A super-beautiful and cozy restaurant. The food was outstanding. We all had different dishes, and the mussels, the zander on melted savoy cabbage, and my mashed potatoes with endive were all delicious. We enjoyed every moment. Thank you!

We had a truly wonderful visit! The kitchen accidentally prepared a different dish, but I had it anyway, and it tasted simply outstanding! As an apology, they even offered us dessert on the house, which we were very pleased about. The atmosphere is very nice and cozy, and the staff are consistently friendly, attentive, and have a great sense of humor. A very, very good restaurant, absolutely recommended!

I visited the Zur Laterne restaurant in Duisburg and had the brewery platter – highly recommended! I particularly liked the hearty, homemade cuisine – exactly what you'd expect from a good brewery. The service was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was cozy and inviting. Overall, a thoroughly enjoyable visit – I'll definitely be back.

A wonderful German stube. The service was incredibly friendly. The food was generously portioned and delicious. One downside: because it was so busy, we had to wait a long time (an hour) for our main course. Definitely something to keep in mind. I'll definitely go back next time.

The food was good, but the service wasn’t great. It wasn’t very busy but even for a beer we had to wait over 10 minutes after ordering. And when they made a mistake with one of our drinks, the reaction wasn’t very nice or apologetic - the waitress instead yelled over to her colleague asking if I was saying the truth. That made the situation uncomfortable.

The waiters were super nice. Ordered a jager schnitzel, which was a bit chewy and the breading didn't really stick. The fries seemed a bit cheap to us. The mushroom sauce tasted good.

We had a table reservation and waited about 50 minutes. Even so, those who arrived later still got their meals, and we had to wait even longer. The manager's son was very rude and nasty. But two waitresses were nice and friendly.

Since the review was reported by a guest, here's my observation: There were four of us there one evening, two of the four dishes were out (and that was on a Saturday at 6 p.m.), and when we asked for the vegetarian option, the meat was simply omitted. Of course, at the same price. The question about ingredients related to pregnancy could not be answered.

A fantastic, authentic restaurant with super-responsive, competent, and friendly staff. We sat in the lovely outdoor area. Everything was as you'd expect. A clean table with a tablecloth and subtle decorations. The delicious food arrived shortly after our drinks. The portions were a good size, nicely presented, and hot. Reasonable prices. We'd be happy to come back.

We came in, it wasn't busy, and were seated in the back corner. After we got our tickets, we weren't served for over 20 minutes. The lady who seated us sat at the front and apparently didn't feel she was in charge. Then we left. A very unpleasant experience.

We had dinner at this German restaurant later in the evening. We had a delicious schnitzel and plenty of other options on the menu. There was a slight mix-up with our drink order, but it was quickly resolved (free of charge) by the waiter.

Admittedly, Duisburg may not be the most beautiful city in Germany. But that's precisely why you shouldn't miss the few real insider tips – and the Gasthaus zur Laterne is definitely one of them! The waiters may not exactly have the famous Viennese charm, but the delicious beer is quickly on the table – and that's what counts. The atmosphere is simply cozy. The colorful windows and the dark interior make you feel immediately at home. Almost medieval, with a traditional touch that stands out pleasantly from the otherwise rather modern, oriental flair of the city center. The food is fantastic! The fried potatoes deserve special mention – truly a rarity these days, perfection. At the Laterne, they are exactly as they should be: crispy, with bacon and onions, and a delicate buttery aroma – a real treat. If you can't manage to become a "Green Lantern," you might leave this place as a "Blue Lantern."

I come from the south and have already eaten a few onion roasts...BUT I never thought that I would eat the best in Duisburg. He won me over from the first bite! Apart from that, everything else was great. The service, the drinks, the atmosphere were great and the price was absolutely fair for the taste you get! I will come again! We were looking for a schnitzel and came to Lantern. The first impression was: 'Oops, are they even open?' The waitress assigned us a table and we ordered a starter and two schnitzels. The food arrived very quickly and hot. Unfortunately the starter was forgotten, which was probably because the waitress hadn't taken any notes. I ate my schnitzel with complete enjoyment, but the cream and mushroom sauce wasn't quite to my taste. However, my wife agreed. A small negative point for me is the rather disinterested mood of the waitress, which didn't exactly brighten up our evening. All in all, we would come back because of the delicious food. 😊

I can definitely recommend this restaurant. The trip from Dresden was worth it. Delicious food (we had wild boar ragout with red cabbage and wonderfully crispy rösti with delicate cranberries in a sauce perfectly matched to the meat), very friendly, courteous, and attentive service, and a wonderful atmosphere rounded off this visit. I'd be happy to come back here again.

The meat is very tasty, there is no pig smell, and the portion is so huge that I really couldn’t eat it until the end. These are all good. But the skin is not crispy at all. It is even very hard. It was so hard that it scratched my mouth. This is very bad. I eat this dish just for the crispy skin, but the result is not crispy at all. The price of 24 euros is not too cheap. Yes, so I won’t come again next time.

Been here for the second time and fell in again after the last disappointment! The first time I had kidneys that weren't completely clean and smelled like urine and it was NOT edible! I haven't received any money back! The second time I had the variation of game with cabbage. 2 of the 3 pieces of meat were completely fried and hard! I can NOT understand the good reviews! And if I pay almost €40 for a dish! I did NOT receive a refund or price reduction both times! I will avoid this *restaurant* from now on! It seems like the chef is overwhelmed. For whatever reason. Service was quite ok, although you had to wait a long time until someone showed up to see who you wanted, but they were friendly.

Impudence! We had ordered pumpkin soup and were really shocked and speechless when we saw it. A huge plate with a blob of soup in it. It was not possible to dip the spoon into the soup. My companion had only ordered soup and was looking forward to it. But we immediately lost our appetite when we saw the portion. I ordered another portion of rösti with salmon and was disappointed there too. A rosti from the pack and a slice of salmon. We felt really cheated. And then there's a cheeky waitress who probably doesn't feel like doing her job. The good reviews written here are incomprehensible to me!
