We had planned a nice family celebration for today and were registered at Catalana for the first time. We had already made our reservation a few months earlier using the contact form because we needed space for 10 people. Mr. Feldner had called a few days earlier and wanted to know who was a vegetarian or pescatarian and whether there were any intolerances, which I thought was very good. When I asked how much the price would be for the tapas evening per person, Mr Felnder said €40 to €60, depending on how hungry we were. Dessert extra. So far so good. Now we came into the restaurant and were told that we were booked into the other building. We were the only guests there and it was very cold and uncomfortable in the small room. Even after a while, the small radiator didn't get any warmer and our very courteous and extremely attentive waiter ran over to the main restaurant to let us know. He said the room hadn't been used for 6 months and would therefore take a little longer to heat. But the boss would take care of it. Even after another hour it was still cold and some of us still kept our winter jackets on. It was also noticeable that we didn't get any menu cards and the drink prices or the offer were therefore not transparent. We hadn't ordered any special requests, apart from bread. Our waiter had to walk back and forth to the main building every time we went. The food was very tasty, but some of it could have been warmer. Some of the vegetarian dishes arrived late. But the very good quality of the food made up for it. Now we wanted to pay, but that was only possible in the main building and so we were asked to go there! It was cozy and warm there, and we really noticed how disadvantaged we were) And then: The bill was almost €960. At no time did we order any additional courses, and we were never asked whether we wanted an intermediate course or something similar. want. So, as previously communicated, we could assume around 40-45€/person, right? The bill: Tapas (10 people): €634.40 Dessert (8x): €41.20 The rest were our drinks: €283.30 (note: 0.5 liters of water in a carafe: €5.50) The boss, Mr Feldner, claimed he knew nothing about the heating problem. When I asked why the tapas were so expensive, he said that dessert wasn't included in the offer. Even my objection that there was a lack of transparency in the price/offer was not shown to be any understanding on his part, except: It would always be like that with them. After my comment that we had expected him to have been able to check on everything in our room, he said that he had had guests in the main restaurant. Oh right. So we weren't one of his guests and even had to run after a bill of €960 (!) after sitting in the cold dining room for 3 hours... bottomless. It's a shame about the good food, but we can't support this management a second time.
