Zur alten Bergbahn in Wuppertal

Leider muss ich mich auch den schlechten Bewertungen anschließen. Die Bedienung hat sich irgendwann mal dazu entschieden,nachdem sie bemerkt hatte das uns das Essen nicht wirklich schmeckte,( auch wenn es lecker aussah) auch nachdem wir 2 Gerichte noch mal aufwärmen lassen mussten, weil es fast kalt war, etwas freundlicher zu sein. Der Sauerbraten war sehr zäh, zu dicke Scheiben und sowie die anderen Beilagen schlecht gewürzt. Mein Zanderfilet war leider auch nicht sehr warm aber ich habe ihr sio gegessen, obwohl die Bedienung noch mal nachfragte ob wir doch etwas anderes haben möchten, da ich auch sagte das die Soße sehr wässrig war und das Gemüse, zumindest die Möhrenstücke, noch fast roh war. Davon mal ab ist das Essen, für die Portionen zu überteuert. Der Fisch 27 € & 23 € der Sauerbraten. Als Entschädigung bekamen wir zwar einen Leckeren, gemischten Nachtisch aufs Haus und die Bedienung war dann doch sehr bemüht aber trotzdem wir noch mindestens 1 Std. dort verweilt haben, wurden wir auch nicht mehr gefragt ob wir noch etwas trinken möchten. Leider nicht zu empfehlen. Die Toiletten waren zwar optisch sauber aber haben nach Urin gestunken. Schade.

We had a very nice evening with friends in the Restaurant Zur alten Bergbahn in a cozy atmosphere, with perfect service and delicious food. We definitely had the tastiest and crispiest goose in Wuppertal. We were all thrilled and will definitely be back. Many thanks to the entire mountain railway team for the wonderful evening.

Familientreffen. Deutlich überwürzte Vorsuppe, ansonsten ok. Leider überfordertes, unprofessionelles Personal, dass mit seinem Auftritt der Gesamtstimmung den Todesstoß versetzte. Man fühlte sich lästig, Bestellungen wurden oft erst bei Nachfragen ausgeführt.

Tolles Ambiente und sehr freundliches Personal und das Essen sehr lecker besser geht's nicht, kann ich nur empfehlen 🤗

Goose dinner for three: goose breast Dry meat 1 dumpling Sauce was a mushy, floury mass that just plopped onto the plate. Clear overall portion 32 euros Last year the food was significantly better. Waitresses listless and unfriendly, although one of the ladies has developed even more positively over time. Ambience....? Toilets are an imposition, the smell of pure urine, you bump your knees on the closed door... 3 stars are still benevolent.

My family had reserved the separate room for a celebration. This was lovingly prepared when we arrived, so that we immediately felt very welcome. However, this first impression was significantly disrupted shortly after our arrival by the service staff, who wanted to take orders for drinks and food immediately after our arrival. The staff's lack of empathy continued in their dealings with our booked photographer, who was rudely asked to make room for the service staff. When several guests criticized the spiciness of the dish while serving the starter, a broth, there was no professional reaction from the service staff. Luckily the main course was tastier. My goose leg was tender and went well with the baked apple. However, the red cabbage tasted soapy and the sauce for the goose leg contained indefinable lumps. In addition, behind the description of potato dumplings there is only a single dumpling. Unfortunately, the main course only left an average impression. For dessert, hot drink orders were taken, which seemed difficult to allocate despite the seating being kept. The dessert variation in the cake stand included various ice cream, cake and dessert variations. We were encouraged to eat it by frequent requests from the service staff. After lunch, a cozy coffee table was actually planned. However, a few people went for a short digestive walk, which apparently gave the impression that the number of guests had reduced. The restaurant tried to substantiate this reduction in the number of guests directly with external guests, so that the subsequent coffee table ended in extreme chaos with a bunch of wrong orders. We drove home disappointed and are looking forward to dining somewhere else soon.

Food was great! There were 6 people there and really satisfied! I can highly recommend the pork fillet with pepper sauce!!! Really REALLY good 👍 Staff very nice, location nice, fits! 5 deserved stars ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️

The food was fresh and absolutely delicious! Delicious fried potatoes, meat and sauces great and well seasoned. The portions not too big and not too small. The map is not too overloaded. Rather unsuitable for vegetarians, but they will also find what they are looking for in an emergency. We were there at lunchtime on the holiday and unfortunately had to wait a very long time (over an hour) for our food. That was the only negative point, apart from the partly older and stiff audience. But the service was simply great, in a good mood and friendly. Very child friendly. There was a lot of attention for the children (pencils, coloring cards, sweets, teddy bears, etc.)

Unfortunately the wild boar schnitzel, which was perhaps only 5 millimeters thick, was not worth 26 euros and had more breadcrumbs like schnitzel. Normally you get sugar with your cappuccino, but unfortunately it was missing. Then you ordered a double espresso with ice cream but the waitress didn't even bring it. We were there for the first and last time. We expect more for the money.

Everything about the mountain railway is just right: the delicious food, the cozy atmosphere and the outstanding service. Bärbel and Sabine make the visit a real pleasure every time. The freshly tapped Kölsch and the Wiener Schnitzel are always recommended.

Unfortunately, the food was once again not good. Carelessly done, moreover. If the good fairy Bärbel isn't there to at least shine in terms of service, it's not worth coming back for us at the moment! Very unfortunate!

Typical local restaurant located in an old station......very good local food...prices and service too.

Above all, the restaurant is very cozy. The cappuccino could be a little more professional instead of this frothy vending machine cream. With the prices today you get more choice and these beautiful “patterns” on the cappuccino. Customer service is quite friendly.

The food was very good. Can be recommended. The quality is good and everything is freshly prepared. Personally, I found the schnitzel a little expensive for the quantity and quality. I come from Munich and a comparable portion would have cost me less there, although Munich has a reputation for being a very expensive city. The Cordon Bleu, on the other hand, could be a little “thinner”. The bacon pancake was tasty, even on the thin side, but the bacon was pleasantly toasted. But the highlight was definitely the Bergische waffles! Not too sweet, the cherries are pleasant and wonderfully balanced with the ice cream and cream. I'll come back any time for that.

We had a really good meal here yesterday. Wonderfully seasonal menu, so we ordered savoy cabbage roulade with pearl barley. Well made, well processed, tasty - that was great. Friendly service, good parking situation and a good, German-influenced menu. It's great that such home-style restaurants with friendly professionals and tasty food still exist!

We were friends with 9 people in the Alte Bergbahn and I think I can say that we were all very satisfied. Small "drops of bitterness" clouded the result: Upon request, there were also senior portions for some dishes, mentioning this on the menu would be helpful. The restaurant was busy, the staff was a bit overworked at times, but very friendly and accommodating. The wheat beer was not served in the "classic" glasses. The seating was a bit tight for 9 people. The toilet door was not only difficult to move, but also completely warped and could only be opened and closed with force. Something like this should be noticed during cleaning and fixed. I'd love to come back again.

Very tasty home cooking. Very nice and attentive staff. We made a little stop here and it was worth it. It's located on a mountain and you can sit outside very well. Price-performance is very good! We really enjoyed it and I would definitely go again!

Vorspeisenteller bis auf den Salat durchaus in Ordnung, alle der 6 Hauptgerichte lieblos auf den Tellern angerichtet, Fleisch wie Fisch ( Panade zu dunkel) trocken, geschmacksneutral wie auch die Beilagen, schwacher Gesamteindruck, schade!

Due to a lack of staff, tables are only partially occupied, kitchen closes early, restaurant at 10 p.m. Service was nice, dishes not amazing but ok. Nice outside area, appealingly bourgeois inside.

Meals that are sloppily prepared are slapped onto the plate and brought to you by a waitress who always keeps an eye on the limits of provocation. At the start there is Prosecco, which has lost its coolness and sparkle in the queue, including inconsistent glasses. 5 prawns are thrown over completely dry pasta and then 25 euros are called. The mousse is not dark, but it is flabby and warm. Finally, there's thin porridge, which was on the menu as coffee. A terrible experience, the "circumstantial" reason for which made it impossible to make a complaint on site. Never again!!

There were two of us in this restaurant. Before the actual meal, two small dry baguette slices with a dollop of diced tomatoes and herb quark came from the kitchen as a greeting? Well, dear mountain railway team, that wasn't a good greeting from the kitchen. As a starter we ordered a chanterelle cream soup and a beef carpaccio with shaved parmesan, truffle sauce and salad. About the soup: It was served in a "small" bowl, was very thin - anything but "creamy" - and was probably intended to replace the missing chanterelle taste by over-seasoning and we paid €8 for that. In terms of taste, I gave the carpaccio a rating of "adequate+" because it wasn't a highlight, because I could have imagined that ... "with truffle sauce" ... can't have anything to do with real truffles, but it does I thought paying €16 for the small amount was steep. For the main course, my husband ordered homemade Königsberger meatballs with caper sauce, with beetroot salad and mashed potatoes. The sauce was too salty and the entire dish with mashed potatoes was served carelessly - without any kick. The beetroot salad was missing. I chose the pork cordon bleu, filled with mountain cheese and Italian prosciutto, with fries and a small salad. Sounded really good, I thought. But unfortunately the breading that covered the cordon bleu was very pale - far from crispy or crispy and it didn't appear to me to have been made by the hand of the chef at this place (my guess... maybe a convenience product?) , because I didn't taste the mountain cheese or the Italian prosciutto as anything special. It didn't have the taste that the description suggested to me. The fries were very limp and lacked the salt, which was too much in the Königsberger Klopse sauce. The salad was missing here too. Now the owner or the staff of this restaurant could accuse us of having been able to complain about “everything” on site. But honestly... should we really complain about "everything" when boring, over-seasoned, over-priced food and two forgotten salads are obviously normal? Forgetting “two” salads seems to me to be part of the program and simply shouldn’t happen. Finally, I had to go to the counter to pay the bill because they had forgotten us. Unfortunately, I cannot understand the individual positive reviews after this evening. An overall rating of 4.2 says something!

Service was unprofessional. Despite repeated reminders about the drinks as well If any supplements were missing, they were not brought. We definitely won't dine there again.

Wir sind seit 15 Jahren hier zu Gast und immer sehr zufrieden, besonders schön sitzt man draußen. In letzter Zeit stimmt aber das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis nicht mehr. 30,- Euro für ein Wiener Schnitzel? 22,- Euro für einen Semmelknödel mit Pfifferlingen? Da hätte ich im Prinzip nichts dagegen, aber es waren nur 5 Pfifferlinge in der - zugegeben- sehr leckeren Sauce. Da stimmt doch ´was nicht!

Every time we are here we are satisfied. We particularly enjoy the seasonal dishes. We even had our wedding lunch here (16 people). Will definitely come more often.

We were there for a BBQ this evening. From bratwurst to fish to fillet skewers, everything is freshly prepared on the grill. Delicious salads, cabbage, baguettes and dips as well as grilled vegetables and rosemary potatoes leave nothing to be desired. This is rounded off with delicious desserts and friendly staff. We have been to the old mountain railway several times, but it was the first time for a BBQ. We'd love to come back, with or without BBQ :)

I was there with my colleagues for lunch today for matjes. Rarely have we had such good herring. My colleagues were also thrilled. The service was also excellent as always. Would love to come back.

A traditional and good restaurant with German cuisine. Personally, I can highly recommend the sauerbraten, but the other dishes at the table (vegetarian Warp, Paprika Schnitzel and Original Wiener Schnitzel) were also very tasty. We sat in the beer garden and, like many other guests, enjoyed the beautiful atmosphere. Good service, so a good recommendation to stop there.

The store is a bit upscale but very nice and friendly. Unfortunately, apart from pasta with pesto, there is not a single vegetarian dish, so the shop is absolutely not suitable for family meals or anything similar.

The food was carelessly prepared, the cheese had been forgotten for the cordon bleu, ice cream parlor was served instead of ice cream chocolate (no apology or corrective response, although this was pointed out twice in a friendly manner), the tartar sauce was missing from the roast beef, and the beer was stale. The salad dressing seemed to come from a bottle - at least that's how it tasted. We can do this much better in our own four walls... The mountain railway used to be a very good address in Wuppertal, we always enjoyed going there. Unfortunately that has changed and we will not be coming back. A pity.

It was very crowded, but there wasn't a long wait

Das Essen war wieder einmal sehr gut. Liebevoll gestaltete Speisekarte zu Ostern mit leckeren Gerichten. Wir waren wieder einmal sehr zufrieden. Hier trifft sich jüngeres und älteres Publikum was den Reiz ausmacht.

Been here for my 60th birthday. We always come here because of the small but fresh and tasty menu with attention to detail. Attentive service and all in all full marks. We will be back!

Very nice atmosphere, the waffles are so delicious, you feel like you used to go to grandma's. The service is great and they also listen to small requests. Highly recommended after a walk or a family celebration, it's not just the waffles that are a treat for the palate.🥰

Muss mich den negativen Bewertungen anschließen! Wir wollten dem Lokal nochmals eine Chance geben, doch die Preise, die beim ersten Besuch schon sehr happig waren, sind nochmals gestiegen. Gut 30 Euro für ein Schnitzel, NEE, mit Sicherheit nicht!! Eine weitere Enttäuschung ist, es gibt immer nur dasselbe, man ist offenbar nicht gewillt, andere Menüs in gewissen Abständen anzubieten.

I was your guest many, many times... including before Christmas, as part of a party, and was disappointed. The service as well as the food... I don't want to explain any details now, but I'm worried when I think that from January 1st, 2024 the VAT will also increase and so will the prices. You should work a little on the quality of the food. Otherwise it could “be eye-catching”. Have a good transition into the new year... An update from February 7, 2024 When we had dinner with you before Christmas in a large company, we were given a basket of bread without any aioli, goose fat or even butter. When asked if there was anything to go with the bread, e.g. B. Aioli, it was said, "we're not with the Spaniards here!". Speaking of Spaniards, here is a recipe that always works: 4 cloves of garlic, 50 ml milk puree with a pinch of salt and fresh pepper. Then add cooking oil, constantly pureeing, and when the consistency is creamy enough, stir in a pinch of sugar and the juice of a fresh lemon. Great!!!, and it only takes 3 minutes. In case the guests ask for a “cream” with their bread again! P.S. Real aioli is always without eggs! :-) .. Bon appetit!

Wir gehen alle vier Wochen in unterschiedlichen Gaststätten essen. Mal in Schwelm, Solingen, Remscheid oder Solingen. Heute waren wir in der alten Bergbahn, dass bestimmt zum letzten Mal. Unterirdisch und nicht zu empfehlen. Getränke gab es nur auf mehrfache Nachfrage, Wasser für den Hund wurde nicht angeboten und auf Nachfrage vergessen. Die Portionen zu klein, wenn daheim nichts im Kühlschrank gewesen wäre, hätten wir hungrig ins Bett gemusst. Geschmacklich Pommesbudenniveau. Leider keinen Stern. Für uns- nicht empfehlenswert!

We arrived there by chance because many restaurants were closed. We were warmly welcomed and served. The food was very tasty and we had nothing to complain about. If you are looking for good home cooking and a delicious schnitzel to go with it, this is the place for you.

Wir waren gestern dort essen und waren sehr positiv überrascht. Das Essen war qualitativ super und alles frische Zutaten. Geschmacklich und Qualitativ sehr gut. Auch unser Rhodesien war willkommen und hat von der netten Dame / Bedienung ein Leckerchen bekommen. Nicht selbstverständlich das große Vierbeiner so willkommen sind. Leider war der Hunger zu groß um Fotos zu machen aber wir kommen bestimmt wieder ;-)

Die Bedienung war superfreundlich, absolut nichts gegen auszusetzen, sehr ordentlich und sauber, Wartezeit auf Speisen und Getränke im guten grünen Bereich. Gute Parkmöglichkeiten, außen ein Zelt für Raucher ( denkt heute auch nicht jeder dran ) , auch die Einrichtung richtig nett gemacht, hier kann der Gast sich noch als Gast fühlen. Aber leider leider gab es für uns doch etwas wo wirklich dran gearbeitet werden muss und das ist die Portionsgrösse beim Essen. Diese stand in kleinster Weise zum Preis/ Leistungsverhältnis. Wenn man Essen geht, dann möchte man satt werden und das hat uns allen leider etwas gefehlt. Ansonsten hätte es auch für das Essen fünf Sterne gegeben.

Leckeres Essen, freundliche Bedienung.

Ein würdiger Rahmen einen 80. Geburtstag mit sehr gutem Essen zu feiern. Wir waren 7 Leute zwischen 18 und 82 Jahren, haben das Essen alle sehr genossen und würden jederzeit wieder kommen. Hervorragender Service, sehr aufmerksam und freundlich.

Leider keine frische Küche. z.B. Klöße aus der Packung. Ich weiß das es die Gastronomie momentan schwer hat aber genau deshalb sollte man sich vielleicht etwas mehr vom Wettbewerb abheben.

Der Besuch war wie immer sehr schön. Die Inneneinrichtung war der Jahreszeit angepasst und sehr schön. Der Service war ordentlich und ohne Fehler. Es wurde sogar gefragt ob man noch mehr von den Beilagen möchte, kurz bevor man aufgegessen hatte. (ohne Aufpreis). Das Essen ist wie immer handwerklich gut gemacht und wirklich schmackhaft. Die Garnelen mit Knoblauchbrot sind immer wieder lecker und das Wienerschnitzel wie immer ein Fest. Ich würde immer wieder kommen. Eine Reservierung ist abends am Wochenende empfehlenswert.

Ist ein blasses Wiener Schnitzel, mit Bratkartoffeln und Gurkensalat für 27 Euro noch zu akzeptieren? Meine Meinung ist eindeutig. Einfach zu teuer.

Finden es sehr schön und urig dort. Essen ist ausgezeichnet. Die Karte könnte etwas mehr Auswahl bieten. Mir hat die Portion zwar gereicht, aber für gute Esser könnten die Portionen durchaus etwas größer sein. Schon gehobenere Klasse. Aber gerne wieder und ich freue mich schon auf nächstes Jahr.

Da möchte man in einer Liga spielen, in der man nicht hinein gehört. Draussen sitzen ist toll. Aber Preis Leistung stimmt leider meiner Meinung nach nicht!

Auch die Waffeln sind empfehlenswert. Heute wieder dort gewesen zum Gänsebraten Essen . Wie immer ein Genuss! Einfach nur empfehlenswert wert!!!

Essen war schon gut, aber das Preis- Leistungsverhältnis stimmte einfach nicht. Für einen Pfannkuchen mit Speck 15€, naja. Ebenso die anderen Gerichte. Speisekarte auch nicht besonders abwechslungsreich, ohne Fleisch fast nichts. Ansonsten. Die Bedienung scheint sowas wie Kundenorientierung eher nicht zu kennen. Der Laden hat 2 Räume. Zu dem wo wir uns eigentlich gerne hingesetzt hätten, der auch noch fast leer war, wurde uns gesagt, dass alle Plätze reserviert wären. Ist klar... Als wir gingen war der immer noch halb leer. Stattdessen durften wir in der doch eher altbackenen Bergischen Stube platznehmen. Vermutlich kriegen den schöneren Raum nur Stammkunden die sich vorher anmelden (oder schon bekannt sind), die da wohl in dem Viertel auch bereit sind die überhöhten Preise zu zahlen. Mag der Laden denn auch mit denen glücklich werden uns sieht er jedenfalls nicht wieder.

Es war ziemlich laut, weil es in dem Raum sehr hallt. Ansonsten alles prima!

Wieder dort gewesen...... Es ist immer wieder himmlich. Sicherlich sind die Preise, wie in jeder anderer Gastronomie (und bei jedem auch privatem Verbraucter) gestiegen, aber dennoch ist es immer wieder mal einen Besuch WERT!!!. Sehr liebes Personal. Das Essen ist hervorragend. Auch wenn ich mich (und alle, die mit mir privat gegessen haben das bestätigen) als sehr gute Köchin (im Privaten) betitel, gehen wir immer wieder gerne Zur alten Bergbahn essen, da das Essen super ist und wir uns dort heimisch fühlen. Das Restaurant ist einfach nur zu empfehlen. Vielen Dank, dass es euch gibt.
