Restaurant Review: Sriphen’s Thai Cuisine Rating: 1 star Ambiance: Sriphen’s Thai Kitchen is located in a busy corner of the city and is quite attractive from the outside. Unfortunately, the first impression is misleading. Inside, the restaurant feels a bit dated and the decorations are sparse and uninspired. The dining room is poorly lit, creating an uncomfortable atmosphere. The tables are simply set and offer little comfort. Service: The service was one of the biggest disappointments of my visit. The staff seemed inattentive and unfriendly. After we were seated it took far too long for someone to take our order. Despite repeated attempts to get the waiters' attention, we were often ignored. When our food finally arrived, the dishes were placed on the table without any explanation or greeting. Eat: Unfortunately, the food wasn't convincing either. The menu offers a variety of traditional Thai dishes, which initially sounded promising. But the reality was sobering. The starter, a simple som tam (papaya salad), was inedibly spicy and the papaya wasn't fresh. The main course, a Pad Thai, was disappointingly tasteless and oily. The noodles were soggy and the portion was very small compared to other Thai restaurants. The green curry was also a letdown: it was watery, the vegetable pieces were too big and hard, and the meat tasted like it had been prepared for days. Value for money: Given the quality of the food and the poor service, the prices at Sriphen's Thai Kitchen are completely exorbitant. There are many other Thai restaurants in the city that offer much better value for money. Cleanliness: There is also room for improvement when it comes to cleanliness. The tables were sticky and dirty and the plates and cutlery did not appear to have been thoroughly cleaned. The toilets were in a deplorable condition and are in desperate need of a thorough cleaning and renovation. Conclusion: Sriphen’s Thai Kitchen is unfortunately a restaurant that disappoints in almost every area. From the unfriendly service to the tasteless food to the lack of cleanliness, there are numerous reasons why I cannot recommend this restaurant. If you are looking for authentic Thai cuisine, you should look for an alternative.
