Wonderful ambience and top food! The service could be a little more attentive when it comes to drinks. In some cases we had to place orders again, but due to the sociability it was hardly a problem.

The Lantern is a rustic inn with great Rhenish cuisine. The ambience is unique and takes you back to the time of the breweries in Duisburg. The service is friendly and attentive and the food is really tasty and authentic. A great recommendation. Anyone who has never been there should definitely try it and anyone who has been there before will always come back.

A rustic, cozy inn that warmly welcomes you with friendly staff and delicious food. I had a Spanish starter, shrimp in olive oil with garlic and chili. For the main course, the Rhenish sauerbraten with red cabbage and mashed potatoes. I can only recommend it.

Really cozy restaurant. Traditional German cuisine, fresh and super tasty. I had endive with black pudding, perfect. From the next table the smell of the roulade.... Today I will also try the bacon pancakes and the sauerbraten. Definitely recommended!!!

Solid, good home cooking in the heart of Duisburg. The veal schnitzel was to die for; like the beer on tap (KöPi or Diebels Alt). Some of the fried potatoes just grazed the pan and were almost raw. The side salad was rather small. Great atmosphere and well shielded from the madness in Sonnenwall.

We sat outside for lunch to enjoy some schnitzel. They made it with chicken to our order (and veal) and took a lot of time to explain all the sausages. We had a delicious lunch, huge portions and satisfying experience. The coleslaw salad is amazing!

Delicious German meal 'schnitzel zur laterne' that was really German. 2 schnitzels with onion, egg, bacon, vegetables and fried potatoes. It was delicious (almost too much). Friendly staff and a real German atmosphere.

Situated right in the town centre. If seated outside it can be quiet noisy and that can either create or destroy an atmosphere depending on what you prefer. Struggled to see what distinguished from any other restaurant serving "local" food but everything was fine.

The dishes are abundant and the quality of the product excellent. The schnitzel was tender and juicy and the knuckle and its garnish were delicious. We will be back!

It was my first time eating Schwein Haksen and it was so delicious... The portion is really big, so please order one Hakse for two people!!! Otherwise, you can order the leftovers to be packaged, so make sure to eat them cleanly!! Haha it was a good experience 🤤🤤

Very tasty food. There are also dishes on the menu that you don't find very often. The guest room is rustically furnished. We had a lovely evening. The service was very nice. The restaurant is barrier-free except for two steps at the entrance. The toilet was not wheelchair accessible.

I went to dinner with my friend and what can I say, the food was great, we had knuckle and schnitzel lantern and a few beers with schnapps, thank you for the lovely evening.

Unfortunately the food was very poor. We had beef roulade, which was unfortunately very dry. The sauce was quite salty. It completely covered up the roulade. Although the price has now increased significantly, the food was unfortunately very disappointing. It's a shame, we used to love coming here. The service was a bit overwhelmed, we had to ask several times that we wanted to pay. Overall we won't be coming back.

Not cheap (!), but really delicious food. I had a brilliant Wiener Schnitzel with a very tasty, fresh salad... it couldn't be better! What could be better: our waiter wasn't unfriendly, but not friendly either. At a restaurant in this price category, I would also expect that the dirt or stains on the dining table would be removed by the guests in front of us... but that wasn't the case... we ate excellently on a stained table and it wasn't that bad either Interested in whether we liked it or not... but we couldn't have said no... 3 people... just over 150 € everything should be right... at least in my opinion

The food was tasty, the service was excellent, and the staff was extremely kind! Was a great experience, I can only recommend it! We tried a variety of local food, I tried a tasty pie filled with meat from a blood sausage, and my girlfriend had the typical Schnitzel! The portions are unexpectedly large, so be prepared and only go there if you are ready to eat a lot! :D

We ended up in this corner of Diusburg because of a business trip and after a 6 hour drive we were just hungry. There should be something nearby with middle-class German charm. After a quick google, we came across this restaurant. A 7-minute walk from our hotel, it was easy to reach and suited our tastes. Even without a reservation we got a table and the service was served promptly. The atmosphere is harmonious and everything is of the same quality, the prices are moderate and the food: simply delicious, a nice balancing act of home-style German cuisine that also likes to try something new without drifting too far away from the traditional way. As an example, I had a wild boar - orange goulash on homemade tagliatelle. Good and tasty, and a decent portion. In addition, the staff was friendly, attentive and simply very warm. That's exactly what you want when you arrive in a foreign city after a long journey. We'd love to come back. Keep it up.

We don't come here often, but always. The food tastes really excellent and seems to be conjured up on the plate by expert hands. We especially have to praise the salads here, excellent. This time there were 5 of us, 2 adults, 2 children and a baby. We had 3 main meals, a starter and drinks. In the end the bill came to just under 110 euros. Of course it's not cheap and we can't afford it every week, but we're happy to pay for it the few times we're there because the quality is right.

There was nothing wrong with the food, it was expensive but very tasty. The service was hopelessly overwhelmed because 8 guests arrived within 10 minutes and the dining room was poorly heated. The young woman made a real effort, but was let down by the other colleague. He poured the drinks but left them on the counter. After a few minutes he finally made himself comfortable and brought the glasses to the table one by one!! The man with the beard (probably the boss) was so busy with his cell phone the whole time that he didn't even notice, or didn't care. So it was a rather unsatisfactory experience for us and we won't be coming back despite the good food.

We were regulars at the "Lanterne" many years ago and have now eaten there again after a long time. Unfortunately, we lack the gastronomy concept: what kind of core kitchen is this? Italian? German?Greek?Balkan?Spanish?Portuguese? Kitchen. or in short: a little from each country? It's a shame, because the kitchen doesn't cook badly. Way too big a menu. Service top.

Tolles, deftiges Essen, gute Lage in der Innenstadt, traditionelle Einrichtung, schön urig. Ich mags gerne so, kommt wohl daher, dass die in der Familiengeschichte ein pasr Gastronomen unterwegs waren mit genau solch einem Typ Gaststätte. Wir kommen gerne wieder!

Etwas hochpreisig, aber lecker 😋 eine Frikadelle für mehr als € 20 habe ich noch nie gegessen ( auch wenn sie vom Wildschwein war) Gut gezapftes Bier 🍺 und mehrere sehr freundliche Bedienungen haben den Besuch abgerundet. Empfehlenswert.

Eten is ouderwets goed! Echter is de wat gezette vrouw in de bediening zeer kortaf en lijkt alles vermoeiend te vinden…jonge Turkse dame wel zeer vriendelijk en professioneel!

Rustikale Gaststätte mit schöner Auswahl an Gerichten. Schneller und aufmerksamer Service. Unterschiedliche Fleischgerichte haben alle sehr gut geschmeckt und waren gut portioniert. Wir hatten reserviert, es war bis auf den letzten Platz belegt, trotzdem konnte man sich am Tisch gut unterhalten.

Als je in Duitsland bent en je wilt echt Duits eten dan ben je hier echt aan het juiste adres. Heerlijk echt traditioneel eten van grote kwaliteit! En, vriendelijk en behulpzaam personeel en er hangt een goede sfeer. Ga langs en geniet van dit heerlijke eten!

Mitten in der Duisburger Innenstadt liegt das Restaurant fast versteckt, doch eine 4,5-Sterne-Bewertung führte uns glücklicherweise hier hin. Als Hauptgerichte bestellten wir eine Haxe aus dem Ofen mit Sauerkraut/Kartoffelstampf sowie zwei Mal die Rinderroulade mit Rotkohl/Klößen. Die Speisekarte bietet zudem u.a. Muscheln, Schnitzel und niederheinische/lokale Klassiker. Das Essen ist einfach wahnsinnig gut, sowohl gemessen an der Portionsgröße, als auch Geschmack und Darbietung. Volle 5 von 5 Sternen dafür! Gleiches gilt für den Apfelstrudel. Ebenfalls gelobt werden muss der freundliche, professionelle und aufmerksame Service. Die Mitarbeiter sind auf Zack und man merkt, dass hier Fachpersonal am Werk ist. Es empfiehlt sich zu reservieren, da das Restaurant an einem Dienstagabend gut besucht war. Wir kommen definitiv wieder!

Trotzdessen, dass das Restaurant voll war, wurde das Essen schnell an unseren Tisch gebracht. Die Muscheln, genauso wie die Rinderroulade, waren kurz und knapp gesagt köstlich. Auch der Service war nett und zuvorkommend. Chapeau!

War dort mit meiner Familie und wurde wunderbar bewirtet! Angenehme ruhige Atmosphäre, sehr leckeres Essen (ich empfehle das Wiener Schnitzel) und zuvorkommender Service! Meiner Meinung nach ein absoluter Geheimtipp in der Gegend!
