The food was OK for the price, but the service and the bad mood of the landlady ruined everything. Even though we announced an allergy when we arrived, she was pissed that we didn't say it on the phone and served the food anyway. unthinkable!!!

Well, where do I start? When we were at Malathounis for the first time 15 years ago, my verdict was: sophisticated, sophisticated cuisine, but it's still a long way from a star. In particular, there is a lack of variety of flavors and sophistication. Now we were back there and basically nothing had changed. Sophisticated, but little variety of flavors and sophistication. There was no kick or “wow” effect in any gear. It was OK, but nothing more. And what was “modern Greek” or “Greek” about that? OK, there was a moussaka as a side dish with the (stringy) mini cheeks of lamb. But otherwise? What has changed, however, is that there has been a star on the door for 10 years. And that just doesn't make sense to me. Where Michelin is normally so picky, it seems to be turning a blind eye here. It's all far too staid and unsatisfactory. I can immediately think of at least three starless restaurants in the Rems-Murr district that are on a completely different level, not just in terms of cuisine, but also in terms of their host qualities. Because here too there is something wrong. The woman of the house is friendly and nice, but has a time problem because of her lone wolf existence. And so the courses and drinks are simply thrown away without saying a word about what is being served. It's a shame, because this should be a given at star level. Likewise, if you spend four to five hours in a restaurant, I expect appropriately comfortable seating. But these are neither the benches (hard) nor the chairs (coccyx-unfriendly). About the wine: In retrospect, I'm annoyed that I didn't order a wine from the extremely extensive and comparatively cheap wine list, because the wine accompaniment was very meaningless. The wines were all irrelevant and uninteresting. On the plus side: In contrast to some other restaurants, the price for the wine accompaniment is very moderate. But what's the point if the wines don't taste good? Speaking of drink prices: €8.50 for a bottle of mineral water is outrageous, even in the star environment. What remained after this evening? The feeling of having somehow experienced nothing half or whole. €500 less in the account. And back pain.
