Zur Hockermühle - La Piscina in Amberg

I was there at Christmas, the atmosphere was pretty good and the food was good. I always got fries 🍟 from the bathroom. You can also sit on the terrace and there's a snack shop there too.

La Piscina is always worth a visit. The price/performance ratio is excellent. The pizzas are truly delicious. The salad is also quite large. The schnitzels are also incredibly tasty and generous. Our dog is always welcome, too.

We've been here several times and will gladly return. We were always served super quickly. The food was always excellent. Whether inside or outside, the seating is always very comfortable.

It used to be better. The service was very unfriendly and clown-like. We also waited forever for our order.

We were a group of 5 people. Everyone had an appetizer and a pizza. The appetizer took 30 minutes, and the pizza about 60 minutes. It wasn't even that busy. The kitchen assistants and cooks sat next to us in the beer garden and smoked the entire evening. After a while, we also became impatient because it was outrageous. And as if that wasn't enough, the pizza was a lifeless dough with an excessive amount of oil and ham. We agreed not to come back.

Extremely rude and verbally combative staff, extremely disrespectful. Customer service is not existent, first off, the lady working the front, not only was she rude but she seemed annoyed as well, we waited over 20 minutes for someone to take our order, once the guy came to take our order he was not friendly, my partner asked if we could order a pizza for our son as he was hungry and the guy gave us an attitude and said that he was not going to take our order as there are more people waiting. All this with an attitude, then he has the nerves to insult my partner! Like it's a joke! We stood up and left. Then the guy continues to mumble some crap, but we just did not waste our energy with people like that. It used to be a friendly environment, the food back then was really good. If you have staffing issues, then I recommend you hire people and manage your personnel cost and put some money in your bottom line, or you can just shut down your "restaurant" and call it a day. Ultimately, it was a very disgusting experience, will not ever set foot in that place, friends have been notified of the terrible and combative service from the staff there. If you need training on how to properly run your facility and provide excellent customer service I can recommend some good people that can help. Overall your combative attitude and disregard of customers is straight out garbage.

Staff is rude, disrespectful and verbally combative. Long wait times and complimented with a side of attitude from the staff. Tip, if you are busy and short staffed, kindly let customers know it's going to be a long wait, so like that people can either wait or go, don't just disregard people waiting and then have the audacity to be rude, disrespectful and verbally combative. If you need people, hire people, if you don't have staff, limit the customers entrance, but either way, if you treat customers the way we were treated, I can only imagine how you would treat the kitchen staff. I wouldn't recommend this place, unless you like to be mistreated and disrespected.

Actually a nice restaurant, we used to go there often and enjoyed it. But after today I won't be going back in the future. The waiter/host(?) was never particularly friendly, but today he was really rude. We got pizza for the office and we've been ordering the same thing for 10 years, especially our boss who has never eaten any other pizza. We received the wrong order and the man refused to correct it!!! He wanted to imply that I had ordered the wrong thing and was incredibly arrogant. That was 100% not the case, there were 5 people in the room when we ordered. You can mess something up, but then argue about it in front of other guests and make stupid comments? In the end he put the missing ingredients on and put the pizzas back in the oven, but they were burnt. What a shame!!!!

We arrived with our company (about 25 people) on time for dinner after making a reservation. The service was very distant, but attentive and seemingly not very pleased with our arrival. It felt like it was even annoying. The various orders for drinks and food had to be taken according to precise instructions! The food was okay. The portions were very large, which seems to be the most important thing for most people. Yes, the large schnitzels are probably the best thing here. Unfortunately, I don't go to Italian restaurants for them. In the Italian salad, I missed, as usual, oil, balsamic vinegar... spices, and so on. ...Italian salad? After the main courses were served, we were immediately informed that the kitchen would be closing shortly. Drinks after the main course didn't really fit into our after-work plans. Sorry, but we felt like we were being brushed off. Many of us won't be coming again. It's actually a shame, since I'm often on the road and used to things completely differently!

Actually, it's a nice restaurant with a good location and sumptuous food. If it weren't for the tall, bad-tempered waiter with the meter-long flag who has ruined our experience several times! Luckily, good food can be found elsewhere!

Definitely worth a visit, if you love large portions, I had the Viennese style schnitzel with country potatoes and it was more than enough! Friendly staff, but it took a little longer there were around 15 people (+1 hour waiting time)

I went to eat, it's very nicely decorated, very full and loud. That's something for families with children, the portions are very large. In my opinion, the normal portions would be enough. I don't want to take food with me every time because you just can't manage it. It doesn't come on plates but only on huge platters I haven't eaten natural schnitzel, but if you look at the plate you're already full until you start eating. That doesn't mean the Italian is bad, but it's for people who want to eat a lot for good money. It's better to eat where the portions are normal. But I have to say everyone just has to try it out and see if it suits them.

The restaurant is really highly recommended, we go there every 4 weeks with our women's regulars and every time it's a pleasure to eat, no matter what! ,but the pizzas are our favorite!!! Compliments also to the kitchen!!! Gisela is a great landlady and Pavel is great in service, always a good ear and a smile 😃 on his face, so that you feel really comfortable, keep it up!!! We remain loyal!

One of the best restaurants in Amberg! Both the pasta and the pizzas and schnitzels are highly recommended and delicious. The portions are large and everything is freshly prepared. The service is absolutely commendable! We will continue to come there regularly to eat and pick up orders in the future. Great recommendation!

Ich liebe die Schnitzel in diesem Haus! Das Essen ist derart reichlich, dass ich grundsätzlich die Beilagen weg lasse und nur Salat dazu esse und selbst dann nehme ich noch was mit nach Hause. Sehr nettes Personal, super gutes Essen (Salate sind ebenfalls sehr zu empfehlen, das Dressing ist so gut, dass man es in der Pizzeria in Flaschen abgefüllt kaufen kann), lediglich die Einrichtung ist schon etwas älter, aber wen stört das? Mein Lieblingsrestaurant in Amberg!

Sehr gute Essen, ich kann wirklich nichts bemängeln. Das Essen war geschmacklich sehr gut, das Ambiente schön und die Bedienung freundlich. Natürlich ist es im Sommer draussen etwas lauter,aber das weiß man, weil ja das Freibad dabei ist. Auch das stört mich nicht, im Gegenteil, da gibts immer was zu kucken :-). Preise sind auch ok, als ich kann das Lokal weiterempfehlen. Wir holen mit der Firma auch oft was ab, auch das ist immer total lecker. Am liebsten mag ich den Salat Hockermühle, der ist sehr sehr lecker.

Yesterday we had dinner in the restaurant for the second time. Very long waiting times between drinks and taking our food orders. The service was very stressed, hectic and annoyed. After the main course, the waitress refused to take dessert orders. He could only take drinks now. Dessert is only possible if everyone orders together. Food was good. Will only order to go in the future

Update 8/26/24 (old review below): Had dinner here for my birthday last year. Everything was actually going well there. Food was great, staff friendly. But this year, we (8 people) were very dissatisfied. (08/24/24) The food was still 1A, but the customer service had deteriorated so much... It's a real shame. It was a hot summer day, so the entire terrace and restaurant were full. BUT... only one service. It probably took 5-8 minutes before we could order the drinks. Until the drinks came, another 15-20 minutes. The waitress then wanted to determine what and how we should order, which wasn't possible at all. What and when I want to eat or drink something is up to me! And if I wanted to eat a tiramisu with the main course, then so be it. When we were all finished with the main courses, we wanted to order dessert, but the waitress didn't agree with that either because not everyone was at the table, so I couldn't order straight away. After that we just left it and went to an ice cream parlor. Unfortunately only 2 stars instead of the 5 from back then Ordered 3x Wiener-style schnitzel with fries on May 13, 2023 (to take away). The schnitzels tasted really delicious. As befits schnitzels, they were relatively thin. We can't say much about the service and ambience, but we'll stop by for dinner soon.

The food is delicious, but the service is subpar and the staff is extremely unfriendly. The waiter wasn't even able to take my dessert order; he was visibly annoyed. I would have had to wait until the whole table ordered drinks again and their drinks were then at the table. Then the dessert menu finally came and after that no one came to take the order for ages. When someone came, some of us wanted to order desserts and the rest later. But apparently that wasn't possible either. In the end, no one wanted dessert. Then it will be gone for all of us.

Unfortunately, I had to change my rating since today's visit. Food is wonderful, nothing has changed! Very, very tasty 😋 But the service is underground! Today, 30° outside (just estimated), fully attended, terrace full and the inside tables full... And then just !!!One!!! SERVICE (the same as last year, by the way) who takes orders for the entire restaurant??? And it was so unfriendly (not so extreme last year), the tone and expression towards the guests is simply unacceptable! And then there was also the extreme waiting time...No matter what industry you work in...you can't take your frustration or stress out on your guests. The customer is king (especially there were 8 of us!!!) and dictates the process and not the service! One can only hope that this doesn't happen more often.

The service was initially very friendly, but the closer it got to 10 p.m. the more clearly it became clear. Clear away quickly and collect directly to point out the closure. I was very disappointed with the pasta in salmon cream. More noodles! Unfortunately the taste was 0. What I can recommend is the schnitzel and salad with house dressing. One of the best dressings!

A great place to switch off and relax. We really enjoy coming here and have already bought a season ticket. There is something on offer for children, teenagers and adults. Football, beach volleyball and much more. And the new playground is wonderful.

Atmosphere like a restaurant but not an Italian pizzaria. Pizzas are frozen quality, dripping with fat, no crust and rock hard. Bottom drawer in terms of quality. Nevertheless, friendly service tried hard. We still won't come back.

Alles war richtig gut. Das einzige was ich leider bemängeln muss ist das die Carbonara mit Zwiebeln zubereitet wurde. Ich weiß, jeder kocht nach seinem Rezept und seiner Philosophie, dennoch haben die Carbonara nicht nach Carbonara geschmeckt. Nichts desto trotz würde ich auf jedenfall wieder hin gehen. Die Salate sind einfach überragend!

Update 2023 November - nach leider viel zu langer Zeit sind wir wieder spontan ins la piscina gegangen. Innen hat sich Deko mäßig nicht viel verändert - muss es auch nicht. Das Essen war wie schon immer perfekt und hervorragend. Die Portionen sind richtig groß. Kein Wunder dass das Restaurant so gut gefüllt war. Service und sonst hat auch alles gepasst. Weiterhin 5 von 5 möglichen Sternen hier. Waren im Mai 2018 nach einiger Zeit mal wieder im la Piscina. Das Essen war wie gehabt einfach gut und sehr reichlich. Die Servicekraft war nett und schnell. Da es ein lauer Frühlingsabend war wir jedoch draußen hocken wollten wurden uns sogleich Kissen für die Außenbestuhlung gereicht. Die Atmosphäre in dem Lokal mit dem angrenzenden Freibad ist vor allem an Sommermonaten einfach genial. Das Lokal hat sich innerlich etwas geändert. Es war sehr schön ohne Reservierung bekamen wir einen Platz auf der Terrasse .Das Essen und der Wein waren sehr gut. Grosse Portionen super Salat.Bedienung freundlich und schnell

Wir waren zu viert im Lokal, die zwei Salate waren groß und sehr gut. Gewaltige Abstriche gibt es bei den Pizzen: Der Teig war bestenfalls Standard, der Belag eher spärlich und die Tomatensoße hat mich geschmacklich an ein stark gewürztes Fertigprodukt erinnert. Offensichtlich liegt der Schwerpunkt auf Schnitzeln und nicht auf italienischer Küche. Die Bedienungen waren freundlich und flott, die Preise für die Salate angemessen, bei den Pizzen stimmt das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis leider gar nicht.

Spagetti mafia kann man hier sehr empfehlen, auch die pizzas sehr gut. Wohl die beste pizzaria in Amberg. Leider wie bei allen Restaurants sind die Preise sehr gestiegen. Man kann sich auch die hausgemachten Nudeln zur sosse bestellen. Eigene salatsosse zum mitnehmen. Auch sehr lecker.

Handwerklich sehr gute Küche, alles selbst gemacht und das schmeckt man auch. Kreative, gut komponierte Pizzen und sehr faire Preise. Wer riesige Portionen mag: Schnitzel bestellen - die Portion reicht für eine vierköpfige Familie. Freundliches Personal.

Wir waren mit der ganzen Familie dort zum Abendessen. Reichlich Auswahl, für jeden was da bei, Vorspeisen, Salate, Pasta, Scampi, verschiede Schnitzel, auch in groß. Und hat alles gut geschmeckt 👍🏼 Auch die Desserts sind sehr lecker. Die Mitarbeiter waren freundlich. Trotz vieler Gäste ging es von der Wartezeit. Wir hatten einen schönen Abend 😊 Wir werden bestimmt mal wieder hingehen.

Leider nicht mehr das was es mal war. Service etwas unfreundlich, vor allem wenn man mehr oder weniger rausgeschmissen wird, weil die Bedienung Feierabend haben möchte. Eigentlich hätte das Lokal noch eine eine Stunde geöffnet gehabt. Früher waren wir oft dort, aber heute leider nicht mehr zu empfehlen. Auch das Preisleistungsverhältniss stimmt nicht. Schade….

Riesen Portionen, vor allem die flrischgerichte, Reservierung empfohlen, Personal sehr freundlich, Änderungen werden prompt umgesetzt, Preis- Leistung stimmt, wir kommen gerne wieder.

Geschmacklich definitiv eine der besten Pizzerien im Landkreis Amberg auch der Service ist 1A immer freundlich stets zuvorkommend und immer ein Lächeln auf den Lippen. Lediglich das Ambiente spricht mich persönlich nicht an. Griechische Lampen, ältere Holzeinrichtung und so neu Design Elemente. Find ich persönlich nicht so passend. Aber da kann man bei so leckerem Essen und dem tollen Service hinwegsehen.
