A nice restaurant with very good cuisine.

The meat is very tasty, there is no pig smell, and the portion is so huge that I really couldn’t eat it until the end. These are all good. But the skin is not crispy at all. It is even very hard. It was so hard that it scratched my mouth. This is very bad. I eat this dish just for the crispy skin, but the result is not crispy at all. The price of 24 euros is not too cheap. Yes, so I won’t come again next time.

Been here for the second time and fell in again after the last disappointment! The first time I had kidneys that weren't completely clean and smelled like urine and it was NOT edible! I haven't received any money back! The second time I had the variation of game with cabbage. 2 of the 3 pieces of meat were completely fried and hard! I can NOT understand the good reviews! And if I pay almost €40 for a dish! I did NOT receive a refund or price reduction both times! I will avoid this *restaurant* from now on! It seems like the chef is overwhelmed. For whatever reason. Service was quite ok, although you had to wait a long time until someone showed up to see who you wanted, but they were friendly.

Home cooking at a high level! There's something for everyone on the menu - with regularly changing seasonal and regional dishes. Service is very attentive and friendly. Definitely worth a visit!

The food and service was really great, the restaurant was very full, we had reserved a table for 7 p.m. but had to wait another 30 minutes. That was the only drawback, the food and service were otherwise top. Happy to come back 👍

Impudence! We had ordered pumpkin soup and were really shocked and speechless when we saw it. A huge plate with a blob of soup in it. It was not possible to dip the spoon into the soup. My companion had only ordered soup and was looking forward to it. But we immediately lost our appetite when we saw the portion. I ordered another portion of rösti with salmon and was disappointed there too. A rosti from the pack and a slice of salmon. We felt really cheated. And then there's a cheeky waitress who probably doesn't feel like doing her job. The good reviews written here are incomprehensible to me!

Mega delicious starters. Service was simply top. Gladly again! We ate here for the 5th anniversary. The dessert sorbet trilogy with homemade sorbet ice cream in 3 flavors is enough for 2 people and is brilliantly served on a nice, large plate.

We went to Lantern again after a long time for Christmas dinner with friends. 🎄 From the reservation to the service to the food: everything was excellent! Whether venison medallions or roulades, the food was incredibly tasty, to the point and cleverly prepared. The service staff are polite, committed and, for example, bring everyone's food at the same time. So also good organization in the background! We'd love to come back! And greetings to the chef Adam! ✨ PS: Since we are flexitarians, this wasn't a problem for us, but apart from one dish there is nothing for vegetarians/vegans here. We just ended up here spontaneously and ate, the food was great, the service and the atmosphere was very pleasant. Unfortunately it's a bit expensive.

Typical food as we know it from the past, which is rarely found anywhere else on the menu. For example, mashed endive, Rhenish-style sauerbraten, beef roulade or Rhenish-style mussels. Large portions, reasonable prices and very good quality. Only vegetarians and vegans could be offered something more, such as mashed endive instead of bacon and black pudding with fried eggs. Or a mushroom pan with spaetzle. Very friendly staff. Even without a reservation you can get a seat, even if you have to wait 5 minutes.

The meat of the knuckle was very tasty but the skin was tough like "leather" and unfortunately not as crispy as we had on previous visits...unfortunately! We had the impression that the service didn't really take our advice about this seriously?

Wonderful ambience and top food! The service could be a little more attentive when it comes to drinks. In some cases we had to place orders again, but due to the sociability it was hardly a problem.

The Lantern is a rustic inn with great Rhenish cuisine. The ambience is unique and takes you back to the time of the breweries in Duisburg. The service is friendly and attentive and the food is really tasty and authentic. A great recommendation. Anyone who has never been there should definitely try it and anyone who has been there before will always come back.

A rustic, cozy inn that warmly welcomes you with friendly staff and delicious food. I had a Spanish starter, shrimp in olive oil with garlic and chili. For the main course, the Rhenish sauerbraten with red cabbage and mashed potatoes. I can only recommend it.

Really cozy restaurant. Traditional German cuisine, fresh and super tasty. I had endive with black pudding, perfect. From the next table the smell of the roulade.... Today I will also try the bacon pancakes and the sauerbraten. Definitely recommended!!!

Solid, good home cooking in the heart of Duisburg. The veal schnitzel was to die for; like the beer on tap (KöPi or Diebels Alt). Some of the fried potatoes just grazed the pan and were almost raw. The side salad was rather small. Great atmosphere and well shielded from the madness in Sonnenwall.

We sat outside for lunch to enjoy some schnitzel. They made it with chicken to our order (and veal) and took a lot of time to explain all the sausages. We had a delicious lunch, huge portions and satisfying experience. The coleslaw salad is amazing!

Delicious German meal 'schnitzel zur laterne' that was really German. 2 schnitzels with onion, egg, bacon, vegetables and fried potatoes. It was delicious (almost too much). Friendly staff and a real German atmosphere.

Situated right in the town centre. If seated outside it can be quiet noisy and that can either create or destroy an atmosphere depending on what you prefer. Struggled to see what distinguished from any other restaurant serving "local" food but everything was fine.

It was my first time eating Schwein Haksen and it was so delicious... The portion is really big, so please order one Hakse for two people!!! Otherwise, you can order the leftovers to be packaged, so make sure to eat them cleanly!! Haha it was a good experience 🤤🤤

The dishes are abundant and the quality of the product excellent. The schnitzel was tender and juicy and the knuckle and its garnish were delicious. We will be back!

Very tasty food. There are also dishes on the menu that you don't find very often. The guest room is rustically furnished. We had a lovely evening. The service was very nice. The restaurant is barrier-free except for two steps at the entrance. The toilet was not wheelchair accessible.

Unfortunately the food was very poor. We had beef roulade, which was unfortunately very dry. The sauce was quite salty. It completely covered up the roulade. Although the price has now increased significantly, the food was unfortunately very disappointing. It's a shame, we used to love coming here. What could be better: our waiter wasn't unfriendly, but not friendly either. At a restaurant in this price category, I would also expect that the dirt or stains on the dining table would be removed by the guests in front of us... but that wasn't the case... we ate excellently on a stained table and it wasn't that bad either Interested in whether we liked it or not... but we couldn't have said no... 3 people... just over 150 € everything should be right... at least in my opinion

The food was tasty, the service was excellent, and the staff was extremely kind! Was a great experience, I can only recommend it! We tried a variety of local food, I tried a tasty pie filled with meat from a blood sausage, and my girlfriend had the typical Schnitzel! The portions are unexpectedly large, so be prepared and only go there if you are ready to eat a lot! :D

We ended up in this corner of Diusburg because of a business trip and after a 6 hour drive we were just hungry. There should be something nearby with middle-class German charm. After a quick google, we came across this restaurant. A 7-minute walk from our hotel, it was easy to reach and suited our tastes. Even without a reservation we got a table and the service was served promptly. The atmosphere is harmonious and everything is of the same quality, the prices are moderate and the food: simply delicious, a nice balancing act of home-style German cuisine that also likes to try something new without drifting too far away from the traditional way. As an example, I had a wild boar - orange goulash on homemade tagliatelle. Good and tasty, and a decent portion. In addition, the staff was friendly, attentive and simply very warm. That's exactly what you want when you arrive in a foreign city after a long journey. We'd love to come back. Keep it up.

We don't come here often, but always. The food tastes really excellent and seems to be conjured up on the plate by expert hands. We especially have to praise the salads here, excellent. This time there were 5 of us, 2 adults, 2 children and a baby. We had 3 main meals, a starter and drinks. In the end the bill came to just under 110 euros. Of course it's not cheap and we can't afford it every week, but we're happy to pay for it the few times we're there because the quality is right.

There was nothing wrong with the food, it was expensive but very tasty. The service was hopelessly overwhelmed because 8 guests arrived within 10 minutes and the dining room was poorly heated. The young woman made a real effort, but was let down by the other colleague. He poured the drinks but left them on the counter. After a few minutes he finally made himself comfortable and brought the glasses to the table one by one!! The man with the beard (probably the boss) was so busy with his cell phone the whole time that he didn't even notice, or didn't care. So it was a rather unsatisfactory experience for us and we won't be coming back despite the good food.

We were regulars at the "Lanterne" many years ago and have now eaten there again after a long time. Unfortunately, we lack the gastronomy concept: what kind of core kitchen is this? Italian? German?Greek?Balkan?Spanish?Portuguese? Kitchen. or in short: a little from each country? It's a shame, because the kitchen doesn't cook badly. Way too big a menu. Service top.
