on the menu and there's a small designated vegetarian/vegan section. The vegetable pappardelle was unfortunately terrible. The broccoli was so overcooked you'd think it came from a freezer. The pasta was too soft for my taste, with far too few vegetables, and not a hint of seasoning other than a hint of garlic – absolutely bland and completely unloving. I wouldn't even cook it like that at home. When there are a lot of guests, there simply aren't enough staff on staff. You can tell people are stressed and have to deal with far too many things at once. Add to that the hot weather—it's unbearable.

We've been going here for years, but this is the last time! It's steadily going downhill, and the food has unfortunately reached the level of a chip shop. Menus are completely filthy, tables are dirty, glasses are dirty, the seat cushions are disgusting, the food for 6 came unevenly, sauces were missing, and many packets of mayo were slammed onto the table. The (compressed?) schnitzels were (fried?) hard and very dry, and the fries were ice cold. The pizzas were good as always, and some people also enjoyed the ice cream. It's a shame we won't be back.

Catastrophe! The pizza wasn't cooked properly, and parts of my schnitzel were still raw. When I pointed this out to the waiter, he tried to explain that it was a fillet—as if that justified the rawness. Until today, I hadn't known that schnitzel is made of fillet. The Coke Zero was completely stale. An additional portion of fries I ordered was refilled three times—and still didn't arrive in time. I would have much rather spent the €96.50 for four dishes at another restaurant. After paying, we weren't even given a farewell, even though we were respectful and friendly. After I politely declined a "cappuccino on the house," the head waiter simply turned around without a word and left—obviously offended. I can only advise against paying this restaurant a visit.
