Can't understand the good reviews. Been there several times so far. Regardless of whether it's real food or just waffles with cherries - it doesn't taste good and is expensive.

Relatively inexpensive. Very fast. Very large portions and (depending on your taste) something delicious for everyone. Since the store is very large, there is always something available. Even during peak times. Huge outdoor terrace in summer. Clear recommendation!

Anyone who, as a paying guest, would like to be treated disrespectfully, rudely and arrogantly (especially if they are dissatisfied) will certainly be well served here! However, you shouldn't need to do this as a guest, at least not us! We have been here several times in the past because of the good location. My husband and his staff also came here more often, partly because of the proximity to his place of work. Recently, friends of ours reported that they will no longer visit this location due to poor service and declining food quality. We couldn't confirm this until yesterday, but we haven't been there for a while. My husband ordered a cheeseburger. After a few bites he told me the burger wasn't cooked through at all. I asked if he wanted to complain, to which he said it was okay. As it progressed, however, the burger became more and more red, which was no longer acceptable. The cheese didn't melt either. My husband called the waiter and politely explained his concern, whereby he first looked incredulous and then proceeded to eat the burger in front of our eyes, even though the red meat was visible to the naked eye. Then he said the burger menu said the burgers were cooked medium rare. My husband replied that he ordered the burger without looking at the menu because he had eaten it here several times and never once had such red/raw meat on his plate! Minced meat should not be raw. The waiter replied that it wasn't minced meat, it was a burger patty (what are patties made of, cow shit?!). Since the waiter (who had been there for many years, around 40, thin and short) showed no insight and was very arrogant, my husband wanted to speak to the manager. I also said that my husband cooks himself and that he cooks well, that we often go to different places and that we have NEVER had such a red patty, whereupon we were sarcastically mocked (!) as we left. The “boss” then appeared, who, according to the description, positioned himself in front of my husband as if he were talking to a small child: hands on his knees, crouching, upper body bent forward. Not a word of regret, no accommodation, instead a lack of insight, pattering endless discussions, no less arrogant than his predecessor! Finally got the full price! Conclusion: There are definitely other (reputable) places where they still care about the guest and their satisfaction, are friendly and accommodating instead of unspeakably and inappropriately arrogant, cheeky, disrespectful and impudent (as numerous other reviews here complain about). Restaurants where service is still understood as such, where waiters still have decency, professionalism and the ability to take criticism. Where you would never dare to treat (dissatisfied) guests so rudely. This is ONE restaurant (with bad service) among many (with good service) 🤷🏻‍♀️ P. S. If you google whether burger patties should be eaten medium, the answer is that you should only eat patties fully cooked due to the possible risk of germs/bacteria...

Not a big menu, but there should be something for everyone. Price-performance ratio is right and the service is quick and friendly.

Good home-style and Italian food. Everyone will be full from the large portions, the taste is not world class but it's okay. There is also enough choice for vegetarians (it could be tight for vegans). Priced at around €20 per person with everything included. Dogs are welcome, there is a play area for children and you can sit outside in summer. The favorite restaurant of us and many Hilden residents! You should therefore make a reservation on Sundays

That was a successful evening. We were there with 11 people this evening. The food was served super quickly and even after the meal the service was on the ball and often made sure that we weren't missing anything. 5 stars plus, it makes going out fun again. 👏👏

Even after all these years, the 12 apostles still looks good and well maintained. The pizzas are still good to eat, but they are nothing “special”. As was the case back then, I rarely manage to finish a pizza because they are similar in size to those at l'osteria. One person in our house chose the vegetarian burger and I think the quality of the cuisine is particularly evident in the dishes that aren't chosen so often. Compared to the rest of the menu, this was prepared quite carelessly, tasted just about okay and is probably only there so that vegetarians can eat something. The rest of the 3 vegetarian options are also uncreative (vegetables as if there were nothing else). It would be so easy to offer (almost) all available products as vegetarian, but now, even if you don't make your own, there are plenty of alternatives for animal products that taste good. The service was very attentive, present and not intrusive, which is something I always really like. If you're in the area and hungry, a visit is recommended, but if you're a vegetarian you should look elsewhere. Personally, I wouldn't plan to eat there.

Delicious stone oven pizza with mozzarella cheese. Attentive waiters. Great atmosphere and annoying wasps. Postal space is large. Also great as a vantage point for a walk.

I've been going here for years and yesterday was back for the first time in a long time. The service and food are still great and highly recommended, especially the pizza. However, a small note for improvement would be the following: previously there was always a side salad or at least some vegetables with the main dishes, which I missed this time. Dishes like the Apostle Plate or Geschnetzeltes are served a bit carelessly (meat and a side dish) - some vegetables or salad would be more filling but would also round off the dish.

The restaurant is really recommended; But if people smoke recklessly at the next table (we were there with a small child), the joy is reduced. Unfortunately there is no separate smoking area outside. Too bad!

The two of us ate there today, unfortunately it wasn't a nice evening I've been eating there for over 7 years and have rarely been so disappointed. Waited 25 minutes for drinks to be asked for, then we were served reluctantly and super unfriendly. Then we were moved, and moved again, even though half the store was empty. Later, another waiter apologized for his colleague's behavior by saying, "She's having a bad day today." Half of the grill plate and spare ribs were left behind because the meat was so bland and rubbery. At the end there was no tip and for us only a “Yes then ciao ciao”. Unfortunately my last visit to this restaurant.

The best thing of all: My Pizza Simon was exactly the same size, topping and taste as the pizza on the evening menu. So nothing slimmed down or economy version like some “competitors” do. We think that's very good!

The 12 Apostles in Hilden... a small review based on the Clarification Today, September 8th, 2024 at 7:10 p.m. we visited the 12 Apostles in Hilden. In order to add a little humor to this review, I decided to write the clarification topic based on the biblical theme. Let's start with the entrance... due to the temperatures we decided to sit indoors. After a short discussion with the waitress, we were then allowed to enter the indoor area. However, we quickly felt like Adam and Eve here, because we were quickly evicted from our chosen spot at one of the many free tables for 4 (so that another couple could sit there afterwards who looked like they had more money). The waitresses themselves also had a clear scaral connection, because the friendliness was roughly that of a mother superior in a nuns' school... so far so good. In addition, it should be mentioned that (just as in conservative Catholicism) classical roles are used here. It's not the lady who gets the grilled plate she ordered, but rather the man... even though he had opted for a light dish... this apparently caused a serious crisis of faith among the waitress. Let's get to food. I chose pasta with salmon. Here it became clear to me how Jesus achieved the miracle of multiplying the fish... because purely from the taste perspective, you could certainly have made 40 fish out of the salmon... so it was a bit penetrating. As for the belief that everything gets better if you sprinkle cheese on it... this was NOT confirmed with the amount of parmesan in the pasta. As for the grill plate, it quickly became clear that they were trying to prevent the deadly sin of gluttony. Quite apart from the fact that the piece of turkey meat was clearly comparable to a sermon in a village church on a Wednesday lunchtime... it was simply bland... When it came to paying, you can again draw parallels with clear-cut approaches. The question “can we pay” made the service staff rush to the table faster than any indulgence dealer. The bottom line is that we should then be for 2x 0.4 Cola, 1x bread with ailoi (tasted like that from Popp), 1x pasta with salmon and tomatoes and a well-arranged grill plate a little over 52 on the table in the house... Conclusion: The 12 Apostles was once THE restaurant in Hilden... now it is more of an average gastronomic establishment that is more of a gastro factory than a real gourmet temple. The ambience is beautifully done, but again a sacred comparison... it's like a beautiful old church... beautiful architectural style, known everywhere... but unfortunately no open new ideas... Therefore, in our choice of restaurants, the 12 Apostles clearly only falls into the “Plan B if nothing else is available”

Every now and then we visit this restaurant with our 2 children. But today probably for the last time. 25 minutes before the schnitzel promotion started at 6 p.m. I asked nicely if we could have 3 pizzas and the schnitzel at the promotional price. “No 6 p.m.” was the answer. A “I’m sorry, the system doesn’t work” or “Have a drink in peace, I’ll make it possible for you straight away” would have been great… I didn’t expect such a clumsy answer. Ok...Shortly afterwards when ordering, ask for half of the pizza to be topped differently. the next “no” followed. Never experienced it before. Or are the pizzas put into the oven pre-made. Can't the baker manage to top half of Margherita and the other half with something else? Then we ordered a Bartholomäus without pepperoni. Of course one with pepperoni came. I actually just wanted to get out of there so I wouldn't be a bother. After the waiter listlessly asked if everything was ok, I replied “no” this time. I explained why and he said “ah, I just thought without hot sauce”…I still don’t know what he meant exactly. The eggplant on the pizza was raw and the zucchini was bitter. 2 stars just for the portion size. We asked us to take the rest with us. 10 seconds later he handed me a pizza box. Pizza bad, service worse.

I ordered a Judas pizza. The pizza is really big and was very tasty. On Friday each pizza costs €11.90. The restaurant was well attended and many pizzas were ordered. I can highly recommend The 12 Apostles.

Everything is very harmonious in a triad: quality - price - atmosphere. The food was tasty and enough, the prices were reasonable and the whole thing was rounded off with quick, friendly and personal service. The summer weather and the evening atmosphere on the terrace did the rest. You may have to be a little lucky when finding a parking space. We'll be back.

We visit the 12 Apostles very regularly throughout the year. The price-performance ratio is right. It's great to sit inside and outside. The many long-standing employees serve you with great friendliness. The menu offers a lot of choice and variety. And the restaurant is very dog-friendly, so we like to combine a long walk in the forest with this restaurant, which is located right in the forest.

Actually everything was good except for the seating, which was very run down. The chairs are heavily soiled, some damaged. Otherwise good and inexpensive food.

Here you get drinks such as an espresso that is lukewarm or a special that tastes stale. I think the pizza also tasted better. It's a shame that you no longer really had the feeling that the restaurant really made an effort for the guests. I think people pay more for the great location and the view of the lake than for quality. Too bad.

We were there when it was pretty busy. We sat at a table where there were no chair cushions. The chairs were dirty, so we took the cushions from the neighboring chairs. A service employee came running and loudly warned us that it wasn't possible. He would have to re-equip the chairs, although it wasn't clear to us. I've eaten at the 12 Apostles several times and so far it's always been okay. Today, however, we weren't really happy. Two meals came quickly and weren't really warm and we had to wait almost so long for the children's pizza that we were soon finished eating. After all, when we complained about the cold fries, new ones were brought to us. Since the children's portion was too large, they brought us pizza boxes to pack up. I've never experienced anything like that before. Service doesn't seem to be very important. Too bad! My family and I probably won't be eating here again anytime soon.

We recently held our wedding reception at 12 Apostles. A few weeks and then again 2 days beforehand we discussed everything in the restaurant. Every single one of our wishes was taken into account and everything was implemented. A few of our family members decorated the tables, but the staff had already made them very nice in advance. Food top. Service top. Everything great. There was always someone at our table, even though the beer garden was getting more and more crowded. Thank you for everything!!!

The pizza is great! The store is so crowded during peak season that you have to wait in line for the terrace. But the waiters try hard to organize everything neatly, so the waiting time is hardly worth mentioning.

Very nice beer garden in summer, special dishes that change daily throughout the week. The quality of the food was completely fine, as was the service. There are parking spaces for wheelchair users and ground-level access (to the beer garden anyway, to the restaurant with a ramp).

First the positive: beautifully located in the forest, staff very quick and friendly. The negative: the FOOD! Below a fast food level. All dishes are ready-made meals from the wholesaler. Deep fryer, fry, put ready-made sauce over it... that was it. I had minced steak with a disgusting factor. A pink slime oozed out from the inside and fried dry on the outside. The “cheese” was sprinkled over it as a white trace element. I saw the product once in the metro... in the TK. Unappetizing. Maybe you can eat pizza there. The rest is from the refrigerator shelf and into the deep fryer. A nice place to drink beer. Eat - never again!!!

Recession was from 2021. For whatever reason, it wasn't posted. But it is unchanged. We were there last night. The reception was so-so. We had our Corona proof ready, but at first it was ignored. Then the waiter went first and we just followed instinctively. Without being asked. Shortly before the table he asked for the evidence. The atmosphere is nice and cozy, hence the stars. The service came after a few minutes. The drinks were brought very quickly. The food didn't take long to arrive either, but that usually means it wasn't fresh. Unfortunately, that's what it tasted like. My liver slices were completely dry and hard, and the sauce was salty. My husband's schnitzel was very dark, the breading was puffy, the sauce was salty and the fries were floury to raw on the inside. When we said this we were nicely asked if we would like an espresso, coffee or 2 scoops of ice cream as compensation. We thought it was nice, but we couldn't get enough of it. We then wanted to pay and when we didn't leave a tip, the lady suddenly became a bit rude and left quickly. We received nothing apart from the EC receipt. So no receipt. But we thought about it and the price seemed justified.

The food is ok, the location - especially in the outdoor area - is nice. The service, however, is catastrophic. Drink in a glass with ZERO carbonation. After complaining, the waitress comes with a body-temperature cola into which a fizzy tablet has probably just been thrown. The drink bubbled non-stop for about 5 minutes, although it didn't taste like normal carbonation. The waiters were pretty rude/unfriendly, especially the younger woman. You have to quickly draw the attention of the waiters flying by and you don't really feel friendly. Only the "old" waiters who have been here for years work well and have mastered the "art of the smile"! We ate there regularly for years. That's it, somewhere else you will receive friendlier welcome and service. Very attractive in terms of price!

After we visited this restaurant again after a few years, we had different experiences. The first time, almost everything outside was occupied. We were served promptly and attentively and everything was to our satisfaction. A week later, however, 80% of the tables were free and there was no service for over 20 minutes. This despite the fact that several employees were playing on their cell phones, smoking or drinking coffee. When we asked if someone could come, we were told we were not responsible but would pass it on. And actually, just 10 minutes later, someone showed up and brought us the cards. So it dragged you on throughout our entire visit, right down to the bill. Our conclusion: food and drinks are good and plentiful, but the feel-good factor clearly depends on the staff.

I have been coming to this restaurant for years. Last time I was a bit disappointed with the service, but yesterday they really took the cake. The somewhat "older" waiter was tired/tired, which made him seem very unfriendly. The food we had twice was Schlemmerschnitzel with 5 mushrooms and sauce shot on the schnitzel so unappetizing. The whole sauce had to be smeared off; 5 others could have eaten it too. That's how much it was, the old oranges were totally dry. One had croquettes instead of fries which were cold. But the worst thing was the toilets. The smell, full trash cans everywhere and paper thrown next to them, the toilet seats all dirty and sprinkled. I clean myself and I'm sure no one cleaned there during the day. You literally walked through piss in the women's toilet. Just disgusting, I didn't go there. When I came out and said "ih" all I got was a grin. Totally disappointed for the second but also last time.

Food was okay so far. The location is actually nice, but to the dismay of the employees it is completely milked. The staff was generally quite stressed and you could hear arguments, gossip and complaints right at the table. The seat cushions around us were already being collected and the umbrellas were being closed. Completely understanding, since we were there a little later!
